I travelled solo for a 5 night stay. The hotel is right next to Penn Station and in a great location. The staff let me check in several hours early. The room was clean, good AC and I liked that the decor. It is an older building but upgrades have been made. I would stay here again.

Very old hotel, and lots of mandatory extra charges when you check in. The rooms are small, the building has not been renovated in a long time. Location is decent but lots of closures of the roads when there’s events happening at Madison square garden. They make you pay a mandatory fee of $30 per day for use of the facilities and WiFi even if you don’t use them. They try and sell you tours when you arrive in the lobby. And if you want your luggage stored after you check out, it’s $10 per bag. All of the extra charges in an already old and dingy hotel left me with a really bad experience. This hotel is not worth it after all the extra charges. You’re better off going to a better known hotel chain to avoid the extra charges, they might be a little more expensive, but with the extra fees this hotel makes you pay, the costs come out to be the same except you’re in a much nicer hotel with no extra fees. There’s also no coffee machines in the room and no breakfast included. Total rip off.
- 5/5
Perfect location for our 3 days trip with two kids 7 and 9. We were offered to upgrade to a suite upon checkin for a small fee and we did it, it was way worth it to have a living room space separate from the bedroom especially for mid day breaks from the summer heat! We were able to checkin to our room at noon which was a pleasant surprise. Would stay again and recommend to other travelers. The property is old but felt iconic and fun for the girls first trip to the big apple! Loved having tick tock diner right on site as well!
- 5/5
The New Yorker was great. Ive grown weary of NYC hotels near major tourist areas after a nightmare stay at the Manhattan Hotel, so this one was a pleasure. Everything was very clean, staff was very pleasant, and the area was nice. I will say the only comment I have is how dated the hallway carpet and room decor is. It could all definitely use an update.
- 3/5
I like that it was so close to practically everything. I didn’t like that the staff stated my room would be bigger compared to the one I was going to get…felt like it was small already. I liked that I didn’t have to leave the hotel if I wanted to get something to eat late at night although I didn’t because I was out most of the time and stuffed my dace outside but I liked that option. I wishhh I would have gotten a high floor I was on the 7th but I did get a front view so I got to see a corner of Madison Square Garden. I liked the amount of white towels we were provided. We did NOT hear any noise from outside so it was peacefull. I liked that people had to show their key in the lobby because it was a crazyy Knicks finals night. Over all I would recommend and I would stay again.

Staff was very helpful and friendly
- 4/5
Very cool to be near so many things we wanted to do. Very small room but we expected that being downtown NYC. Could have used a refrigerator and some drawers or a cabinet in the bathroom. Otherwise we are happy to have stayed there. Will stay again planning ahead knowing the short-comings.

A smelly room, a mandatory $50 fee, and no answer from the front desk when I called. Definitely not the experience I expected.
- 3/5
Air conditioner was erratic. Ester was dripping on the bathroom ceiling every morning
- 4/5
Good hotel in the city close to everything. Comfy beds. The room comes with a mini kitchenette which was a bonus!
- 4/5
thank you to the lady infront who gave us extra space :) we are autism family and space is really important to us.
- 4/5
Older building, outdated, but clean and reasonable
- 5/5
The room was smaller than expected but clean and had comfortable beds. The small bathroom could use shelf space for personal items. The easy access to restaurants was great.
- 4/5
There was one day out of a four night stay that room was not touched. No clean towels or bed made up.
- 4/5
The hotel service was amazing! We had a nightmare time getting to the city and had another room that was NOT what it was advertised to be and the staff at the New Yorker more than helped us with getting checked in early and calling to make sure we were ok. The only complaint at all was that our AC was struggling to do anything to keep up. Twice someone came up to look at it, but it didn’t change. The room was hot. Overall stay there! We will again.
- 5/5
Fast elevator. Good vending machines and very good restaurants. Located in close distance of Penn station and walking distance to midtown attractions. Welcoming and professional staff.
- 5/5
The beds were okay, but the maids are helpful and keep everything stocked.
- 3/5
The property room were very dated. We were in room 3139. Everything in the room was old. The bathroom fixtures. The cover over the radiator. Everything was very dated
- 4/5
Place needs a refresh - but old building and pretty well maintained. Staff is great. Rooms very clean. Overall if using train, good value and super location. 24 hour diner on site is a plus for night owls.
- 5/5
Location was fantastic It was a bit noisy

They give us another room too small I have a baby has stroller. They don’t change their own for me.
- 4/5
The New Yorker hotel is ideally located close to Penn station. It’s an iconic tourist hotel built many years ago, spotlessly clean with an amazing onsite diner (Tick Tock)
- 4/5
Rooms are dated and need some renovations-especially bathrooms. Old leaky faucets, no hooks or shelves. Great location-close to Penn Station subway which got us everywhere.

- 5/5
We absolutely enjoyed our stay! The staff was amazing, it was clean and organized. Will definitely be staying here again
- 3/5
Needs a reno. Pretty run down. No microwave anywhere in hotel. No fridge, no place to get water for tour room. Front desk staff was just ok. Maids were very nice and efficient. Overall, I’ll give it a 3 out of 5, except for the location: that would be a 10 out of 10!l Right by Penn Station and MSG!
- 5/5
Loved that they let you keep your suitcase there
- 3/5
But my biggest issue was when I booked the room I paid $34/day for a Continental breakfast. All it gets you was coffee, a mini glass of OJ, and a bagel. No fruit! No danish. The picture on the voucher shows fruit and danish! Very misleading and a total rip-off. That pissed me off. I told the manager and he gave me a credit for one day! I'm not staying here again. I'd rather pay more for a better experience.
- 5/5
Check-in was quick and easy, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the rooms were clean and well-maintained. The hotel also felt very safe and secure. I especially appreciated that security and staff required guests to show their key card before accessing the elevators, which was reassuring given how busy the area is. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’ll definitely be staying here again!

