    I had high hopes for this hotel. It was horrific. I understand it’s on the beach and there is noise, but the walls are so thin and everyone is screaming at 1am. The hotel staff does nothing and they are the worst part. They do nothing. They sit there and act like they will help and then just go back on their phone. I will say the cleaning staff is top tier and they do extremely well cleaning rooms. I will never stay here again and will tell those that ask me to not as well.

    Proximity to the beach was great, but it was noisy. There’s restaurants all aligned below lots of people and our shower leaked onto the floor every time we showered the bed was too tall for me to even get on no refrigerator no real coffee pot no breakfast.

    We stayed here the week of May 17 and I was very disappointed… it’s right on the south beach tourist strip, which was convenient. The ocean was right across from the hotel, which was great, but the ocean and sand was terrible in this location. Seaweed and moss everywhere on the beach in the water was not a clean beach or nice water for photos or to go in.. the hotel staff was cocky and arrogant. The female that checked us in was not accommodating with our luggage as check-in would not be till 4 PM and we arrived at 1 PM. She made me carry my own luggage to the storage room and said I’m not the person who does that. I’m just the person at the front desk and walked me to the storage room although she could have helped.. She had an attitude as well. The photos on Expedia make it look super upper class and elegant and it’s cheap wooded furniture that has been refurnished. The one chair had slashes and rips in it. Everything is done very cheaply to make it look nicer than it actually is. Some of the fans and lighting didn’t work. The water took 5 to 10 minutes to get warm.. It was not good at all. The food from there was not the best either the bartenders were OK although slightly on the arrogant side. We ate at the Avalon, which was right next-door. They had amazing food, a beautiful, elegant, classy outdoor space. I would recommend them over this place in a heartbeat..

    I had a beach front room. The view was beautiful. Staff was pleasant, friendly and polite. The rooms were clean but the bathroom was small, out dated and the tub, shower door was broken and tub paint was chipped. Tub was so old it looked dirty. Besides that I will stay here again. Very close to everything

    Don’t expect much for the price you’re paying. The location is great, right across from the beach, with a lot of restaurants and bars to choose from. They provide beach chairs and towels. Staff is friendly and helpful.

    I booked this trip spontaneously and after read reviews and I was nervous. Due to its location and age, the hotel was nice. My room was clean and though some items can use a refresh (such as the glass night stand) overall it was a good stay. Elevator was operational the entire time. Chairs and towels provides for the beach are a great touch. It was pretty quiet especially for its location. Staff was helpful and available as needed.

    Lift worked without problem Room regularly cleaned Air conditioner works well Hot water for shower available all the time . Magnetic key card had to be fixed every other day. Definitely I will come back

    On a positive note, the staff were very pleasant, friendly, and accommodating throughout our stay. Their excellent customer service was appreciated and helped make the experience more enjoyable. The Beacon has great potential, but it would greatly benefit from updating the carpets and replacing or repairing the doors. We hope to see improvements in the future, as we have fond memories of our previous visit.

    The location was perfect, also having beach chairs and towels available for free was really nice. Coffee in the lobby was appreciated, the staff were very helpful. But, the property is really rundown, it has serious problems with the humidity in the rooms, that sticky feeling on your skin simply awful otherwise I'd rated better, but that was a no for me. They need to fix that problem ASAP.

    The location was Excellent, 15% off their restaurant for any meals. Staff was very helpful when it came to accommodating a rear situation, my partner’s wallet went missing they were able to print out Identification for use. Grateful for that!! However I would not rebook; firstly the key to our rooms were not activated properly causing us to come back to the front desk with our belongings to activate the key correctly. The room cleanliness was terrible, all we smelled was a dirty mop of bleach or a dirty cleaning cloths As if it was used from previous room cleaning without washing to properly sanitize. The hallway smelled just like musk, wet carpets where I slipped as I was walking to my room, while wearing sneakers!! 😥I hurt my bottom on the tiles where the carpet ended. This needs to be better Not safe & there were not wet floor signs.

    The hotel was very nice. Tho the rooms were outdated they were clean and well maintained. Room service was trustworthy. They do not offer on site parking so valet was very good. It was 50$ per day and 24 hour service huge plus! The coffee the offer in the lobby was never equipped with coffee supplies for use but I just asked and they quickly got it. Over all I would definitely recommend this hotel! I went with my son and one of the latch locks were broken when we realized they quickly moved into another room.

