Reviews
The James Hotel in New York receives mixed reviews, with guests appreciating its central location and comfortable beds, but expressing concerns about room size, cleanliness, and noise levels. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness are frequently praised, but some guests have had negative experiences with housekeeping and front desk services.

Convenient location, rooms are clean and bigger than other comparable hotels in the area, friendly staff. Great bar with live music on the weekend.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. Great location, large rooms, clean and the staff were kind and helpful. Our only issue surrounded parking. There was some confusion about what garage cars were being parked in, so we had to plan to park our own vehicle one of the nights (rather than valet at hotel). We were able to walk everywhere but subway access would have been easily accessible if needed.

Large room - all new- quiet room! VERY COMFORTABLE beds!
- 5/5
It's our new favorite hotel in New York City. Everything about it was appealing. Not ostentatious. Cozy. We had a small room but that's what we expect in the city. It was quiet and its amenities were perfect: comfortable bed, bedside lamps on dimmers, excellent shower. And this may be a small detail for some, but they provide a small bar of soap, instead of a giant one the majority of which will be tossed. The staff are friendly, I was able to print something, the lobby is comfortable, provides coffee in the morning, and is a great place to work. It feels like they have thought through all the details. We will return!

Location seemed good. There was a lot of noise in the middle of the night outside our room and on the floor. Also people slamming their doors was reverberating our door so loud that it made us think like there was violent knocks on our door. Plus someone was in the shower in surrounding rooms and we could hear the forced shower loud in our room—this was between 12-2am in the morning while we were trying to sleep and had a flight early in the morning.

Location is great for midtown. The rooms are simple and on the smaller side.

The doom was dirty, I found hair ties throughout the bathroom and the sheets had a few marks on them - it’s like housekeeping gave up. Throughout the night it was incredibly noisy and I found out the next morning that it was bc the windows were opened by housekeeping and never closed. I paid $900 for one night and honestly this was the worst “luxury” hotel I have ever stayed in. Oh, and careful with your $40 food credit you get via hotels.com.. they still tried to charge me and I caught it after I checked out and had to make them refund the VIP food credit. When I shared my experience upon check out, they removed the amenity fee and said they would give me an upgrade when I come back…. Well, never returning to this dump after that experience.
- 2/5
However, the hotel was not well maintained, a few things: * The lights were not working properly when we came in, they had to bring someone to fix them * The sink would clog * The shower water power was very weak * The heater did not work properly. Technician came twice to fix it and at the end they gave us extra blankets

This was a great location for us. Easy access to the train and shops. It was central to everything we wanted to do. We had no wash cloths in our room. The body gel and shampoo bottles were empty. One of the dresser drawers was broken and unusable.
- 3/5
It was OK, very clean and decent size room. But small, esp bathroom where my knees were hitting the vanity. Not enough outlets or counter/nightstand space. No in-room amenities except over-priced mini bar. Staff was fairly apathetic.

The room was very spacious especially for a NYC hotel. The location was great for walking to sights and restaurants. Although the drinks at the bar were pricey, they had a great selection. Would definitely stay here again!

The location was convenient for my son’s internship in Manhattan. Unfortunately, this was completely overshadowed by the mismatch between the price paid and the actual level of service, as well as the extremely poor handling of a situation that clearly went far beyond a normal customer experience by both the hotel and Booking.com. Paying over $3,300 for 6 nights at a Hyatt-managed hotel in New York resulted in one of the worst booking and customer support experiences we have encountered. The reservation was sold through Booking.com as accommodation “with breakfast included” exactly as stated in the booking confirmation. Only after payment and check-in did it become clear that the “included breakfast” effectively consisted of a yogurt parfait or fruit plate with a beverage - something extremely difficult to consider an appropriate breakfast for a Hyatt-managed hotel of this category and price level. The hotel itself was largely unresponsive, while Booking.com continuously shifted responsibility between parties instead of resolving the issue. Hyatt Global Support explicitly stated that responsibility for transparency of booking conditions lies with Booking.com as the platform through which the reservation was purchased. Already the day after payment and check-in, comparable accommodation under similar conditions was being offered for approximately $1,000 less, while no additional level of service or benefits were provided to justify the substantially higher amount paid by me. The overall support experience was unacceptable: - template responses, - constant delays, - lack of ownership, - and endless redirection between Booking.com and the hotel. Choosing this hotel for my son, who was alone in New York, I relied on the reputation of the Hyatt brand and expected an appropriate level of service and support. As of today, we are still awaiting the return of the $600 deposit as well as adequate compensation for the time, stress, and extremely uncomfortable experience created during our son’s stay. Moreover, even the $240 compensation promised by the parties has still not actually been paid and, considering the overall situation, already appears more like mockery than an attempt to genuinely resolve the issue.

