The staff were so helpful. The hotel was lovely and great location.

Super easy check in and out! Rooms was super small but it was perfect for a shoet weekend!
- 5/5
Everything was as advertised. Location was extremely convenient, room was almost soundproof on a busy street. There was someone at the desk at all times, even late at night. Would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Very Good location, subway is 2 stores down and the night life is very close.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay.

Bathroom/shower could’ve been cleaner. HVAC didn’t work so window AC was installed which made street noise very loud.

- 3/5
The hotel is on a busy corner in a busy neighborhood and is pretty minimalist given how much we paid - way overpriced. Our room was tiny with an uncomfortable bed and a bathroom so small you could barely get in there. Just one person at a time at the front desk but everyone was very helpful.
- 4/5
Overall the room and facilities were good. The staff were friendly and check-in was easy. Nice roof terrace. A/C, fridge, coffee maker and microwave in room and recycling facilites on the lower level. The bathroom needed a little work e.g the hair drying unit was not mounted to the wall, the caulking around the tub needed to be redone. The room would be small for 2 people due to limited storage space and space around the bed, fine for 1 person
- 4/5
Disgustingly dirty microwave. Stains on the headboard. Squeaky bed.
- 4/5
The hotel is not bad and is in a good location. Our room was clean, the bathtub had rust on it, though. Also, the toilet paper is cheaper than toilet paper in public bathrooms. One of the things that disappointed us the most is that the pictures of the rooftop area are misleading and outdated. The rooftop does not look like what they’re making it look like in the pictures. It’s under construction and covered now.
- 5/5
I love this hotel. Very functional, nice terrace on 7th floor, clean and absolutely amazing and fast to answer staff. Affordable :) considering NYC rates
- 5/5
Great location and value. Rooms are small but we are talking NYC. We slept 3 in our room and we were comfortable. I would definitely recommend it.

Second time staying at the Ridge Hotel in the L.E.S. My girlfriend & I really enjoyed it the first time we stayed so figured, why not book again? It is definitely prime real estate location wise. We love the rooftop amenities as well & the staff we encounter is always friendly. Though unfortunately on this visit our Air Conditioning did not work and our thermostat did not reach below under 80 degrees (83 at it’s warmest) when it wasn’t even that warm outside on any of the days we were booked. We had it set to cool and no matter what it never did. Waking up sweating & getting out of the shower to start sweating also is not something fun whatsoever. Definitely the reason I would dock them down for this visit.

Did not feel very safe with my room being right next to the main door. Felt like there was a lack of privacy given that there was minimal sound proofing. I could hear conversations outside and my own conversations could be heard from outside. Overall would not recommend and will not be staying here again.

Nice and helpful front desk staff. Our room floor was a bit dirty but the bed and shower were clean. Great location and convenient transportation options nearby. Would stay again,

The room was very clean, and the hotel was in a perfect location. Every staff member I encountered were very helpful. I had a great stay.

great location. very friendly staff. awesome value

We loved the rooftop. We ended each night up there because the view of the city is wonderful. The chairs are comfortable and we met others up there. They also have a basement community room to get more towels. Staff were friendly. Saturday night - it was loud due to the hopping bars and rooftop parties nearby. But we understand Thats just due to the location. Next time, I’ll keep the tv on, on weekend nights when we sleep.

On East Houston Street. Easy access to the East Village. Russ and Daughters (bagels) nearby; large Whole Foods a couple of blocks away. Very nice roof deck with large portion of it covered. Room was small, but adequate - I was only there for a couple of nights. Bed comfortable. New York is expensive and there are more luxurious accommodations elsewhere - for a couple hundred dollars more per night! I'd stay here again.

- 5/5
Roof top a bonus Which unlike picture is now enclosed with glass doors allowing more use
- 5/5
Check in is cumbersome, the rest is great.
- 4/5
Inside good. Location an issue. Kind of what you pay is what you get.
- 3/5
Bathroom sink was backed up when I checked in the evening. Altough they said theyll send someone the next day, no one came until I called again around noon. Someone was at my door within 10 mins and fixed the issue for my stay. The thermostat couldn't warm my room, the vent was blowing on me even though I tried to turn if off, the room was cramped. No sugar/utensils for the coffee Pros: fast self check-in and check out, fridge and microwave in the room.
- 4/5
The rooms were typically small, as most are in NYC. The staff was nice and the check in process and keyless entry were easy. The beds were quite hard and could have used more blankets and pillows. I asked for additional towels and was told I had to retrieve them from a shelf in the basement, which was well stocked with more.

The location was absolutely amazing. So close to everything sightseeing wise. Its a safe area too, right by the main road and a subway station is a 1min walk away. The rooftop is amazing too if you just want to relax after an entire day of walking. The room didnt get cleaned a single time within 5 nights but thats okay.

If you want to know how life was living in a tenement in NYC, stay at the Ridge Hotel. Whatever you do, if they assign you to room 101, run away. You are LITERALLY trying to sleep in the lobby. It is a door adjacent to the lobby and the main door, and all night long you hear people talking, the door opening and closing. At one point, we had to get out of bed and ask the people in the lobby to be quiet, there are people trying to sleep in this room RIGHT OFF THE LOBBY. Being on the ground floor, all conversations taking place outside the window on the street were clearly heard. There are no keys, you have to remember the code for the main door and a code to get into your room. If you don't have a smart phone, you're s**t out of luck. There was no warning, no option to say "this room is off the lobby and could be disturbing". Thankfully we only booked one night so we only had one night of restless sleep. We will NOT be back, and if they assign you room 101 - - - caveat emptor.
- 2/5
Location No internet on thé 6th floor No Room service
- 4/5
Air conditioning, heat, and shower were good. Good location on East Houston Street, near many shops and restaurants and not far to subway
- 3/5
Location is the singular benefit to staying here.
- 5/5
Great stay in a great area. Easy access to subway and taxis. Rooftop deck is excellent. Room was simple but fresh. Definitely will be back.
- 0.5/5
Position Very small and basic room, extremely noisy, no value for money
- 3/5
The staff Wilma was exceptional very helpful with directions transportation and restaurant referrals. Bed was too firm and uncomfortable
- 5/5
Super clean. Everything works.
- 3/5
Need a code not keys to enter the building and your room. The problem with that is the room doors automatically lock so you need to manually unlock it which that, combined with the automatic closing of the door turns into a VERY loud experience everytime you or a neighbor does that. So all you hear (and very much feel) are these loud BANGS every time someone enters or exits their room. I barely slept because of this.
- 5/5
Very pleasant stay! This is such a find on the lower east side and I’d definitely stay here again. The rooms are small but well designed. The staff at the front is great and helpful. The location is super convenient. If you want a clean and safe place to stay with good access to lower manhattan, I recommend the Ridge.
- 4/5
The location is great and value for money is good. Also the rooftop is cool The rooms are very small
- 2/5
Air con not working properly; finishes all fraying and worn; what seems to be non-compliant electrical setup (extension cord for appliances?); minimal low-quality bedding with no blanket/no extra warmth; minimal and threadbare linens, with very little supply in the basement (didn’t enjoy having to go to the basement to scrounge for supplies at $300 per night. Would not recommend to anyone over the age of 25
- 4/5
Great location near diverse restaurants, neighborhoods and subway stations. Excellent hotel for solo travel.
- 4.5/5
Great location with friendly staff. Secure system that did not require a key - just a code which was great as you could not lose the key. Free to use safe in room. Room was very small for 2 people. No room to put luggage let alone unpack!