    There was not much to like. The rooms are tiny and run down. Mold and rusty. My door had to be slammed shut and hard time to open every time I had to open the room. No ice machine. There are no amenities at this hotel. They have beach chairs but gave me one that was rusty and had to ask to exchange. This hotel needs a whole renovation. Staff doesn’t sweep or pick up garbage from the floor when they service your room. They just do the beds and change the towels.

    Perfecf location if you want to stay ON South Beach. They provide towels for the beach also. The beds are comfy, staff were friendly and the price point is affordable. There is a restaurant on site.

    This hotel was a last minute booking, the room was very small, tub very narrow, and there was no place to really store your things. No counter space or dressers to place things in or on. No room to hang clothes either, there was 3 hangers in the closet, which was occupied by the fridge and safe! Plus side, it’s across the street from the beach 👍…. AC was great! They have Netflix on the remote but there was no access to it! This place gets 3 stars from me!

    Hotel was super convenient with our work location directly on South Beach. It rained alot during our work stay, so we were able to run to our room easily. Convenient with a restaurant on the premises with good pasta, and a CVS directly next door. Room was small, but most of the hotels on South Beach were built small back in the day and were basically there for your sleep. For myself, location was everything.

    My body rested laid down during all night in a "v" shape causing lower back pain. The pillows were terrible as well. The restroom door is a glass door that gives you little privacy in case you have another person with you. That made me to checkout one day before my 5 days stay and go to another place. The surroundings are full of people high on something. The price was attractive, but if you care about quality, go for another place.

    The photos that was posted looked really catfish especially the rooms and the front desk staff didn’t know how to adjust anything and she couldn’t get in contact with the owners, the rooms were not fully cleaned and they overcharge us because they blessed up the dates and said different days or more expensive which I felt was a lie because they was nothing listed like that before booking. Never again

    Very small bathroom. No microwave. Room looked like I paid 50 dollars a night. Socket outlets was located in bad areas of the room so walk with extension cords. Light fixtures were horrible. The bathroom had a sharp edged metal stand for the soap and shampoo that cut my arm. I just wanted to be by the beach and restaurants so I made it work. I wont recommend.

    because it's an art deco hotel I expected a little dated but this was next level awful experience. air conditioning units in both rooms were loud and everything everywhere smelled old and like bleach. the shower was a complete liability and I cannot believe they can operate in business no matter how convenient. Staff at front desk were always unfriendly.

    I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The room was dirty, smelled strongly of mildew, and overall cleanliness was unacceptable.     The beach view is obstructed. We had requested an ocean view room and when we checked in we were told no rooms had an ocean view. Our fob reader was falling off the door and worked about 1 out of 3 times when we were trying to get into the door. The products in the shower were empty. When we asked for beach towels at the desk, which is listed as an amenity, we were told to take towel from our room. Our bathroom ceiling had clearly had a leak that was never repaired and the ceiling around the lights was brown and crumbly and there were holes where chunks of ceiling were gone. The gym was a room the size of a closet with broken treadmill and some weights. Kids walk in off the street and were making a mess while we were in there and it forced us out. The elevator was also deemed unsafe by the FD and there was all the citations and papers on the desk yet no one took it out of service. Nightmare.

    The room was pretty awful - hotel is in a great location which is the saving grace for this place. If you don’t want to spend ANY time in the room, just crashing at the end of a long day…then maybe this place could work. Otherwise try somewhere else. Just a few items which were awful about the room - peeling paint everywhere, spray painted tile in the bath surround, nasty looking tiled floor with very black and dirty looking grout, tacky fridge placed in the corner of the room, no coffee, rotten woodwork…basically the place needs a complete remodel. The courtyard directly outside of the room was much more pleasant than the room itself. We would not stay again.

