Lobby was too cold but nice.

Check in was not friendly and directions were unclear. Room was supposed to have a “large mural” and it did not. Room was not updated as the website said. All amenities were at the “sister hotel”. Even picking up our valet car was at the sister hotel. No accommodations for the closed street and having to move all out bags through the alley to get our car. Ice machine broken.

The room looked like it was in disrepair. The mirrored wall broken and messed up. The glass shower doors could barely slide and felt like they’d shatter if you tried to open them. The wall unit AC was loud and sounded like it was ready to break. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Wouldn’t recommend

I really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the convenience of being so close to the ocean. Everything was well maintained, and the service made me feel welcome. I would definitely stay here again and recommend The Penguin Hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Miami Beach.

I loved the view , I stayed in the king ocean front room. Right on the strip, I felt safe as a solo traveler and that was important to me. The room was clean when I arrived and staff were friendly . I’d stay here again.

It was a beautiful experience staying at the penguin hotel. The staff were amazing. The amenities were great and the beach was beautiful and just right across the street. Everything was close by and we had an amazing time. I definitely will be back to stay at the penguin hotel.

Dirty, moldy because of a broken window, shower water was a rusty reddish color, and above all no lock on the door or a peep hole to look out… elevator also got stuck

Hôtel et chambre minimaliste mais super propre. Accueil un peu rude à l’arrivée . Ils font dans l’efficace . La chambre est vraiment bien , assez grande et aussi une grande douche. Si vous arrivez tôt, vous pouvez laisser votre valise et sortir, la réception vous appellera pour vous informer que votre chambre est prête . J’ai eu la mienne plus tôt que prévu .La location est excellente et pour passer une nuit avant de partir en croisière , c’était l’idéal

From Friday to Sunday 4:30 in the morning the people upstairs were dragging something across the floor and I went to the front desk from Friday to Sunday and nothing was done about it. All day and all night there was something being dragged on the floor over my head and since they didn't move me to another room I figured they were all booked until I spoke to one of the workers at 5:00 a.m. this morning when I was checking out and he said, why didn't they just move you to another room? I said, that's a good question. This place needs to do better I am going to speak to the manager, the general manager, or whoever I need to speak to because I would like a refund in full. I went to Miami to relax because of all the stress that I have and all I did was get aggravated the whole weekend!

I didn't like cause they didn't have a microwave in the rooms!!!! I never in my life been to a hotel & never had a microwave to warm food up!!! I didn't like cause we had to walk out the hotel to get to the pool!!!! I always thought the pool was in the same building with the hotel!!!! I loved it because the beach was right across from the hotel!!!!

Great location but sadly no longer well staffed so reception is often shared with the sister hotel a street back and the bar on ocean drive is also no longer running - a huge waste given the great beach facing location. Renovations and repairs are poorly done which makes this gorgeous art deco hotel a bit run down. Room was very swiftly serviced so not well detailed and there was a lot of dirt build up in corners and the odd hair in the bathroom. Shower mixer was almost busted and sounded like it would snap each time we used it. The bathroom exhaust fan only worked with the bathroom light first shower then not again. Maintenance is an issue. Beds were very comfortable and very well laundered and quality linens were used. We slept very well, although there was a lot of noise and we were the first room along from the lobby so every guest passed by causing our door to rattle repetitively.

It’s a very old historic hotel and has a nice view of the ocean with palm trees. Great location snd easily accessible to restaurants and shops. The beach is across the street!

Great location on Oceanside Drive! Central to lots of great food, coffee shops, and entertainment. However, there is no direct view of the beach as shown in photos from this hotel, but beach access is less than a 5 minute walk across the street. There is also no on-site bar, restaurant, pool, or room service, also shown/mentioned at this property, but easy access behind the property at their sister hotel The President. Staff was exceptionally helpful and welcoming.

