Reviews
The Michelangelo Hotel is a well-liked establishment with a prime location in New York City, particularly for theater-goers. Guests frequently praise the hotel's staff for their kindness and professionalism. However, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the rooms, such as outdated decor and lack of complimentary tea/coffee facilities.
- Excellent location, particularly for accessing Broadway shows and other NYC attractions
- Friendly and professional staff
- Rooms can be outdated and in need of refurbishment
- Lack of complimentary tea/coffee facilities in rooms

I picked this hotel because of the location and I also wanted to stay in an older style hotel. The location was great close to chaos but yet far enough away. The hotel itself is an older property. There were signs of wear in the room with the itself. Furniture was older and very much lived in. The hallway carpet off the elevators also had wear and tear. The bathroom in my room had been caulked around the bathtub multiple times I just feel for the price, The hotel could’ve been up kept better.

First day I recieved breakfest in 1 hour and the second day 30 minutes 1st day I put the Room Cleaning Request on the door at 13:00. I cam back at 18:00 it wasn't cleaned Most of the employees, especially Front Desk and Restaurant personel were very unfriendly and snob The A/C in the room was too loud Street noise was too bad. Window sound isolation is very poor.

The location of this hotel is superb! The staff and hospitality were excellent. The lobby lounge has an Italian inspired menu and the drinks were well made. But it is a stretch to call it a restaurant. The hotel in general appears “tired” however. The photos displayed for advertisement purposes are outdated and not current. The lobby furniture and flooring is visibly worn and past their prime. The room: The bed was very comfortable! The towels provided were in good shape, too. The carpet is stained beyond the shampooing efforts and plain just worn out. The faucets which were at one time really pretty are in bad condition, loose and the granite counter, especially around the sink, is worn out. The furnishings in the room were similar to the lobby furniture showing visible wear and cushions collapsed and ill shaped - just well worn. The rating of 4 stars is a stretch to say the least. It’s time for some investment in decor and finishes.
- 1/5
The hotel facilities are outdated and poorly maintained. The sink was clogged, the shower head was leaking, and the bed sheets and pillow covers were old, yellowed, and covered with dark spots. The carpets throughout the property also had a noticeable unpleasant smell, which made the hotel feel less clean and welcoming. The biggest issue was being charged an additional fees at check-out with a total of $250. This charge was never clearly disclosed when I booked or checked in. I had already paid all taxes and fees upfront, so being surprised with this extra cost felt dishonest and misleading. These unexpected charges came out of nowhere and left me feeling taken advantage of. Another issue that should be disclosed to guests is the staircase required to access the hotel. When I arrived, the doorman opened the door, carried my luggage down the stairs, and I tipped him for his help. However, when I checked out, no one offered any assistance. The doorman stood there watching me struggle with my heavy luggage without opening the door or helping me carry it up the stairs. I was traveling with a 50-pound bag and injured myself trying to carry it. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.

Amazing staff, spacious rooms, great value. The only downside I could think of, room service comes early (for vacation) and if you leave the room after 12:00, they won’t tidy the room without asking. Truth be told, they even wrote a message, but it was strange at first.

Perfect location (short walk to Times Square and Broadway, subway stops nearby), very quiet and spacious room (loved the large bathroom and closet), friendly staff, lobby looks like a museum - we loved our stay here and would love to come back some day! Room was carpeted, furniture a bit dated, shower had some kinks, room rate a bit high (but that's Manhattan)

Everything. Excellent service.

This was our fifth stay (over the past 30 years) at this hotel - we love to stay here when in New York - it's like a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of NYC when you enter the lobby Nothing
- 5/5
We stay there a few times a year when we go to New York to see theater. We love the proximity to the theaters but also that it sits slightly above the madness of Times Square. We like the size of the rooms which are larger by manhattan standards. No real complaints. Would love a stall shower.

Very large, well planned room which was very comfortable. Great location for Broadway. Staff were lovely too! Breakfast was included but a little small.

