The rooms we were given were large, quiet, comfortable, and attractively decorated - apparently a complimentary upgrade which was very much appreciated. The bed was extremely comfortable, the climate control and wifi very good. As we were traveling through Grand Central Terminal, the location was very convenient for our purposes. I ate breakfast (not included) in the hotel's restaurant; service, environment, and food were good and reasonably priced. The lighting is atmospheric but a bit dark, in the lobby as well as the rooms.

Great location - just a few minutes away from Grand Central station in a relatively mellow neighborhood. The room was quite spacious and the bed was comfortable. Friendly staff.

The room was clean and spacious, location was great, lots of food options nearby. Every day you can choose 2 food or drink items for free from a pantry located in the lobby. Not a lot of amenities in the bathroom, which for a hotel that charges 300 a night was disappointing. I also left something behind which I called for the same evening so i could pick it up the next day as I was still in Manhattan, I just changed location for "work" convenience, but apparently no one found anything, I travelled with one small trolly, and it wasn't with me, so the only logical option was that I left it behind, but the reception told me no one saw anything, which again was disappointing for a hotel that categorize itself as an upper-midscale or 4-star hotel.

The proximity was to everything The staff they were very helpful That for the price it should’ve been some breakfast included Even if it was a small breakfast box
- 3.5/5
The bed was extremely comfortable. I like the look and vibe of the place. The rooftop bar/restaurant and the ground floor restaurant were both really nice. Particularly the rooftop had some great views. I love that you got 2 free snacks each day. The room was on a low floor so we heard more street than we wanted. The toilet didn't work when we arrived and we had to get maintenance to come up twice. There were a lot of scuff marks on the furniture. There wasn't really a train station super close. Probably 10 minute walk. There was no water station, bottled waters in the room or ice machines on the floor.
- 5/5
This is a nice hotel. When getting 2 beds the rooms are more spacious. Very easy access to everything I wanted to do. We walked a lot but we also took the subway and the bus.

Service was good but for this price, I would not recommend.

Centrally located with spacious and clean rooms aspecially for NYC standards ; I had a nice stay. The room smelled like marijuana when we arrived, I understand it is legal in NY, but smoking shouldn't be allowed inside. The furniture is old and needs to be updated or restored. We got a room on the 4th floor right next to some aircon units and it was just too noisy. I don't understand the whole 10$ cupboard credit/night, just make the room 10$/night cheaper and we will get our snacks elsewhere...

Last minute booking of the 2-bedroom suite with terrace, turned out to be an excellent and spacious accommodation with terrific staff. The included breakfasts were robust and helped make the booking a better value. You can’t beat the views from the room’s terrace. This worked out really well for our family to explore Manhattan from the Grand Central station area.

The bride and groom had been told that accommodations would be made for guests needing a place to prepare and that we would be prioritized for early check-in. When I called the hotel the day before, I was informed that our room had been vacant the previous night and that early check in was likely available, but I was advised to call again the following morning to confirm. As instructed, I called the morning of our arrival and was told that early check-in was available. I was offered a 1 PM check in time. Due to traffic, we arrived closer to 230 PM, but upon arrival we were told that the room was not ready. Staff acknowledged the notes in our reservation confirming the approved early check-in, yet the room was still unavailable. We were told the room was being prepared and that we would receive a text message once it was ready. Unfortunately, we did not receive that notification until 4 PM, after the hotel’s standard 4 PM check in time. I was not able to access the room until approximately 4 PM, which caused me to miss the wedding ceremony entirely. For anyone planning a family gathering or reserving a hotel block for a special event, this is something to consider.

We had a problem checking in because Booking.com had given us a price to extend our reservation -- and then declined it when we tried to confirm. The hotel site seemed to confirm, but there was no record when we went to the hotel. The assistant desk manager, Justin, was great; we made a new Booking.com reservation (more expensive than what was declined; less than the hotel) on the spot and he combined both reservations. Room was nicer and, for NYC, larger than most well-known big chains and lots of thoughtful touches, including dimmer switches and lights near the bed you could actually read by. Plus great location. The lobby was a place you could read and linger a bit off to the side, not a place trying to get you to buy a drink.

We were celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary and the Hotel upgraded us from a Junior Suite to a 1 bedroom apartment which was wonderful. The bed was so comfortable and if I could buy the pillows I would do so. We slept so well. The location is very convenient in Murray Hill / Midtown. A short walk takes you to Grand Central for subway transportation all over the city and we used the Ferry a 15 min walk straight down 37th Street to take us to Wall Street area. Both options inexpensive and convenient. All the hotel staff were helpful, friendly and smiling! It was a joy staying there. Included in our booking was 2 free snacks or drinks daily. There is a very popular rooftop restaurant and bar which we were unable to book but we did stop in later after eating locally to enjoy a nightcap and listen to the live DJ or Chill Type music. The view of the Empire State all lit up and surrounding high rise buildings was truly spectacular. We did not have a great experience in the ground floor restaurant one evening. Food was mixed quality. Service was the same as our waitress had to leave in the middle of serving us. Would be willing to try again however as everything else at the Sonesta was first class.

The only thing that was not good was charging the resort fee which was about $50 a day for amenities that most people in the hotel do not use. Restaurant off the lobby for breakfast and dinner was convenient and the staff were very attentive. However the breakfast was expensive ( $14- $18 for omelette / eggs or yogurt ) and it had a limited menu. We ended up going to various places on Madison which was half the price - eg. Pret n manger. We would stay again.

