    We had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms were neat, clean, and well maintained. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast, bottled water, cookies, and beer during specific hours, which was a nice bonus. Its location is excellent—just a short walk from Penn Station, Moynihan Train Hall, and Madison Square Garden. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly, and attentive throughout my stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

    During our stay, we received texts from the staff asking about how our stay was going and whether the staff could do anything more for us. That has not happened in our other hotel stays, and certainly not in a moderately priced chain hotel like the Holiday Inn Express. Breakfast was free and contained the usual offerings, but a cut above in variety. The location on 29th between 7th and 8th Ave was perfect for walking to nearby restaurants.

    Paid extra for high floor, but it’s a very short building so the high room was of no benefit. Dirty used cup in my bathroom. When we got to room to check in door was propped open with a sheet. Found housekeeping on the floor and asked if room was ready and told her about sheet. She said room was ready and said something about towels and grabbed sheet and left. Hallways smelled musty. Rooms are tiny.

    The rooms are much nicer than the lobby. Staff was exceptional. Breakfast one of the days was really, really good. You can borrow a bike and helmet from the front desk. Really great area to explore. I would stay here again.

    The room was quiet and clean. The hotel had booked us for two rooms instead of one and have repeatedly balked at refunding the second room. We had a second reservation one week later and when we arrived were told the reservation had been canceled and they had no room available. We were turned out into the street with luggage at 11:30 at night. There was no assistance offered to help us find a room elsewhere. To note, we are 80 years old.

    This hotel exceeded all our expectations. Room was actually larger than we expected, very clean, quiet, staff very friendly and accommodating, breakfast a cut above the typical hotel breakfast, linens and beds nice and comfortable, good location for accessing the subway and trains, nice blackout curtains in room, fast elevators, and facility fresh and well cared for. Needed a bathmat and more counter or shelf space in the bathroom to hold toiletry bags.

    The location is exceptional, super close to Penn Station/Madison Square Garden. The street is quiet tho not much noise which was good. Breakfast was not very good even by american standards, but the coffee/tea being available always was appreciated. Overall it was a decent stay, main plus was the location. No iron, no fridge, no hairdryer in the room. Had to ask front desk for the dryer, they brought it immediately which was nice. Breakfast

    The room is small but very clean, the hotel is on a side street,so it is not very loud at night,like other hotels that I've stayed at in NYC. The hotel is in a good location ,and pretty close to the subway. The staff are all helpful and friendly. I loved the free breakfast,there was a lot to choose from and different things every morning. I also loved the free coffee ,cookies, water and wine! I would stay here again.

    I really liked the location of the hotel and the complimentary coffee and cookies. We had to ask for basic necessities like towels because housekeeping forgot to to replace them. First night our blow dryer was working but hk replaced it with a broken one so we had to ask for the old one back.

    Parking is not free as advertise. Water is extremely hot. Be careful. The hotel ran out of washcloths and towels because of that they gave us an extra hour to check out. Besides all of that, everything else was pretty much good. Food was good. The cleaning staff was great. The front desk guy hung outside most of the time.

    Free breakfast options and coffee, good enough for the price you pay for in NYC. Staff are extremely fast at putting out new food out. The room is spacious enough for NYC and is newly renovated so it felt very clean. It has mostly everything I need. The Bathroom is very well lit and equiped. There’s Dove shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and hand wash body lotion provided. Free wine and cookies around 4pm, fantastic for a quick chill. The manager who gives out the wine is fantastic and enthusiastic about the wine he gives out. Staff at front desk are super helpful and friendly. Location is good, fairly close and only a short walk away from Chelsea Market and the high line. A lot of affordable food options around. Subway, penn station and Amtrak only a few minutes walk away. Walls are thin in the room so can hear bathroom noise next door and people talking in corridor. Breakfast area a bit cramped but manageable. Area towards the 8th avenue is a bit sketchy. Shower in room 709 does not work properly ie diverter was only working 50% so shower doesn’t have enough pressure.

    Great Hotel- newly renovated with lovely rooms. Breakfast was really great with lots of options. They also have free coffee around the clock, as well as free cookies and wine from 4 to 5 pm. The staff were super nice and friendly. Location was close to trains and very walkable to restaurants and parks. Will definitely stay again!

    Location Very disappointing experience. The room was extremely small and uncomfortable. The hotel relies on only one elevator to serve 15 floors, which resulted in long waiting times throughout the day. The breakfast was very poor, with very limited options and low quality. The overall hotel services were far below expectations. In addition, there was no telephone in the room, even though it was listed among the room amenities and services. This made it difficult to contact the front desk when assistance was needed. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel due to its poor facilities, inadequate services, and misleading room information.

