Reviews
The hotel is praised for its prime location in Times Square, offering easy access to dining, shopping, and entertainment options. The staff is consistently commended for their friendliness and helpfulness. However, there are recurring complaints about the lack of amenities in the rooms, such as coffee makers and mini-bars, and issues with hot water availability. Some guests also express dissatisfaction with the noise levels and cleanliness.

Parking for a 5 star hotel was not good, had to walk.
- 3/5
It is a great shame how this once Grand hotel has declined. The decor is extremely bland in comparison to comparable 5 star hotels. There is also inconsistency in staff attitudes. Some are proactive and customer focused. Others are completely disinterested.
- 5/5
Clean room, excellent staff, and right in Times Square!
- 5/5
Really wonderful stay. The greeting at reception was very robotic, but they are seeing thousands of people every month. Honestly couldn’t fault the hotel. Beds were so comfy, rooms were really generously sized for NYC and the location of the hotel was pretty unbeatable. We spent loads of time in West village which was just a short tube ride away. Summer is the only time to enjoy NYC in my opinion and we had the best time ever. Thank you NYC and thank you Knickerbocker

Regular guest who has seen quality of the property and the service drop significant over the past 2 years. Used to be top notch with eager to please staff, but now it’s a scramble to get good service or a decent room without a water issue, something coming apart or a door that does not lock.

Top location. Waiting time for breakfast during the weekend, can take up to 40 minutes to receive a table. During my stay, the hotel was undergoing exterior renovation work and the building was completely covered with scaffolding. As a result, the view from the room was affected, as the scaffolding obstructed part of the outside view.

Staff was great, restaurant and breakfast were wonderful I was told the room was a front view, we were looking at what I think was the dumpster area, so we kept the blinds closed. However, the room was nice.

Excellent location. Hotel modern & had lovely decor. All staff were helpful. Drinks & food were lovely, and roof top bar was worth the visit.

We enjoyed the breakfast each morning, Gania was our server and was very friendly and kind! The only real critique was there were no hangers on the wall for towels/umbrellas/wet raincoats. We stayed over the weekend where it rained every day and having a place that was not in the enclosed closet to hang our wet items would have been nice. But otherwise, I would highly recommend and stay again!

Room was spacious and comfortable. It would have been best if I was told the hotel was under renovation as there were workers making noise in my window at 8am. I changed rooms and then was able to sleep. Staff was helpful in finding a new room and gave me a late check out to compensate for the noise. Very convenient location. Was able to walk to every meeting and the hotel is centrally located in Times Square.

From the minute we arrived (almost 1:30am) they took care of us. I was so worried about the delayed flight arrival but I called and they said no worries. I believe It was Veronica..(I apologize if the name is incorrect, it was a long day) It rained while we were there and they had umbrellas in the room and by the door. The brand, Diptyque that they use for shower/restroom is AMAZING!!! Room was great. Blackout curtains and a cold ac, what more could you want. Breakfast buffet great too:) from the front door on up, everyone was right on point. This is a central location for all things New York! Thank you!!!

I can’t believe this property had bad reviews when I saw him. Yes they are doing construction to the front facing part of the building so you don’t really have much of a view, but most people don’t spend a lot of time in their hotel room in New York City. Other than that, maybe I got lucky but I had an exceptional room clean, and staff are wonderful.

Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Dinner and martinis on the roof was delicious - our waitress was amazing, but others (maître d’, and one server) weren’t as friendly or as service oriented. Facilities were very good - the rain shower was a highlight after a long day of walking, the room was dark and quiet. Great location on Times Square. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

The rooftop wasn’t in full bloom and I can’t wait to return for that! While it’s in the heart of Times Square, it’s also super convenient. Turning right puts you at Bryant Park, the Public Library, and Grand Central, turning left is Broadway and always the heart of Times Square. The subway and theatre district couldn’t be more convenient. There’s also a CVS a block away (take the side door on Broadway to shave the corner off. And don’t miss the “door to nowhere” down in the subway at Broadway/42nd! The room was amazing! Loved being on an alley since I was a little concerned about the noise level and didn’t care about the view. Super dark with the blackout shades and other than inconsiderate guests slamming doors, super quiet. Great shower/water pressure, plenty of storage/closet/shelf space and loved having a mini fridge (would have liked a Keurig so I could make coffee/tea though). The super convenient lighting with the all on/off and levels was great too, though one time while in the bathroom every light shut off, still not sure why lol. Little thrown off by the reviews (and friends who have had issues) about the vape detectors in the rooms picking up other things, but confirmed before leaving the property that there was no issue.
- 5/5
Fabulous heritage hotel with modern makeover. Perfectly located in Times Square right by near a subway stop. Slightly noisy but that’s what I’d expect given the location right in the middle of the action. From check in to leaving we were treated so well. And the rooftop bar is a great stop. Really happy and highly recommend.
- 5/5
This hotel is absolutely beautiful. Set right in the heart of Times Square it is easy to get everywhere in the city. Rooms are spacious extremely quiet and really comfortable beds. They are spotlessly clean and comfortable after a full day of sightseeing. The bars are relaxed and the staff are all so helpful and polite. The hotel also smells gorgeous! I would definitely stay here again, worth every penny.

