Reviews
The hotel is generally praised for its convenient location, particularly for those visiting USC, and the staff is often described as friendly and helpful. However, many guests express dissatisfaction with the condition of the rooms, citing issues such as mold, musty smells, outdated decor, and malfunctioning equipment. Additionally, some guests have complained about noise, parking fees, and the lack of a continental breakfast despite it being advertised.

It was a super cute, clean property. Nicely updated and comfy. Loved the location near USC!

No ironing board, limited outlets, late checkout fee for an hour was outrageous. Otherwise, the room was spacious, clean, had a microwave and refrigerator. Bed was firm and comfortable. Great name for the hotel.

It looked like they had just finished working in the room. There were metal shards on the desk and wood shavings/powder where they had drilled holes in the wall. The television would not turn off with the remote. There was a lot of construction noise. The staff that helped me at the front desk was so helpful and patient. I believe her name was Rozi. She had great customer service.

I didn’t like the gardening staff with a weed eater causing dust, plant debris and stones flying against our hotel window. This was all before the Sunday morning check out at 11:00am. Not good for allergies with particles flying around. They should wait until after checkout!!

The rooms needs to be remodeled because it had too many molds in there. Also, the guy at the front desk is amazing and he has a wonderful customer service. Sadly, I forgot his name.

We checked in Monday the 9th with Tony and he was great. Our room was 115. we opened the door and the room had a musty smell. We left the door open and it did help but not a good first impression. The tiles around the tub need to be bleached as the grout was turning dark. The sheer drapes had slits in both. I brought it to the attention of morning person but he didn't seemed concerned. There was no coffee machine in the room. The ice machine was broken and the advertised breakfast was not being served any longer. To say something positive, the beds were comfortable and clean.

Overall, I was pleased with this vagabond inn. We stayed at another vagabond in Sunnyvale and this was comparably better! The bed didn’t feel old and warped and the cleanliness of the room was well maintained. I highly recommend that this hotel go through interior renovations. Replace the carpets with wood floors, add colors to the walls, and add coffee makers in each of the rooms.

Check-in was fine, although it was disconcerting that the check-in area was locked and I needed to be buzzed in to see the clerk. When I arrived, I immediately noticed a sign that indicated that the free continental breakfast was no longer being offered as of 2/18, several days before our stay. It was irritating that I paid for a service that was apparently cut before my arrival without any notice. The room itself was a typical motel room from 1985. It felt extremely dated. Sheets and towels were ok, but everything else was in generally poor condition. The smoke alarm malfunctioned at 2AM and woke us up. The clerk was unmoved by this when I reported it at checkout. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again unless the only other option was sleeping in my car.

The interior of the room is run down. The bed hurt my back. The employees were nice and helpful. They no longer serve breakfast. There was literature in the room that says they do serve breakfast though. They also charge $10 per night to park your car. The accessible room was small and tight to get around the big furniture.

The only good thing is the proximity to the USC campus. Price is outrageous for what you get. Facilities are old, carpets are thick and worrisome, sheets were not great and we got a very old, clinic like bathroom. Only the towels felt clean. Check out is at 12pm, asked to leave car there for a bit longer but got a flat no and no help on close by parkings - evening staff on 1/19 was not nice nor helpful.

I asked the receptionist to make a local phone call from the reception but she said go to your room and make the call from inside it, then I realized that the phone was not working, and when I told them about this problem they did not send anyone to check it or fix it. When I checked in, they said coffee is available any time at the reception (same as food area), but that was not true, becaused I walked at evening to get coffee then they said we only serve it in the morning. The breakfast is not that good, and there are no tables to set and enjoy the breakfast. In summary, it is not worthy the money that you pay, and I don't advise anyone to check in this hotel.

What i dislike.. of all 3 nights and days my son was unable to use the pool and no one staying tried to get in the pool but. Was freezing cold at all times. The hotel receptionis said that it was heated accordingly to reg temperature. THIS POOL IS NEVER HEATED!!!!! SO IS DECEIVING HAVING A POOL BUT THE GUESTS CAN NEVER USE IT.. seens weneeded a pool. I regret staying paying the price at this place. When i could have pay the same on agood hotel with heated pool. Plus my son is special needs and was very frustrated that he couldnt use the pool. 2nd dislike the hotel charges 10.00 parking per night but they dont tell you until you check in. VERY DECEIVING

The place was SUPER loud starting around 11PM, and someone in the building was playing dance music until 3:30AM in the morning. The parking lot is apparently a party zone. I tried calling the font desk but no one answered. The next morning the parking lot outside our room had dozens of empty beer bottles and trash. Finally, the staff was rude. When checking out we stood waiting while the 2 staff stood talking to one another carrying on their conversation, oblivious. I was not expecting fancy, but I was expecting clean, quiet and competent.