The place is perfect. Lots of restaurants and places to visit The price is not justifiable. They should definitely work on fixing their elevators. The staff is not clear. They tend to include in room service breakfast but they never serve it on time. The continental breakfast is a joke. They only serve juice and yogurt. No option for breakfast buffet (which a lot of restaurants does) plus they charge double destination tax fee

In fairness to the front desk staff and manager, after expressing discomfort about the condition of the room, a refund for the remaining nights was offered, however switching hotels with a busy work schedule was not realistic (so I decided to stick it through). I will look for better options at this price point next time in the city.

I’m a frequent traveler, and this is the first review I’ve ever written - because this is genuinely the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Customer service is nonexistent. We were forced to wait until after 4pm to check in despite more than 50 rooms being available, the front desk simply decided to make us wait simply because they could. I hold the highest status on Booking.com and was due an upgraded room; instead, they gave us one of the worst rooms in the property. When we finally got into the room, is was not clean and there was a human bodily fluid stain on the couch. The hotel manager did not promptly clean it and refused to move us to a clean room. We had to escalate this all the way up to Hyatt corporate before anyone would switch our room. On top of that, the hotel had no running water for over 12 hours. and not once did anyone apologize or even acknowledge the inconvenience. In fact, throughout this entire ordeal, the staff never used the word “sorry.” Not once. When we raised concerns, they actually threatened to kick us out of the hotel if we kept complaining. To top it all off, they charged us $260 in incidentals - despite zero damage to the room and no incidentals purchased/used. This is the meanest, most disrespectful hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Hyatt needs to conduct a serious audit of this property and its management.

The front desk & manager were very friendly & helpful during our check-in. Our room was a double queen which was extremely spacious including the oversized bathroom with a tub/shower combo & a stand alone shower. The only bad side, if any, was the size of the tv. It was too small for me to see from the bed. Besides that the room & lighting were perfect. We had breakfast downstairs & the menu was perfect along with the food & ervice. I will return.

Would have appreciated complimentary water as this wasn't provided and the mini bar was very expensive.

Lobby was really nice, check in was good, the room was okay. The bathroom had a super strong musty smell, and the room had some leftover trash from the previous guests in there which made me a little nervous about how clean things actually were in the rest of the room. We only stayed for one night, so not a huge deal. Would’ve been a bigger deal if we were staying longer I imagine.

The one real highlight is the restaurant on-site, it is genuinely wonderful. The food is excellent and definitely worth trying, although it is quite expensive. However, it was disappointing that the hotel could not assist with reservations. Even though the restaurant is located in the same building, it is apparently a separate business, and the staff made no effort to help or accommodate guests, which felt unwelcoming and unhelpful. Another major downside was the valet parking situation. If you are traveling by car, be prepared for very long wait times, we had to wait close to 50 minutes to get our car, which is extremely inconvenient. Overall, while the restaurant is a highlight, the hotel itself did not meet expectations in terms of service, value, or guest experience.

The location was great, the bed was very comfortable, and it was nice to be able to spread out. The room wasn't ready until 5:00, an hour past the check-in time. We wanted a quiet room but got one on the 6th floor that was right next to a vent on a roof next door that was always running. The heat for the whole building wasn't on the first night when we got back after dinner and it wasn't until 9:30 that it was comfortable in our bedroom. Then one of the toilets broke the next day and when they fixed it they took away the trash can in that bathroom--it felt like one thing after another. When we checked out and the person asked if everything was okay, I said no, and she apologized but with no eye contact. I just didn't feel that anyone cared. We had a great stay last time a few months ago, but this was terrible.

A couple odd downsides, one minor, one major: Minor: The front desk kindly acknowledges simple requests but there is no follow through: On three successive days, I asked the front desk to inform the maid service that our bathroom needed a refill on the bath gel dispenser. On three successive days the bath gel dispenser remained unfilled. Only on our 2nd to last day of the stay did I meet the maid and asked her to do so--and she did. On each day I asked the front desk to inform the maid to provided a full set of 4 towels for our family of 4. On each day we received 4 bath towels but only 2 hand towels and 2 washcloths. The maid told me--"We don't have enough hand towels and washcloths...". Major: On the last night of our stay. The hotel turned off water to all the rooms due to outside construction work. We were given no advanced notice. No running water. No toilet. Despite a lack of running water for a 12 or more hour period, we were charged a full rate for that day of our stay.