+ I loved the antique-chic décor, which gave the place a lot of charm and personality. + The in-room minibar was the most thoughtful ever, stocked with everything from water and wine to snacks and even useful gadgets, + The location is excellent, just steps away from some of Manhattan’s most iconic sights. + The bed was fluffy and comfortable. + Plenty of towels and lovely-smelling toiletries in the bathroom. + The furniture is a little outdated, but it’s solid wood and ultimately adds character to the hotel. + I would happily return and enjoy a longer stay next time. - Our room had no view whatsoever - Outside ventilation is a bit noisy

The property is well located for business or sightseeing in midtown. The lobby is welcoming and the rooms large by NYC standards. However, I was on the 4th floor looking straight into a dark wall making the room extremely dark at all times. Also the shower would not drain properly meaning I was showering knee deep water despite reporting it to reception. An ok stay with so-so friendly staff, ok breakfast and not much else going on.

some arm chairs and a bathroom with a huge bath - great for relaxing tired muscles after walking round the city all day. The thick, fluffy bathrobes were a nice touch, as was the small ‘anti-room’ in the bathroom for doing make-up etc. The layout was excellent, with a non-carpeted section by the door so that you could remove your shoes. I was a bit concerned about noise when I first arrived as we were relatively close to Time’s Square and I’m a light sleeper, but the very thick curtains were excellent and you couldn’t hear anything. There was also no noise from any of the other guests. The bed was very, very soft on the first night, so we asked at reception if anything could be done about it, like adding a topper or something. When we got back to our room, we swear that they had replaced the whole mattress (we couldn’t see anything added on top), which was really great service. I would recommend to anyone The room had what could be described as “faded elegance”, which had lots of large wooden furniture which I loved, but some had issues – such as the nails coming through the back of the cupboard under the TV. Also, a little more attention could have been paid to cleaning. Overall excellent, but things like the tray on top of the fridge could have done will a wipe over. I am a clean freak however, and for me to be quite comfortable in the room means the overall standard was good.
- 2.5/5
Polite and friendly staff. Beautiful interior throughout — the lobby, elevators, corridors, and design elements are outstanding. Great location, close to the Central Park and other parts of the city, with lovely coffee shops nearby. The room itself was spacious and quite large. Parking is conveniently located right next to the hotel, with a discount for hotel guests — a nice added perk. Since most rooms face inward, the sound isolation is excellent — you won’t hear any city noise at all. The room had multiple visible stains on the floor, and the couch and sofa bed also had old stains that appeared to have been partially cleaned but were still noticeable. The biggest downside is the windows facing the internal courtyard — there is virtually no natural light, leaving the room in darkness around the clock with no way to air it out. The cost is high even by New York standards. Finally, breakfast was a major disappointment — slow service and poor quality for the price. I strongly recommend having breakfast at one of the many great spots outside the hotel instead.

The location for us as Theater goers was excellent. We walked everywhere! Staff are so very helpful. Our rate included breakfast which was very good and wait staff very nice. The location was convenient We had to wait until 5 pm for our room to be ready when at 1pm, I was told it would be ready at 3pm check in time. We were late for our dinner engagement as a result. When I spoke to staff they offered to refund the resident fee of $51 but never did. Also, breakfast service was so slow we left after 40 minutes without ever getting my daughter’s bagel.

I feel bad giving the hotel such a low rating because it was beautiful, extremely well located and had a great grand suite that provided enough room for me to hold my business meeting. But ... there was a horrible repetitive screeching noise in my suite that the hotel could not address. When I complained, I was told that an engineer would look at it the morning (and they comped by breakfast). But the next day absolutely nothing happened, and the next night I had to deal with the same noise. Just to be clear, the noise was 24/7, but in the living area (where we had the meeting) you could not really hear it over the A/C. Fortunately I can pretty much sleep through anything, but it became clear to me that the hotel did not attempt to fix the problem - because it could not be fixed. Don't stay in the Grand Suite, or at least not Room 521.
- 0.5/5
There is absolutely no sound insulation in the windows. Whatever is being said on the street can be heard clearly inside the room. There is constant noise from horns, traffic, and cars. The rooms are very old, and the carpets are extremely dirty. They definitely do not deserve the money they charge. The furniture in the room is broken, worn-out, and looks like 50-year-old wooden pieces. The bed sheets are dirty. The woman at the reception was not helpful at all; she practically scolded me when I asked about something. The air conditioner in the room is ancient, and when you turn it on, it sounds like a tractor. I didn’t eat anything because the hotel didn’t feel safe at all. I will never come here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful hotel!! A beautifully decorated, luxurious hotel in an excellent location in north midtown. 5-minute walk to Hamilton and Wicked’s theaters, and you have many subway stations near by. It’s close enough to Times Square by foot, but still a little distance away so you don’t hear all the noise. The room was GIGANTIC compared to hotel rooms in New York, we had plenty of space, and the bed was huge and really comfortable. The floor was a really soft and nice carpet, which was fun to step on at the end of a cold day outside. The shower and toilet were separated from the sink, which allowed the two of us to use them simultaneously. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the cost was affordable compared to other hotels of this level. The only reason we gave this hotel a 9 instead of 10 is because we got to the hotel exactly at 3pm for the check-in and got the room an hour later, which was very frustrating since we arrived at the city after a long flight at 7am. Also, there was a strand of hair in the shower when we got the room.

