I recently stayed at Avalon Hotel Miami on South Beach and had a wonderful experience. The location is unbeatable, right on Ocean Drive and just steps from the beach, making it easy to enjoy everything South Beach has to offer. The on-site restaurant, A Fish Called Avalon, was outstanding, with excellent food and a great atmosphere. The staff throughout the hotel were warm, professional, and very attentive, always going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. If you’re looking for a charming South Beach hotel with a fantastic location, great dining, and exceptional service, I highly recommend the Avalon Hotel.

You are right on the famous Ocean Drive, cross the street and you are on the Beach, Ocean Drive is really alive, big night life, clubs and iconic places. We did a family trip with small children and we had no issues with noise or anything during the night. Really recommended!!!!

Weekend getaway-Great location within walking distance to a lot of activities. Hotel is nicely updated and exceptional staff service. Enjoyed the evening dinner with live music and delicious breakfast options.

The staff was extremely friendly and wanted to make us feel as comfortable as possible. The room was very clean and the cleaning staff was barely noticed but the facility was sparkling clean. The hotel location couldn’t have been better for access to all things in South Beach. Absolutely would recommend staying here!

The breakfast was good They do not have room service. I asked them if they have a late check out they did not let us do a late checkout. They told me no that they was going to charge me $50 extra on top of me spinning almost $800 for the hotel.

Overall excellent experience. The front desk gentleman was very helpful every time and didn't get annoyed when I kept deactivating my room key accidently. Breakfast was delicious! Also had the clam chowder and it was great!

This hotel was a nice place. It doesn’t have private beach access, but there are beach chairs in the room. It is with in walking distance to a CVS and a Walgreens so you can grab a snack there. There is no swimming pool but breakfast was delicious.

Everything was great.

Although we considered moving again after six nights, we decided to stay—and we are so grateful we did. The staff embraced us like family. They were genuinely concerned about our situation, offered prayers, and provided comfort during a very difficult time. From the owner, Michelle, to the staff members Alejandro, Rosario, Vagos, Camille, and Julio, we always felt safe, supported, and cared for. My husband had to leave before I did, but he felt completely at ease knowing I was in good hands. They truly watched over me. The people at Avalon are amazing. The hotel is wonderful, and the food is excellent. We will never forget the kindness and compassion they showed us.

Fantastic location, fantastic staff. Rooms are understandably dated but very clean. As we spent most time outside it didn’t matter much. In overall we loved it!

Beach side stay, accessible to restaurants, and downtown activities. The restaurant had amazing food. The curbside dining is pretty nice. The hotel is historic and definitely a must just for the opportunity to stay at this beautifully kept exterior. The staff were helpful and kind. Locality to nightly dining up and down Ocean street is amazing. There a variety of different cuisines and food for every taste. Hotel is quaint, rooms are 1940's small. Bathroom was almost unmanageable for lack of space. There is no on site parking. You are required to park in a garage three blocks away or pay 45.00 per day for Valet.

When I got to the front desk Was told that they only had three parking spaces for the 50 unit building. I told them that I called ahead of time asking if there was parking and I was told yes there was valet. The parking situation and having a car at this place is an absolute nightmare. If I would have known this I would have booked another place and not stayed there. On top of this I booked this trip through Expedia with a stay and a car but when I went to check in they tried to charge me $135 for a resort fee for 3 days. I told them that Everything was paid for on the website and there should not be any additional charges and nowhere in their ad does it say there are any kind of resort fees. I refused to pay the resort fee. I will say the location Is Very nice, but the room is absolutely not soundproof at all like their ad says it is. There was very loud Street noise until 3:00 in the morning every night and I was there Monday through Wednesday. The only way I could get sleep is by wearing earplugs. All three of the guys at the front desk were not very helpful seemed very confused and made the parking issue that much more stressful. I only had breakfast in the restaurant and it was a breakfast burrito that you can clearly tell was microwaved quite a bit. I certainly won't stay here again there are much nicer places on South Beach.