I was told by the lady at the front desk that I would be able to cancel the entire reservation due to the poor quality of the room. I will say definitely do not go through a 3rd party, Booking.com only credited me $68 and my husband and I only walked in the room never sat down, did not stay one night and payed for two, and a convince fee for $100. We were out of $700 we weren’t even there 10 mins. We had to pay for another room for the two nights in Miami. This was the worse experience ever. Still surprised booking.com couldn’t do more I sent pics of the rust and mold as asked and nothing changed. Please do better. If I was a single mom with my kids what would I have done, paid for another room or go home and ruin our vacation. Can you imagine how much money they get to keep when people are not satisfied with the condition of their rooms. And believe me when I say it was the filthiest hotel I have even been in and my family travel often. Oh and the elevator was really scary there was a hole in the floor that my purse could’ve fell in and never recovered. Everything that was metal or supposed to be stainless steel was rusty and everything that was near water had mold and mildew and it was painted over. It smelled like bleach to contain the foul orders. It was hairs on the floor of the bathroom and all appliances were old and extremely outdated nothing looked like any of the pictures on their website . I spent over $1000 for two nights due to not being able to stay at the Beacon hotel. It is historic but they hadn’t cleaned since the movie Scarface was filmed and I know it’s not due to lack of funds. Booking.com represented them as well with the pictures of the rooms and accommodations. We later googled the hotel and oh my they got so many compliments and Booking.com are aware as well. Oh and the elevator was really scary there was a hole in the floor that my purse could’ve fell in and never recovered. Everything that was metal or supposed to be stainless steel was rusty and everything that was near water had mold and mildew and it was painted over. It smelled like bleach to contain the foul orders. It was hairs on the floor of the bathroom and all appliances were old and extremely outdated nothing looked like any of the pictures on their website . I spent over $1000 for two nights due to not being able to stay at the Beacon hotel. It is historic but they hadn’t cleaned since the movie Scarface was filmed and I know it’s not due to lack of funds. Booking.com represented them as well with the pictures of the rooms and accommodations. We later googled the hotel and oh my they got so many compliments and Booking.com are aware as well.     Room was clean and overall nice bed was terrible so sunken in that the second night we sleep sideways at top and bottom to avoid sunken area. Staff at check in and out were nice, no complementary breakfast and restaurant attached to hotel wasn’t good sent my wife’s dinner back. Complementary beach chairs and towels but did not use them. Good location also two blocks away from 7th parking garage.

    The property is older but has a lot of character. Not a 4 or 5 star property but the location, history and staff make this hotel great. I love a franchise hotel so this was out of my norm but I enjoyed it. You can walk EVERYWHERE from this hotel. A lot of popular movies was shot at this hotel so it makes it even cooler. Ocean view from the room was beautiful to wake up too!

    Beacon Hotel is in an excellent location. Across from the beach and surrounded by many stores and eateries. The food at their own restaurant, Oseteria, was absolutely delicious and our server, a tall gentleman, was amazing. Room was small, but very clean. We had a good experience.

    Good : bed was decent, sheets nice Proximity to beach can’t be beat. Very close. Great area. Helpful staff outdoor lounge area was nice with the swings and chairs. Bad: No matter what time of night it was, the room was bright like dawn / dusk. There was an alley light that was bright as fk and there was no window covering on the bathroom window. This wouldn’t be an issue if the g bathroom door wasn’t made of glass! I have never experienced a room so bright in my life. Even the man door, albeit probably many years old, let light through the edges. Noise / to be expected for the area so whatever - but not quiet if you want to sleep before 11pm. The light switch was halfway out of the junction box and super sketchy.

    1st it’s very mediocre. Rooms are not updated. Elevator not working so we had to climb 3floors to our room. Check in was at 3pm. I checked in online before check in. Arrived at Hotel and room wasn’t ready, but other guests rooms were ready and I had been waiting for hours. I was told my room wasn’t ready because I wasn’t face the street view and I had a king. I asked if they had a queen ready I’d take that instead of a queen if that’s what taking so long. However, I needed help printing my boarding pass for my cruise ship, and the clerk helped me out tremendously getting it printed because something wasn’t working with sending it to the hotel email. Although, she accommodated me with the printing. I will not be staying at this establishment again.