When I asked why they hadn’t told us earlier, they said they had no way to contact me since I booked through Expedia – despite the fact that they had my phone number and that I was staying in their hotel. We moved hotels because no water is gross (EWWW – high-rise full of people in New York not flushing their toilets or washing their hands and touching doors and elevator buttons). That wasted a bunch of a day in New York when I could’ve done it much more orderly with more notice. It felt like not telling people until that late was deliberate so they wouldn’t check out. I heard from multiple other travelers with similar frustrations with the communication and decision-making. So: Nice hotel, bad if something isn’t working. I don’t think I would stay again.

Not an amazing experience, but the room did what it was supposed to do for what I needed! Went to celebrate my birthday with another couple and got the one bedroom one pull out couch room. There were no pillows or blankets for the pull out couch and had to call front desk a few times before taking almost an hour to show up with them. Room was not the cleanest I’ve stayed in, but it was clean enough. Would probably stay somewhere else next time for the amount of money spent, because there are better experiences elsewhere, but I didn’t have a terrible stay!

Great location I have stayed here a few times and this is my second time in a row being kept up all night by raucous guests. I’m not sure if this property attracts a party crowd or what but I’ve never stayed anywhere within the few blocks of this hotel where I was kept up all night by loud guests. I’m not sure if the walls are too thin or what it is. But it was miserable, for the second time in a row.

Really nice hotel that is centrally located. Everything was clean, the staff were great, and the property was in very good condition. We would definitely stay here again. FYI, free coffee in the lobby until 11:00am. It’s drip coffee but really good drip coffee
- 4/5
The room was very small for the price. There wasn’t a desk, just a tiny table and a bed. The lobby, bar, and meeting rooms were spacious and well decorated, so it made the room feel pretty disappointing. My partner lost his passport so we looked for it all over the room, and the spaces behind the fridge and heater were extremely dusty and hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Overall, I had a decent time. The best part about the hotel is the beautiful location next to the Empire State.

The location is great and the staff was really friendly and helpful! The downside…I’ve lived in the city many years ago and know that the city can be loud at anytime of the day. However, it felt like we were sleeping with the window opened. It seemed that the window was cracked because we could feel the old air coming through and I could hear every peep from outside. That said, I would arrive to the hotel super exhausted and did not hear much noise because I would pass out from the day.

Let the hotel property know three times that there was an empty mini bar alcohol container when we checked into our room. We consumed nothing from the mini bar and were charged after we left. Poorly run Hyatt. Mostly unhelpful front desk workers. Housekeeping does the bare minimum. We rarely had our sheets changed on a 19 day stay.
- 1/5
We stayed at the hotel for medical treatment at NYU. Had to cut our hotel stay short from 21 days to 19 days but the hotel & Expedia could care less and charged us for the full 21 days. In addition, the hotel charged us for mini bar items we did not consume. Would not recommend the hotel Seville Nomad. Stay at the the Motto in Chelsea for a better guest experience.

- 4/5
The location of this hotel is great, and it feels quite nice going in. The lobby is beautiful. The furnishings are lovely and the staff was absolutely amazing for our whole stay. The resort fees are getting out of control in NYC, in my opinion. This hotel is no unusual case. The entry/stairs were just sometimes a bit crowded. And, of course, the room is really small which was fine overall but we really struggled to find spots to put luggage of any real size, so this is more for people traveling light.
- 5/5
This was a great find in the “NoMad” area of the city. It’s a beautiful old building and they’ve done a great job updating it and making it feel modern but cozy/boutique-y. Our room was clean and had some nice amenities. The restaurant had a good breakfast and they gave us a room credit upon checking that made it affordable. Either there was no one staying around/above/below us, or the walls are well sound-proofed. It’s only two blocks from Koreatown to the north, and an easy walk to other things our family was excited about, like the Harry potter store— easily the coolest store we’ve ever been to. Plenty of places to eat in the area, and Whole Foods is very nearby too. The hotel felt like a good deal given what other less-nice hotels in the area charge. Staff were all very nice and even let us check in early. We look forward to staying here again!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was truly unacceptable. On multiple occasions in the morning, hotel staff used a key card to enter my room without knocking or obtaining permission, while I was still inside. This didn’t happen just once — it happened more than once. Having someone enter your room unexpectedly while you’re inside is not just uncomfortable, it’s a serious violation of privacy and basic safety expectations. No guest should ever have to experience that. Additionally, I requested slippers from the front desk, and it took an entire day for them to be delivered. While the issue was eventually resolved and service improved later, the initial delay and lack of responsiveness were frustrating and disappointing. Privacy and prompt service are fundamental standards in hospitality. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet those standards. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves staff training, because no guest should feel unsafe or ignored during their stay.