Fairly simple property. Very Reasonably priced w/ Easy check in/out & Good location.
- 3/5
The hotel was quite noisy, door slamming was very loud and could be heard clearly from the room. The floor didn’t feel very clean. However, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciated
- 1.5/5
The location is great - conveniently situated right by the metro and train stations, as well as a Whole Foods for grabbing a quick, affordable dinner. The roof terrace was another highlight, offering a wonderful, quiet space to focus and catch up on work. While the room was clean, it felt a bit rundown for the price. We noticed several maintenance issues, including a broken cupboard door, some mold in the bathroom, and chipped plaster on the walls. Additionally, although it was advertised to accommodate three adults, the space felt quite cramped. Missing Hotel wifi on the roof terrace was a bit disappointing.

Each room has a microwave/ mini fridge & with a Whole Foods just two blocks away it’s easy to keep things budget-friendly. The rooms aren’t huge but they’re clean & have everything I need. There’s even an HDMI TV—I always plug in my Roku stick. Perhaps, one of the best features is the rooftop terrace -with breathtaking city views. The location is perfect—walkable to Little Italy, Chinatown, Washington Square, the East Village, Katz’s, Russ & Daughters & Yonah Schimmel Knishes just a block away. The subway is a quick 3-minute walk. I travel solo & I’ve always felt safe here-day or night. Yes, there’s street noise—it’s New York—but a white noise app solves that. For the price & convenience The Ridge can’t be beat. I almost didn’t write this because it feels like my secret hidden gem but it truly deserves the praise. Huge thanks to Jasmine, Wilma, Edgard, Orlando, & the young man who had to keep delivering packages to my room on my recent stay. If anything comes up, just ask— they handle everything quickly & kindly. I’ll never stay anywhere else!

Great stay
- 5/5
Room was clean. Safe, secure building. Nice rooftop patio. Jasmine at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. It was loud but it's New York so you should expect that. It didn't affect my opinion of the hotel. I'd stay there again!
- 3.5/5
Location Small room with no room phone and no restaurant.
- 4/5
The location is great, walkable to just about anything. Loved the roof deck. Rooms are good, nothing fancy, but everything you need.
- 5/5
The hotel is in a central location; subway is at the corner. While it says there is no front desk staff, they do always have someone at the front; just in case. But the convenience of receiving all the information the day of is great! You don’t have to stress about making it for check-in. While the restroom did have some rust around the tub, the sheets were clean and the room it self was clean too. Would definitely stay again( I hardly was ever there just needed a safe place to sleep) if that’s what you are looking for definitely recommend.

- 3/5
a perfectly serviceable hotel close to the train and tons of food and shops. it’s clean and the staff is very helpful and sweet. it’s *loud* though, especially if your room faces Houston. the rooms are small, the bed is fine but not particularly comfortable. the linens are pretty terrible. all that said, I’d probably stay there again but ask for a room on the other side of building. it’s really convenient if you’re visiting to do stuff and not spend time in the room. it feels safe and has a cute roof deck and every person at the front desk was very sweet. it could really use 20% more attention to comfort, though.

Helpful staff Comfy bed Great location Aircon could have been better
- 4/5
They only hold your luggage for a few hours after you check out so if you have a late flight out of NYC (like I did) you're totally screwed. I had to go down the block and rented a room for 1 day at the Gatsby because my flight left at 8:45 pm and I couldn't haul 2 suitcases all day.
- 5/5
This is a perfect little room for a night or two in the city. Everything is clean and comfortable. Great location downtown. Make sure to grab a bagel and a coffee at Russ & Daughter one block away!

3* at best
- 4/5
Great location and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Amazing location and we had the best view from our room
- 3/5
I stayed 3 days by myself. I certainly wouldn't stay here ith myself but it was an okay value for a quick solo trip. My door code didn't work two of the three days, requiring me to go back to the lobby to get a new code both times. The staff were okay; certainly didn't apologize for the code not working but they did resolve it. AC didn't work my final night, when it was 90+ degrees outside. If it's <$150 a night I'd stay here again. If it's more than that it's a no go.
- 2/5
Wall mount ac unit, room didnt get colder then 75 and it is mid-April. Shower didnt drain, that was disgusting. Floor was tore up, like wood scraped so bad i didnt feel comfortable not wearing shoes. It was dirty, hair everywhere. Dont even get me started on the bed
- 3/5
The AC was out, and although the staff apologized when i checked out, there was no offer of a partial refund or anything, and the room was pretty stifling. Also, the email check in system is dysfunctional. I didn't get a request to fill it in until 1330 on the day I was to check in. It used to come 24 hours in advance, and I was in mid-travel when it arrived. And although I filled it out, it had clearly not uploaded to the system, and I never received the email with entry codes. If I had arrived late, I would have been unable to get in.
- 5/5
The room was very nice , but I couldn’t turn down the temperature in the room. It was 77 which is way too hot
- 4/5
Worked great for us.