    Hello me and my 2 friends recently stayed at this hotel for about 4 nights and we wanted to share our experience. During our stay we noticed that our room was making us extremely stuffy. One of us is actually highly allergic to mold so during our stay she started to have breakouts and we felt stuffy almost every night. There was a few times when we requested towels from the cleaning ladies and they were extremely rude and would say no. We kept our composure then one day we asked again and the lady very rudely said no again then we asked if the least they could do was clean our room since we were headed out in 10-15 mins they also said no in a very rude tone. We went to the front and expressed our experience with the cleaning ladies and then asked if we could at least get our room cleaned by the time we get back which would’ve been a few hours. When arriving back we returned a few hours later and a do not disturb sign was put on our door and our room was not cleaned. We once again returned to the front and expressed how we asked hours prior to get our room cleaned and asked them to check their cameras because we were met with rudeness and didn’t even receive service. We were told they were actively cleaning our room then returned no one even returned to our room. We had enough and asked the front desk woman to talk to a supervisor or at least be given their number so that we can give her a call and she refused. I would write more but there is a limit, but very unprofessional

    Rooms are really small and smelled like mildew. The elevator didn’t work so everyone had to use stairs.the only parking is valet which is $50 a night and no one is ever at the stand and the code you scan will tell you car will be there in 20 minutes but will really take over 40 minutes to get car. And there was never anyone at front desk to help you they will leave you standing there for 20 minutes. Only good part about this hotel is the location

    This place is an absolute dump outside of location. Elevators broken and had to climb 3 flight of stairs with 5 bags. There was zero hot water in the shower and only respond from maintenance was “building is old and that’s normal”. My whole family has to take cold showers for the entire stay. Phone was broken so could call front desk had to walk up and down to talk to someone. Room cleaning didn’t come to and had to make our own beds, take out our own dirty towels. Management didn’t seem to really care either. Easily the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Shocking how this place is still in business.

    Our room wasn’t ready at 4:00 PM, and when it finally was, the elevator was broken. We had to carry our luggage up four flights of stairs, which was extremely inconvenient. We had booked an “ocean front” room that was advertised as including a small kitchen area — however, there was no kitchen at all. The room also had two adjoining doors connecting to neighboring rooms. They were thin, wooden doors that did not feel secure, and this made us uncomfortable. Despite all of this, we were still willing to stay — until we saw the bathroom. It was absolutely unclean and unacceptable. That was the final straw. We stayed less than two hours before booking another hotel and leaving. The property refused to issue a refund. Thankfully, because we booked with American Express, they reviewed the situation and issued a full refund due to unsanitary conditions and false advertising of the room amenities. Additionally, the atmosphere of the hotel felt chaotic, with excessive noise and strong odors in common areas, which further reflected the overall condition of the property. I would not recommend staying here.

    The room was neglected dust everywhere, tiles in the shower were warping and broken not mention I almost slipped in the shower, the shower only had one glass door so water could spill out but that shower typically has two sliding doors. Our fan could not turn on and off nor the light and it wasn’t attached the ceiling, emergency sprinklers covered in dust and paint. The door to the room didn’t latch well. We asked for new towels and did not receive them and my husband had to go get them himself three hours later.

    The staff was very nice. The room was cool and clean, however the building is very old (like most other hotels in the area). That being said, given the other hotels in the area, I think this one is one of the better ones and the location is great bc it is far away from the "problem child" hotels on the strip, yet close to great food choices. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is bc the pillows were extremely uncomfortable and super stiff, like they were filled with cardboard. I almost gave it three, but given this info I think 4 is fair. I would rate 3.75 if I could...

    The bed was comfortable enough for us but if you need a lot of support you may not appreciate the bed. Room is dated; they had newer a/c and ceiling fan but the microwave didn’t work, fixtures and shower head are old and I wore slippers when I walked around the room bc I felt like the room needed a good cleaning; I always disinfect our room with Clorox wipes. We were on the 3rd floor and wasn’t disturbed by any street noise and didn’t hear noise from the adjacent rooms which was a concern when reading reviews of South Beach hotels. Was good enough for a 2 night stay after our cruise.

    Rooms needed a serious upgrade. DO NOT BELIEVE THE PICTURES. Shower took hours to drain. Only half the lights worked in bathroom, impossible to shave. AC UNIT was almost dead, don’t think filter had ever been changed, because after 1 nights sleep my throat was very sore. Turned the unit off the next night and throat improved. These guys don’t like replacing towels. For the price definitely find something else.