But friendly staff very clean hotel but we were charged $200 fee from our deposit and told us the hotel is charging $200 because we booked through Expedia and would not explain why and just told us it’s because of Expedia and Expedia told us that they have no clue and the hotel took that money and that was a huge mess that never got fixed. So be warned YOU WILL BE CHARGED $200 just for booking.

The hotel was overpriced for what it had to offer. It felt as if they wanted to squeeze every penny out of me while providing the worst accommodations. The room was small and the toilet was right at the corner of the bathroom making it uncomfortable to use. The booking also showed valet parking was available for $80 a day but the valet person advised me that we would be charged for every time we use the valet service. They advised me of this after i had already used it twice. The elevators are too small to accommodate the large amounts of people getting to their rooms. There were long lines during peak hours. Only two of the three elevators worked. Lastly the "destination fee" is a bogus fee that should not be there in the first place. They had me pay nearly $300 in addition to what i had already paid.

Great location and hotel. Check in was easy and the front desk staff were helpful. Rooms are decent in size and super clean. Would definitely recommend the Seville to anyone looking at staying in NoMad 100%. I know I’ll be back!

Love this hotel and its location. The hotel lobby is also an added bonus. Great for catching up on work, meeting up with a friend, or just chilling.

It was a great location and the room was huge by NYC standards. Being able to get room service breakfast felt luxurious. The steps out in front were a little challenging with the storm door.

I asked the front desk to fix the sink, as my toddler would swish around the toothpaste-spit-water concoction pooling up. The engineer repaired it and decided to leave proof of his work by leaving the fistful of hair extracted from the plumbing and wadded up paper in the toilet. Maybe it was their verison of showing proof of life? Service was poor overall. I asked for extra slippers due to the cootie carpet, but fell asleep after an hour of waiting. The staff ignored the “do not disturb sign” and knocked on the door when we still had another night there.

Originally placed across from elevator we requested a room change and feel we were penalized. In the past we have been recognized as returning guest and treated with appreciation and recognition. Since change in ownership hotel has a different vibe not for the better. Front desk upon check was not responsive to concerns.( room placement and no water for 24 hours) We have been staying here since 2018. Management were made aware of disappointing stay and did provide a small discount. Will have to seriously think about staying at this hotel in the future.

From the live jazz in the lobby to the moments in between, the musical experience is flawless. When the band isn’t playing, even the curated streaming playlist feels perfectly chosen and elevates the atmosphere. The entire property has a gorgeous, cohesive ambiance. You can tell the team pays attention to every detail—even the tone and warmth of the staff’s voices contribute to the experience. Truly exceptional.

Room was okay, staff was fine but did not go out of their way to be friendly/helpful, the lobby was nice but the rooms were minimal and carpets seemed dirty. Location was good for most walking ventures in Midtown. Nice staff and cleaning crew. Sadly we had someone else’s left behind underwear under the bed frame, also a hair clip. How are these items missed? The evening “wine tasting” they advertise in the evening is a joke. Put out 1 bottle of red & white so when it’s gone, it’s gone. We never got a glass. Same for morning apples/oranges. The so called bar was open only 1 night of the 6 nights we were there and VERY expensive. So you had to go to the ever more expensive attached Scarpetto’s Italian restaurant and pay $30 for a glass. Luckily we found a cute Irish pub across the street. Just mediocre

The rooms are lovely, expecially if you upgrade to a deluxe room. The staff is superb. The neighborhood has a nice atmosphere , great coffee shops, Whole Foods a block away, and it allows easy access if you are in New York to see art: (quick bus or subway or cab to Chelsea, Soho, Midtown, Uptown.

Room carpet was clearly dated as well. Worst was the bathroom. I opened the door to it and it hit the toilet. I had to squeeze around to shut the door behind me. The major issue however was the full size, clearly uninsulated window in the shower stall which made the bathroom freezing unless the door was left open to get heat from the rest of the room. At a Hyatt? Come on. Don’t put your name on a tired hotel until it’s upgraded. I complained and got the “destination fee” removed but at checkout I had to have it removed again.
- 5/5
Everything was great but the hidden fees
- 3/5
The room was fine. It's New York, so it wasn't spacious -- basically just a bed and a chair. The bathroom is very tight -- we had to walk sideways between the sink and the door to get to the toilet. Also our sink didn't drain properly.
- 5/5
Good
- 4/5
The staff was over the top helpful and nice. Location is good. Decor is cool too. Little issue with light going on at 2am and windows thin… think street noise. Bring white noise machine. Beds and pillows comfy. Room clean. Nice touch with robe in room.