Spacious large room with comfortable bed and en-suite with bath and shower. Great location 5 minutes walk to Times Square and subway. Very safe area with cafe a few doors away for breakfast. They take 100 dollar per day credit card hold for extras which seemed very excessive so 400 dollars for 4 nights stay. Also you get 2 small bottles water free in room but extra bottles charged at 13 dollars which again is excessive.

We usually stay at the Millennium Premier due to the large size of their rooms and a nice work space to do my hair and makeup. It's being renovated so we had to pivot and find a new hotel. The Michelangelo definitely delivered. The rooms are very large and the bathrooms are too. I'm a bath girl so I appreciated the large sunken bathtub. My husband loved the water pressure of the shower too. The room also had a nice work space area for me to get ready (which is a must). Other things I noticed was lots of outlets to plug all of our things in. The location was great as well. We'll definitely be back!

If you are looking for a modern hotel go elsewhere. The Michelangelo brings old school charm. We could only imagine the stories over the years and the people that have stayed here. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful and welcoming. We couldn't have asked for a better location! We went to a Yankee game, Broadway play and Central Park. All were walkable! Note: Yankee subway was close which dropped us off at the stadium. Absolutely nothing!

This hotel, is clean, comfortable and quiet . The location, especially for theater goers is perfect, within a few blocks of most venues. Close to everything midtown has to offer and still far enough away to remain quiet . The staff was amazing, friendly and accommodating in every way, especially the manager Isael, he was great . The prices at the bar and in the restaurant are very reasonable for NYC . The rooms are large and well appointed although somewhat dated. My room was very nice, however very dark, being a corner room there was no natural light, which I did not like. I would be sure in the future to get a room with a view and natural light. The valet parking is very expensive so I opted for the park yourself . The garage is within the block of hotel so not to bad . Expect to pay about $46.00 per day for parking with the hotel discount. The garage personnel were also very nice and accommodating.

The hotel was in rough shape. There was a dumpster out front for trash from renovations, that was off putting. The condition was clearly dated. A once beautiful building is now pretty run down. The room was in rough shape, the carpet was stained, the entertainment center was really weathered and had fresh sticky paint. There was a loose wire sticking out of the air conditioning unit. The fridge furniture door was broken and leaning down and open. The curtains were worn. The shower curtain had tears. The shower head was busted and leaked everywhere. The faucet handles hit the wall when you turned them. The toilet paper was sand paper doubling as toilet paper. I was pretty bummed for the price. I won't stay here again. The staff was pretty good. They were obviously employees who had been there for a very long time. Some were clearly jaded and the bartenders in particular were unwelcoming. The food was pretty bad, I do not recommend at all. If you're desperate order something. Overall, barely average. Would not recommend until they address the above.

I must be abundantly clear at the outset: I continue to have the highest esteem for the hard-charging service staff. Their fine work - as I witnessed first hand - literally comes at the expense of breaking their bodies to make up for the lack of staff, poor communication by administration, and the absence of vision of the owners. I joyfully reaffirm the fabulous I Lounge breakfast crew crew: Jimmi, J.C., Juan, Sian (Srry sp). The bartenders of lunch and dinner: Shawn and Luna. My dear comrades at the door: Cesar, Teddy, Nick, & the venerable Gene. At front desk, Valther (Srry! sp) has proved to be the most honest and has been of significant assistance to me, above and beyond. The porters: Edwin, Rajeev, and Henry. Security: Smiley and Shepherd. Here is where things get dreadful, however; namely, the incompetence, negligence, and flim-flamming of the mid-level administrative class. First in line is Hamadi the Front Desk Mgr. Hamadi is the epitome of “three monkeys management” – I see no misdoing by the staff. I hear only complaints about the guests. Our stay at the Michelangelo was outstanding. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Just walking into the lobby lets you know that you are in a quality place. We never did not feel special. The room was very clean. There were some cosmetic issues in the room (loose shower plate, broken desk drawer, etc.), but nothing that impacted our stay. If you are going to NYC to see a Broadway show I 100% recommend the Michelangelo, it's location and quality is excellent.

Upon check-in, the front desk staff member was noticeably rude and dismissive, offering no assistance or warmth despite my simple requests. This set a negative tone from the start. (The manager I spoke to later was kind and apologetic, which was the only bright spot in an otherwise poor experience.) The entire property feels extremely outdated – both the common areas and the guest rooms. The decor, furnishings, and overall infrastructure appear to have received no updates in decades, giving the hotel a tired and neglected atmosphere. Several practical issues made the stay uncomfortable: • The in-room telephone was completely non-functional, so I could not reach the front desk for any assistance. • Housekeeping standards were unacceptable. I found two old, dirty socks left behind the bed, which suggests the room was not thoroughly cleaned (or even properly inspected) before my arrival. • Hot water was barely functional – it was lukewarm at best and inconsistent, making showers unpleasant.