    Where to start….room appears worse than cheap motel. Shower took 10 minutes for warm water, bathroom sink didn’t drain. Handles on cupboards and shower fell off. The ac unit was like from 3rd world country and fitted like 3rd world country. The staff appeared like didn’t care. Didn’t like to give new towels. I noticed what appeared like blood stain on curtains. We had a corner room over looking ocean but room didn’t look anything like the pictures on Expedia! For the high end price I would expect more , maybe be a little better than hotel 6 but I would say hotel 6 has better rooms than the beacon!

    I would have left zero. Horrible hotel and staff, rooms dirty, staff non existent and dated. No internet, tv, phone, HOT WATER or staff. Raw sewage coming up from shower drain while you take a cold shower. I checked out without staying the evening and they would not refund my money. Travelocity not helpful and the cause of hours of frustration. Never again, stay away!

    There is no one to help us with our heavy luggage up the stairs and no one to even greet us once we logged our 50 pound luggage up the stairs. No coffee available in the morning. You had to be a skinny as a toothpick to get into the bathroom because it was literally the size of a tiny closet. There were hardly any outlets to be able to plug in a hairdryer or curling iron. No full length mirror or even good lighting to see how you look. Our view is horrible. All we saw were people in the other hotel. I would’ve rather paid more money and stayed at a nicer hotel.

    You have no chance of getting anyone at the counter to pick up the phone .we would call and call and then walk down and see you girls on their phones scrolling. Our first night we waited several hrs for a fridge while food spoiled.room said it has one meanwhile you had to ask then wait hrs. The second day we had several hrs of no water .     Staff couldn't have cared less about us. Not helpful or even pleasant. Rooms have seen better days. Difficult to navigate multiple levels with suitcases with steps up and down and ramps. No offer of any help. At times staff was just rude. Stayed here a few years ago and loved it and staff were friendly. Times change. Location is still great, but I will not return to the Beacon.

    This is a conveniently located accommodation, perfect for travelers seeking easy access to local attractions. It is situated near a variety of restaurants offering diverse cuisines, several shopping stores, vibrant nightclubs, the nearby beach for relaxing or water activities, and South Pointer Park for outdoor recreation. I was nearly inclined to give it a five-star rating; however, the room's heater was not working, and during my stay, the nights were uncomfortably cold. This place offered bag/luggage checks before your check-in time which was amazing. Overall, my stay was pleasant except for the fact that at night the room was super cold.

    We booked for two nights and only stayed for one night!!! Not the south beach experience we were expecting by staying at your hotel. Our first night while sleeping we were all freezing, the kids had to wear hoodies and sweats to bed , nobody slept at all. I get it we are in Miami and temperature was not what we hoped for but that’s mother nature . But not to have an option in the room to turn on a little heat was unacceptable. The lady said we could give to a space heater, I said to her that is not a safe application to use as it’s a safety hazard. Not only that, no privacy in the washroom, anyone can see you having a s**t !!!!! and hotel is in need of major upgrades. This has been my worst experience ever staying in any hotel. Costumer service was horrible , I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

    Unfortunately, the pictures were nothing like the actual room. The room was dirty and unkept. The doors on the shower did not shut due to rust and build up, and mold on the ceiling of the bathroom. There was not enough towels and pillows for the four people staying in the room. The phone line did not work, and when asking the front desk about this, they said that the phones on the 3rd floor don’t work and “they’re working on it”. Also, the online website phone number to reach the front desk was out of service so there was no way to get help if needed. Also, the room’s fan was dirty and caked on with an inch of dust. There were wires sticking out of the wall where the smoke detector was supposed to be - no smoke detectors found in the room. We felt unsafe during our stay and would never recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed for the price we payed.

    This hotel is outdated and dirty. We stayed two nights. One night before our cruise and a night after our cruise. For the price it was really disappointing. The rooms were dirty. The shower had mold growing. Small rooms and bathrooms. The toiletries they advertise online are not provided. No outlets near my bed. And overall it was just a really bad hotel. The only thing that was good was the staff and the location was close to south beach. The staff were nice and made the check in and out process easy. They also held our bags while waiting for a room and such, but that’s just the basics of running a hotel. Otherwise, a waste of money and I would recommend staying elsewhere. Wish I could get my money back for such a poor stay.

