The Los Angeles Athletic Club is a historic hotel with a unique blend of old-world charm and modern amenities. Guests frequently praise the hotel's fitness facilities, including a gym, pool, and basketball court, as well as the friendly and helpful staff. However, some guests have complained about outdated rooms, poor plumbing, and noise issues.

The LA Athletic Club just became my new favorite place to stay in Los Angeles. It has everything: an updated classic vibe, multiple dining options, fantastic fitness classes, and impressive gym amenities. The covered parking made everything easy, and the room was one of the largest I've ever had in L.A. It was the perfect place for a bestie getaway, close to downtown event area and relaxing spot to have a good visit. The front desk staff was absolutely outstanding. Friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. I'll definitely be back.

Here is a breakdown of the issues: Terrible Security & Check-In: Upon arrival, he was left standing outside ringing the doorbell for 10 minutes before anyone let him in. To make matters worse, his room key card immediately failed to work. Subpar Room Conditions: The entire wing smelled strongly of mold, the bathroom was gross, and the toilet ran continuously. Furthermore, the hotel's Wi-Fi was so unsecure that his computer’s security settings blocked him from even connecting to it. Constant Noise Disruption: His room was located directly above the gym facility, and the loud, jarring buzzer from downstairs blasted through the floor constantly. Abysmal Service & Amenities: There is no coffee provided in the room. When he went down to the 3rd-floor cafe at 9:00 AM on a Friday, there was only a single, overwhelmed employee working the counter. Uncomfortable Atmosphere: The property has a bizarre, unsettling vibe. On multiple occasions at different times, other guests would board the elevator and immediately start hyperventilating/wheezing, which felt less like a hospitality experience and more like the start of a horror movie. This place is entirely not worth the trek or the money. Avoid it.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a genuinely relaxing experience, but the standout feature was the sauna, steam and jacuzzi.

Amazing love this place

was a bit dated (I understand it’s a historic building). We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to be back.

The location is brilliant. It's in the heart of the city centre, but the problem is there are a lot of homeless people all around the city centre. Otherwise, it's a great location to be, and the rooms are reasonably sized. They have a certain old-world charm, but I enjoyed staying there. The breakfast was brilliant.

Great gym, swimming pool and overall historic property.
- 5/5
I have stayed at this hotel numerous times, and it never fails to be accommodating and a great place to stay downtown. The staff is great.
- 5/5
Loved our stay, staff was amazing and very helpful. Our was clean and good size , bigger then other DTLA hotels we gave stayed in. Will definitely be back , oh and the gym was huge and i love all the equipment.
- 5/5
Amazing room. Would definitely comeback the staff was very helpful and answered all of our questions. The room was big and as luxurious as the pictures. Yes the bathrooms look dated but everything works so no real complaints there. I am already planning when I can come back and stay here.
- 5/5
Otherwise the place is great. Clean. Nice location. Easy parking for a reasonable fee. And wonderful gym.
- 5/5
Great front desk and restaurant team, very responsive, helpful and quick to get what you need.
- 4/5
If you need to be in DTLA, this is a great place to stay. We had a big group and the amenities were great for meeting up to sit with a coffee, a drink or to have a meal. My only complaints are that the bathrooms were dated (although clean) and the rooms were dark (so hard to put makeup on). I would still highly recommend and I would stay there again.
- 4/5
Loved the clubby feel, and the gorgeous library where you can work. The room was spacious and comfortable enough, but need some upgrades - the bathroom seemed especially rather dated.
- 5/5
only letting you know through this platform because I don't know if you would hear about this through the front desk. The cafe baristas are always so kind and cheerful. It is much appreciated. They are this way even when the line is long!
- 5/5
I would stay here again and tell my friends about it . I wasn't able to try all the amenities but maybe next time I can see the jazz band play.
- 3.5/5
The hotel is located in an area of downtown that makes it easy to explore part of Los Angeles in all directions. There are delicious taco vendors nearby (Tacos La Cuevita!) and you can snag a bus, rideshare, or e-bike/scooter easily. The front desk staff was pleasant. The bed was comfortable. And guests have access to the impressive gym/pool area. The bathroom conditions did not meet my expectations. It felt like a hospital bathroom in need of upgrades - the ceiling tiles were disheveled in places, there were several chips in the white tiles on the floor, the overhead light flickered sometimes, and there was mineral buildup on the shower head. The main room's lighting is too dark and the windows could use more soundproofing in some capacity. Also, I would not recommend this hotel to families or couples who are easily spooked by the colorful riffraff one is likely to encounter around this part of the city. You will regularly encounter homeless and mentally ill individuals while walking in the vicinity. For security purposes, the hotel makes you buzz the front door at a certain point in the evening. It worked fine as a solo traveler from Chicago.

