I stayed in this hotel way back in 2011 during my official tour and had a great stay for 3 months. Based on my prevous experinece I again opted this hotel during my personal visit along with my family and the stay was perfect. Staffs are very good and helpful. Location is the best if you want to explore LA and visit all the tourist places. The mode of transport to all places are very convinient and easily accessible. There are lot of restaurants and you can enjoy the delicious food either by dining or through online order. It also has kitchen facility and can cook food. Ralph store is just a 15 mins walk and can buy groceries and snacks as per your requirements. The hotel has the self Laundry facility and can be use it with minimal charges. It also has vending machines that has food items, water, chocolates and soft drinks., The hotel authority has also refunded the security deposit of $100 within a week as per the hotel policy. Overall the experience was really good. I would again prefer to stay in this hotel during my next travel to LA.

I was there for only one night. It was fine; no problems, no glitches. It was clean and comfortable. Shower was hot. It was a great location. It is wonderful for being very basic--a very good value. Also, they leave you alone. A bottle of water, as I forgot mine in the car.
- 4.5/5
spacious room with plenty of lighting and available outlets (queen double room). nice location close to downtown/k-town and was not sketchy. room was clean upon entry. was pleased by the aircon working really well as someone who needs a cold room to sleep well! id not use the pool but it looked inviting and if we had time, we would have swam! there is an ice machine and (communal) microwave downstairs, so super convenient. the staff are very friendly and willing to help make your experience better, too! the parking spaces were kind of tight and not sure why parking "head-in" was required. the beds were kind of hard and could be considered uncomfortable by some. do note that the location is not near a freeway so you would need to drive some distance before the closest freeway entrance/exit.

Have stayed there before and had a great experience. Will stay again and again. Rooms are very clean and area is comfortable and easy to get to my doctor's office.
- 4/5
A mid range somewhat scuffed hotel in a good location. There is ample parking.
- 3.5/5
Location is unbeatable for our needs, staff is friendly and helpful, room is spacious enough and comfortable The room carpet is not clean enough; I am assuming this is due to the location (smog/pollution) and other passengers using footwear inside the rooms.
- 4/5
It recently has been upgraded, and it is a good value for a moderate priced hotel. Good access to public transportation, which LA needs. Common amenities are not in the room. No coffee prep set up.(you can request a kettle from the front office.) A microwave set up is on the first floor near the pool, not in the room. No bedside lamps.
- 5/5
Great hotel for its price. Great central location. I have used it for Dodger games and concerts at Staple Center. Super friendly staff atmosphere.
- 5/5
I stayed in an Accessible Room and the room was very spacious and the bathroom was huge. The room itself was clean when I arrived and staff cleaned it everyday which is nice since nowadays other properties only clean every other day or upon request. New towels everyday. I was impressed. The free onsite parking was also nice. There is a security guard ALWAYS watching the parking lot and the property, which is very good. There were landscapers maintaining and cleaning the property. There is a pool, kids having fun. It’s family friendly. The historic Ebell Wilshire Theater is the next street over, walking distance for sure, just a few hundred feet. Korea Town is a couple streets down. Lots of really good food choices nearby. The guy in the front desk was cool, check in and check out were smooth. The keys are actual keys, not cards. I guess that’s all I have to say, the whole experience was nice. I recommend.

The room was clean. The parking was free which was in part why I stayed here. Two of the bus lines (20 and 720) run along Wilshire Blvd and taking the bus to LACMA was easy to do.

The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. Staff were helpful with late check-in, and I appreciated having a 24/7 soccer channel. The building was a bit noisy and the walls seemed thin, especially in the mornings.
- 2/5
Elevator broken, AC noisy, coffee only in outside vending machines
- 3/5
Carpet in room was soiled and big stain. Visually it makes the green carpet look filthy. A huge large circle was on the bottom foot of the bed. Definitely need steam cleaning. Security guard is rude , sits near pool and wet and talks on the phone often and refuses to greet customers
- 4.5/5
The location was central to everything we needed to do. The elevator wasn’t available at one point but it was brief.