- 1/5
Good location in NYC, nice lobby Outdated, poor standards (damaged bathtub, cramped space, charge $5 per suitcase to store luggage if you arrive early/check out and leave luggage behind.
- 1/5
Although the hotel claims to be a 4-star property, the amenities did not meet our expectations. There was no kettle in the room, and no complimentary coffee, tea, or bottled water. The shower facilities were poor, and there was no shower gel provided. Overall, this was a disappointing experience and not the welcome we had hoped for during our family's first visit to New York City.
- 5/5
It's always a classy experience at the New Yorker but still priced effectively for NY. It's the hotel I compare others to. Will be staying again
- 4/5
It's an historic hotel, so you're not going to get the convenience of a Holiday Inn, but the building is beautiful inside and out. We loved the art deco motif. The room was big enough for a couple's getaway. Views of the city are unparalleled. Subway access and Grand Central station are close by. The restaurants on site are wonderful. We never missed having an in-room coffee maker, because the coffee from the diner on the first floor was so good. Even the bed was very comfortable. If you can deal with a tiny bathroom and wildly inconsistent water temperature, then the charms far outweigh any inconvenience.
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
The elevator banks were secured 24/7, which felt very safe. The food/drinks at the Tick Tock Diner were amazing - we ordered from them multiple times and never had a bad experience. The staff there was also beyond amazing! The room was on the smaller side, but completely worked for me and my friend. The bed and pillows were comfy enough to sleep well while we were there too. There are not ice machines on each floor, which was a tad inconvenient, but the elevators are so fast - a quick trip up 3 floors and I was back in very short minutes each time. The parking felt confusing from what we read online, but it is literally connected right behind the hotel. It doesn't belong to the hotel, but was completely secure and that staff was also very professional. We loved the location. Being right next to Madison Square Garden was our intent, but the subway is also right there along with a CVS for quick needs and there were many options for food/drinks nearby. With how amazing everything was at the hotel, I would 100% go back and stay for a NYC visit again... no matter the reason.
- 4/5
Housekeeping was excellent! The vibe is art deco vintage New York which was charming, but some things like carpeting in hallways, nightstands and bathroom fixtures need a refresh.
- 5/5
This was a great value in the heart of New York. Room was big by New York standards. Decor was updated but still kept the original art deco flavor. Bathroom was small but amenities like shampoo and lotion were high quality and water pressure was excellent! Staff was super welcoming, kind, and helpful. Would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
The Room was very clean , the staff was very welcoming at the front desk. The tic tock dinner was trash and over priced. Overall the hotel is a good choice when exploring downtown and or catching a Knicks game super convenient location
- 4/5
The location - near Penn Station and MSG, close to public transport and just a short walk away from Times Square. The hotel has a lot of history behind it - luckily we knew that Nikola Tesla lived there and we went further to explore the display downstairs and his rooms upstairs. It might be a good idea for them to promote this history in order to attract more guests. Many other notable people stayed there so perhaps this can be promoted. The staff was very nice, the maids always greeted us on the corridors and asked if we need any fresh towels or anything else. The security staff before getting onto the elevators were nice too. The size of the room in comparison to the others at the same floor. We had a diagram on the door with the floor plan and we definitely got the short stick. Also, although we opted for a room with a view, we were not given a higher floor so we ended up with a small room and some view. It is the first time when a hotel is charging guests for luggage storage, $5/piece. We were taken a bit aback as this is normally a service offered out of courtesy for the guests. Using the lobby/downstairs toilets in exchange to the passport was a new thing too.
- 4/5
Clean room, friendly staff and concierge, nice lounge area. Good for short stays.
- 4/5
Dislike: $5 fee per luggage piece stored till flight departure
- 2/5
The hotel canceled my reservation from this app and didn’t tell me. They said there might have been an issue with my credit card even though I elected to pay at the property. Even if there was an issue, I should have been informed. Instead, I received multiple emails from this hotel to upgrade my room and stay. When I arrived with my two young children we were told our reservation was canceled, then we waited for them to figure this out while they told they had no rooms. About 45 minutes later they found us a room. I still don’t know what happened.
- 3/5
Check‑in was easy and the staff was friendly. I was told I’d been upgraded to an executive‑floor room with a king bed and a city view, but the room had a queen bed and the balcony view was blocked by construction equipment. The room was clean and fine for a one‑night stay near Amtrak and MSG, but I wouldn’t have wanted to stay longer.
- 5/5
Mohammed checked us in and upgraded our room to a view of the ESB!! All staff were friendly and accommodating!! Perfect location!!!
- 5/5
Very convenient to Penn Station
- 3/5
Did not like when we were told if we accepted to pay $30 more a night we could have stayed in a renovated room. The room we stayed was barely larger than the bad we slept. Even the bathroom had more space than the room itself.
- 5/5
Hotel was clean and organized, staff was very helpful. The restaurant was really good as well.
- 3/5
The hotel and rooms are old. It's noisy outside. There were workers doing maintenance, which wasn't a great experience. Even though the guy gave us a better room, it still wasn't clean or modern enough. The New Yorker Hotel has a good reputation, and I hope they take better care of it in the future.
- 3/5
The room was much smaller than expected, but it's NYC i guess. There was no coffee stand, expect the Starbucks that closes around 1 pm in the lobby where you have to pay, No food or vending machines, except the diner close to the hotel.
- 5/5
I enjoyed how it was modern but had the charm of the past.
- 5/5
I've been staying at the New Yorker for nearly 10yrs and I love it. The staff are very helpful and has helped me with all of my needs over the years.
- 4/5
Early check in and a room upgrade— sign me up! It had a vintage charm, and a lovely staff to go along with it. Would recommend! :)
- 4/5
Hearing loud noises from pipes

And after spending $800+ dollars staying there it really ticked me off to be charged $20 to store our luggage. Not a great way to end your guest relationship. Never been charged to store luggage before.

The staff at the front desk was above and beyond!! I was very stressed and they made me feel right at home and helped me out, even with all my crazy questions! Everyone was very friendly and we were always greeted with a smile:)
- 5/5
We had 4 people 2 girls and 2 boys and having the two bathrooms and closet space was so helpful. The room was a perfect space and the location was wonderful.
- 3/5
Hotel room need attention. Bathtub to say the list needs remodeling. Big hotel with major deal for international tourist. Not a Ny experience. For the money I would say is acceptable but definitely not the best place to stay.
- 4/5
Very nice & practical room for a solo traveler
- 1/5
Awful!!! The rooms are full of mold
- 5/5
Our room had lots of space and 2 bathrooms!
- 5/5
The New Yorker has an unbeatable location, right next to Penn Station and within walking distance of Midtown attractions, which makes it very convenient for getting around the city. The building itself is iconic and has a classic New York feel, which adds character to the stay. The room was clean and comfortable, although on the smaller side, which is fairly typical for Manhattan. Beds were comfortable, and housekeeping did a good job. Staff interactions were professional and efficient. Overall, this hotel is a solid choice if location is your top priority and you want a classic NYC hotel experience. We had a wonderful time there. Elevators can be busy and slow, especially during peak hours, and this sometimes required a bit of waiting. It’s also worth noting that there is a deposit to be paid on check-in and transferred back on check-out.
- 4.5/5
Location. Size of room and lack of view.
- 3/5
Location was great. room was not renovated, there were chips out of the dresser and the drawer kept popping open. the bathroom was tiny.
- 2/5
We like it because it’s nearby places esp. tourist spots and transportation. We didn’t like because it’s not clean. They don’t clean the room that good. The smell is not fresh air. Old fashioned room. Not updated. The price wasn’t level up with the expectations of the room and facilities. Disappointing. We pay extra for upgraded room but we end up getting old style room. The tv is not working well. The toilet doesn’t clean well.

Location is central The cleaning of the room is poor. Housekeeper is not changing sheet and duvet cover without asking. On our fourth day we still had the same sheet and cover. There was big spot of dirt on the bath curtain and no efforts to change the curtain.
- 1.5/5
The first hotel on my travels that didn't even wish me a happy birthday! The room didn't look like the photo! The view from the window was terrible! You could find a much better hotel in Manhattan for these days.
- 4/5
Very good
- 3/5
Room small, which we knew beautiful views of the city we paid extra for put the bathrooms really need plumbing work… shower would go burning hot to ice cold every 10 seconds…also they charge you an extra $50 for their facility charges when you arrive
- 4/5
Centrally located. Great. Bathrooms need updating. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Staff was very professional and courteous. Accommodations were clean and tidy. The one thing that was missing would have to be a coffee/tea bar, for those early morning travelers who need a jolt to get motivated.
- 4/5
Tick Tock diner is great - lovely staff if not a little NYC attitude which can be seen as rude on initial impressions. But you get used to it. In general good hotel but 4 star rating is being generous. More like 3 star. Needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to present day expectations.
- 4/5
The hotel was very clean and staff were helpful. The space needs a bit of a refresh as the carpet and fixtures (and such) are old. Our shower head constantly dripped. I would definitely stay here again.