The room was clean, but extremely shabby. Peeling paint around the doorways, peeling caulk around the tub, cracked tiles in the bathroom, very, very old carpet in the bedroom and hallways. No tea/coffee maker in the room. My view was of the office building directly next door, so no natural light in the room. The staff were very nice. The location is good if you're seeing a show on Broadway. This is not a luxury 4 star hotel as advertised.

The room was absolutely amazing; spacious, beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. The staff went above and beyond; they were genuinely friendly, attentive, and super helpful with every request, making the whole stay feel welcoming and personalized. Room service was excellent too. The only drawback was the inconsistent bar hours. It seemed the bar didn't typically open until the evening, which unfortunately coincided with when most of my events and plans were scheduled, so we weren't able to take full advantage of it or use our included credits. A bit more daytime or flexible access would have made it perfect. Overall, though, the positives far outweighed that one issue. Highly recommend this place and can't wait to return!

I really like the hotel in many ways. It is old fashioned with decor that looks like it came from the 1940s but has been kept up. Big room with a great tub and good bed. It is a bit dark as the window in my room looked out on a brick wall that was probably 6 feet away. Ask for a room with an outside window. Food service is nothing special, but at least they have it when it seems like some of the NYC hotels no longer serve. I actually will go back. It was a comfortable place to stay

Great location. You can walk to Rockefeller plaza, time square and theatre district. Staff is friendly. Room was clean and spacious but decor is dated. Great shower. Had breakfast in lounge one morning and food was ok. It cost over 55 dollars for 1 yogurt parfait and 1 continental breakfast (1 juice,1 cup of coffee and a few rolls). I would advise breakfast elsewhere. I would stay here again.

The room was great. Old world charm with marble flooring/bath area, detailed wood trim, spacious, and an amazing location for theater, Times Square, subways, restaurants! Hotel staff went above expectations, while food menu was limited, quality was great. Also elevators are there almost immediately. No waiting around. Very comfortable stay. Large comfortable room, very pleasant staff on a great location

Impeccable service from the minute you walk in to the hotel. Helped make a great stay even better. Hotel, itself, was comfortable and incredibly clean and well-appointed. The room was spacious (by NYC standards) and incredibly functional.
- 5/5
We stayed in Grand Suite. Large room. Huge bedroom. No view except for a brick wall. Large main washroom adjacent to bedroom, and another powder room in living room area. Couches in living room were not pull out couches as we assumed based on sleeping suggestion of up to four people in the suite. But hotel provided a free cot to add to living room. Checkin and checkout were a breeze. Great location close to Times Square and theatres but not noisy. Self-parking was in a lot about 150 feet away.
- 5/5
Thank you for a wonderful stay!
- 3/5
We liked they had a bellman. Room was very noisy from the street if you stay in a Grand Suite.
- 5/5
We had a great time! Check-in was fabulous and the staff were excellent! Centrally located to all activities we had planned.
- 5/5

I bit long in the tooth
- 5/5
We have stayed here many times and it is always a great experience! The staff is so friendly! The location is near quality restaurants and Broadway shows. The rooms are large and clean. We had room-service twice during this stay and the food was excellent! Overall we have not found a better value in NYC!
- 5/5
Friendly staff all very helpful.
- 5/5
Clean room, accommodating staff
- 5/5

- 5/5
Beautiful facility! Absolutely loved everything about the hotel! Great location and most importantly. Great customer service!