    I would def recommend the Holiday Inn Express in Chelsea. The property is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a great central location to explore from. We were in NYC two days. Day One we ubered from the hotel to Central Park and worked our way back to the hotel, walking to all the main tourist sites. Day Two we walked from the hotel to The Battery (took Staten Island Ferry to see Statue of Liberty) and back to Chelsea through the Chelsea Market and the High Line. Somewhere around 10 miles of walking total, but we had a great hotel to relax in at the end of the day. As other reviewers have said, breakfast at the hotel is a zoo but at least it's there. An elevator was broken so we walked down from the top floor. Things happen, so be patient and kind to the people at the front desk and enjoy NYC.

    I had a wonderful experience here. The room was exceptionally clean, and the bathroom was bright, nice, and spotless. The big downfall of this hotel was lack of communication. Despite sending several messages via Booking.     I booked a high floor, king, w/jetted tub. I received a basement floor and a broken tub. Went to take a bath and the jetted tub was broken. The bath was filled with black junk indicating it had been broken for a while. There was NO smoke detector. I had to request one be installed. My room was across from the employee break room which they held the door open with a rag. I heard every cackle, it was like a party was going on every morning. It interrupted my sleep. Furthermore, I requested a late check out, got denied and charged anyway, for the denied late check out. I tried to get compensation for the BREACH OF CONTRACT for paying for a room I didn’t receive. I just wanted the difference between what I paid and what I received. They compensated me 37% and then ignored me. A supervisor at Hotel.com managed to get an additional 14% returned to me. This management team stands behind corporate greed.

    Good location. Room was clean, staff were friendly. We enjoyed the free wine hour. No fridge in the rooms though. Worst elevator ever. I was on the 15th floor and would go up and down, depending on who else was getting on or off. No rhyme or reason to it. Even though it was included, I did not get the continental breakfast. Small sitting area was packed. Not very accommodating.

    The lobby is very small and breakfast time is packed. There's often not any room to sit during breakfast except outside so if it's cold you're out of luck unless you want to bring the breakfast back up to your room. Lobby was pretty dirty as well. You can absolutely get better for your money in the city. I would not recommend, I've had much better experiences with other hotels in the city. Window was also broken to where it opened fully past a safe opening. We were on the 11th floor and thankfully we didn't have any kids with us or there could have been a terrible accident. I think if this property started paying more attention to detail it could be a much better experience. 5/10. Would not recommend.

    Lots of banging road noise in the middle of 2 nights. One elevator broke one evening/next morning which was a nightmare with everyone trying to get down for breakfast and back up to their rooms. We ended up having to take stairs from 8th floor and when we did manage to catch an elevator it was packed way beyond capacity. Breakfast area is way too small with not enough tables and very little space to maneuver around and it was extremely crowded each morning. Hotel room itself was very clean and comfortable and staff was very friendly.

    Breakfast considted of French Toast, sausages, patties, hash browns, bagels, cinnamon buns etc. Free wine between 4-5pm. Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels with aircon. Staff very in-offensive. Fab quiet location with Times Square a 15min walk. Would highly recommend.

    The hotel is a great location for everything we wanted to do. The room was clean and provided a place to relax when we took a break. Would have liked a small refrigerator to keep our drinks cold to drink later in the day. Overall it is a great hotel and we will stay again.

    My family had the best experience. Everything was amazing. Hotel staff were so helpful and friendly. It was very clean. Modern rooms. Complementary wine hour everyday. Free water bottles. Breakfast buffets was delicious and hot and they refill everything until the end. Great location with good food places on every corner. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone and I will be booking my stay here next time I’m back in NYC.

    What lets the hotel down, is the breakfast. What a shambles!! Basically scrapping for a table that was filthy, no room to move with the plastic plate & cold food. We tried breakfast at varying times and same everyday, queues for the lifts too (we stayed on 15th floor so too far to walk). Staff: everyone we spoke to was very friendly & helpful, they are a credit to the hotel.

    The property is going through a remodel which means one of the elevators was being used only for construction workers and equipment. Even when it was in use, both elevators were incredibly slow. I’m not sure why. The last full day I was there housekeeping never came and cleaned the room. I left around 9:30 a.m. and came back for about an hour before leaving again. Very disappointing. I told the front desk clerk about it when I checked out and she didn’t say anything.

    There was a lot of construction happening within the halls so the place was kind of a mess. There were only 2 elevators so it took a long time to get up and down and they moved very slow. The door handle to our bathroom also was not on there securely and kept falling off. I'm sure we were just there during a transition period but it was not very nice.

    The hotel is clean, the staff pleasant, and the location was very convenient. However, the handicapped bathroom was functionally inadequate. There was a standard bathtub, nothing to sit on if you wanted to shower. However, there were grab bars placed so you could conceivably take a bath.

