Reviews
The hotel has a perfect location and offers spacious rooms, but the cleaning service is not daily and costs extra. Some guests have complained about the shower design, noise at night, and inaccurate descriptions of amenities.

Love the location. Love our suite with the terrace. Staff is great and professional. The common elevator could use a bit of deep cleaning. And the bathroom needs a bit of updating as well.

What impressed me even more was the team. Everyone — from the front desk to housekeeping — is incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy to work here. You can feel that they put their heart into what they do, and it creates such a calm, caring atmosphere. Honestly, part of me doesn’t even want to write this review because I know more people will discover how great this place is… and then there might be no rooms left! But the team here deserves all the appreciation. Thank you for making every stay special — I’m done searching for a better place in NYC.

Room was great space and very clean .. Staff always super kind and available, both in the lobby/at reception and on the floors (cleaning ladies and handy men). A’ Cafè very cute. Location is just amazing, very central and 1 min walk from Central Park.

LAUNDRY FACILITIES,Nice Lobby, Location My room was not ideally located…view was a construction area. The price was extremely high for the studio, with no daily cleaning…I would have been better off at a full service hotel

Comfortable, spacious, quiet room, but bathroom very tiny, although I liked having a tub. Disappointed there was no coffee available in room, but front desk clerk brought me some with some sweeteners from the hotel cafe.

I travel by myself and felt perfectly safe at this Hotel. I loved the location as I was on a Museum trip and many of the ones I visit were nearby. I loved the kitchenette and the ability to get my own morning coffee and my meals if I chose to stay in for the night. I be appreciated the bath tub as many hotels are taking them out. The star of my trip was the terrace. It was such a blessing to have an outdoor space. I truly loved that and will be back!

The location is great, close to Central Park. The kitchen was helpful with a decent size refrigerator, microwave, dishes, coffee pot. There was a kitchen, but no where for two people to sit and eat…no table and chairs. We had to have ice delivered to us, which was inconvenient. The lounge was only open M-F, which we found out on Saturday.

Spacious room and living room, comfortable bed, almost complete kitchen. Super friendly staff. They were able to change the shower head to a handheld one to accommodate my husband who was recovering from surgery. Poor lighting, no cooking utensils, bathroom was a bit too small, hard to have everything needed at hand.

The rooms were exceptionally clean and surprisingly large for New York - I was pleasantly surprised, checking in was smooth and every member of the team that we met and engaged with were professional and went out of their way to provide assistance. The facilities were also great - the gym, cinema room, laundry services etc. Prior to my arrival, I needed to pay for the booking in advance due to the fact that I was arriving later than my family. This was an EXTREMELY difficult process and I had to provide so many documents and jump through so many loopholes in order to pay! I am a seasoned traveller and have never been through such an arduous process. Sara and her team were professional and did their best to accommodate but this is a note to higher management to look into this - it needs to be streamlined and in line with payment processes in 2025.

Location wise we were exactly where we wanted to be .....very close to Central Park without having to pay the ridiculous prices of the hotels literally just across the road from us. We have stayed once at The Plaza and several times at The Park Lane overlooking Central Park so we've been lucky enough to have the spectacular views but the prices have gone up so dramatically we decided it wasn't worth paying that price and opted instead for the AKA which is literally half a dozen steps across the road from the back entrances of both The Park Lane and The Plaza. There are subway stations nearby making travelling around very easy and, if you want to make your own meals in the room there is a Wholefoods at Columbus Circle just a few minutes walk away. When we return to New York we will be staying again at the AKA. The decor isn't as lavish and there is no spectacular view but at a much more reasonable price you get the same great location, an enormous room and more useful facilities than we had in either of the other hotels we have stayed in.

I stayed in A.k.A Central Park, while I was working in NYC, I liked the rooms they were large for NYC standards, and I liked the amenities and the location. I didn't particularly appreciate that my room was only cleaned one day during my stay, if I wanted everyday service I had to pay $75. I did not know this while I was looking and booking.

