Reviews
The hotel has a great location and friendly staff, but guests frequently complain about the ongoing construction and limited elevator availability. The rooms are generally clean and comfortable, but some guests have issues with the cleaning service and the size of the bathrooms.

This is my first time staying here since their remodel. I stayed here prior and when I was checking out the staff member recognized me by name and it was so cute! I love the look and feel of the remodel. The rooms were chic and beds were comfy. I also loved the glass shower. The staff were amazing from check-in to check-out. The complimentary coffee with flavored creamers.. warmed my heart! It was an enjoyable safe stay. I would definitely stay here alone because you need a card to access the elevator/floors. LOVE IT! the rooms are small but hey, that is the beauty of being in NY.

In a great neighborhood with a clean room. Toilet roll holder was coming out of the wall, the shower door didn’t close on its own, and the bathroom layout made it hard to have more than one person in there. But overall, it was okay

We’ve stayed here previously and were very pleased. This time however the room we had was not as clean. The floor was noticeably dirtier than our previous room. But the staff is very nice and the location of the hotel is unbeatable for the price.

Staff was very helpful. Good location, close to subway. There was no storage in the bathroom. No place to put toiletries. A simple shelf would be a great deal!

The location was fantastic. Being so close to Times Square and all the fresh flowers was a plus. We were on the 12th floor so we had a great view. The room was big enough for the 3 of us to be comfortable. I would recommend and stay again. Just having to request extra towels for the number of guest in the room.

Location, staff and rooms were excellent. Location was excellent. Really couldn't fault it and very reasonable There was 3 people in the room and every day we had to ask for another set of towels I don't know why it was so difficult to leave another set. It was very minor in grand scheme of things but I see other people had same issues so not sure why it keeps happening

Good basic hotel in a great central location on 28th Street - good for many of the main sights in New York with the subway nearby too. The room was compact but the beds and pillows were comfortable. There is a small gym with good equipment. We spent most of our days visiting NYC but it was a good hotel to come back to each night.
- 3/5
Couldn’t sleep the next door neighbor would let the door slam all night every time he would go out the door called the front desk and they couldn’t hear me on the phone … maintenance guy came and swapped phone and same issues … also the courtyard out front since smoking marijuana is legal out in public in the city … kids sit in the tables and smoke all day it’s miserable….

The hotel is in a great location, with easy access to local attractions and public transport. The bed was very comfortable and provided an excellent night’s sleep. Staff were friendly, professional, and attentive, making check-in and any requests smooth. The rooms and common areas were spotless and well-maintained. Overall, highly recommended for travelers seeking convenience, comfort, and cleanliness. Recommend requesting a higher floor or room to the back of hotel. Early morning street noise can be heard.

On the positive side, the staff were friendly and welcoming, the location was great and the room service was acceptable, nothing exceptional, but it met basic expectations. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was noise. The guests in the room next to ours returned every night around 3–4 AM and were talking, singing, and partying very loudly. This woke us up every single night and significantly affected our stay. We reported the issue to reception after the first night, but no effective action was taken to resolve it. One important detail to be aware of: although we booked a private king room, there was a connecting door between our room and the neighboring room. This made the noise problem much worse. This feature was not clearly mentioned in the room description, and we were not informed in advance. Because of this, I strongly recommend confirming whether your room has a connecting door if you are sensitive to noise. Overall, despite the friendly staff, the unresolved noise issue made our stay frustrating and disappointing.

View from the room was good, free street parking on the weekend, spacious room, coffee maker in room, shower was nice, bed comfortable. No extra blanket in the room. The comforter was just a thin cotton. Pillows on couch were gross. Staff at check-in was mentally unwell and aggressive. Cleaning staff knocked on door early morning to clean before we checked out. Very noisy. Someone was vaccuming before 8am. You can hear toilets flush from other rooms. We stayed on the 15th floor and you can hear street noise clearly. Windows are not soundproof. Blackout blinds are missing about 6 inches between 2 windows making it very bright in the morning.

I had a great stay at the Cambria Hotel. The room was very clean, quiet, and spacious, making it easy to relax. The hotel’s location was excellent and convenient, and the price felt fair for the quality. Check-in and check-out were quick and hassle-free. I would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
There was a lot of sketchy people hanging out in front of the property utilizing their tables and concrete barriers. My room had a Band-Aid on the peephole, it had one travel sized lotion in the bathroom that was half utilized, and the drawers had debris from price tags. My sofa had a stain on it. It was in a beautiful neighborhood, but it is definitely an aged property with not the cleanest environment nor anything special with respect to amenities.
- 2/5
Tired property - housecleaning did not remove trash from the hallway my entire stay. Restaurants misrepresented. Rooms were not renovated. Front desk staff inconsistent - check in was great. Solid location for NYC.