Great location. Can walk to the BCD tofu house. The staffs are nice and helpful. Room is clean and new, the smell is okay. Only issues are there was no facial issues in the room, also the kettle I asked for was a bit dirty, had to boiled at least three times to clean the residues inside. Besides that, a valuable stay at a price like this.

We stayed here for 8 days and we felt at home. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is an older version of an Inn where you actually use a key (not a card), so it gave me that quaint vibe. Just a small hiccup was when they gave me a wrong room when I checked in… but this quickly and easily resolved. We got the room with kitchen, and we were very happy with the room. I celebrated my birthday here at the pool and my family just had a beautiful time together. We utilized the laundry with no problem. The parking lot was decent. Overall, highly recommended!
- 3.5/5
The room was clean and acceptable. The room they checked us into had an intermittent vibration noise that I found disturbing, especially since it could go all night. After 30 minutes in the room I asked the desk for a change and they gave it to us without hesitation. No coffee maker in the room. No safe in the room. No fresh coffee even in the lobby. Not too near breakfast establishments.

We needed a clean room and comfortable bed to sleep in and well maintained and clean bathroom of course. Bed might be very hard for some but it was good for us. The room had bare minimums ( no coffee maker or microwave, but there is a quietly working mini fridge) and it was perfect for our needs. However...... And you get to have free parking. The only nightmare was a sound, which I can only assume to have originated from a water heater or something, that comes from the vicinity of the bathroom. Every ten minutes it works up then stops until the morning. We checked-out at 7 am, so I dont know the rest. Like that was not enough, from the same vicinity, we had another terrorizing noise, something just like a handful of glass marbles are dropped to a hard surface makes when the toilet flush was used in another room. The first time it happens, it is terrorizing. The following ones just become irritating as you cannot sleep once you are awake for, remember, there is the incessant water heater noise that accompanies the night. Adding to the frustration, a second, startling noise, sharp clatter, like a handful of glass marbles hitting a hard floor was triggered whenever someone flushed a toilet in another room. While initially alarming, the sound quickly became irritating; once startled awake, sleep became impossible—especially when paired with the incessant rythmic noise of the "possible culprit" the water heater. On another note, although our room was not facing Whilshire, we still received a portion of some traffic noise as well.

Clean, simple and very reasonable. The staff were really nice. I was attending an event at Whilshire Ebel Theatre so it was close and super convienient. A bit of a walk to shops and restaurant in Korea town but the weather was nice I enjoyed the walks.

- 4/5
I had some errands in LA and staying here for a night was good
- 3/5
It was a very nice place, so was the staff, however it was very Noisy you could hear people (teens) being loud out in the hallways and slamming doors. This was a business trip and it was difficult to sleep with the noise. Liked that there was parking, but it was limited.
- 1/5
No shops and the room had a bad smell to it. Did not feel safe and also no lights on side tables.
- 3/5
Not within walking distance of shops, but never more than a 4 minute wait for Lyft. No coffee pot or microwave in a standard room.
- 4/5
The room was clean. I was assigned the accessible room so not sure if this had different amenities, however there were no bedside table/over bed lamps, which seems odd. No in-room coffee/tea service. There is a coffee vending machine near the pool, and a microwave. Pretty bare bones. Also the parking spaces are very narrow and indeed someone nicked my car when parking and left no note (gee thanks). Some rooms are right next to the pool, however the do close it at a reasonable time. Otherwise it felt generally safe, the front desk folks were good. I didn't see a lot of food places nearby. I drove further into Ktown for some coffee on my way out. It was respectfully quite on a Friday night.

Great and affordable hotel!! The bed was extremely firm which wasn’t too much of a problem but wouldve been nice if it was a little softer. The staff was excellent and everyone was very nice. The main problem I had was that there wasn't much of a channel selection on the tv. The tv kept saying there was no internet connection and the hotel wifi didnt show up as an option to connect to. So we couldnt watch any better channels and we couldnt use any of the apps on the tv (netflix, youtube, hulu) which was disappointing :/ But overall a good stay.