Checked in with a young man who's maners were not well at all. Ive stayed here before and was surprized to find out i had to pay an extra $10 just to park my car in the parking lot i just paid over $100 to stay in a room. I had to walk back to the office because my keys didnt work in the door only to get a smug smile from this same awful young man. I will never come back here again.

The room was nice, cozy and comfortable. It had a large refrigerator and a nice size television. It is 1.5 miles from the Staples Center and actually located on the USC campus. The security in the area was excellent, there was a security person on almost every corner of our walk back from the Staples Center. We took the bus from roughly 1 block from the hotel to the staples Center. There are a number of fast food type options very close to the hotel as well as little stores for snacks and necessities. For the price it was exactly what we were looking for on our stay prior to the Dallas Stars vs LA Kings hockey game.

The hotel was clean and decent. The area was very convenient because we were there for a concert at Shrine auditorium and there’s a lot to choose from for dining within walking distance. The room was so cold and the heater wouldn’t stay on. I complained about it and they brought us a couple extra blankets. Don’t really think we should have paid what we did for that room. I really wish I had a thermometer to see how cold it was in there.

There was an incident where our neighbor was pounding on our adjoining door at 3am. We called the receptionist and the neighbors did it even louder, then eventually stopped. It was out of their control, but still woke us up. Overall stay was 8/10. Housekeeping shouldn’t open any doors of rooms that are occupied before check out time.

They did charge us for my daughter's service dog - $25/day. The front desk guy is unaware of our ADA laws - asking for paperwork, license, etc. I did not want to spend the time to educate at the moment, we had a very long day, and I just wanted to laydown. Continental breakfast items - bagels, toast, instant oatmeal, muffins, tea, juice (orange and apple), coffee...nothing fancy, but greatly appreciated. One assigned parking spot per room. Loads of places to eat nearby - 24 hour Subway by the CVS, Starbucks across the street is 24 hours, Carl's Jr. across the street is 24 hours, as well. USC Village is a 15 minute walk that has a Trader Joe's, Target, Trejo's Taco, Rock n Reilly's (fun, good food and good drinks), Ramen Kenjo (ok ramen, expensive), and so much more. Overall, good location, served our needs, safe and clean.

I liked how close it was to USC. A bit of a crack hotel though. Not Vagabond's vault considering the location. Overall, it was perfect for what we used it for which was to attend Rolling Loud. Front desk person could have been a little more courteous. again, considering the clientele they get I can understand why she was so grumpy.

The location was great and close to USC which was where I needed to be because I was attending a conference the next day. There were lots of food options nearby, which made the location more enjoyable. However, the hotel was lackluster. Upon check in there was a obviously intoxicated prostitute in the lobby. The place was decent, but definitely not worth 180.00 a night which was the rate I paid. The sink did not ever give hot water and the room itself was cozy but the beds were way too stiff. The channel options were very limited and I have had better options at places I stayed for less. Parking seemed to be a big problem at this place. Upon check out, my husband asked if he could keep the car there while he went to have lunch with me and they were Less than accommodating about it. They told him he had to have the car off the property by 1:00. At 1:00 there was a lot of parking, so that should never have been an issue. When you check in at 3, they should at least give you 24 hours! Overall, this place missed the mark for me. In the future, I think I’ll stay further away and just commute to USC.

I wish the stopper in the bathtub worked and that the airconditioner were not so very loud in the window, but I like it and will go back. The neighborhood is not good and alot of people are yelling in the streets. The police were called and were in the hotel parking lot. They have a pool, but the water was freezing. The landscaping is nice, with some really sweet birds of paradise and some very tall Washingtonian Palm trees. The best part is the staff. Very, very nice and helpful. They have a "breakfast", which some people eat. Bagles and cream cheese, cereal, muffins in plastic, packaged oatmeal. What they need to make it better is small tables, (skinny fold out for the breakfast time?) a waffle maker would be spectacular and easy. They need one food to pop out. Of course they have coffee and tea, but the cups are really small. It is details such as these that diminish it. Or at least they should provide trays so that the guests could take the food to the rooms since there is no place to eat. But I see people trying to eat and appreciating the effort. If they were smart, and they wanted to offer breakfast, is make their unnessarily large counter smaller, and add a couple of tables. I like the security guard. He is nice.