- 4/5
Clean room, large and quiet
- 3/5
Compared to the past, disappointing. They are not paying attention to the little touches. No soap in shower dispenser. The lobby restroom in 2nd floor had paper all the over. The gym is very small and had one mat which was in use - so had to use hardwood floor. The toilet paper dispenser in our room was more than an arm’s length away (but did not need to be) creating a toppling risk. Great location and friendly staff. Won’t be returning.
- 4/5
Other than that, the staff was all very friendly and willing to help
- 5/5
Love the old world charm and sophistication.
- 4/5
The steps into the building were a problem for a handicapped person. Your staff was very accommodating but I would have avoided the hotel if I knew about the steps in advance
- 4/5
Excluding the front desk staff the overall staff was fantastic. Front desk was a bit callous when we checked in and later needing directions. Room was clean but very dated and worn out. I am still giving 4 stars due to price location and rest of staff. The bellman are the best.
- 5/5
Our room on the outside was flawless and we were greeted with a bottle of wine and treats. The front desk staffs and the managers accommodated our every request with courtesy. Housekeeping was also excellent. They never bothered us while we were in the room and seemed to know when we were out. The midtown location is also very convenient to everything.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing
- 3/5
No one mentioned the “Residence Fee” of $45 daily at checkin so we were unaware that it included several daily bottles of water in the mini-bar or discount at the lobby bar. It is supposed to cover the gym, wifi and telephone (charge for a landline?). This is in addition to the endless line item taxes NYC charges for hotel stays. It is ridiculous to charge for a gym that no one uses. If you need to extra revenue, put it in the room rate.
- 4/5
Old and dated
- 3/5
The smell was a bit off, without a doubt a guest before us had brought cats - my allergies were activated immediately. The carpet was sloppy with stains that were definitely not treated correctly. There is no microwave or coffe pot which made eating delicious leftovers impossible. The location is great and the size of room is adequate but it’s very old, outdated and hard to adequately judge cleanliness when the room is wall to wall with NASTY carpet. If you need outlets for charging devices they are hard to find and awkward. DONT EAT from the mini bar. The $11 self packaged nuts were so stale they tasted rancid.
- 3/5
Loved the room, but the extra charges were a bit annoying. I knew about the resort fee, but there were a few others, and the staff couldn’t really explain what they were
- 5/5
The staff from start to finish were wonderful! Friendly, helpful and professional. Our room was spotless! I was impressed with how clean it was. The location was perfect. We were going to see the Rockettes and the hotel was about a 5 minute walk. I highly recommend!

- 3/5
The bathtub was clogged. Very dirty and disappointing for what i paid for. Will never stay there again

- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful. The workers were excellent. Teodora doorman was the greatest. There’s nothing bad I can say about the place. I would definitely go there again.

- 3/5
it started off well until check out. i needed to use a cart to bring down my items, but was told by front desk staff that I could not take it to the room myself that I had to call them from my room to have someone send the cart to me. i was in a hurry and no one came up to bring the cart so I had to take all of my items down myself. when i arrived to the lobby the bellman watched as i struggled with my items and front desk receptionists were rude to me. one receptionist told me he was busy and did not offer to find help and when the 2nd receptionist arrived to the desk another guest walked up to him and instead of helping guests in the order of arrival he just assisted her. very disrespectful. i was in a hurry to check out and the other guest was rude and cut in before me while the receptionist did not direct appropriately. i have stayed in this location before and have not had such poor service.
- 5/5
Great Location. Classic Clean Hotel with very kind staff.
- 3/5
Dated hotel. The room had stains on the carpet and furniture. Staff and location were nice.
- 5/5
Staff were excellent and very helpful especially the team of porters. The rooms are a bit tired but they are clean, bath has a powerful shower and comfy beds. That and the staff mean I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Did not have breakfast there, room was comfortable and staff was amazing
- 5/5
Excellent service and large rooms
- 5/5
Love this hotel. Perfect for our daughter, granddaughter weekend in NYC. Large, well appointed rooms. Staff and service were so attentive & gracious. Centrally located & within walking distance of Rockefeller Center, 5th Ave shopping, St.Patrick’s, Times Square & Theater district and yet the hotel is so calming when you walk in, it’s a welcome relief from the hustle of the city.
- 3/5
Housekeeping didn’t clean room 3 of our 5 days there when we didn't get out in the mornings. We requested service after noon, but it never happened those days. So get out of the room before 9 and you might not have this issue. No views from this property. Lots of rooms with a dark view to other interior room windows. We were lucky to get moved to outward looking windows but only because the hotel wasn't full.
- 5/5
Calm and relaxing . And steps away from the bright lights. Highly recommended for a stay in nyc
- 3/5
Lovely room and comfy bed but noise from external air con or something else kept us awake every night. We informed the desk and they were not interested.
- 1/5
They screwed up my reservation and the manager was incredibly rude
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in the perfect location. They have valet parking, which is a huge plus. There is an amazing mini bar in the room and room service is available. Room service prices were reasonable. Everyone was friendly and the doorman was amazing!
- 5/5
Perfect location. Near Broadway shows, near Times Square but far enough away so no noise at night. Large room and bathroom. Near subway station. Lots of great restaurants near.
- 5/5