Location is the only saving grace to book in this hotel, as it makes quite easy to walk or stroll around some good places in NY. Room size is okay. DO NOT BOOK WITH BREAKFAST. Breakfast is just crap with 3 items everyday. (1 muffin, 1 small juice, 1 coffee), everything else must buy separately as they are not part of the breakfast. No city view as all rooms are blocked with neighbour buildings. DO NOT BOOK WITH BREAKFAST - Breakfast is just crap with 3 items everyday. Room cleanliness was good and hotel location is amazing! Bed was comfortable and I sent an envelope to be delivered there and wasn't charged for it - the hotel has a standard fee for getting mail/deliveries. I felt the room was small and unfortunately a restaurant charge was made to our room (although we never went to the hotel restaurant) and during checkout we were told we should solve it with the restaurant. We had to leave the checkout line and go to the restaurant (for the first time), talk to the manager (who checked all orders one by one in front of us until he found the order and saw it was wrong - which took a long time), gave us a paper and then back to the checkout line we went. My expectation would be that the hotel solved it with the restaurant, not us.
- 1/5
This was my first time in New York & I will not recommend this hotel as an option.
- 5/5
My husband and I have stayed many weekends in NYC and this is now my favorite hotel in Manhattan. It’s older but well-maintained with a very classic vibe, and the location is perfect – our 38th floor room had a stunning view including numerous landmarks.
- 1/5
The staff was hands down the most unfriendly and unsupportive I’ve come across in 40 years of traveling. They treated my wife and kids with utter disrespect and disregard. When asking for a manager, we received the same treatment.
- 5/5
So close to Madison square garden, Times Square and all the shopping locations.
- 5/5
Clean Rooms and friendly staff
- 4/5
The wifi was not good. The continental breakfast is not worth the money. The restaurant barely acknowledges you if you thr coupon and then either don't serve you or serve cold items. The room and hotel are nice, but small. The staff are helpful when you can find desk staff. For the cost expect more, but it is an historical hotel and that is good.
- 5/5
Everything was fine
- 5/5
I enjoyed staying at this hotel. I had no issues no problems check in was easy. The staff very friendly helpful Bill men’s helpful at night time you come through. They wanna make sure that you have your room key before going up to the rooms so I felt safe in that way. The food and the restaurant was good very friendly staff. At this hotel, there are no microwaves in the rooms so if you had food you wanted to heat up and you just have to eat it cold and they don’t have ice machines on every floor other than that I enjoy the stay.
- 1/5
The room had been renovated, but only superficially. The building’s underlying structure remained old, with very thin walls and ceilings, allowing me to clearly hear everyday conversations from the neighboring room. As a result, I was unable to sleep.
- 5/5
The hotel isn't on a cheap side, but has an excellent location near blue subway lines and penn station in midtown Manhattan. Has 2 good restaurants on property. The rooms are spacious and well-maintained. If you can afford it, it's definitely worth staying in
- 4/5
Our room unfortunately had a broken door and air con but they upgraded us straight away to a better one with a great view. Rooms are plenty big enough and we had two adults, an 18 and 12 year old. House keeping very friendly and accomodating and we felt very safe and right in the heart of the hustle and bustle without being too overwhelming! Would definitely stay here again and recommend.
- 4/5
Fantastic location. Very small beds, like child size. Definitely upgrade. Vape detectors in room as well. That’s on me I guess, but got a $500 fine… sooo as much as I paid to stay there basically! Water vapor does NOT compare to actual smoke but I get it. Rules are rules.
- 4/5
Reception and check-in was smooth and with very courteous personnel that explain and provided guide to get around the hotel. The room was a good size, well prepared, clean. Since this building is historic I'm wasn't expecting a luxurious, modern amenities or conditions in the building. I will not pay for the "breakfast" option wheb booking again since there was no buffet like in most hotel breakfasts. It was only three items: Coffe, Juice and one toast or muffin. There was not a small refrigerator and no USB-C chargers connectors in the room. At my arrival I've noticed a smell that seemed to be due to the humidity and high temperature (92F) on the day of my arrival. Overall I'm satisfied, I will return to this hotel and recommend it.

Staff was great though maintenance needs some work. Had an office chair in my room that was missing a wheel! Fell on my rear to find out. The wheel was not in the room so they should have known. Also the bathroom was really small. I mean really small. Great location near NY Penn and the subway.

Stayed 5 nights in a metro two double bed room (23rd floor ) . Just 2 persons and 4 would have been a bit of a squash and a squeeze . Room cleaned well every day . Great location opp Penn station and subway entrance 25 m away . Happy with decision to stay here after going through many options .

Rooms were dated and small. Just needed somewhere really to sleep next to penn station.

It was absolutely the perfect location and I would definitely stay there again
- 3/5
If you want to stay somewhere with a historical vibe, this could be an option for you. However the bathroom was too outdated for my liking and the sink drained extremely slowly. I also was surprised to be charged a "resort fee" of $45 a day (my fault for not scrolling to the BOTTOM of the listing and seeing it) which they say covers things like WiFi and the gym. It's 2026, just include it in the price if you're going to charge regardless of usage. Shady transparency is a big turnoff in the hospitality sector.
- 4/5
The continental breakfast is very very basic at best and you'd better get in there early or they're going to be out of almost everything pastry wise
- 5/5
Stayed here for my birthday trip to New York, it was my mom and I. We got a high room with a pretty great city view (got an upgrade paid for). Very clean, nice, has an old time charm to it. Felt a little dated but thats the point, very art deco. Within a great walking distance to many things and was very comfortable. We didnt stay a long time in the room because we were doing other things but very nice when we were in there. I used to gym and it took some tries because the door key wasn't working, the staff were helpful but they could definitely try and get some new keys that work. Overall, very great experience!
- 1/5
It was clean, but still old building (keep that in mind). Location is close to everything in Midtown. But HEAD’S UP! , we were using our Dyson hair dryer’s ( 2 people). After the first day we got a letter from the Hotel Management saying that we had smoked and a charge of five hundred dlls had already been applied to my credit card. Immediately I went to the front desk, talked with Manager explained we are no smokers and that maybe the system confused the heat and steam of the hair dryer. He didn’t even accepted my comment, he just told me go and dispute the charge with my bank (really!?) I really felt robbed. I and my friends sent several mails complaining with barely answer. Now we read more reviews and looks like this is common in this hotel. Do NOT stay here, unless you are not using a hair dryer or curling iron, otherwise be prepared to get this $500 charge.
- 5/5
The customer service was great! They were so helpful when needed.
- 4/5
Great location. Room and bathroom were outdated.
- 4/5
I don't know if other floors are remodeled, but my floor (33rd) felt very old, but maintained. The room was very clean, which is the most important thing to me.
- 4/5
Staff, location and property cleanliness is amazing. The down fall to the property would be: Very outdated bathrooms. I could hear when the next room turn on their shower. Unable to put the AC to stay on and set it to 67. It’s controlled to only go down to 70 and on auto.

Location and friendly staff Very dated and tired room and corridors. Door lock barely worked

A soap bar/more hooks in bathroom. Take the chairs out to give more room for luggage. Couldn’t watch Knick’s game cause you guys don’t have ABC. TV looked like what I had when I was a kid

The hotel is in a very central location- easy to walk to metro and only 20 min ride to Battery park where we took ferry to Statue of Liberty. It’s right next to Maddison garden square, where the Nick’s were playing. Be mindful of game schedules because it gets really busy. The location is very noisy, the room had street view- the single glass windows couldn’t stop the noise. There was construction going on till 2-3 am in the morning- good luck resting. The room was small and the “queen” beds were smaller than the double bed we have at home. I made reservation for 2 rooms one for 4 people and one for 3, but put my niece’s name for the second one. During check-in, I could only get the key for one room, not the second one. They insisted that only my niece can get it. It turned out that they put the 4 people in the smaller room with one bathroom and the 3 people in a bigger room with 2 bathrooms. There is no parking on property- just make a SpotHero parking reservation- it comes out cheeper than the hotel validation price. There is $5 fee per bag to keep them after we checked out. I made the reservation only 4 days in advance, so I didn’t have much choice- price wise it was the cheapest, but it came out about $2k for 2rooms for 2 nights - extremely expensive for what we got.