Cleanliness and staff were exceptional. The large room was immaculate and kept that way by the housekeeper during my 4-night stay. When I requested an extra pillow, it was brought to my room immediately. The bed was super firm. I was able to check in and check out rapidly. I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. For the competitive price for a no-frills hotel, you could not do better.

While they said the place was clean, that’s correct. No problems with cleanliness, price, check in or location. The problem was that the room had a weird smell. It was rather chilly that night so I turned on the airco, which also worked as a heating device. It worked but the noise was as if there was a plane flying through the room every time the airco kicked in. There was als quite a bit of street noise. The location was ok though, regarding safety.

One thing that bothers me is that there are NO side lamps next to the beds. Only glaring lights from the ceilings. You used to have side lamps which gave the rooms a nice ambiance. Makes the rooms look like a YMCA without them. Also, need to upgrade your towels. The quality is pretty awful and cheapens the room. Other than that, it’s amazing. I’ve been staying there for almost 30 years off and on.

Front desk was friendly. The room was very clean. The maid added little touches when she cleans. Left her a tip. Two downsides: the beds are very very firm with flat pillows, and parking was very tight. If you have anything larger than a minivan, it probably won't fit. Still I give it a five because I was very impressed how nice it was for the price. And they don't charge for parking. Definitely stay there again when in the area. Will bring my own pillow

My daughter and I stayed here because it was close to the Spanish Consulate where she needed to get her student visa to study abroad. We didn’t want to rent a car so we stayed at the Dunes so we could walk. It was updated and very clean. The room was comfortable and spacious.

Older hotel but it has been updated. Clean room with nice size space. I wasn't excited about the microwave being outside, on the 1st floor by the pool.

The hotel is a little ghetto, good location and staff was very helpful and nice. just not that great of a hotel, outdated, the elevator seems to be on its last leg and the hallways are outside.

Overall, enjoyed my stay here. It has a vintage vibe that I appreciated. I know this is considered a budget option for LA, but I still think for this price they could have nicer pillows, towels, etc. It was a good location near Hollywood and had free parking included. One of the better deals in the area and I would probably stay here again.

The room was good, more or less clean. But there was a musty smell that wouldn’t go away even with open window. Also would be nice to have night lamp besides the bed.

The room I booked was nice, clean and roomy. The bathroom seemed as though it might have been recently updated. They have vending machines that only excepts cash, which I used which of course it did not release what I selected. I let the staff member know what happened; instead of him saying I’m sorry and that’s it, he actually took the time to get the key to the machine opened, it and gave me my item.