First of all, the reception was very friendly. Secondly, the room was absolutely perfect – it was exactly the one I booked. The hotel is perfectly located and the view is stunning. The restaurant is good, and there's great, atmospheric live music in the evenings. The breakfasts are delicious, with the pleasant American custom of refilling your coffee. The breakfast discount for hotel guests is also very noteworthy. The acocado toast is one of the best I've ever had! Clean. It was a very good choice. I have no reason to complain, except for the awful American custom of adding a mandatory tip. Here, it's 20%. And while it's common in the States, it's hard to explain or justify.

We absolutely loved the Vintage Vibe and decor. The staff particularly late night front desk and all day at their outside restaurant were incredible. Very nice bonus to include beach chairs, beach towels and refillable water bottles in the room. Nothing we can think of.

They helped create the beautiful serene calm atmosphere that started each wonderful day. The location is perfect, right on the beach in the middle of South Beach action and only a block from the 7th street city parking garage.

The check in was rude, minimal eye contact and seemed inconvenienced by our 6pm arrival. Our room was clean and adequate but the view from our window was another window only 5 feet away. The beds were comfy and shower power was good. No fan in the bathroom so we added to the already humid Miami stay. We wanted to love this iconic Art Deco hotel, but the only thing Art Deco in our room was the tile in the bathroom.

Loved the fact they had beach chairs in the room and beach towels were offered at the front desk. Commercial, Quality ice machine was on the second floor and small refrigerator in the room. The morning BREAKFAST was OUTSTANDING, I most especially loved the Baked French Toast!!! The menu had many choices to choose from and the staff was OUTSTANDING as well, especially ROSARIO, she was very professional and friendly. The restaurant for dinner was amazing, again many choices. Great location in the heart of South Beach right across the street from the beach. The staff was great, the room nice (and it even came with retro beach chairs to use!) and there is a fantastic restaurant with outdoor seating. The food at the restaurant (ate dinner and breakfast there) were both excellent.

First time staying in Miami. Really happy with the Avalon. Perfect spot, incredible staff, exactly what I was hoping for to experience South Beach.

The Hotel was located close to the beach which was great. Water was provided with the room with bottles and a refill point to stay hydrated and cooler. Lots of restaurants nearby and cafes. The staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. There is nearby pharmacy and shop to drinks and suntan lotion etc.

Great location in an area with real vibe. Just 75m to the beach. Folding chairs & sun umbrella available to carry to beach. Decent breakfast for $15. Free morning coffee. Nice rooms. My one complaint, ours was advertised and charged as partial ocean-view, but the windows were so sand-blasted and dirty, unless opening them the 5-6” allowed, the view was badly obscured. The ocean-front ones looked much better. Comfy bed, decent bathroom though shower water flow was quite poor. My only other regret was they were pretty inflexible re a slightly late checkout request. Said they were full. But they were seemingly letting people check in early, and overall clearly not all the guests leave at the same time; not all the rooms are cleaned at the same time, and not all incoming guests arrive at the same time…. So it wouldn’t be hard to allow just a little flexibility for a few. We’d stay again though.

The location was perfect and everyone on staff were exceptional, opening doors, greeting us with a smile at every turn. It was the perfect blend of being in the thick of Ocean Drive, and the quiet and privacy needed to rest and relax.

Great great location! Right across the street from the beach. The hotel provides beach towels and chairs. You are in the famous strip where Miami Vice and Scarface was shot. Many restaurants on the strip as well as many tourists. Everything you need right at this location.

The hotel is super cute. It’s historic and family owned. My bed was super comfortable and I liked the black out shades. Avalon is well located and seems like one of the best hotels in South Beach. I didn’t eat there but heard the food was good and they had a nice outdoor dining scene. I had a very nice spacious sunny room (#323). Unfortunately it was on an alley with raucous rude shouting people and very loud garbage trucks. The mid century desk was beat up. They should show it some love and touch up the stain that wore off. Sadly, the South Beach area isn’t what it used to be.

