    This place had roaches. There is nobody onsite therefore it is a place for underaged kids drinking alcohol. Kids that are drunk running up and down knocking on doors and running away. Very loud around there . I called the number provided and they don't care. Nobody even came to check out the roach problem.

    It’s older property but was very clean rooms. . We brought our dog . It’s truly on the beach with side view .. location is great public access how has a park with showers deck to go out to the beach .air conditioning great but loud but it covers outside noises .. Would stay again

    When we arrived it was nice we found our room easy but there was loud teens in the pool and this was at 11 pm we went to the beach for till 1 am and when we came back there was police cause of the teens. And then we wanted to just check the pool and the lady in the room next to the pool opened her door and started yelling at me and my family. We tried to tell her politely that we weren't with the teenagers and she still wanted to yell at us and tell us how she had a two year old and they were sleeping and we needed to keep if down and not slam stuff we told her we would be quite and then the teenagers came back so we went to our room. Next morning a man in the parking lot was asking us if we owned a black truck cause it hit his and another vehicle while we were standing at our white vehicle. When we tried to go to the office to talk to someone before check out the doors were locked and couldn't find anyone. All together would of been a better stay if someone would have been there to deal with the teenagers and the lady yelling at everyone and next time we will not choose this hotel. Even though it had a good price the atmosphere was not friendly.

    However, our initial impression was affected by the condition of the room upon arrival. The bedding did not appear to be clean, the bathtub required additional cleaning, and the shower curtain was visibly worn and appeared due for replacement. We also noticed that the floors were sticky and chose to clean them ourselves before settling in. Overall, we had a satisfactory stay, but the housekeeping standards and room cleanliness could be improved. Greater attention to cleaning and room preparation prior to guest arrival would help enhance the overall guest experience.

    The Mermaid Inn was conveniently located on the beach. It was a short walk and easy access to the beach and pool. The only thing we disliked was the parking lot. It was extra hard to maneuver through it and oftentimes people were blocking the road so you could not come and go.

    Close to the beach but no beach view I liked the easy check in. This was the only place available at the last minute I feel over charged. The tv did not work it was another room attached where we could literally hear everything going on they are extremely loud. I had to turn on ac to drown out the sound. It took about an hour but maintenance did come to fix the tv issue after I continued to call back to back. They sent a message about late check in but never responded when I asked for it after being up half the night. From previous reviews if you leave a good rating you can get the late check in so beware. Floors were also ever slippery and dirty.

    The room was pretty clean for the most part. There was some dust and cobwebs behind the curtains. Room was a bit upgraded, but ceiling was disgusting. Bed was super comfortable and room got nice and chilly to sleep! This is a self check in hotel so no staff to talk about. Ice machine could use a good cleaning. King size bedroom could use a small couch. No ocean view from the room, but a two minute walk away.

    Worst experience I’ve ever had and what’s worse is that after calling and making several complaints we left after one night. They never offered to refund any of the money I spent to stay at this dive! The pool was green so I would never have let my kids swim in it and the floor of the room was sticky and gross! The noise was out of control! There is NO ONE on site to manage any situations that may arise! They need to permanently close this hotel and use the area for parking! If they truly cared about making their paying customers happy they would have tried to compensate me for the nights I wasn’t staying!

    Location. The virtual check in was convenient. The staff was responsive to needs. I didn’t like that there’s no one in the office for needs. I had to communicate everything through booking messages. There were only 2 towels for 4 people and no blankets on the beds. Just sheets.

    The location of the hotel was great! The beach was maybe 75 feet away from the room. Quiet neighborhood, it's considered North Myrtle Beach and what I observed was families gathered without the noise that follows. So, upon entering the room I noticed a lot of space which some would think that's a great idea. No, it's not. I was kind of heartbroken because I visited this hotel a few years ago and received the best overall experience, but the room was the worst. I asked staff for towels, and she was unable to understand what I was asking she immediately stated no. I called the number because the hotel is now virtual and they sent the maintenance man to bring me towels. It was definitely a language barrier. It was also a pool but from a far the water looks uncleaned, so we visited the beach instead. Outside of this and the pool the stay was great I was expecting the hotel to have grown. I guess that's why my friends booked elsewhere because I experienced something they didn't.