Said we were smoking in the room which we were not charged us $350.00 and kicked us out so we had to leave the hotel the night before our flight. My husband smokes but he would go and smoke outside of the hotel. They said it happened at a time when we were not even in the room and would not check the cameras to show that we were telling the truth. So we lost $350.00 for the smoke detection plus a nights stay and we had to pay $300.00 at another hotel to have somewhere to sleep for the night. It was my husband’s 50th birthday. Made for a bad experience

    The breakfast was pretty bad with only a few options available. Most mornings we went elsewhere for a bagel, so no biggie. I liked that coffee was available from the machine 24/7. Whilst we were there a guest was placed in the next room with a big dog, which would bark loudly when the owner wasn't there. This was a concern for us, not only for the noise but for the dog's welfare. After we complained the hotel did offer us two different rooms, but there were issues with both of the rooms on offer (broken thermostat or no natural light). So we stayed put and hoped for the best. Our friends, who were staying 2 floors up, could also hear the dog.

    This property although expensive was right in the area where I needed to be. Walking distance to Penn station, and Time Square. The room was small but we were hardly there. The room was clean and quiet, breakfast was plentiful and hot. I have no complaints about my stay. I would definitely stay here again.

    The hotel is very busy and near Times Square and access to trains. The staff was very pleasant, their breakfast was basic cereal, bagels, eggs and bacon, toast. The 2 queen bedroom was very tight, expected in NYC l guess. The bathroom was decent and clean. The hotel was kept very clean. Overall l would recommend staying at this place

    This is the WORSE hotel I've ever stayed in my entire life. They gave me a room in the basement. There was no insulation at all and the heaters run all night long. They are super loud. ON TOP OF that they charge an absurd amount for some made up RESORT FEE on top of the standard rate.. it's a total scam. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! STAY AWAY

    Everything was on spot. Just as expected, it was clean, the breakfast generous, the lobby staff was helpful. I was there the week before Thanksgiving so probably that explains the high rates, which is the reason I don't give it a 5 star rating. This is clearly a budget option but it was priced at twice the expected rate.

    I booked an accessible room that ended up not being accessible at all. Upon arriving in my hotel room, the buttons for the privacy shade in the window didn't work. Come to find out - there was no privacy shade. It had been removed. They had to come install it. Next, I found out that there was no shower head in my bathroom. This was baffling. I spent all night calling the front desk, they sent someone else to look at it, the engineer said he'd be back with a spare part and never returned. This was at this point 11:30pm. I then went out to the front desk to talk to them as they were no longer answering the phone. It was someone new - they had switched shifts. The engineers had gone home for the day too and no one told anyone what was going on. Its not midnight. Luckily she was able to find another room, though not accessbile, to move me to in the lower level of the hotel. It was not very clean, had stains on chairs, the TV didn't work, and there wasn't a phone in the room to call upstairs. All in all this was a nightmare of an experience and I won't be back.

    Accommodating service from front desk staff. They’re quick with any request we had for the room and helpful with any questions. It’s in a great location in Chelsea, close to MSG and restaurants. We stayed for 5 nights and would recommend. My only complaint would be the thin walls and outside noise at night. Overall, great service and hospitality.

    This is a great hotel for New York. The rooms are small as to be expected, and the price tag way overboard, again, to be expected. But the rooms were clean, they did daily housekeeping, and they had some great perks. They serve free wine from 4-5pm and they have cookies in the lobby about that same time until they’re gone. The breakfast was wonderful. They kept everything stocked and had a variety of warm and cold options. They had different fruit each day. Overall, the only complaint is the price. I would normally pay that price at a 4 star hotel.

    The hotel staff was very helpful from when we got there till the end! We didn't get the chance to get breakfast, but just from the smell, it smelled good. Including the housekeeping, they made sure the clean the room, but also left our stuff alone, which made the stay feel safe. Overall, the staff and hotel were very good, definitely would stay again!

    I was enjoying the hotel very much until $350 was charged to my debit card for “vaping” in my room. No one told me about this rule. The signs say no smoking. Vapes don’t have smoke or damage property. I figured once i told the manager i didn’t know it was a rule, he would remove the astronomical charge as it left me with a few dollars in my account. He would not. I contacted the upper hotel management and they also refused to help also. Never again will i stay at a holiday inn. They ruined our trip with this ridiculousness and I’m furious.

    Unhappy with the process our reservation was not held. We opted to pay at property and when we arrived they said they tried to charge the card using for booking. We know that’s not true since no charge was declined on card. We also don’t understand how pay at location changes to charging a few days later -riot to check in. No call and email. So a 3 week in advance booking now turns into let’s find a hotel last minute. Very unprofessional and rude reception. Never again to stay here specially for the price they were asking.

