Starlight Inn La Brea

A few tips for future travelers: arrive early if you want to enjoy all the goodie’s, and take time to explore the nearby attractions, as there are several worth visiting. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The staff wasn’t very attentive at all. I booked a room in advance and I’m sure the staff knew I was going to be there for two days in a row. The room they gave me didn’t have a closet or any place to hang any clothes up. The room was booked for two adults and there were only two very thin towels and one face towel in the bathroom when I got there. I booked a non-smoking room and the smoke detector had been removed from the ceiling. The microwave that was located outside of the room needed to be cleaned and it didn’t work well (took too long to heat up the food). The parking lot is very small but that’s typical for the Los Angeles area. The photos that Starlight Inn La Brea have posted on Hotels.com don’t look anything like the actual room that I stayed in. Me being from Las Vegas maybe I’m spoiled because I’m used better service and better accommodations. Me personally I will never book this motel ever again.

1st room… ac didn’t work 2nd room… ac worked but tv didn’t 3rd room… ac worked but couldn’t change the temperature and there wasn’t a remote for the tv.

Not very welcoming the staff was pretty much bothered i was there in first place. There was a white stain on the comforter and loose hair under on the blankets. Bathroom is in need of serious upgrades and it was dirty around the toilet area dried boogers by the toilet paper. Overall room needs repairs upgrades very outdated beds, styles the only thing in the room comfy and clean was the chairs. The bath towels were also stained dingy looking glade we brought our own and stayed only one night. Supposedly it says microwave in room but its actually outside like a communal microwave and to get ice there was a charge. Will not be staying again.

If you're used to budget motels, this one is excellent! I am an older female traveling on my own and I felt quite safe here. Staff members were friendly and helpful. Rooms are very nice and clean, inside and out. Grounds and rooms are well maintained. I was able to park right in front of my room. It was quiet. Couldn't ask for anything more!

I had a bad experience at the place. When I entered the room, the smell was like cigarettes, the floor was sticky, the walls were stained, and The bed sheets smelled really bad, like armpits or someone who hadn't showered for days had stayed in them. the guy at the front desk was very rude and threw the key at me. I didn't say anything because I was tired and there was a lot of noise next door, someone playing music late at night. I totally do not recommend this place.

I arrived at 7:30 and they said the room was not ready and to come back in an hour. I returned an hour later to see that they barely knocked on the door to get the people out and clean. Still not ready by 9:45pm. No parking, dirty place, and sketchy.

Used towels with hair all over them, used soap in the shower with mold, the sink water was over pressurized, and the only 2 pillows on the bed were flat and small. But on the bright side they had a cool light in the room for ambience.

One, when I checked in, rather than checking for my hotels.com reservation, the lady at the front desk assumed I was a John who needed the room for a few hours for a hookup. Which, I'm annoyed to say was the room next to me. They had plenty a good time as the guy next to me had several loud ladies over all night. Then there was the homeless guy. Throughout the evening he walked the property banging on doors, yelling at people and even setting things on fire in the parking lot. At one point I called the lady at the front desk and told her "hey, there is a fire in the parking lot" and she said "its OK - that guy is a frequent guest." I tried finding a hotel nearby with rooms at that point... but no luck. So I decided to truck it out. 11pm - the owner shows up for a hot minute and kicks the guy off the property. That lasts about 2 minutes. 8am - The homeless guy is chasing a family with two young kids to their car waving a bottle at them and screaming. The hotel owners and front desk did nothing. Don't stay here if you value comfort or safety. Wish I was making this up.

Nice spacious room, had a mini fridge, safe parking, big bed but the pillows were pretty flat and the shower head was taped on so the water was spraying out of the shower..not much you could do. Other then that it was a great place to stay!

check in was at 3 clearly posted not only on the website but the main office and my room wasn't ready until 5, the sheets were still wet like they had just been washed! overall the place was garbage I travel to LA for business and pleasure but I wont ever stay here again.

We stayed a couple of nights and it was ok. It’s not in the safest place as advertised- La Brea St is not bad but there’s people walking really late at night (1am).

Clean rooms. Lovely staff. No loud noises. Alway someone cleaning around. I look forward coming back. The jacuzzi was amazing the keys were strong and overall a wonderful experience.

Quite possibly the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. Blood on the shower curtain, floorboards lifted up, bathroom door kicked in and not even replaced just screwed back to the wall, front door wouldn't lock because it was so crooked and hanging off the hinge that it wouldn't fit, side tables not even cleaned, I can go on and on. Unfortunately due to our late arrival, 3:00 a.m., it was dark and we didn't see a lot of these things or we would have just slept in our car in the parking lot. Do not stay in this place if you value your health or your safety.

Had to change rooms twice because the first room was way to small, could hardly move around. And the second room the bathroom sink was cracked and if I would've used the sink the water would have landed on the floor. At the end they did give me an upgrade that had a jacuzzi but because I paid for a standard room they said, if I use the jacuzzi I would have to pay extra.

Not being familiar with driving in the LA basin the Starlight was easy to find with the signs out front. Check in was quick and easy, parking was good and the room was very clean (loved the blue led rope lights for a night light) and we were close to the event we attended Saturday night. All in All would return in a heartbeat.

The room & stay were good & comfortable. I slept very well. Their policy list is pretty long. No visitors, no bikes, no pets, despite having hardwood flooring. I'm assuming it's to help keep them looking nice. I would definitely stay again.

