The front desk it was very nice and very helpful. The rooms were spacious but the room we got smelled like smoke. I thought I had a non-smoking room, but apparently there was a nice train there so it was a smoking room the only handicap room they had other than that place is OK prices what you get would you pay for and that it was a pleasant day other than the smoky room

Disappointing

An unexpected delay in travel plans at 11pm forced me to search for a place to stay overnight. The Kings Lodge Motel seemed to be one of the least expensive private room with bath options in a safe neighborhood not too far from downtown Los Angeles. My requirements were simple because I only needed a place to sleep for 7 hours: bed, shower, towels, soap and shampoo. I used the air conditioning briefly to lower the temperature in the room. The guy at the front desk was friendly and helpful. If you only need an inexpensive place to shower and sleep, this place will meet your needs, but don't expect much more. I find better values using AirBnB, but my late night change in plans made that alternative impossible.

The office was pretty cool The restroom smells like cigarettes and the room smells like public restrooms, the towels fells like unwashed with dust and marks on it, everything looks broken with drawing on the cabinets and the blanket is only a pice of cloth and the ac/heater does not wok.

It's clean, peaceful, and most importantly no insect of any kind.

Very clean room. New beds, fresh linen, some rooms have a couch in them. The bathrooms are huge and private with enough room for your luggage, as their is a walk-in closet in each bathroom. The city view is amazing. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to get away for some piece and quiet.

Honestly the staff was great and we enjoyed our stay, however, the mattress and sheets were stained. It was gross. You can tell tweakers stay there.

Clean rooms, big private bathrooms, i had a city view room which was very nice at night. Bed was comfortable and very quiet for a friday night. Staff was friendly and didn't bother us. Cable tv and even had a sofa bed. Recommended for couples and small families.

Good location, big rooms, huge private bathrooms, cable/adult channel, and pretty relaxing. But...the beds are noisy. So if you do the do with your significant other...get a room on the 1st floor. Or else everyone is gonna hear your business.

The room I had didn't have a deadbolt for that added security feeling when sleeping. Not a deal breaker

Its decent for a motel. The rooms are spacious but the shower head is a small old school plastic shower head, the bed was a box spring bed, not even with a memory foam gel topper. For the price you pay, it is what u get.

I was pulled over by the Monterey Police Department as I was leaving and informed that the place is bad place to stay due they are known for drugs.

I like here a lot because it's my get away place

Not worth the price. Over $100 for 1 night. Wasn’t clean and was noisy. Checked out early due to that. Just needed a night to stay but couldn’t even sleep due to feeling unsafe.

The room smelt like cigarettes. The toilet constantly leaked at a considerable rate and the shower blasted water from the bottom and top faucets like there's no tomorrow. Also, no recycling.

Everything !!! Holes in doors and walls, graffiti on walls. Smelly. Low spots in mattress. No washcloths. Soap the size of snack size candy.

The TV was only 18 inches and did not work. I requested to change rooms and when I did, it was pretty much the same thing. The bed did look like it was changed, but everything else was the same including the graffiti etched into the counter and pubic hair all over the bathtub and a non working tv. This room also did not have any towels or toilet paper. This room also smells disgusting just like the previous room and it was supposed to be non-smoking. I cannot imagine what people are going through who decide to stay at this hotel. I left immediately. This place looks like a crack, hotel/hooker spot, on a horror movie. When I complained to the manager at the front desk he said “well it’s not the Ritz Carlton, you know?” Lol, does it really need to be the Ritz Carlton for a guest to have clean towels, bedding, and a fresh smelling room?

The room has water damage on the walls and the ceiling has a hole with a motel 6 logo filling the hole. Damage to the door as well graffiti all over the dresser. I didn’t feel safe and refused to stay the night. My wife had made a report to the health department.

Worse motel experience in my life. A stranger knocking on the door at 2am; sink needed repair; parking area was borderline dangerous. We had to pay a $20 deposit just to use the TV remote. We come to Monterey Park 3 to 4 times a year, but don't plan to stay here again.

As soon as you open door to room it lets out a really bad smell out from room. Carpet looked dirty didn’t even looked clean, bathroom dirty and on top of that roaches in the room. Terrible service definitely will never book here again!!!

Upon initial arrival it was not bad. I had a strange feeling when I needed to give the office $10 in cash in order to get the key card and the remote, but looked past it. I shouldn’t have. Upon entry into room there was a faint smell of smoke. The door only had the one lock attached to handle and it wasn’t even screwed in all the way and had a large crunch of door missing around lock. Window did not lock. Fridge was not clean. There was hair in the bed, bathroom towels were frayed, corners of bathroom were very dirty and hair on floor. Bathroom fan was extremely dirty and hanging from ceiling. There was a large hole cut out of the wall under the bathroom sink. I checked bed for cleanliness and found hairs. I decided to not stay there, I returned two days later to check out, as I returned to the room to get the remote in order to get my $10 back, the room smelled strongly of smoke and bed was exactly as I left it with sheet pulled back. The attendant did not speak English so very difficult to communicate, had a hard time checking me out, refused to return the copy of my license back to me and did not want to give me a copy of the receipt. I was clearly not their normal clientele, but when booking online it’s difficult to tell. I felt unsafe and uneasy in the very little time I stayed there, I’m shocked at the cost of this place considered the actual conditions.

run down and filthy, broken and worn furniture, dirty walls and bathroom. TV didn't work nor did the WIFI. Staff were kind and helpful. The first room we checked into reeked of cigarette smoke even though it advertises as non smoking, they did change our room, but the area was much to be desired

Bad hotel, room was big but no maintenance, everything was old, something had the floor in the bathroom full of water, they came and threw a bunch of towels on the floor, we did not stay, left after an hour or two of being there

My stay here was great. Super comfy and big bed, the room was spacious and had ore than enough room for unpacking my things. Even had a little closet next the the restroom which was nice an clean. Neighbors kept to themselves and the area was nice. Would definitely stay here again.

It was real noisy even at 2 am, the refrigerator was making noise and the towels had paint from probably painting the facility. The front office made it seem like they were doing us a favor .

Historic town with a decent affordable relaxed hotel. Nice staff, it was an unforgettable experience. Would recommend to friends and family traveling on a budget.

To have big itchy spots in my hand, neck and butt for days. The employees apparently know something , and the owner denied it. Such a stupid place. They should not be allowed to open for business, certainly Expedia should not advertise for them.

Checked in and got room just to walk in to a super dirty room called front desk to let them know and was told be right there to clean. Hour later still nothing. Will not stay here ever