Walls need insulation as we could hear everything. Also housekeeping kept there cart right outside our door the entire stay……

Hotel was good for a few nights

Overall it was a good stay, the room was decent for the price and area it was in. This was my first time to Miami and so we did want to stay next to the beach. While the hotel could use some upgrades the staff were really friendly and always helpful. The ac was always blowing cold and I loved that I was able to connect my Amazon account in the room to watch my favorite shows when relaxing at the end of the day. Overall, I would stay at the hotel again, I’d just like to try one of their suites to see if that makes a difference and more enjoyable stay. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Great location. Comfortable room. I was staying for work so spent very little time in the hotel itself but it is a great place for any business travelers attending the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Location is everything and the Penguin provides exactly that. You are just steps away from the beach, right at Lummus Park and Ocean Drive, but without the noise of all the restaurants on Ocean Drive. The staff is very nice. The rooms, especially the bathrooms are small. Most rooms will not have a view. However, the rooms are clean and provide everything you need to rest up at night before going back outside to enjoy everything South Beach Miami has to offer. The AC units are a bit older and noisy, something that could be improved on, as well as the shelf right above the sink, which should be moved to the other side. Additional areas to hang wet clothes or towels would be nice too. The bedding was simple but clean. A headboard would have been nice and could spruce up the room instantly. The pool area provides a nice view of downtown Miami. It’s not big but if you want a pool, they got one. The Penguin is nothing fancy but was exactly what we needed during our stay, affordable, right at the beach, watching sunrises every morning with only a few steps to the beach and in walking distance to all the hot spots. We were happy with our decision to stay at the Penguin.

The Penguin Hotel was super comfortable. The ocean view is very minimal, but still a very beautiful view nonetheless. The bed was SO comfy! There is a lot of street noise, but that’s to be expected. It’s in such a great location, everything is so walkable! The ac worked great and kept us very comfortable. The only thing I wish it had was black out curtains, other than that, the stay was amazing.

We checked in shortly after 3pm check in time. Asked for room on 2nd floor or higher. Only double bed room available was 106, right off the lobby. Room small, tight w/2 people, couldn’t image 4! Front desk informed me 2 speak w/desk next morning about room change. Did, told no other rooms available. Checked next day, same reply, but told only rooms w/2 double beds is on 2nd floor. Now day 4, day 5 same answer. Our beds where your head laid was right up against the wall that butted up 2 the back of noisy, expired elevator. Plus had family w/children above us that were extremely loud. Pounding noise like dragging furniture one end of the ceiling 2 the other. At least water pressure was very good in the shower. Pool very nice!

Everything thing was great, except we couldn’t charge our phones in our room. Not in the lobby either. We weren’t able to charge our phones. The made it impossible to capture memories. The receptionist finally find an outlet behind the desk that could change our phones. We bought new chargers and they just wouldn’t charge in our room or the lobby. Great location.

Not enough fruit (only apple, banana, and orange). It lacked a proper Nespresso-type coffee machine for a decent cup of coffee, and also cheese and cold cuts. but also Nutella or jam for the pancakes.

A robot answer the phone and will eventually hang up on you. There is no way to contacting the hotel. Otherwise all is good and at a reasonable price with great location

The staff was great and very helpful, and the rooms were consistently clean with fresh linens and helpful extras like an iron. However, amenities were lacking as there is no on-site dining room. Unlike other spots on the Ocean Drive strip, we had to go to a different hotel to eat. Great service and cleanliness, just be prepared to head out for meals!

I had a clean room and a very comfortable bed with soft sheets. My terrace had a beautiful view of the beach and lots of space. One small piece of privacy fence had blown over in the high winds before I arrived. The only downside to the private room is an inaccessible electrical room that was making a lot of noise. Bangs, dragging/scraping, etc. at random times throughout night and day. The only reason it did not bother me is because the AC unit is so loud when it’s on that it drowns out all other sounds. If you like it quiet to sleep, bring earplugs to this room. I hope all rooms AC units were not as loud. Aside from the noise, everything was great! Delicious breakfast, nice pool area, on Ocean Drive within walking distance of many things to do and see.

Location was great, right across the street from the beach and short walking distance to restaurants and bars. The rooms were small and the pool was at the sister hotel next door. Breakfast was also at the hotel next door and not a lot of food options.

