Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating the cleanliness, location, and friendly staff. However, there are consistent complaints about the outdated facilities, hidden fees, and poor service in the restaurant. Some guests also mention issues with the rooms such as noise, broken amenities, and cleanliness.

The hotel itself on the outside looks pretty ran down. But the inside is beautiful it’s definitely aesthetically pleasing. Staff was OK. We had issues with parking.

If you are a light sleeper and get room 1009, ask for a different room. The restaurant is directly above it, and chairs are being moved making noise until after midnight. Then around 3:30-4:30 am the food deliveries are made. Very loud rolling cart noises and boxes being dropped on the floor above. When I brought it up to the front desk, they gave me ear plugs. Great view, convenient location, but we didn't get much sleep!

Great location.

Muy bonitas instalaciones ,solo que el personal habla poco español para ser frontera si deberian de tener personal que lo domine mejor

Great location, not as hectic as the cove, but easy access to the beach. Nice restaurant/bar with stunning views at sunset. Room was nicely appointed, if a little dated in aspects. Balcony was great. I paid for all the extras on booking.com and didn't get all the extras by any means: - king size bed (x) we had 2 queen beds for our anniversary. :-/ - high floor (x) 4th floor as there were no high rooms left due to overbooking - $50 f&b voucher per day (x) was given $50 in total, supposedly due to the first two points, not because I paid for them - early check-in/late check-out (partial) got a late check out, but requests for early checkin went unanswered and our room wasn't ready until 4pm anyway. I would advise others not to pay for extras on here since the hotels don't honour them.
- 4/5
Loved the bed and the property. A little loud from street traffic, but that’s to be expected based on location. Neighbors doors slamming constantly was a bit loud but we also just may have had inconsiderate guests next door.

I do want to acknowledge that the receptionist was kind and genuinely tried to help us. The manager was initially dismissive, which made the situation more upsetting. To their credit, they did move us into the correct room the following day, and that helped somewhat. Unfortunately, the experience still affected the enjoyment of our trip. When guests reserve a specific room, they expect the hotel to honor that reservation from the start. I appreciate that the issue was eventually corrected, but I wish it had been handled more professionally from the beginning.
- 2/5
We were told air conditioning would be fixed for our whole stay, nothing got better. No apologies, or even a room change. Not sure how they can stay in business??
- 5/5
Much improved over a couple years ago the restaurant is excellent and we come to this hotel every couple of months because of its proximity to family
- 4/5
Excellent location walkable to beautiful La Jolla Shores beach. Room was clean enough, but worn. Self parking was handy, so we didn't have to wait for valet. We originally were assigned a room overlooking the pool, but there is loud music playing all day from 10am until 8pm. Thankfully, they were able to move us to another room further away from the music.

There was a leak and my room was soaked including my belongings. Building is old and needs repairs. Would not come back

Rooms were renovated, service not so good (2-3/5), and first time when getting into hotel they didn’t explain anything

front staff has poor communication skills. They charge you double for parking. There’s a late check in and early check out. They don’t give deposits back. stay away

Very minimal amenities. No hot tub.

The ocean view room doesn't really have an ocean view, you can only see the ocean through the holes between trees.

Great location. Hotel and rooms were clean and well appointed and modern. Location close to beach and restaurants is a plus
- 5/5
Wonderful hotel and location. Beautiful lobby and great views from the top floor bar/restaurant. We would definitely stay here again.

Room 910 provides a lovely view of the sunset as does the Sea & Sky restaurant. Our room was well maintained and clean. Overall, a great location with friendly staff and they make a pretty good Old Fashioned!

The parking was safe and easy, the housekeeping was kind and friendly, the front desk didn’t make me feel welcomed and we had to wait until 4:40 pm for check in so past check in time even though they told me it was ready. It was my birthday weekend and the staff wasn’t the best at pivoting any special requests. Will not stay again.

Our stay was very good, however, my son left a very expensive hoodie hanging in the closet affer we checked out. We called the hotel on the way to the airport but of course none of the housekeeping staff had found the hoodie. I know the hotel isn’t responsible for personal items but I fell that we were robbed.

Hotel is falling apart and dirty. I could hear sound all night (hall) and from the room above. The finishes inside the room are in poor condition and falling apart. Wouldn’t recommend…

Just horrible! Over priced, staff not helpful
- 4/5
Nice lobby but the rooms need updating, I was a little sad they didn’t offer early check in, We had to wait a little after 4pm to get our room, but one lady at the front desk was really nice and polite aware of the situation, at the end it was worth it to enjoy the ocean view.