- 3/5
The Ridge benefits from a great location. The room was clean, but amenities in the room and lobby are not as nice as the pictures on Expedia. The staff was spotty, usually friendly, but not always helpful. The AC wasn’t working and it was HOT in our room. After notifying the front desk twice, a helpful employee explained why the AC wasn’t functioning and supplied us with a small fan - this improved the situation. The rooftop lounge area is great and the price seemed fair.
- 3/5
You get what you pay for. A/C was out for the length of our stay which sucked pretty bad but at least they gave us a fan lol. Getting towels is self service meaning you have to go to the basement and get it yourself. No amenities besides rooftop, this didn’t bother us because we were out most of our stay. Rooms are small but that’s NY. The good thing is that the location is really good. Usually a 10-25 min walk
- 5/5
Wonderful location! Feels like a cozy apartment. Very pleased with my stay.
- 5/5
The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. We were able to store our luggage and within an hour our room was ready. We enjoyed the rooftop deck as it had great views of New York City. The room was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely book this property again.
- 4/5
The hotel was convenient and in a great location. I would definitely stay in this area again. It was clean. My only complaint was that the fridge wasn't working and the blind wouldnt work both of which I reported to reception.

2star
- 5/5
The hotel was as advertised and quite clean with good bedding. It is a small venue but that was expected. The rooftop is fun, although the weather kept us away for most of our stay. The codes all worked and access was easy. Good value.

- 2.5/5
Location was great and very close to the subway station. No noise issue but we stayed at the 6th floor There were flies buzzing in our room and the room smelt like cigarettes and coffee. The AC was broken for a few days and the sink was clogged too. The whole room is very small but eh you get what you paid for here
- 4/5
Great location. Comfortable bed. Nice rooftop.
- 5/5
Great value and location!
- 4/5
Great location for east village\soho! If you need a place to sleep and shower, this is a great option and a good value for the price. It felt safe, code system and check in were easy. There was free in room coffee and snacks in the lobby which is a big bonus for me. Room was bigger than most in that area and the bathroom was more private than others nearby. Bed was fine, sheets and pillows were below average. Room was clean although the place felt a little run down. Tv didn’t work, lighting in bath didn’t work, but it was fine. The staff we did encounter were great. If you want a cool place to hang out, this isn’t it but if you want to be out and about all day it’s a great option!
- 5/5
Clean room, friendly staff
- 3/5
The room got up to 85° ! It woke us up, and we couldn't get back to sleep. The toilet kept running and gathering puddles of water. The remor controll batteries were dead, and we couldn't turn the TV off it made for another uncomfortable night of sleep.
- 5/5
I’ve stayed here twice and love it. It’s simple, cost effective and just what I need when I’m going to a venue nearby which is why I have stayed there twice. Contactless check in is amazing
- 4/5
Only issue was AC was about 75-78F for the duration of the stay, no matter what settings I tried, it just wouldnt get cold in the room, if I stayed over summer it would be a real problem.
- 4/5
Towels were super thin. The bed was on the floor.
- 5/5
Mattress was very firm, which I like. Great place for the price.
- 5/5
It was exactly what I wanted and needed! I always do a lot of research on my trips. The description and the area felt right. Great communication throughout, peace of mind and easy check in online.Got right in with the codes, looked at the room and it was perfect for the small amount of time you spend in your room in the City. Dropped my bags, went to nearby store for beer and went up to the 7th floor rooftop and relax, enjoy the view before heading out to my event. Anything you want is close by, stores, restaurants, walking, subway, great area! Came back for a comfortable nights sleep. Got up get a cup of coffee and a snack in the lobby. Very little contact but there was someone there to answer questions. Said goodbye and look forward to my next stay there. Felt comfortable and right at home the whole time. Thanks!
- 4/5
Great location but the beds are not comfortable at all.
- 3/5
ok The wifi didn't work for a single day. And the staff didn't pay attention to it. Tea, sugar and spoons were not available.
- 3/5
The location was great, condition of bathroom needs repairs. The sink the chipping and the tiles around the tub had fallen out . The bathroom ceiling was rusted. Bedroom was very clean
- 3/5
Keypad entry was difficult.
- 3/5
good hotel for the price but annoying check in process
- 4/5
The room was mostly clean and the bathroom was massive for New York -- it even had a bathtub! The bed was very nice and staff were kind, always greeting us. However, they cannot hold your luggage before or after your stay, which was the only inconvenience we faced. Rooftop view was nice as well. We smelled weed in the hallway briefly but it disappeared quickly and was not an issue.
- 0.5/5
Bad hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE! They are so rude. Stay elsewhere!
- 1/5
The staff was amazing and very helpful! I think this hotel is falsely advertised on the internet! I have a couple things to complain about. At first the lock to our door wasn't working and it took two separate people and multiple trips to get us in. Then when we entered the room for 79 degrees! This room was advertised and in my room description said air conditioning. That was FALSE! It was a consistent 78 degrees in our room. We had multiple people come look at it and was told it would get better! We had no other fan and my request to change rooms was denied. Also the windows don't let in ANY air. We had the windows open the entire time to let in the 30-50 degree outside weather in and it didn't happen. Me and my travel companion did not sleep very well due to the heat. We were also miserable showering knowing that we weren't going to be able to handle the heat of the shower and the room. The only saving grace of The Ridge was the staff! They were prompt and extremely nice to us. We were able to hold our luggage while we went and explored. I will be writing a review of this place and will advise people NOT to stay here. The employees are the only saving grace here.
- 4/5
Perfect location for nightlife. Basic amenities. Friendly staff.

Great spot if you need an overnight or quick weekend stay. We stayed for a wedding weekend and it was perfect. If you’re looking for room service, restaurants and spas, this isn’t the hotel for you to stay.

The walls though are paper thin. You can easily hear other guests’ conversations. Our AC didnt work. And there’s some mold growing on the grout in the shower. But oh well you get what you pay for!!
- 3/5
I stayed here for 4 nights, the place was relatively clean but you could tell it is an older building. My main problem was that I had no washcloths for 2 nights and when I asked for them on both nights I was told that there would be some there in the morning once the delivery came and they never arrived in the downstairs common area where they keep the linens for the guest to pick from. I had to go to the Walgreens down the street to purchase a loofa to take a decent shower.
- 4/5
Location was excellent and check-in was a breeze. I had to call them to receive the code (it was supposed to be emailed to me) but I spoke with someone who sent it quickly. The rooms are small but I expected that. The bathroom was updated though which was nice. They have a rooftop area that seemed deserted at the time. Maybe in the warmer weather it would be busier. Also there's a C-level which has a couch and tv and small kitchen area which could use some updating. One thing I was would suggest was the bed frame was very low to the ground. I would have preferred it be a little higher up on a frame. It seemed more like a futon.
- 5/5
Easy check in, luggage storage is a huge plus. Clean and comfortable room, would definitely stay again!! Great location in a lovely neighborhood, easy access to public transportation to get anywhere in Manhattan!