The junior suite was perfect for our family of 4. The pull iut couch made my boys happy not to share a bed. It was quiet and the blackout shades were nice to sleep in.
- 4/5
This hotel was advertised as the only 5 star hotel in Times Square. I am definitely spoilt as it’s nowhere near 5 star. The hotel is pretty run down and in need of renovation. We stayed in a suite and it didn’t have any toiletries apart from those in the shower and some bars of soap. Also no tea making facilities. The robes were ratty and very old and there is really low lighting in the rooms which makes it very hard to pack/unpack/use the mirror etc. That being said, it was well sized and the bed was comfy.
- 5/5
NOTHING!!

Outside of property completly covered in scaffolding. Blocked any view or light out of bedroom window

Location was absolutely amazing. I have stayed in alot of nice hotels and the houseskeeping was top tier. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The aesthetic of the hotels was gorgeous. The food was delicious. The valet was complete trash, it takes an hour to two hours to get your vehicle. The hotel did compensate a night for us, but for 160 dollars that was rediculous

- 5/5
Quiet room (1020) with blackout shade and no city noise. Mini fridge in room. Plenty of floor space for 4 people to move around in both the main sleeping area and the bathroom area. Location makes it easy to get to everything in Manhattan. Would definitely stay here again. Hotel restaurant and room service prices were outrageous, but that's NYC. We ate elsewhere. Bed was a little firm for me, but that's personal preference.

The rooms are very large, clean and comfortable, however dated and in need of a refresh. The twice daily house keeping was excellent. The staff were lovely and helpful when approached. The location of the hotel is fabulous - so close to everything! Disappointingly the rooms have no tea/coffee facilities and no mini bar. Room service was of high quality and fast.

Hotel in a good spot with lots to do and with a subway station right next to the hotel the cities very accessible. For the price and the hotels rating the rooms should have a microwave and/or a kettle. Bathroom window needs a shutter to block light from Times Square as bathroom door is made of glass and the room was lit up like a Christmas tree.

The rooms were nice, the location was great. Front Desk staff fell short with hospitality. Management did try to make things right by offering me a dinner credit and drink credits. Hotel did not advertise that scaffolding was obstructing views on their website. Hotel has a lot of potential. I expected better from such a well established hotel. I’m not sure if I would stay here again. There is too much competition in the New York Times Square area that charge the same price or even less that I’ve stayed at and had great experiences.

Overall, the room was pretty shabby and beat up with lots of dents and scrapes and chipped finishes. The room was quite spacious for NYC, with high ceilings and the king bed super comfortable with a well designed large wardrobe. The bathroom was absolutely freezing at all times, and smelled of the neighbours constant pot smoking. The bellmen and lobby staff were very friendly and courteous: in contrast with the checkin staff who were both cold and unwelcoming. The food was meh, and the meals very overpriced. It was a shame that the grand history and colourful splendour of the property has been washed away with beige modernization. It’s a nice location, better than the surrounding chain hotels, but not worth the price.

The Knickerbocker exceeded my expectation, it felt more personable compared to New York’s Ritz Carlton’s customer service. For my past 4 birthday celebration I visit with my young adult daughter, and as a birthday treat to myself, we stay at various hotels. By far the BEST!!! Being treated like a Birthday Queen is an understatement! The concierge professional handled a mailing concern of mines, the welcoming receptionist gave us a delightful warm birthday welcome, the hotel provided two complimentary drinks, the room was spacious, loved the bathroom setup, as my daughter said, “The room was luxurious simplicity, the beds were comfortable, and every area of the hotel was immaculate clean. I inquired about something I liked and to my surprise they accommodated a desired that I didn’t ask for which speaks volume. For clarity, my review it’s because of what I got, it’s because of how the employees made me feel! Last but not least, the location is convenient location, I still felt a part of Times Square without actually being in the midst of it like I have been at the Marriott Marquis. Thank you Knickerbocker. See you again!

