Reviews
The hotel is highly praised for its central location in Manhattan, with many guests returning for multiple visits. The staff is consistently described as friendly, helpful, and professional. The rooms are small but clean and well-designed for efficiency. The rooftop bar and lounge area are popular amenities, though some guests were disappointed that it was closed during their stay. The hotel offers good value for the price, especially considering its location.

The staff was really helpful, the overall service and assistance was excellent. The room was not very spacious but it was very clean and ideal for our stay.
- 4/5
Staff were lovely from the reception to housekeeping to bar staff etc. Super friendly and helpful. The bed was also very comfortable, I didn't get any of the street noise, and the rooftop. Location is also great for exploring the City, right by the subway, walking distance to some great bars and restaurants and a safe area to walk around in at night for Manhattan. The rooftop bar is also really nice to have a coffee in in the nmorning and take in the skyline or for an evening drink before heading out. Showers were a bit outdated but really not an issue.

- 4/5
Excellent location but warning for those booking a room with a bunk bed: the bathroom has a frosted glass wall which can cause privacy concern and the metal bunk bed is noisy when either person stirs. Also the rooftop bar did not have a tv so we watched the knicks finals game from the pair of tiny tvs inside our bunks.

Clean , Ryan at the bar was exceptional , Secure ( need your room card to enter building at night and to access elevator Some staff in phone / front desk were snippy . I’m from NYC born and raised and can deal with an attitude but, it was sometimes served where it wasn’t needed ! I avoided the front desk from then on .

Great vibe. Perfect for a stay in NY. Clean, compact room. Friendly staff and centrally located. A no-frills room as expected, but perfect for sleeping and priced well. I’d stay here again.
- 4/5
Location is fantastic. The hotel has a fantastic rooftop bar. Noisy bar downstairs, so every time you come bad it's livelier that what you'd hope a reception would be. A bit noisy rooftop bar for the rooms on the floor.

POD 39 met all our expectations. They have a convenient location, small but very comfortable rooms, helpful and super friendly front desk ladies, and great coffee in the morning and drinks on the rooftop terrace. We can't wait to stay again.
- 3/5
Great location helpful staff and cool roof top bar. Negative points are algorithm pricing, wear and tear of property due to high usage and lack of thorough room cleaning. There should be set low pricing for such basic accommodations. Some of the plastic and steel room finishes appear stained even though they are clean. Maid service does basic cleaning only. I found much accumulated dust on the window shutters and thick grime on the some of the bed rails. I suggest a deep clean for each room every month or so to resolve this issue. Also, AC noise and vibration from other rooms even when turned off in my room.

The hotel holds bags without a charge. The rooftop is open in the morning for coffee It has changed quite a bit since I last stayed here. Gone is the festive lobby and cozy seating. Gone are the board games, books and ping pong table. All have been replaced with an over priced Italian restaurant and a mini bar. Gone are the tacos and cheap bar bites with a great margarita. Now it is over priced Italian appetizers. Truly disappointed The worst was a stale croissant that was so hard it could not be broken in half let alone be bitten into. Then I was told I would be refunded when I left, because a refund could not be processed. When I checked out there was no credit. I was told to come back after 2:00 pm to talk with the manager. Came back and finally I was handed cash. Truly felt like I was being jerked around, and I still wonder why the hotel would think it was okay to serve such low quality or a few days old. Like I said disappointed. The young lady at the breakfast bar was very sweet, so was the staff I interacted with throughout the hotel.
- 3/5
Rooms did not look new. Metal furniture was a bad idea. No shelving on walls which would have helped for more space. Beds uncomfortable. AC blowing right on my face all night.

Very clean and convenient. A bit small room, but I guess the name of the hotel is self-explanatory. Great place to stay if you are looking for a clean, safe, convenient, and affordable place in NYC.
- 4.5/5
Rooms are small but v cleverly done, everything you need. The roof terrace was a joy to work from for the day although WiFi a little shaky up there. Super clean, friendly staff and great location for where I needed to be. Nothing I didn’t like. It’s not cheap but definitely competitively priced compared to other places in the area. Room was perfect for me traveling alone. Would have been tight for two people but doable.
- 4.5/5
clean accessible, and I love the roof deck and the breakfast downstairs Not enough places to sit and work on the computer outside of his room, which is really small
- 5/5
Would love if there could be a mini fridge in the room. That is my only complaint.
- 3.5/5
Centrally located. Easy walking distance to the Empire State building and the waterfront close to the UN building. Very small rooms. Could have been cleaner. Noisy ventilation outside window.
- 3.5/5
excellent location. walkable to many places. staff was great. rooftop exceeded our expectations. bed sizes are ok for 5.8ft. overall, I would suggest to anyone planning to visit nyc for few days. the room was smaller then we expected. the thing we suffered most was bathroom is separated from the room with a thin, almost opaqu sliding door. I would prefer to have a better, isolated bathroom.