Excelente location. Rooms were comfortable. Staff was friendly. Overall we would stay again
- 5/5
This is my fourth time staying at this hotel which I believe is fabulous. Great location to Broadway, fabulous restaurants and shopping. A quiet and spacious luxury suite in the middle of one of the busiest areas of NYC. I am 66 years old and frequently travel alone. Feel very safe and welcome at this hotel. Booked a junior suite and was upgraded upon arrival. The staff is very friendly and loves having repeat guests. I felt like family.
- 5/5
We have been going to NYC at least once a year for over 20 years, and have stayed at The Michelangelo for the last several years. The rooms are a good size and clean, the staff are all very accommodating, and the location is wonderful….easily walkable to the Theatres, great restaurants, and shopping. I highly recommend this great hotel!
- 3/5
We arrived early, they stored our bags and promised to text me when room was ready. We never heard from them for hours, so finally went back after check in time and they said oh yes it’s been ready…. No excuse for not following up with the text. Then I asked for a refresh of the room and towels….and left the service tag on the door. Had to follow up to request towels and to remove trash at least 3 times. This type of communication failure happened frequently. Excuses mainly included, “sorry, the person on that shift forgot to follow through!” I think they are trying to run the hotel on a limited staff maybe. The hotel smelled like a cigar bar from long ago….which to me, added a bit to its NYC charm. But, if that smell bothers you, you might want to beware. I would stay here again, but, would hope the staffing, housekeeping, etc other issues would improve.
- 5/5
Location is great and the staff are stellar. This hotel may be our new favorite in midtown.
- 5/5
The room were spacious as well as the bathroom. The whole staff was amazing. Great location
- 3/5
Rooms are huge for NYC. Hotel is dated. Also asked for a king room and they did
- 4/5

- 5/5
Very good experience. Excellent location for our trip.

Starlight diner, Juniors cafe, Central Park

My new-to-me favorite hotel is the Michelangelo in NYC’s Theatre District. Staff are so helpful and friendly, they should be UN Ambassadors instead of NYC ambassadors. Our room was quiet, with blackout curtains for the outside advertisements. The room is very clean, comfortable and perfect for our needs. The concierge gave us his contact information for when we were exploring and needed advice. One day I stopped at the lounge to get a coffee, not knowing breakfast had closed. So Staff immediately made a cappuccino. Everyone, from the doormen to concierge, were proud of working at the Michelangelo and eager for us to feel welcome.
- 3/5
Room did not have a view of any kind - disappointing. Bath needed new hair dryer
- 5/5
Good stay but had trouble accessing room to check out the last day. Tried 3 different room keys but finally had to get security to open door so we could get luggage.
- 5/5
Very nice and relaxing stay here. Will definitely stay here again! Easy walk to many great restaurants and attractions.
- 1/5
The housekeeping staff was truly excellent. That was the only highlight. The front desk was rude and disrespectful. I had to go downstairs multiple times over several days to have my key re-keyed - turns out there was something wrong with the system. The front desk staff could not have been more rude and unhelpful. The hotel itself is not four star; definitely 3 star. Overall, an unpleasant experience for a five-night stay.
- 5/5
Great location to walk to Rockefeller and Theatre District. Front desk, doorman Theadoro) and Bellhop offer exceptional customer service. Impressed!
- 4/5
Very central to entertainment, museums
- 5/5
Excellent service!

Far and away two things make the Michelangelo Hotel a stand out: 1) location! Conveniently located proximal to Times Square, Broadway, and Radio City Music Hall and great Restaurants 2) the personal service by the gentlemen who are the face of the hotel from the door men, to the front desk to room service; all smiles and grace. Kudos.

All the staff were amazing. Will definitely stay here again!

I loved it, very luxury.

I’ve stayed at 16 hotels in NYC and for the money, character, cleanliness and staff this is tops. I will stay here from now on.

I highly recommend this place staff w

Otherwise, a great hotel and staff.
- 5/5
The property is classic elegance and the rooms are good size for NYC. The only thing is that rooms are dated can use remodeling.
- 4/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Lovely hotel, spacious, quiet room, comfortable bed, excellent small restaurant. Did not like location, close to Times Square, very crowded, congested but if you're in NY for theatre, it's perfect. Expensive, but that's NY.
- 5/5
About a five minute walk to Broadway and Times Square the staff was amazingly, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was dated but in a good way.
- 5/5
Staff is amazing