- 4/5
I usually stay at hotel where the room service is included, this one have that option for a fee. Overall great option to stay!
- 4.5/5
Location is amazing. Hotel is super clean (lobby, rooms and all common areas). It will be nice to offer turn-down service and replacement of towels. (at least 1-2 times for someone staying 5 nights). Hotels of the same stars and price offer that service on a daily basis (within proximity to this hotel as well).
- 5/5
Easy to locate. Staff was very helpful. Room was bigger than what we were expecting which was awesome. It is close to some areas in Little Italy. Right next to multiple subway entrances. I recommend for sure! We will be staying here again in the future
- 5/5
Everything was of satisfactory, staff, room everything was great. I didn’t have a problem, I was very satisfied.
- 4/5
Great location to visit all the attractions. V easy to get there by air train and subway. Subway easy to use and cheap. Loads of great bars and restaurants nearby. The room was quiet at the back of the hotel. Beds comfortable. Shower pressure great. The only disappointment was the wardrobe space..not enough for our 5 nights. Staff friendly and helpful and held our luggage till 3pm on last day. We felt it was amazing value for money.
- 2/5
Bed was not good room wasn’t good
- 4/5
The hotel is small and dated but great location. Bed was quite stiff. The biggest issue might be the lack of staff. This is a semi virtual hotel and it shows. I was not sent any check-in information before my stay and luckily there was someone on site to re-issue it. (I actually received the check in information a full week after my stay had already ended!). The other concern was that I requested a late check out via text message and received confirmation that was OK. However when I went back to my room to get my belongings and leave, the door code had locked me out leaving me scrambling to get to the airport. There was no one on site and no one responded to my text messages or phone calls for almost 2 hours. I was finally able to find a member of the cleaning staff to let me into my room to retrieve my bags. When I did finally hear back from the hotel it was a Curt message about how checkout time was 11 AM. When I shared the screenshots of my approval to check out later, nothing was said.

Room was clean, in a good location and allowed us to travel around the East Side and Chinatown without too much stress :)

‘No front desk’ is a silly way to run a hotel and should absolutely be disclosed very clearly *before* booking.
- 5/5
Always great to stay here. Love the hands off vibez
- 4/5
Sufficient hotel for a short stay. My only complaint is the air system, every time the air shut off it made an incredibly loud smacking/cracking noise like a door being slammed. This was constant and woke me up every 45 minutes throughout the night. There’s no way the hotel isn’t aware of this. If that gets fixed, everything else was good!

Room was fine and a good price, but it wasn’t clear when I reserved it that there is no staff there after hours and you have to upload photos of both your photo ID and credit card to complete the reservation, which you don’t know until after you’ve already booked the room and I didn’t like doing. That should be made clear before booking the reservation and was a pain.

Although my room was located on the 6th floor. I was still disturbed often from the traffic noises of horn blowing and sirens blasting. I did not have a face/body wash cloth and there was no phone to communicate with, so I had to go down to the lobby. Even after reporting and requesting for a washcloth. I still was not provided a washcloth. There were free coffee and cream but no sugar or sweetener available. I was informed that the owner does not allow sugar in this facility. I didn't quite understand because not many people I know drink coffee with some type of additive to enhance the coffee flavor.

Room was small and some aging was noticeable but clean and comfortable with typical hotel amenities.

Hotel had horrible perfumey smell. It was like they used unstoppables for linens and who knows what else for cleaning supplies. Was getting a migraine within an hour of check in. Hotels need to remember some guests can't handle strong smells.

It’s in the Lower East Side so I was able to get to a lot of places around the city easily with the trains that were nearby. A lot of restaurants, bars and a CVS for groceries nearby too so it was convenient. Sometimes the heating system wouldn’t work properly so it would either get really hot or not.
- 4/5
I had a great stay. The front clerk was super friendly and helpful! Love that the subway was a very easy access.

It was cumbersome to make reservations and receive crucial information about my stay such as confirmation of purchase, door code, room number and code. I arrived late in the afternoon on a cold day with my 7yo and if it wasn't for other guests that opened the door to the lobby for me I would have been left outside in the cold. I wrote and didn't get a fast reply, and then called and got to someone immediately who told me the email with this information had been sent. In the called we figured out that I had no received the email because my email address on file was incorrect (had one character too many) After that it was all smooth sailing. I would suggest that for guests making reservations via Booking, who later call you provide a Whatsapp number or similar so that crucial information like names numbers and emails can be written instead of spelled out over the phone.

Excellent price, location. Clean and really hot water. Great value for self sufficient travelers - love staying here.

Exactly what I was looking for. Clean room with private bathroom at a great price. Roof deck terrace was a bonus. Fun location and steps from the subway.
- 3/5
You should have had a disclaimer about the location of Room 101. Sleeping in that room is like sleeping out on the sidewalk….and we were there on a Friday night!!! Between the people standing outside our window and the flow of people coming in the front door, it was impossible to really sleep.

Great location and really well run. It's a simple system, and although untraditional in its approach to a lobby and check in, it worked well. Nice, clean, well-appointed room. Will return!
- 5/5
Convenient location
- 1/5
Receptionists weren't present at all even for assistance with room amenities. Rooms not soundproof as advertised and guests were kept awake well after quiet hours. Room lacked basic and sufficient amount of supplies for guests. Will not recommend for an extended stay longer than one night.
- 5/5
The staff was great! The room was perfect for what we payed for and great location to parts of the city!
- 2/5

- 4/5

自助有点麻烦!
- 5/5
There were front desk attendants there at all times that were always friendly, but since the experience was so seamless we didn’t require assistance for anything, except when they were kind enough to hold our luggage after check out for a couple of hours.
- 4/5
I loved the location - in the heart of the lower east side of Manhattan - and the room served its purpose as sleeping/showering quarters with heat. Its no frills with no maid service (unless you pay for it) and staff is only available during core hours. However, everything ran smoothly and the room was supplied with everything I needed. It was perfect for my objective - to explore the area and have a safe/clean place to sleep and take a shower. I will stay here the next time I am in town.
- 2/5
The room was small. OK for a place to lay your head a few hours. Bed felt like a non luxury box spring, 3 wilted pillows on queen bed, no soap in shower dispenser, no snacks or water in rooms just a place to lay your head. Not a bad place to choose, but not a good place to book for vacation, special days. Just a place to "safely" lay your head til 11AM. Quiet but near EVERYTHING.
- 1/5
Non refundable, did not state policy about no staff and no luggage storage until after non-refundable payment was made. Did not stay there and trying to get a refund through credit card.
- 5/5
The room was pleasantly clean and comfortable and well organized.

