The customer experience was exceptional. The location is superb, offering a prime ocean view. The complimentary amenities were a significant highlight.

It’s a shame that one reception staff ruins this review. Don’t know his name, buts African and wears glasses (I’m African too, just in case). He was unreasonably rude to simple questions about dinner times that I asked in a friendly manner. Not acceptable. By the way, breakfast was 08.00 - 10.00 on weekdays. The pictures of the Pelican Hotel on Hotels.com aren’t accurate- probably photoshopping. Furniture and flooring are generally old. The bathroom is the best space in my room. The hotel is located on a busy road outside the beach, so it was noisy at night time.

We had a beautiful stylish (50’s) room with sea view including a great breakfast. The sea is just one minute walk across the legendary Ocean Drive. What a marvellous beach.. the water is so nice that you can stay for hours The music from all sides might be a bit annoying if you are looking only for tranquillity, but who would want that in South Beach …

Breakfast was excellent and included in the rent. Great location in the middle of South Beach. Quiet room considering being in the middle of the action. Art deco style. Room 304 was a bit on the small side as I was travelling with a collegue. Bathroom quite spacious. Parking is very expensive when travelling by car.

Complimentary American breakfast between 7-11AM and a free drink (5-7pm) was included with our reservation which made they stay that much more enjoyable. Shower pressure was good which something I always take into consideration when booking a hotel. Just make sure to adjust that hot water valve carefully or you will get burned as that hot water was scolding hot. Hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. Cons: View from the room was not the best (i.e., staring at a side of the adjacent building) unless you book the beach view rooms. Complimentary breakfast was limited to only (3) options although they had several other items on their menu. Some fixtures in the bathroom shelf were broken/falling down. Valet parking had been excessively long wait times (20-30 minutes) even though their wasn’t anyone else getting a car as the parking garage is 2 blocks away. Despite the latter, I still give them 5 stars as me and my wife still enjoyed the overall experience and weekend getaway.

Location, very nice small hotel. Good breakfast included, room cleaning every day, 2 bottles of water every day. Nice stuff on reception. Impolite waiters, serving breakfast as if they were doing a favor, with an arrogant expression on their faces.Common guys, do you really think you're in charge there?!

On top of the looks, the complimentary perks were very generous. Free breakfast, daily cocktails, and beach chairs/towels were much appreciated. Would stay again!

Lovely bones but the room in which I stayed is in dire need of a refresh. Probably hasn’t been touched in decades, and sadly that shows. Also a very strange man on reception who wasn’t particularly friendly.

The location is ideal for those wanting to stay on ocean drive. The staff were great both in the restaurant and maids. We had an issue with our AC which took a while to resolve but it was resolved

Reception staff was awesome. Older barman was really friendly making sure I knew about comp drink 4-7pm. Santos my waiter was super attentive, efficient and friendly during my evening meal. Wasn’t too happy when busboy took my table light and replaced it with broken one while I was still seated during my meal. My good light he gave to another table! Countless times I found it very difficult to get in and out of the hotel with an older man (maitre d?) trying to solicit diners on the sidewalk every time… sometimes chatting with friends or other waitstaff. He knew I was a guest of the hotel and made no effort to step aside each time. I was not greeted at all when entering or exiting the hotel by him. Besides that, I loved my room and the location of the hotel.

Art Deco architecture of the hotel which is situated right on the beachfront with heaps of Alfredo dining in front of hotel and surrounding areas. Whole area of South Miami very clean. Roof top area only open certain days, luckily we went up there on our last night there which was a Wednesday.

Excellent location, right on ocean drive, in the thick of all the madness! Can walk to most places which is fabulous. Really well decorated building on the outside and ground floor. Rooms are a little worn out in real life Night time staff asleep when we got back home You can’t drink bathroom water, but staff refuse to give you more than one (very small) bottle of water every day Reception staff seem a little disjointed - didn’t reply to emails We had a suite and were 3 in a room, but only got 2 of everything (towels, mugs, robes etc) refused Noise from cleaning staff in corridor woke us up every morning Aircon was very high, you cannot control from the room yourself so we needed to call reception every day Dining staff quite rude out front. Website says 20% off food, but that wasn’t applied even when asked

Incredible location with lovely terrace for drinks and eating with views across to South Beach. Room was lovely and the restaurant/bar staff all super friendly - the happy hour drinks are an amazing perk! Breakfast was great. Beach towels provided. Minor thing, the elevator is very loud when it arrives on floors. We were at the other end of the corridoor from the elevator and the dinging woke us up a few times. Very minor! But I could imagine if you struggle to sleep this could be frustrating.