We cannot praise the staff enough, the room we exceptional every night when we returned, Lobby staff very polite & attentive. Highly recommend this hotel as a central base location Nothing was bad

Spotlessly clean. Decent WiFi, good location and very good staff. Bathroom a little dated.
- 3/5
The location was good with great access to subway stations. Felt safe with the elevators constantly monitored. Room had air con. It was very tired and run down and the pictures were definitely misleading. I don’t think it was good value for money, whilst it is New York, the hotel itself needs major upgrades. We paid for a double with a view and whilst technically we had a view it wasn’t great.

New Yorker is a charming older hotel. The room was small, but nice. I would have liked a coffee maker but otherwise it had everything I needed. Bathroom was good. Water pressure was great. Bed and pillows were amazing. From the 19th floor I could hear some street noise, but this is NYC and Madison Square Garden is across the street so I fully expected some noise. Final verdict - worth the price (which was reasonable).
- 1/5
I got in Town at 1am they cancelled my reservation and said they gave my room away so I couldn’t rebook. All hotels in the area were booked. A week later I get charged $600 for cancellation. They were the ones that cancelled it. Now it’s impossible to contact them. Total scam.
- 4/5
Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and maintained. Gym was large enough to house many. And while there were many people, you did not feel crowded or rushed. Diner on site was convenient and both food and service were good. Central location.

- 5/5
Also, my son-in-law, who happens to be black, had to present his ID the night before to come up to the room. He was clearly with us. Interestingly, my son, daughter and myself were never asked in the 3 nights I stayed. (We have white skin.) Draw your own conclusions.
- 3/5
I stay here a lot because of proximity to Penn Station and generally good prices. On this stay the prices jumped up 3x mid stay. The property itself, while having a classic grand and very buzzy/crowded lobby, has a rundown feel in the room area. The hall carpets are worn and taped, the rooms cramped and old-feeling. No room fridge or coffee maker, tiny closet and substandard plumbing that's noisy at night and with very erratic water temperature. In a neighborhood that's both mobbed with tourists and full of aggressive homeless.
- 5/5
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions.
- 5/5
If you're looking for an updated hotel, this isn't the place for you. But if you want a clean place to sleep in a good location, this IS the place for you.
- 5/5
I picked the hotel due to location with Madison Square Garden. Hotel was clean, staff very friendly and courteous. Will stay again
- 5/5
Steps away from Madison Square Garden. Very clean hotel, a bit dated but that didn’t bother us. 2 restaurants and a great diner right in the lobby downstairs, as well as a Starbucks. We would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Great location, and nice hotel for the price. Would stay again.

Staff was very helpful. Parking was easier than expected. Mohammed at the front desk was wonderful and checked in on us during our stay.
- 1.5/5
Location Rooms were very small and we need to fight for what we booked. So many other people were changing their rooms as well.

- 2.5/5
Location was pretty convenient. Cleanliness—time to time, elevator smelled of smoke. My room curtains had stains. Bath tub was old and felt roughness on the surface. And house keeping didn’t return to clean the room. Light fixture was broken.
- 1.5/5
The location was right downtown. The pictures were deceiving of what the room looked like. The pictures of what we booked were spacious and modern looking. What we got was a room that was barely large enough to walk around the bed. Practically a closet. The bathroom is the smallest I’ve ever seen, with the smallest pedestal sink, leaving not even a place to set your toothbrush down. There was no basic additions to the room that I think have become standard, especially for a room at this price. No kettle or coffee maker. No space to put luggage. Not sure if bathroom was dirty or just very old.
- 4.5/5
Brilliant as always. We’ll be back
- 3.5/5
The location is great for Madison Square Garden, Time Square, Empire State and Boat trips. We had breakfast included in our deal, but turned out to be continental only with a choice of either 'a' Danish. 'a' croissant, 'a' bagel or toast. So very limited.
- 4/5
The location of the New Yorker is exceptional for walking around midtown Manhattan, and catching the subway further afield. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly.
- 4.5/5
Location was fantastic next to Penn station and Maddison Square Gardens. Great Diner called Tick Tock. Beautiful lobby. The staff were all lovely and very professional. Original room was so small we couldn’t open our suitcase and had a view of a building. We asked for a different room and was given a bigger room and a great city view which was more like what we booked.

The lobby is very nice and the staff are welcoming. It needed more towel hooks & a larger shelf in the bathroom.

- 3.5/5
Very convenient and can walk to many places in distance. The staffs are very nice. The hotel needs to renovate.
- 2/5
Breakfast is a big disappointment. The hotel does not have its own breakfast restaurant. They have tied up with nearby restaurant and in the name of continental breakfast they offer only three things coffee or tea, Juice and either bagel or Crossiant. That too only once. This is very disappointing. Poor breakfast, rooms are old, no hot water facility for tea and coffee in the room, its chargeable if you want hot water kettle.
- 4/5
Good location for attending events in the area
- 2/5
Worst hotel room I have ever stayed in and would not stay here again. Room was extremely dated. Both bathroom and bedroom walls were marked and drab. Headboard of bed was marked/ scratched/ dirty and tv remote had brown sticky mark on the back. Nothing felt clean. Room was also very dark, and bathroom taps leaked when in use. Shower was hot but not much water came out.

The Location of this hotel is excellent, Empire state building less than 10mins walk away with subway stations right outside for those looking to explore the rest of the city. Was greeted well upon arrival and at a busy time might i add but still we were checked in within 10 mins. Lobby looks amazing as you enter with some very attentive door men on hand. The rooms are very dated as are the facilities in the room. We stayed in a queen size room, the lighting was dark most of the day. The bathrooms could do with a lot of work on updating them as with the rest of the room in general, all the décor very dated. You are paying for location mostly with this hotel.
- 1/5
Just a very old run down hotel

Room space and view Unresponsive Staff. Felt Scammed by the staff. Careful of other items that can trigger the smoke sensor like a Cpap machine with humidifier, aerosol deodorant spray, Shark hair dryer.
- 1.5/5
So old, Not clean at all
- 3/5
Location is great but the interior of the hotel is really outdated. Not as clean as I was hoping it to be
- 1/5
What really ruined the experience was how we were treated regarding their smoking policy. I asked a worker if there was any balcony or smoking area available and was told no, to just smoke outside. Cool, no problem. The next morning at 9AM security knocked on our door claiming they smelled marijuana. We told them they had the wrong room. The security guard even explained that if someone was actually smoking in a room, their desk would get notified by the smoke detector system. He made it sound like they were generally searching for who was smoking — not that our room specifically triggered anything. Then the very next day we received a letter saying we were being charged a smoking fee anyway. I even tested the so-called “smoke detector” afterward and it clearly was not functioning, which makes the whole situation feel questionable and discriminatory. Overall, definitely not worth what they charge. Location is the only real positive.
- 1/5
Scam hotel. Charged me fee for smoking in my room. Plot twist, I don’t even smoke.

No refrigerator, coffee maker, nor microwave. There’s a Starbucks, in the lobby that opens at 6:30. Did not hear neighbors. Partner said the room was small, not too bad. Nice view from 25th floor. Tic Toc restaurant is open 24 hr., good and reasonable. Some nice Art Deco elements.