We were 2 ppl in the 2 Queen Beds room. Location is fantastic - great neighborhood, safe night and day, close to Grand Central and a lot of buses. Walkable to nice areas in the city too. Beds were big and comfortable. The room overall was fantastic, spacious, had everything we needed! We had 4 pcs of luggage and had plenty of room. The staff were the best part, everyone was genuinely nice, helpful and attentive. We we would definitely recommend it and stay there again! Honestly everything was great. I would say that the room could use more lighting, and it would be better to have a kettle and not just a coffee machine - it's less convenient to use for just hot water
- 4/5
Lovely room with lots of light and good furnishings the broken dresser tops and scruffiness realy made it feel ordinary as opposed to special. The foyer is pretty dim and dark so not very welcoming

Staff was really nice. Rooms were spacier that what you're used to in Manhattan. We were not facing the street so it was really quiet, except when people were talking in the hallway (you can hear everything through the door). Furnitures could be updated. Bed was really comfy though.

We have chosen the Shelborne Sonesta for 15+ years, back when it was the Affinia and the Rare bar was a popular hangout! We did not make it to the rooftop this year, but the reopening and expansion was very nice the last time we visited. Some of the rooms are a little dated, but the location in midtown/Murray Hill and the welcoming staff, makes this an easy choice for return trips. See you next year!

Staff was very friendly & attentive. This hotel suited us just fine for our short trip visiting a nearby friend. Rooms were clean & bathroom very spacious. Beds were comfy. Bottom (2nd) floor was a bit noisy from street noise as expected (cars honking, ambulances) but nothing good earplugs can't help. 3 adult women shared this room just fine. No bells & whistles but no complaints as well.

The property is in a convenient location. Our room was spacious and fairly comfortable. The luggage guy was friendly and helpful. The front desk was very difficult to contact. We needed a couple extra towels one night, and no one would answer the phone (after several attempts). I went down to the lobby to ask for them, and felt like I was inconveniencing them. Our room was not cleaned (not sure why), but housekeeping knocked at 10:45 the following night to hand us clean towels. While our stay was fine overall, it felt disorganized and not like a full service hotel.
- 5/5
We especially loved the outside seating at the attached restaurant
- 5/5
The hotel has a rooftop bar/restaurant and I would recommend trying it out as the views and atmosphere were terrific. Best of all is the hotel location in Murray Hill which is a quiet neighbourhood but with interesting bars and diners within a few minutes walk (try The Junction Bar and the Murray Hill Diner). It's an easy 6/7 minute walk to Grand Central Station with its excellent transport options including trains to JFK with one change at Jamaica. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back!

I was very disappointed because of many things specially about the conditions of the bedrooms. I had a PH terrace 2 bedroom and not even had cute tips or cottons, the sofa and chairs were dirty and very old, even the housekeeper told us to get out of the room so she can clean it. She even said doesn’t understand why people go to NYC to sleep!!! Horrible experience at the restaurant and room service!!

Beautiful, very large suite, very clean and quiet. The AC is quiet and effective which is a rarity in NYC hotels. The proximity of a lovely rooftop bar (not affiliated directly with the hotel) was a pleasant surprise as was the cafe next door. The staff is terrific --the valet helped me hail a cab which I appreciated. The location is perfect--a modest walk to many sites and/or the subway. I liked being in a slightly calmer, more residential neighborhood (Murray Hill). It was definitely pricey but so is everything in NYC. This was one of the more affordable options I found online.

The staff, Kevin Buestan, is the rudest and condescending front desk person I’ve ever met in New York. We travel to NY on a regular basis and stayed at different hotels. We chose Shelbourne Sonesta this time because the room floor plans are big compare to other new hotels. I won’t be coming back to this hotel and WILL NOT recommend because of how Kevin treated us. We booked 3 rooms for 6 nights, so it wasn’t cheap. But we didn’t get the standard treatment with courtesy. The lady manager was nice but the staff especially Kevin were not.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Shelburne Sonesta hotel in Murray Hill, NYC. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We made liberal use of the restaurant off the ground floor (the food and service were excellent), had brunch at the rooftop restaurant (lovely views), and were conveniently located to sites and transportation. Our room (a standard queen, accessible) was very comfortable. We're looking forward to returning.

Did not like the surprise facility fee gross practice on a guest. And the temperature of the room was a nightmare no way to cool the room at all only heat and took nearly 12 hours to even reach a suitable temperature. Was set to 80 degrees when frist entered I set it 68, it got to 74 by 2am. I did eventually sleep but very little. And then the gym next to the room had very loud people at 6am till I left.