If you’re looking for a hotel with the best location this is it. Close to everything such as shuttle drop off from airport and subway lines. Our room was not facing the street and it was extremely quiet. Never had to wait for the elevator. Kind and helpful staff always available.

I researched the hotels in the area and decided on this one. It was a great choice such a great location and walking distance to so many things. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. We had a great room. It was a nice size for two of us. Beds were very comfortable. Would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the Chelsea area.

I’ve been here twice as I travel a lot for work. The rooms are big and the area and front desk staff are wonderful. However, I’ve never witnessed a more bizarre cleaning service. I’m serious. Coffee pods but no cups, cups but no coffee, trash not thrown away but moved. One day I came home to one large towel and 6 washcloths. I honestly thought I was being punked. My final straw was I intentionally left the sugar from coffee on the area around the coffee maker for 3 days and no one wiped it up. I finally switched hotels and went to the Kixby (which was cheaper and amazing). It’s too bad because the front desk team is fantastic.
- 3/5
Staff were fine. The room was clean but had the worst bathroom design I’ve ever experienced in a hotel - there was no countertop and the toilet was so close to the door I had to shimmy between the toilet & the door to be able to close it. It felt like a broom closet was later turned into a bathroom.
- 5/5
Updated rooms are well laid out and feel slightly more spacious than competing nearby hotels.
- 4/5
Room wasn’t necessarily bad and could’ve been worse but the shower shelf was falling off, the window for the city view was broken, the cabinet where the fridge goes was barely hanging on, you could hear normal conversations from the rooms next door so l

The hotel is clean, comfortable, and very well located, but what truly made my experience special was the hospitality. A big thank you to Johnathan and Chelsea for taking such great care of me. They were extremely helpful, kind, and professional, and they made sure I was given a really nice room. From check-in to my stay, everything felt smooth and welcoming because of them. Their attention, warmth, and dedication to guest comfort truly reflect the high standards of this hotel. I genuinely felt valued and well looked after. Stayed at the Cambria for 5 days for NYE. Check-in was easy, the elevators are clean and quick. We stayed in an accessible room. It was really nice. Bed was comfortable, pillows were perfect. The only issue we would complain about was the shower. The shower curtain didn't get close enough to the floor to keep water from going everywhere. We showered carefully and close to the corner. The water got all over the floor, all the way to the sink on the other side of the bathroom, and even outside of the bathroom from under the door. We had to get new towels every single day because the ones we had would be soaked from cleaning up all of the water. Aside from that, it was a great stay and we may stay there again if we come up for NYE 2026.

They only left 3 towels for 4 of us. I called down to housekeeping - nobody answered. I called front desk, he said he would tell houskeeping right away. An hour passed, and nothing came. We called down to the front desk again - he was very rude and dismissive and said we called "10 minutes ago" (we didn't). He said to come down to the front desk if we REALLY needed it. The next day they came at 9:00 and woke us up. We all left the room, went out for an hour, came back, and they still had not cleaned the room, even after us leaving and telling them we were leaving. Similar to the next day - we went out all day and came back after 4 and the room was still not ready - had to leave and wait for them to finish. Very frustrating. I asked for a quiet room, and was placed right by an ice machine that people used all throughout the night. New Years Eve, my kids wanted to watch the ball drop on TV - the TV just stopped working at night and we were left with nothing to do. Apparently it is a common issue with the TV type. There is no way to warm the shower up before getting in - the handle is at the far end of the shower with no way to move the handle beforehand. This was an expensive stay - we used Choice Points and tacked on another stay through Hotels.com. We expected far more.