The room was tiny, however, that is normal in many NYC hotels so it was not unexpected. Beds were very comfortable
- 1/5
avoid this hotel if possible. they are running a scam where they charge you for smoking in the room via a sensor system and it is impossible to remove the charge. (500 dollars!) i dont smoke and i was not the only person it happened to that morning
- 5/5
The staff was fantastic! I am visually impaired and the staff were extremely attentive, making certain I was safe and able to get a taxi when needed. I will definitely return for my next trip to NY.
- 4.5/5
Old time charm and classic style of large sprawling welcoming entrance/lobby, yet modern conveniences. Location; albeit quite busy with outside street construction, people traffic, 34th Avenue commerce and event venues…constant noise and sirens. Liked that guests are requested to show their room entry card before allowing access to accommodation floors and sanitizer was available at elevator banks (even if some did not utilize!) Staff was very courteous. The noise factor…constant police/fire truck sirens; waste management equipment. Also, I would reckon the batteries in the tv remote should be changed because I was advised the hotel is now paperless checkout; one needs to review their folio on the hotel’s site; I couldn’t…so had to go to desk for my folio which was a bit of an ordeal with the person I spoke with but did receive. Quite honestly, I absolutely prefer a paper copy of my room receipt and that option should still be available at the request of a guest asking for one. The television also continuously stalled off and the safe did work.
- 5/5
That. It was close by to msg and was good rooms
- 1/5
I woke up to find a substantial smoking fee already charged to my credit card because their “sensor” allegedly detected smoking in our room. The problem? Nobody in our family smokes. There was no investigation, no evidence, no warning, and apparently no way to dispute it before they took the money. Management was completely unhelpful and basically told me there was “nothing they could do” because they trust their newly installed detector system more than their paying guests. Meanwhile, the hotel itself feels outdated, poorly maintained, and full of things that barely work. Being accused of something we didn’t do — while traveling with a child and elderly parent — was beyond stressful and honestly felt like a scam. If you stay here, be prepared for surprise charges and zero customer service when something goes wrong. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC.

The room assigned 2425 is literally in the middle of two hallway and I heard everything. Was the same the first time that I stated in this hotel. The place is amazing but that room feels like punishment. Problems with the heating and ac, the thermostat is really hard to change and it's really loud.
- 3.5/5
I liked the fact it was within a short walking distance of the train station. I like how big and comfy the bed is. I thought the shower was nice. It had soap, clean towels, and shampoo. There was a line of people at check in. The line was a mess. It was hard to tell who was trying to check in and who was there to chat with their friends. The room I was in felt kinda cramp. It felt like the bed was taking up somewhere between 80% to 90% of space.
- 5/5

older-hotel vibe, lot of old appliances, not that clean
- 2/5
The location The room was tiny with barely enough room to walk your suitcase around the beds, and the worst part was that there was no hot water. When we finally gave up and called concierge, with too much time wasted to take our showers and be on time, we were told by front desk that 'Oh, the 8th floor has the issue, you have to let the water run for TEN MINUTES for it to get hot.'...Like that was no big deal. Like...what? TEN MINUTES??! First off, that's the hugest waste of resources. Secondly, NO ONE is going to wait around naked for TEN MINUTES hoping the water warms up. Most people give up in under 5 minutes. Because I've never heard of having to wait TEN MINUTES for a hot water heater to heat up water like that. Like you want to wash your face before bed and have to let it run ten minutes? No. that's ridiculous. On top of that, had they told us when we checked in that this was the case, we would have planned our washing accordingly. They had every opportunity to leave a 'Dear Guest' placard in the room and/or tell us at check in, but nothing. They clearly know this is an ongoing issue and when i made some suggestions about how they could improve upon communicating this ongoing issue to guests to help guest plan and set expectations to mitigate the issue, he told me 'maybe it'll get fixed in two years'.....like...WHAT!? Anyway, they should not be renting those rooms like that which really for all technical reasons don't have hot water. I'm not talking lukewarm or even 'cooler'. I'm talking ICE COLD water. Just...not acceptable for an experience as bathing/cleaning up/showering is MISSION CRITICAL after travel. People check into hotels primarily to sleep/get rest and to get cleaned up/bathe. This just was not acceptable. Oh, and FINALLY, the room looked NOTHING like the rooms in the photos on Booking.com. Not even close! Way smaller than shown and less updated.

Beautiful hotel with art deco beauty and wonderful staff. The rooms are clean and spacious. I love the central location and vibes.

Cozy Room, decent size, however room was cleaned only once <3 days stay>. I was charged for aveg. $50.00 per day for ameneties. Excuse at from desk was that I had to request it. I guess this a heads up for other travelers.
- 5/5
The hotel has a very retro feel and look which we loved. We found the standard room a little smaller than expected but it was fine as we were out all day. Just don’t expect the modern style hotel. The staff were all pleasant and friendly especially Hector the concierge who was very helpful sorting our taxi back to airport. We would definitely consider staying here again on our next visit to New York.
- 4.5/5
It's not that I did not like it (I knew about that going in) but it's an old building so the rooms are tiny and dated. I only slept in there and had a carry on suitcase but if someone is not familiar with NYC old buildings, that might be a shock. It also gets crowded: there was a huge line for check in when I was leaving (it is a huge hotel).
- 5/5
Great hospitality.
- 1/5
After I checked out, I saw a charge on my credit card that I did not expect. The hotel never called me. They never emailed me. No one knocked on my door. The hotel sent me a report showing high air readings. If the air was bad, why did no one check on me? No staff member came to my room. No one asked if I was safe. I asked the hotel manager for proof that I smoked. He had no photos of ash. No smell report. No witness statements. He only had a printout from a sensor. The manager said their sensor cannot be triggered by hairspray. That is not correct. Hairspray has chemicals that sensors pick up. When I kept asking questions, the manager accused me of trying to buy a good review. He also spelled my name wrong on purpose. News reporters in Boston have looked into this. They found hotels using the same sensors to charge guests for hairspray and steam with no real evidence. I have used this booking site for many years. I have no other complaints like this. A hotel that ignores guest safety and charges surprise fees is not a place I will stay again.

I love the old art deco authenticity of this hotel, and the view is spectacular. The tick tock diner is so convenient and delish. Fabulous!

The room where i stayed was outdated and very small however my cousin’s room are renovated and bigger. Booked with breakfast but not worth it since it only give you option of bagel or toast. Location is good. I’m being generous in giving them a rate of 3/5.

All the major characteristics were excellent or very good. Restaurant was especially convenient and reasonably priced. Staff friendly and welcoming, especially my maid who made a point of cleaning my room during the hour I spent at breakfast. And, you can’t beat the midtown Manhattan location, particularly if you’re traveling by train.
- 4/5
We always stay at the New Yorker when we are in New York, whether for business or for pleasure. The hotel is convenient for us for our business and for attending theatre and restaurants in the theatre district. The price is good for the value. The least expensive rooms are rather small; but some of their rooms are large with a refrigerator. The building is older but renovated. So it has the advantage of larger windows and high ceilings. Ask for corner rooms to get more windows. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And there are many restaurants and stores in easy walking distance.

Rooms were dated. Sloppily painted, hallway noise easily travelled into the room.
- 5/5
Front desk staff nariana( probably spelled wrong, sorry!) was soo helpful and friendly, she went the extra mile to help us!it was a good location to see the city! The hotel definitely was outdated, but it is known for being one of the oldest hotels in manhattan so I wasnt to suprised.