Shout out to reception desk who were amazing all the time there, the doorman (he rocks), and housekeeping. Everyone was cordial, including the waiters at Take Care restaurant. The room was ample of the 3 of us so we were grateful for that (that was one of the reasons that sold us the hotel) and there were plenty of space for our clothes and luggage. It was also quiet: we requested a quiet room and they gave us one in the corner of the 5th floor. Amazing. It had a view to Lexington street and even so we heard nothing but the occasional door slam (nothing that bothered us) and sometimes a car below, but it was really really quiet!) Our reservation let us choose 2 items every day from their selection, which we liked (apple juice, water bottle, chips, gatorade, etc). We were able to refill our water bottles in the fitness room every day. The restaurant in site, Take Care, is nice and the waiter was amazing, but the pancakes were not tasty

It was a nice hotel, typical New York stay. I like that the hotel didn’t feel busy outside. It was actually a little quieter than I thought it would be so that was nice. The hotel was a little older which is expected and I love things, but it did feel a little bit warn like maybe you could use a little refreshing. And unfortunately, the restaurant was horrible. I don’t know how the restaurant in that hotel has good ratings. Our breakfast was not good at all, and the service was so slow, and not at all what we expected since it had good ratings. Also, when somebody asks for salt and pepper, if you only have regular table salt, please don’t pour it into a little bowl thinking that it’s gonna be fancy (you don’t spoon on table salt).

These are minor complaints. I had a deluxe one bedroom suite, so two rooms. The AC unit in the bedroom was a bit noisy. The maintenance people came addressed it quickly but it was still a little noisy. The breakfast menu in the restaurant off the lobby is small. Decent food though

Typical New York rooms are so small, our room at the Shelburne was far from small, great size for myself and my 2 teenagers. Every member of reception staff and concierge were super friendly but professional and when we needed some bedding it was delivered without delay… location also amazing, a quick walk to Grand Central which linked to wherever needed. Would most certainly stay here again, highly recommended..

Perfect location. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean! Great breakfast. Only slight downside was the lack of sound proofing between the rooms.

I loved how spaceous the room was. The bathroom wasn't spotless, I did have to pass a lysol wipe on the toilet seat because there was a hair but other than that, I loved it. Bed was comfortable and big. It was a short walk to Grand Central.

Spending my bday here was splendid. The staff at the hotel treated me like royalty and made me feel so very special! From the staff greeting at the front desk and valet David and Adam, to the bartender Renee at the Vintage Green roof top restaurant bar, everything included amazing service! The room and lobby/sitting area were spotless. Parking was an expense and the only negative, but it made unpacking and loading convenient for our needs. The rooms had decent amount of space and room. The staff accommodated us with a bottle of wine, I assume for my bday, as well as a decent view of the Empire State Building. Overall, very much appreciated weekend spent at the Sonesta Hotel, well worth it! Thank you to all of the staff at the Shelburne Sonesta Hotel.

However, there was no shower curtain, so water splashed outside a lot. It would be better if this could be fixed.

The staff were great and accommodating and the room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. The only issue is I'm a light sleeper and even though we were on the 10th floor, there was a constant horn blowing at the 37th st and Lex intersection. Didn't realize how much of a cut thru east to west 37th st was.

Shelbourne was a great stay! It was our first time in NYC and it was the perfect location! All of the staff was amazing and friendly! We even took advantage of the breakfast restaurant and it was delicious! We stayed here as a family of 5 and there was more than enough room for all of us. We would stay here again!

I have stayed here multiple times in NY and love this hotel. Prompt check in, great location, Vintage Green roof top is a lovely drinks/dining spot and lobby cafe is great. As a VIP member I received a free upgrade and complimentary drinks/snacks. Highly recommend.

We had a special occasion and chose the Shelburne to stay and can’t say enough about the staff, the service and our complete satisfaction with the whole experience. Kudos & well done, we’ll be back!

- 5/5
I had an amazing stay. The staff were extremely nice and very welcoming. I was upgraded to a suite and the room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. I loved the rooftop restaurant/bar service and food. Will definitely be staying here next time I’m in town.
- 5/5
Great room, clean with a great view and very warm, friendly inviting staff!
- 5/5
Location - access to MTA buses and subways. Maid service excellent. No wrinkle sheets - lots of towels. 6 pillows and futon as requested - no feathers as I am allergic to down, feathers, etc. Inventive menu in Take Care Cafe for breakfast.
- 4/5
The room was clean and quiet. There was a cold draft coming in from the bathroom window so the bathroom was very cold regardless that I put the temp up.
- 5/5
Nice attentive staff
- 5/5
Amazing stay! Great staff the rooftop bar is a must! The views and drinks are to die for.