Room was excellent. Quiet. Easy access to subway station, near Manhattan bridge and WTC
- 1/5
Worst experience ever staying in hotel !! Never again going to this type of hotel
- 4/5
Some of mattresses need to be replaced.
- 2/5
This was a cheap option and you will get what you pay for. On the positive, great location close to train, restaurants, and entertainment. If you’re not spending time in the room, this is great. The downsides were: uncomfortable bed and only three terrible pillows, small space, light fixtures broken, sticky floor, and the walls are paper thin. Also do not book on first floor(obv) you will be up all night.
- 4/5
Everything was good, except bed was a bit hard and the AC sounded like it was leaking.
- 5/5
Service was amazing. A will def considered returning
- 4/5
The location was great! The room was clean. Staff was friendly and kept our bags until 3pm after check out. Check in and out done online which was nice. The tub clogged but it was whatever. Small room but this is NYC. Would stay again.
- 4/5
Courteous, room was small
- 5/5
Nice property, great price for the location and if you’d like to walk and just see the city, this is a great place to stay. Unlimited food and shopping options around.
- 2/5
The rooms are tiny!!!
- 4/5
Great location and easy access to subway and iconic spots like Katz’s and Russ and Daughters. Easy walk to The Public Theater. Clean and comfortable. Would stay again.
- 5/5
It was a great stay. Super convenient for the train. In the middle of the area so we will be back again
- 4/5
Hotel exactly as described. Great if you use it to sleep and shower. Only a couple blocks from the train so was perfect for us jockeying to WTC and Rockefeller Center. Bed wasn’t great but not the worst I’ve slept in
- 4/5
Staff seemed courteous and when we needed something they responded right away. The room was mostly clean, but there was dirt/dust collected in the handles of the nightstand. Personally didn’t like the soap because it smelled like old lady perfume but I know more people prefer that rose water scent than don’t. I didn’t like that the fridge and microwave were plugged in by an extension cord running from the outlet behind a nightstand across the room. Technically the room was pretty accessible but there definitely wasn’t enough room to turn a wheelchair around except maybe in the bathroom. Shower had a low, angled lip but also maybe it was too high for a chair to roll in. Also might have been difficult to reach hangers in wardrobe or hooks on wall because they’re too high. One of the sconces by bed was missing the glass shade. Bed was pretty comfortable and seemed a good height but could maybe have used a grab bar near the wall. WiFi is terrible and we could have used a guide to navigate TV or ability to cast from phone to TV. A fine place to sleep for a short stay, clean enough, comfortable and felt safe. Bathroom was really nice and seemed recently renovated. Since our room was at street level it would have been nice to a sound machine or white noise option to drown out late night bar noise. A twenty minute walk to Webster Hall was convenient and why we chose the Ridge.

Great location. Bus and Subways stations nearby can go to Central Park or Manhattan in very little time. Close (walking range) to SOHO.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and helpful. The check in process was a bit complicated. I was unaware that I would be emailed my room information. Don’t know how it ended up in my spam folder. But i was able to get it figured out. The bathroom had a minor clog and had to stand in dirty water due to not having a clear drain. We also did not get clean towels. This may be my misunderstanding. Other than that, everything else was addressed well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a budget friendly place within a convenient location in New York city.
- 5/5
Place is clean and in a great location.
- 5/5
Friendly, helpful staff and great location for a low budget hotel, I will choose this one.
- 5/5
Very clean room and great bed. Simple and small, but good value (for NYC), safe, and great location. There was a water leak in bathroom from room above us one night, but by our return next evening if was totally fixed and our ceiling tiles were brand new! Good places for coffee nearby. Our room faced Houston I was was worried about noise, but excellent soundproofing and what an amazing view of Midtown. Recommend!
- 3/5
Great location. Friendly host when on duty. Small rooms. Thin walls. Sound travels. Loud outside, lots of bars and traffic. Close subway stop. Lots of food, bars and shops in easy walking distance
- 5/5
Clean. Private.
- 4/5
The staff was amazing! Incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was great for our purposes.
- 4/5
All of the. Above
- 5/5
Our room was clean, despite it's small size it had a closet, TV, microwave, coffee maker, complimentary waters, and a refrigerator. Check in was so easy with the codes. Free snacks are in the lobby. We would stay here again!
- 4/5
rooms were nice. walls are thin and can be very noisy at night, but good for the pricepoint
- 5/5
Only negative of my stay was my room location on the first floor right next to the coffee station. Other guests tend to congregate in the area early morning and late evenings, not the best for light sleepers.
- 2/5
No soap in the room…and trash WiFi …eco friendly. You get what you pay for.
- 1/5
Grimy common areas, worse room. There were random hairs all over the place and the sheets were stained. The room never got cooler than 78 degrees. When it got up to 82 I turned on the dinky window AC and it rattled so badly that O thought it was going to fall out of the window. Unpleasant all around. Good location, at least
- 4/5
Great location between east village and the lower east side. Room was comfortable and clean.
- 4/5
Good location, clean room, easy check in/out.
- 5/5
What a deal. Clean secure inexpensive and great location.
- 3/5
One staff member on phone was not courteous. Room was poky and just one set of sockets. No space to hang clothes other than 4 hooks on the wall. The photos on Expedia make the hotel look far better than it is. It is at most a 2 star or even a 1.5 star not a 3 star as listed.
- 4/5
And they will do some housekeeping during your stay if you request. If you need extra towels you can go down to the common area (a break room with a kitchen in basement ) and get them. That area of East Village has a ton of graffiti and trash, stickers up everywhere. It’s safe, just dirty. The hotel is not; it’s just in the middle of all of that. But…you have iconic Katz’s Deli right nearby, cute shops and other restaurants within a few blocks, Russ & Daughters deli has great bagels, Lil Frankies is a good Italian place, Madam Vo’s is a great vietnamese restaurant closeby. And a subway stop just around the corner.
- 5/5
Everything was great—especially the price!
- 3/5
The highlight of this property is definitely the rooftop patio on the 7th floor. It offers long range views of Manhattan, which is especially beautiful at night.
- 4/5
The room was very small but perfectly fine for what you need when visiting New York, unless you plan to spend a lot of time in the room and not out and about. As a solo traveler or couple, it is totally fine. Would not recommend if you have kids.