The description on Expedia is inaccurate they do NOT clean rooms on a daily basis. They only clean once a week, which I disliked, it should be at least every other day. The shower design is extremely uncomfortable. There is no isolation so it’s noisy at night. Also there is no AC, which is also inaccurately described.

we've stayed here before covid so were glad to come back - this time booked a bigger room with terrace - was a lovely room just like the photos. However the fridge kept defrosting so we lost food several times. Is definitely not as good as before covid. But thats not the hotels fault its covid I am sure as before they had lovely mix and mingle evenings in the lively bar area - now none of that and bar open random short times, the cafe was hardly ever open either :( So these are things I hope will change now things are coming back to life post covid. I will say the doorman... never seemed to be interested in the doors or luggage. Our housekeeping ladies were lovely, so was Hugo for our airport drop off service. The location here is fabulous for anyone wanting to visit NY. So close to some of the prettiest stores to see at xmas :) Very close to grocery&food stores as well as higher price fine dining. Super near central park & subways. Fast internet - great tv channel selections and viewing channels, great on site laundry room. Its a fab spot for getting around and being near a lot of iconic places and not to close to the nosier places. The hotel room itself was nice and quiet too - we def enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others happily. Oh! my hubby & I are both short - the shower is really high & doesn't have a head that can lower & no shower on a handle so rinsing a problem - but has a bath sized so we could actually soak in so that was nice.

There were some complication and misunderstanding while making a reservation mostly on my end, however they took care of it really well and solved the all problems. It felt like I was staying my little studio apartment and I so much like it! Super great location. They don't have a real restaurant however they do have a nice cozy cafe on the first floor where you can have quick coffee or breakfast. The guy at the cafe is the sweetest guy! Loved everything here. I will definitely come back.

I came to NYC to meet my granddaughter born in Covid, and to visit 2 daughters I haven't been able to visit in over 2 years. I stayed a full week & the Central Park location was a convenient location for all. I love the space & amenities of a small apartment. The building even has free laundry. The staff are extremely friendly & helpful. I definitely want to stay here again.

This was a fabulous place to stay while I recovered from my surgery. The staff was so helpful and kind. Diana at the front desk was great with whatever I needed and the doorman (wish I could remember his name) was so sweet and funny. The location is so convenient to nearby awesome shopping, mini markets and coffee shops, salons, you name it! There’s a little salon across the street that will give you a great chair massage or foot massage for a great price. AND just a block away from the entrance to Central Park. I would definitely stay here again!

The hotel is in a prime location, yet surprisingly quiet. Our room was on the 11th floor. There was no street noise at all. The staff were all very courteous and professional. The hotel entrance lobby is very discreet, there are no delays at the elevator or reception desk that one encounters in larger hotels. There are no lounge or bar facilities. But this was not a problem because these were not important to our stay. The Wi-Fi performed excellently. The laundry facilities were good, though we did not need to use them.

Yes, there is nice kitchenette with microwave and small fridge, that may be very helpful for some guests, but only if you don’t mind eating alone. There is no place for two to seat together. There was one desk with a chair, one sofa chair next to TV and no space to move the furniture around to seat together, unless you seat in the bed that is bad. Think about a bad quality mattress, those that you can feel and hear the springs and when laying down if one person moves the other one moves too, that was my bad bed experience. For the mattress alone I would recommend you to choose a mass hotel chain, that at least you know that the mattress is good. About location it is amazing to enjoy the city not the hotel. Sorry AKA, no one likes the haters but I really wish that you use this to improve your guests experiences, because you do have the most important, that is an amazing location and all those issues can be fixed.

Excellent location. Easily walkable to pretty much anything in the area. Nice room - quiet (which you don't always get in NYC hotels) - very comfortable bed. Microwave/full sized mini fridge along with glassware and dishes in the room if you get takeout. Very nice staff. Only downside was their lounge - dead and very overpriced even by New York standards.

My wife and I spent five days here. Location was fabulous for visiting Central Park and major museums. We prefer to prepare our own breakfast. The studio had a kitchen with microwave, coffee maker and utensils for two—all the essentials. Whole Foods was a short walk away. Staff was extremely pleasant. We paid for the cleaning service. So for us, it was prefect: an apartment with daily maid service(we’re on vacation, right?). We’ll be back.

the temperature in my room. It was 73 to 76 degrees in my room for the four days I was there. Day and night. The staff tried to address by turning off any access to heat. They told me “The building was still in Winter Mode”. Which I guess means the building can only offer heat or A/C. But not both at the same time. the temperature in my room. It was 73 to 76 degrees in my room for the four days I was there. Day and night. The staff tried to address by turning off any access to heat. They told me “The building was still in Winter Mode”. Which I guess means the building can only offer heat or A/C. But not both at the same time. For what I was paying a night I am used to being able to control the temperature in my room.