This hotel is a great deal for small rooms in midtown. My room was clean and quiet and I slept great with the king size bed. There was just enough room to get around and the window shutters blocked out the light well. It was also quiet and cozy. The bathroom is small. The shower is great with a granite tile floor, not fiberglass. It is also a high shower head which is good for tall people and large people who have a hard time getting underneath some hotel shower heads. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooftop is great. Highly recommended. The slightest bit of something was on the lower rack of the dresser.

Pod39 Hotel Review Pod39 is the perfect base for a New York stay. The location is unbeatable — right in Midtown, close to everything, yet tucked into a street that still feels local. The rooms are very small, but honestly so cleverly designed that nothing feels cramped. As a tall Dutch person, the bed was a bit short, but still comfortable enough after long city days. Everything was spotless, every day. And the free coffee and tea in the lobby each morning is such a thoughtful touch — it sets the tone for the day. What really makes Pod39 stand out is the staff. Everyone is friendly, but Jenae deserves a special mention: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. There’s a sense of energy and freedom behind the reception desk that makes the whole place feel alive. Highly recommended if you want efficiency, cleanliness, and a great vibe in a top location. Getting there/Location : - Flew in\out from LGA and took Q70+MTA. Took about 1h door to door. - 5min walk to Grand Central - 10 min walk to 34th Street & Ferry - Citibike station at the corner Hotel and Room: - Wifi was good - Shower was a good size and plenty of towels (body and hair) + hand towels - Bed was comfortable - Easy storage under the bed and clothes rack - Luggage storage after checkout until 11pm-ish. - The rooftop terrasse is great and the food and drinks are reasonably priced. It quiets down around 9pm. - The staff was fantastic and attentive. - Close to Trader joes and Target for snacks and late night errands. There were no mini-fridge in the double pod. *For snackers, or kids to consider If you walk everywhere, it's a calm location. It is 30min from Central Park, 1h to ANHM, 40 min to LES. If you take public transit*, the main lines are about 10ish minutes walk away, to get to Grand Central most lines require a transfer up and downstairs and big stations. *Accessibility to consider *This is were pod39 'lost' 2 points

Great stay and great location! Walkable to Grand Central Terminal to take subway or train rides to surrounding areas/states. I like how efficient the use of a small space is, and it was comfy and quiet.

Excellent location and extremely helpful staff. Cleaning crew is also really attentive and serving your room everyday is a default, which really stands out as some hotels have stopped doing that after COVID. The rooftop bar is amazing with exposed bricks and really nice view. The only complaint I had was that the air conditioner can get rather loud, but only when it’s really working to drop the temp initially.
- 5/5
We stayed in a twin room. The only issue we had was the top bunk was cold and the bottom bunk was hot. We would try to go to the rooftop and it would be closed at the most random times. I'm not talking late either. The staff was kind. For the price and for the location, I would stay here again and again though.

I design hotels and am in nyc monthly. I use HotelsTonight and your site. This trip was a little disappointing. They use a nearby gym that works solely on an App. No reception desk. Was very difficult just to go to gym. 2nd the Pod has no luggage rack. So my suitcase sat on the floor and had to lift to put on bed daily. 3rd housekeeping put on the towels on my suitcase every day! AND always forgot wash clothes. I had to call down daily!

Staff was very friendly and helpful; location was excellent for what I needed; and a very clean room with all necessities. There is a rooftop bar and an Italian style restaurant. Free coffee and tea in the morning. The room was even smaller than expected from what was pictured. It felt walk-in closet size and did not warrant the cost per night.

I stayed at Pod 39 Hotel and unfortunately my experience was disappointing, especially considering what I paid. The first night, I was placed in a terrible room that looked completely different from the one I reserved online. I was extremely tired after traveling, so I didn’t realize right away that the room style and the window setup were not what I had booked. Another major issue was the noise. Early every morning, I could hear the staff cleaning other rooms, which made it very difficult to rest and sleep properly. After speaking with the front desk, they switched my room on the second night to one with proper air circulation and a window. That was the only night I was actually able to sleep comfortably. For the amount I paid, I expected the room and overall experience to match what was advertised online. Unfortunately, it did not meet those expectations.