- 5/5
The location was perfect, staff was super helpful and friendly and we loved the access to the roof top bar/resturant. It was a treat to stay here and we will definitely stay here again when we are in town
- 3/5
Dated amenities, the Shelburne did not fell 4* at all.
- 5/5
Excellent locations for New York trip.
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable, reception went out of their way to make sure I had a quiet room away from more trafficked areas. Great value for money in midtown.
- 5/5
Nice roon with kitchenette and mini-fridge. Small boutique hotel, cozy.
- 5/5
Carolyn and the rest of the staff are incredibly kind.
- 5/5
We will stay there again.
- 5/5
Great location, walkable to mayor attractions.
- 5/5
Clean room, spacious, very silent, good mattress, fast elevators, polite and friendly staff, tasty breakfast. This hotel is not over-luxurious but everything they do is done right. Also, it is fairly priced. They have a rooftop bar, too. We’ve stayed at this hotel many times and were never disappointed. Highly recommended.
- 1/5
Major issue: no functioning HVAC / no temperature control. The room’s HVAC was not working, and the heat appeared to be on by default. We were never informed at booking or upon arrival. The result: we spent the entire night sweating with no way to regulate the temperature in the room. The only “solution” offered was to open the window - however, the window has no screen and no meaningful security, and we are traveling with a toddler who could easily access it. That is not an acceptable workaround. Condition and cleanliness: very outdated and very dirty. The property feels rundown and overdue for renovation. Our room was extremely dusty, and we were sneezing every day during our stay. It wasn’t just “older hotel” charm - it felt neglected. Service: inconsistent, and at times shockingly rude. We spoke with three front desk agents. The only person who maintained a genuinely positive and helpful tone was Ethan - he deserves credit for being professional. Unfortunately, Carolyn Gonzalez was extremely rude and dismissive, and her approach has no place in hospitality. The manager we spoke with gave me a blank business card; after asking, I was told her name is Jeniffer Ar. Her attitude was even worse - cold, disrespectful, and lacking basic customer-service professionalism.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, and housekeeping was very good. The front desk staff is excellent.
- 5/5
Only i dont see sleepers to
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Staff was great. We were upgraded to a suite. Great location. Rooftop deck has great views and service
- 5/5
Everything was nice and clean! Would definitely go back
- 4/5
I was impressed with the size of our apartment and enjoyed that the bedroom had a door separating it from the living room, so our kids who were sleeping on the foldout sofa bed could watch tv in the morning while we slept in a little. The midtown location was very convenient. The room was mostly clean, though there was a used tissue on the floor under the sofa bed when I pulled it out.
- 3/5
I've stayed here twice and it's been a good experience. The staff is very polite and helpful, the location is perfect. The only issue I had was in trying to fill the tub for a bath. The water was brown, dirty. Tried to re-fill, same thing. They moved us to another room and the same thing happened. I fiddles with the drain and found that there was brown gunk accumulated right below the shallow drain in the shower. So, not sure I'd stay there again knowing there is this level of gunk, maybe mold right there in the bathroom.
- 4/5
Everything was great but we had a particularly warmer winter day and I think it's kind of crazy that the air conditioning was off for the winter. Some people are warm year round
- 4/5
This was second time to stay in. The service was great as usuall
- 5/5
Wonderful staff; allergy friendly restaurant
- 5/5
Very good location. Nice rooftop
- 3/5
The hotel was clean and staff helpful, however very noisy given the location.
- 5/5
Rooms were spacious, location was great and felt safe and hotel itself is really pretty. Staff was great as well. Would def stay again!
- 4/5
Room was a tad dated, bathroom vanity definitely needs to be replaced, carpet and sofa were both tattered. But ultimately the space provided what we needed, it was clean and spacious for our visit. Staff was courteous and gracious.
- 1/5
Rooms are not maintained. Heat was loud we could not sleep. Shower pressure was 0/10
- 5/5
It was the best hotel I have stayed in, that is in the vicinity of Time Square.
- 3/5
Did not try breakfast. Room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the heating units of the hotel. It was not a pleasant view. Room included the bare minimum, it was clean enough to stay. For the price we paid, I would not stay there again. Helpfulness of front office depended on the person on duty. Some were helpful others were not.
- 5/5
Had a nice time during the Christmas season at this hotel. The staff was extremely pleasant and helped with any minor issues we ran into. They were very accommodating.
- 5/5
We had the most exceptional time in NYC for Christmas. The hotel is perfectly located, the rooms were exceptionally clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The hotel staff insured we had a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back!
- 5/5
We were thoroughly pleased with our experience. Two rooms for our family of four: one with a queen bed and the other with with bedroom and separate living room. Perfectly located to subways and everywhere you want to be in NYC. Perfect for families, couples and business. A hidden gem in midtown
- 4/5
Location was much more convenient than I originally realized Staff was very helpful. However, their elevator system takes quite some time. If you’re not carrying a heavy suitcase, you can get some exercise on the stairs. I would definitely stay here. The price point is terrific in New York.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Great hotel, excellent location, would stay here again for sure.
- 5/5
Great Staff, very accommodating
- 4/5
Very courteous and helpful staff when we had issues with noisy guests. Excellent cleaning staff every day. Great room size. Warm welcome from door staff. Safe and secure in lovely location.
- 5/5
The staff was great! Restaurant and rooftop bar were wonderful
- 5/5
I slept so well my watch complimented me in the morning.
- 5/5
All was great. Elevator situation could be netter during check-out hours.
- 5/5
Clean, warm, welcoming.
- 5/5
Nice rooms, nice views, easy to walk to everything