I have sent an email to the manager in regards to my experience with my stay at The Vagabond Inn. I checked in on the 30th of October @ 3pm, with a reservation through Expedia. Josie at the front desk was delightful and very helpful. We were checked in to room 219 and was excited to get unloaded and rest after a long day and traveling. We then heard a woman a few doors down start shouting that her room was full of worms. Upon unloading our things my sister saw what looked like a maggot wiggling on the carpet in our room. There were actually 2 in our room. As for the other room I am not sure how many there were. I took pictures and video of the ones in our room and sent them via email to the manager. I also forwarded them to my husband to see exactly what they were. When all of this was brought to the young man working the front desk after Josie was relieved, he was so indignant and rude about the whole situation. When room 215 was moved out to another room, he didn’t even help the woman with all her bags. He was just rude beyond words. We were in town to see Joseph Prince and I remained calm and patient and decided that I needed to get my sister something to eat and we would have a chance to talk about what or where we were going to stay. We came back 30mins later only to find out that the same gentlemen purposely deactivated our room cards. I then had to go back down to the office only to once again have this person be completely rude to me. Terribly dissatisfied!

For us, the price was worth the value. The purpose of our trip was to visit our daughter who is in the SCA program at USC and attend a Trojan football game, for which she is in the marching band. Being within walking distance of the campus and the Colosseum saved us time, parking, and stress. When one member of our party broke a leg, the staff moved us to a first floor unit as soon as they had one available. Staff was super friendly over all, and the continental breakfast had enough options to satisfy each of us. In addition, there are many stores and restaurants within a few blocks. And just in case you need it, and hopefully you won't, hospital is also nearby.

I like that the rooms were clean. I also liked that the doors had a lock plus the top lock. I have a toddler who loves opening the door and running so this was a huge plus for my family. there were lots of parking I was able to find a parking with no problem and right in front of my room.

The parking lot had homeless people looking in cars and digging through the trashcans. The front desk attendant just acted annoyed. The room was small, outdated, and super noisey. I feel robbed for having paid $140 for the night.

When we checked in the room they gave us was awful. There were tears in the carpet, the tub was rusted, the chairs and furnishings were scratched and torn and the bed was hard as a rock. When we sat down on the bed we noticed ants crawling on the bed. We requested a new non-smoking room but the new room reeked of smoke, the next room also reeked of smoke. When we asked for our reservation to be canceled and our money returned the man on duty couldn’t get ahold of the night manager, without getting confirmation we couldn’t cancel. The front desk clerk finally found us a room free of smoke and bugs but it was the worst 2 nights stay of my life and I don’t mind sleeping in a tent for 7 days and would have found that cleaner and more enjoyable then this establishments nasty furnishings. No money is invested back into this property to maintain it. The beds are full of bugs and the staff is rude.

I usually love this hotel. I stay there often when I visit family. Not sure if management is new but staff was not friendly and not helpful. Our room was dingy. Everything was falling apart. The upstairs neighbors had s loud party all night. I called front desk and they did nothing about it. I had a toddler and a new born with me and no one got any sleep. Horrible experience. I will never stay there again.

The location of the hotel was very nice! Only a 12 minute to the LA coliseum. They're several restaurants to pick from in the area. If you want a better selection of restaurants then you need to get to Hollywood CA where's the tours are and great food choices. The Staples center is a 30 minute walk from the hotel. My only concern was TV channels selection. I did speak with the general manager about it hopefully it happens if I come back to the hotel. I wanted to watch ESPN. And being a college football fan I would have liked to have had ESPN to watch sports center and other games. But when you stay at a hotel where the staff aren't sports fans I can only hope that the next group of people can see the channels advertised. The general manager told me that it should be corrected. Let me know if anyone staying here gets regular ESPN when you stay here. I did have a great time in LA.

This place is kinda dirty, noisy because of local traffic. My shower worked but the shower faucet was missing it’s labels, so you were on your own to figure out how it worked. The bathroom screen was covered in dirt and grime and had a sizable hole from where someone tried to find a way to open it. You can’t. You’re trapped. The breakfast was a tiny counter with hot water, oatmeal packets, some coffe and some store bought individually wrapped muffins, which tasted more like preservatives than pastry. When I decided to leave, I was told that I was prepaid through Expedia, and there were no refunds. I really had to insist and fight for my right to leave, and they finally relented, which was the only positive experience at the Vagabond Inn.

I just checked out of my hotel yesterday morning and I have bed bug bites on my arms and torso. I am putting any formal report to the health department as well as the Better Business Bureau to report this facility. After making a management aware of this and checking out I was then charged 50 dollars cleaning fee for a facility that is violating health code regulations.

The staff here are top notch. We came down for a USC football game and parking in the area is expensive. Staff let us park early in the day even though check in is at 3. Saved us $50. They also gave us one of the pool rooms which was very cool! We will be coming back again next weekend for another game. Fight On Vagabond Inn!!

Love the location of the hotel! They have rooms that are reserved for people with pet allergies. Super clean, free parking and WiFI, No elevator!