The room’s size was great for a NYC room but it wasn’t a luxury or 4star hotel. The decor of room was minimal and very basic. The employees were very nice and helpful. The valet was $165 which even for NYC was over the top. Also, the breakfast buffet was $50/pp but didn’t offer much. Pastries/scrambled eggs/sausage/bacon and other cold items. Would not stay again

The hotel itself is beautiful, and the room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. One of the highlights was the amazing view of Times Square, which made the stay feel extra special. Overall, everything exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great stay in the city.

Location is perfect and our room was very large by New York standards The doorman wasn’t in place when we arrived so that was less than welcoming. Also, when we first got to our room my daughter noticed the trash can in the bathroom hadn’t been emptied so we were a little skeptical about how clean things were

Excellent stay, always a clean place. Perfect service, the staff goes above and beyond. I alway prefer to stay here when I come to NYC. Nothing beats The Knickerbocker!

Pros: courteous and friendly staff; comfy bed; location right by Times Square and nearby two subway stations Cons: Junk Fees(!) and other sneaky charges; towels a bit worn; shower could use a bit more pressure and drains were a bit slow. Details: From the doors to the desk to the elevators and bell stand, the hotel staff are great. They’re friendly and helpful. The room was generally well appointed, with a comfortable bed. We had a Premier level room, which was good sized by NYC standards. Bathroom was well-finished with plenty of floor space. Towels were a bit worn around the edges, but ok. Just be aware this hotel forces steep “Residency Fees” of $45+taxes (so totals $53+ per night). So, plan on paying 10-25% more than the listed rate. And when I checked out and received my statement, there was a donation of $2/night added to some foundation that apparently is associated with the ownership company of the hotel. This wasn’t mentioned, which is sketchy, and should be illegal. Don’t love the scammy behavior. So, if you choose to stay here, enjoy the room and the service, and make sure you know what you’re paying!

But there is very little privacy in the bathroom design And I was charge an additional $50 tourist fee that was not included in the so-called "comprehensive hotel quoted rate. Aldo the hotel claimed on Expedia to have parking. That's a vastly misleading claim. The hotel reserved parking is six blocks away and only for a $150 surcharge. A rip-off

This is our third stay and we always come back. Staff are excellent, we arrived early around 1 and with no hesitation we were checked in even though check in is at 3pm. Our room was spotless and cleaned teice a day, housekeeping is so nice, we asked for an extra hand cream which they gave! Location is perfect. Bathroom is not soundproof (notable if not staying with family) but other than that it’s perfect !

It was ok, at first we got a much bigger room but there was a persistent rattling sound that bothered both myself and partner. They transferred us to a much smaller room which was disappointing. The room did not come standard with a coffee machine which was bizarre but you can request one which we did. They do text you, making requests for things easy, and they were kind enough to extend our check out due to a medical issue. It was pleasant and centrally located. I would stay again

The people at guest services were not that friendly when I had a simple question about my bill. They made it seem like I was bothering them by clarifying a purchase. There were also several hidden fees charged to me after we checked out. These fees should have already been included in the amount I paid up front. I did enjoy the room and the location of the hotel.

When we arrived at the hotel we were given our room key on the 8th floor when we looked out onto Time Square all we could see was scaffolding, we complained and our room was exchanged to another room on the 15th floor which had everything we wanted and was credited with $100 for the inconvenience which was great. The hotel had our email address in advance and should have warned us about this. On News Years Eve it would appear the hotel had booked out 3 of their bars and restaurants for their own functions which meant we were unable to use these and once we found out the cost it was ridiculous. Apart from attempting to celebrate outside the hotel the only option was their own cafe which was very limited on food and drink yet again why didn’t they inform us in advance as they had our email address. The four lifts that serviced the hotel we were only allowed to use 2 due to their functions, and on New Years Eve was also ridiculous. Basically a lack of communications now I don’t normally write feedback but at £3,000.00 for 5 nights I thought we should have been treated slightly better not royalty but better.

Paid for the location right next to 1 Time Square for new year countdown ball dropping. There were two ball droppings this year one of new year and another for 250 America birthday. It was 27F degrees outside. We stayed inside with one open slot of the window facing the Time Square. The crowds and the energies made the entire experience unforgettable!!!

-dirty sock and t-shirt in the room -no microwave or kurig making left overs, tea or coffee out of the question without room service -no pre warning that the building was covered in scaffolding making its primary reasons of city life and views not attainable along with an in room caution to shut the drapes due to early morning workers -first night a long and loud fire alarm -second night phone calls and engineers in the room for a leak below

Absolutely loved this hotel. This is by far our favorite hotel we have ever stayed at in Manhattan. The staff was so friendly and kind. The room was very large compared to most NYC hotel rooms. The room service staff was efficient and always left our room clean and crisp. The hotel is in a great location compared to Times Square. Everything is easily accessible by walking. Sad we didn’t have time to check out the rooftop bar or restaurant. But we will definitely be back. Thank you for making our Trip comfortable.