- 4/5
Staff was wonderful. Only complaint was I couldn’t control the temperature. Room was to hot
- 5/5
It was wonderful i'll be staying again for sure
- 5/5
Great location and nice room in NYC.
- 3/5
Room size was great but certainly due for a refresh as it’s pretty banged up.
- 3/5
We stayed in room 306 this weekend to visit while everything was decorated for Christmas in a 1bedroom suite. The room itself was ok, but the toilet was unusable. There was a wall within inches of the front of the toilet and I had to go to the lobby to be seated comfortably. I’m honestly unsure how the hotel gets away with being able to rent the room without an accessible toilet, I travel a lot and it was a first for me. During peak Christmas it runs 700-800 a night.
- 5/5
The hotel is well-situated and very close to the subway, making it accessible to local museums and other points of interest. The room was clean, and the staff was very courteous and responded quickly to any request.
- 5/5
Spacious room, clean good location
- 3/5
Conveniently located to where I needed to be, furniture in the room was significantly run down and scuffed. Facility charge is absurd…. My husband said they did have a nice gym. Room service screwed up my order twice….tho I understand the restaurant is actually independently owned
- 5/5
Generous upgrade, hospitable staff, great location. Our stay was perfect!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, great spacious room, and great location in quieter neighborhood
- 4/5
Clean room. Easy access to restaurants. Near shops & transportation
- 5/5
Great customer service and room! Must go to their rooftop bar
- 5/5
Great experience
- 5/5
Sonesta is a great place to stay while in NYC. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed here before and this time we were upgraded to a suite. Super comfortable and spacious clean room.
- 3/5
Bed was very hard. Otherwise it was a lovely hotel well located. Rooftop bar was perfect.
- 5/5
great place- very professional
- 3/5
Needs updating, not near anything, and LOnG wait to check-in.
- 5/5
At the same time quiet from the touristy parts. Room was great, comfortable. Gym had everything you need for good cardio and weights.
- 4/5
Fine except for street noise
- 5/5
The hotel room was clean and updated, and I'm a stickler for cleanliness. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised with an upgraded room and will definitely book here again! The cafe downstairs had excellent food, good fresh quality and accommodating for food allergies including gluten-free. Beautiful rooftop views and restaurant. Great for both family or business trips. Overall a wonderful experience and look forward to booking there again!
- 5/5
Helpful and courteous staff! The rooms was spacious and clean and the hotel is within walking distance of restaurants and attractions.
- 5/5
Friendly and accommodating staff.
- 5/5
Beautiful room. Great view of the city
- 5/5
Lovely property in midtown with lots of local restaurants - fantastic to be able to walk to Times Sq and attractions
- 4/5
Staff is courteous, room needs better cleaning and some refurbishing too! Great location!
- 5/5
Super spacious hotel for NYC
- 5/5
Our stay was extremely comfortable! With had a very late check in around midnight and they were able to check us in smoothly and seamlessly! The rooms were nice and clean although the furniture was on the older side, besides that our stay was great! The staff are friendly and accommodating, the location is a perfect and we enjoyed our room.
- 5/5
Fantast
- 5/5
I had a great experience there and a very comfortable stay
- 5/5
It felt like being in an apartment it was spacious, it had a small kitchen and the bathroom was big and the bedroom too!! The breakfast place attached to the hotel was amazing too!! All the amenities that it offered I think this is my new place to book when I come to New York again!!! It was perfect and the view if you get a top floor we stayed in the 14 floor!! Definitely book here!!!
- 5/5
Our one-bedroom apartment was immaculately cleaned, the bed and furniture was comfortable, the linens were fresh and cozy. It was a quiet and peaceful stay in a nice neighborhood. We greatly enjoyed our dinner at Vintage Green, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant which has an incredible view of the Empire State Building. All staff members of the hotel and restaurant were very friendly and polite. I’d definitely stay and dine here again!
- 3/5
Positive notes: The location is convenient, nice lobby, cozy restaurant and the staff were very friendly.
- 5/5
Staff is tops!
- 2/5
Hotel did not have A/C. Solution was to open windows or a fan
- 3/5
Yes
- 3/5
I won’t stay here again as the exhaust vent in the bathroom was packed with large amounts of dust (mold), my TV didn’t work, the WiFi was ridiculously slow, and the plug for the coffee didn’t work. I did sleep well and it was quiet.
- 3/5
Rooms are starting to be run down. Staff is not very cordial.
- 5/5
Great service clean rooms
- 4/5
Room was clean. Wish there were more pillows, though staff brought some quickly once requested. Everyone was very friendly. Wish room was a little more soind proof, traffic noise kept me awake.
- 5/5
Staff were professional and friendly - they went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience and provided good recommendations of places to go nearby. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
This place is an amazing spot to go too, from the amazing customer service, spacious room and restaurant. It’s worth the visit! Also close to the other hotels that might have events going on, worth the stay!!!
- 5/5
Everything is good. The location is convenient in Midtown the upgrade because I’ve been going there so often is a really appreciated. The front door staff everybody the front desk everything all polite courteous very nice housekeeping was great thank you again. See you again soon Ken.
- 5/5
The staff at The Shelburne could not have been better! They were all extremely welcoming and helpful. We also liked the hotel itself- vintage feel and excellent location. Would definitely stay again next time in NYC.
- 2/5
Didn’t come with breakfast
- 5/5
Perfect hotel for our stay this fall - the staff was lovely, and the rooms were a great size! We'd definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
A bit worn but very nice spot in midtown.
- 5/5
Always a great midtown stay- amazing prices- love the rooftop restaurant & bar!
- 3/5
ok
- 4/5