    Let's go with the positives!!! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Beds comfy, ungraded furniture and refrigerator. We stayed here 3 yrs ago and loved it! Older property, great location, rooms with no frills but clean. This stay, eh I was disappointed. The check in was virtual, like an Air BNB. The interior of the room was either caulked or drywall patched to the hilt. The tub had a very slow drain, notified the property and it was repaired quickly. We noticed gnats in the bathroom and the pool was open but looked like it could use a good vacuuming. The location is great, the response from management was rapid but could use a bit more tidding.

    Personally, I did not care for the online check-in and having ZERO staff onsite. The room appeared clean at first then I noticed gum stuck to the curtains in an effort to keep them shut in the middle...GROSS! And hairs left in the shower/tub combo. The outside of the property needs to be cleaned up some. Location is in a quiet area of MB, so that was good.

    What I like is that The Mermaid Inn offers an ideal location that is convenient without being part of a massive, overwhelming complex. We particularly appreciated the seamless check-in process, which was both quick and efficient, allowing us to start our stay without any unnecessary delays. Accommodation Requests: Prior to arrival, I specifically requested a first-floor room due to mobility issues with my legs and back, as well as the convenience of traveling with children. Although I was assured this would be accommodated, we were placed on the third floor. Navigating multiple flights of stairs was physically difficult and not what I was led to expect. Housekeeping & Supplies: The process for obtaining basic essentials like extra towels or toilet paper is inconvenient. Instead of a traditional front desk service, guests must message a contact and wait for a response. A more direct method for requesting supplies would be much more guest-friendly. Pool Maintenance: The condition of the pool was highly disappointing. It appeared neglected, with cigarette butts, plastic, and sunken debris that had clearly settled at the bottom over time. My son actually tried to clean it himself with the net at the location of the pool, but much of the trash was unreachable. Lack of Management: The contrast was sharp compared to the neighboring property, which had a pristine pool. For families with children, the pool is a central part of the vacation, and seeing it so poorly maintained was a significant letdown.

    The location was decent it was a 30 second drive from everything Myrtle has to offer when it comes to shops, food, ect. The room was small but it accommodated me and my girlfriend. The room and bathroom were well kept and clean when we arrived To start off our stay was excellent, but there were a couple complications and issues we had. The floors weren’t extremely dirty but there was just some sand and made the floors feel grainy. Pets was the other issue I completely understand taking your dogs on vacation with you but when they constantly bark at anything possible it gets to a point and that was the issue me and my girlfriend had on the last night of our stay.

    The proximity to the beach was great, but due to everything else we had issues with, we did not actually stay at the Mermaid Inn. - Check in instructions did not work, and we had to switch rooms in order to check into our room. - The room felt damp - There was no toilet paper roll holder - The toilet DID NOT FLUSH, and we were told we had to wait 18 hours for maintenance - Sink drain had no catcher - Other patrons were fighting outside - Folks with suitcases were soliciting in the stairwell - A dog was running loose

    The location of the facility is absolutely perfect, bad part is is the facility is run down and not maintained. The room was not the cleanest, the AC unit filters were filthy, the floor had sand all over it. I found many building code violations and health code violations. The room housing the vending machines was crazy hot. The vending machines and the change machine were not working. The metal stairs by the front desk are in terrible shape and terribly corroded and structurally questionable. Hugh liability trip hazards from the anti-skid strips that were applied at one time. I heard many complaints from people that had had bad experiences with ceilings falling down because of Plumbing issues, door locks not working correctly, on and on and on, very disappointed

They were also blasting music, and with the paper-thin walls, it was just not going to work out. We also noticed wet caulk in the doorway to the bathroom, spread onto the floor. The people outside were very sketchy and it became a concern for our safety. We simply could not stay there. I have tried several times to get a refund, but they simply do not respond to any message.

    Once i finally git checked into the room the accommodations and location were perfect. The virtual check-in process was frustrating. Once i finally got a live human on the phone i was checked in and could get into my room after sitting in the parking lot for 45 minutes.

    So be aware that you were getting what you pay for in this hotel it has been somewhat remodeled to an art deco style and the staff was helpful, but check-in and out was very awkward. Somewhat pleased with the price but definitely got what I paid for that price it was average on cleanliness

    Locks do not work seen several people just opening hotel room no key needed . Gave me a room number, went and go the key and someone was in my room !!! Pool green ! It walks out to the beach which is a bonus and the area was good !

    Something was leaking from the ceiling and was all over the towels in the bathroom. Dead bugs in the room. People were shooting up in the laundry room. Told them were were not staying and they tried to give us another room and refused to give a refund. Will never stay there ever and would not recommend for anyone.