I stayed at the Cambria Hotel Chelsea and unfortunately had a bad experience. The hotel room was dirty, with surfaces covered with dust and the in-room couch having a large stain on it. What's worse is that I accidentally left an article of clothing when I left and called later to have them check to see if it had been found by housekeeping. They told me to call back as housekeeping had left, but they would make a report. After calling back the next day I was told they would look into it and give me a call. After a day with no call, I called back and a woman told me she would personally look into it and call me back within 30-60min. She never called back. I called again the next day and the man who answered the phone was extremely rude and told me that if I hadn't heard anything by now, then the article of clothing was "gone". I called Choice Hotels customer service and the woman on the phone told me NO report had ever been filed regarding the lost property, despite Cambria staff telling me one had been filed. She then gave me the Hotel Manager's email to reach out for a resolution and he never replied. I get leaving an item is not the fault of the property, but the way the staff acted towards the situation is downright shady and poor customer service. I will avoid Choice Hotels in the future and if you are looking for a clean, honest hotel to stay at, I'd suggest you avoid this one.

My room was comfortable, the bed good and the AC worked well. The latter is often an issue for me as I like a cool room to sleep. It was quiet for the most part, except the doors of the other rooms tend to slam shut with a bang. I wish they served breakfast, but there are good options near by. I would stay there again.

Area outside is the flower district and the subway is within 1-2 blocks so it worked out perfect. My only complaint, and it’s at alot of hotels, minimal accessible plugs in the room and the main one has 3 loose outlets that’s it doesn’t work. This is the one right by the bed. Also the phone is the room takes away from the room being so clean. The dated phones look gross/dirty although they may be clean. We would stay in this area and hotel again.

Couldn't really fault this place for a quick overnight stay: room was spacious for NYC, nice brew coffee in room, great location close to Penn Station and 28th for the red line. They kept the luggage the next day so we could explore the city. The bathroom a little on the small side, walk in shower, toiletries provided. I personally slept fine but my husband found the traffic noise too loud (horns beeping late in night and early next day).

A great hotel that is ideally situated to explore New York from. We loved walking down the street through the wholesale flower shops in the early morning. I liked that breakfast wasn't included so you could explore your own options. The rooftop bar was a great to watch the sun go down on the city, but as with all of New York, it was expensive.

Great hotel in a perfect location for a weekend getaway. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Only critic would be size of the bathroom where you can barely open or close the door if you’re inside.
- 4/5
Hotel is well located near transportation and walking distance to restaurants, shopping and cultural activities. Room felt nice and clean- the bathroom was small and toilet cover was loose, which was annoying but other than that it was a pretty good place to stay