The room was good. A little dated and worn but overall a nice stay and would be back. The view and balcony made it worth it

We had a room on the tenth floor with a balcony and a beautiful view of the ocean! Very spacious room! Really loved the location of this hotel: Walking distance to La Jolla Village and the beach! Staff was excellent and very friendly!
- 5/5
Yes it is a partial view. In general all rooms have a good view.
- 5/5
No ocean view
- 5/5
Beautiful ocean views, especially from higher floors. The staff was wonderful and they have a great restaurant and bar on the 11th floor with amazing views. There is a $45 parking fee per night, but parking is super expensive everywhere in LaJolla. There is also a $30 r sort fee daily but they give you a $30 daily food and beverage credit. I loved this hotel. Smallish, has character, older but rooms are nice and well kept.
- 4/5
We were given a room with a balcony on the second floor with a view of roofs and part of the pool deck. No sight of the beach. The lobby, room and bath had been redone recently and felt fresh; the building is older. We took the cycling of the ac compressor as our wave machine and let it muffle a lot of outdoor and traffic noise. Nice people, easy walk to shops and beach.
- 1/5
Hidden fees, the hotel was atrocious, dirty, and in horrible condition. Honestly I don’t feel safe for the 6 hours I could stand to be there. Listen to the bad reviews!!! They changed my room twice and each time the rooms were equally as disappointing. Thankfully they refunded the two days I didn’t stay but other than that it was awful.

Hotel is newly remodeled in most areas of the property. The room could use a little more updating, but it’s still nice. For example, carpet and tile old. Shower tiles if you can get past those things, the location is fantastic. I do wish the bedding was a little more comfier- kinda old and worn. Not as crisp as other Curios. There is no valet. It’s $45 to park and although there is a gate, there is a sign that says not responsible for your car. The only reason I mention it is because the ad says secured parking. There is a $30 mandatory fee that you can use on the property. There aren’t a lot of choices, but I did use it to buy my kids food. The coffee was not great. Powder creamer and random coffee pods. There is a Starbucks next door so I walked over there and got instant coffee and purchased a mug because there are only paper Dixie cups which are kinda bad for hot beverages. I love my morning coffee so this was a must for me. Over all a good stay. The staff were nice. I didn’t have a bad experience with them like other reviews. The walls a really thin. Another review mentioned it sounded like tables were being moved above their room and mine sounded like that too. I got used to it. No I didn’t mention any of this to the front desk- I didn’t want to because I just wanted to enjoy my quick trip. If you want to be very close to LJ Shores and a clean room that’s modern, this is a great choice.

Room was very clean. Amazing view of the sunset and beach. Walked to the beach very easily. The restaurant on floor 11 was amazing and indoor so not cold very warm and service + food was incredible. Very friendly staff and we were able to walk to La Jolla to see the seals but it was very up hill ,take uber if you’re not an active person. The best part of this hotel was how dog friendly they are. Very accommodating we had a blast.

My room was given away!! I called and left a message explaining that my plane was delayed 3 hours out of Dallas and I would miss my train for 12/3. Once I arrived at the hotel on 12/4 I was informed I no longer had a room. I, filed a complaint with Hilton’s corporate office because of the poor treatment! I’m able to receive a full refund if you’re in agreement that I should be refunded for the hotel giving my room away. I made every attempt to communicate and even kept proof my plane was delayed and having to reschedule my train ticket date.

Avoid - I suggest staying at any other hotel in the area if your goal is good night sleep.... does not meet the Curio Standard.... you are paying 3x the price for room that is on par with a Ramada....the elevator smelled like urine.... I could go on and on.... got no sleep ... the mattresses had to be 20 years old ....

Our weekend stay was amazing. The room was nice and clean and don’t get me started on the gorgeous ocean view. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the sunset. Front desk staff were pleasant and even offered us complimentary champagne at check in. We went to sea&sky restaurant upstairs for happy hour, drinks were alright but the bartender Jimmy wasn’t too friendly…just seemed like he didn’t want to be there but nonetheless it was still cool to have some drinks and see the view. Would definitely book here again :)

My issue was the front desk asking for a deposit for incidentals which we knew nothing about then asking if we drove and would we need a parking pass instead of disclosing there would be a parking pass fee, she did not and at the ens of the stay we were charged $45 which i am not happy about because had she told us there would be a $45 fee to park for one night we would have parked up the street. Hidden fees not disclosed up front.