The room we had was very large for NYC. The room could use a little updating but it was overall perfect for our stay. Location is a few block from Times Square but perfect if you don’t to be right in the chaos of NYC but close enough to enjoy it still.
- 4/5
Good location if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle Times Square area. Yet close enough to get there by walking or taking the subway. The hotel offers large living areas and mini kitchen station. However, the bathroom is tiny. Sink and shower stall are small. Can’t really put anything on the sink area. The room itself is dated. I hear the Sonesta will be getting an update next year in 2036. It is definitely needed. But, if you don’t mind less modern type of hotel, the rooms are clean and the large living area with sofa bed is a plus. Nice area in lobby to enjoy lunch or to hang out before you need to be on your way somewhere. The entire staff is great. Very helpful and kind.
- 5/5
Location is great. A bit of a walk to the center of midtown, but we enjoyed that peace!! Rooms are LARGE for NYC. Rooftop is gorgeous and staff was lovely and kind. Clean and meets every need. I hope to be back!
- 4/5
My only complaint was the room was kind of stuffy when we checked in...we asked about turning down the air but the heat was on and we couldnt turn it off. THey recommended opening a window...which was kind of loud through the night. Restaurants were good and location is great and easy!
- 1/5
The hotel needs to be updated. The mattress and pillows were old as well. The hotel feels old. There was music playing all night during the first night of our stay coming from the speakers of the lobby. I am sure I was not the first to complain about it. I extended my stay for 3 for nights but I checked out and moved to another hotel.
- 3/5
Value for money. Nice hotel but expensive
- 4/5
Nice bedding
- 5/5
The rooftop restaurant is fantastic. Great location.
- 5/5
Everything was great !!! And the staff were superb, as always. I always keep coming back as this hotel is great !
- 3/5
They ran out of bottles of water and to had to change rooms twice
- 5/5
We didn't eat breakfast there.
- 4/5
Room was nice. Bathroom could use updating
- 2/5
Rooms in critical need of upgrade. Very noisy. 2 elevators for 16 floors.
- 5/5
Awesome stay, clean, friendly staff & excellent food options! Would stay here again!! Thank you!
- 5/5
Just good
- 5/5
Room better than expected - 1510 was spacious and well laid out for 3 adults and a baby
- 5/5
I didn’t have time for breakfast but the roof top bar is spectacular. Rooms spacious and clean. Hotel personnel above and beyond nice.
- 5/5
The staff was amazing loved how big the rooms are
- 4/5
Spacious rooms, great location!
- 5/5
Great staff. Great location. Would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
The size of the room was a pleasant surprise. It had plenty of space for us.
- 5/5
Excellent staff, amenities are very comfortable and great location!
- 5/5
Service was outstanding. Room was a little tired looking but clean
- 3/5
Good location. Rooms renovation required.
- 3/5
The hotel is in a pretty central location which was good. Front desk staff all seemed friendly. The roof top bar had great views. We didn’t get food/drinks there but were able to enjoy the views. The one bed room is very small. We had a terrible view - or no view - and our room was very dark with no natural light. The room was not that clean. There was mold in the shower grout. It’s rated as a four star hotel but it does not measure up. I would not stay here again.
- 4/5
Little above Average
- 5/5
Nice room this time. 1109. Get it next time?
- 4/5
The rooms are quite large and comfy for NYC. There was mold around the sink are that was unsettling. The arrival staff was pleasant, however when we leaving there was a lack of staff and the front desk personell was stressed and short with people. It took longer than necessary to get our car and bags. Overall it was a decent hotel and in a pinch it a fine place to stay.
- 4/5
We were hoping for a room with a view if the Empire State Building. But at least we still had a nice view of the road side of the building and not a brick wall like some guests were complaining about. The front desk staff was nice and made us feel welcome. They had a door man which was very nice for bringing luggage in and out and they were all so polite and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The lounge area was super nice and the roof top dining was beautiful. We didn’t eat any food but the drinks were good and I would say they weren’t any more expensive than any other place in New York. I loved that we were so close to the Empire State Building and every time we walked out the door the view was beautiful.
- 5/5
It was very nice
- 4/5
Overall had a great stay! The location was perfect. Super close to grand central station, made it easy for us to get around town as first timers. The elevators were really small. The rooms, elevators, and hallways look older in person than the pictures. Wish there was better lighting in the room itself, the large lamp stopped working after our first night. The showers were a mess, water would get everywhere since there’s no barrier or separation to the actual restroom area. The staff was wonderful. Very kind, polite and helpful. They did provide us with a daily limit of free water or snack. 2 per room. Housekeepers kept us stocked up we Never ran out of toilet paper or towels.
- 5/5
Great location! Amazing view from the rooftop restaurant/bar!
- 5/5
The hotel was a great value and close to the attractions we were visiting. Very clean! Visited the roof top bar where the drinks were well made but also quite pricey.
- 4/5
We were in room 202 right beside the gym and did not appreciate the banging at 5 in the morning.
- 3/5
On the pro side, I definitely shopped around and I believed this to be the best value for the money (I paid an average of $350/night including all taxes/fees) that I could find in Manhattan for the time I was there. Given that, I have no regrets about the choice. The staff were friendly and the room had everything I needed for a short trip where pretty much all I did in the hotel was sleep, shower and change clothes. It was fine for that. Having said that, it's an extremely old and run-down property that I would definitely consider "budget" vs. "boutique." There was an odd smell in my room that I didn't notice until the second day, so no idea what that was from. Also, while the bathroom was huge (largely a waste of space), the shower design was very poor...there was no way to take a shower without the showerhead spraying water direclty onto the bathroom floor, which just made a mess and created a slip hazard.