👎: extremely small sink with an off-centered faucet & flat basin ledge so water constantly dripped onto the floor when washing up. Bed was comfortable but the bedding could be upgraded - pillows were a bit flat and hard, sheets were fine but only had a single regular type blanket.
- 5/5
Great location, close to MSG, rooms are small (to be expected in the city) but very nice, comfortable beds & pillows. Pleasant staff.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and super walkable location. Wasn’t too loud at night considering how centrally located it is. Hotel room was comfortable. Would recommend.
- 5/5
Great place to stay in NYC
- 5/5
Our room was connected to another by a door, and we could hear even when people where talking at a low voice. Unfortunately, our neighbors were up all night. Making our stay really uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Convenient location, close to subway. Clean rooms and easy check in and out. Traveled alone for business and felt totally safe.
- 5/5
If I had one criticism it would be there were only two lifts and you had to wait a couple of minutes for them occasionally. Otherwise in terms of location, staff and value for money you won’t beat this place. A real gem.
- 5/5
The stay was good - average. The place was clean and the people who worked there were very nice.
- 5/5
This is a great hotel! The location can’t be beat. The service is helpful and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Greatly recommend this hotel when visiting NYC!
- 5/5
Very conveniently located near EVERYTHING, yet still quiet and peaceful. I can’t say enough about the service! The staff are ALL extremely friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
I have stayed at many hotels in NYC but the Cambria is my favorite so far. It’s clean and quiet and in a convenient location. I’m staying there again in a week.
- 4/5
Wake you up. Other than that, it was fantastic and I would stay here again.
- 4/5
Overall it was fine but hotel prices are so high in NYC that you never feel like you’re getting a good deal.
- 3/5
The property needs updating. The rooms are a bit tattered and the mattress is very springy and squeaky. My HVAC kept turning off and not restarting without a call from maintenance.
- 5/5
Rooftop is a big bonus
- 5/5
A wonderful little hotel smack dab in the middle of rows of florists and great eats. Steps away from the subway line & Citibikes. Hospitable and clean. A new favorite.
- 5/5
Was a great start, unexpected delay due to parade the day we needed to check in. Perfect location, close to tume square broadway 5th ave empire state building all walking distance.
- 5/5
Great little hotel. Comfortable and quiet. Friendly staff, good coffee, good bed.
- 5/5
The staff is very accomodating. The location is perfect, everything is walkable. Its true what you read about "only the 2 elevators", but we never had an issue going up or down.
- 1/5
Horrible stay and tI by didn’t return my security deposit still.
- 3/5
Very nice bed. The bathroom, however, was too small and highly inconvenient.
- 4/5
The staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was good and the air conditioning was perfect for the New York summer heat wave
- 3/5
Our most recent trip left us disappointed. The gentleman who checked us in was professional and kind. However, when we went to make a request at the front desk later on, the gentleman who spoke with us on the evening of June 19 was unnecessarily rude and condescending. We were just returning from a wonderful performance at the Met, and his demeanor really put a damper on our evening. While we would consider staying here again because we understand every operation can have an off day/bad apples, we will no longer make an effort to book solely at the Cambria, and will certainly consider other options (of which there are plenty).
- 2/5
Very small rooms and very very small bathrooms. The bathroom door just opens to the bed
- 3/5
The room was cold without the option to turn off the a/c or change the temperature on it. The ice machine is incredibly loud and a disturbance throughout the night. The shower space has broken and loose tiles. However, the staff was excellent and friendly and the location of the hotel makes attractions walkable.
- 5/5
What truly made the experience exceptional was the staff—they were incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help. Their hospitality made all the difference. If you're looking for a cozy yet spotless hotel with outstanding service, this is definitely a great choice!
- 5/5
I really enjoy the stay. There were really kind, easy and welcoming!
- 5/5
The hotel was perfect for our short stay. They accommodated changing to 2 queen beds since my son decided to come on short notice. You can see the world trade tower from the roof deck. Bath had an unpleasant smell.
- 5/5
This property was attractive, exceptionally clean and very comfortable. The roof top bar was great for a nightcap or late afternoon glass of wine after a busy day. Best of all, I received several texts from hotel staff throughout my stay, checking to confirm that I had what I needed.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Sstaff was very accommodating and nice.
- 1/5
The rooms in the hotel are very small but the bathroom is absolutely horrendous. The door to the bathroom almost hits the toilet. You cannot get out of the bathroom with the door open without hitting the toilet. If you put the bath mat down the door cannot open and close. It is in a grungy neighborhood. There is no bellman, no restaurant, no food whatsoever. Our room was not cleaned one day, we asked for towels at 10:30pm and only received one. They did make a small Financial discount when we left for this. We were told it was in a certain neighborhood but it was not in the neighborhood as advertised. Would never stay there again. The front desk people however are very nice.
- 5/5
I had a lovely stay here while in town for work - the staff were very nice and checked in via text to make sure all was well, which I appreciated. The rooftop was also really sweet and we enjoyed being in the Flower District as Spring sprung and the flower shops were in full bloom 🌸
- 4/5
Great hotel. Location is perfect, within walking distance to everywhere and a subway line at the end of the street. Plenty of coffee shops, delis, restaurants etc nearby. Rooms are spacious, a little tired but clean and comfy. Housekeeping daily. Free coffee/tea in reception. More than happy to stay again on our next visit.

everything was amazing! didn’t know the mirror was bluetooth in the bathroom. only con that i have was the saturation on the tv was a little high i didn’t know how to change it but other than that very affordable and easy to get around. great food options!

Very quick service when the tv wasn’t working. 24/7 staff assistance available. Very secure property
- 5/5
This was my second time staying in this hotel, and I'm so happy to chose to stay here again. The street is rather quiet and fragrant as it is located on a row of floral shops. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The location is great for subway commuters and the neighborhood has a lot to offer for restaurants and cafes. I would absolutely stay here again.

It was lovely, right in the flower district. All of the shopkeepers and delivery people were super cheery and friendly. Two subway lines within a block or two. Walkable to Highline, Herald Square area (Macy's, Empire) great restaurants nearby, great price! We will be back.