Loved our stay at LAAC. Very quiet spot with some great history. Entire hotel staff was super nice and helpful. Made use of the gym, basketball court, & sauna Sunday morning after going to a Laker game the night before. It’s about a 20 minute walk to the LA live area downtown. Had a nice breakfast after checkout at the restaurant on the 3rd floor. Will definitely be back! Thanks all!

The staff were very courteous and helpful. However, the room requires additional lighting, and the bathroom rail needs to be repaired. Overall, the stay was enjoyable.

Loud loud loud loud. Cars and motorcycles screeching all night. Soundproof windows would be nice instead of earplugs on the nightsrand

Probably my favorite hotel in the area, staff was so friendly, and I love that you park in a secured lot and walk directly into the hotel, avoiding having to walk outside.

Absolutely loved everything about this hotel. The restaurants and bar were amazing! The basketball court was great. Room condition and overall cleanliness of the place was fantastic. We’ll for sure be coming back so we can stay here again!

This is a really special space. Stayed for four nights in March. The gym is incredible and I was happy to be able to book a lane for swimming on two different days in the 8am hour. Enjoyed the novelty of being in such a historic building, and the roof is very cool. Downtown LA is not the nicest, but is very convenient. Everyone who works there is nice and helpful.

Just Ok, nothing special The Room and hotel are a quite worn with use. Scuffed furniture, carpet in room that seemed dirty. Edges of carpet have not seen a vac in months if not years...No convenient charging options, only an extension cord on the floor that one has to dig out from under bed.

Definitely not what they advertised. Room felt like it was haunted. The bed was uncomfortable very out dated. The stole my umbrella from the parking garage from inside my car!
- 5/5
One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was because of the gym, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The facilities are massive and the gym itself is really good and very functional, with everything you need for a proper workout. My room had views of Downtown LA which I loved, and the rooftop views were also amazing. It’s such a cool place to just take in the city. Parking was another big plus, it’s inside the hotel which makes everything super easy. I also booked through Expedia and got a discount, which made the stay even cheaper and totally worth it. Overall, a really great experience and I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
I would stay there again in a heartbeat! The pool, spa, and club were amazing. This is more like a full gym and clubhouse with hotel rooms on top. The sports bar had a surprisingly good Frito pie literally served in a Frito bag. The club area was such a fun place to hang out. This hotel is unique and absolutely worth the visit.
- 4/5
It used to be my absolute favorite place to stay in LA, both because of the fun decor and an amazing athletic club. But now the rooms look a bit tired, the breakfast is no longer included. The club is still great, but they charge $$$ for an access $$$ for breakfast, club access, and parking

Visible dust on the ceiling in the restrooms tile, and when the curtains were open, you could see all of the dust flying around the space. Very difficult with allergies to bear. You would sit on the bench in front of the bed or move the curtains to open them and watch the dust fly. While the building and its interior it beautiful, it does need some updates. Tiles in the bathroom had visible black build up in the cracks. Low water pressure with water that hardly was warm, calcium build up on shower head and faucet. Really rough lighting in the vanity area and the room is dark with the brown walls. It was unclear what amenities guest had access too and parking was unclear as a hotel guest. We had to google it in order to locate as there were several parking garages near the building. Beyond Chipotle, there were not any family friendly dining restaurants due to its location in the city. It would be an idea hotel for solo travel but not idea for families. We wish we would have stayed elsewhere as we ended up having to drive to our families activities and meals.