- 5/5
The room we had was fantastic. A very good size for staying in NYC, superb storage space and a nice bathroom. The hotel foyer is nice, modern and comfortable as well as the corridors. The cleaning staff were very good and made sure the room was great each day. The location of the hotel is ideal, close to 2/3 subway lines for travelling around the city. Would recommend the hotel most definitely.

- 5/5
Great location. Enjoyed the stay!
- 5/5
The location was incredibly convenient. It is a short walk to the subway and Penn Station, which made getting around the city very easy. Plus, the neighborhood felt surprisingly quiet and peaceful. My room was clean, comfortable, and well thought out, with amenities that made the stay feel effortless. The body wash and shampoo smelled absolutely heavenly. The minibar was also impressive. It was fully stocked with drinks, snacks, and useful extras like a phone charger and earbuds. The staff were consistently friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall positive experience. And since it is a Hyatt property, you can earn points during your stay. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
I would definitely stay here again. Rooms were a good size for New York. Staff was friendly and attentive. We had an issue with the light flashing but the staff came in quick to fix the issue, there also was a room near by with a dog that kept barking. Not sure if the staff could do anything about, but I wish we would give an option to move. The location was great with stores nearby, good food options and close enough for the subway. We would highly recommend this to anyone
- 5/5
This hotel is lovely!! Gorgeous lobby with a stunning view of the Empire State Building and the rooms are large and spacious, the staff super helpful and courteous. Good walkability in NYC. :).

Clean room, well decorated. Great location in NOMAD near plenty of restaurants and shopping.
- 5/5
Pillows. Bed. Sheets. Top quality.
- 5/5
Loved it
- 4/5
No help when we arrived to unload the car. We had to unload and go to reception leaving th car unattended. We had to ask 3 times throughout the day to receive a water kettle. We only got it in the evening after we came back and called for a 3rd time. Shower pressure was a joke with only a trickle of water. This was our 3rd time stay at this hotel and were disappointed in what is otherwise an excellent hotel

- 5/5
Great stay and location
- 5/5
We arrived very late and everyone was very nice. The room was clean. The only thing is I wish they told us a little more about what all the hotel has. Things that maybe included. This did not take away from out experience. I would stay here again if we would come back to NYC.
- 4/5

The staff was very helpful. The lobby is nice. The rooms are older and outdated. The elevator and other Hotel spaces can use some sprucing up and cleanliness.
- 4/5
The room was clean and staff pleasant and helpful
- 2/5
Very old hotel with very tiny bathroom and no luggage rack. Windows had view of brick wall and building 10 feet way. Fire alarm kept flashing every 2 minutes for most of the day even after repairman tried to fix it. The AC/heater clanked all night. Nice lobby though
- 5/5
Great hotel and location
- 5/5
Quick check-in, room clean , comfortable bed, staff very nice, over all😊
- 3/5
Pretty disappointing stay. The hotel has a nice lobby but the rooms are quite outdated and windows are not properly sealed. You can hear everything on the streets as if it’s happening inside the room. Had 4 nights pretty bad quality sleeps. Did ask to switch rooms after the first night which the hotel staff was happy to help with but unfortunately did not help much.
- 3/5
No help with bags. Stairs.

- 5/5
The Rooms a Little Small but very nice and cozy
- 5/5
Temperature was comfortable. Staff was very accommodating and responded to requests quickly.
- 2/5
We paid $900 a night for a suite. The couch literally had huge white body fluid stains on the couch!!! It also had burn holes all over. I talked to the manager who did not apologize or anything & sent a man up to spray clean the spots. Still nasty & then we ended up with a couch with burn holes and wet spots all over with burn holes. Then they put a sheet over that😱 The maid never did come make up the spare bed. No pillow case. Had to get sheets from the linen closet they left open. Definitely not worth the price. Jada was the best part of this hotel.
- 4/5
Staff was kind, lobby was great
- 4/5
Great hotel and room size was perfect for a NYC hotel…not too small!
- 5/5
We had a great stay. Comfortable room and bed and lovely staff. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
The Hotel Seville is comfortable, clean, and offers rooms that are larger than what you typically find at this price point. The bathrooms are also a decent size, and the shower is great.
- 5/5
Small room but I was by myself. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful! Definitely recommend!
- 5/5
Yeah the food was delicious and staff was very accommodating
- 5/5
The drawbacks were minor—no tea/ coffee in the room we had to ask for it specifically. On the whole a very good experience and good value for money in terms of comfort and cleanliness.
- 5/5
Safe, convenient, friendly staff, comfortable room
- 5/5