Parking garage on 13th and Collins is good. $20/day Breakfast and pool are at sister hotel, The President, which is a street over on Washington. The beach is literally across the street from Collins, where the hotel is located. Staff is friendly. The area is walkable.

Area was great. The room was small and needed to be re cleaned after we found it was dirty. The bed was comfy.

The staff were helpful and the room was clean. The pool and the breakfast was in a separate building. The breakfast was packed every morning with hardly anywhere to sit, but the food was good. There is no close parking. It’s best to do valet which is $35 a day. Beach is right across the street. Shops are walking distance. I would not recommend eating at The Alley pizza. They charged us $154 for 2 large pizzas. Outside the hotel is loud. There’s a lot of traffic and noise at night. Easy to hear from your room.

There was no ventilation on the restroom and the room was smelling like humidity.

The room was overall clean there really wasn’t enough soap or shampoo and conditioner. The mattresses were terrible. The they don’t change anything in the room unless you’re safe for three days which is pretty standard but it the room is tiny. The people in the hotel were very nice South Beach. It’s very rundown. It’s not about the hotel.

The property was OK. The buildings are very close together. We had no view whatsoever. We looked at the building next-door. The mattresses were not good at all. It was a place to stay. We got a really good read. It was right on Ocean Drive. The people were very nice but it’s a very rundown hotel. All the hotels are very rundown.

The staff is very nice. Water and coffee in lobby complimentary. Shares pool with sister hotel across the alley and if you buy breakfast it is in the sister hotel. Pool ok rooftop of sister hotel- very nice, albeit small. Room was clean, a little tight but very functional. Well maintained property. We chose to not have room cleaned until the end. Nice hotel front patio to watch the park across the street and people. Beach is across the street past the park. It’s very nice. You can borrow beach chairs and have towels from the front desk for the day. Tons of everything in walking distance. Great location. I would stay here again. Thank you

Best part of the hotel is the location. Easy access to the beach right across the street. You still need to rent a chair not associated with the hotel when you get out there. We reserved the ocean view king suite so our room was fairly large with a nice view but our friends had at a tiny room facing another building. The hotel is old but renovated. Breakfast and pool are in a different building but we really didn't need either. Bed was comfortable.

Right at the beach, 15th street so close to everything, walk anywhere, staff was the best, I forgot about the breakfast, wish I tried it, room was clean, they do housekeeping like all day, love the shower, love the full mirror wall, good size room, comfortable bed, free water bottles n water in the lobby to fill your bottle, mini fridge in the closet, lit up in bright blue at night so you can find your way back easily. Sorry those pics are not the pool there, it won’t let me delete them, only the first pic is the rooftop pool, the other pics are a diff place. Breakfast is in another building and the rooftop pool is in another diff building, so it’s 3 buildings, not as convenient, have to go thru the alley to get over there, also the ac unit is crazy, if it’s not blowing it’s hot but if it is blowing it’s freezing you and right next to the bed. There’s not a plug for phones on both sides of bed, only where the air is blowing in your face. I was on first floor and they have multiple sets of steps in the hall so u can’t use the dolly for luggage, there’s no room microwaves but the lovely staff let me use theirs, so I still could warm my food. The shower door was real hard to move, prob from sand bc there was also always sand on the floor. No carpet or throw rug

This hotel was in great location! The beds were comfortable and everything was clean but there was nowhere to put clothes away ( like a dresser) and the bathroom was extremely small. The fact that you have to walk across to back of hotel and enter another hotel for the pool wasn’t great for us. When I signed up for this hotel, it said free breakfast was included but when we got there, the front desk said we weren’t on the list for free breakfast. It was ok to stay here but these were the issues I didn’t care for

2 star. Clean and recently poorly renovated. Paint stains on window cushion. Exposed wiring. Poor value for A$600 on. Stay in upmarket Miami hotel and uber to the beach for same price.

