Reviews
The hotel has a beautiful location and view, with friendly staff and good food at the restaurant. However, there are issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and service, including problems with parking, charging for amenities, and unresponsive front desk staff.

Stayed for my birthday and was great! The views beautiful and the pool was relaxing. Will definitely be back!

Fantastic location but getting outdated. Restaurant is “boring”, limited menu and service not the best

Location is great, rooms are big and clean, bathrooms are clean and well kept.

I've stayed here twice once I booked through you and had an excellent trip. Second time I stayed here I booked through booking .com and was treated like crap. Room downstairs facing a wall. Bed felt like concrete I woke up in pain multiple times. Check in was 4 instead of 3 felt like a rip off. Ordered something and front desk gentleman was short and made us wait forever we had to call back. Music blasting all evening from pool area front desk it was normal and would stop later. Don't book through a third party or else you get treated like peasants

Nice views and great to watch sunset

Well maintained hotel. I love the free drink at check in. Self parking fee feels a bit higher than expected given there is already resort fee.

One of my favorite places to stay. So convenient and beautiful views. Plus the staff is super friendly. The only room for improvement is with the elevators. The garage elevators to the hotel are always finicky but this trip, someone got stuck in one. I was nervous to use it after that and just walked to and from the garage instead. Not great when you have luggage, though.

Room not very clean, mold, chipping paint and chipping grout in the bathroom. Shampoo and body wash were very cheap feeling and strong odor. Old rusty chairs at the pool and all over the property. Desk staff were no friendly and didn’t smile. Very unenthusiastic. Parking and food are very overpriced.

Plumbing seemed to be an issue in my room. The restroom (and consequently the whole room) smelled awful from the moment I walked in. And I heard every toilet in the hotel flushing all night.

The property has beautiful grounds and nice amenities like the pool and the fire pit. The coffee at the kiosk was delicious. Food at the restaurant was good and the service was great. The room was run-down and dated. There was an overall smell that was musty and unpleasant, not just in the room but throughout the building. Maybe it was due to being so close to the ocean but it was definitely noticeable. I was disappointed that we couldn’t access walking trails near the hotel. The trail started away from the hotel and followed the busy street. But it was a short drive to go to a beautiful beach that was perfect for a long walk. The service all around was lovely. Everyone was friendly and happy to help us. It was a good stay but not great.

Outdated and disappointing. Not unclean, but clearly old/outdated. Room had a kind of musty smell. Stood in line for quite a while to check-in. Parking garage system worked weird / not as the instructions claimed. Finally figured it out and was able to exit; fortunately no one was behind me. Probably time to tear this place down and build something more modern with a better flow. Weird layout.

The property is in a great location and the views are amazing. The property itself is outdated and pretty worn, could use a bit of updating. Overall, the room was clean and the location was great. But we had a not so great experience with a guest that was staying above us. The hotel refunded one night of the resort fee. Overall it was okay but probably won’t stay here again.

Hotel was overrun with a sold-out group, leaving no time or attention for those not in the group. Staff were distracted and burnt out. They were rude. And, it was a mess. Room doors open, laundry and other items piled in the hallways. They should have paid us to stay there. So many better options nearby. Won't stay there again.

We booked 2 queen bed so can accommodate 4 people, they give us 1 king bedroom and give us an roller bed, that will accommodate 3 and they refuse to get us 2nd roller bed or even a mattress, so my daughter sleeps on the floor with few blankets, that was not acceptable or even professional.

I was scheduled March 19-23, I understand it was in the middle of spring break but I have traveled here during this time and I have never had issues. First, children were screaming up and down to hallways beginning at 11;00pm until about 11:30pm. Secondlly, adults were arguing and screaming at each other deep into height bot ends of my hallways. I tried to reach the front desk but I was kept on hold for more that 20 until I gave up waiting. Lastly, men were being being spoken to in order to break them off the pool during a scuffle it all took place near my eindir while I sss run to enjoy dir free runs.

I booked for a job interview in that area. The light by the door was not working. It made it quite difficult to look at myself in the full body mirror next to the broken light, given the only reason I booked was to have a place to stay and get ready for my job interview. Two women whose names I didn’t get that worked at the front desk were far from warm and welcoming. Won’t be retuning.

I love the downstairs bar & restaurant overlooking s beautiful view of the beach! Customer service was not the best. Had booked a room overlooking the costal view with a balcony on the 3rd floor and they told me when i got there they ran out of rooms on the 3rd floor so they moved me to a room on the 2nd floor with no balcony. Which they didn’t try to accommodate me at all. It was kinda frustrating bc you pay alot to stay somewhere and you want to get exactly what you pay for.