The location is of course excellent! A very short walk to the beach as it's right opposite! And the staff were all brilliant, the rooms were quiet and very modern and clean + the little extras they give as a guest such as evening dinner discount and a free cocktail between 4-7. We'll definitely stay again. The shower was a bit weak, the rooftop terrace wasn't open and we were really excited to sit up there and we were so keen to grab a t-shirt each from the hotel shop, but they were too expensive!

Fun hotel! Great decor, had a great mix of art deco and fun concepts that tied in. Room was nice size, clean, comfortable bed. Restaurant was very good. Location is great, right by the park and the beach, but still quiet at night.

Costs were slightly excessive - we didn’t get the room we had booked. The resort fee was a bit disappointing as it didn’t include an umbrella at the beach (just chairs). We were also charged $75 for a crib for our 2 year old…

Location was amazing! The staff was welcoming and helpful. Each room had a different theme so it was fun to try to peak in the room if the doors were open for housekeeping. The breakfast was table service and cooked to order. Each afternoon we were reminded to take advantage of our complimentary drink. We will definitely be back!

The sink tap in the bathroom wasn’t working: no hot water and very low flow.

Amazing staff and best location.

The staff were amazing and really helpful. Placing tables together for our group, helping with luggage store and baggage. The hotel also has a designated spot on the beach and beach towels. Check in was really good… We arrived early, so we left our bags in the hotel whilst we wandered along Ocean Drive. The hotel then contacted us via WhatsApp to let us know when our room was ready. Our room was extremely clean and there was a lovely fresh smell in the communal areas. Towels and toiletries were of a very good quality and the bed was super comfortable. A lovely of roof top and bar with great views. The room was a little on the small side but adequate for our 1 night stay (bohemian queen room). Our room was a the back of the hotel which was great as it was so much quieter than being at the front of the hotel and all of the noice from Ocean Drive. Our room also included a very good breakfast. We will definitely visit this hotel again in the future.

The location on Ocean Drive is excellent—perfect for enjoying the oceanfront atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

Night staff was very friendly and room was clean. Would not recommend their “valet parking” as it was expensive and car was not returned to hotel. Cost is overpriced for a parking service and was not true valet parking. It required us to pack our backs to the parked car, blocks away.

The location is fantastic. Best onsite included breakfast we have ever had. The staff were really great. Just a great stay for us. Nothing really.

Hotel location is in the center of everything, close to the beach. Restaurant service is quite good as well as the room size. Breakfast is very limited, less quantities. One of the receptionists was super rude and disrespectful during the checkout despite my help to him after missing to bill one of the items. My room desperately needs maintenance. Restroom has leakage, take shower and the water will be literally everywhere.

The hotel staff were top-notch. We had a rather challenging trip (flight delays, other hotel cancellations) and they made sure to accommodate all our needs. We are so thankful for their professional customer service.

Special call out to the staff. The receptionist on when we arrived (I think his name was Wendal) was brilliant, great sense of humour. The location is right on South Beach - but beware it can be very noisy at night. The hotel is in the heart of the party area. The rooms are all themed. Our room was to the side of the hotel and we had no noise but at the front of the hotel you might find it noisy - we did hear people complaining about noise. If you want the sea view you'll be above the restaurants and you will get noise. It's an old art deco period building but well maintained, lots of cool features. Breakfast selection is good, not cheap but the view in the morning is amazing. If you are coming to enjoy the party vibe of South Beach in the evening and/or the healthy vibe during the day, you'll love it. The penthouse acted as a party zone when we were there, great rooftop terrace area outside looking over the ocean. The shower temperature was hard to control - cold then very hot then cold then......it's an old building. The safe in our room, while functional and a good size, was not actually bolted down, you could get into the room and literally pick the safe up and take it away - not great. There was also a door to an adjoining room which had no lock - the other room has the same (so two doors with handles on one side back to back but no locks). I'd have preferred a lock or at least a bolt on that door.