However, we did encounter some issues during check-in. When we arrived, we were told there was no reservation under our name, despite having a confirmed booking through Expedia. I had not received any cancellation notice, so this was unexpected. After some back and forth, we learned that the reservation had been canceled on the hotel's end two weeks prior, but the update had not been reflected in Expedia’s system. I'm still unsure how this misunderstanding happened. Thankfully, the front desk was able to accommodate us with our original room (two beds) and even provided early check-in, which we really appreciated. That said, our experience with the front desk staff was mixed—while some were helpful, others could be quite rude and dismissive.
- 5/5
Clean, modern, good area, would stay again
- 5/5
Hotel was great. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, Madison Square Garden, Subways and Time Square. Front desk staff friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They were able to give suggestions for restaurants and local things to do.
- 5/5
It was the most comfortable hotel I have ever stayed in during a visit to NYC!
- 5/5
This hotel is extremely close to MSG which was what stood out the most. The rooms were decent sized & the area is walkable.
- 4/5
nice property, rooms are more spacious than other at comparable prices, hygiene was questionable only if you start to notice but staff was extremely accommodating of any and all requests and notably approachable and friendly
- 4/5
Internet speed very quick and great for zoom, text communication with staff for requests was great but was disappointed not to receive a towel over the course of a day (already provided feedback) for a clean shower.
- 4/5
We were there three nights and housekeeping never came to make up the room during our stay.
- 4/5
Chelsea was helpful in my request for my daughter. Thank you!
- 5/5
Great location in Chelsea. Walkable and easy access to subway. Very “normal” hotel in NYC in terms of amenities which I mean in a good way because some NYC hotels cut corners. Bathroom is small but nice shower. Room is also somewhat small, but included two double beds, desk with chair, closet, microwave and fridge. Even an extra side table. Staff were very accommodating in providing towels and tissues when requested. Nice area in lobby to lounge. We would return.
- 5/5
It was great because they have queen beds - the tv was having issues for a few days but they were definitely working to fix the problem
- 5/5
Our first stay at this hotel was great! The rooms were much bigger than average NYC rooms for the price. The only downside was that the housekeeping staff didn’t always come back to clean your room if they arrived before you left.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent and went above and beyond. Great location if coming in on the train and going to Madison Square Garden. Great stay. Will stay here again!

- 5/5
Excellent location, staff, and value.
- 4/5
A spacious room with attractive price in NYC.
- 5/5
The hotel is clean and in a good location. Neither our sink nor bathtub drained when we arrived. They were fixed very quickly-something one does not always get in a hotel.
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel and value for money in the middle of town
- 5/5
Staff awesome
- 3/5
Sometimes one or two bad apples in a hotel staff can make or break one’s stay. Unfortunately, for the Cambria hotel Chelsea, one such angry staff member ensures that we will never stay here again. We live in New York and due to recent structural damage to our apartment, our insurance company is paying for our lodging. As a result, a third-party is being used to book our reservations. Night one and two were uneventful, but on the morning of the third night, we informed staff that we would be extending it by another night or two and were waiting on a confirmation number from a third-party momentarily. Since it was a few seconds, before checkout time at 11 AM, a nasty front desk agent named Angel threatened immediately to have us physically removed from the room if we were not out in 20 minutes, despite my very friendly and logical conversation moments before explaining the above and expressing our wanting to extend our stay. Sadly, there are many employees of hospitality venues that do not understand that if their employers do not ultimately succeed that they will be out of a job as will countless others. The old saying you get what you pay for applies not only to the Cambria hotel, but also to staff of hotels in general. Be careful.
- 5/5
The location was so convenient to several main subway stations, Madison Square Gardens, Times Square, Empire State Building, 5th Avenue, etc.

I booked this room because it had 2 queen beds and we are a party of 4. The room was super clean. Check in was fast and easy. We had a hiccup and had to drive, so, we had to park a car. They have a "deal" with a parking garage that is $62 per night which is crazy expensive for me. The sink is super small which was inconvenient for 4 people in a room. The shower door made a horrendous squeaky noise that woke up the whole room anytime someone used it. At check-in, I was charged on two different credit cards. I made the reservation through Expedia with one credit card. At check-in, they asked for another credit card as my reservation was pay upon arrival. There was no notice that I would be charged on the original credit card as the front desk person suggested when I complained. I got notice from my credit card companies that the hotel placed a "hold" on both on my credit cards which held up my credit for the entirety of my visit. I tried to talk to a manager, but they did not seem to understand the actual problem of holding up my credit. When the room was cleaned, they only left enough towels for 2 people. This is a pet peeve of mine as it is a room for 4, so, why would you leave only 2 towels? The location was super convenient to the subway! I feel the rooftop would've been amazing in warmer weather. There was a "deli" place around the corner that I got a "cheap" breakfast from and it was delicious. The best part of the hotel for me was the bag check!

Decent but noisy