The location is excellent - not too far from the airport and easy access to beaches and La Jolla. The lobby and outside patio/bar/pool area are very cool and perfectly California chic. The room was very comfortable. The ocean view was amazing. Probably due to the fact that hotel room doors are all exterior doors, we would get smoke smells wafting into the room periodically. The bathroom is getting to the point where it needs to be updated again or regrouted around the shower.

The most frustrating issue was the lack of transparency around fees. A $45 nightly parking charge was not disclosed during booking on Expedia, and I only learned about it after arriving at the property. Mandatory fees like this should be clearly stated upfront—discovering them later feels misleading and erodes trust. Unfortunately, the experience went further downhill when I decided to shorten my stay. Despite checking out early, the hotel refused to provide any refund or adjustment, showing little flexibility or willingness to work with the guest. While I understand policies exist, the rigid handling—especially in light of undisclosed fees—left a very poor impression. For a Curio Collection property, I expected a more refined experience and better guest-focused service. The location is convenient for La Jolla, but location alone doesn’t compensate for surprise charges and inflexible customer service. Had pricing been transparent and guest concerns handled with more consideration, my impression would have been very different.

The previous guest threw their drug syringe on the ground of the private patio attached to my room. The cleaning staff never cleaned it up. While eating breakfast with my 2 year old son, I spotted it luckily before he did. I reported it to the staff expecting it to be cleaned up immediately. I came back in the evening and it was still there, even though the cleaning staff cleaned the room. Seems like the cleaning staff only clean the room, but not the patio. So if guests are doing drugs on the patio and drop something, your child will be in extreme danger, like mine. I reported it again to the hotel staff in the evening, but this time I was furious. They said the cleaning staff would come immediately but they didn't. I called again and asked why the delay - they said "they must be busy with other guests". What could be more important than removing drugs from a room where a toddler is staying. The staff there were like robots - repeating "I apologize for the inconvenience" like a broken record. My child could have died or got seriously injured. Naturally, I packed everything up that evening and got out of there immediately. When I got home, I also filed a police report warning that a child is going to die in that hotel if drastic changes are not made to their cleaning policy, and prohibiting the usage of drugs in their hotel. This place looks so nice on photos, but don't let that fool you like it did me. The used syringe on the ground - which put my child's life at risk.

It's an elegant hotel in some ways -- lobby, grounds, rooms, the 11th-floor bar and dining room. The location is good -- 1/2 mile from the beach, a bit off the main drag but quiet, walkable. The gym was nice. The staff were friendly. The various fees really inflated the cost of staying there ... I wasn't told about the $45/day parking fee, and the 'resort fee' of $30/day (credited toward paying for things on site, eg eating in the restaurant) was also a surprise. Clearly a strategy to get people to eat at the hotel restaurant, which fortunately is very nice, gorgeous view, but expensive. The room entrance, from an outdoor concrete balcony, had a slightly motel feel, even on the 5th floor, but I think that's just the old building stock in this part of Cali. It's kind of a regional character element, maybe slightly charming. I enjoyed staying there but I wouldn't go again.

Feel like i was given the worst room despite being Hilton gold snd Expedia platinum . Was right beside lift, ice machine, and housekeeping. The doors dont offer much in terms of sound proofing so was woken constantly. Music played from the from entrance that front desk said "oh we turn that down if people ask". Why have music playing so loud you can hear it in the rooms in the first place?

The rooms need a deep clean I noticed the basic things like the fridge is dirty and so were the room phones greasy it should be spotless for that price … one of the staff members was really nice the guy who took our luggage upstairs we did not catch his name but he really made us feel welcomed unlike the front desk girl she definitely does not like working there. Its really pretty inside but the rooms need some upgrades and a deep clean is my overall take. The front girl at the desk was not so welcoming when arriving and the cleanliness to the room really lacked its need a remodel some of the things inside the room are super old you can tell they dont maintain that hotel as good as it should be for the price they charge

I called in around 3pm stating that I will be checking in late with my friends later at night and they said that would be fine. And they called me around 10pm and saying that they have assigned my reservation to another location without my consent. So i told them they couldn't do that because the reason I am staying at the hotel is because I am traveling with my friends. they said they couldn't do anything about it. So I had to come home and my friends were there. So Now I have to drive back there to pick up my friends now. It's an hour and half away. What kind of Hotel does that? Also they charged full amount. I need that back right away.