- 5/5
Comfortable room, polite staff, good wifi, strategic location. A bit pricey and the fact that reception is not always manned is a bit inconvenient but for NY is not bad.
- 3/5
Bed ugh! Pillows horrible. Definitely not at least 3 star
- 4/5
This was an affordable spot in a great location! The contactless check-in, check-out made things easy. The amenities weren't great, but included what was needed for the most part.
- 4/5
AC was not needed. Easy to get around.
- 5/5
Room was very nice and clean. Staff is incredible! Very convenient to get around
- 5/5
Friendly and convenient. Room was clean and comfortable.
- 4/5
Quite spot, fare
- 2/5
Unbelievable that this is how hotels are now. No amenities. They lied when the said they could accommodate me.
- 2/5
Rooms were way to small, way overpriced, no desk to work from and the "lounge" is a joke. It reminded me of a hostel.
- 4/5
This place was great to stay at for the location and area. Lots and lots of food/bar options and the variety of cuisine is great. Also lots of shopping options. And it is right next to a stop for the subway which was very convenient. We did have black hairs all over our floor when we arrived, which were not our hairs. The mattress was not great, and the shower door didn’t close all the way so water leaked out. There’s one small mirror in whole room so that was struggle to get ready. And we saw the reviews about it being loud so we knew it was coming, but we can attest that it was loud if you have a street view as it is right next to a ro
- 3/5
There was no air conditioning, so it was unpleasantly warm in the room. I can't imagine staying here in the summer. It would be unbearable. A small unit in the room would be a massive improvement, especially since it is small, it wouldn't take much to cool it off.
- 3/5
Cleanliness could be better. There were pubes in the shower next to the shampoo they provide, and tons of messed up ceiling tiles in the restroom. Places for weirdos to put cameras… Water in the shower ran brown for about 5mins before clearing up. Room was extremely small, but I wasn’t in there much anyway.
- 4/5
No towels, no shampoo in the room,
- 3/5
The room was clean and the bathroom so nice they didn’t go together. Everything about the room was cheap, and that goes double for the hall outside. I would not be comfortable staying there alone.
- 1/5
Could not change or cancel trip.
- 3/5
Good location, okay property
- 4/5

- 4/5

- 1/5
Not very good service
- 4/5
Smooth situation overall. You know what you're getting, no normal hotel, amenities or concierge help or room help but that's why it's one of the cheaper nicer looking hotels in the area. Definitely need better mattresses, and they need to clean the rooftop on a more regular basis because unfortunately patrons of the hotel tend to leave their trash or beer bottles up top but overall we enjoyed our experience.
- 5/5
Staff was great, accommodations nice and clean. Recommended.
- 5/5
Very clean and accommodations were just what we needed. Much more affordable than others in the area. They will email you instructions for accessing the building and your room. My biggest wish would be for slightly larger bath towels, one hand towel per guest (there were none), and one wash cloth per guest (there was only one wash cloth for the room).
- 5/5
The front desk was welcoming and very helpful!
- 5/5
Clean and convenient
- 4/5
For the price, you can’t beat it
- 4/5

- 1/5
The room was quite crunched and the hotel is entirely self service so not very convenient. Though located accessible from transport options the hotel itself wasn’t that great for the price.
- 3/5
The room was very small and noisy. The bed was ok any the bathroom was huge. The area around the hotel was pretty sketchy. Didn’t feel very safe. Wouldn’t book there again for that price.
- 3/5
The beds were quite squeaky and I was alone. I was on a low floor so street noise was present. The room was a bit chilly with no extra blanket. The roof terrace was closed for renovations which was the most appealing. I left a day early. The staff was nice.

- 5/5
The staff was extremely helpful, providing me with information about the area, directions, etc.
- 5/5
Clean, convenient to subway, small room ok for short stay
- 5/5
The staff, Orlando and Jasmine, were very helpful and kind. Clean rooms, nice stay overall. Great location.

