Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its location near Times Square, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, some guests have complained about noise, small rooms, and issues with the air conditioning and bathroom facilities.
- Great location near Times Square
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Noise from street and other rooms
- Small rooms with sticky floors and no fan in bathroom

Great hotel with a great bar and restaurant on property! And such a great location to walk to all the sights!
- 5/5
Very friendly staff and a great location close to Time Square, but on a quiet street. Would definitely recommend!!
- 4/5
Couldn’t ask for a better location if you are going to Broadway shows. But rooms are small, staff can be indifferent, and price is very high. Depends what trade/offs you are able to make.

We loved our accommodation and plan to stay here again on our next NYC trip. A welcoming oasis in the middle of everything! Loved coming “home” to our sweet place at the end of each day.

Luxurious feel and beautifully appointed hotel. Steps away from Times Square and Bryant Park and yet very relaxing and calming environment. They made every inch of this place comfortable. Delicious food and very attentive staff. Would definitely stay here again.

Very warm and friendly staffs. Rooms are clean and cozy. Will recommend to everyone.

Wonderful stay right off Times Square. We were even provided a bag of amenities for the day when we did not opt for room service. Great restaurant area with several breakfast options for purchase. There is a bar as well. The windows blocked out most of the noise but this location has lots of activity well into the night (as expected), especially on weekends and holidays. We were traveling with kids and it did not impact them, however. Great value for money. Will most definitely return.

I absolutely love the hotel’s restaurant bar—such a fantastic spot! I can't wait to return. Highly recommended!!

A go to in Midtown especially if you live a full Irish breakfast and Irish radio

The staff was fantastic. Kind, helpful, and present. The restaurant provided excellent food and a great atmosphere. Also, a perfect location to access the theater district and all that mid-town Manhattan had to offer.

I enjoyed my stay. Didn’t have a problem

Location was great. Staff was nice. The rooms were nice cosy. Also liked that they stocked the room with water bottles every day. The decore was modern and classic. I would come again here.

We’ve stayed at this property before and it’s wonderfully located and the staff is amazing. It’s not a huge hotel but I like that because you can get specialized services that you can always get at the bigger hotels.

The location of the hotel is perfect if you are going to Broadway, or trying to be within Midtown. The room is always clean and you have everything you need for your stay. The hotel is quiet and the staff are friendly. Nothing

The staff were great and having the onsite restaurant as an option was also a plus. The location was perfect since there was a parking garage immediately across the street and it was less than 1/2 a block away from Times Square. It was extremely convenient and I’d definitely stay here again!

Not worth the money. Find another hotel. Lots options for the same price. Rooms are tiny, and you can actively hear nearby rooms when people are showering, walking, talking...Food vouchers are useable once a day per room, but the food is not worth it.

Location so accessible to the Theater District. A small hotel with charm. Dining facilities on site. Our room charge included a credit for a drink or snack in the restaurant. The street noise was present since it is not a high rise. There was no lobby, just two different areas to drink or dine.

The hotel was so convenient to Broadway and 5th Avenue. Sebastian and Hugo are also great bartenders. Will be staying here again on my next visit.

Lovely boutique hotel in great location. Enjoy breakfast and after dinner drinks at the bar.

The entrance door into our room 405 was not fully closing, there was a gap, basically opening into the hallway, so we could heal all noises. The room was very small, and felt cramped.

The location was outstanding—close to everything and perfect for exploring the city. The hotel is beautifully designed with a modern, upscale feel, and the room was very clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and made the stay feel effortless. The room was a bit cozy, but it was well-designed and still very comfortable for our stay.

Wonderful place in the middle of the theater district. Staff was exceptional. We met the owners. Very gracious. Food was delicious breakfast was in an atrium. Loved our stay There is no place to unload, so go park your car if you have one and bring your suitcase along. Most ppl don't drive so may not be an issue. Robopark a half a block away, this is the way to go is you have a car.

Everything was great! Great staff, great food! Copy place…. I want to be back soon!
- 4/5
The hotel room was expensive but that's probably to be expected in NY. The food and drinks were expensive. The voucher would only cover 1 small entre or drink.
- 2/5
The room is terribly small and apparently it’s the largest one they have. There is no trash can, no fridge, no closet, no room to even walk. I have stayed in about 30 different nyc hotels and this by far the worst particularly in view of the price. If it was a third of what I paid I might understand. Location is good but I would pick another hotel nearby.