My room (premium studio) was supposed to have city views. It didn't. My room was supposed to be 400 sq ft. It wasn't. Hotel was far from full occupancy and they still gave me a room right next to the elevator. Housekeepers would have all sorts of loud conversations in front of my door at 9am, then again in the afternoon. After I called to opt out of housekeeping and put the "privacy please" sign on my door, they still came into my room and threw away some of my belongings. I made the hotel aware of that several times and they didn't offer to replace the missing items, nor did they apologize. Front desk and lobby staff were kind of friendly and kind of helpful. Kind of.

Room was nice and had everything we needed, was a little disappointed though as it was smaller the the pictures depicted it to be when I booked. Our view was of a brick wall which wasn't the end of the world but was disappointing. We were at the end of the hall and could see in the room next to us from the window and they could see in ours which forced us to leave the blind down at all times making the room feel dark and dingy. Not the experience I was expecting but the room was clean and in a good area for walking to attractions.

Comfortable, well situated hotel with extremely helpful staff. Public areas and bar were quiet and welcoming and the studio was well furnished. The bed was extremely comfortable and bathroom and small kitchen were adequately equipped. Would recommend.

Hotel was very spacious, but was initially given an accessibility room. Was switched to a non-accessibility room upon my request, but had to wait until the next night. Several rooms are newly renovated and much more modern, but we always received the older rooms. Doormen and bellhops very friendly and courteous; same for most of the front desk except for one woman who was an exception. For the price, it's only worth it if you get a newer, modern room.

That staff was good . I took one bedroom premium suite was good but the floor they placed me in was not good maybe because i got cheaper rates in expedia i guess and before i book from expedia i called the hotel and i asked them what the different from premium and not premium they told me the premium has higher floors and not premuim has the lowers one and she asked me if i want to book directly from them which i didnt because expedia had the better rate for me They placed me in the 2nd floor which was no view no nothing and the AC machine was next to my window which couldnt sleep from the noise .

How fortunate to have a day of over 70 degrees in February. Spent the entire day in Central Park with my 6 year granddaughter. It was so easy to get around from this fabulous location, walking was easy, subway close by and always a cab! The staff was amenable, anxious to help. The rooms are so very much larger that what is normally offered in NY and having kitchen facility made it so easy with a child. Not only would I highly recommend this hotel, we are looking for another few days when we can do it again.

Our stay at AKA Central Park made it already magical trip even better. The staff was warm and welcoming, rooms are clean and large but the location was the cherry on top. Steps away from shopping on 5th or at The Plaza, AKA seriously delivered. Special thanks to Autumn and Jay for going out of their way to make us feel taken care of! We'll be back soon.

The room looks nice but that's about all I can say for it. If you plan on sleeping, this is not the place for you. Paper thin walls, food smells through the heating, I did not sleep at all. The coffee pot was crusty inside. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is a decent place for a business trip but lacking in amenities or charm. The first night we were there the heat in the room was oppressive and we called the front desk who sent someone who could not really fix the problem. The front desk staff is efficient but hardly warm. The cafe is very good and offers free coffee until 10. We are in NYC twice a year for business and thought this would be a good place to try. We did.

I highly recommend The AKA Central Park! The location cannot be beat - just steps away from Central Park and the subway. Very close to Radio City, Rockefeller and Times Square. The room was extremely comfortable and quiet. The staff were great and very accommodating. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again.

Hotel is very simple but modern. Room was spotless. Bed and linens very comfortable. Bathroom is small but very common for NYC. However even though small, very nicely appointed. You have everything you need at this hotel minus fancy chandeliers. The cafe is average. Food is rather bland. Many other cafes nearby to enjoy though. Very friendly staff. We will definitely stay at a.k.a again. Great location. 1 block from Central Park and 1 block from 5th ave.

Beautiful room and great location. My only complaint was that the room was very warm at time of arrival and when I turned on the AC, it was very loud so we slept with the AC off.

Was not expecting the deep soaking tub , so that was a big plus. Loved that they were firm about no smoking! We had a studio suite, was lots of room. Only real downside was that I could hear the people in neighboring rooms, even the room above us, where a couple had a big screaming fight for hours in the middle of the night. Loved the wide variety of tv channel options..