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Seville. The mattress and the shower were both exceptional. The staff members were friendly and helpful
- 4/5
Very pleasant stay, but irritated by 3 of these follow up emails asking about my stay.
- 2/5
Ask for do not disturb signage for 3 times, and still not available, staff is cold and not welcoming, room is extremely small, will not stay again…
- 5/5
Easy place to stay, near many attractions.
- 4/5
Valet parking was great. I would recommend this hotel, rooms clean and not cramped.
- 3/5
Description indicated hotel recently renovated but the carpet on our floor was in bad shape and curled . Room had only two usable outlets to charge batteries. Bed was comfortable. Coffee in am was provided but lids did not fit cups. Lastly never received silver benefits after trying several times between checkin and post checkout. Others mentioned similar issues when I was trying to resolve at desk so don’t plan on receiving either. To this day never heard back from email address the front desk told me to email at checkin about credit .
- 3/5
This is a very central/convenient location. The lobby was nice and staff were friendly. The rooms seem like they have been updated, however were not maintained well at all. The walls and doors in our room were VERY beat up. Beds were not made well, cleaning seemed like it was rushed, and there was a broken light in our room. Also lacked basic amenities in the rooms like luggage racks, there was nowhere to put suitcases other than the floor, and not enough outlets, there weren't outlets close to two of the nightstands. None of this is what I expected for spending almost $1k a night for our room.
- 3/5
otherwise, great location and friendly staff.
- 1/5
I felt completely scammed by this hotel. It was listed as a 4-star hotel but was more like a 2 or 3-star hotel. For over $600 a night you’d expect at least for the rooms to be clean and not wreak of disgusting smells. The first room we received smelled of gallons of cleaning products and the second of a hockey locker room but ultimately we chose the locker room because it was slightly bigger. The photos online were very deceiving so I’d do yourself a favor and steer clear.

Similar much of common parts.

The property was clean and everyone was helpful and friendly. There were no ice machines or microwaves. The fridge was full of overpriced snacks. The hotel was near Koreatown, a variety of restaurants, cafes, delis, and subway stops. It was loud until late at night on the weekends, but not as loud as it would be if the hotel was by Times Square. It is centrally located to make it a great location for a Manhattan trip. Unfortunately, didn't get to take advatange of the drink and snacktime in the early evening.

Love this hotel and have stayed many times
- 5/5
Amazing property. Staff went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of.
- 5/5
The location is PrimeTime!
- 5/5
Excellent service and amenities at the hotel
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, smells amazing and the staff was super attentive. The room was great but the only downside was the shower head. It’s cheap and flimsy with low pressure. Other than that, had a great stay!
- 4/5
The room is small but the bed was very comfortable
- 5/5
Nice hotel
- 5/5
elegant, but affordable. family friendly. personable staff. beautiful rooms
- 3/5
Property was dated and poorly maintained. Rooms were dirty. Shower water was brown.
- 4/5
Love the lobby, the run of the house room is very small, the upgraded is very nice.

Nice property
- 5/5
The Seville was convenient to everything we wanted to visit, but also not in the heart of Times Square, which was nice. It was quiet at night, clean, and the staff was absolutely wonderful. The only improvement was that the room, while very clean, felt very damp and probably needs to have the air conditioning left on or a dehumidifier.
- 4/5
I loved almost everything about this hotel. I plan to stay here again because it’s incredibly convenient, the staff is nice, and it’s overall a nice hotel. My only complaint is that I think they should review the condition of the shower curtains periodically. My bathroom had a very strong mildew smell that was really unpleasant when I used the bathroom and showered. But other than that, I left the door closed so that it wouldn’t really affect me the rest of the time.

Very nice hotel. Great location ion.
- 5/5
The ambiance of the hotel exceeded expectations. Our room was clean & spacious. Check in and check out was very easy and the staff were all friendly, courteous and helpful. Would definitely sty here again.

I stayed in a much nicer room last year.
- 5/5
Excellent location and great staff
- 5/5
Workers were kind and nice, and the location was close to everything too

They had added extra costs and the staff was rude and unhelpful
- 5/5
Nice NYC hotel and generally in very good shape except hall carpets. They are very stained & unraveling

This hotel is elegant, welcoming and perfect for families and pets. My kids love the opulent atmosphere. The staff is amazing. They are always kind and helpful. It’s my go-to place in the city, where comfort meets class. I can’t recommend it enough!