Tik Tok restaurant has delicious food!
- 3/5
Hotel needs to be aesthetically updated to move it into the current times. Please a coffee maker and fridge in the rooms would help. A carpet change and painting would greatly help. Outside of that, we were in and out and were thankful we were not spending more than the weekend there.
- 4/5
Had a good stay after choosing to stay here again. We absolutely love the location at the fact the hotel is so iconic. We only stayed for one night and we were glad it was only one night as we had so much noise coming through for outside the room. It was close to the lift so it was always busy and lots of slamming doors around. There was an awful lot of light coming through the gaps in the door that we tried to block it out the best we could. So not much sleep was had. If we had that room again and I would stay again then I would ask to be moved.
- 4/5
Staff is always very friendly

Room was clean every day. Staff were all very friendly & helpful. The Rueben in the Tiktok restaurant downstairs was good and came out quick. It was also open 24/7 which was great when I forgot to eat all day and realized how hungry I was late at night. All that said when I make it back to New York I will definitely book The New Yorker again. And will recommend it to others planning on going to NYC.
- 5/5
Front desk was very friendly. A man named Mohammad who allowed us to check in early and gave us a room upgrade. Very helpful and accommodating so would recommend this hotel. The rates are pretty good and you are close to Penn station which is easy to get uptown or downtown to all the tourist spots. The hotel room itself is clean and the bed was comfy. I don't think I've ever said this before, but shower pressure was too much - only downside of the room. Aircon, coffee, towels - everything you need. The breakfast bar (Starbucks) downstairs is great addition and perfect to get a morning coffee on your way out. We stayed the day we checkout, but you can store your luggage until 11pm for $5. Again, would definitely recommend.

Hotel is in a great location right by Penn station. Shower was AMAZING. Room was comfortable but the hallway and the room had a persistent sewage smell that was unpleasant. - 3/5
Clean and very friendly staff, everyone was so nice. When you walk in there’s a Starbucks in the corner and lobby is beautiful. Would not stay again because the rooms are old and outdated. No microwave in any room, what’s so ever. Brought some pizza back and couldn’t eat it. Very old tv, it looks like a microwave. We got put in the wrong room but didn’t complain because we didn’t really mind even though the bed was smaller then what we paid for. Dock parking- 4day parking with hotel discount, $180 total.
- 1/5
In the morning I couldn't receive a receipt that I needed because nobody was there in the front desk. And still haven't been shared after 5 hours passed from the check out time ended. The room was not like the one originally promised to have. Dissappointing.

Very outdated hotel. Charged for a smoking fee when I don’t smoke at all and told them it was probably my hair tool releasing smoke into the air. They told me they were going to charge me their fee anyways. Could not get in contact with anyone upon leaving
- 1/5
The heat was not working in the room and it was freezing- the faucets leaked and windows were allowing the cold air to come in. Everything is ancient so the sounds of the city are very loud. The carpet hasn’t been changed (or anything else for that matter) in 50+ years. Terrible terrible place. Book elsewhere. The location isn’t remotely worth it.
- 4/5
Nice property but needs some improvements. I've stayed here 3 time so it'sa good hotel. Very convenient to Penn Station. The shower had a mind of its own. You will not have a consistent water temp and it will go from warm to cold to burning hot. Towels are like sandpaper. The toilet paper is ridiculous. I think the hotel challenged the toilet paper company to give them the thinnest t.p. in the world. You're definitely not saving money with the amount of t.p. that is needed because it's worse than paper thin. Fast elevators and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, and updated room
- 5/5
We have been coming to the New Yorker for many years. Older hotel that's bones have some character. Some of the cheaper rooms are small. Staff is always accommodating, and location can't be beat.
- 5/5
Staff was welcoming as always! Every time we come to the city, we always stay here for the convenience of distance to Penn and MSG! We’ve been staying here since 2022 for concerts and I can’t say enough about how nice everyone always is and the comfort of the stay!
- 5/5
The hotel was amazing- perfect location for exploring everything New York had to offer
- 5/5
De’Marcis was outstanding. Greeted us as soon as we entered the lobby from the street. The front desk staff, security, & cleaning staff were exceptionally friendly. The diner had the best food for reasonable prices being in NYC. Would stay again.
- 1/5
Received false smoking charge upon checkout. Hotel said a sensor tripped once. Housekeeping manager checked our room. called the front desk and told them to remove it. Front desk said no manager available but they have been having issues with their system. We had check out. Can't get a reply from the hotel to get it removed.
- 5/5
The hotel is excellent. The staff is great! Not only was I checked in early, but I was given an upgrade to my room with an excellent view. I come to New York often and I definitely want to stay here again.
- 5/5
Thanks for your everything
- 5/5
Staff was great
- 5/5
Very centric, Times Square and Broadway are within walking distance and staff was super nice and helpful. Would return
- 3/5
Rooms small and old. Bathroom was antiquated too. Would prefer a little more upscale hotel next time. Best thing was the diner attached to the hotel and the Hertz car rental right next door to the hotel.
- 4/5
Place a small fridge in the room would be helpful
- 2/5
According to the condition hotel is over priced
- 5/5
I will be going back the hotel. rooms are clean but dated but the water pressure was the best!!! The best shower taken at a hotel. This hotel is in a great area close to many things fun todo. Worth the money and Monhammed checked us in and he was great.
- 5/5
Great location. Room was small but clean. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Most convenient hotel near Madison square garden and has the best restaurants on site!
- 4/5
At the front desk, Mohammed helped us out by upgrading our room for my birthday and getting us into a room right when we arrived at the hotel. We didn’t have to wait till 4pm for check in or anything and it took so much stress off my shoulders and made our trip such an amazing stay! All of the staff was wonderful and I would highly recommend staying at The New Yorker. It’s a great central location.
- 5/5
Clean, great location and great price.

- 5/5
The staff from the moment we walked in were so friendly and ensuredcthey coukd help.us arrange a driver on the morning of our departure. The two bellmen were amazing!
- 4/5
This room and hotel itself was very clean and streamlined. I was worried I would give an extra fee as I saw many other have issues with that.
- 2/5
the rooms did not look like the images, it was a lot more run down then expected. The beds also very very small. My friend who’s 6 feet had her legs hanging off the end & did not fit two people comfortably.

For check in, there was a lot of staff standing around not helping the check in wait at the counter. There was only one person checking in more than 6 groups of families. After 10 minutes, someone finally made a second line. As I was standing in line, I overheard the guy next to me get the wrong beds when his reservation said to get a King. The guy at the front desk told him he couldn't accomodate him because it was a 3rd party reservation and the staff couldn't do anything about it. I made a reservation through Expedia and also got the wrong bed size and decided to let it go because I didn't want to wait in a long line for the staff to say they can't do anything about it. We should have gotten reimbursed for their mistake on THEIR end of the reservation. Otherwise, everything else was fine. Location was perfect and it was quiet other than hearing toilets flush.
- 4/5
The room was a little small and could have had better lighting, but overall great experience! The staff was great and the building was accessible to major parts of the city.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff were very couteous and accommodating!

Location was great. We were upgraded to a bigger room with 2 bathrooms. There is a Starbucks in the lobby and direct access to a 24 hour diner from the hotel.
- 4/5
Great hotel, location, cleanliness… but boy are New York style room small. Hard to find space in the bathroom to put my makeup bag and clothes! Cozy room nevertheless…
- 4/5
The room was clean and spacious.
- 5/5
Great room, comfortable beds, great brunch at Tick Tock Cafe
- 5/5
The hotel location was perfect, I went to a concert to Madison Square Garden and literally just had to cross the street.