Not much. The decor, room paint/color was early 20th century. Room was smelly. You couldn't open the window because the noise from a dozen or so air conditioners in the alley flooded the room and was overwhelming. There was no Kettle, / tea/ coffee in the room. The receptionist was nearly brazen and totally unsympathethic to our needs.

The check out person in charge was not friendly, I asked to leave my luggage while I went to get the car, he complained about where I put it, how I put it, even how I put my purse on the table!!!!….I obviously am not paying to be treated like this, less for my young son to watch. We had a discussion and even told him to STOP BEING SO MEAN!! The rest was fine. Left with a bad feeling. Not happy at all.

This property is amazing! The location is fabulous. Everything about this hotel was perfect! The things we loved: 1. With your stay you get access to beach chairs that are set up and ready for you along with nice big beach towels. There is also a place to buy sodas and snacks where your chairs are. It’s about a 2 minute walk across the street. 2. The hotel has a happy hour where guest will get a free drink. I had the best mojito of our whole trip at the bar. The food is also great! 3. The breakfast was amazing. I would go back just for that! I’ll include a pic. They also have good coffee. 4. Every single staff member we met was so nice and welcoming. We loved it all.

The basic queen room is tiny. Sheets are scratchy and towels were as well. Elevator dings and you can hear it at the end of the hallway and in your room. Hallways are loud and nothing to absorb sound so you hear everything in your room.

He gave us recommendations on shopping and where to eat, which did not disappoint! The Mojitos that we got for free happy hour were absolutely amazing! We will definitely stay here again! Oh, and the speakeasy upstairs super cute!

Staff members were great and very helpful! The rooms are not high class but clean. We had to change the room because the first one was too loud for us due to a big machine outside. Unfortunately, we had some issues with the breakfast. We paid a lot for the included breakfast but we had to explain it to the staff every morning. This was exhausting. Also looking at the breakfast prices we could just pay at place and we would have more options and good coffee… In my opinion, the price for the hotel was too high for the offer. You could finde better ones at south beach.

Loved staying at the Pelican! It was right in the heart of the South Beach action and so stylish and comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. Will stay here again!

A historic and ideally located property right by the beach with a helpful and very accommodating staff. Beautiful renovations highlight the retro-design which creates a relaxing environment of quality and sophistication without feeling too pretentious or haughty. Highly recommended.

Enjoyable hotel - beds are hard as rocks. I called down the evening we checked in but they could not get me a topper because house keeping was already gone. I had to sleep in a chair that was in the room. These aren’t firm beds, their boards.

The Pelican was fabulous! The staff was amazing and so friendly! Felt very taken care of! Also enjoyed the free happy hour drink and the discounted meals at the restaurant! Highly recommend!!

I stayed here about 15 years ago and loved it so much I came back. It was even better this time. Great locations and so walkable. Staff was friendly and we loved Edwin!

Quick overnight in Miami and the Pelican is my go to in South Beach. Great Location. Staff is friendly. Rooms are clean and just a great all around hotel in area

Everything was good except for one gentleman at midnight working there had an attitude when we were trying to valet proceeded to explain to me that he knows how cars work.

The property was very nice for what you pay for a spring break week. I liked the hotel alot but wasn't really a fan of south Miami beach. Next time I will stay a little further south but this hotel was very nice.

Parking was a disaster..cost us an additional $200 due to lack of communication. Valet parking was not available and we were expected to park our car ourselves, it was spring break traffic. We were given the wrong address to park and the traffic was brutal. We finally found parking after 2hrs of circling around and hotel said they would not pay for it. This completely ruined our night in Miami, the hotel follow was brutal. I would never recommend staying her if you need parking.

Arrived very early …room not ready but wasn’t told we had access to beach chairs across the street till much later in day when room was open. The did honor the free drink but we weren’t told you had to use by a certain time in a specific location. They just to be more efficient with the information.

Wonderful experience from check in to check out. Service and food were excellent. The room was super cool, clean and comfortable. Will be back again. Thank you for a great night stay.

Friendly staff, very nice rooms (201 & 203) with a great ocean view and an lot of space. The restaurant is also very good and the rooftop was really nice and cozy. The Hotel offered free sun-beds at the beach (you have to pay for the umbrella if you need one).