    Room was somewhat clean, but everything was so old. Some staff was friendly, but some not so much. Some didn't speak English, so it was hard to judge. There was no beach view, and there was NO breakfast available. Then, it happened i forgot something in room, i came back to the hotel, and they told me they don't have it.     The room needs major upgrade. Bathroom had a dirty mop odor. They over did it with cleaning with bleach. The front desk lady who was impatient and terrible hospitality spoke in a nasty tone , came up to check my complaint on the odor and claim she smelled nothing wrong. I had to purchase disinfect to kill the smell using towels to wipe down and wash the floor. The room phone did not work. Tech came to fix the phone and couldn't. Said he would be back and never came back. So no phone the entire stay. By law its required to have working phones in rooms in case of emergency. They would not accommodate me to change my room. Built in closet had 3 shelves. A metal rod sticking out the wall to hang clothes on with 4 hangers. Only up to date appliances were the fridge iron and ironing board. Bes sheets was stained along side the sides. I bought sheets and pillows and pillow cases to cover to bed after spraying with lysole disinfect. The on line ratings for this hotel is highly fabricated. Needs to torn down and rebuild or gutted and renovated.

    They placed me in a handicap room that felt neglected. The door wouldn’t fully shut unless it was slammed, and several times I didn’t realize it was left open. One night the door guard locked me out, and the next night it completely fell off. I honestly felt unsafe. On top of that, the atmosphere was extremely noisy.

This is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed at , common areas are very dirty room has mold Old no shower water pressure musky odor and extremely dated. The air conditioning unit is old and barely works. Fan stopped working an hour after we got here and the toilet barely works .Looks like the last update was back in the 80s.. was going to go to another hotel but there were none available. Stayed here one night would not recommend this place to anyone. I know this review sounds a bit extreme, but hopefully it gets someone’s attention and people are not misled by the reviews on Expedia, pretty sure these were not verified or the people that wrote the tens had no standards at all. If you want real reviews on this place, go to Google wish we would’ve went there first they need to clean this place up.

    Never have I ever had anything removed from my hotel room. On back to back nights we had items removed from our room by the cleaning staff. One of the items was found, the other a sentimental item that unfortunately was not recovered. Pretty upset that happened and put a damper on the trip.

    The hotel is so tacky and worn that you become completely sad. That the owners are so dishonorable and indifferent to such a legendary hotel with such a unique address is completely incomprehensible. The hotel is run down, the carpets are worn and stained, the furniture is old and ugly and the TV doesn't work (they say they are working on it). In the restaurant, we had a pizza for lunch that obviously came straight from the freezer, because they had forgotten to finish baking it. Dishonorable and shameful! Stay away from this place.

    I recently stayed at this hotel, and I am beyond disgusted and furious. Although it was the cheaper option and was located in a great location where everything happens. The experience was absolutely horrendous from the very beginning. First, they outright lie about check-in times. I was told over the phone that I could check in early before 12 for $90 or after 12 for $50. But when I arrived and tried to check in early, they completely reneged on their promise! Talk about unprofessional! Once I finally made it to my room, I was appalled. The room looked NOTHING like the pictures online—more like a rundown motel than a hotel! The phone in the room didn’t work, the TV remote was broken, and only a couple of the electrical outlets had any power. To top it off, there was mold on the shower ceiling and barely any space for clothes in the nonexistent closet. The elevator experience was one for the books—only capable of holding three people at a time, it was tiny and constantly malfunctioning. We were left stranded when they turned off the water due to a burst pipe and didn’t bother to notify any guests until we inquired. And let’s talk about the beds. They have BEDBUGS! I reported it to the front desk, and guess what? They didn’t even seem surprised! I arrived with no bites and left with multiple welts and skin irritations all over my body.     The room was clean … the staff were polite and helpful. The hotel was built many years ago but it is not worn out! My favorite parts about this hotel is that it is just steps from the beach… You walk out the front door across the street and there’s the beach!!! also there is a CVS right next-door that stocks not only typical Cvs type stuff but also typical grocery store items which were surprisingly reasonably priced for a resort area. The neighborhood is wonderful, lots of activity, music, great food, outdoor dining, shops that serve large Cuban style sandwich’s made while you wait. Parking is expensive, no matter where you go in the area… But we used an Uber back-and-forth and we walked everywhere. It was a great trip.