Service was all around fantastic! If you want to stay in Times Square this is the best location. Room was clean, staff is the best, very secure, great food options and lots of cool history in at the Knick.
- 5/5
The room was very clean, staff was nothing short of exceptional, and the location was fabulous. This hotel exceeded our expectations and we will gladly stay here again next year
- 1/5
I paid for an upgraded room with a very specific view. Upon arrival, I saw that the ENTIRE bullding was covered with a black construction tarp. As expected, this tarp and the scaffolding it was covering blocked the view i had paid for. The listing said nothing about any construction, especially something this severe. The hotel told me tontough it out, and did not even offer a discount to the rate of a regular room (without view).
- 5/5
Excellent!

I was beyond impressed with the Knickerbocker during our recent stay. In particular, I found the staff to be exceptional in every way!

- 5/5
The staff were attentive and ensured that we felt taken care of for our entire stay. The location couldn’t have been more perfect, in the heart of Times Square, a half a block away from Bryant Park. Our room was very nice, and the addition of sound proof windows and black out curtains really allowed us to enjoy the views in the daytime without any of the headache from street noise.
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel and wonderful location. Much a shame a me
- 5/5
Great location, Clean and updated rooms, friendly staff
- 5/5
I didn't know what to expect because it was super close to times square but this hotel was amazing! I would 100% stay here again and the staff was absolutely phenomenal. So many smiles and helpful hands always. They always had someone to open the door and someone to guide us up the elevators. Being so close to time square and honestly everything else was amazing! It felt like we could walk everywhere from this location and it wasn't too much. I will for sure stay here again
- 5/5
The rooms were great, clean and spacious. We stayed a block from Times Square and noise was minimal for how close we were. Staff was excellent, helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Easy subway access. The staff is very helpful and professional.
- 5/5
Room was very clean, modern and accommodating. We did not utilize the room service during our stay. Staff was friendly. Nice surprise features in the rooms. Roof top is a great place to see the city.
- 5/5
Great location. Comfortable and luscious rooms.
- 5/5
Very nice clean room. Great amenities and location.
- 5/5
Will definitely return
- 4/5
The location is unbeatable. Everything we needed was within walking distance, and the subway stations were extremely close, which made getting around the city very easy. The pricing is definitely on the expensive side, but the convenience of not needing to rent a car made it worth it. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting NYC!
- 5/5
The staff was phenomenal, the amenities was excellent, it’s right in the heart of time square, this will definitely be my go to hotel
- 5/5

- 5/5
Great location. Staff was helpful and accommodating.
- 5/5
The staff was so great and attentive. I had an issue with my credit card in the airport and they were so patient at check in while I was able to get it cleared up. The hotel is so clean. The housekeeping/turn down service was pristine.
- 5/5
Very convenient to everything.
- 3/5
When I called to report the issue, I received an apology but was ultimately brushed off to the manager, who did not answer. This left me feeling that the concern was not taken seriously. The check-in area could also use an upgrade. The setup feels inefficient, with patrons standing around waiting and very little privacy at the long, shared counter. On a positive note, the rooms themselves were beautiful and clean, the shower pressure was excellent, and the location is fantastic. The concierge and bell staff were friendly and courteous. If not for the noise issues and the lack of a sincere response when I voiced my concern, I would consider returning. Unfortunately, sleepless nights on my final day made it difficult to fully enjoy the stay.
- 5/5
The rooftop bar has a great view of Times Square and the New Year’s Eve ball as well as the Paramount Building. Really stunning. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Good location, well proportioned rooms.
- 5/5
Clean room everyday. Very friendly and helpful staff. We loved our stay.
- 5/5
Rooftop was fun
- 4/5
The room was nice, bed was perfect. Unfortunately there was some stains on the carpet floor and the blinds didn’t close properly. Also, a minor issue but the TV has no option for services such as Netflix so we were stuck watching basic tv channels or pay a frankly extortionate amount for ppv in the realms of $25 per film. Another issue with the room is the view, if you’re expecting a view of Times Square like we were you will be disappointed, all we got was a view of some offices and a concrete courtyard. The staff were lovely and made our honeymoon feel important with some chocolate strawberries and an extra drink. Location of the hotel is absolutely ideal, though its a shame the scaffolding is currently blocking us from getting a nice picture of it. Rooftop bar is really nice for a drink late at night but we would not have paid the prices if we didn’t have a drinks token. Is it 5 star? I wouldn’t have said so, the vast majority of the cost is purely for the location I think as the room/service is only really ‘okay’. Overall it was a nice stay.
- 5/5

Great hotel in an excellent location. Family of 4 sharing the junior suite which was spacious for a NY hotel. Recommend staying here

Stay was fine. Was told we would get a complimentary drink, was not honored. Room was next to elevator so it was noisy at certain times of the day. I would consider staying there again due to the location.