Quick get away. Location was wonderful. Breakfast was excellent. Loved having a different cocktail each evening

The only downside was that because of the exciting location and outlook it was a bit noisy at night, but in our view a price worth paying.

We had a wonderful stay at the Pelican. The staff went above and beyond for us. The food was delicious. The location was excellent, close to everything. Even appreciated the nice bath products.

Room was kept clean all the time, very happy about that! The staff members were very attentive and cordial. The location is great, in the middle of everything but room was quiet and nice. The speakeasy rooftop bar was amazing and special. I’d stay here again. Thank you!

This property had a unique style and it was really close to the beach and also really walkable area!

The property was very clean. The rooms have some interesting decor but it fit well with the overall theme of the hotel. Will definitely stay again.

Great location, cheap and easy valet parking, and an excellent restaurant serving authentic Italian food and a very good breakfast reduced for guests, all excellent quality food and ingredients.

Fanatastic location; minutes from the beach; walkable to all sights and shopping; wonderful staff; fabulous food and drinks at the restaurant on site.

This time nothing. We spent an additional $440 on food latte and drinks. They even charged us for to go coffee as we departed and it was $14.

Love the colourful room decor, especially the tiles. Great view of the beach and easy walk to anywhere in south beach. The whole experience was so art deco.

The shear experience of this Art Deco hotel was perfect. From the nostalgic feel of the entire property to the quirky 'named' rooms each with a different personality was fun and entertaining simply as an experience of its own. Every staff member, from front desk to hotel restaurant members were super nice and friendly. Special shout out to Jessica who helped us with dinner and drink, so friendly and sweet. Regarding expectation, the rooms are full of personality, but didn't book for view or size. We were very comfortable and happy in our Art Deco room, just didn't have a view. Didn't stay here for an ocean view, we spent all our time on the beach anyway. This Hotel has a deal for Chairs on the beach which came in super helpful and was a much appreciated suprise since we flew in, didn't drive. i don't have experience with other properties in South Beach, but Pelican was perfect for our first visit.

It wasn't a stay , the problem is The hotel removed my room and then tells me i have to get a smaller room . I called both parties they kept referring me to the each other . The back and Forth of talking to them . Now Im stuck with a bill that I didnt even use.

Love the hotel so much we extended our stay. Each room is unique so it was fun to move rooms and see the unique design and attention to detail. The staff was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. Valet were able to have our car waiting for us outside at 6:45 for our departure. Can’t wait to stay here again.

This is my favorite place I have ever stayed in Miami. The staff if very attentive and professional. The property is beautiful with perfect period design. We loved it so much we extended our stay .

We missed our connecting flight and had to spend 2 days in Miami. Thankfully the room service was still available. Staff was very nice! The room was much smaller than advertised. Not thrilled about paying a resort fee considering they had no amenities.

From the moment we walked in the door, we were welcomed by everyone. Cleanliness was great, rooms were kept well. I love that each room has its own theme and decor. We can’t wait to stay again to see what some of the other rooms look like. We always had fresh towels and never had to ask for a thing.

Only complaint would be the need was very hard in our room. They tried to provide some additional cushion by housekeeping.

We love the Pelican on Miami Beach. It has style and personality and is right across from the beach. The staff is friendly and attentive. Great coffee in a perfect setting in the morning.

The property was very clean, and the staff was extremely helpful and courteous. I did not like the $300 security deposit that still has not been returned. Food was fairly expensive and nothing special. We were told that our wristbands were for two free drinks, but it was a buy one get one free. The drinks were 24.00 and 18.00.

My family and I had to evacuate for a hurricane, with our animals and the entire staff was very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend! I will be going back for sure!

Lovely clean room. Great service. The hotel staff were very courteous and the restaurant food was really good. I had a pasta dish for dinner which felt very authentic. They offer a breakfast deal for guests at an affordable price. I recomend and would stay there again

We arrived at 9am, and they set us up in a room well before check in. The room had a retro feel and was immediately welcoming, and so quiet! It was clean and we slept great! The staff was very accommodating filling our water bottles for our trip to the cruise ship. There is a long line of hotels on the Miami Beach strip, but The Pelican won’t do you wrong if you stay there! - they offered a free afternoon drink, and our perfect $10 breakfast was hand delivered by the cook. So nice!