This older hotel is in Miami Beach's southern most region. The area has a lot of charm and is very busy even in the early Spring. The hotel was maintained in excellent condition however, being an older hotel, its rooms are on the small side in spaces compared with more modern offerings. However, the Avalon has good soundproofing and even though the district is very busy late into the night, the rooms are quiet. The attentive staff, beach access, excellent location, cleanliness I'll receive high marks. The hotel also includes a restaurant which has a very good breakfast offering.

Breakfast was not included at the hotel in thr cost of the room & we didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel. Our room was on the side of the building with a glimpse of thr ocean.

The hotel building is obviously old, and whilst we had a room with a view of a wall and the loudest old air conditioning, and we had to drag our luggage up an entry ramp in a service alley to a side door, the room was pristinely clean with loads of towels for the bathroom and beach, the staff were unbelievably friendly and so warm and helpful, the food was exceptional, and the vibe was just amazing. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat - it was a highlight of our trip.

Perfect room! Soooo clean! Amazing breakfast. Best eggs, Benedict I’ve ever had. Julio and Juan at the front desk were amazing the kindest people at a hotel I’ve ever met. They took wonderful care of us very comfortable beds. I can’t remember the last time. I slept 11 hours straight. We can’t wait to return. Thank you all for making our stay so wonderful.

This is a very quaint yet chic hotel in a fun location. Right off the beach and running path with lots of restaurant choices to choose from lining the street. I would recommend thicker blankets on the beds, rooms with 2 queen beds and offers for the adjoined restaurant, which looked delicious but was a pretty high price point and few guests eating there. Staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Perfect south Beach location. Air conditioning not able to be lowered enough. Rooms floor not clean-usually felt sandy. Restaurants expensive but great. Staff great. Parking annoying because of large event across street-not able to have car brought to front of hotel which probably doesn’t happen often.

You can't beat the location, right on south beach. The view from breakfast (elevated off the side-walk looking out to the activity of the Ocean drive) is fantastic. The breakfast was good value and very tasty. Our room was good, funky decor, comfortable bed, big TV, good safe, decent bathroom, amazing view. We loved breakfast. If you want the view you have to accept the noise. Ocean drive is where people go to party and be seen, it is noisy. If you are in a low floor room above the restaurant with an ocean view (we were) you're going to get noise. In fairness the noise died off after 11pm and we could sleep without issue (aided by a cocktail/glass of wine or two). Otherwise we loved it.

The Location was perfect and it was wonderful to stay in an Art Deco Hotel right on South Beach. We really enjoyed eating at the hotel’s restaurant.

When you book with Avalon you need to be careful there are hidden charges that is not declared The hotel is old building three story no pool no garden but you will be charged 243 dollars resort fee ! There is 7% tax. But also they add county tax and state tax If you book yourself in Miami Beach ask about taxes and fees No one will tell you till you check out All what I was told you need to pay city tax I am not upset about taxes The problem is tiny room with Aircondition not working it just push air cooler temperature You can’t set temperature below 69 F you only allowed to put fan on or auto Hence you pay RESORT fee For gods sake where is the resort ? Where is the garden Where is the pool Where is the trees Where is the walk path of the resort ! I don’t recommend it at all Plus there is a charge of $75 dollars the hotel denies it but my credit card statement saying Avalon hotel Please save your money And go somewhere else

Loved the location and the restaurant was a lovely standard. Flooring outdated and rooms tired. Single pain windows made the rooms noisy from the outside. Mould visit the area again and the restaurant but probably would not stay at the hotel again.

Great location, very friendly staff. Best to bring a white noise machine for sleeping if you retire before midnight as South Beach parties late.

The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean and comfortable and the king sized bed was excellent. Having a fantastic restaurant on site was a big bonus too. Parking was super easy at the 7th Street municipal ramp about a block away. The ramp was only $20 per day and had lots of spaces available. I strongly recommend staying at the Avalon.

I enjoyed everything about this hotel. The front desk staff was very accommodating. My cruise ship came in at 8:00am and we made it to our hotel about 9:50am. The hotel held my bags for me at no charge. They also held my bags at checkout. This was very convenient. The hotel was very clean as well as my room. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It’s on Ocean drive and I had a great view of the ocean.