The rooms were clean but very outdated and felt far from upscale. Felt more like a basic hotel than a high end resort. While the views are undeniably beautiful and the golf course is excellent if that’s your focus, the accommodations themselves don’t match the setting. Definitely needs updating and more comfortable beds. The biggest issue was safety: one night someone tried to enter our room while we were asleep, which was extremely unsettling and left us feeling uneasy for the remainder of the stay. The breakfast buffet was decent with good variety, but at $36 per person plus tax and tip it felt a little overpriced. Joanne, our waitress at Torreyana, was the one bright spot. The friendly and attentive service from her made the experience better. Overall, this property has a great location and scenery, but the outdated rooms, high prices, and security concern made it fall short of expectations. I wouldn’t consider it a luxury stay and would likely look elsewhere next time.

We stayed 5 days here around Christmas for an off site event. The coffee shop and gift shop had varying hours because of staff sickness. If you’re not a golfer, or even if you are-we heard you can’t get tee times unless you book months in advance. The staff was very nice and helpful. But this hotel is not within walking range of anything and there is no beach access, regardless of what the photos show. You will have to drive to get to La Jolla Cove or anywhere else. The restaurant had large portions, but limited options and was very expensive. For a $38/night “resort fee” I would have thought more would have been included than a “complimentary” Aquafina and “free wine/beer” tickets. Also the free wine tasted like dissolved cork- absolutely awful so .. that was a waste. Parking also not included and no washer/dryer available.

Something happened with the phones and I wasn't able to connect with Hilton personnel for specific needs. The bell man named Rich was a Godsend on my departure. I liked my room and all its surroundings. I've stayed here several times and will be back

My email correspondence with the property has been unsatisfactory. Despite my repeated requests for an invoice for my stay, none has been provided over a waiting time period of more than a week. My follow up emails have stayed unanswered. When Booking.com’s customer service attempted to assist, I was informed that the property could not accommodate my request. Kindly be advised that obtaining an official invoice may be challenging when reservations are made through third-party booking platforms such as Booking.com. Additionally, the room I was provided had water leaking beneath the carpet.

I have stayed at this hotel in the past with good experiences, but it is now in a state of shocking decline on all levels. The television in the room, flat out doesn’t work and when I called the front desk, they never sent somebody to repair it - the staff appears to be poorly trained, and just phoning it in, the entire hotel appears to be in a state of neglect, including peeling paint everywhere, worn out carpet, strange smells - as a long time loyal Hilton Honors member, this was a shocking experience and I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel. Horrible waste of money.

Our 6 day stay was a mix of positives & frustrations. The room was spacious including a large bathroom & beautiful balcony overlooking the golf course. The view was gorgeous & one of the highlights of our stay. The room décor was very dated with dark brown carpets & mismatched furniture. While the bathroom was clean, it showed its age & there was only one grab bar in the shower which could be a safety issue. We were told a 2026 hotel upgrade is planned. The lighting throughout the rooms was very dim. We encountered repeated issues with our room keys & parking garage gate access. Key cards had to be reprogrammed multiple times, at least 6 occasions for the garage gate alone & we had to make several trips to the front desk to get things corrected. The garage parking fees are extremely high & it would be nice to provide hotel guests a discounted rate. The front desk staff gave us conflicting information at times & nearly charged us for an additional night. These communication issues cannot be corrected with an upgrade but better education of front desk staff. Housekeeping was inconsistent with cleaning our room & my sister was startled and woken up at 6:21 AM when they entered her room. On the positive side, the food servers were excellent & the food itself was very good. The hotel did provide nice touches like complimentary water bottles & drink vouchers for the lounge, which were appreciated. I did not feel this property lived up to the Hilton Hotel standards.

Our stay was a mix of positives & frustrations. The room & bathroom were spacious, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the golf course. The view was gorgeous & one of the highlights of our stay. The location was close to everything we needed. However, the room décor was very dated, with dark brown rugs, tan walls, & mismatched furniture that lacked any cohesive design. While the bathroom was clean, it too showed its age. The lighting throughout was very dim, which made it feel darker & more closed-in than it was. We encountered repeated issues with our room keys & parking garage gate access requiring reprogramming at least 5 times causing us to make several trips to the front desk to get things corrected. The front desk staff gave us conflicting information at times & nearly charged us for an additional night for a reservation that we believed had been cancelled. Housekeeping entered the room at 6:21 AM without being requested which was quite disruptive & inappropriate that early in the morning. On the positive side, the food servers were excellent, friendly, efficient & the food itself was very good. The hotel did provide complimentary water bottles & drink vouchers for the lounge, which were appreciated. Overall, while the location & golf course view were outstanding & the dining experience was pleasant, the outdated room design, poor lighting & numerous key issues made the stay less relaxing than we had hoped & far below the standards of a Hilton property.