My daughter and I stayed here on a quick trip to Miami for 4 nights. We loved everything about it. The friendly staff, the cute, retro beachy vibe, and the location! The beach is right across from the hotel and the hotel provides you with towels for the day at the beach. The rooftop pool is also awesome. There are so many great restaurants and cute cafes within a few blocks, we had a hard time choosing. We hopped on the free trolley just a block away from the hotel and turned around. We would 100% stay at The Penguin again!

Very nice hotel at a perfect location

I had a wonderful experience staying at the Penguin Hotel, and a big part of that was thanks to Carmen. From the moment I arrived, Carmen went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. She was incredibly accommodating and attentive. The hotel itself was great, but the outstanding customer service is what really stood out. Would have liked a better view from the room, but was never in the room anyways

The location was great but no actual beach view, the beach was right across the street and less than 40 feet. The room was clean. The bar was not in the hotel. There is no working bar inside the hotel . The bar is at a "sister" hotel across the street, through an alley and up 2 flights of stairs, it was not convenient for our family, but they do offer complementary drinks, which was very nice

The staff was incredibly kind and truly went above and beyond to accommodate us, which made a huge difference in our experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-kept, and the location couldn’t be more perfect! Anyone complaining about room sizes really should be out exploring instead of sitting inside! We also appreciated how quiet and relaxing everything felt, and even the other guests were friendly, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stress-free, welcoming getaway!

We did not like having to go to the other building to eat breakfast and use the swimming pool. When checking in and out there was not a rack to put luggage on. We would have had to wait for the receptionist to run to the other building for it and leave her desk at a busy time or for us to have to wait until she was not busy, Price for parking was crazy. Parked two bikes in one spot but was charged for two.

Older hotel with decent upkeep. Neighbouring hotel pool access is a great amenity. No hotel parking, but access to valet parking that was supposed to be $35/night (as per email received the night before check-in), but at the hotel it was actually $50/night… which is fairly steep and poor customer service. I addressed this concern via email with the hotel, but never received a reply. We suffered a 5-hour power outage (only a handful of buildings, caused by construction incident) and were kept in the dark (litterally) as to when power may be coming back on. Lines of communication could definitely be improved.

The hotel is in a prime location: walking distance to anything you need, and it is by the beach. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. However, the hotel needs some renovations. We stayed in a standard room (most of the hotel) and I don't know if this applies to the other rooms with "ocean view". First, the rooms are very small, they installed mirror across the beds to make it look bigger. The window shade was bigger than window and stuck, did not move. The window was leaking (it rained during our visit) a bit as well, but we couldn't locate it since the shade did not budge. In my opinion the room also needs a paint job and not in a good condition overall.

stayed there for 5 days and not once they came to clean the room . Not once !! I went to the front desk to complain and nothing was done . I had to asked the front desk for towels and toiletries. I’ve never been to a hotel that would do this . This was unacceptable on so many levels .

There was a blackout one night that started around 9 pm and electricity only came back around 3 am - it was very annoying. Having the breakfast spot and the pool in the President Hotel was also weird, kind of misleading.

Very friendly staff, nice rooms with a view (optional) and very centrally located on Ocean Drive literally a minute's walk from the beach.

Power went out around 0500 and was out until around 0930 and went out again atound 1000. I understand it was out of their control, but guests should be comped for it. Instead, the staff acted as if it wasn't a big deal and we were told to deal with it. This caused the a/c in the rooms to go off and a lack of hot water and yhe ability to dry our hair while trying to get ready for our trip.

It was perfect. It was right across from the beach lots of shops lots of restaurants lovely area.

Website looked much better than it was. Mold in bathroom, cracked mirrors and windows. Restaurant and bar was at sister property through an alley and not much when we got there. We left. Checked out a day early and would have not stayed at all but it was non refundable and we had plans.

Room was good. The hotel makes guest request daily housekeeping. Our room was not cleaned on our first day of stay even after a daily request. Lukewarm apology and we were incorrectly blamed for not requesting daily housekeeping. However, great location. Bathroom water was hot, good temp. No food options offered on site. Lukewarm experience. Staff allowed bags to be kept on last day of stay.

We had a terrific time and we are pretty sure we will be coming back around the same time next year!