The hotel was in great location for the theater district. The rooms were modern and clean and the staff was very friendly.

- 5/5
Large rooms, clean, great staff!
- 4/5
Hospitality was amazing. The location right next to a main subway stop that could get us anywhere in the city was so convenient. The restaurants were fantastic. The only reason it gets four stars is because I paid for Time Square view and it was halfway obstructed due to construction happening on the building. I would’ve been fine with paying for a different room since I didn’t really get the view anyway.
- 4/5
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, excellent rooftop bar. Lovely big room (deluxe) with comfortable bed.
- 5/5
We will be staying here everytime we visit. Staff was amazing. Amazing location, and beds were comfy and rooms were very spacious. Also wonderful custom soaps and shampoo. Just very amazed at how great this hotel was.
- 5/5
Great location, especially if you’re traveling for a Broadway show! Subway train stops all around. Staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Rooms were beautiful and had tall ceilings and good HVAC. The Diptyque products felt super luxurious.
- 5/5
Great room, location and hotel!
- 1/5
This hotel claims to be five-star, but it looks and feels like a three-star at best. I paid around $800 a night for a room that had nothing except a bed — cheap furnishings and an empty refrigerator. The worst part: my money was stolen while I was out for just a couple of hours. I reported it immediately, and the staff promised to investigate, but it’s been almost a month with no follow-up. Totally unacceptable for a place charging luxury prices. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel.

Great rooftop bar
- 3/5
Had four elevators but very slow. Tv cable didn’t work had to call building engineer. No bottle opener on the roof so again had to call front desk. On a Saturday night fire alarm went off and nobody could use the elevators had to go up the stairs. The room was spacious and bathroom had double vanity. We had a view of time square but with all the scaffolding you can’t see anything. Plus is the big bus tour bus stops right in front of the hotel. The lobby is very cramped for check in. For the price of over $600 a night, I would have chosen somewhere else less central but more amenities.
- 3/5
Disappointing for a suite in a luxury hotel. No amenities in the room, dirty cotton buds left in the bin, and a disappointing view compared to how it was marketed.
- 5/5
I did not eat breakfast at the hotel.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel love it
- 5/5
I loved this property! Staff was wonderful and very helpful. Property was clean and beautiful. I would highly recommend.
- 4/5
We had booked twin bed room. When we arrived they were sold out and put us in a king room which was tight for three of us. They compensated us with $200 and moved us to twin bed room for two other nights. I want to highlight that the entire building is covered with construction bars so there is either no view on the back or blocked view if you are in the front facing rooms.
- 5/5
Windows would open slightly so we could get fresh air and a wonderful view of Times Square from room 713. Super comfortable beds, the housekeeping staff did a great job daily, room was spacious enough for our family of 4. Would totally rebook.
- 4/5
Concierge team and cleaning staff were brilliant. Couldn't ask for better. Reception staff not particularly friendly or pleasant to deal with. The hotel itself was great and in an incredible location. Despite the downsides, look forward to coming back
- 5/5
Staff was great!
- 5/5
Everything was outstanding. A wonderful hotel.
- 4/5
Very nice property, would stay again!
- 5/5
couple quibbles: plugs only on bedside table side. and TV channels very limited (not even FS1??!) w/ no app install available
- 5/5
Always love this place
- 5/5
- 4/5
Rooms are large for midtown. A nice hotel. The time it takes to wait for the elevators is very frustrating - at night time one of the elevators is reserved for the rooftop bar which make the wait time even longer.
- 5/5
Super clean!
- 5/5
This hotel was amazing as was the staff. We loved that it was right in Times Square. We will definitely stay here again when visiting NYC.
- 2/5
The good- Housekeeping was terrific. Turn down was a nice touch.
- 3/5
I did not like being provided a wheelchair accessible room when it was not requested. I did not like how my platinum American Express card $100 credit was not honored. The cocktails at the rooftop and the service at the rooftop bar was poor. Overall, a disappointing stay after having numerous great prior experiences at the hotel. I now will have to find a new “go to “ hotel in NYC in the same great vicinity.
- 5/5
Clean room, Migdalia was great and excellent location
- 5/5
Lovely! Clean beautiful SO convenient lovely stuffy and yummy room service.
- 4/5
Central location, friendly check in staff
- 5/5
This hotel is fantastic. The rooms are spacious—a real luxury in New York. The location is excellent, and even though it’s close to Times Square, it’s surprisingly quiet. Everything was spotless, the staff were wonderful, and the food was great.
- 5/5
Great staff, lovely room, nice rooftop bar
- 5/5
Lived that you were right I. The middle of Times Square but did not hear the noise of Times Square. The staff was pleasant and assisted with everything with ease.
- 5/5
Great experience! Still covered in scaffolding which blocks some of the view but room was very spacious and lots of counter space. Would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
luxury right in the heart of the theater district. rooms are huge for NYC. Staff friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Very nice experience
- 5/5
Huge room, great bar and restaurants but mostly, the staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful
- 5/5
Beautiful Property with attentive staff, right in the heart of Manhattan.
- 4/5
Good attentive staff. We found a half drunk bottle of Tequila in a closet. Might have been great for some but we're not drinkers. A/C was very loud in the room. Set it real low when we went out and turned it off when we returned an temperate was OK mostly.
- 5/5
This hotel is wonderful. Except for some signal issues with the tv, very happy with everything. Great location!