LAAC was hands down the best place we stayed while on our trip and it was all down to the amazing staff. Every single member of the team we encountered was so helpful and friendly, going out of their way to help us and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were also amazing and the use of the basketball court, swimming pool and spa were a huge highlight for us. We will be recommending this hotel to anyone travelling to LA.

This hotel was shockingly iconic. What a treat! The way this place has been preserved, kept up with vintage caricature and antiques throughout. It really is amazing, there is no other place like it I can imagine. The rooms are very comfortable, the bed was great. The bathrooms are a little dated and small, but it has the essentials. Food was actually really reasonable in the hotel honestly. Even my family from a small town says that’s the same price we have back home. There are study rooms that look like a university library. Overall a must see.

Our room was clean and very spacious, which was especially important since we were traveling with two teenage boys. The bathroom was on the smaller side, but I didn’t mind, as it clearly allowed for a larger room overall. That said, the bathroom is in serious need of updates. The shower, in particular, felt more like something you’d find at a roadside motel or truck stop, which was disappointing compared to the rest of the hotel’s quality. Overall, we had a great stay; the only real disappointment was the state of the shower.

We had a great experience in this hotel. A lot of things to check out in the building and around downtown. We feel safe to walk in the city around the hotel even at night. The rooftop is very nice and we enjoyed it.
- 5/5
From the parking to the staff all the amenities and the room clean well packed with so many accommodations, the gym was amazing. The staff Melissa was awesome at front desk. Definitely staying here again. Oh and the many restaurants and bars literally 1-5min walk.
- 5/5
Love this place
- 4/5
Lovely staff
- 5/5
Beautiful and historic!
- 5/5
Great customer service, the staff was very hospitable and accommodating. The gym amenities are outstanding and unique as well. Highly recommended.
- 5/5
Room was clean, stylish, moody and well decorated. Although bathroom needs a similar updated. The building is gorgeous, wonderful facilities and perks to use the pool, exercise areas and classes. Loved the on-site bar and common room. Highly recommend for a unique LA experience.
- 5/5
We had an incredible stay and even better customer service too to bottom. When you call and hit zero outside hotel or while there someone answers and immediately they help you. The facilities are beautiful. Breakfast in restaurant was so good. So nice that a great experience start to finish is still in the world.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
We came to town for the Sabrina Carpenter concert at Crypto Arena. Great hotel, easy walking distance to the venue. Lots of restaurants and shopping in DTLA. Rooms are comfortable, with lots of original details at this historic club and hotel. Overall great value and would stay again.
- 5/5
Quite authentic with great sports amenities
- 5/5
Wonderful, wish no one knew about this secret gem!
- 4/5
Couple issues- their bathtubs are VERY slippery. I understand now why they have multiple bars in the tub. I fell down (I’m ok!) in the tub the first time I tried to take a shower. I felt that the hotel cleaning could be more thorough. On one of the last days I was there I found an old rag on the floor right behind one of the curtains. I will also say that because of the location, it can be a very active and noisy area at night. They DO provide earplugs, but I think they should make the doors and elevators swipe card activated. I noticed that while some doors are exit only, others are not and anyone can reach the hotel floors (10 through 12) just by being a member of the athletic club or wandering in off the street. Finally, DO NOT use the QR system to order room service. I used the QR code to order dinner during my first night and waited over an hour and a half. I messaged the link/ number for updates and it kept saying it would provide an ETA and never did. I got a call to my room almost 2 hours later telling me it was an AI system and they never got my order.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and excellent housekeeping and engineering
- 5/5
Excellent customer service and very comfortable room.
- 5/5
excellent
- 5/5
The room was clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Really enjoyed our stay
- 5/5
The front desk team is kind and responsive. The vibe is great. The athletic facilities are fantastic. The room itself this trip was probably one of the the more basic single-queen rooms they have and not a standout but also perfectly functional. Recommend this place— it’s a great location in downtown LA and a cool place to stay and be active.
- 5/5
Great place
- 5/5
Room was clean but dated. Staff was excellent!
- 4/5