Great all around

Decent hotel. A bit expensive for quality and location.

From our arrival the staff were very helpful and friendly a special mention for Dennis and Adam on the door first class service couldn’t do enough for us. We ate in both restaurants and had great food. Our first visit and we will definitely stay again lovely hotel and room was very spacious for New York.

Could not review the studio suite because we didn't get to stay in it and had to stay in a regular room instead. The pictures on hotels.com and the property website are incorrect they show all rooms with a walk-in shower which is critical for those with mobility issues. Instead ALL studio suites (according to the person checking us in) have bathtubs with a shower. Only the non-suite rooms have "roll in" showers. We always look at the picture of the bathroom before booking a room and so we depend on the pictures being accurate. Other than that and it may not matter to others the room was fine. Ours was a little dated in the bathroom but otherwise comfortable (for a room) and well appointed. The staff were very nice. If the pictures had been accurate would have been a 4 or 5 start review.

Was amazed at the large size of my room. Incredibly quiet and comfortable. Spotless. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is convenient to everything. Highly recommend.

Staff was very nice. Rooftop bar was magical

I would happily stay in this hotel again, the location was great, only a few blocks away from Grand central.
- 5/5
nice :)
- 5/5
This hotel was in a nice quiet location, walkable to shopping, food & transportation.
- 5/5
Walkable to Grand Central. Staffs are efficient and kind.
- 5/5
Fantastic staff! Friendly, helpful, accommodating!

Fantastic spot
- 5/5
Had a wonderful stay! Our room was on the second floor but we still found it very quiet. Hotel has a great location and the rooftop terrace is a wonderful feature with great views. No issues during our stay! We also found it pretty good value for the price, although not sure the resort fee is really worth it given the only included amenity seemed to be the fitness center.

It had its own restaurant, but also had a great bagel place and pizza slice place just down the street and a 24 hour convenience store on the same block in case you wanted to keep an eye on budget. The reception staff could not have been more helpful and friendly and we really appreciated that. The rooms were spacious and clean, perhaps a tiny bit dated, but its totally insignificant when you are out sight seeing all day. The bed was made up every day and the towels were changed. The beds were very comfy and we had plenty of space. We are a family of 6 and had 3 x 2Queen bed rooms, so each of us had our own bed. It worked really well because we were also located next door to one another (we requested this ahead of time). The roof bar is very boojie and a little bit pricey (we were on a budget) but we went up for a drink and the view was amazing. The restaurant on site served fabulous breakfasts and so we ate there lots - kids loved the pancake stack. Thanks for a great stay.

Wonderful hotel in a great section of Manhattan Walkable area with plenty of restaurants
- 5/5
It was beautiful, clean, inviting. The staff was friendly and courteous and very welcoming. We were given a free upgrade and the room was amazing.
- 5/5
I would definitely stay here again. Front desk was very friendly and accommodating. Overall ac great experience
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly and the hotel was within proximity of a lot!
- 4/5
We had to pay for resort fees that we did not use. There was $5 food voucher from the message but they did not mention it when we checked-in at the reception. It was only offered/mentioned after subsequent contact.

Lovely stay in NY in The Shelburne Sonesta, in penthouse upgrade. Great staff very helpful. Absolutely nothing to pick from this hotel. Can see the Empire State building from the room. Stay in this hotel for an experience in NY.
- 4/5
Wry good overall
- 5/5
Great location. The staff was so friendly and very helpful. A special thanks to Adam for his awesome recommendations and he was so accommodating and provided excellent service. The rooftop bar was so nice with awesome views. There is a restaurant connected to the hotel with good food. The room was clean with comfortable bedding and bath/shower. We really enjoyed our stay

Staff was very polite, and hotel was great!
- 5/5
The hotel room and amenities were excellent. I loved the view of the Impire State Building! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooftop bar and restaurant was wonderful. Breakfast and dinner at the main level restaurant were delicious. The area is absolutely walkable. I've recommended it to friends going to NYC soon.

Liked the drink tickets and rooftop bar. Bathroom a little rough. Toilet paper holder falling off the wall.
- 4/5
Only thing I didn’t like that it’s very loud in the am, the cleaning people either dropping stuff on the floor or whatever they were doing. Everything else was perfect including the price!
- 5/5
The highlights for me were the private balcony views of the Empire State Building, the kitchenette (yes, even with an ice maker — such a luxury in NYC!), and the thoughtful details like zodiac-themed key cards that made the experience feel fun and unique. The staff was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond all week, which really made me feel at home. The location was perfect for exploring Midtown. I travel a lot for both business and events, and this hotel checked all the boxes: stylish, comfortable, and full of personality. I’ll definitely be back!
- 2/5
I’d like to add I was sent an option to upgrade the room in which I opted in. Upon arrival the front desk had no idea what I was talking about even after I showed him the email confirmation. This was definitely my first and last time staying in this hotel.
- 5/5
Great hotel in perfect location! Close to the heart of everything in a slightly more quiet residential area. The staff were very friendly and the hotel has a nice relaxed atmosphere.
- 5/5
This was a great hotel! Friendly staff and excellent location. Rooms are clean and the amenities are nice too!
- 5/5
Definitely check out the rooftop! Amazing and kind staff.
- 5/5
Great location, walkable and convenient to many sights and delicious restaurants. Would definitely recommend.
- 3/5
This hotel has seen quite a bit of wear and tear, the rooms were pretty worn out and bare bones. The lobby was nice and modern. The rooms were clean, and the staff were very nice at check in and check out and expedited that quickly. I would not stay there again, too many hotels for the same price point and area that are better maintained and offer more.
- 5/5
Great staff, amazing location

Staff were friendly and hotel clean.