Beautiful Junior Suite. Extremely quiet and comfortable. Doorman was so kind and helpful. Great location. Old world feel.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and service right in the middle of everything
- 4/5
Clean room and bathroom.
- 5/5
We asked for coffee and tea making facilities and that was no problem for them, with no charge! It should be on there website. And we had great wifi in our room.
- 4/5
Very slightly dated but really good overall.
- 5/5
Charming hotel with fine service
- 5/5
Rooms are elegantly appointed, very clean and quiet. The hotel is convenient to Times Square and public transportation. The hotel staff is most attentive and welcoming.
- 4/5
Extremely large rooms for NYC.
- 5/5
It is a quality hotel. Location is perfect convenient to everything you need, transport, eateries and close enough to attractions you may want to explore. The size and luxury feel of the room we had was excellent and very much appreciated, as space and quality accommodation in NYC is at a premium. What set this place apart from all others we stayed at on this trip was the warm welcoming staff, receiving great service with a smile and the genuine willingness to help you. Nothing was a problem at all. Special thanks to the lovely doormen Theodore and Cesar who are the people that greet you first and first impressions matter and also farewell you at the end and they do not disappoint! Also thanks to Rajiv who showed us to our room, helped with our bags, explained the room and hotel amenities thoroughly and Daniel the concierge who on checkout kindly recommended a lovely Italian place for lunch to fill in time while holding our bags for a late flight. Everyone we met thwre includinghotel reception and housekeeping were fantastic. We will definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to NYC and will be back to stay on our next visit for sure. Thank you 'The Michaelangelo Hotel'

The only 2 things to consider are that there is no phone service for some reason once you're in the room, so wifi onky, and there is absolutely no view from the room, it's actually blocked. But all other things outshine it. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, very welcoming employees and the location is walking distance from everything pretty much, close to the subway as well. Definitely recommend, would 100% stay again.
- 5/5
Staff were great! Very easy to walk to theatre, time square, restaurants etc. close to everything. Room was spacious and clean.
- 5/5
Great overall
- 5/5
Lovely hotel in a great location. Easy to shop and easy to dining and theater and also to Central Park. Concierge was excellent with great suggestions.
- 3/5
The hotel was very nice and well kept. There was with the bell boy that I found very rude though. We arrived early and left our bags in the lobby and when we arrived I went to go pick up the bags but the front desk informed me they would bring them to our rooms. It took them a while and while I was using the rest room they dropped the bags off, I was with first time travelers and they don’t know
- 5/5
Was very pleased with the service we received at the Michelangelo. Excellent customer service and great location. Will be on our list of hotels to recommend when visiting New York.
- 2/5
The hotel is very basic. It's an outdated property. I booke d premium king room and they did not even have coffee/ tea bar. We had to ask everyday for drinking water refill. There were no slippers in the room, we asked several times but the staff was very negligent and they never delivered it to us. For the money they charge, they need to upgrade the facilities.
- 5/5
Great hotel in the heart of Manhattan. Close to theatres, museums, Times Square and subway. It’s our second visit here and staff went above and beyond.
- 5/5
Great stay, big room. A little noisy from adjoining room.
- 5/5
I usually stay at a hotel very close to this one. I’ve been to New York City many times and plan on continuing visits. This will now be my hotel of choice. The room was beautiful and comfortable, and the staff were warm and friendly. It is in the same area I’m comfortable keeping as my base before I do any touring or shopping. I have told anyone who’s asked that this is now my choice hotel. Loved it!

Rooms need an update . AC didn’t work well. Blinds were broken
- 5/5
Always stay here and not changing. Great location. Large rooms. Great staff.

Now, the first night was pleasant the front staff was very nice and accommodating. The rooms were spacious, the beds were not so good, the mattresses were too soft and the pillows were also too soft. The air conditioner was also very noisy. But, when I requested a wine opener to open my bottle of wine, although there wasn't one in the room, the front desk attendant was kind enough to bring up his own wine opener to our room to allow me to open my bottle of wine. NICE! The second night, when my wife and I came back from our dinner, we noticed that we hadn't been provided with our Complementary two bottles of water. We had already put our pajamas on and were settling down for the evening. I called the Front Desk to request that they send up our two Complementary bottles of water. However, rather than being accommodating as the Front Desk Attendant was on our first night, Vanessa, The Night Manager on Duty was telling me that it was their BS policy that they could not deliver the water to our room but if we really wanted the water I would have to go down to the Front Desk and pick it up. This was not the Customer Service I am accustomed to and I explained to Vanessa that I was already in my pajamas, I didn't want to go down in my pajamas to pick up the two bottles of water. Poor!

Staff in lounge area we're rude. Didn't want to serve us tea or coffee? They even told us they were closed and couldn't be in there. There was also no place to eat. The staff at the front desk and the doormen we're polite and accommodating. The room was not up too par. There was no fan in the bathroom in our room and the bathroom smelled like pee.