The location is amazing and good walking distance to attractions and to the subway, without being too noisy. Staff were lovely. There's a very organized baggage hold on the last day which was convenient The room is very small and cramped - perhaps as expected for ny - and a bit dusty. Though they cleaned everyday, it didn't quite have a clean feeling. The room was also a bit strangely designed. The closet was structured weirdly so there wasn't enough room to unpack, but also not enough room for the luggage itself. The 17th floor is on the same level as their rooftop bar / restaurant, which was very noisy, and I wasn't told about this beforehand. They also do their room service and cleaning quite early in the morning which is important to note!

The rooms are like a college dorm room. We selected the bunk beds with a bathroom inside. The walls are glass so it was kind of awkward with my 21 year old son. The shower was awful. Like being sprayed from directly above with a fire hose. Other than that, a cool concept that helped us save money. Staff was really nice. Good location near Grand Central Station.

The location is unbeatable for first-time visitors. You’ll quickly realize that walking somewhere for 20 minutes is actually a small distance in this city. And from this hotel you can walk to almost all popular attractions. Access to the subway is super easy via Grand Central Terminal which is 15 minutes away by foot. There’s free coffee in the mornings in this hotel but I never tried it. I walked to Bagel express 5 minutes or less away and their bagels and coffee were delicious. Shower worked very well. The room does feel like a pod. It’s quite small. But I expected that coming in. The view isn’t always gonna be onto the street, I got the back of the building view.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent, room had everything you really needed and great location to subway and Midtown
- 4/5
Very quiet even though there are so many closely placed rooms. Coffee in lobby was very good. Smart use of space within the small rooms. Doesn't have amenities in rooms like tissues or wash cloths, only hand and bath towels.

I was definitely skeptical due to the low price. A lil under $400 for 2 nights in a great area, close to train in NYC. But, I am now a believer. Rooms super quiet, 3 elevators (wait on elevator is an issue in NY), very clean , staff super nice. Great amenities. Will def stay again.

Make sure you get confirmation on when you arrive. They made me buy the night before because they had a “miscommunication” on their end and still needed to pay in order to check in.
- 5/5
it was great, adding breakfast would be nice and opening the roof top
- 5/5
The best part was the staff. As a breastfeeding mom, I needed somewhere to store my breast pumps and milk. Since the rooms didn't have refrigerators, the staff helped store everything in the back freezer/refrigerator. Every staff member I met was so professional and kind. I'd definitely stay here again for future solo trips!
- 5/5
Staff were very kind!
- 5/5
I had a very busy schedule in NY so all I needed was a private/safe space to shower and sleep. Worked perfectly!
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Small, as expected, but CLEAN, efficient, best water pressure in NYC, hot water, nooks and crannies for storing your stuff and suitcase. Even a safe! And the front desk staff are friendly, helpful and fabulous. Arthurs restaurant is attached to lobby where you can buy b'fast (or get a glass of wine to take to your room). Oh, and quiet!!!
- 5/5
The location is very convenient, with easy access to everything I needed during my stay. My room was always clean and well maintained, which made it easy to settle in and feel comfortable. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful whenever I needed anything. Overall, it was a very comfortable and reliable place to stay, and I would definitely consider returning in the future. The free walking tours were also a great touch. A great way to see NYC!

Clean, quiet, and right in the middle of NYC
- 4/5
This was a good cost-effective place to stay. I felt like I was staying in a dorm. We had bunkbeds in our room, which was fine since it was just my daughter and I we were very close to Bryant Park and Grand Central Station. We were in a safe area and felt OK with walking around at night.
- 5/5
Fantastic base for exploring NYC! So convenient being walking distance to Grand Central Station and lots of food options. Loved the free walking tours offered to Pod guests, and the ground floor bar was nice to have as an option on site too. The roof top was closed when I visited in Winter, which was a shame, as it has spectacular views out over the city. Room was comfortable, clean and had everything you need. Great value for money too - you can't beat Pod 39 if you're staying in Manhattan on a budget and plan to spend your days sightseeing.

Great location! Friendly staff and I loved the room, it was perfect!