This was a great find’ hotel was lovely, room was very comfortable and clean. Staff was very helpful. Location is great. I will definitely keep this on my radar and return in the future!
- 5/5
We were able to retrieve our car early (430am) which was great as some hotels don’t do 24 hour valet.
- 5/5
Excellent location and service
- 4/5
smaller than my expectation; food is good. lots of options. convenient. great location.
- 5/5
Great for family , lots of space in the rooms for NY. Hotel is a bit of a walk to subway is only downside
- 4/5
I liked the place, staff was super nice. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
So centralized that you can really find great food there or around the corner. Comfortable and had a great view
- 5/5
First night was in a very loud room on the second floor on the corner of 37th and Lex. I asked to be moved to a quiet room-- there are rooms facing "the couryard" which mostly means behind the building -- switched to a quiet room on the 7th floor and it was perfect-- probably the most quiet hotel room in NYC I've stayed in. The new restaurant in the lobby has great food-- and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Wonderful customer service. Great hotel location.
- 5/5
The friendliness and efficiency of the staff really made this stay excellent. That property itself was also very well kept and was a great value for the cost. ai would absolutely stay here again.
- 5/5
No awareness of gym facilities nor roof top bar/dining until late in stay.
- 5/5
All good
- 3/5
For the majority of our stay, the second elevator was broken. That was a huge inconvenience and impacted on our ability to come and go. Additionally, the air conditioning was not working in one of our two rooms. We called maintenance to come repair the problem, but their resolution after a lot of tinkering was to just put a fan in the room.
- 5/5
Location. Staff. Room
- 3/5
Front desk very friendly. Hallway on my floor was very hot. AC didn’t seem to be working on 15th floor. Elevator service was horrible. Took way too long. Almost had a panic attack due to the small elevator being fully packed since one elevator was not working. It stopped at every floor on the way down.
- 5/5
Love this place! Great service and room was amazing!
- 3/5
Parking like anywhere in New York was hard but $85 per day is a lot. I had to park somewhere else. The room was small and I was hoping for an upgrade but didn’t get it. The bathroom wasn’t that great. I think the hotel was okay. I did get 2 items per day either a drink or snack. I wouldn’t stay with small kids around this area maybe a place that is less chaotic.
- 5/5
Very welcoming staff. Breathtaking rooftop bar, excellent breakfast, large room
- 5/5
Great room with quiet streets. Staff was excellent. Rooftop is gorgeous.
- 5/5
Nice area...few blocks feom 2 subway stations
- 4/5
I stayed here because my daughter was in Langone Hospital and it was very convenient to walk there, and to restaurants. The room was quiet and comfortable.
- 5/5
Minor downside: The bathroom was awkwardly positioned and might have been a former closet. Also, not a fan of having to call to get ice brought to room.
- 5/5
Great stay, excellent location, very clean
- 5/5
Excellent staff. Great location, dining was amazing. Would stay again!
- 2/5
blood on the blanket
- 4/5
Overall a good place to stay. Good value and good room size. It was a plus that 2 queen beds were available per room. Downsides were the location, a little too far off the beaten path and the condition of the rooms. Drawers were very worn and warped and there was trash in the room upon check in
- 5/5
Everything about this property was fantastic. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the location was excellent, the room was very nice and large by New York City standards and the bed was super comfy!
- 4/5
Close walk to Grand Central Terminal, which you may know is one of the best ways to travel NYC is the subway. Couple blocks down from a tasy $1.50 pizza spot, perfect for the late night snack after a long day of walking the city. We had the apartment style room for a family of 4 and it was very spacious. I can't review the roof top bar/ restaurant cause we always missed the hours. My only complaint is the shower, and its lack of keeping water inside the shower pan. Maybe all that is needed are linger shower curtains, otherwise dont run the water too hard so that you don't get too much water out of the shower. Other than that, this hotel fulfulles our. requirements.
- 4/5
Great location easily walkable to subways and Grand Central. Rooms are very spacious for NYC standards. Village Green rooftop bar is gorgeous and fun cocktail menu! We didn’t receive housekeeping while we were there but not sure if it was by request only. Welcome amenities for my friend’s BD was a nice touch. Room feels a little dated but bed was very comfortable and room was especially quiet. Bell staff was always super helpful with directions and taxi retrieval.
- 5/5
Another great stay at the Shelburne (3rd time). Excellent service, large room (for NYC), and convenient location.
- 4/5
The room was dark there was no city view
- 4/5
Nice size rooms. One of the elevators was often not functional so it made waiting for the elevator long. Clean and responsive staff.
- 4/5
The room was clean when we arrived, The maids were not the best, we had to request more towels and they were great about bringing them. But we asked if they could remove the others and dirty dishes- they never did. Nor did they remove dirty cups nor did they replenish coffee. We only stayed a few nights, when we requested they didn't respond.
- 4/5
Room was spacious. I like that they had a fridge with a freezer. The only thing i disliked was when I sat on the toilet, the front of my left knee was touching a wall. I'm 5'6, 160s. Any taller, I would have to sit diagonally.
- 4/5
A perfect blend of comfort and location.
- 5/5
Nice place stay hard to get in room with key card and bathroom sink slow drain
- 5/5
Thank you for hospitality, great care and assistance. So close to all cool places, walking distance from Grand Central, Bryant Park, 5th Ave and many places nearby to explore/eat.
- 5/5
I will say the staff and overall experience was astounding. Everyone was very helpful and polite. I will definitely use the hotel again for my next stay in the city