    When I notified the front desk, we were moved to another room, but at no point did anyone take accountability for the situation. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, and not even a simple “I’m sorry.” We were only given an explanation, which was incredibly disappointing considering the seriousness of the error.

    Requesting full refund pics did not reflect what we walked into at all. Front desk clerk was rude and impatient. Rooms were moldy and damp… bathroom was terrible. One elevator they had literally could not fit all of our luggage at one time and was very rickety. Hallway to room was dirty carpet was dirty not vacuumed. Just bad experience. We checked out immediately and found another hotel at 3am. That’s how desperate we needed to be out of that hotel

    Wasn't crazy about the fact that I had no real window since my room was next to the gym.But what made up for it was the massage machines in the gym, it actually made up for the fact that I had no outside view because I was super sore, and It did the job in getting me ready for my cruise.

    ​The only positive thing about this hotel is its location! It truly is excellent. ​Unfortunately, my stay was hindered by a severe lack of maintenance and customer service. On two occasions, I saw cockroaches in the hallway, the elevator is forever broken, and an advertised 24-hour gym that was inaccessible because it is being used for storage. My room had concerning issues, including mold in the A/C unit, a horrible stench (maybe the mold), a broken remote, and non-soundproof walls, as advertised. Not even a little soundproof. ​Service was unresponsive. My texts about a broken safe and phone were ignored. The maid asked if I wanted my room cleaned and I asked for the sheets to be changed and she said "ohhh, we don't do that." Wait, what? The room is severely outdated, with broken fixtures, peeling chrome, and you have to run the shower for 10+ minutes to get warm water. ​This hotel desperately needs a major update and better management to match its prime location.

    Hotel beacon is close to Souh Beach on Oceans drive - so the beach is walkable but it’s not direct access. We loved the location for the vibe - it’s in the heart of all the hotels, restaurants and touristy. Easy walking to various places nearby and to the beach as well. Staff was friendly.

    This place is literally right across the street from the beach. You really don't have any type of view from your room but that's not a big deal for us. The staff was absolutely fantastic. We arrived earlier than our check in & right away they took our luggage for us to store & gave us pool towels so we could go to the beach to wait for our rooms to be ready. Thanks guys for making our stay memorable!!

    The second day, we came back to our room in the afternoon after an afternoon at the beach to find out we were locked out of the room. Again, I walked back to the lobby to imform the staff and they said someone will be up to change the battery. We weren't back up to our room and waited. Maintenance came I was not able to open the door. It took one hour for him to get tools drill a hole through the door and use a coat hanger to open it from the other side. Although the hotel is in an excellent location situated right across from the beach, I would not recommend this hotel.

    From the moment we arrived, it was a nightmare. They put us on the 4th floor with a broken elevator, which we didn’t find out about until check-in. I specifically told them I have back problems and can’t be running up and down stairs, and they basically shrugged their shoulders — “nothing we can do.” When we finally got to the room, it was dirty, molded, and smelled horrible. It was so bad that we couldn’t even relax. They couldn’t move us the first night, so we literally had to sleep in that smell. I woke up the next morning not feeling well at all, and only then did they manage to move us to a different room. For a place that calls itself a hotel, this was unacceptable. Poor customer service, unsafe conditions, and disgusting rooms. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else.

    Told at check in we owe a $45 resort fee and an hour later I asked if the hotel has a pool and the front desk person seriously said to me “no we have the ocean what are we a resort”. Maybe it’s training or maybe you need to make it more clear that a resort fee is owed, but the beacon is definitely not a resort. I thought that it was fine. Basic value hotel that kind of presented itself as something above that. But like I said, it was fine, but they should not be charging a resort fee.

    Our room was fine though a little outdated. The elevator was not working. However, a kind employee helped us with our bags. We asked about securing tickets for the Hop On/ Hop Off Bus. They set us up with a local service that was horrible (Miami Tours). The onsite restaurant was very good.