Property was off the beaten path in just the right location. Lots of walking but far enough away from the noise.

Excellent, attentive staff.

Good location to discover eating places
- 4/5
Basically, you get what you pay for! For this price in this location, I think it’s the best that you can get. Just know that the room is very small, no real amenities other than basic necessities, and small windows. But if you just need a safe and private place to crash while still being in a central area, then this is a great option!

Pod 39 is great, simple and basic accommodations for a very reasonable price (although I am not a fan of dynamic pricing; you pay a different amount every night). The location is ideal: three blocks south to the Morgan Library; three blocks north to Grand Central Terminal. The rooms are very small, but the place is reasonably quiet and very clean. I wish they'd drop the pretense of the $20.00 per night "facilities fee." There is a bar and a restaurant off the lobby, but otherwise no "facilities." Be sure to check out the Caffe Venice around the corner for great sandwiches. I would definitely stay at Pod 39 again, and I recommend it without hesitation.

We arrived 5 hours before check in, ready to leave our bags and come back, but the staff offered us early check in, and even upgraded our room just because (im assuming after they saw we were a young couple)! Staff was lovely, you get the space you pay for, small but it works! Coffee in the mornings is a bonus. Super conveniently located to grand central. Will definitely consider coming back.

Early in the morning, a cleaning staff member opened the door and entered while I was still inside the room, which was very uncomfortable and unacceptable. After staying up late exploring New York, I was unable to sleep afterward because of the disturbance. Overall, this was a terrible experience and definitely not worth the price.

The room was a perfect size and at the right cost. The room was also clean. My biggest complaint was the "fake" complimentary gym. They promote their partnership with puregym...but the app never worked and therefore I wasn't able to work out during my stay.

In the first room I was assigned (305) the air vents were INSANELY loud. It made me wonder if it's called Pod not b/c of the small space but b/c it sounded like I was in a pod of a rocket ship during launch. But then they moved me and the new room was quiet and dark and perfect. Great (strong!) martini at the attached restaurant bar, too.

Room cleaned daily, staff always pleasant. My only issue is the forced resort fee. It’s not a resort…..

Rooms were super clean. Bed was comfy. The overall aesthetic was cool—the lounge had a great vibe and excellent music. Free coffee was good. Great location and friendly staff. My only critique is that I wish the bathroom had a fan. Otherwise, the experience was superb. I’ll definitely stay at a Pod hotel again!

- 3/5
Our room was extremely small and we were kindly offered a different, larger room, which we appreciated very much and were much more comfortable. The staff is great, friendly and efficient. The room was cleaned everyday, towels changed, and the cleaning ladies are outstanding. Unfortunately, the breakfast is not good, it is poor and there are not healthy options. The hotel is small, quiet and clean in general, very well located, walking distance from everything; the rooms are pretty renovated, good bathrooms, excellent sheet quality. A good alternative if you don't want to spend much in a hotel in Manhattan, want to be away from the crowds but near every attraction at the same time.
- 4/5
Hotel nice a modern.
- 5/5
Clean room, customer service was out of this world-constantly stayed in contact via text before, during, and after stay. Staff was pleasant any time we were coming/going, the bar and restaurant were EXCELLENT. Drinks and food were great. Perfect location that was quiet enough at night to get rest, but quickly get to all the major hot spots in NYC! Also, close to the airport. Loved our stay!
- 5/5
All good

Good place to stay in Manhattan!
- 5/5
I loved the room size and the cleanliness. I was very comfortable. I also appreciated the bar/lounge area downstairs. It was my birthday weekend and the staff wrote me a card and gave me two free drink tickets. I’ll be back very soon! Thank you all.
- 5/5
Amazing service, great quality
- 4/5
Great location! Walkable and safe neighborhood with plenty of dining options nearby. Easy access on foot to public transportation, shopping, the library, midtown Manhattan, and it's only a moderate distance (less than 2 miles) to walk to the theatre district. That's why we chose this hotel. Our room was very small, but we knew it would be. Everything about the property was as advertised and expected. The location is its primary appeal, but that makes every penny worth it.

Spotless rooms, amazing location

They put me in an unacceptable room next to noisy machinery that droned on all night. Refused to refund for the room. I checked out 2 days early despite their refusal to give me a refund for paying in advance.

I had a great time staying .
- 5/5
Room was very clean and smartly furnished. It is a tight space, but the vaulted was great and just what we needed for a day in the city. We would stay again!