- 4/5
It was like any other good hotel. Nothing special. The bathrooms are small and have no locks.
- 5/5
Grand entrance, easy fast checknin, friendly staff, dinner and starbucks handy, room tidy and pillows amazing!
- 5/5
Easy and fast check in.
- 4/5
Nice place to stay for MSG events.
- 5/5
The staff was absolutely amazing ,only wish I'd had bathroom counter space.
- 3/5
We experienced a very long wait for check in. Unsure if this is typically the case at 9:30 PM on a Saturday, but only 2 agents were staffing the desk and a third eventually came out to chat up the line of nearly 15 parties. He was very friendly. We stayed during an incredibly cold weekend, so the room's draftiness likely couldn't be helped due to the age of the building. Even with the heat turned to high, there was still a breeze at the windows. Our suite was clean and spacious for NYC. The housekeeping staff we encountered were all friendly and accommodating. Would likely stay again, if the weather is better, due to location and price.
- 5/5
The staff was so wonderful, Linda at the desk could not have been nicer and more welcoming. Rooms are big for NYC and we got a great view of the Empire State Building. It's not a brand new hotel so you don't have cutting edge amenities, but everything worked and was clean. Having a good diner accessible from the lobby was a great bonus.
- 3/5
The room was fine, small but did the job. However, it was so cold outside and the room was absolutely freezing unless the heat was blasting. The bathroom had no heat if the door was closed. Air was coming through the windows and the comforter on the bed was flimsy, not retaining enough heat to keep us warm at night.
- 3/5
The room should at least have a microwave, kettle and a mini fridge to access the basic needs.Really disappointed !!!
- 2/5
The heat was off in my room when I arrived! It took 2 days to heat up and then the heat kept turning off. I went to the front desk several times to complain. I was overcharged for the hold on my credit card for extras and that was finally corrected on day 3. I was not offered any kind of credit. Very disappointing and not as good as last year when Wyndham was the owner of the Hotel! The location is great and that’s about it at the moment!
- 4/5
Nice clean room, easy access, friendly staff. Thank you!
- 3/5
We visited during a deep freeze, temperatures were in the single digits to teens. Our room thermostat was set to 74, but the heating was not keeping up with the cold permeating from our windows. Thankfully the hotel staff (thank you, José!) were incredibly responsive. We requested and received extra down blankets within 10 minutes of notifying the hotel of our cold situation, and they sent up the hotel engineer within the hour to work on the thermostat; our room was nice and cozy after that, easily keeping up with the draft. The only thing that peeved me was the $5 charge per bag if you wanted the hotel to store luggage before check-in or after check-out. I would think that, as a guest, luggage storage would be free; we're already paying for the room! If you wanted to check in early, they charge another $75, which I also found silly. If the room is ready, then let the guest in! So, overall: Old building does not do well with extreme cold, the hotel charges for silly things, but hotel staff were great.
- 5/5
This hotel is luxurious at an affordable price with so much to offer.
- 5/5
Clean room, 3 restaurants on site, great sat overall!
- 1/5
Room was dirty and outdated nothing like the pictures we left immediately after check in
- 2/5
The worst part really was how dirty our room was. There was black markings and dirt all over the bathroom walls and rust everywhere. We would never stay here again. Completely filthy!
- 5/5
- 3/5
Thestaff members were very nice
- 4/5
There are some concierge-types that just greet you by the elevators, and some who ask to see your key cards to get on the elevator. I found that confusing and it made me feel not special. They charged me $10 to check my bags for an hour. The revolving door broke for a little while and it made the lobby awkward due to the cold.
- 5/5
Staff very courteous
- 5/5
Room was clean and ready for early check-in. The view was amazing
- 5/5
Everything was amazing! The room was wonderful, the staff was outstanding, it made our stay really great
- 4/5
The location was perfect for my trip. I was in town for the fight at MSG and the hotel is directly across the street. Not too far from anything in manhattan. Elevators were available and fast every time it was needed. No complaints at all!
- 3/5
Shower a little dated. Handle came off. Water dripping.
- 4/5
Good value. Cool building, great location.
- 4/5
Room was nice, the front desk check in wasn't that nice and was annoyed that i didnt read the check out policy even when I said i knew it from being there before. other than that we like that place.
- 5/5
Room was very clean. Hotel staff was excellent. Very helpful and friendly. Very courteous.

- 5/5

- 1/5
Room was tiny and looked nothing like the photos. It was freezing and the heater did not work. Hotel is outdated and amongst the worst I’ve ever been to. Location to Madison Square Garden was the only positive.
- 4/5
Staff friendly. Key card didn’t work til the 4th trip back and forth. Bedding/ bed was great. Cleanliness I give 3 stars. Hotel is dated. Room was either freezing or too hot (was there in bad storm). Two restaurants attached was convenient and great location near train station and Madison square garden
- 3/5
The room was cold. I had to turn the heat all the way up to 85 degrees. Big draft coming from by the windows.
- 5/5
The people at the desk were great, friendly, and extremely helpful.
- 5/5
Execelente hotel para estar en familia
- 5/5

- 3/5
Room was okay, old property so they need to upgrade. Its ridiculous that they charge to hold your luggage.
- 4/5
Accommodating staffs and location
- 5/5
Muhammad made my stay at The New Yorker amazing, he was friendly, attentive and made our short 20hour stay in NY fantastic. He acknowledge our birthdays and helped us pick where to eat & get drinks. Thank you Muhammad for making our short stay so memorable!! Five star employee!
- 3/5
Hotel room was smaller than advertised , no fan in bathroom so a lot of water drippage , windows all had drafts so room was very cold regardless of heat, only saw room service once other than that it was a pleasurable experience and the lobby staff was wonderful.
- 4/5
I live in Orange County NY, and Travel to NYC daily for work. Whenever I’m going to be stuck for a few days (such as the Resent Nor’easter) I try to book the New Yorker. For me it is the best value. The New Yorker is a classic hotel with a lot of history.
- 5/5
Gorgeous!
- 3/5
Staff was great shout out nahomi price was good the hotel itself is just old not menu amenities but great location just needs a modern redo the rooms feel like I’m in the 1990s
- 5/5
Staff was very courteous, the room and view were amazing! The bathroom itself was very clean. Thought the bathroom is not a fancy minimalists' dream, it has been recently painted and didn't feel like it was lacking anything. The view itself is worth everything. To wake up and see the city as far as your eye can see. Again staff was great.
- 4/5
Location was perfect
- 5/5
Rooms are clean, staff is very helpful. Nice location next to MSG. Great restaurants and drink options near by. CVS next door too!
- 3/5
mid, restaurants were bomb tho
- 3/5
We had to run the hot water for at least 10 minutes before the water started to warm up--a huge waste of water resources. A guide to the TV channels would have been helpful--we had no way of knowing what we were watching or planning to watch.
- 4/5
Room was spacious but had issues with staying warm (bathroom was downright chilly). Staff was super friendly, and all the restaurants on site stayed open through a major snowstorm, which was very nice.
- 4/5
Housekeeping staff amazing. Only concern…. Was charged a smoking fee and I don’t/didn’t smoke or vape. Room key cards are very sensitive and demagnetized several times during our stay. Check-in involves long lines. Give yourself time and wear your flexible pants.