Changed room 3 times, none were clean. Hair in toilet, skid marks on walls. “Smoke free” rooms reeked of marijuana smoke, bathroom smelled like urine. Extremely unprofessional staff, poor management, waiting on refund.

People above us were walking back-and-forth all nightlong with yelling and screaming outside. People arguing, which was very frightening for me and my son. i will mever stay there again. I would mot recommend it to anyone with small.children or handicapped people

Old and tattered, to be sure, but inexpensive. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was strong and refreshing. Management let me check a couple of bags for the day in the office. I had a good stay and bus stops were convenient for exploring the city. Just what i wanted.

What we needed was a clean place to lay our heads for a quick overnight trip with the kids. The parking lot is VERY small and we drive an F150 so it was difficult to park. Check in was less than 5 mins so that was excellent. The room appeared clean at first glance, but my daughter moved the pillow on the bed and there was fresh blood all down the side of the pillow. Like bright red. There's no way that anyone that's cleaning could have missed that when making up that bed. We tossed the pillow in a corner and I covered the beds with our own sheets and pillows we always travel with. Thank God we brought them!!! We didn't have any other issues but the bathroom looked that it was a breeding ground for a debilitating disease so we chose not to touch anything other than using the toilet. If you're looking seedy but apparently safe, this is the place!

Its fine just not a fan of the walls having wierd gunk on it. They dont clean the rooms well enough as in the shower the shower head is buidling up white stuff not sure what to calk it and they didnt even the previous stayer’s soap the doors hinges even have rust not a very clean place but i suppose ur getting what u paid for….

Room was not clean at all. It had a lot of dirt, crumbs, and stains all over the floor. Toilet had a water leak. Room had a strong smell. There was mold on the shower curtain. I’m general, very bad experience.

The room was dirty with a half finished beer in the room. When we noticed the lock on the window was broken we asked to switch rooms and this room had NO lock on the window. We decided to leave as we didn’t feel safe and the front desk man got in my face and called me names and demanded an additional $50 cash.

Male receptionist was impolite, not friendly to customer. Place was too noisy at night.

This hotel had a 2-3 star rating last I checked and I don’t even understand how it could be so high. Maybe there is some rating padding going on. If I could give this hotel a 0 rating, I would. This hotel puts the "meth" in "meth hotel". Multiple guests asked me if I had any and my neighbors were awake and loud throughout the night. Watching TV, arguing, domestic violence. It got so bad I had to call the police. The front desk attendant was not helpful or around. I tried calling and visiting the desk throughout the night most nights and they were absent or augmentative. The rooms themself were terrible, fist holes in the wall, bullet holes in the wall, missing paintings from frames. Definitely suspicious about bed bugs and the like.

When I arrived home, I found two bedbugs on my cloths and to deal with it immediately. Not coming back again. I have a chronic illness and don’t want to risk my life here with bedbugs.

Poorly maintained. Stained walls, aged A/C unit, mold smell, grimy door. The worn condition of the room casts doubt on how well it is cleaned.

Didnt like anything

The manager of this place has a really bad attitude. I couldn’t hear what he was saying and he started being very rude when I told him that. Overall, the motel itself was in great condition. The shower had very nice temperature and great pressure. I just wish the bed had more pillows. The walls were thin though and you can hear the neighbors, and the outside noises. But I give the motel a mediocre review. It is a nice place to stay if you need to be in LA for a concert or an event nearby.

BATHROOM FLOOR WAS DIRTY, SHEETS STAINED

Very dirty, bordering on disgusting. Front desk staff not at all helpful, even when awake. In the morning he was asleep on a cot in the office and asked me to come back later.

The rooms are not correctly advertised. I booked the better looking room which was listed as the smoking room. And when I got there I was put in a room that was totally different. At first I was like okay let's just make it work. The room was so gross that I couldn't stay in it unless I sanitized everything and even then I was like the room was so bad that there was no way I would get myself to feel comfortable enough to go to sleep in there. There was no way it had been cleaned prior to me arriving. It was so disgusting. The point of unacceptable was when I was cleaning the fridge (that didn't even work) I found thick layers of mold on the fridge. I went and I told the front desk. He switched my room after showing him I had booked the room that was nicer than this one and I showed him the pictures on the advertisement, the mold, the shower curtain that was being held up by a piece of cardboard, the food container that was on the ceiling over the bed??. He then tells me that I have to pay him and $20 cash to switch the room but the rooms were both listed for the same price.I started to sanitize all the surfaces covid-19. Not only was the room not repaired right it had mold thick mold covering the fridge which didn't even work anyway. . If you want While the man at the front desk was checking me into the room that was advertised as the "Smoking room"

We got to hotel. They booked over my reservation and told me there was nothing they could do.

When I addressed the issue with the employee at the counter he was extremely rude and disrespectful. He refused to put me in contact with the manager and I had to literally argue with the man and refuse to leave before he gave me my refund. This place is disgusting and should not be in business. Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.

It was ok needs a better clean up

The person working in the office was very cold not friendly at all. Our room looked clean but it wasn’t there was hair all over the bed and pillows. The shower wasn’t cleaned at all the person before us dyed they’re hair purple the dye was all over the shower walls and curtains. The small refrigerator was dirty and smelled bad. My friend stated in a different room and her room was also disgusting. When we told the guy in the office he just kept saying no and I even told him I’ll show him the mess and he just said no again. It was a horrible stay the bed was as hard as the floor I definitely will never stay here and will never recommend it to a friend. Is there anyway I can get a refund?