The rooftop terrace was an outstanding find for South Beach. Service was exceptional and the private space could not be beat.

Check in was a disaster. No one working so had to figure out how to check in and valet through another hotel. TV channels never loaded. Light bulb burned out in my room. Texted for valet for an early flight. Never got a text that my car was pulled around so went downstairs in a panic and it was sitting there. Added/hidden taxes and fees at check out literally doubled what I thought I was paying through hotels.com.

The staff was very kind and professional. Very helpful too! Went out of their way to help us when we needed it. Our room was very clean, though the curtains were very old and we had trouble opening them to view our ocean view. (Which was stunning by the way!) Overall, though the hotel does show its age in some areas, it was a very pleasant experience and we would recommend! It has been well cared for and the age adds to the buildings charm and character.

Simple, close to the beach, very clean, quiet, staff very polite and helpful, free black coffee in the morning and iced water available all day at lobby area. Beach towel available daily at lobby at no extra cost. We arrived 2 hours earlier day 1 and we were able to check-in at no extra cost. Breakfast available and affordable, please note breakfast and pool was served at president hotel, had to walk there daily ( about 3min walk). I will definitely stay again. We had a great time.

Good for the cost. Location is superb. Pool not on site but located at adjacent property. Coffee available 7:30 am if lucky, not a minute earlier. Bed was excellent, couldn’t hear any noise from other guest rooms. Photos are deceiving in apps. No legit bar on site, again adjacent property and very basic.

Love the additional benefit of The President and their pool. Booked last minute so had a room on the back alley, which was fine. Just a little loud at night. Otherwise a great stay and worth a visit.

Our check in staff was amazing and accommodating. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. They charge for valet parking (which is fine) but we checked on our car 3 times and never got communication/confirmation they actually parked the car. Then we were asked the next morning for a ticket number which we never received. It took almost 25 minutes to get our car at 7am, so it wasn’t that they were busy! There was no remote in our room for the tv and the night front desk person offered no solution, so we had no television. And last but not least, the hot water did not ever warm up in the morning for showers. Overall, pretty disappointed.

We had to wait an additional 45 minutes for our room, there were no outlets near the bed for my husband to use his sleep apnea medical device, and no extension cord was provided when we asked. We did appreciate the extra welcome drink tickets.

Room smells like cigarette smoke. The night staff just said she will bring air freshener. But it never came. We had to sleep with a mask on as the room smells bad. We had to check the next day if we could move to another room. The day staff was very helpful and we got move into another room in the afternoon. Location wise, it's very convenient as it is close the the beach and restaurants.

Clean room, amazing location. We had a small leak in the room due to heavy rain and the staff were quick to offer us another room. We enjoyed our stay.

While the location was great, however, I don't believe the price was worth the stay. Fees for EVERYTHING! additional person, more $$, resort fees $$$$ (and for what?). We had to walk a block away for our paid breakfast, and it wasn't even good. I don't believe this was described in the original signup. The pool was also a block away, not the most convenient. Over all it was just ok, not really worth the money paid.

The things that are free with a normal hotel. To top it off the bed was dirty. Overall the place is bad. I would not recommend this pace to anyone.

Comfortable, clean room. Inefficient check-in process. Bar (& pool ) access thru a dark alley with no signage was creepy. Room location (116) was less than ideal - by the alley access door (constantly opening & closing),next to trash (loud), under a very thin floor (occupied by I can only guess a 500 lb insomniac)

The woman working at the front desk was amazing. She so kind and helpful with everything. We arrived early from a disembarked cruise and she was able to store all of our luggage. Give us nice recommendations for the area and introduce us to the pool in the adjacent property.

The one star rating was only based off the check in process, the stay and the service was delightful after that, a 4 star after the screw up of management!

We always love our stay here! The location is perfect and the staff are all so friendly and helpful! Very clean and comfortable beds! Hopefully the ice machine gets fixed soon! I think they used to have umbrellas and tables out front too which provided more space to hang out with friends and chat! Pool attendant wasn’t so friendly this time as in the past.