Room was fine, but walls are very thin, very noisy and difficult to sleep.

staff, comfortable

We were not there long. Did not eat or go to the bar but room was clean and quiet. We enjoyed our night there.
- 5/5
Such a cute little room!! Very efficient use of space. Full size bunk twin beds with private bath and quiet. Very clean, excellent staff, free morning coffee in the resto/ bar off of lobby, great location within walking distance of so many “must-see”places plus Grand Central for subway. Definitely recommend and would stay there again next time I’m in NYC.
- 4/5
All good Works for reasonable priced room
- 4/5
Staff helpful and met my needs, great little place however the breakfast area way to cold staff wearing coats
- 2/5
There was a very strong odor, likely chemical, in the room. My bed blanket smelled like urine but could also be chemical. I suspected chemical because my legs started to itch.
- 4/5
Initially, one of the front desk attendants tried to pretend he couldn't see me or didn't know I wanted something. He let me stand in front of him while he ignored me without any acknowledgment whatsoever. When a second attendant returned from helping other guest with bags, he helped me and was wonderful: friendly, helpful, efficient, and more.
- 5/5
Staff was incredibly attentive and helpful. Room was tiny but very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was spotless & everything worked. I'd stay again
- 4/5
The room was functional and actually kind of fun to experience. The staff were very courteous and accommodating. Communication via text was very proactive and thorough.

My husband and I have stayed at Pod Hotels before and always knew what to expect—small, clean rooms, friendly staff, and a great location. For the first part of our stay, Pod 39 lived up to that. Unfortunately, our trip took a stressful turn when we returned to Room 1218 after a full day out and discovered bed bugs in our bed. I recorded a video immediately, and my husband contacted the front desk. Maintenance inspected the room and confirmed additional bed bugs under the sheets. We were moved to another room (which we insisted be inspected first), and the hotel provided a full refund—though we had to handle the refund ourselves through Expedia. We were also given a $40 café voucher, which only covered coffee and pastries and did little to offset the inconvenience. Because of this incident, we had to: • Shake out all of our luggage • Send all clothing and bags for professional cleaning, which took two days • Spend two full days in New York with no clothes or coats • Purchase about $200 of replacement clothing • Have our cleaned items FedEx’d back to Michigan Given that these expenses were a direct result of the hotel’s bed bug issue, we feel we should be reimbursed for the clothing we had to purchase. Aside from this, the staff were friendly, the second room was clean, and the location is excellent. But the bed bug situation—and the lack of more substantial accommodation—significantly overshadowed what could have been a great stay.
- 5/5
the atmosphere was great. the breakfast options were ok. nothing cooked, warmed up sandwiches
- 3/5
Room was clean but very small. No nightstand on one side of the bed. Mattress was soft and not comfortable. Hotel location is excellent, a quiet street near Grand Central Station.
- 3/5
The advertisement says they have a terrace, but when you arrive they say it's not available. The breakfast they sell is poor quality and expensive, and the shower makes a lot of noise when you use it.

This was the best hotel we could’ve picked to stay on our vacation to New York City. The staff was unbelievable, so kind and so helpful. The rooms were always clean. It was so easy to check in and check out. It will be our go to hotel for when we go to New York. The price was really wonderful..
- 4/5
I’d stay again. It was what you’d expect for a solid place to crash without the frills.

The room is small but perfectly adequate. My room had a nice view from the two windows. There was a blinking light from a smoke detector above the bed which was disturbing.

POD 39 was awesome. Very convenient! Very clean the staff was amazing. Made it real simple to check in and check out! Housekeeping was always on point! They made sure our trash was always thrown, towels were always good & that was always made! POD 39 always made sure that we were having a great day by constantly updating us with the text messages! They also gave us information on how we could take a walking tour! There was a bar in the hotel, which was pretty nice! There was also an Italian restaurant as soon as you walked in! Lobby was nice and comfy! I also really enjoyed that you could only go up and down the elevator with your room key, which made it pretty safe! I will definitely be booking again here on my next trip to New York!