All good.
- 3/5
When we commented about our disappointment at the front desk, nothing was done or offered.
- 5/5
Great sized room. Tje staff were so friendly and the concierge was so attentive. A really great stay.
- 5/5
Great stay, clean and simple
- 5/5
Clean. Nice rooms.
- 5/5
V nice room for a family stay - we got the "king bed suite". Only complaint is the sofa bed was quite uncomfortable (compared to other sofa beds we have used). But the hotel is really nice otherwise.
- 4/5
Good location
- 3/5
Not great. Not bad. Rooms are spatious. Location food. Weird bar experience. Service was not good. And a bit lazy. Go elsewhere for a night cap.
- 5/5
Great location, spacious rooms, comfy bed, excellent amenities (raid the mini bar!), and good service. Everything I want in a boutique hotel on a business trip!
- 5/5
Had a wonderful stay. Room is small but all I needed. Ate at the restaurant and it was the best meal I have had a long time!
- 5/5
It was a great location. Clean. Very nice staff. And we had the best view of the Empire State building in our room.

The place

I’ve stated several times in the past few months. The gym equipment is poor and broken, despite being told it’s being fixed (back in November 2024). The soap bottles are broken in the shower, told housekeeping 2x, never changed or fixed.

Part of ceiling was falling Carpet was old and torn Staff were super

I really enjoyed this property. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of my corner room. Staff are super helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Really nice and clean
- 5/5
Gorgeous hotel with old NY charm.. love the hotel
- 5/5
I did my usual filtering - near Penn St., < $1,000,000 per night, guest rating > 9.... and this property appeared. And it was perfect.
- 3/5
I couldn't find a way to turn off the air conditioner. It was extremely loud overnight. There was no toothbrush. Since it's the first time I visited New York, I didn't know if providing toothbrush was forbidden by local laws. Besides, there was no shower towel on the last night.
- 5/5
Very good location . Will come back
- 5/5
Very clean. Nice staff. Small but very functional room.
- 5/5
Staff were very nice
- 2/5
Hot and humid day, expected proper AC in our room and it wasn’t working, asked for somebody to come and help fix it it felt like a sauna and the guy did not help at all and said there’s nothing he can do, our sheets on both beds had multiple strains on them it was gross, the carpets in the hallway we stained and loose the door locked itself and my hotel key did not work and stopped working multiple times over our 3 day stay overall would not recommend to stay here This place was un-clean, service was bad and the there’s is severe maintenance needed and no one is doing anything about it
- 5/5
Always stay in this hotel it’s fenomenal for my family and I love the service Hector it’s a very nice customer service through the years and Ricardo too he take care of my arrive this year. The area it’s nice too
- 4/5
While it's expected for most mid-tier hotels in New York, the rooms were tiny. Difficult to navigate even just with a small carry-on, we were opening our room door into the bag since we laid it on the floor. Also, the biggest issues we had were from the bathroom. The bathroom door didn't close all the way and the shower was not very leak-proof. I think I had higher expectations since I typically have very nice stays in any Hyatt hotel. The hotel was still nice since it was very walkable to the areas we were interested in visiting, but next time, I would pay for a better accommodation.
- 5/5
Great hotel in a great location. Much better than other similarly rated hotels we have stayed at in NYC. Would stay again.
- 3/5
I was billed an extra 50.00 a day as activity expense unaware of until check out. Also they charge me for drinks and extra food I did not have. I am disputing some of this now. From what I thought was a nice deal for a get away cost several hundred more. I am not to happy with this marketing and overbilling for things I did not purchase.
- 5/5
Great space and loved the boutique hotel vibe
- 5/5
Great Location, friendly staff, room was clean!
- 4/5
Great location, the hotel is modern, clean, and the staff is very friendly and helpfull. I recommend asking for a bedroom that does not face the street as the street noise (typicall of NYC) makes it hard to have a good night sleep...
- 4/5
Excellent location. Super friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms, comfy beds and pillows.
- 3/5
My sons slept on a sofa bed that was very stained and uncomfortable. You can actually feel the springs when lying down. The room was very outdated and infested with gnats. One son killed 16, he was counting, I gave up and so did my other son. Everyone at the hotel was very kind and professional though. I want to give a special shoutout to Amelia, the woman who cared/cleaned our room. She did an amazing job despite the condition of the room.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Lobby is beautiful. Doesn’t match the rooms which are fine but very simple and stark.
- 5/5
Great and easy
- 3/5
Kind of expensive for the room size
- 4/5
Overall, very nice stay until i was charged $125 to valet my car for each night?!?! This was never disclosed upon arrival and management skirted the issue. This is absolute price gauging
- 5/5
It is very nice hotel in a very good area with very good services
- 4/5
No upgrade not any hotel credit
- 1/5
No customer service. They don’t answer room service phones, and it’s very loud between rooms. Never returning.
- 5/5
I stayed here with 3 friends for a girls’ trip. This hotel exceeded our expectations. The price was fair, and our room was spacious, which is unusual for NYC. It was comfortable and pretty quiet as well. The window curtains blocked out light completely so the room could stay dark even in the daylight. Staff was friendly and the bar area downstairs was so nice. Highly recommend this place!
- 5/5
Everything from the staff to our room upgrade was wonderful! Room/ bathroom were spacious and very clean. We unexpectedly were able to check-in early which was really nice. Both check-in and check-out were a breeze. I highly recommend to others to book here. I will certainly return to this property for future trips.
- 5/5
The hotel was great but they overcharged me almost $500 and am still waiting for a refund.
- 5/5
Awesome stay as usual. I wish the windows were better which would lead to a quieter stay, but otherwise, staff was great as usual - especially front desk - and went over and beyond for our stay. Thank you so much