- 1/5
We had a very disappointing stay. Upon check-in, we found hair on the bed, which is completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming to be 5-star. When we raised concerns, the manager, Kevin, was dismissive and rude rather than accommodating. On top of that, basic amenities like water were not provided unless we paid an additional “residence fee,” which supposedly covers Wi-Fi, gym access, and two bottles of water daily. This policy feels unreasonable and deceptive. Overall, the experience fell far below 5-star standards, and I would not recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Great room Times Square a little tired but hotel great.
- 3/5
This hotel is located at the perfect spot if you want to be close to Times Square! The room was underwhelming with tattered accent pillows, window shades, and stained carpeting. The turn down service was very nice, but the hotel seemed pretty run down.
- 4/5
I liked that it was close within. Walking distance to everything
- 5/5
The staff, the hotel, the location all fantastic. Very close to several transport options. We will definitely chose this hotel again.
- 5/5
Such a cute boutique hotel - pleasantly surprised!
- 3/5
The rooms are tiny. Basically the bed takes up the entire room. No desk, so impossible to work. Views are equally terrible (looking at a brick wall). My window blind didn't work so the room was dark all day. The shower leaked and water got all over. Would not recommend.
- 5/5
Lovely rooms and great property. The shower could be a bit hotter though. Other than that, we had an amazing stay
- 5/5
I’ve stayed here multiple times and it never disappoints.
- 4/5
Excellent hotel with two major weaknesses: (1) virtually no lobby; (2) exceptionally bad elevators
- 5/5
Our room felt luxurious, especially the bathroom. The shower was amazing, great water pressure. The customer service was perfect. The restaurant was expensive, but the lobster bisque was delicious. The hotel is in the theater district and it was easy to walk to see Hamilton. Times Square was super close, also! I would stay here again.
- 4/5
Excellent hotel, and great central location. Only downside was that there was loud music in the mornings.
- 5/5
Close to all Broadway shows very central

Friendly staff but slow elevators. Was charged an early check in fee when we were supposed to have early check in and late check out.
- 3/5
We have stayed at the Knickerbocker several times and enjoyed the spacious rooms and cleanliness. However, this time the property was under construction. There was no prior mention of the construction during booking. It literally shook the building at times. Noise was so loud we had to leave the hotel as early in the day as possible and waited for construction to end for the day. This was Friday. Fortunately, they did not work on the weekends so the weekend stay was ok.
- 5/5
Great Location, super friendly staff!!!
- 5/5
Larger than average room size for NYC, very nice rooms, our ask for a coffee pot was promptly met. Concierge was very knowledgeable on place to eat, find a drug store, etc. I would recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Great location staff and hotel, would stay again every time in NY.
- 5/5
Employees treat you like royalty
- 1/5
what I loved: quiet and comfortable room. excellent staff. great location. what is bad: surprise $50/day fee not disclosed until AFTER checking. that is 100% deception and I’ll file complaint as a junk fee violation with FTC. Also, bathroom is not entirely private in rooms, was kinda awkward.
- 5/5
Hotel and room was very nice and quiet. My only complaint would be there is no in room coffee machine.
- 5/5
State Hill last week absolutely lovely hotel
- 2/5
Nice renovated room, but service was awful. A very pale bellman yelled “Get in line!” when I asked for a quick key reset, even though I was late for a meeting. Housekeeping ignored my privacy sign and entered the room, leaving my confidential work papers exposed. Manager Kevin was defensive, offered no apology, and dismissed my concerns. Definitely not 5-star—avoid.
- 5/5
Very friendly!