Great staff
- 4/5
The room was clean but had a heavy cleaning smell. The bed sheets were also clean but not the best comfort of course. And the A/C unit in the room was little loud but still it does the job.
- 4/5
I brought my own coffee pot so all my needs were met. I will recommend to friends and return for another stay in he future.
- 4/5
The rooms are clean but bare; no bedside lamp. white LED ceiling lights. The corridors are concrete and noisy. No dining or breakfast options close by. Poor value for money.
- 4/5
The rooms are carpet and my socks got very dirty from them so I don't think they were very clean. Otherwise the room was clean and nice. The surrounding area is quiet in terms of people walking around, and so it's a little dangerous to walk since a lot of crosswalks have no light and the drivers do not see you. The street is busy but I felt safe. My actual main complaint, and the reason I might not rebook, is that the beds were way too hard for me. I woke up with back pain every day.
- 4/5
Was very pleased with the hotel, with a couple minor exceptions. No coffee in the room, and a faulty coffee vending machine our last day, along with a terrible employee that morning, after excellent experiences the rest of the time. Nice, quiet location, very clean, very friendly people. To bad to have a bad experience on the last day, which took it down from excellent.
- 4/5
The room was fine. A little loud with people taking and a noisy air conditioner. Clean and had good water pressure. Free parking was nice
- 4/5
For our first time traveling to LA on my own, this hotel was nice and easy to
- 4/5
Outdated for sure, plumbing is a little wonky, TV in the room didn’t work. Clean enough, beds are pretty hard. Walkable to Koreatown if you don’t mind a 20-ish minute walk, I enjoyed it. Area nearby is safe, mostly residential. 7-11 right down the street which was nice. AC was good, water pressure was great. Good for a short stay!
- 5/5
The free parking was an incredible amenity. The spots are a bit small but better than nothing. The room was incredibly clean, smelled like bleach and cleaner when we walked in which was a very pleasant surprise. The shower has really good water pressure too! Very comfortable to stay for one night, the hallways and neighbors can be a bit noisy especially because the doors don’t have a piston to close slowly but not too bad. My only wish is that the doors had another deadbolt instead of the handle being the only form of locking the door. All in all, incredibly clean and quiet after turning the a/c on. 100% recommend to anyone doing anything in downtown LA such as Anime Expo (13 mins away).
- 5/5
A pretty nice property that had 24 hour check in, which saves me from the AWFUL BROADWAY INN in LA which is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Thank goodness for the dunes inn wilshire
- 2/5
We were thinking the hotel has jacuzzi and breakfast
- 3/5
We didn’t like how the hall smelled like smoke, towels were not big enough (looked like kids towels) and pillows were not that good neither.
- 4/5
Liked place clean hood staff good location
- 4/5
It was and still is top all around.
- 5/5
Everyone was nice
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
No coffee in the room, so you need $1 bills to purchase coffee from a vending machine for $2 each. It was watery coffee. The motel reminded me of the old Motel 6 without the vibrating bed for $.25.
- 4/5
We stayed for 3 days and it was nice. and it was convenient for our business.
- 5/5
Staff was helpful and overall atmosphere was quite pleasant.
- 5/5
Perfect place and services
- 1/5
Property is clean but dated for sure. Air conditioner is super loud and there is a beeping noise the 2 nights we were there. Sounded like a smoke detector or fire alarm malfunction, reported it but nothing was resolved. It is in a quiet area but not close to any convenience or restaurant.
- 3/5
Nice older property with only a pool as an amenity. Unfortunately the guy working the front desk on Wednesday in the morning was a jerk with no guest relation skills- more of a security guard with a bad attitude. The other staff we encountered were nice and helpful.
- 1/5
Horrible service, employees on site act like street animals instead of customer service representatives , dirty room old applicants stinky room and dingy dirty walls doors everything
- 5/5
Was only staying the night after a wedding, so I can't really speak to the amenities, but it looked nice and I saw people enjoying the pool in the morning. Check in/out was super simple. The front desk is staffed 24/7 which is great, since I wasn't able to check in until 1 in the morning. Parking is a bit sketchy, as the spaces are limited, but there was some street parking nearby (which is limited to 2hrs between 8AM - 6PM so be warned). Considering the location, this is a very affordable and safe, clean, and functional option if you're just looking for a bed and a shower. I did notice there were fairly large minifridges in the rooms, which is a nice bonus.
- 4/5
Great location for visiting LA. Safe area and easy parking. Definitely see myself staying here again.
- 5/5
Front desk was so helpful, parking was free but spots were a little tight. (Mainly because people were parking their big a** cars in small spaces) Room was perfect for one night! Love the fridge & little kitchenette. Beds were comfy and zero hassle checking out. Overall a great price & great stay!!!
- 5/5
Safe Area && Lots Of Surveillance Preventing Theft, Including Garage Parking.
- 3/5
This is a smaller family-owned like property that is driving distance to most places in metro LA. It’s no frills but provides the basics for a safe , comfortable 1-3 night stay. Parking is INCLUDED! Rooms were nicely sized and clean. My only criticism is the ceiling lights are too bright ( florescent like ) and there is a need for a desk/night stand light.
- 5/5
I have stayed at the Dunes Inn Wilshire many times through the years. I simply love the vintage design and overall "vibe"! Unlike other hotels and motels from the 1960s (?), the owners of the Dunes Inn Wilshire have a respect and appreciation for the "old"--and the wisdom not to have remodeled it, which would have made it just like every other hotel, taking away its uniqueness and vintage charm. Bravo to the owners of this hotel for NOT doing that!
- 5/5
Relaxing
- 4/5