Great stay. Lots of restaurants and bars close by. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Excellent showers.
- 5/5
Super friendly receptionist, great location. Get a room on the upper floors to help with noise
- 5/5
Great place.. Will come back!
- 4/5
Glad to see there was someone at the front desk almost every time we went in or out. Wish I had been able to find the information about the microwave and fridge in my room (happy it was there but wished I had known… I looked before my trip)
- 5/5
Staff was very very friendly and made the check in process very easy when we had a problem
- 5/5
A well kept hotel.
- 5/5
Overall it was a great place but you do have a bar next door so on weekends it does get loud if you get a room facing the street.
- 5/5
Wonderful place. Very convenient. Close to restaurants and bars. Right next to subway station.
- 5/5
I 😘 ve this place for travelling solo. I had a double bed single room and it was perfect. Perfect temperature. There was ac and a ceiling fan that blew perfectly. The bed was super comfortable. I didn't think that there was going to be staff but there was and they helped me adjust my lighting. I would definitely stay here again. Great value in the village!!
- 5/5
Clean, good space, everything i needed
- 4/5
The hotel was affordable and did its job. Just that if you’re facing the Main Street, you might hear the hustle and bustle of the cars on the street. For the price thought and location, I’d book again.
- 5/5
Cleaned rooms, friendly front staff
- 3/5
Very small and noisy.
- 4/5
Small room but NICEST BATHROOM IVE seen. GREAT BED. Comes with microwave, fridge. LOCATED RIGHT BY KATZ DELI. Perfect for going to bars or late night eating. Would 100% stay again.
- 1/5
I had a terrible experience with the ridge after realizing that my booking date was wrong within 5 seconds of booking. All I wanted was for my reservation to be moved to the following weekend but they refused to help with this and essentially took hundreds of dollars from me without providing me with a service. The front desk bluntly let m know that the owner could easily help me but won't.
- 4/5
Easy check in and helpful staff.
- 3/5
Not worth it.
- 2/5
We had called the property before we booked and asked about the rooftop and whether it would be open or not, and they told us it was however, when we got there, there was no rooftop permitted. That was the reason we were staying there and they misled us before we made the reservation. And they would not do anything for compensation on the back end when we checked out I believe this was very misleading and I think there was a lot of people that were very upset about this.
- 2/5
Overall I don't like that receptionist lady she always talking angry face and she didn't support.
- 4/5
Great place and location in New York. The rooms could be touched up a bit but overall was good
- 4/5
The hotel is perfectly situated. There’s a ton of things to do. It’s a nice, clean , chill spot to stay the night.
- 5/5
There were plenty of restaurants in the area and we tried a few. The ones we chose turned out to be very good. The first night we had a problem with the bed squeaking whenever we moved. After a few adjustments, it was fine the rest of the nights. Overall, the bed was comfortable and the sheets clean.
- 5/5
Easy to get to
- 5/5
Perfect location for exploring the Lower East side. Easy subway access. Staff were very helpful as we needed to leave bags while we toured on our last day. Lobby is to always staffed but they have a sister hotel nearby so they send staff over to assist as needed. Room was small but perfect. Toiletries are barebones but less wasteful so I am good with that. Only disappointment was the roof top was under renovation so didn’t get to see it. Oh well, next time!
- 5/5
Wonderful spot in the heart of the lower east side at a reasonable price. My third time staying there and I will be back.
- 4/5
This hotel is unique because it is not the traditional hotel. We wanted some where to stay without the cost of the expensive amenities that we would not have used while visiting New York. It was a clean room, very private and easy to get to. We did a lot of sightseeing which meant we were out 80% of the day and just used the hotel to sleep and clean up. It was perfect! There are several restaurants, cafes, and parks to walk through. If you have a vehicle, plan on using a garage, there is no hotel parking. I will definitely be visiting the Ridge hotel again.
- 3/5
currently undergoing renovations and the rooftop was closed
- 3/5
Loud construction and was not notified before booking that the rooftop and common area was closed. We had multiple stains on the ceiling and in the bathtub (don’t even want to know what it was) toilet roll holder was broken, not as easy to access fresh towels and sheets as we had imagined. Would only stay here again if i absolutely had to.
- 3/5
So while I have no issue with basic, this was a little too basic. The AC was a noisy window unit, there was no type of daily room cleaning, and absolutely NO amenities. Had I known they don’t clean the room I definitely wouldn’t have booked there. Also, the beds were terribly stiff and uncomfortable. It wasn’t a terrible experience by any means, but I definitely won’t be back.
- 4/5
Really nice place and will be a choice for my frequent NYC stays in the future. Easy accessibility to public transportation, restaurants and shopping. Room was clean and had a good sized fridge and microwave and was quiet. I didn’t give it 5 stars because their rooftop deck, which is highlighted in their description of the property, which I was looking forward to using, was closed for maintenance and closed before I reserved and never mentioned in the confirmation email. Wouldn’t have changed my mind about staying there, but would’ve appreciated knowing about it beforehand.
- 4/5
The room was clean & quiet, which I appreciated.
- 5/5
They are going in your room and taking what they please toiletries clothes . And the back of the safe is removable and ges in to a wall cubby partially and unnecessarily No
- 3/5
I like the good service. Especially Jasmine she was awesome. However some of the staff are rude over the phone. I was asking for some important info on the hotel over call, and the man at the desk was highly rude and kept hanging up prematurely. Also it looks dirty and the room I was staying at has holes in the curtain. Just get that, the shower handle fixed cus it would turn off when I tried to have cold water, like it was screwed on right, and I also wished I could have seen the rooftop. The free snacks were awesome tho.
- 3/5
Only complaint was that the rooftop is closed until 7/31. I wish I would’ve known before booking… that was a big reason for booking. Otherwise average hotel not bad. Great location to the subway - F train will take you uptown to Times Square & Central Park
- 5/5
Love the rooftop and the common area. The room was spacious and the A/C was working well in the heat wave
- 1/5
I could not stay here! It was pretty clear there was blood on the walls which you can see in the pictures! The room looked nothing like the pictures, the room was absolutely disgusting!
- 2/5
Only used it to sleep for 2hrs and store my luggage.....served its purpose
- 2/5
The property is clean, easy to locate, easy to access, and priced fairly. The mattress was like sleeping on a concrete slab. The frosted glass wall between the bed area and the bathroom was super weird. You could barely move around the bed. And the other customers felt that yelling in the hallway at midnight, 2:30am, and 6:15am was a great way to let the whole floor know what was happening. Between the mattress, lack of blackout curtains, and the inconsiderate people on the floor I had the 2 horrible nights.

- 5/5
Third stay at the Ridge-very clean and quiet place on Houston, very European in check in and bare bones amenities, but great in that way as well. Fantastic location across from F line and walkable to Lower East Side hotspots. The rooftop deck is the jewel!
- 5/5
It was a small quiet hotel. The rooftop was cool and you could see the Empire State Building. It was walking distance from a lot of shops, bars, and restaurants. There’s a train station right on the corner. Absolutely will be staying here when I visit NYC from now on

Had to request a new sheet. Noisy until wee hours, bed rickety w/ sharp edges, toilet cover loose, flooring in bad shape, hair dryer off wall, shampoo dispenser in shower was taped to the wall - disaster overall.

A cozy little hotel. The location was perfect for me — just a one-minute walk to the Bhakti Center. The room was small but had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable, everything was clean, and there were pillows to suit every preference. The bathroom was a bit old and not very convenient — that’s the only downside. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This hotel is a great price for a place in Manhattan with your own bathroom. Very close to a subway station, relatively quiet for being on busy street. The rooftop is a nice place to enjoy a coffee, bagel or anything else you take out from the endless choices of nearby restaurants.

It was a great location for us, we enjoyed the hotel & it has a great rooftop with nice views of the city!

Excellent location! A little noisy, but worth it for how convenient it was to things.

We'll be back next time.