This was a perfect hotel for us to spend 3 nights in South Beach before our cruise. The location on Ocean Drive was great, the room was nice, the food was good and all the staff were amazing. Of special note was the service provided by Rosario at our breakfast meals. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Property is a little dated and room was small but our overall experience was great! The staff are awesome and accommodating. The restaurant was so delicious with a romantic patio and live music. We will definitely stay here again!

We had a short but wonderful stay. The Avalon is in a great location. There are numerous restaurants all around the area, and the beach is just across the road. The front desk staff was very helpful, storing our luggage as we arrived very early. They were able to get us a room a few hours before check-in, which was greatly appreciated. Our room was very clean and spacious, and the beds were comfortable. I would definitely stay at this hotel again!

The staff were wonderful. I came in on a red eye flight and the staff was happy to hold my luggage until check-in time. I was able to go eat and hang out at the beach. They called me when my room was ready an hour early. The room was really nice and comfortable. What a cute place. I love the decor. I only stayed one night and in the morning I was going to go find breakfast and the staff stopped me and told me about the breakfast at the restaurant downstairs. They offer a nice discount for people staying at The Avalon. Everything was great. I would love to come again. Hope to see Avalon again soon.

Rosario kicked off my husband’s birthday celebration with a Happy Birthday song and a delicious dessert. I also appreciated the early check-in and they were able to keep our luggage safe while we waited to depart for our cruise.

Missed not having a pool and a seating or lounge area especially that there is such a perfect beach and promenade view.

Can’t complain. It’s an older hotel but they kept it nice and tidy, the bathroom is a little small and a bit outdated but I enjoyed the fridge in the closet the lights by the beds and the water refill station next to the elevator. The hallway always smelled fresh even with having carpet all around. Definitely recommend this hotel. It was nice and the staff is amazing, they keep this place running smoothly!

The beach right in front of the Hôtel is perfect. A lot of good restaurants nearby so you don't have to take any transportation.

Nice Art Deco Hotel in a great location on Miami Beach.

I wish the beach chairs they give you were normal chairs that are taller, the provided ones are 2" off the ground and make it a bit hard to get in of and out of. I managed okay, but if you're on the older side of things you'd probably struggle to use them. They were free though, and the provided beach towel was nice. My only complaint is that the A/C thermostat won't let you lower the temperature below 70F. With no ceiling fan, there were times at night when it was cooler outside that the A/C didn't run for a long period of time and it felt a little stuffy. Allowing 68 or 69F would have made things much better, I've never seen a hotel limit that before. Other than that, when the A/C turned on, the air coming out was quite cold, blew really hard, and easily kept the room at the set 70F even during the heat of the day. Would gladly stay with The Avalon Hotel again.

I booked the room primarily for the shuttle service to the port and the included beach chairs with beach access. Well- there is NO shuttle! They said they can’t fix the false advertising on outside sites. The chairs included- well I attached a picture.

Not accommodating, extremely rude couldn’t “ find “ reservation for 30 mins upon arrival, booked a ocean view room just to have to be moved out of said room due to an huge flying cockroach or some sort of insect. Was downsized to a smaller room & was told I’d receive my resort fee back.

My experience was terrible. The hotel is outdated and old looking. The power went out the second day of stay so we had no lights or a/c it was hot and uncomfortable. The next morning it was still no power until around 10:00 am and one of the staff entered our room without knocking. I was in the room with no clothes on and was scared. This was the worst experience I ever had with any hotel in life. 0/10 don’t recommend at all the worst.

This property is well placed for Miami Beach and has that iconic art-deco look. Unfortunately it suffered from a long power outage during our stay which made for an uncomfortable night. The room is nicely appointed and I’m sure under other circumstances we would have had a great stay. The staff were very apologetic and helpful and we received a full refund. The problem was fixed next morning by the power company, the hotel was not at fault. We would stay here again.