This is the best hotel in NY. Perfect location right by Central Park, large comfy room, kitchens in the rooms, decent gym, and tremendously helpful staff. Good food shopping at the end of the block, with Bergdorf Goodmans at the other end of the block, and subway stop nearby - this hotel makes life in NY easy and delightful. More than a place to sleep it is a hotel home.

We were tired and happy to arrive at AKA Central park. My husband was running the NYC Marathon, so the location was ideal. I booked the hotel through Hotels.com at least 8 or 9 months before the marathon. When we got there, however, the receptionist could not locate the reservation. After like 45 minutes she told me that they had recently changed systems, so our reservation probably didn't make it through. I called Hotels.com customer svc. they assured me the reservation was active, but when the manager on duty came out, he handed me a piece of paper coming from Hotels.com, stating that the reservation was cancelled. No information about who or when this happened. Then it was a back and forth between customer service and the hotel. One insisting it was active and another that it was cancelled. They finally gave us a room. When we finally got to the room, there was a fan going and it smelled like water had flooded the carpet. We were then transferred to a very nice room, but only for the night! We had to check out at 11 and check back in at 3:00 to a similar room to the one we had booked. The hotel itself and the staff was great. However, no one is giving me any answers to why such thing happened and no one has really apologized or compensated us in any way for the 2 hours of waiting and all the aggravation. I have reached out to Hotels.com several times and have not been successful at getting this issue even close to resolved. I am cancelling all future reservations. NO TRUST

The AKA is a little 'stripped down' There are no door men, or bell boys. There is no concierge or room service. This is fine with me. I can carry my bag to my room and hale my own cab. And I know where I want to ear or how to get theatre tickets. On the other hand, The AKA prices reflect the lack of staff. This is also fine with me. So, the price for the location is very low. But besides great location, the rooms are huge! I have stayed here 2times and both time had a 1 bedroom suite! I still don't kno wife I was lucky or all of their accommodations are suites? I had a huge king bedroom, Very nice 4pc bath, a huge living room and a large equipped kitchenette!,, That is awesome for the price and the location!,, I've stayed at the Plaza many times and love the luxury, but don't love the prices. AKA is a great alternative. Close to the Park and Fifth Ave.. Huge rooms. Clean rooms. And very pleasant professional desk staff. They do have a nice cafe next door and a bar. Just no room service. But there are a ton of places to eat and groceriy stores on 6th Ave. you can stock you kitchen for 1/4 the price of (cold, delayed) room service. I hesitate to send this review and let the secret out about the AKA!,

It was really handy having a little kitchenette as it meant not having to buy food out for every meal, so reducing the cost a little.

We were shocked to hear that housekeeping. Did not come with the booking of the room. That it is an additional cost. When we spoke with the manager, they said that they try to make it clear that housekeeping is not provided. Yet, not one of the THREE people we spoke with when checking in mentioned this!! Never have I ever experienced this in a hotel anywhere in the world. I am disappointment in the cost of the room and the lack of service. Next time we will book elsewhere.

Great room, comfortable bed, wonderful breakfast cafe. Great quick weekend stay.

Very close to the park. Very clean updated rooms. We booked the premium studio which is not the same as the pictures advertised. Our room was much smaller so we asked to switch rooms and out of the 3 they showed us none were the same as the pics advertised. Not a big deal since the rooms were very nice only smaller. Only main complaint was the room didnt include coffee which would have been nice for the price you pay. Would definately reccomend and stay there again.

I was surprised that ther was only a small bottle of water in our room, it meant that having spent 13 hours travelling we then had to go out to find a beverage. Although there was a laundry in the hotel, when we asked about steam creases out of the wedding dress we were directed to a dry cleaners. Apart fro the TV not working, so no music, and someone else's hair left in the shower, it was a lovely hotel and the staff were pleasant.
- 5/5
check in was quick and easy the staff were friendly and helpful. the location to all of the places to see was brilliant all in walking distance.Central park was just round the corner ,which is a lovely escape from all the hustle and bustle of the city .At night you could not hear anything outside so we had a good nights sleep.

Highly recommend. Friendly staff, clean, quiet, well equipt and great location