Great location.

What a gem of a hotel! The staff is amazing, the location is great, and the room was clean and spacious for NYC. That i was only staying one night and didn't get to try the restaurant.

Excellent central location. Clean comfortable room with all necessary amenities. With the $25 guest coupon breakfast was a bargain and the food excellent Very hot outside the room. Lack of closet space but I accept we may have been assigned a room with minimal amount as we only stayed 1 night

It's small (welcome to NYC!), but very well done. All staff members we encountered were so friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. Some items could use a refresh but the rooms were well-appointed. There is a fun bar right next door, but the only caveat is due to its popularity, if your room is facing the street, it is loud - not traffic noise but loud people outside. Again, that's NYC. Overall, great location, great hotel and I would definitely stay there again!

Simply a quaint and cozy boutique hotel with European atmoshere. The Merrion Row Hotel and Public House was everything we had hoped for, and more. We were so thankful that we had cancelled a previous reservation at a larger, business/chain hotel and realize how special "coming home" to this hotel contributed to our entire trip. Every aspect of our stay felt like we were with family. We enjoyed and appreciated the hospitality of our hosts and the distinct and delicious entrees for breakfast and dinner. Rooms were clean, stylish and simple with everything we needed. We even had a front room, facing W.45th Street and never minded the sounds of NYC around us. We will continue to recommend the Merrion Row Hotel to everyone going to New York and look forward to our next visit.

The only thing that wasn't my favorite was the "vouchers?" I had no idea that we would be charged for the vouchers that we were given for the room to use in your restaurant? I didn't ask for them (3), and they were literally referred to as "complimentary?" So when I received a bill for them, I was actually upset. If we weren't late for a plane there would have been an in depth conversation about it. So other than that, I would absolutely stay again and even recommend it to others.

This hotel is TINY. My room was so small there was nowhere to lay down my suitcase. (I had a King Suite) Finding anyone to help was difficult and when I did find someone they were not really and acted inconvenienced. The bar and waitstaff were wonderful. My room was very loud - I heard everything nextdoor and outside.

Rooms were tiny. No where to even lay my suitcase open and I had a king suite. The noise level was insanely loud, even for NYC. I could never find anyone to help me. Phone didn’t work, bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed. The beds were comfortable and the shower was okay - so it wasn’t a total disaster.

Our room was at the rear of the hotel and very quiet although it was very close to Times Square etc. It was extremely clean and had all the amenities we needed for a 2 night stay. A good choice of options were on the menu for both breakfast and dinner and the food was very good. All the staff were courteous and polite. We would have no problem recommending this hotel. The Irish bar next door was pretty good too!!

Location amazing - walkable to Times Square, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central. A very “ personal” hotel where the staff knows you by name and will stop to chat or offer a taste of irish whiskey, assist w baggage/advice/directions. Shona, the Manager is lovely and attentive . Sebastian at the bar and restaurant is kind and knowledgable . Rooms are tiny, with no in- room coffee, fridge, and teeny closet/hanging space, but everything was clean, tidy, and comfortable . We felt safe and taken care of . With just under 30 rooms here, you will feel like family . The hotel staff is amazing . Irish gem, indeed .

What I loved about Merrion Row Hotel and Public House was their attention to detail, their exceptional and friendly service, the food options (including the Irish pub next door), and of course the value all of the above offers within walking distance to Broadway performances and Time Square. The hotel itself is reminiscent of some of the boutique hotels in Rome Old Town (e.g. The Britannia). With only around 28 rooms, you get personalized attention. The hotel is exceptionally well maintained.

This was a delightful discovery! Apparently opened in 2018, this historic building is a 28 room Irish boutique hotel in the middle of the theatre district. Surprisingly quiet with a nice, sunny breakfast room serving delicious fare including a full Irish breakfast. There's also a bar and a dining room that looks out on the street. My Small room was tastefully decorated with good air conditioning and a rather large bathroom with nice smelling shampoo and good water pressure. In short, I liked it a lot.