Great location, walking distance to the beach and an adorable street with lots of places to eat/shop. The staff was fantastic and Eddie at the top floor restaurant made us feel so welcome!

Location, vibe, parking, cute rooftop bar, large balcony The shower did not drain well at all. It was pretty gross to stand in basically all of our shower water after being at the beach.. when it finally all drained later on the shower floor looked gross

The stay was ok. Everything was cleaned. Older hotel. We made it a bit early and front staff didn’t accommodate until about 5 hours later. I understand the check in time, however I approached the front desk 3 times, no avail until the last front desk clerk took my question and we were accommodated less than 30 minutes. I felt the first clerk just blew me off. The second clerk was accommodating. The area was very slow not much to do. Uber to the pier/Coronado area was expensive. Parking at the hotel was $42/night. I also booked breakfast/meals but that was very confusing I still had to pay.

Its like a renovated motel 6. The rooms are OK in size but the bathrooms and showers are tiny and pretty beat up with a damaged door and unfinished sink area. It is definitely not worth the price.

Hotel is aging and it shows. There was an unexpected daily fee of $30 on top of your room costs that I wasn’t made aware of until check-in. The shower privacy screen was broken and had to be repaired before we could shower. The dinner menu for the restaurant was not updated on their online portal which caused some confusion. Charged $25 for a late check out but my room key was turned off early and someone knocked on the door to “check on late check out rooms” even though the deadline had not yet arrived. Location, however, was amazing. Easy walking distance to the beach. Starbucks right there next to the property.

What really stood out, though, was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was kind, attentive, and went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable and cared for. Their genuine hospitality made our stay even more memorable. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful getaway with amazing views, a prime location, and an outstanding team that truly goes above and beyond.

The gym was really updated, clean and well equipped. The bikes were nice to explore La Jolla shores area and the beach. The pool was nice (and heated) although it was more overcast when we went so we didn’t stay long. It was nice that sunscreen was provided! The room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfy. The view of the ocean was amazing! Parking was a little expensive ($42/day) but there wasn’t another option. It was at least convenient and close. All of the staff we interacted with were so friendly and accommodating. I would absolutely stay here again if going to La Jolla!

We took a family vacation, La Jolla is a favorite. This property had beautiful views from the 9th floor, very convenient to walk to grab coffee or food, even to the beach if you’re not carrying too much stuff with you. Drinks and food were good from the restaurant! Housekeeping came by daily to tidy up. We loved it and will be back again.
- 3/5
Staff were wonderful. The room was a bit tired, the privacy screen on the shower has been handled and showed very obvious wear and tear. The restaurant staff were very attentive and the breakfast I ordered was fantastic - very fresh ingredients and presentation was lovely even for takeout.

Beautiful views from the higher floors! Great staff

Interesting take on a boutique hotel, which was completely redone. Penthouse restaurant is excellent but expensive. The views from the restaurant are amazing. The pool area seem nice, but it was pretty cold and foggy most of the day so it was not used.
- 3/5
Hotel is older and located on a noisy intersection. Staff was nice and room was clean with a decent view. Pool was average. Bikes were available. It is walking distance to beach & restaurants. Not sure it’s the best value for the money.
- 4/5
Nice room, good view. Silly policy with the $30 credit everyday for the room to spend - it was confusing how you could use the credit and if it could be rolled over to another day or not. No complimentary coffee in the lobby - had to go upstairs to order coffee to go, very inconvenient because one had to find a waiter to get the coffee, which by the way was $11 for two cups of drip coffee. Pool area just ok - no hot tub. The beach was great - but it is 5 blocks away.
- 4/5
Location, room, balcony, staff Cleaning lady did not good job: clumps of hair and cut nails were lying around in the bathroom and bedroom when we arrived and never cleaned. dust was not wiped off everywhere. Expensive parking. First floor bar needs to be open all the time. Upper floor restaurant overpriced. Elevator is a shame!
- 1/5
When I reached there I was informed that room is not available as there is some drainage issue. And I was given a room in Lodge hotel. I am still waiting for the compensation from the hotel.
- 2/5
The bed was ok i guess because i kept getting up all though the night, because the room was so hot! We got a room with great views but the noise above us was not worth it. Our room was above the dinning room. We ordered food ans never got to our room. We got locked out our room because the door needed to be charged, that took 20 min and the food that i bought got cold and no i can't heat it up because they're no microwave in the room.
- 4/5
Rooms are nice Pool could be much better
- 1/5
But was charge daily. Small pool area. Outside bar wasn't open. Stayed on 10th floor. Restaurant on 11th floor. I can hear people talking and chairs moving in my room from the restaurant. Very disappointed with stay. Hilton needs to do better.
- 1/5
I booked this room 3 weeks in advance and I did not get the 2 Queens as requested. They could not accommodate and my husband needs to sleep alone due to cancer. It was a awful night for him and me!
- 2/5
The room was not cleaned to meet the basic standards. Pillows were as flat as pancakes, linens were yellowish and of low quality. Dinner was overpriced compared to the professionalism of kitchen and dining staff. The entire stay was quite unpleasant.
- 4/5
Elevator down
- 4/5
Nice stay aside from the broken elevator. It was also unfortunate only able to recover $30% of my security deposit. Supposedly there’s a $42 parking fee and a destination fee that isn’t mentioned at check in or the Expedia app during booking. There should be more transparency and no excuse for surprise fees from a billion dollar hotel conglomerate.
- 2/5
Poorly managed and mediocre at best. Poor staffing, no security and one operational elevator. We were told by staff that second elevator has been disfunctional for over a year! Shame on Expedia for not letting customers know.
- 5/5
the girl at the front desk was kind and noligable about the area