Checked out of the hotel within 20 minutes. Rooms are outdated, dingy, and extremely dirty. Pictures are not accurate. We upgraded to an ocean view, in hopes of a special experience, and instead were met with the smell of smoke, bugs and hair in the shower. Struggling to get our refund after bat

The hotel was very clean, with an excellent ocean view, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. However, my room did not have a smart television, which was a bit disappointing. On the final night of my stay, the lights went out, making it difficult to sleep. While the staff did apologize for the inconvenience, I believe offering a discount for that night would have been a more appropriate gesture.

We spent two out of our three nights without power, without air conditioning, and without even being able to charge our phones. No explanation was ever given. We were simply expected to sleep in the Miami summer heat with no air conditioning.

I’m writing about my recent stay (July 8th-12th) to share some feedback. Your housekeeping team was excellent – please give them my thanks! However, we experienced several maintenance issues. Our room had a worsening sink leak that created puddles requiring towels to manage. I spoke with Camilo and Salomon about switching rooms on day three, but understand you were fully booked. The bathroom had mold, rust, and musty odors, with no exhaust fan to help with humidity. On our final night, we lost power in 90-degree heat. When my teenager developed a fever, we had to find other accommodations at 2 AM, ending up at the Bentley on 5th Street. Given these inconveniences during our 4-day stay, I’d appreciate discussing compensation or a future discount. Thanks for considering my feedback.

We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay at the Avalon Hotel. The room was **spotlessly clean** and the bed incredibly comfortable. One of the thoughtful touches we really appreciated was the **reusable aluminum water bottles** provided in the room, which we could refill as many times as we wanted—eco-friendly and convenient! The **staff were all very polite and helpful**, and we especially enjoyed the **complimentary coffee each morning**—a perfect way to start the day. The only downside during our stay was our experience with the **night hostess at the hotel’s restaurant** (we didn’t catch her name, possibly Destina or something similar). She had **short black hair usually tied in a ponytail**, and unfortunately her attitude and approach were quite rude and unwelcoming. It was disappointing considering the rest of the staff were so professional. That said, the **restaurant manager kindly made up for it by offering us a complimentary cake**, which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. The **guitar music at night was okay**, adding a nice touch to the ambiance, though **we found the restaurant prices to be a bit overrated** compared to other spots we dined at nearby which offered better value. Overall, the Avalon Hotel was a great place to stay, We would definitely consider coming back!

I loved staying at the Avalon because the staff made me feel like I was a family member. The hotel itself is clean, and has been updated. However, the shower head in the bathroom is ancient and you hear pretty much everything from the outside. Id stay there again and do recommend if you dont mind those two negative things.

I am a female solo traveller and this hotel was very safe and right by the ocean drive which saved me a lot of money on uber!

--- It was originally a 3-night plan. The nearby public parking, beach, and location were great. However, starting from the second evening, our nightmare began. While we were out, hundreds of termites suddenly appeared near the bed by the window. We couldn’t tell where they came from, but they were all over the bed area near the window. Many of them had already gotten into my suitcase. We immediately filed a complaint with the reception. The staff seemed to already know that there were a lot of termites in the building. It felt like they didn’t take it seriously, saying that termites come into the room if you leave the lights on when you go out. They also mentioned that other hotels in the Ma’alo area have termites as well. For us, the termites were a major concern. The idea that they could be carried back to our home was horrifying. The staff moved us to a new, larger room right away. However, even in that room, there were still a few termites. We complained again and decided to check out the next day. The staff apologized sincerely, offered us free breakfast the next morning, and canceled one night of our stay. We couldn’t sleep at all that night, spending time finding and removing termites that had gotten into our luggage. Some were even crawling on the bed. We ended up staying awake for most of the night. Although the public parking, beach, and nearby restaurants were convenient, the hotel itself was the worst part of our tr

A wonderful, classy hotel on Ocean Drive. Perfectly located amongst the bustling restaurants and across from sandy South Beach. The rooms come with a set of beach chairs and you can get towels from reception which was a nice touch.

Nice, vintage feel to the property. The bed was very comfortable. No coffee in the room was a disappointment, but you could get free coffee in the lobby in the mornings. Free beach towels and beach chairs was a nice touch! I would come back!