- 5/5
Good price, polite staff, small room but comfy
- 5/5
great location
- 4/5
Tiny rooms, like a Japanese business hotel, but clean, well designed, nice staff, and it has everything one needs in a hotel: bed, shower, sink, hooks, closet, en suite bathroom, windows, desk, chair, nice thick towels. The “facility fee” feels like a bit of a joke at a minimalist hotel, but I suppose it covers wifi, the television, and the phone, and the gym, none of which I needed. I tested the wifi, but my Verizon unlimited 5G-UW service was faster in this location. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Kamers waren klein maar schoon en pesoneel was heel erg aardig en behulpzaam .

Location is prime ! Also clean rooms
- 2/5
We stayed in a bunk room and it’s not easy to get in and out of the upper bunk or the lower bunk. The lights were hard to figure out the bathroom door doesn’t want to stay closed. The hot water in the shower makes a horrible noise if you have the sink on. There is a window, but nothing to see.
- 5/5
Warmly greeted. Everything nice
- 4/5
This is a decent and clean Hotel is you are on a budget. The rooms are small but it’s well located and I wouldn’t stay there for too many nights though and btw the bathroom it’s right there in the room without much privacy so keep that in mind if you are staying with so someone else. This is the perfect Hotel if you are traveling alone in my opinion and on a budget. Again, not bad but it is what it is.
- 5/5
The staff were welcoming and friendly. I was able to check in super early (it changed my first day significantly - for good). The hotel is supper close to Grand Central and Bryant Park. It was a great location and a great experience.
- 5/5
Great place!
- 5/5
Originally had a full size booked, was upgraded to a queen for free. Everyday room was cleaned with bed being made and fresh towels. Was perfect for my stay and just what I needed.
- 3/5
Great staff as always, from front desk to bar, but the rooms are getting a bit worn and the price is not as competitive as it was to warrant the lack of basic amenities. Still ok for one or two nights if you're spending the day out.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Clean room!
- 3/5
The room is too small for a Queen bed, which is one of our requirements in selecting a room. The bed was less than a foot from one wall, and a TV mounted on that wall made it nearly impossible to get out on that side of the bed. Management should not have put a Queen bed in such a small room, nor should they have charged as much as they did for such a small room.
- 4/5
Convenient.
- 3/5
The facility fee $22 plus facility fee tz of $2.20 was not mentioned as Hotels website indicated that the price included all fees and taxes. When I checked in it was not mentioned either. The check in person said that I was all paid up and my credit card would only be used if I charged something to the room. Instead I was charged an additional $68.
- 5/5
Great

- 5/5
I did get upgraded to a queen room which was still fairly small. Glad I got upgraded because I don't know if I could have handled the smaller room that I booked. Overall a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars
- 4/5
Good value although rooms very small and light on amenities
- 5/5
The breakfast was passable but the staff person didn’t speak English so it was difficult to find out what was available. We didn’t realize we could have eggs so we had pastry.
- 5/5
Great hotel and great location
- 5/5
Comfortable and clean room. Staff were helpful and accommodating
- 3/5
- 5/5
Good,clean,spacious room
- 1/5
Room smaller than a walking closet, it doesn’t worth the $400 a night they charge.
- 4/5
Not bad for NYC
- 1/5
Feels like a prison and nothing like their modern building in Williamsburg
- 1/5
Contacted them many weeks in advance to see if I could move it. They told me no modifications, tough. Won't do anything for you. Screw these ppl. Also a lesson in why to not use Expedia ...
- 4/5
The hotel was very clean.
- 5/5
The only negative is just the general part of town is a bit skuzzy. Not in an unsafe way...It's just lacking in the charm/beauty of other streets in New York.
- 5/5
Great experience. Room is clean. Lobby is lively and safe.
- 5/5
Was great experience staying at Pod 39
- 5/5
Very helpful staff. Nice vibe. Quiet street, and yet very close to Grand Central Station.
- 4/5
Very nice single room, small but sufficient with enough space for everything. Generous on towels :) quiet, nice location near grand central
- 5/5
Very clean and great location. Friendly service. Room was very small but that was to be expected. I don’t think I would have enjoyed it if I was sharing the room with others since for example the bathroom is pretty close to the bed, but I think it is great for solo traveling. Appreciated the rain shower head. The hotel has a fun, hip vibe to it. I LOVED the rooftop.
- 4/5
Friendly staff and central location