1. Housekeeping left our door open all day after cleaning one day. We did not get back until the evening, and our door was ajar. I addressed the issue with the Hotel Manager and she said she would look into it and get back to me, that never happened. This is a major security and safety issue that should be a major red flag to anyone looking to stay at this property. 2. There was supposed to be a Fourth of July party from 11 to 7 in the pool area with food at some point. The bar was rarely staffed and no food had been put out all day, at least until we left just before 6. The front desk kept saying they would look into it but it was the restaurant's responsibility. 3. Service at the rooftop restaurant was very poor the first night, but we had outstanding service for breakfasts!
- 3/5
Everything was fine with check in and there was plenty of parking. Walk to the beach was nice as well. My daughter and I entered the room and right away went to look at the ocean view, it was beautiful! The bathroom though was a little hazardous and dirty. There was a screw in the shower stall and nails on the bathroom counter under a towel. There were blemish patches left on a bathroom shelf from a previous occupant.
- 4/5
Don't miss the restaurant on the 11th floor. The Red Snapper is terrific.
- 4/5
This hotel was good. We enjoyed our one night here, although only having one elevator working was a downside as we had to wait 10-15 min on an occasion due to renovations. Other then that we enjoyed our stay.
- 3/5
The ocean view from the restaurant was beautiful. The elevator situation needs to be fixed. The hotel only had one elevator that was working for eleven floors. We had to take the stairs several times because the elevator was taking so long.
- 4/5
Location was nice, room was clean. Only one working elevator was very inconvenient
- 3/5
I think it's clever though there is a poster at every elevator advising the guest to "Your Wellness Journey Starts Here" aka "Take the stairs." LOL It's really sad to see the toll it takes on the staff as well. :(
- 3/5
It’s in the middle of renovations and has only one elevator operating.
- 5/5
Everything very clean and room service was really good Elevator didn’t work
- 5/5
Excellent view of the ocean and balcony! The food at Sea & Sky is excellent too! The bed was like a cloud of comfort. The view, the food, the bed were all superb! There was only one elevator and the AC didnt work. But who needs AC when you have the ocean air. Loved the room and the property. There is something special about this property/hoel.
- 5/5
It was seamless, and the view was beautiful. We loved the location as well as the cleanliness, and we also liked the overall modern style and decor of the hotel - it was beautiful.
- 2/5
However, the walk to the beach (and shops and restaurants) was lovely, so if that's your main objective and you're not expecting a resort experience, you'll be just fine.
- 3/5
This was the second time that I have stayed there and both times the elevator does not work. It takes forever to get up and down the elevator. Too much road noise
- 4/5
The hotel was okay. I enjoyed the view from my hotel room. The room was pretty and clean. I didn’t have any issues besides the extra fees. The extra charges are pretty ridiculous. They charge a fee for $30 per day for a resort fee on top of $48 a day to park there.
- 2/5
The toilet did not work in my first room. I was moved to a second room. The room key did not work for that room upon initial entry. And then, the following day, the air conditioner wouldn’t work. I was right by an exit which was extremely loud throughout the day and night. Really disappointed in the hotel. On a positive note, the issues were promptly resolved, it was just a pain.