The place was incredibly clean and I really mean it. Love the outside designated smoking areas that made it easy and appropriate. Traffic noise from the street was a bit loud, but tolerable. It’s a great value. I definitely stay here again, as I was on a quick business trip and all I really needed was a pillow and some blankets and tv & a nice bath area.
- 4/5
Clean hotel, bed isn’t bad for a hotel bed. Only thing I would recommend is bring earplugs to sleep as the walls are very thin. Also parking is extremely tight spaces. Other than that pretty good stay! Would stay again
- 5/5
Convenient area.
- 3/5
Overall cleaniess was good... but that smell was repulsive.
- 5/5
Ok
- 5/5
Nice quiet place to stay. Great food places nearby.
- 5/5
Second time staying it’s good
- 3/5
Did not like people smoking near my room, and smoke infiltrated my room starting at 11 at night. Did not like noisy neighbors.
- 5/5
Check in was quick and easy!
- 5/5
It was very claen
- 2/5
all of the above
- 5/5
nice place! perhaps we just got lucky but our room seemed recently renovated. I agree, perhaps the one downside is that the floors are carpet, but it didn't really bother us. It seemed to be in a safe neighborhood and had free covered parking which also seemed to be safe/protected. We'll be back to this place when visiting LA!
- 4/5
I really loved the vibe at this hotel. It was really central, had great wifi and was very chill. It was a quick drive to the fun sites to visit and close to my business appointments. The only thing that detracted from the experience was that the cleaning products used gave me a bad headache. I couldn't stay too long in the room as a result. Open a window and you should be fine! I would visit again, but would open the window or crank the a/c to circulate the air.
- 1/5
I then left to get a snack at a local store. 5 minutes after I came back a very Loud angry woman came and pounded on my door screaming that we were disrupting her. I can guarantee we weren’t doing anything out of the ordinary. We just got done driving 8 hours. Also, People smoke on a patio set in the open hallway and the smoke drifts into your rooom. Happened 3 times.
- 3/5
Clean, Comfortable rooms. The first night I was there I was in a room right next to a major road which was very loud. I spoke to the manager and he moved me to another room for the remainder of my stay, which I appreciated. Price was fair and was conveniently located.
- 2/5
The place was old n had an actual key for the door. Bed was uncomfortable n the room wasn’t that clean. Will not come back!!
- 4/5
The area is highly affordable, good neighborhood near nice houses ,providing secure parking in a gated location, offering peace of mind for vehicle safety. The room was clean and equipped with a heater, air conditioning, and a small mini fridge. Guests can access amenities on the first floor such as microwaves, an ice machine, and a snack machine. Overall, I felt safe both while sleeping and when leaving my car parked .
- 4/5
Clean room and great service!
- 4/5
Nice location and friendly staff
- 4/5
We had a fairly good stay here. However, sounds really carried and we were aware of outside noise and our neighbours through most of the night. We loved the area though.
- 4/5
- 4/5
Nice building, close to many things in LA.
- 4/5
There ar no bedside lamps in the rooms. All lights are LED white, making the lighting too harsh. The towels are clean but thin.
- 5/5
And it is very clean. That is very important to me. The room was fine, not cramped, recently remodeled, bathroom fine. Overall, if you are not traveling with a family and planning to hang around a lot in the motel, this place is excellent for sleeping and getting around. It is a hotel – not like a skimpy hostel. And the room was clean and the bed was fine. And less than $100/night. So if this is the kind of place you are looking for (I was) it earns a full five stars from me.
- 5/5
Always a great choice.
- 5/5
We only spent two nights there and did not spend any time at the property other than to sleep. It was convenient for our needs and we would stay there again.
- 4/5
Staff is nice. Inconvenient for restaurants- shopping if you are not driving. There is a bus to go to a store. No coffee pot in room. Was given an outdated hot water boiling pot that had water mineral deposits in it.white dust. They need a small coffee pot and hot paper cups in the rooms. They do have microwaves but it is downstairs outside by the pool area.
- 3/5
Perfect location
- 4/5
We had a short one night stay and I would stay again. It was clean and comfortable. The fridge did not work and no microwave. I did not need them, so no issue. There is no coffee provided in the room or lobby. I did not think it would be an issue but there is none close by either. Next time I will bring my pot! They also had a secure parking lot.
- 5/5
One of the few good, affordable places left in LA. Clean, safe, free parking (!!!), friendly staff. If all you need is a safe, clean place to rest and wash up, this is the perfect place. Cleaner than many of the upscale places I stayed on this same trip.
- 3/5
The pool could not be used- very unclean. The common areas were all very dirty. Lift always dirty. No hot water anywhere available. Vending out of order. Just not thought about well. No directory or info offered by anyone.
- 4/5
Good and cheap option for Central LA
- 4/5
Good property in general. The parking could have been more organized.
- 5/5
Very reasonably priced for LA. Very clean and secure.
- 4/5
Good
- 3/5
This is a classic motel, like in Memento, or countless other movies. The room was clean and well kept. The staff are friendly and responsive. And the price is excellent for the location. We had two issues. First, the beds were very hard. Some people like this, but we had to sleep on top of extra blankets. The other issue is that the A/C (actually heat in our case, but it’s a single unit), even though it appeared to be relatively new, rattled loudly enough that we were not able to keep it on. This wasn’t a big enough deal to fuss about - we didn’t need it much, and I’ve been in much better hotels where the A/C/heat had issue, including being loud, but it’s something the hotel may want to look into. Also, heads up that the elevator is small and old, the door actually got stuck partly open/closed a couple times. Again, not a huge issue - it’s only a 3 story place, so you don’t have to wait long, and it doesn’t seem like a safety issue - but something they may want to look at repairing.
- 5/5
We had a nice stay. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend!
- 5/5