Very clean room and great customer service!
- 5/5
Was very clean house keeping daily and great location
- 5/5
Great location near Grand Central. Good selection of places to get a quick bite nearby.
- 4/5
Such a small room. Maybe too small. But it’s a hotel room and serves its purpose
- 5/5
The cutest small super clean hotel. Great location also safe to walk around at night
- 5/5
It’s always been a pleasure to stay here: convenient location, walkable, near Grand Central, friendly staff and of course, a nice and clean room. I’ll come back pretty soon :-)
- 5/5
Clean rooms and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
Definitely will go back. Thank you!
- 5/5
I went to NYC with my son, this was a great place to rest our head. It is small, but perfect for just us two! Staff was friendly, it was a calm and quiet lobby and ambiance. Walking distance to Grand Central Station, 5 min walk!
- 5/5
Nice to have an affordable option and loved the walking tours they provide to guests!
- 4/5
Nosie isolation is terrible. Everything else is good!
- 5/5
Great place as base to have a good sleep and place to recharge while exploring! Really nice rooftop terrasse! And the free water refill is much appreciated to never start an adventure thirsty.
- 5/5
Excellent

The staff was exceptional

The property needs a redo. It is worn and tired. Room was great, seemed clean. Staff was Y’know hotel staff ;)
- 3/5
The room was too small to stay and not comfortable!
- 5/5
This was my third or fourth stay at Pod39. Staff is unfailingly helpful and responsive. Housekeeping is great and the location is wonderful. Yes, the rooms are small, but they're intelligently designed and laid out.
- 4/5
Basic, but nice - bunk beds for 2 like a dorm room. Great to have the free walking tours for guests.
- 5/5
The staff were welcoming and helpful with any questions I had. The rooms were clean and there was a window that you could open for some fresh air. The rooms are on the smaller side, but that’s something that comes with the affordable price and good value of the hotel. The hotel is a short walk from Grand Central and the subway, which was very convenient. I appreciated the transparency on what I was paying and would totally stay here again.
- 4/5
All good, value for money, only issue is with the hot water and water pressure. It was a challenge to set it in the right temp and could have had better shower water pressure.
- 3/5
Its an OK option. Great location. Poor design choices mean the small space doesnt work as well as it could - so the narrow shower area (fine) gets more unpleasant because a nylon shower curtain is continually blown by the air con and constantly wraps around you. Little fixes would make it better.
- 4/5
Its spartan but neat and clean with god front deck service
- 5/5
Very good condition, clean room, kind people, 5 stars from us.
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
Efficient hotel, friendly staff, great location in midtown.
- 3/5
The price is decent with good location and private space. You got what you paid for
- 4/5
Comfortable bed, excellent shower. Room was small as expected, but great for the amount we spent there. Luggage stored on check out day was helpful too.
- 5/5
Centrally located in downtown Manhattan. Very friendly staff. Extremely clean room.
- 5/5
Great staff, impressed by the convenience of everything
- 5/5
Exact location, near everything I need on my vacation, beautiful Roof Top
- 5/5
Good comfortable clean hotel with small rooms but affordable prices in a good location.
- 5/5
Funky POD boutique hotel a few blocks from Grace Central. Bed was super comfy, water pressure in shower was excellent and room was very clean. Yummy complimentary coffee every morning.
- 5/5
This is a great place when you only need sleep and shower. Comfy beds, very quiet. Perfect location, close to Grand Central station.
- 5/5
Very helpful and friendly staff. Amazing rain shower and hip rooftop bar.
- 5/5
I enjoyed the staff, location and the view. My favorite was the rooftop!! 10/10
- 5/5
Clean room, and amazin location. The staff was also very polite and helpful. Great stay overall.
- 5/5
Accommodating staff with early check in.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Great place , rooms are small but highly functional. You just need a place, this is perfect. Best for solo travelers, if you have a big family, you won't fit in one room and may need a few rooms or you may need to stay at a more "traditional" hotel. Great places to eat down the street. Shake shack right 1 block down. Win!
- 4/5
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The amenities were great to get you going including free coffee in the morning and gym day passes to the blink around the corner. The rooftop bar is beauitful and a great place to get your work done during the day because no one really utilized it. There was exterior construction during the day but that didnt disturb any of my sleeping hours.
- 4/5
Great common area. Room clean. Bed comfy. Price was right.
- 5/5
Loved my stay at Pod 39! Great location close to so many attractions and restaurants, easy in and out, fantastic customer service. Thanks so much Pod 39!
- 5/5
honestly it was simple, cute, and modern, loved it
- 5/5
Staff is wonderful
- 5/5
One of the best bijou chic hotels I've ever stayed in. Front of house house kind and courteous. Room cleaned everyday and beautifully presented each evening i returned. One comment about room 609, my room, the air conditioning was a bit noisy but hey, just switch it off
- 3/5
the rooms need to be cleaned more thoroughly. It is not clean at all, stained towels and sheets , mold in the bathroom, dust on the sideboards. The rooms are basic but that s ok if at least it was clean .
- 3/5
The staff makes up for the property being a little long in the tooth. It definitely could do with some renovation/updating.
- 5/5
Perfect experience
- 4/5
Pod 39 is conveniently located and reasonably priced. The front desck staff might be politer.
- 4/5
Very Cool!
- 4/5
Good spot, in a great area.
- 5/5
PS the shower is awesome
- 5/5
Visit was perfect. Exactly what we needed. Very convenient. Would definitely stay here again
- 5/5
The location is just fantastic. Can’t be beat. Close to grand central terminal. The rooms were clean. The service was excellent. The area felt very safe and super convenient to get around by foot, Uber or subway. The only negative is that while it is understandably a “pod” there could have been a more private partition between the bed and the bathroom rather than a half opaq-ish glass sliding door. No locks on a bathroom that has a sliding door was weird. Plus no vent fan in the bathroom makes for a not so ideal situation. Would definitely stay here again!! Good job Pod39 team!!
- 5/5
Overall, this was a wonderful stay in a great location, reasonably priced, and very friendly service. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
Front desk can be a bit rude. The restaurant wasn’t great but other than that no issues. Clean and excellent location. Fantastic rooftop bar.
- 5/5
I liked the retro vibes, the nostalgic restaurant and the rooftop bar.