Quaint, cute and terrific staff, but too much noise from the street and adjacent rooms. Overpriced coffee at $8, but breakfast otherwise delicious and of decent value. Great location if you are in NY for shows.

A quirky, boutique style hotel, we liked it but the reception is no more than a hostess station countertop and the employees barely looked up from her cell phone to acknowledge our arrival and not once during our entire stay shed a smile or a welcoming comment. For a property of this quality and location and price, that was disappointing. We were two adults and got only one bath towel both days. While not a deal breaker perhaps, these are details that we should not have had to experience as guests. I do want to give a shout out to Daniel at the breakfast. He was absolutely great and went way above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our meals and service. He would be a great trainer to your receptionists about good customer service.

Staff were very welcoming and looked after our luggage prior to check in and after check out as we were taking a late flight, meaning we could explore the city on our final day luggage free. The hotel & rooms are very clean and tidy. Rooms were made up and fresh towels provided daily. The room we had was a little small, but when you’re in New York you don’t spend a lot of time in your room, so this wasn’t an issue. Thank you team Merrion Row - we will stay here again!

This cozy nook of a hotel is nestled in bustling TimesSquare area. Perfect location for us to stay for a quick broadway overnight stay. Room was spacious for NYC standards; bathroom was spotlessly cleaned and the bed was comfortable 10/10 stay. We didn’t interact much with the staff simply due to our schedule and reservations elsewhere. We appreciated how quiet it was and got a good nights rest. We will be back!

My wife didn't want a big hotel that took forever to get to the rooms. This was ideal and the beds were so comfortable, not the biggest of rooms but no problem as who spends lots of time in hotels when there is so much to see. Staff were great too.

Cleaning staff should wear hair nets if some kind. Found the same color and type of hair on bed sheet (under covers, on a pillow, and on the bathroom wall.). I believe that the room is clean, and the hair likely belong to the cleaning staff. It is still unpleasant and unsanitary to find the hair of others in a clean hotel room. Hair nets or baseball caps with hair pulled back could stop shed hair from being shared with guests, as it works very well for restaurant staff.

Great spot near Times Square without the craziness. Owners are very hospitable and have great recommendations. Check out the Irish pub next door on 4th fooor which is owned by hotel.

The cons: Room 203 had no hot water our first night which we didn’t know until trying to shower after a long day at 10:00pm. Someone came to look at it but all he did was run the water for 10 minutes which I of course has already tried. We had to get two separate rooms for that night and those showers were fine. They put us back in 203 the next day saying the shower was fixed, and while there was hot water, it took forever to find the exact spot to point the lever and then 3 full minutes (yes I timed it the last day) for it to warm up. Then once it was hot, it was close to impossible to make it not scalding hot or freezing cold…so yeah, not ideal. I would recommend the hotel IF you can request not to stay in 203. Also, if you drive in and need to park, the garage directly across the street is so convenient and the guys there are very nice.

Disappointed. The beds were “Murphy” type (kind that fold up into the wall) & were loud. Not very comfortable - like a nicer sofa bed. We were on the 2nd floor & the room was in the front, above the entrance. Noise level was horrible. Was like we had the windows open. One morning at 6am, they delivered kegs to the pub next door. At 2am the next night, a trash truck came to empty dumpsters. I expect noise (We travel to NYC frequently), but this was ridiculous. Staff was mostly friendly but could seem like they were annoyed you were asking questions/speaking to them. Shower temp wouldn’t cooperate. Also, ask for the price up front if they offer to call you a cab. I mentioned taking an Uber. Front desk said she would call me a car & asked if I was going to the airport. Told her I was going to Penn Station. A mini van arrived. When we got to the station, he said the total was FIFTY-FIVE dollars (for a 0.9 mile/12 minute ride). When questioned, the driver said it was a “private service.” Yes, I didn’t ask the cost, but assumed it would be around the $25 we paid to take a cab from the train station to the hotel or the $16 Uber quoted. Called the hotel when I got home to ask the number of the taxi company & the front desk told me it was expensive because it was a “car service” not taxi & they didn’t have a number. Overall, the stay was fine, but I wouldn’t stay there again. Hotel tries to justify the price ($450+/night) by calling itself a boutique hotel. It’s not worth the cost.