i didnt have time to enjoy it all, but great place, the sports facilities are awesome, th restorant food is good. i just found the rooms/restaurant to be a bit dark, personally i prefer a bit more daylight during the day.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Great staff.
- 5/5
Great happy hour at Dukes. Wonderful staff. Clean. Good area. No complaints! Highly recommend this hotel and we’d gladly return in the future should we need to stay downtown.
- 1/5
staff, never going to stay there again
- 5/5
It was a glorious experience, between the excellent staff and the amazing facilities. Would definitely recommend
- 4/5
Room was clean and location was convenient to public transportation, dining and shopping. Self parking available at decent price (for LA). Staff is friendly and helpful. Amenities are minimal and you have to request for room to be cleaned as they do not come automatically each day. Room is very small and bathroom lacked any counter space for your toiletries. A credit card hold of $100/day is collected upon check-in but as soon as you charge anything to room - they request to "top-off" the hold which I found rather strange. All-in-all, a good option for DTLA stay but don't expect a typical hotel experience.
- 1/5
The room reeked of mold. The furniture seems to have come from GoodWill. The toilet backed up. The bathtub was tiny. WiFi barely worked, so streaming not possible. TV choices were minimal and ad-heavy. The mini-frig was so mini that it melted a pint of sorbet all over the inside of the frig. Spent more than $600 a night for this and no staff response when I complained. The location was the only thing that worked. We'll NEVER be back.
- 5/5
My stay was extraordinary - the staff was very helpful and polite, the room was clean and comfortable and the amenities were pristine. I would absolutely stay here again.
- 5/5
Alec the Basketball Coach is such an amazing person! I took 2 classes back to back and what a lovely great experience!
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Abe in the lobby explained things to do and got us (my wife and I) in the mood to go out. The hotel was beautiful and we’ll have to come back soon.
- 5/5
Everything was fantastic -the room, the restaurants, the staff! Aung at Invention and Sierra at Dukes were especially amazing. They remembered our names, greeted us with a smile each time, and made us feel at home. We will definitely be back!
- 5/5
We’ve stayed several times before and will assuredly be back in the future.
- 3/5
Walls are thin, you can hear next room like they are in your room, only one pair of ear plugs in a room for 2, asked front desk, they had no spare, no vanity makeup mirrors.. , bit dated, but very clean, beds are comfy, services are good. Plenty of parking
- 4/5
Staff was very attentive
- 2/5
But the facilities on the premise was acceptable due to the year It was built. Satff was friendly.
- 4/5
The hotel is very unique and has a lot of charm. We had to pay for our own parking on the last day which was quite expensive, and I'm not sure why it was not covered.
- 5/5
The hotel was amazing. It was way more than we expected. The staff was friendly and welcoming explaining all they have to offer. The gyms, basketball court, dinner and breakfast spots. The parking was easy access specially for being in the heart of LA. The rooms were really nice kinda small but overall great place to stay already planning to come back.
- 5/5
Excelent
- 5/5
Beautiful classic hotel with great photos of athletes from years ago. Very well kept up. Staff, especially Brandon, were very accommodating.!
- 5/5
The staff was very kind and helpful when we arrived late with two grumpy kids. They were very accommodating in helping with our luggage and getting us into our room.
- 5/5
Very satisfied with my stay , very pleasant and comfortable and historic as well I love the relics
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Best pool in downtown. Comfy rooms.
- 5/5
I didn't drink or eat during my stay
- 5/5
Easy parking space
- 4/5
Athletic facilities were wondeful. Staff was friendly. Rooms were clean, but a bit dated.
- 3/5
Rooks a bit dated, tiny TV, food on site poor
- 5/5
Nice clean pace nice people
- 5/5
I love that hotel and this is my 7th stay. The bathrooms in the guest rooms do need a refresh. So does the TV in the room.
- 5/5
The staff were amazing and super friendly/attentive. And my daughter and I had a wonderful experience at the spa where we could then use the hotel’s extensive amenities afterwards. It was very modern and relaxing.
- 5/5
Check in was easy! Front desk agent was super helpful. The hotel and rooms were clean and smelled good. Just because this is something I was looking for - the hot tub closes at 8pm I believe and then opens again at 8am. Not a problem just something I wanted to know when booking lol overall great stay with great amenities!!! Also you can use the athletic club for free during your stay!
- 5/5
Really good place to stay! Gym, sauna, ++
- 5/5
Nice and convenient location. Classic decor and loved the club room lounge that can be used for share office.
- 5/5
Convenient to our friends’ apartment, shopping and dining.
- 2/5