However, there were some cons I need to point out. The first and biggest one was, I was placed on the first floor (104). Don't know what I did to deserve that punishment. The only saving grace was that room is not facing the main street (E Houston St) so it was somewhat quieter, but it was still a slight security concern. Secondly, my room was not a twin bed room that I booked, but a three's company which I did not like and had to sleep on the top bunk. Finally, I was not provided face cloths for shower use. I would only recommend if you can one avoid the first floor especially and two if you like the convenience of being at East Village & LES for the bars and restaurants.

location - staff cleanliness - thank you - will be back

It was perfect for the night, an eight minute walk to our destination, plenty of things to do in the area. This was my second time staying here.
- 3/5
The hotel just needs some love -- a bit neglected and dark and sad with really old mattresses.
- 2/5
Noisy. Blood stained sheets. Rock hard bed. Scratchy bath towels.

The Location was amazing. I expected the room to be small and it was small. When we arrived we had a big trash bag of laundry outside our door and it stayed there the whole time. I was not surprised because we didn't see anybody who worked there until the next morning. Our room was half cleaned thank god clean sheets, but the floor was sticky and dirty plus a random dirty sock was under the bed. The only mirror was in the small bathroom no full mirror. We had a clean fridge coffee pot coffee but no coffee cups or sugar or creamer. When we were pleasantly surprised that when we got back at 3:30 am snacks had been left out at the front desk.

Small, dirty, dingy, meh

The only thing that did not meet my expectations was the bed. It was not soft or springy in any way. Kind of like lying on slightly padded cardboard. Other than that contactless check in was great, room was clean, had everything I needed. Close to subway, restaurants, etc.

I’ve stayed here many times and the rooms are small but clean and comfortable. The location is great, so convenient to the East Village, LES, Chinatown, even SoHo and Little Italy if you like to walk. Or the F train is on the corner. Not fancy but has everything you need. Self check-in is easy.
- 2/5
This is a contactless check-in hotel so there really is no service. That includes maid service, which is fine by me. I believe there was a bit of false advertisement, and hotels.com is partly responsible. The room pictures were NOTHING like our room. Really was JUST a bed. No desk, useable closet, or chair. You could barely walk without hitting your head on the tv or stubbing your toe on the bed. Nowhere to put luggage except under the bed, which was terribly dusty. We should have had a lower rate than what was advertised. Bathroom is VERY small, not for big people. ONLY good thing is the location, which is excellent.

Limited service - auto check in! It was within walking distance to the event I was at - so I booked it. Not much else to say. For the price my best option.
- 4/5
Somewhat dated inside the room. Clean.
- 4/5
Stayed here for a quick overnight in SoHo. I just needed a place to sleep and wanted a private bathroom. The place was clean, the bed was comfortable enough. I had to get the bunk room as that was all that was available. The room was pretty small but that was fine for my purpose. It was also pretty quiet all night which was nice!
- 5/5
We booked this hotel because it is close to East Village; just needed a room to sleep and shower. Very close to subway station, exactly what we needed!
- 5/5
Very easy check in and front desk was able to hold my luggage until the room was ready, which was nice. Room was clean, pretty spacious for NY and a nice clean bathroom. It had a nice vibe and I could walk everywhere around Lower East Side, SoHo and Greenwich.
- 4/5
BUT 4 stars because they have a "virtual" check in process AND they can only hold your bags from 8AM-3PM. This was not mentioned anywhere on Expedia or their website. It was a total surprise after we paid a non-refundable rate through Expedia. Things worked out, with minimum stress, but I recommend having this information right front and center.

Easy check in. Nice room. Good location.
- 3/5
The checkin ask for a picture of the credit card use on expedia to be uploaded beforehand

There was no functioning AC in our room, so it was very hot. The hotel refunded one of our two nights. Since there is no staff on premises, things like this can be problematic.
- 4/5
Overall this is a no-frills hotel. Relatively quiet. Room was OK but nothing special. Bed was about 18 inches off the ground. Bathroom was very generic.
- 3/5
Stay away from the ground floor rooms as they are at street level by the lobby and very noisy. Generally small room that work ok for one… even the double rooms, but very tight if you are two.
- 4/5
It was fine. Served its purpose.
- 5/5
The only weird thing is that they did not have wash cloths. When I inquired they gave us additional hand towels.
- 1/5
Not good better hotel down the street.

The room had a metal double bunk bed (with broken welds) with about 18 inches of room on one side. No desk, no chair but a small fridge and some shelving that looked like it was picked up off the curb somewhere. The bathroom is tiny but the shower was a good size. The shower was dirty and had some mold. The bathroom sink had a slow drain and the AC didn't work initially but saw the service person and he was able to fix both items quickly. We just had carry on luggage but there is no place to put it where it didn't get in the way. I put my knapsack on top of the shelf and it got coated in dust. I asked if we could check out early and get a refund but received no response. This is a place that maximizes profit over customer service. I recommend paying a further $100 per night to stay somewhere nicer (NYC is crazy expensive). Unfortunately, there is not much available in this area of the city which is why the hotel gets away with sub par conditions.

The website sais nothing about luggage storage so I tried calling the front desk and they didn’t answer. I Googled it and found Reddit said they did have storage, so I made plans for it. The night before my trip I got a text message from them that said no luggage storage, and a “virtual” front desk.. I remade my travel plans. When I arrived there was a man behind the front desk, paying atteto his twittering, and when I asked, he said there was luggage storage from 9:00am to 3:00pm. I told him this contradicted their message. He said, oh yeah, someone needs to fix that. The next morning the front desk was empty.

Jasmine was very helpful. Rooms are small but clean and efficient with great views. 1 block from the famous Katz deli, and a few blocks from the always fun saint marks place. Definitely check out the roof for great pictures and a cool hang out spot.

Small room but modern, comfortable bed and pillows, decent size bathroom. Subway entrance very close making for an extremely easier commute from/to JFK airport. Great location for city activities.

Friendly staff

Great location!
- 2/5
Our room was on the first floor with a tiny window facing the sidewalk. People could see straight in if it wasn’t for the curtains. I felt claustrophobic. The bed was uncomfortable and very noisy.
- 3/5
The front desk staff, when present, were very kind and helpful. I asked to not be on the first floor due to safety concerns, which was not acknowledged. There were coffee and snacks available daily. The area surrounding the hotel is very busy and loud, which we were aware of, but the hotel walls were so thin you could hear everything both inside and outside. We got almost no sleep because of this. The bed was uncomfortable, the shower was in poor condition, and out toilet had no lid to it, which made the bathroom feel gross. Our friends who were also staying in the hotel had a completely different set up (a tub, a toilet with a lid) on the second floor, so I am unclear as to why the rooms vary so drastically.