Vintage, but great size rooms
- 5/5
I loved the spacious room and the bed was luxurious! I loved the “Old New York” vibe and decor. Fabulous stay!
- 5/5
wonderful stay overall
- 4/5
It was a decent older property...very good service.
- 5/5
Been here repeatedly. Sophisicated and old school with modern sensibilities.
- 5/5
Great older hotel in convenient location. Big rooms, helpful staff. Relaxing and comfortable. Room was more than twice the size of similarly priced newer hotels.
- 5/5
Awesome room. Great size. About 3 times as big as other rooms we have stayed in NYC.
- 5/5
Came into nyc to see a show! Great location - close to coffee shops delis bars and restaurants. The room was very clean , a bit old school but I think that made It even more cozy. Staff was nice and helpful. Parking was convenient and affordable.
- 3/5
The hotel has seen better days. Furnishings need a big upgrade. Bed was soft and lumpy, but the linens were crisp. Mold on the bottom of the shower curtain.
- 4/5
The bed was way too soft. Carpet felt older, curtains seemed too old and too big for the space, and the towels were not that fluffy for a 4 star, and the drip coffee was too expensive. BUT The room was clean and large, and most of the staff were superb, especially the doornan, the bellman and the morning lounge/restaurant staff. Overall, because the room cost was fair, we would stay again.
- 3/5
the room needs updating; our room faced an abandoned floor; it was very dark and the air conditioning was noisy. The carpet needs to be seriously cleaned or removed.
- 3/5
The property was lovely - we were quite disappointed that we had booked a suite with 2 bathrooms yet the second bathroom has the door bolted open as it has clearly broken so offered no privacy and could not be used. We reported the issue but nothing was done.
- 4/5
The bed was nice, but the pillows and the sofa could have been more comfortable. Location was great, very convenient.
- 5/5
Loved everything about this hotel
- 5/5
Room was perfect! Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Exceptional comfort and service.
- 5/5
Have stayed here many times and always delivers.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, spacious room/good value, easy access to Central Park, multiple subway stops nearby, easy parking, comfortable bed, good bathroom set up (sink and mirroor separate from shower/tub and toilet) good shower pressure. Would stay again if stay in midtown.

A peaceful hotel in a very busy neighbourhood with very spacious rooms - a rare find in such a central location. The main drawbacks were some minor maintenance issues like a smelly shower curtain which was changed after we pointed it out, slow and sometimes erratic WiFi, and a $45 residence fee which came with no real benefits.

Loved this place

Love this hotel. Great location. Very nice. My favorite place to stay.
- 5/5
The location is perfect. Within walking distance of broadway, wonderful restaurants and Central Park

The staff are amazing. The only flaw was the breakfast was a little expensive but for the quality of the facility, it was justified.

the hotel was very nice, but there was no dining very near by

Classic old hotel in Midtown. We surprised and please with an upgrade. The concierge was happy to offer suggestions, or make a reservation for us if we needed. The room itself showed some signs of wear, peeling paint, torn/stained carpeting, furniture that's seen better days. The room was still very clean as were the towels and linens. The wear and tear did not detract from the stay. It was about 95Degrees F when we were in NY and the AC in our room handled it like a champ. All good. Would stay again!

Good location

Spent some time looking for the right spot for a short trip - and will happily stay here again. The staff are amazing, everything was well organized, and while you can tell she’s a hotel of former glory, her elegant bones are still apparent and the updated touches in our fourth floor room were the right ones. Bed was very comfortable - firm but correct, precisely and well fitted out. They easily accomadated my ask for non feather pillows.”, and those were AMAZING. Food looked interesting, tho we didn't partake. Next trip.

It's al old hotel but the room are very wide and comfortables. The ubication is great.

This property is awesome. Beautiful clean and exceptional service. Henry was so very helpful with our cab needs and baggage. Will stay again
- 5/5
Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating and went above and beyond. We were upgraded, and not even told about it, and when we walked into our room, we were amazed! I see no reason to stay anywhere else every time we come back to New York - we are customers for life now!
- 5/5
An absolute gorgeous hotel. Very clean, amazing room, and the staff were amazing. 5th time to NYC, 1st time here, will definitely be returning. The best hotel we’ve stayed at!
- 5/5
A great location in the middle of everything. It’s an older property with larger rooms. The staff were all excellent and helpful.
- 4/5
Unbeatable location - the hotel is pretty tired, the bed was on its last legs and everything is worn, but we were so close to everything

This hotel is in a perfect location for walking to the major sites to see. From Broadway, 7th ave shopping, times square and central park. The staff treated us like royalty. The concierge was great for getting us reservations anywhere we wanted to go and his recommendations were spot on. Just a great experience.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and spacious. Great location for getting around the city. Close to subway.