The room was clean but the desk chair flimsy. Think IKEA basic chair. When I sat down on it, the chair collapsed. I fell backwards and hit the floor with my head and left shoulder. I filed a report and was told that management would contact me. I haven't heard a word from management.

Excellent Customer Service with the front desk staff. I rented 3 rooms. Unfortunately the elevator wasn't working, again. My parents had to get a regular room o the lower floor with no view. It was their anniversary. I was dissapointed because the rooms were sort of small. I feel management should have approved an extra room since I paid for 3 of the most expensive rooms. The desk did give breakfast vouchers for some of us. I myself loved having the private rooftop terrace. I didn't mind the steps. Overall the plce was very clean and worth staying again if I am in Miami.

Older art Deco hotel in the heart of South Beach Miami. This is the ocean side street you will want to be on if you come to Miami. Beach is across the street and endless restaurants next door. Room was very small and had no view. If you are just there to sleep it’s perfect. If your older and want to sit in room on a balcon and view the ocean, get a 100 story hotel room 10 blocks north. I prefer 4th st to 14th for the night life.

Let’s start with the staff. It’s a mixed batch. Some of them are really helpful but some of them are quite frustratingly terrible. There is a girl who I can’t recall the name of, who is particularly terrible. The hotel’s location is unmatchable. It’s on Ocean drive, in the heart of Art Deco and 2 mins walk from the beach. That doesn’t get any better than this. The rooms themselves are average. They are small and don’t have a lot of space. Cleanliness is reasonable. Nothing to write home about. If your main objective is to spend the night only, it’s worth it definitely. Parking can be a challenge so use their valet but keep in mind it’s expensive. Overall, the location makes it a 4 star for me.

We had ants in the room, on the white desk, bathroom and floor. I showed the pictures and video of them to the front desk. Even so the room was cleaned after we complained, we still had ants in the room. We asked for a manager to contact me, but no one bothered to call me about that.

Location very good. Room clean. bed comfortable. staff let you feel welcomed. But the elevator was down for half the days we stayed which is difficult for nearly 90years old seniors in my group. Front desk did offer a room on first floor but we didn’t take because we wanted to stay together to help them. Valet parking is not convenient because the road at the door front is closed during holiday hours. When the road is open it will be convenient.

This is a very convenient location close to everything great day but my absolute favorite part about this property is the front desk staff especially Carmen. She was very helpful. Very kind. Made this experience much better. Thank you for having us. We would definitely come back here again.

Elevator out of service all three days. Pool and breakfast are at another hotel which is inconvenient for the guests.

The room was smoke filled. I requested Non smoking and yet they put me in a smoky room. Other than getting sick from smoke before my cruise it was ok.

I have been advised to change my room and there were no option given to me with 2 queen bed. Even through I compromised but then I came to know about elevator issue which made my entire stay very painful. I have came here from Canada for family trip and will be going back to my country with bad memories.

Hotel staff gave beach toys for my baby to play. Also gave beach towels. Hotel Bar/breakfast staff helped very well evenings and morning times to provide hot milk for baby and special coffee drink for us. Reception staff helped us to accommodate for early check in at around 12 noon by seeking another alternative bigger room.

Nice clean but a bit run down. The elevator didn’t work and we were on the 3rd floor. The phone in the room didn’t work and the tv didn’t work but they did fix the tv. Beach chairs and beach towels were very old and junkie. Not bad not great best part is the location! Right on the beach!!!

My husband and I were extremely satisfied with our stay at The Penguin Hotel. We arrived mid morning and were greeted by a wonderful person at the front desk. We knew our room would not be ready that early and fully expected to have to wait until the afternoon. The person at the front desk gave us great service. She showed us where we could change, offered us storage for our luggage, gave us towels and chairs for the beach and even gave us a map of the area. She also took our phone number and said that she would call once our room was ready. She did call, and when we got back to the hotel we headed up to our room which was clean and very nice. The hotel is located right on the beach and we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay on South Beach.

This was the cleanest and friendliest hotel we have ever stayed at. We loved our stay and we will be back.