Always a good spot for my business or pleasure trips.

Everyone at Pod 39 was extremely kind. The rooms were great and clean. Already planning my next trip to NYC and I’ll be staying here again.

Great location

- 3/5
Bed was okay, very small room, TINY shower, no doors for bathroom, they were sectioned off with glass and you can hear/ smell everything. Wouldn’t go there again, room smelled bad..
- 5/5
The staff is fantastic. So is the in-room safe, cable TV and proximity to Grand Central Terminal. I have come to really enjoy the predictable simplicity of staying at Pod 39. It has been my NYC property-of-choice for quite a few years. I am never disappointed.
- 3/5
Rooms are a lot smaller in person. Overall a good stay for 1-2 nights for a person who doesn’t plan on staying in their room.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed in comfort and accessibility. Stunning views on the 17th floor and the staff were extremely helpful & kind.
- 5/5
This is my go to hotel for NYC. It’s a short walk to Grand Central Terminal and convenient for many other Manhattan destinations.
- 5/5
I stayed here for a few nights when in town for an appointment. I’ll stay here again as it was exactly what I needed. My room was clean and the bathroom was spacious. Everyone who worked there that I interacted with was beyond helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
Great atmosphere and vibe and location
- 5/5
Excellent service and location
- 4/5
The annoying: For having a smaller room, it seemed there could have been more hooks on bare walls for hats bags and towels. The air conditioner sounded like cats in a cage and the room safe was broken. Other than that it was a decent stay.
- 5/5
Great location for subway, restaurants, and bars.
- 5/5
I love the atmosphere and ambiance of this place. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful throughout my visit. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
- 5/5
This hotel is consistently clean and efficient. Coffee in the morning for guests and close to transportation. Quiet and well equipped. Front desk are friendly and always willing to help. Good job guys!!!

Great hotel. Nice staff. Love the area
- 5/5
I stayed at this hotel on the days I was in NYC and my experience was incredible!! Clean, all the staff was very friendly, and on the last day I had to check out late and they did it at no cost, I appreciated it very much, thank you !! Definitely I will back!!

Stay was great but some fees were hidden
- 4/5
small room but clean
- 5/5
Great little budget hotel and perfect to be able to have bunk beds so we could each get a really good sleep. Small room but with an unexpected clear view of Empire State Building from both the room and from the en suite. Great shower and water pressure. Friendly staff. Rooms cleaned every day. Central location and really beautiful rooftop bar. We absolutely loved it. And a great price too. The interior corridors could look a bit brighter. But overall a really great place to base ourselves to see Manhattan . Nice easy going area too

Amazing! It's small but has everything you need. Restroom is a little awkward as the door is somewhat opaque / a bit see through. But everything else was perfect, and its in a such convenient location.