- 5/5
Everything is OK
- 4/5
It was a good place for two nights.
- 5/5
Clean and reasonable rates.
- 4/5
The bed was very comfortable! Very firm and good sheets. I just wish they would have had complimentary coffee somewhere.
- 3/5
The team of staff are nice and helpful.
- 3/5
This stay was okay, a lot of reviews said the beds were dirty, but not in my case.. parking is a struggle as the night goes on, it gets packed.
- 2/5
The heater made very loud noise. Bathroom windows locked open.
- 5/5
Have stayed at Dunes Wilshire several times great location very close to downtown LA food shopping and tourist attractions without the crowds highly recommended very comfortable and pleasant staff
- 5/5
Very clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would have liked to have some breakfast options available.
- 5/5
Nice comfortable room, we were by the roadside so there was some noise but it was;t so bad. Only negative is there were no bedside lamps of any kind, it was full light or nothing. Great central location.
- 5/5
The room was immaculately clean and there was alot of space. It was secure and convenient for our needs.
- 3/5
Pros - clean, great staff, good location Cons - the mattresses and pillows are awful, I woke up with neck pain every day. - shutters don't block sun light - thin walls - sucks if you have loud neighbors - wifi can be unstable and not password protected - heater isn't consistent - comes in and out Overall decent stay for warmer weather but not sure for colder weather when people are inside more. The mattress and pillows alone make me not want to come back even though everything else is great.
- 4/5
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are tidy and always well maintained.
- 4/5
Good safety. They have guards at nite and area seems safe.