The coffee maker wasn’t working. I had to call the front desk 2 times (waiting 20 mins in between the calls) and eventually going to the front desk myself so they are sending someone upstairs. Turns out the entire electricity outlet area near the coffee maker wasn’t working. I asked about how to access the pool around 9pm. They told me how to access but never told me the pool hours ends at 10pm so after I got changed and went to the pool, it is closed. And they didn’t tell anything about pool hours at check in too- normally other hotels I’ve been to will tell you. Had breakfast at the hotel, got charged $6 for a cup of tea made of tea bag ( there is no price for tea listed on the menu, there is price listed for other beverages like the juice). $6 I can buy a whole box of tea bags. The room is small, their picture listed on the website made it look big. Also they say ocean view but if you live on 6th floor or below, you can hardly see any ocean - it’s being blocked by trees. Overall, horrible experience!

I had a great stay here for a work trip
- 4/5
Nice hotel and Id stay again... was bot impressed with the parking, security gates were not user friendly and had to have my security card reprogrammed in the rain.
- 5/5
Everyone was so nice! Also, the views and proximity to the beach are great. We’ll definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
This hotel EXCEEDED my expectations. Absolutely stunning and perfect location near the beach. Will book again!
- 4/5
Great service, friendly staff across the board! Could use some tune ups... Keurig wasn't functioning correctly in the room, bike brakes weren't fully working, but beautiful views, comfortable rooms, and loved the Sea and Sky restaurant for brunch!
- 5/5
I loved how clean it was and the neutral colors of the room decor made it feel very comfortable and welcoming.
- 5/5
Like it
- 1/5
Fruit flies coming from the bathroom, water smells very digusting and our room is located next to the exit and workers kept slamming it thru out the whole duration of the stay. People on the front desk made us wait exactly 4pm to let us know our room is ready but checked the people right behind us check in 20 minutes early. Mind you we are minority and the people behind us are white and looked rich so we felt ignored and not treated fairly
- 5/5
Awesome white beach.
- 1/5
I like everything around but not hotel and service in hotel. I will never go to that hotel again. Elevator didn’t work well at the time we stayed there and when we checked out from room one lady state that the elevator is not working, and I had to carry my baby with a stroller and all my clothes and things by myself going down by stairs, five floors damaging my spinal cord, which is has surgery in past months really disappointed with this Hotel. Poor pool service very dirty and small. Not recommend for staying there.
- 5/5
This place has been great for us when it's available. Staff is always nice and it has beautiful views.
- 5/5
Cute hotel. Close to our favorite part of La Jolla!
- 1/5
The restaurant staff were incredibly rude! There was a lady that served that was wearing a wig that was very rude and didn’t even care of the customers. At breakfast there was a server lady from Afganistán was was also super rude! There was one elevator working which took ages to get in. I would definitely not stay there again
- 5/5
Perfect location, convenient, clean. Restaurant is nice. Parking could be included in price.
- 5/5
Great staff and superb views!
- 4/5
All around great. Only downside is no in room microwave. Otherwise great option to stay
- 5/5
highly recommend hotel. nice and clean and staff was great !
- 3/5
The hotel was updated but it still seemed pretty old like they partially updated some things. It was not as clean as I would have hoped and the carpet had stains everywhere and the shower did not drain properly. The elevator was really slow and old and I don’t like how they told us there was an extra $30 fee per night but we would be comped with food and beverage credit, basically forcing us to spend $30 at their snack bar or restaurant each day. Also the parking is expensive for how small the place is. The location is great but that’s about it.
- 3/5
First impression is the facility is pretty outdated. There was only one elevator in operation, due to renovation. I ended up having to take the stairs up and down from the 6th floor, since the wait time for the elevator was so long. The A/C wasn’t fully effecting. We had the temperature in the room set at 65 degrees, and it still felt a lil warmer than that.
- 5/5
Easy check-in with the Hilton app and convenient access. Beautiful ocean views if you get rhe rooms that have the ocean view. Pay a little extra for the high-floor upgrade was totally worth it. Restaurant is amazing. Great quality foods, beautiful ambiance, amazing view, and attentive staff. Terrible how the weekends seem to fly right by when you're trying to relax.
- 3/5
Hotel was definitely lower quality than expected for the price. There were 2 elevators. One was not working at all. The other was only working some of the time. The hotel was obviously older and some things had been redone or covered up but other things like the carpet and lights were clearly not updated. When you look at photos of the hotel, it appears that it is inside but access to rooms is actually via outside doors. Rooms were good size, good views, bed were clean and comfortable and lobby was nice.
- 4/5
Great location, lovely view, helpful front desk staff
- 3/5
The property was well located for my stay in la jolla but i was very disappointed with the service, room cleaning, and staff attitude. Certainly not what you expect from a Hilton property and the price you pay.
- 2/5
Overall aside from the location, there was nothing great about this hotel. They charge a destination fee that they try to give you back as credit for their roof top restaurant. However, everything on the menu is very $$$. Aside from that, the restaurant staff was very rude when we just had coffee and not eat cos it was so $$$! The room was cleaned everyday, so I’ll give the cleaning staff credit for that. Only one elevator was operational, which delayed us quite a bit, just having to wait for it. At best this hotel is 2 stars!
- 1/5
First room, AC didn’t work, the fridge didn’t work. They moved us rooms but no apologies or anything for our inconvenience. We called to have assistance with another matter and they told us they would call back and they didn’t.
- 5/5
Hotel La Jolla exceeded my expectations with a perfect score of 100/10. I will certainly return, as the guest service was exceptional and the dining on the top floor was delightful. Additionally, there was a conveniently located gas station nearby for drinks, and the beach was just a short 10-minute walk away. I truly loved every aspect of this hotel.
- 2/5
Snacks were supposed to be free. They weren’t and they were expensive. Very misleading
- 5/5
Great location, view, friendly staff and within walking distance to the Beach and shops!