While the facility was great and the and the amenities were nice the room left tremendously. I noticed entering the room. The smell was somewhat stuffy. The carpet seemed very muggy and dirty. I stepped barefooted on something sticky. There are stains on the carpet. The bed linens felt like I was sleeping on a 300 thread count sheet and the toilet paper was like wiping with sandpaper. Not very suitable if traveling with family or as a female. My husband didn’t seem to mind it very much. Getting ready in the morning our sink clogged while brushing our teeth we went to go have coffee came back in the room, and the sink was overflown with water dripping on the floor. We called the front desk to have the problem resolved, and a service man to fix the problem which later resulted in them telling us to just use the locker rooms to get ready. Me and my husband couldn’t enjoy any personal time because we now have two men trying to fix the sink in the bathroom. We definitely would stay here again slowly based off what the amenities offered. hopefully this review leaves it open for them too fix and improve their issues with the rooms.
- 3/5
Either it was written with small letters or it didn’t say.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay. My room was compact but clean, and had everything I needed. There was a drinking fountain/bottle refill station down the hall, which was nice. The fitness facilities are great and the staff was friendly and helpful. The area outside the hotel is a little sketchy, but that's downtown L.A. these days.
- 5/5
Awesome staff with amazing attitudes, extremely friendly and very welcoming. The gym itself offered everything you could want and need, the facilities were extremely clean!! Will be coming back my next visit.
- 5/5
Great staff, great room, wonderful accommodations, rooftop unbelievable. Smells great. Pool was iconic.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and had a nice layout. Every staff member was extremely polite and knowledgeable! My wife and only stayed for one night so we were able to use all the amenities, but we will definitely go back and stay longer
- 5/5
Love the amenities, and the warmth of the staff.
- 5/5
Great place to stay for the active people!!!
- 5/5
The facilities and amenities were absolutely amazing. All the staff were kind, helpful and knowledgeable about the DTLA area, providing us with several wonderful recommendations for food and activities.
- 2/5
Hotel is nice but the front desk receptionist was unprofessional and treated us like we did not belong making us feel unwelcomed. Placed in a room that was noisy & vibrated often due to extracurricular activities in the sports gym.
- 5/5
This place is a well-kept secret, so I won’t elaborate on what an amazing facility this is! It’s my new favorite hotel/gym in L.A.
- 5/5
A great and unique place to stay. I highly recommend soaking up the atmosphere and amenities.
- 5/5
Not only does it have exclusive health related entire stories, but the rooms are superb. What a delight to stay at LAAC. Next time I'm in LA, I won't think it twice. The front desk person, Maria Cordero, is the absolute best!
- 5/5
Loved the gym with steam / sauna / cold plunge and towel service in the lockers rooms. Will stay again when working in LA
- 5/5
Clean. Quiet. Spacious.
- 5/5
This was an amazing property with excellent amenities! The immediate downtown area was safe but be careful walking too far away from the hotel. Otherwise, we had a phenomenal stay! Be sure to leave time to enjoy the gym and spa!!
- 5/5
I’m not someone who usually would want to repeat a stay at any hotel, but I would with this particular one. The price was a steel for what we got. We really enjoyed the amenities that came with the stay including instructor led classes, open areas to play volleyball, a swimming pool sauna and hot tub. I was able to get a workout in, followed by relaxation in the water before I headed out to explore California.
- 5/5
Our stay was amazing. Came to LA for a quick trip before kids went back to school and they loved the hotel. The pools, gym area and the rooftop area. One suggestion would be to update the bathrooms a bit. The rooms were huge and amazing but shower area was lacking a bit but we had no complaints.
- 4/5
It’s a gym and it wants to stay as a gym
- 5/5
Historical
- 5/5
Outstanding facilities. Clean, waiter and comfortable rooms
- 5/5
No lace like it amazing
- 5/5
Friendly staff, room as described. Walking distance to concert we attended. Parking access was great too
- 5/5
Great place and service. Friendly staff
- 5/5
Amazing. Great facilities. Helpful staff. Accessible location.
- 5/5
Love it
- 5/5
The hotel was great. Super clean, great location, excellent staff, good food . The only problem was the paper thin walls . And of course I was lucky enough to have neighbors that blasted a speaker starting at 4:45am until 7am. Obviously anyone can hear a speaker blasting through the walls but earlier in the day you could even hear people coughing through the walls lol .. but other than that everything about this place was great !
- 5/5
My favorite DTLA Hotel. Amazing staff and great food and drinks. Beautiful building. Clean rooms. Have stayed several times.
- 5/5
Love staying at LAAC!
- 4/5