Great location… very nice and quiet (for Times Square area). Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Merrion Row Hotel. The staff could not be more helpful and kind. We enjoyed our meal in the quaint restaurant. We appreciated the $25 per day food credit—they made us lovely cappuccinos to start our mornings. The beds were some of the most comfortable we’ve had in hotels. They don’t look like they would be, but they absolutely were. Merrion Row is a lovely slice of tranquility in the hustle and bustle of this district. We will definitely stay here again.

The room, bar and breakfast space were all beautiful. You can tell a lot of time and care was put into the design of the space. Unfortunately, the woman on reception in the late afternoon/evening let's the place down - they were borderline rude upon checking in, and dismissive when we returned in the evening to find the elevator was out of order (again) and we were staying on the 6th floor - she was more interested in her phone and seemed annoyed that we were there. Such a shame, because the other staff were lovely, especially Sebastian in the bar.

Great stay in a very nice boutique hotel. Room was nice, very quiet. On site restaurant was great. The best location just off times square.
- 5/5
This little boutique hotel was absolutely wonderful! Everything about it! The staff was always there to help you with anything! It felt so at home and just lovely! Perfect location! I would stay here again and again! Our perfect NYC vacation!

Great little hotel - breath of fresh air in Times Square. Very updated and impeccably clean! Would be great for an adult trip, but wouldn’t stay again with my child. Could hear the bar next door on the weekend super loudly at night. Also staff were not very present, but very helpful when they were there.

We loved the location, small number of rooms, restaurant and exceedingly friendly staff! A hug win all around!

My fiance & I had a room on the 6th floor & the only elevator in the building kept breaking. More than once. Very inconvenient, especially for the steep price we paid for an extremely tiny room. At least we were right in the thick of the area. But even bigger than the inconvenience, it was a safety concern. Why would you let the public on an elevator that KEEPS breaking instead of focusing on FIXING THE PROBLEM RIGHT THE FIRST TIME & NOT PUTTING GUESTS & THE CLEANING STAFF ON DANGER. If you're going to do something, do it right. We paid more than enough for what felt like a dysfunctional closet to sleep in. However, the room was very clean & seemingly well kept. The two members of staff we saw were very nice & polite, although one wouldn't get off her phone. Overall, the cost was not worth the stay, however we don't consider it a total waste as we had a clean, safe place to sleep. That's all we got - the extreme bare minimum, but it beats sleeping outside. We didn't absolutely hate it, but also wouldn't reccomend this hotel.
- 5/5
We were very comfortable.
- 1/5
bed comforter had cat hair on it. bed top sheet had stain on it. bed top sheet also had several bugs (flees?) on it. room stay was cancelled and we instead stayed with relatives
- 4/5
Everything was fine and up to par, except the humongous neck-breaking pillows. After being unable to sleep for two nights, I finally rolled up a towel and slept with that as my pillow.
- 5/5
Quite simply I would go back tomorrow. Room quite small but you’re not in it that much. Had everything we needed. Breakfast was great, as was the one evening meal we had. Location could not be beaten. Within easy walking distance of many attractions.

This hotel is in a great location and I never felt unsafe. Staff was friendly and professional. Food at the restaurant was delicious.