Killed a big water bug. Windows dirty looking. Could not turn air down or off. No trash can. Stairs need to be repaired. Would not want to stay here again. Location was perfect

    I rarely leave reviews, but my recent stay at this hotel was unacceptable. The comforter on my bed was burnt, which is both unsanitary and unprofessional. I was shocked that something so visibly damaged was still placed in a guest room. In addition, the stairwells and common areas were dirty, and trash was overflowing throughout the property. It gave the entire place a neglected and poorly managed feel. This is not the experience I expected or paid for. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the cleanliness and quality control issues immediately. I will not be returning and don’t recommend this hotel.

    I booked this hotel because it is next door to where my cousin was staying and I wanted to be there for her wedding. I never even stayed in this place one night. They have a total virtual check in.I was never made aware of any check in process when i spoke to someone on the phone earlier in the day to let them know I would be arriving late. I got an email saying I will need a physical key and I would get information on retrieving it. They did not tell me how I would receive this information. I never received the information when arriving at 12 am in the morning there is no clerk no way to communicate and we had to find another place to stay.Upon our late arrival we spoke with a guest that also had issues with check in. I called and spoke with someone the following day and they put the blame on me and would not refund although I had all emails and texts they sent and none of it had any information that I needed to check in. They sent me the information a day later. I disputed the credit card charges and did receive my refund. I am glad now that we did not stay here. Being next door at my cousins place and seeing this place from above it did not look like a comfortable or well kept place to stay. The pool was very dirty looking. Definitely would not recommend this place. If they do not keep any clerks or anyone available who would you go to for any issues or anything you would need during a stay there? This hotels operations are inefficient and lack proper oversight.

I never received the information when arriving at 12 am in the morning there is no clerk no way to communicate and we had to find another place to stay.Upon our late arrival we spoke with a guest that also had issues with check in. I called and spoke with someone the following day and they put the blame on me and would not refund although I had all emails and texts they sent and none of it had any information that I needed to check in. They sent me the information a day later. I disputed the credit card charges and did receive my refund. I am glad now that we did not stay here. Being next door at my cousins place and seeing this place from above it did not look like a comfortable or well kept place to stay. The pool was very dirty looking. Definitely would not recommend this place. If they do not keep any clerks or anyone available who would you go to for any issues or anything you would need during a stay there? This hotels operations are inefficient and lack proper oversight.

    Location is great; right on beach! Rooms were clean and we didn't see any bugs. Beds were comfortable. However, there was no deadbolt on the door. Room had no hangers at all and stairs up to room looked like they were about to rust through! There was no cleaning service at all during the stay. Shower was terrible! Pool was green and murky. I asked for a late check out and was told we could have one if I left a 5 star review on Google and sent them a screen shot. I declined since that is unethical. Overall, not a good experience.

First it was the occupants around and above us slamming doors, arguing, and playing loud music. Next were the fireworks until the fire department arrived. Not to mention the barking dogs, and the next door neighbors TV blasting at full volume. Then finally, about 5am, it quieted down. There’s no staff at the hotel as it’s all virtual so if anything goes down, it’s the guest’s responsibility to contact authorities and try to get a hold of an employee. I’ve stayed here before when the front desk was staffed and the experience was great which is why I booked again. Unfortunately, this isn’t my jam and we won’t be back.

    So only opion was electronic check in. Check was smooth and easy. Rooms clean but dated. Never saw housekeeping. Biggest issue was no security to monitor property and people not staying there loitering in parking lot making a potential safety issue. Would not likely stay there alone

    Don't ask for extra towels because you will not get them. Don't ask for anything after hours for no one is on the property to assist you with anything. I had to help several other customers find the janitors closet to get the keys to their rooms because their codes didn't work. Those are not listed properly. Just luckily I was outside the room at midnight and they approached me. NO ONE that works there SPEAKS ENGLISH if you call they hang up because they say don't understand. I complained about BUG activity and they reassured me there wasn't any.

    Overall the hotel was great!! Walking distance to the beach, has a pool and convenient to stores and food. I will stay here again but not in the same month. I happened to go while a school was there for spring break and it was loud at times even after hours and they left a mess.