The main reason I stay here is because of the big desk in the room and the gym & classes. Abe is always very friendly and helpful. The rooms definitely need a refresh especially the bathrooms.
- 5/5
Had a great stay here. I've been here before and after the renovations and it feels nicer and more energetic after the remodel. Having access to the amenities of the club is great as I got to swim and work out. One thing to note is there's a $40+ a day resort fee so if you aren't inclined to use the club's amenities it may not be worth staying here. I'll be back and love that I can have some time to exercise and use the club while on a work trip.
- 5/5
I enjoyed my stay and was convenient
- 2/5
1) This is a grand hotel with very good fitness facilities - not quite Equinox but not far off. 2) Some of the interior design in the fitness and dining areas is a bit thoughtless, and feels chaotic and themeless. That detracts from the polished, old school feel on the ground and hotel room floors. 3) Hotel room showers are quite appalling - power pressure is near non-existent. If you're expecting a good shower after your workout, you ain't getting it in the hotel rooms. 4) Staff don't align with the grandeur of the hotel lobby or the hotel room floors - staff are friendly but they are simply inappropriate for the physical asset. The owners don't seem to make that link because this is a consistent problem in this hotel. 5) Finally, the property is a stone's throw away from the most disgusting square kilometer of any major Western city that I've ever travelled to. Skid Row is a vast human tragedy. And extensive elements of it spread to the hotel's location. I didn't feel safe walking the area - and the fact that the adjacent CVS had 2 armed security guards during the mid-afternoon sort of summed it up. Would I go here again? No. What would have to change? i) Proximity to Skid Row ii) More appropriate staff
- 5/5
Amazing hotel and I loved the basketball court
- 5/5
Was a great stay loved the service and Melissa was so nice at check in definitely will come back or recommend to others
- 5/5
Loved my stay at the LAAC! The amenities were incredible, the staff is super friendly (especially Michelle at the club desk) and I loved the historic feel of the hotel & club! You truly feel like you’ve stepped back in time! Only complaint is I wish the tv was across from the bed in the hotel room, not on the side table. But I honestly didn’t end up watching any tv! Also, it was a little confusing at first figuring out where to enter the hotel once I had left and needed to come back in. I feel like this needs to be better explained to the hotel guests. Also, the walls on the rooms are very thin, so when a family checked into the room next to mine I could hear every word they were saying next door. However, I called the front desk and they were able to make sure the people in the room next to mine didn’t stay too loud! Food at the restaurant was incredible and the bed in the hotel room was incredibly comfortable. Would highly recommend the LAAC!
- 4/5
very nice hotel.
- 5/5
It was so clean & the staff were friendly. The parking garage had lots of space and felt safe despite the area. The room was spacious and nice.
- 5/5
Incredible
- 1/5
I didn't like nor appreciate the lack of transparency regarding charging extra for the athletic club amenities as opposed to it be all-inclusive in the hotel stay. They didn't mention it until check out. Its not worth the stay. Too expensive.
- 5/5
Our stay was amazing! Great location and view of downtown. The breakfast food was delicious! My husband enjoyed the gyms and the rooftop was my favorite place. We will definitely be staying again for any future trips to LA!
- 4/5
Very nice staff but difficult to get bags off the car, no bell hop and the access to the hotel is tricky
- 4/5
I loved the facilities and being able to work from my room to hopping down for a workout. The front desk was very helpful the cleaning service was very nice. I only had a minor problem with the lounge for healthy food options and service speaking english.
- 5/5
What a beautiful place! Enjoyed a one night stay and the room was just beautiful, we were blessed to have Bryan help us at the front desk and he made our stay extraordinary! Can’t wait to come back!
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
We went there to celebrate my husband 40th birthday and to have a break from our little kids. We stayed in the Charlie Chaplin room, it was really cool. However, we were disappointed about how noisy everything is in Downtown LA, we didn’t sleep very good, even with earplugs. Also, the bed wasn’t very comfortable. Other than that, everything else was amazing. The architecture of the hotel is very pretty, the staff is awesome, all the amenities are wonderful, great location too - we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.
- 5/5
I saw a couple of homeless, mentally unstable and druggie people (or looks like it) around and close to the area. Just watch out and be safe. But overall, I loved staying here. Will be back.
- 5/5
We loved the beautiful facilities, especially the squash courts and all of the fitness facilities and options. We also enjoyed the dining and wonderful nooks and crannies to read or work.