Great location and comfortable stay!

Great location
- 5/5
Good location. Service is friendly.
- 5/5
Everything about our stay was great. We stayed 4 nights and 3 days. The outside traffic was noisy in the mornings mostly but that’s not the fault of the hotel. That the hustle and bustle of the city. We chose a suite with a view of the Empire State Building and it exceeded our expectations. The only recommendation I have is to make sure to check out in person. We almost had a valet charged to our room that was not ours, however it was a very easy fix at checkout. All in all great place to stay and would stay again.
- 2/5
Did not receive the caliber of room I paid for. Room was so tiny one almost hit the bed when opening the door. This is a very tired and shabby hotel
- 4/5
Great hotel and location.
- 5/5
I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The lobby is beautiful and the staff are super attentive. The rooms were the most surprising; they are huge by NY City standards. Our deluxe queen bed room was very spacious with plenty of room to move around and not trip over our things. The bathroom had both a shower and a tub/shower combo and a gorgeous marble sink. This was the ideal setup for 3 girls on a weekend getaway. Although we didn’t have the chance to eat at Scarpetta this time, it’s long been a favorite of mine. The lobby bar was really cute and very busy. They offer coffee and tea complimentary every morning which is also a nice touch. My ONLY complaint was that they had a name change from The James to Seville and we weren’t notified. We had trouble finding the property as a result and the front desk was a bit chaotic adjusting to the new check in system. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay and I would definitely stay there again.
- 2/5
On the plus side the staff is very friendly and the location is great!
- 3/5
Unfortunately check-in was a disaster. I was staying in the city for work and I understand when an early check-in isn’t available but when it’s 430pm I’ve been working all day and now I’m still unable to get a room to get cleaned up before a work event that going to go until the late night. Very unfortunate. I wish the hotel contacted us prior to arrival or how about a voucher to make up for the inconvenience. Bed and bathroom was comfortable, only a frosted window with no view of the outside.. but it didn’t really matter since I barely had any time in the room
- 4/5
We had a great stay. My only negative would be I have reached out to accounting both by email and phone to get a copy of my folio for over a week and nothing still. Feel I was overcharged for some items.

My room feels like it’s trembling from music at 12am and does not seem like it’s stopping. Hotel should put guest on top floors that are not partying to avoid this situation.

Excellent hotel

Location is great—one of the best in the city.
- 5/5
Good location, comfy bed, good sized room
- 5/5
Great rooms and lobby ambiance! Super convenient area.
- 4/5
We did get moved to a 7th floor room which was much better and bigger but it did face Madison Ave and 28th St. The problem then was the room is not sound proof, so every night around midnight you are awoken by the garbage truck making a racket while picking up all the garbage in the metal dumpsters; interspersed with car horns and EMS sirens...I guess the typical sights and sounds of NYC. Apart from these things it is well located within 5-10 min walk to subway, food stores, shopping. We loved the decor, the bed was very comfortable, quiet room AC/heater, nice touches like a vanity kit , slippers and umbrella.
- 2/5
Lois even on 9th floor. Both from outside and from hallway, loud personnel very early 6am
- 5/5
Great Experience!
- 4/5
Good location, staff was super nice, can’t say enough about them. Nice area, a little noisy in the morning but it’s the city what can you expect lol.

Great hotel. Room had charm and lots of windows. The staff was lovely. Free wine at 5 and coffee in the AM