Our family had a terrific stay at The Knickerbocker. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and, yes, you are right there in Times Square in the middle of it all.

Will never stay at another place in New York. Rooms were great, rooftop bar was beautiful and had great cocktails. Great location especially if you are theatre people. Walked everywhere easily! 5+stars

The location of this hotel is fantastic. The check-in was quick and easy. The concierge staff are very helpful. Our room, a queen suite, was quite comfortable, and a good size but definitely needed some updating.

Great hotel in very central location

Bed was very nice and the food so delicious and amazing people

Paola and Hector were so helpful and accommodating. Jay, at the concierge, was ALWAYS smiling and welcoming every time we left the hotel and returned to it. It was a tad bit disappointing that the hotel was covered in scaffolding due to the renovation but the staff made up for it with their exceptional service. Would absolutely recommend this conveniently located hotel!

Wonderful! :D

If you’re thinking about staying at The Knickerbocker Hotel—don’t. I paid for a city view and instead got a room completely blocked by scaffolding, with no warning whatsoever before check-in. The room reeked of cigarette smoke covered up by some awful spray, and the vibe was anything but luxury. The front desk staff was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful—not what you expect from a supposed 5-star hotel. The only decent human being there was the bellman, who was polite and kind amidst all the chaos. We ended up leaving and checking into Tempo down the street, which actually gave us the view we paid for, a spotless room, and friendly, professional service. This place is all smoke and mirrors—save your money and your sanity.

Staff friendly and helpful. Especially Paola and Marcelo. Hotel is in nice location, clean and rooms are big.

The hotel staff were amazing and very helpful.

I am a VIP status customer. I had an extremely horrible experience with inattentive and rude staff. Filthy room which was below the category I paid for. Bad housekeeping. Have been here many times and enjoyed it tremendously. This however was a birthday trip and the accommodations and the way the hotel provided service was beyond appalling. Incredibly unhappy and disappointed by a chain I know has/can provided better service.
- 5/5
Great property near the heart of Times Square. Didn't allow any late checkout was only drawback.
- 4/5
Rooms were ok but ours was very noisy until 2 am every night. Our room was small, asked for a cot and got a baby crib instead. Ate at the steakhouse and paid $600. Our waiter was terrible and rude. We notified the manager but never heard back. Bathrooms in restaurant were dirty - it was a group of us there from various places and wanted an enjoyable evening the server ruined it for us although the food was very good. Concierge and everyone else was excellent. If I stayed there again I’d skip the steak house although the food was good the service was terrible.

Best Hotel in NYC every single thing about this experience centered around the Hotel! Accommodating, safe, comfortable, convenient!!!!!

The room itself was not great, poorly designed, and obviously not well-maintained. The location, while convenient, was chaotic. Of course, its Times Square. But the whole hotel is covered in scaffolding and the area around it is just dumpy.

Staff were excellent, on all counts. I liked the Diptyque toiletries in bathroom. Downsides… No tea/coffee making facilities, unless you asked. Even then, you could only have one or the other! One of us is a tea drinker and the other coffee. I was really surprised about this lack of basic necessity in a so-called 5star hotel. The coffee machine was awful and confusing to use! It only costs a few $’s to provide a kettle. Really poor. The bedding wasn’t good quality, and the synthetic duvet was sandwiched between two sheets. We found that totally weird. It is that much of a saving to not invest in duvet covers? The rooftop bar was a great place to sit, but the Martinis were the absolute worst we’d ever had. A hotel claiming to be the home of the Martini needs to do better. They were undrinkable. For position, I’d recommend the hotel, but for amenities it’s very poor.

Location, Location, Location!!! Best location, so convenient to everywhere

Perfect walking distance to all the theaters. Rooms were very large. Has Turndown Service. Friendly Staff. Looking forward to staying there next year.

Great place to stay in Time Square.

Excellent! Clean. Peaceful. Staff is exceptionally attentive and accommodating. Brandon was wonderful to watch out for our luggage lost by the airlines to be delivered to us at the hotel. Many thoughtful gestures made by the staff throughout our stay. We’re grateful.
- 1/5
This has been our go spot since Covid however our most recent stay was the worst experience with elevator noise right outside our room and then the staff interaction specifically with Brandon who did not upgrade or give any conciliation for the sleepless night but instead transferred us to a room in worse condition. Also, the fitness equipment hasn’t been replaced in years. Don’t let the five star rating fool you it was two star service at best.