    I loved how close to the ocean this was! The parking was fine. You can tell it’s an old motel that the owners have spit shined and done a great job. Some of the things were weird, the bathroom door had white tape all over like it was kicked in almost, the toilet paper roll was empty sitting in the holder, etc. but those are just small things that didn’t super impact the stay. The beds were super comfortable and the room was clean, that’s the biggest thing for me! I’m a stickler for that! The contactless check in was awesome, too! But the fact it was just a nice little place in the middle of all the chaos of the huge resorts is what sold it for us! Will stay here again when we make it back to Myrtle!

    The motel was basic with no frills but very clean and suited me perfectly. I traveled with my 2 dogs and our accommodations were very good. The location was perfect - right off the beach with excellent areas to walk my pups. Check in was different than I’ve had at other motels/hotels. It was done via text. No one was actually on the property but instructions were clear and went well. I will definitely return!

    Upon arrival the door code provided by text msg didn't work so they changed it to their general code. The room was warm (it was 100 degrees out). There is no light switch until you fully enter the room. The drapes do not close fully and this was first floor a couple rooms from the outdoor pool. There were no hangers for the clothes rack. The furnishings are newer. However, as discovered after putting my food in the warm refrigerator (I turned it up)...the refrigerator didn't work (lost all the food I brought), the air conditioner ran continuously but did not cool (it was warm and stagnant). There is no front desk, all communications are via text. After a couple days, they brought the refrigerator from the room next door and installed a new air conditioner. They reset the door lock pad. I discovered later that the door now doesn't lock at all. Anyone walking by and noticing a green light on the lock will know it's not locked. I told them to bring something to close the curtains and they gave me 2 binder clips (I was going to go to a store to buy these). I was scheduled to be there until Saturday and I left on Thursday....2 more nights paid for but couldn't safely stay there. No refund was offered...in fact, they asked if I'd like to extend my stay! This is all unacceptable.

    Mermaid Inn is definitely a great choice for that price. The location is great. Unfortunately you cannot see the ocean from level 1, not sure about the other levels but it is oceanfront. The rooms are very simple. They are older and a little rough around the edges but have been updated some. I would recommend it and would stay here again.     This place was awful. We didn’t even stay because of the conditions and they offered zero care or refund. There was a 1.5 inch gap on the bottom of the front door! Bugs and mice could get in zero problems. There was mice pee and poop behind the beds, stains on one of the beds comforter, disgusting vents and a broken front window. It is a health hazard do not stay. My daughter was with me and due to the sanitation and feeling unsafe we made other arrangements and are out the $320 they charged for us not staying. The communications the first day was horrific and rude. And they offered zero accountability on their part. Do not book this place. Oh and the pool was so cloudy it looked disgusting.

    My room was dirty. There was a lot of drug users. I constantly smelled weed. There was a huge gap under the door. You could see outside from under the door. Management refused to give me another room. Floor was dirty, trash was left in the garbage, lady razor was left above the shower.

    When we arrived, our lock to our room didn't work property. I called the number on the front door of the property and they were able to help get us into a different room quickly. Rooms were clean, plenty of towels, and guests in other rooms were very respectful.

    I had my 2 dogs with me and it was perfect. Very spacious and clean. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Inn was rught on the beach beach was clean and not so crowded. Bed was comfortable and clean. I really enjoyed my stay, I wish I could have stayed longer. Will go back again next year.

    We enjoyed our stay, however one thing that drove me crazy is they only had one mirror in the bathroom. Getting ready with several girls was hard for us, having to share the mirror and you couldnt step back and check our your outfit when done. The maintenance man was very nice and gave us extra towels and helped us get into the room. Great location and short walk to beach. The swimming pool could definitely use a upgrade and we had trouble with the tv/wifi all weekend but overall it wasnt a bad place. Extra points for being pet friendly and accommodating my ESA. Big room for the budget would stay here again if in the area.

    This updated retro hotel was perfect for ourbeach visit with our dog. It was steps to the beach with a beachside pool. There is a sweet little park beachside with picnic tables, rocking chairs, benches. Flowers everywhere. The facilities to wash feet or shower were perfect. Just the perfect location. Lots of places were walking distance. Highly recommend.

    I like the access convenience to the beach. Its a very quiet area which i look for that. I go to bed and rise early, thus a quiet area is a must. I am on the fence about the check in, as their is little to no staff. Its all done online which is a very smooth transaction, it's just strange to not see anyone in the office.

    Room felt dirty, tub was dirty, not enough toilet paper for 2 day stay, no housekeeping to empty trash or get more towels. Its on the beach which was convenient. No front desk so no one to assist with any issues.