- 5/5
The hotel is very clean. The suites are spacious and offer a good view of downtown Los Angeles. I'm never disappointed with the Inventions restaurant which offers good food, service, and music. The gym is top shelf.
- 5/5
Every staff member treated me and my family with kindness and professionalism throughout our three days as hotel guests at LAAC! We had so much fun as temporary members. We enjoyed the pool, workout facilities, and basketball court -- and even received a building tour from Joseph the engineer! The double queen room was generously sized for three people. The food at Invention and Famous Players was outstanding, and it was so handy to be able to call in an order to pick up breakfast. Parking in the garage was also super easy and we loved having in-and-out privileges.
- 4/5
Cool hotel but the road noise was very load with load motorcycles driving by at 3:00 AM jolting you awake. The ownership needs to invest in soundproofing the windows. The hotel is a classic and the gym/pool/locker room very good. The staff onsite are excellent.
- 5/5
Thank you! Elizabeth ("Beth") Unlucky Charms, Five Pint Mary & Founder of Eli Tollie Inc.
- 5/5
The staff was fantastic and the amenities were really great.
- 4/5
Great hotel and very friendly staff. My only issue was the shower. Water temp was very difficult to control. It took quite a while to get hot water and then once we had hot water it was far too hot and we couldn’t cool it down. The hotel itself (bathroom in particular) shows its age, but still a good stay.
- 5/5
Plenty of amenities and great location. Family had fun.
- 4/5
Was not offered any
- 5/5
Loved the library and ballroom area and the onsite cafe
- 5/5
My favorite part of LAAC, of course, is the first class fitness center. Imagine a workout routine and you'll find it at the gym. LAAC's restaurants are very good and I especially enjoy the live jazz performances. I especially wanted to give a shoutout to LAAC during a difficult time in Los Angeles with the curfew. Despite the curfew, LAAC went out of its way to maintain normal operations for its guests. Thanks.
- 5/5
With the protests going on in LA, the staff of the hotel did as little as possible to assist navigating it. I had friends at other hotels that were offering far greater service and support staying safe.
- 5/5
Loved the vibe, cleanliness, staff, and the amenities.
- 5/5
Feels like home. Enjoyed the themed suite.
- 5/5
Pool was FANTASTIC!!!
- 5/5
Nice room
- 5/5
It was amazing. We helped ourselves to the pool, and basketball court. We had a blast. There was 6 total in our party. We were able to get adjoining rooms. When in Los Angeles we will stop here again, we're from Arizona.
- 5/5
super cool everthing
- 5/5
The front desk staff was incredibly friendly at all hours, especially check in at 3pm on a Friday. The room and club were phenomenal. Our family of four was so impressed with everything. We swam, used hot tubs, played billiards, played basketball to name some of things. Location was also priceless.
- 5/5
Loved the hotel. Central location. Great amenities. Superb employees.
- 2/5
The hotel has great potential, but really needs to elevate its hospitality and guest experience.
- 4/5
Great for athletes
- 5/5
I recommend staying here, 10/10 amenities, services, cleanliness, and amazing views! Best hotel in all of LA coming from an Angelino.
- 4/5
I was initially worried bc the surrounding area appeared sketchy with many homeless individuals.Parking is a major concern for me in LA, but LAAC offers a gated parking structure with an attendant & barrier gate, which made me feel secure. The attendant is very helpful and nice! Parking fee: $40/night. There was some miscommunication with the staff bc I was told parking is complimentary but after I received the charge on my credit card it was indeed not complimentary. After 9 PM, the main entrance closes; only access is through the parking structure via a buzzer, and you have to show a guard your hotel card via camera. Overall staff is very kind! My room (Deluxe room, 1 Queen bed, City view) was quite small. The room was compact; the bed and bathroom were in close proximity to the entrance. Unlike other hotels I've stayed at, there was no additional seating area besides the bed. However, it included a desk with a chair, a TV, and a mini-fridge. Despite being near the elevator, noise was not an issue. They also had black out curtains which was a plus. The hotel has numerous amenities: a study area, Olympic-sized pool, indoor track, sauna, cold plunge, gym, weights, and cardio classes. I recommend at least two days to fully enjoy these facilities. Overall the amenities, secure parking, and proximity to LA attractions made this stay worth it!
- 5/5
My biggest complaint as a jeweler is that the room is too dark to work in. I need a well lit room.
- 5/5
All the staff is incredible on this particular trip Abe and Melissa were beyond amazing. Both of them were very courteous, helpful and great to chat with. Everytime I stay here I’m always so excited because the staff receives me so well. I cannot wait for my next stay!
- 5/5
Will stay here from now on whenever in DTLA
- 5/5