    I do want to mention the staff was very friendly and helpful. You can also tell they are trying their best (cleaning etc.) but unfortunately the hotel is not in good condition. Our room had a persistent foul smell, mild enough to sleep through but noticeable. There were also several bugs in our room, likely attracted by the smell... The room was also very small. The hotel is in a very convenient location but we ran into several homeless people that were high and/or drunk out of their minds on several occasions right outside the hotel. The street is somewhat dark, so maybe that’s why we saw more of that there? Not the worst hotel experience but would not want to stay there again unless I had to.

    The only thing we did not like was the homeless people that came at night and slept on the seating that is outside the enteance amd meant for guests. This made us feel unsafe. We were approached by these people and aaked for cigarettes and change. There was a security guard present on our first night but he stayed inside the main entrance area and left the building at around 4 am. I struggle to sleep and came down for some air just before he left. The homeless persons stayed until well after 8 am and returned each night to the seating area. For this reason I wouldnt book another stay if i came back to newyork.

    Breakfast was good enough lm vegetarian and was able to find something for myself every morning. The issue that was not nice is that when l booked online with Expedia I paid for everything and thought that was it but when we arrived we had to paid extra $130 us for destination fee, $30 a day! Which l find as a money grab and not being transparent!! Then you have no choice and you have to shell it out. For that reason l would not book a property like that again - good we had money to pay it!

    What a bang for your buck! We had 2 rooms with 3 in each and it was great! The rooms were updated and nice! All NYC hotel rooms are small but this was larger than I expected. The continental breakfast was a great unexpected amenity along with the free wine happy hour! Everything was clean and the rooms were so quiet! Wish we had time to ride the bikes they have. The staff were friendly and helpful! Will be staying again!

    The hotel is in an awesome location if you want to be close to Madison Square Garden or Times Square. I went to the Lady Gaga concert and walked by myself to and from the show with no problem at all. The free hot breakfast was also a nice perk and not bad. The only thing is the room with 2 beds was very tight and smaller than we had thought it would be. There was 4 of us and you had to take turns walking around. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. It was fine for 2 nights and we didn’t spend much time in the room anyway!

    I will said, if you want to use the hotel for just shower and sleep this is a great hotel , the staff is OK, I didn’t interacted with them much. The are small rooms the bathroom shower curtain need to be change and wash with bleach, smell moldy, the floor looks dirty never being mop probably. As much they use bleach in the lobby they should clean bathroom the same way . The hotel is in a great location , penn station is 2 block away, is quite at night. Overall is a ok getaway hotel .     Everything about the hotel was good the staff friendly the breakfast was good fresh hot and clean lobby the rooms were good and clean as well just small which it lets you know ahead of time overall it is a good hotel to stay at other than the area is a somewhat unsafe .

    It was exactly as expected. A clean and safe no frills hotel that was central to our sightseeing needs. Staff always cleaning and restocking breakfast buffet etc. would recommend to any one doing a similar trip

    We arrived slightly early and Anne, who checked us in, was extremely friendly and accommodating and worked it out to get us checking in without having to wait. They offered cold waters at check in which was great, and the room was very clean and super comfortable beds. The free breakfast in the morning is wonderful to have and this location is excellent for the price. It’s walkable to the Moynihan train station and right in the middle of everything. Perfect stay. Thanks!

    This was a great property to stay at. It was located very close to Madison Square Garden, but was very quiet. 2 items to be aware of. We had a King bed room, there was no refrigerator. Additionally, they had Dove products in the bathroom that were secured to the wall so we didn't have to bring our own for our short visit. Will stay there again.

    This hotel is conveniently located near most city attractions, which made getting around easy. The rooms are recently renovated and kept clean, though they are quite small and feel a bit cramped like many other hotels in NYC. Breakfast had a good variety, but the dining area gets crowded and you may need to wait a bit or share space to find a table. We stayed for four nights and overall had a good experience. The staff was generally friendly and attentive. All in all, a good experience overall.

    I stayed here for a Saturday and not only was someone else's belongings left in the closet of my room but the room itself was kinda dirty. The bathroom clearly wasn't cleaned thoroughly. In fact I booked a room with a jetted tub in hopes I can use it and I was unable to do so.

    This neighborhood is convenient to everything! The rooms are clean and functional. A basic breakfast Is included, but it is a crowd scene. Take advantage of the complimentary bicycles to ride the greenways and Central Park.

    It was frustrating really because we had to sit outside the majority of the time as the dining area gets really packed but didnt bother us at all as we like to be outdoors. The hotel is in great walking distance to Madison square garden and Times Square but away from all crowds .What i liked as well was Tea and coffee on hand day and night which i thought was a lovely gesture. Would definitely stay here again