That being said, this hotel is nowhere as nice as the pictures try to depict. Very run down, pool was unusable as it was very inconvenient to get to at a completely separate property. Bar advertised was at a whole third property. We were charged a whole other $77 fee when we arrived, which I was incredibly unhappy about. Absolutely no value in what they offered. The only impressive thing about this hotel is the location.

The hotel was across the street from the beach access. The ocean was visible from our room. The bar and pool were at another property behind the hotel, at a sister hotel, a short walk through an alley. The pool closed at 8pm, we were unable to use it as we arrived around 7pm, so I cannot comment on that. Room was clean, had everything we needed. Front desk staff was courteous and helpful, especially arranging valet pickup on arrival.

The place is okay. We stayed in room 401, which had a big terrace. We booked two nights, but they told us that we could stay in room 401 for only one night and would have to move to another room tomorrow, as this night was a complimentary upgrade. I wasn’t happy about that and asked if we could stay in the same room for the second night, but they said it was already booked. :(

The location for the hotel cannot be beat. It’s right on Ocean Avenue and a two minute walk to South Beach. The staff are very friendly and they can arrange tours of Miami and even help set up rentals for scooters and bicycles. Two free bottles of water in the room and they gave us a beautiful breakfast. Nothing not to like about this hotel.

There is a service charge that is way too much and I am not sure what it covers. They offer no more services than any other hotels, if anything, there are less. Rooftop pool was closed when we tried to access.

Staff was great. Building is clean but old. (Not a deal breaker). What I didn’t like was NO morning coffee and no microwave in the room. Great beach access. The restaurants along the walkways were great!

Everything was great from the time we arrived. We were upgraded to a ocean front suite which was huge and had spectacular views. WE enjoyed the sister hotel just behind it on Collins ave where we received a complimentary welcome beverage and served continental breakfast. The roof top pool area was nice as well. Beach towels and the use of beach chairs was made available as well although we didn't use them. Staff was friendly and very helpful with any questions we had. We really enjoyed sitting on the patio at both the Penguin Hotel and their sister hotel (President) on Collins Avenue. Liked that shops and lots of restaurants were within walking distance and the Beach was literally across the street. We would definitely stay here again.

The bathroom door was frosted glass so privacy was not great. There was no bar even though it said there was. You have to go to another hotel for that. Also, you have to go to another hotel for a pool. No drinks or food allowed at the pool so that was not fun. The staff was friendly and the location was good.

Staff members were ok. The Resort put us in a room the was not beachfront which I paid for for 3 1/2 days of our honeymoon. Only offered Pennie’s for the inconvenience this caused us on our honeymoon. 3 1/2 days go by another broken promise to be moved up to the beach front suit that I paid for. Forth day got a call and had to wait downstairs for 4 1/2 hours very uncomfortably. Finally we got the correct room around 4:30pm. So we spent the last three days in the correct room. Nice view customer service not so much.

The Hotel itself wasn't terrible, it was clean and close to the beach but to charge a resort fee is honestly laughable. There is nothing at the Hotel, if you wanna use the pool, enjoy the free drink and breakfast you have to go to the "sister property". I mean I should have just booked there!! It was highly inconvenient to park which was only Valet that cost us $40! And only available til midnight! Overall i wouldn't stay here again. Not what I expected at all.

We loved our stay. The staff was so welxoming and kind to us and our children. The ocean facing room was great. The housekeeping staff was very accommodating. We had breakfast included which was a buffet. Pretty convenient. Definitely recommend. Ruby carmen and all the staff were so sweet.

Penguin is a 3 star hotel that try’s hard to please. Rooms are clean, small and comfortable. Hot breakfast and beach front near restaurants, pharmacies and shopping are a plus.

LOCATION LOCATION QUIET PRICE

The pool has been closed for months, which they don’t tell you until the day before you check in. You have to pay a resort fee, but no breakfast is included. Save your money and stay at any other Miami hotel where the resort fee gets you a nice breakfast in the morning.