Room had roaches on the bed. Had to change rooms. Manager made it better but still it was very outdated hotel. they did remodels like putting lipstick on a pig. will more than likely never stay here again. only cool thing was the location and the butcher and banker steakhouse was super cool. they will also charge you to hold your bags at bell desk 5.00 bag such a rip off never in my life have i stayed at a hotel that they charged to hold your bags. poor service very sassy employees. to bad. i’m being nice giving them 2 stars. also the pictures on expedia looked nothing like the actual hotel the pictures look way to nice compared to what you actually get. i would not recommend way nicer hotels to stay at.
- 5/5
good
- 4/5
The staff (Olympia and DeMarkus) were wonderful. We weren’t happy with our room (be sure to select the renovated rooms on the executive floor) and the staff made it right. We will stay there again for sure. Location is great.
- 2/5
Bathroom was so small you could put the toilet seat up, every button on the soda machine had Diet Pepsi in it, trying to get help from anyone other than cleaning staff was near impossible
- 4/5
Room was great, just what we expected for the price paid.
- 1/5
The room and amenities were fine. However, after I checked out the hotel charged me a $620 fee for "smoking" when there was no smoking or vaping done in the room. I used a Dyson Airwrap, which caused steam to be in the room.
- 4/5
The room was not worth the $315 a night I paid for. The door to the bathroom didn't shut, and there was no ventilation in the bathroom, which meant that when you took a hot shower(In December), it was extremely humid and just made everything all wet. The staff was nice but the room was not worth that much. Maybe $200 but thats it.
- 4/5
Totally serviceable hotel. Not too many bells or whistles at this price point, but I just wanted to be close to Madison Square Garden and you can't be location of the hotel for that. I mainly took off a star because no one would answer the phone when I called the concierge or the staff using the dedicated buttons on the phone in my room. All I wanted to know what which floor had an ice machine, because there wasn't one on my floor, nor was there a sign in the vending area on my floor directing me to an ice machine.
- 5/5
Great and quick check-in, with a very friendly and polite front desk person.
- 5/5
All was good - no breakfast to comment on
- 5/5
Excellent services. Good location and breakfast.
- 2/5
The room was too small ,the bathroom is too old
- 5/5
Everything was perfect!
- 3/5
The staff were great, there was such a lively vibe in the lobby — holiday decorations and music, and the location is excellent if you want to be near Penn Station and the subway (and walking distance to so many attractions). Having the diner right there was convenient for breakfast. However, we are a family of 5 and the family suite was just too crowded. The secondary room with sleeper sofa was ridiculously tiny when the bed was in use. And the mattress was literally a thick foam pad. The property is just old and needs updating— our suite and the 26th floor especially (lobby area looks much nicer). Our room felt like it hadn’t been updated in decades. The photos online were a bit misleading, giving the impression we would have more space. Would we stay there again? No. Not for the money we spent. But do I have pleasant memories of the stay? Yes, thanks to the positives mentioned above.
- 5/5
The location was so convenient…especially as Penn Station across the street had a great food court to satisfy the whole family’s separate cravings for lunch and dinner time. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our family felt safe and the entire vibe felt very New York. We will return!
- 5/5
So it started bad. The room i originally had was very small and very dated.. They went above and beyond to correct it. I upgraded for a little more money and went to the 38th floor! We got the best room in the hotel! 3808! We had a balcony the we could see Central Park AND One WTC! It made Al the difference in our trip. This is an old school property. Know that going in. But the staff was amazing.
- 3/5
Maintenance had to be called for heater issues, twice.
- 4/5
Hotel staff gets an excellent! However, our room was so small we got in each others way. A staff member Sean, chatted with us and helped us navigate the city. What a great guy!
- 4/5
Staff muy amable Calefacción adecuada Confort en general bueno
- 2/5
We had an absolutely terrible check in experience. The front desk staff & managers were less than helpful at any point during the process explained below. We reserved a double bed room and upon arrival were told that that room type wasn’t available that night. They put us in a single bed room and we were a party of 4 people. It was about 130’sq feet and the manager promised that 2 roll away beds would fit. They did not. We slept 3 to a small double bed and 1 on a rollaway. We had to pack all of our stuff, go back downstairs the next morning to start the process all over again. I was told there would be no upgrades and that we would just get the room we originally reserved. After expressing my irritation with the process and major inconvenience, they offered to waive the facilities fees and late check out fee. I had to all but demand a room upgrade for the trouble. After storing bags, being promised a 3:00 check-in to our new room we left for the day. We returned to find our room NOT ready and waiting again for 30 mins for a resolution to yet another problem. When we finally did get a room, it was thankfully a refurbished room. There are few of those(refurbished)and the pictures online are not what the majority of the rooms in this hotel look like. The majority are very old, very run down, extremely small, and need to be refurbished. Needless to say, we will not ever be staying here again.
- 2/5
Room dirty

Excellent location to establish Ground Zero for your greatest New York City experience. Clean, safe, and 25 steps from Madison Square Garden in a great neighborhood! Highly recommended, and if you have a family of four do the upgrade and get the extra room!

Beautiful place. Very convenient.

Perfect everything 👍
- 3/5
Room very small, but expected in NYC. Definitely could’ve been much cleaner. The entrance definitely shadows how the rest of the hotel looks.
- 4/5
I had a great stay at the New Yorker by Lotte Hotels .The area felt safe and the location was excellent—easy walking distance to Times Square and many nearby attractions. The staff was helpful and welcoming throughout my stay. My room included free breakfast at the Tick Tock Diner; although it was busy, the food arrived promptly and was hot and delicious. The room itself was small but very clean, well-organized, and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again for the location and overall convenience.
- 5/5
Outstanding customer service, updated rooms, and central location. Tick Tock diner in the Lobby is also excellent.
- 4/5
Very clean lobby and rooms and halls. Excellent work from the cleaning staff. However the room was small. We got the family suite. Photos online very misleading. The location is perfect. Coffee shops just across the street. The best smelling shampoo and conditioner ever!

The staff is courteous, accommodating, and friendly. Love the art deco , the last of old New York’s beautiful hotels. Best value for New York!
- 3/5
Just meh! Good location. Older building that’s both charming and a bit dilapidated. We were NOT given a free breakfast. And, after checking out (a couple of hours early) we were told it would be $5 a bag to store our luggage until our train 3 hours later.
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff. Great location.
- 5/5
Great location. Staff was very friendly. Mohammad was professional and help us with our questions and our early arrival check in. Love how secure the location was.

- 5/5
The room looks old
- 5/5
Always a great stay
- 4/5
Hotel’s location is superb. The size of the room we got is definitely smaller than expected considering that it was an upgraded room. The bathroom is very small and tight. Staff is very nice and helpful.
- 5/5
All staff members were friendly and helpful at all times - front desk, Elijah, helped make checking in easy and effortless; Housekeeping staff were always pleasant and accommodating - since we always had the "Do Not Disturb" sign out, then would inquire as we left our room if we needed anything - even when other visitors left their food & trash spread out on the floor fronting elevators, the staff cleaned it immediately; Glad there were the Elevator Doormen who checked to make sure only guests passed through; Grateful Tick Tock Diner was open 24/7 - made it easier when we were too tired to stand in long lines; Air conditioning helped to keep our room warm in this nippy weather; hot water for showers was wonderful!
- 3/5
No breakfast or coffee in room. Toiletries minimum at best.
- 2/5
I stayed there last night with my family.Three kids, we didn't have enough blankets in our room for all the kids.I went down to the desk on two separate occasions and asked for a blanket for my daughter.I was told that somebody would bring it up.Nobody brought up a blanket.I went back down, give my room number. They had my name, I was told somebody would bring up a blanket.Nobody ever brought up a blanket for us
- 4/5
Bathroom: clean, I was slightly uncomfortable with the bath tub / shower area is facing the window and curtain couldn't be extended to provide extra cover. Staff: adequately courteous. Location: Best-near train and bus stations, walking distance from Madison Square Garden, Morgan Library, Herald Square, Times Square, Broadway, and 5th Avenue tourist spots.
- 1/5
The worse hotel that u can imagine. External dated. It is truly at motel 6 level

- 2/5
Very dated rooms, website showed different. Over an hour wait to check in.
- 4/5
Room was stuffy. Could hear all the people in the hallway
- 4/5
Location is amazing. Subway next to hotel, tucked between Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. Hotel has several restaurants and CVS across the street.
- 5/5
We did they have a chance to have breakfast in there, but we went to the Starbucks kiosk I need more variety. They’re pretty limited. but I have a chance to go to the TikTok restaurant, which it was you? fabulous.

- 5/5
Staff was wonderful!
- 1/5
King room smelt like BO and sage but they didn’t have another king room for us. Not good experience because of this!