Loved our time and the knickerbocker! We will stay again when we return.
- 5/5
The location of this hotel is also very convenient. It's a short walk away to many shops, dining, transportation and entertainment options. The hop on hop off bus, stop exactly right outside of the hotel. If we ever go back to NYC, this hotel is definitely on the top of my list!
- 5/5
When I booked my stay I chose the Knickerbocker for the location, I had no idea the incredible hospitality and accommodations we’d receive. My family and I were treated like VIP guests, something I haven’t experienced in other similarly priced hotels. The gentlemen at the door were very attentive and Diana the concierge went out of her way to help us with everything from dining reservations, subway directions, and even teaching us how to confidently cross the street. During our 6 day stay we were warmly greeted and offered help every time we stepped into the quiet lobby from the bustling street. I’m sorry I didn’t catch his name, but one of the gentleman that helped us with our luggage was so kind to listen to our very talkative little one and gave me invaluable tips for our trip to the Brooklyn Bridge. I highly recommend staying here to anyone who is visiting NYC for the first time because the staff will help you navigate the city like a local.

2 small quirks made a difference for what was classed as a 5 star hotel... 1) no coffee or tea making in room. Only avaialble to pay (over priced) or free 5-7am if you go to the lobby. Small thing but disappointing and never had from a 5 star hotel. 2) Rooms had a couple odd things e.g. nothing on walls made feel "colder"/ lighting controls a bit odd and light sensitive cupboards wouldnt close, had to jam a table against during the night All around a good hotel, quiet and comfortable just small touches needed to elevate

I like location of the hotel. Beds were comfortable. But carpet and sofa by the window was dirty and old. Bathroom could be cleaner. (Clorox smells was so bad).

This hotel was wonderful, comfortable, clean and with great location. Very close to time square.

Wonderfull hotel with amazing staff

Very very clean, friendly staff clise to everything

Spacious room, nice features like central lighting console, very safety conscious in terms of access to the facility. Located right in the heart of NYC but in spite of location at 42nd and Broadway my room was totally quiet. Overall I really enjoyed this stay and would come back.

Great staff and lovely hotel.

This is an awesome property in Times Square with a beautiful rooftop bar.

We were in a bind on our last day, having strayed all the way to Coney Island and misestimated traffic when the time came to head to the airport. Our bellman staff was just exceptional and went the extra mile to assist us, getting a taxi to pick up our luggage, come all the way to picks us up and take us back to the airport on time. Exceptional team! (and the hotel was great too ;))

Not much happening in the lobby! 😕

Enjoyed the entire experience.

The room was so clean and the bed and pillows were amazing, super comfortable. The location was the best. Right on Time Square.
- 4/5
Lovely hotel with great staff in superb location for Times Square. However it was almost double the price of the Hilton next door, and as we were out most of the time and only really used the room and hotel for sleeping in, it was an expensive stay.
- 5/5
Great service and comfortable hotel rooms.
- 5/5
It was great!

If you want to be in Times Square this is the perfect location, has great restaurants and an amazing rooftop bar. As for the rooms, this hotel is not 5 * more like 4 at best. The rooms are not as shown on marketing materials but much smaller and barely a window. I felt very confined in the room and had to get a different room with more windows so I didn't feel trapped.
- 5/5
The Knickerbocker is top notch. The room was very nicely apointed. The staff is attentive. Houskeeping is very good. Stayed for 3 nights and had no complaints.
- 4/5
The location is however great, right by Times Square, so ideal for theatres and plenty of restaurants and bars, but still nice and quiet (we had an inside room which was fine). We were able to check in a little early and as we were celebrating a birthday, they did provide some treats (eased the pain of the ridiculous Resort Fee). We thought however, the price was high and it didn't really hit the 'luxury' level claimed, but it was all very clean and the staff helpful and pleasant. We didn't eat there, but the cafe on the ground floor was ok....even if it was expensive (2 coffees and a danish and a roll came to $33, but NY is very expensive). The rooftop bar was lovely, waiting staff really helpful, and blankets were provided for the evening chill. All in all, I'm not sure we'd say we got great value for money, as you don't spend much ti
- 3/5
However, there were several drawbacks that made the stay less enjoyable. The elevators were incredibly slow and unreliable — we once waited 20 minutes just to get down from the rooftop. Food and drinks were average at best, and both bars closed at 11pm, even on weekends, which was disappointing given how busy the rooftop always was. We also had an unpleasant experience with security on Saturday night when we tried to visit the 4th floor, unaware that the restaurant/bar was closed. The way we were treated was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Overall, for the price, I expected a better experience. There are definitely better options in the area — and until the elevator situation is addressed, I wouldn't return.