    The room itself was a good size and the bed was comfortable. Reviewers have commented on the bathroom size, but I thought it was fine and updated. My only negatives: lumpy pillows, doors constantly slamming shut (I was on the first floor), garbage truck just after 7:00 AM (though not hotel’s fault), I needed to ask for washcloths on my second night, returned to room very late on Thursday and found I didn’t have a bathmat or washcloths, no hangars in closet, coffee bar not refilled. Just to let others know: this hotel was built in 1937 and received some updates in 1948, so don’t expect a modern place like any of the major chain hotels/suites. An adequate job has been done to bring it up to a fairly comfortable hotel with the major room amenities. On-site restaurant inside and outside with room service and 15% discount for hotel guests. No carpeting in room (but nice floor tiles), window air conditioner, walk-in shower, large closet, small coffee bar, TV ( I could only find three channels but I was hardly in my room), no in-room telephone. When I was there the elevator wasn’t working so I was given a first floor room. Help was offered to carry bags upstairs for those above floors. A historic property on Ocean Drive and you can access the beach by walking across the street. Beach not visible from the street at this address. I walked around a lot, about five miles each day; lots to see.

    Staff have been courteous, however the elevator is broken and we are in the 4th floor, the bell hop helped with some of our bags, but we still had an extra bag that needed to be carried up. The room is quite tiny, no fridge, or ice bucket to run and and get ice either. The toilet would not flush but the staff was very prompt to come fix it when we called to report it. It’s ok knowing we are only staying one night and it was a cheap booking. They did offer a discount at the restaurant on site and have beach gear available included with stay if needed which would be nice if we had planned beach activity.

    Love the hotel and staff. They’re very nice. The bartenders are awesome. I wish I would’ve had a better sleep time. The slamming of doors in the morning was my alarm clock when I really needed to sleep after partying all night. I was in the last room next to the exit door. Oh boy that door was so loud when cleaning staff when outside. It was like every 5 minutes. Other than that I love the hotel. Because of that I may have to choose another one next time.

    My husband and I stayed at The Beacon Hotel from Oct 16–21, 2025, to celebrate his birthday. We chose it based on positive reviews, location, and inviting photos, but our experience was disappointing. The hotel looked outdated, and we weren’t told the elevator was broken until after check-in. Our 5th-floor room was small, poorly maintained, and had a broken microwave and window seal. The stairwell was filthy and damaged. The toilet malfunctioned daily, and though staff were polite, it was never fixed. Beach chairs were often unavailable or broken, and the bartender ignored us in favor of a friend. Despite friendly staff, the misleading photos, poor upkeep, and lack of accountability ruined our stay. Management refused even a partial refund, showing no concern for guest satisfaction. We urge travelers to choose another South Beach hotel.

    when I arrived I right away went up to notified the front desk that our room had a bad smell in it ...The young lady that checked us in said she could not move us since there were no rooms available, But that she guaranteed that we got the best room out of the whole Hotel It literally stunk and their were roaches in the restroom no coffee pods were available they said they were out of them period for the rooms no coffee cups to make coffee good thing i had a pod in my purse went to make it espresso machine doesnt't get hot great no coffee period went to front to see if the offer some from resturant nope just closed worse service and stay period didnt checkout due to the fact of not being able to find a room..... so i spent more time out of the room as posible my body spray phased out some of the smell also the mattress didn't even fit the bed if you didn't remember that ' that mattress hung way out from the boxspring/bed you would hit the floor I didn't request a handi -cap room but thats what they gave me .. I requested a double bed due to my 9 year old grandson going with me on this trip nope i got stuck with a king size poor service all around....

    I’m only saying my overall experience at Beacon was “poor” because the elevator was out of service my entire stay and we were on the 5th floor.     Our stay was okay overall, but there were a few issues. The elevators weren’t working during our visit, so we had to carry our luggage up to the 4th floor, which was pretty inconvenient. The rooms and shower also felt quite old and could use some updates. On the bright side, the staff were really kind and helpful, which made the experience better.

    Easy access to the beach. Fun and vibrant area. Safe and walkable. Lots of dining choices but, expensive. Parking is hard to find. Hotel's elevator was broken. Staff was friendly.

    Hotel is great if you're not planning on being in it. Was really basic and small. BUUUUUT was right on the beach within walking distance to food, fun and the water. We'll be staying again just for the beach experience.

    Decor was cool, albeit a little tired. We had a coffee machine in our room but no coffee and when we asked if coffee was supplied they said no. Seemed odd. Air con was really loud, luckily it wasn't that hot so we didn't need it on. Unfortunately the lifts were not working, no worries these things happen. Water pressure in the shower wasn't great. On the plus side, bed was really comfy and the location is great.