This hotel is in a great location with a short walk to shops, restaurants and the beach. They have bikes available, a great 11th floor restaurant , and the nicest staff you will ever find! Highly recommend

room and view were very very nice however it was quite loud as the walls were pretty thin and is close to a highway. Otherwise the bed was comfortable, the room was overall clean and the bathroom was nice.

It doesn't meet a the Hilton collection standard
- 5/5
The hotel is nice-friendly staff and clean rooms and grounds. The location is great! It is within walking distance of La Jolla Shores beach and shopping/dining area. I will stay there again!
- 4/5
Staff was excellent at front desk and restaurant upstairs! A little bummed to see that the poolside bar and dining wasn’t open yet. Made the most of the pool nonetheless. Room was great with a beautiful view. The bathroom was a little musty without great ventilation. Only 1 elevator in operation for staff and guests so sometimes it took a bit to get places but we were luckily in no rush.
- 1/5
The place was way too expensive to be so far from the main areas of attraction, as well as not having the ocean views they advertised. During my stay the elevators were terrible and dated. The hallways were old and dated.
- 5/5
Great hotel. Nice view from the room, modern furnishings, very friendly staff. Short walk to the beach and some restaurants. Pool was nicely heated. Would stay there again.
- 4/5
I liked the location of the property, I enjoyed the view and that its not int the hub yet close enough and walkable to the beach and eateries. The Sea and Sky restaurant has an amazing view and the food was good. The rooms are nice but the common area outside the room is dated. Need to renovate that and the elevator. There was only one working elevator during our visit. Overall I enjoyed our 3 night stay and the stay were very accommodating and friendly.
- 4/5
Dated
- 2/5
Property was nice for most part but the room next to us was loud all night and in morning at 7 am they started playing loud music and smoking weed which came into our room. I messaged hotel got a response maybe 30 min later. They said they would come up and speak to them and no on ever showed up. Listened to their loud music and talking We ended up checking out Ruined our anniversary weekend

an amazing stay was ruined by whoever was answering your phone at your hotel. We asked for a late check out and we’re told it had to be a full day charge. I said OK and said that I would stay till the next day but then they said I couldn’t stay because the hotel was sold out and that I would still have to pay half a day charge for a couple of extra hours how ridiculous we ain’t in a restaurant every night and spent four to $500 and loved the food we ate breakfast two or three times while we were here and spent $100 or more each time we were good guests and they ruined our feelings towards the hotel. We will not stay here again. He offered us no solution and no other option. I was very upset.
- 5/5
Hotel is a great location and watching sunset over the ocean was beautiful. The only negative I have is the lack of a hot tub.