Great location right on Ocean Drive at a very affordable price. The breakfast was good, and the bar offered a complimentary welcome drink. The mattress was comfortable with just the right firmness — I slept very well and had no back pain. I can confidently recommend this hotel!

I would definitely stay at this property again. The only thing, is you have to walk next door to eat breakfast. And the pool that you have to use is also on another property but it’s closed right now. However the woman that checked us in gave us extra drink vouchers to make up for it. Great little hotel with friendly staff

This was a great spot in Miami Beach for the end of our trip. Very central location and a quick walk to the beach. We were grateful that they also had availability so we could add an extra night in the same room since we were affected by the airline strike. Really appreciated getting beach towels and even sand toys for kids.

The pictures are very deceiving. The room was very small. No room to really put your luggage. They charge for amenities and had a sign up stating that the pool was going to be closed. Also was charged for an ocean view room and the ocean was not visible. Also was charged for a king size bed in which the bed was a queen/full. Decided to stay overnight because it was late. Stayed less than 24 hours and was charged for a full night. Was able to get a refund for the remaining nights we booked and went to stay somewhere else.

The property was in a great location. Close to all bars and restaurants and the beach! I was disappointed that the pool and bar shown was not at this resort. It was at a sister resort on the back street. Really inconvenient for the kids. Overall it was good though.

Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Nice park across the street with the beach beyond that. Bed not very comfortable…

Staff was super accommodating & the hotel was very clean. However, the pool wasn’t open & there wasn’t much to make up for the inconvenience besides a free drink.

Great location, very clean, we got greeting drinks. The only negative thing was the “hidden” resort fee per night that was not included in the original price but it appears to be a normal thing in USA these days. Would have appreciated more information about that during the booking.

Was safe and quiet for a family 4-night stay, perfect location on ocean drive across beach.. but away from any noise, inside or out. Rooms was small and basic, lacklustre, but did the job, was really just looking for a place to sleep and a good location for affordable price.

Perfect location! Super close to the beach, near lots of restaurants, etc. Bed was super comfy and staff very friendly! We had issues with our flight being cancelled and we had to come later than planned, and they were very accommodating. The breakfast was also really good!! Was great for our vacation and would definitely stay here again!!

The hotel stay was great. We had no issue with the room. It was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Our problem was the pool. We were there for three days and could not use the pool. They were doing maintenance on the pool, and they kept telling us it will be fixed, but never did get fixed during our stay. When I inquired about some type of refund, all I got was a pass for a free breakfast, which was a $10 value. We were there celebrating my daughter's high school graduation. One of the main reasons I chose the hotel was because they had a pool. I just feel that we should have received a partial refund since we couldn't use the pool during our entire stay. Honestly not sure I would go back!

The location on beach front with nothing but the park and the palms in front, 2mins walk to the sea, in the middle of the lively Art Deco area and a block from a Walgreens for water and other forgotten bits is absolutely perfect. Breakfast is really good with hot and cold options and again, lovely staff doing all they can to help. There were always loungers at the pool, which could do with a better filter as it wasn’t that clean sadly. Our room was spotless and had two queens which were extremely comfortable, the wardrobe area kept out stuff out of the way which was perfect and the shower was a great pressure. I would say a few hooks around the place to hang stuff would be brilliant as no room to hang 3 towels when wet. I think it would be nicer to have frosted glass in the main room window as having the blind down all the time was a bit miserable, but saying that, we were only in the room for changing and sleeping and packing. If you are staying for more than a few nights, with 3 or 4, I would say to get a bigger room. All in all, we loved everything about the Penguin and no reason to go anywhere else if we return to Miami. Thank you x

Very cute property- was just looking for a one night stay before boarding a cruise and this was perfect- got to have dinner on Ocean Ave and walk to the beach across the street - staff was also very helpful and property was super clean.

The room is old and small. But, the worst is a really really really noisy AC that it is waking up all of us during the whole night stopping and starting all the time.

Didn't get to go to the pool since its in another building.

Excellent place

Parking, drinks, breakfast and pool are all at The President so that would probably be a beater option of the two. Overall still a nice hotel with a nice view of the ocean and beach from our room.