- 4/5
Good hotel for sport lovers. Old.
- 5/5
Loved our stay. Really unique decor. Service was fantastic. Enjoyed the athletic facilities and the rooftop. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- 5/5
Everything was great but the attention and service of the people working there from club to hotel was at a level hard to find. Thank you!
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel amenities.
- 5/5
Great staff and customer service
- 5/5
Excellent stay and excellent amenities! Highly recommend, only downside is the noise from the street and homelessness in the area.
- 5/5
Excellent and very helpful staff. Great central location within walking distance to grocery stores and restaurants. Excellent decor throughout with cool history. The spa and fitness amenities were incredible and a highlight of the stay.
- 5/5
Resturants were great staff was wonderful!!!!!
- 4/5
If you are looking for a place to relax and or exercise this is the place for you! I loved sitting in the hot tub, steam room, sauna, and cold plunge at the end of a long conference day.
- 5/5
As always amazing staff ; fantastic facilities and great
- 5/5
- 5/5
Great property will stay here again. Love the gym and the facilities
- 5/5
Amenities are great.
- 4/5
Good property
- 5/5
This hotel was serene & I loved the decor. The staff were very helpful & positive, & the amenities & restaurants were awesome.
- 5/5
Top tier property and staff....Special thanks to Abe and Steve for making this such a memorable experience during our LA stay.
- 5/5
Sauna, steam room and jacuzzi and the 19th century decor. It was great for entertaining friends in. the Invention bar