Such a lovely, friendly retreat the midst of the chaos of Times Square.
- 5/5
Merrion Row is a fantastic location for access to the theatre district and Times Square. The rooms are nice, the staff is outstanding, and the restaurant/bar is very good. We had a wonderful visit.
- 5/5
Our waiter at breakfast was fantastic. Owner (I would assume, older gentleman with white beard and a hat) came and checked on us, and later on shook our hand when we were leaving to thank us for our stay. Where do you get that anymore!
- 5/5
This place is fabulous. We love it. The rooms are a tiny bit small so be prepared, but it is New York City and the walls are not super insulated, but it is the cutest place. It was still relatively quiet and we love the public house.
- 3/5
The hotel is in a great location, has a great restaurant downstairs, and the staff is very helpful. However, our room was not in great condition. The sink drain stopper did not work, the ironing board’s wall hanger fell off the wall, our room phone was initially broken, and the floor needed to be renovated. Our bed would literally shake every time someone in the adjacent room stomped around on their floorboards, and it would make the loudest squeaking noises which would wake us up. The room also had not been properly dusted in quite a while since the top and back of bed’s headboard and the curtains were caked in dust.
- 5/5
Gem of a charming little hotel and pub/restaurant, an island of Irish hospitality tucked away right next to Times Square. Staff were attentive, meals excellent, the pub was quite popular and fun in the evenings but not raucous. We will definitely stay there again on future visits to NYC.
- 5/5
Everything about this place was super cute and cozy. The girl who checked us in was very nice and accommodating.
- 5/5
Stayed two nights while seeing a play and sights of New York City. Great location and quaint smaller hotel with excellent service
- 5/5
We were looking for a hotel within walking distance of the Theater District but not in a crazy loud location, and were lucky enough to happen upon the Merrion Row Hotel and Public House. This little gem feels more like it should be in Dublin, rather than the heart of NY with its cozy, quiet atmosphere, attentive personable service and Irish radio streaming over the speakers in the lobby. Our King studio room was a very nice size and quiet, despite overlooking 45th Street and the bed was very comfortable. You would never know we were just steps away from Times Square! We were given a $25 voucher to use towards a meal or drink. We used it for one of the better hotel breakfasts I have had in long time. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a clean, lovey, stay in the heart of NYC.

Only complaint, loud Irish radio station that played everywhere throughout the hotel
- 5/5
Amazing hotel, so central beside Time Square but great soundproofing in the hotel resulted in a peaceful stay. All staff are excellent, from the welcome we received through to breakfast or drinks we had there throughout the day. The décor of the room and wider hotel looks fresh, upmarket and classy. Thoroughly enjoyed and will be back. Thanks to Shona and team for a great stay.

Just the best, friendly place I have ever stayed in NYC
- 5/5
Staff worked to have our room ready for check-in before our 2:00 PM show. Very quiet despite being in the heart of the theater district. A 1-minute walk from the theater (next door) after our evening show. Small, but pretty room.
- 5/5
Antic atmosphere but very well maintained. Soundproof might be an issue for sensitive people but it was acceptable for me.
- 5/5
Small room in small hotel, but it had everything we needed. Good water pressure, stable secure WiFi, and extra comfortable beds. Easy walking distance to theatres. Just off Times Square, but quiet enough. The onsite restaurant has New York City prices, but the food is delicious and a reasonable value for the cost. We would stay here again.
- 5/5
- 5/5
Shona and her staff cannot do enough for you. The restaurant had a great menu and the Irish nachos were new to us but we went back for more. Breakfast menu had a great choice, something for everyone. We cannot recommend this hotel enough. We will be back, sooner rather than later.
- 5/5
For a hotel in Midtown Manhattan, this hotel was superb. Shockingly spacious room and shockingly quiet for a block from Times Square. Beautiful place with pedestrian ease and comforts. Step right out into the streets of Manhattan. The pub next door was such a great extra! Will most definitely return
- 5/5
This is a hidden gem in the heart of Manhattan at affordable prices. From now on, I will be staying only here when in NYC. They have cozy, quiet, and scrupulously clean rooms, an unbeatable location close to everything you look for in NYC, a great public house right on the premises offering a rich and delicious menu selection, creative cocktails, and a decent wine list. Last but not least, the staff is very welcoming and helpful. They make you feel like a valued customer. So, you will definitely wish to come back.

Housekeeping was excellent. Rooms were very clean. Walls are paper thin. Can very easily hear your neighbors. No coffee maker or kettle in rooms. Location is right ofc Times Square easy access to tourist spots. Good hotel, but nothing really stood out.

- noise: on our first night, we were placed in a room facing the street, we spent a horrible night, impossible to sleep, the windows are way too thin for the level of noise (there is a pub next door), maybe something that should be changed. However the manager was great and we could change room for the next 3 nights and were in the back of the building, so no more street noise. - No fridge in the room. For a 4-star hotel, that was a huge disappointment. We were thinking of keeping some food in the room for breakfast but it was no possible.
- 5/5
Excellent staff, service, location and food offerings
- 5/5
This is my favorite place to stay when I’m in town for Broadway shows. The staff is very nice and the rooms are very comfortable. An in house restaurant that serves delicious breakfast and dinner is a plus when the surrounding restaurants in the area are overcrowded. 10/10 would recommend.