The room was nice and clean, and overall it was a great value stay. However, the property is starting to show its age — a facelift would be nice. We also went to check in after 4 p.m. but had to wait another 30 minutes for our room to be ready. Other than that, everything was great.

It was clean, nice lobby, and good location. Our room however was shabby. Cigarette holes in the curtains, holes in the lampshade, ratty furniture, and threadbare towels. After contacting the desk, we did get better towels the next day.

The hotel is an extremely poor condition, I cannot believe we got four stars. It should be no more than three stars. The only good things about the hotel is its location and service members, especially Shaq. we will not be coming back to this hotel. Do not recommend.

Rooms were very dated— lots of old, dark brown furniture that was scuffed or chipped. The first floor rooms were dark and cave-like. Beds, however, were very comfortable with nice pillows and linens. When we checked in, we were mistakenly issued the wrong keys. The room was a very long hike to the front desk, and we were a bit disappointed that we had to go back to the front desk for new keys.

The condition of the bed was very poor for a hilton standard, extremely old and noise, $40 dollars for over night stay is a ripoff, especially when the night is already $500.00 and the property is in a industrial zone.

I can’t stay anywhere else besides Hilton Torrey Pines when in the San Diego area. From the upkeep of this place, the amazing views, the friendly staff and the delicious restaurant you can’t find nothing else like it in town.
- 5/5
We’ve been coming here for so long and still love it, kids love the pool area. It is definitely run down and in need of a remodel but the price is worth it! Will be coming back. The staff on the texting feature is amazing, quick and easy to work with and they bring you whatever you need.
- 1/5
The bell desk man and initially valet were extremely unfriendly. Turn we checked in with a lady who def didn’t like her job. Luckily a very nice maid turned it all around. And a new valet guy was nice

It was a great place to stay for a golf outing. Staff was great. The grounds are beautiful.

NOT SO GOOD WE CAME TO CHECK IN AT 4PM LIKE THEY SAID ARE ROOM WITH A POOL VIEW WAS NOT READY. THEY TOLD US 15 -20 MINUTES IT WASNT READY AFTER 1 HOUR MY KIDS LAYING ON THE FLOOR IN THE LOBBY BECAUSE THEY WERE TIRED FROM THERE SOCCER GAMES AND STILL COULDNT SHOWER AND REST BECAUSE WE DIDNT HAVE A ROOM. THEN I WENT BACK AND SAID WE ARE PAYING 580 A NIGHT WITH NO ROOM TO CHECK IN AND THEN THEY GAVE US ANOTHER ROOM WITH NO POOL VIEW JUST SO WE CAN GET SOME REST THEY GAVE US A VOUCHER FOR BREAKFAST. TO MAKE UP BUT I FEEL THE SERVICE WE GOT AND THE AMOUNT WE WERE PAYING A NIGHT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING. THE MANAGER DIDNT EVEN COME OUT TO SPEAK TO US AGAIN VERY DISAPPOINTED AND I WONT STAY THERE AGAIN

Love the underground parking with direct access to the Hilton hotel! Room is spacious & clean. The on-site restaurant, Torreyana, was a pleasant surprise with topnotch Cioppino, delicious heirloom tomato salad, perfectly roasted salmon, crisp potato bravas, and a divine custard for dessert. Couldn't believe how delicious everything was from a hotel kitchen! The pool was well appointed with plenty of floaties/noodles and other toys. The jacuzzi has a lovely view of the golf grounds with ocean views on a clear day. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay ... we will return!

This property is one of our favorite as it is overlooking a Golf Course and the ocean. It has excellent breakfast buffet and creative dinner options. It is a very special place while still affordable and tucked in the perfect location. The staff is very attentive and always making sure you are taken care of.

There were numerous hidden fees that were never clearly disclosed. Despite my Expedia receipt stating that the resort fee was already paid, the front desk presented a piece of paper with fine print claiming the “resort fee must be paid at the hotel.” It felt intentionally deceptive. To make matters worse, on the first night of our stay, there was a fire (or possibly just a drill) around 7 or 8 PM. We were told to evacuate, but no one followed up to explain what was happening, how long it would last, or even if it was safe to return. We received no communication from hotel management at all. I had to go to the front desk myself to request a discount on the resort fee and parking due to the disruption and lack of sleep that night—but they still refused to refund the night's stay. This was by far the most disappointing and frustrating “resort” experience we've had. The only positives were that the hotel was clean, seemed safe, and had a decent view—but that’s not nearly enough to make up for the rest.
- 5/5
Always a great experience. Rich and the rest of the staff are beyond friendly and accommodating. Loved our stay.
- 5/5
Very well kept hotel. Staff extremely kind and very accommodating. Will definitely be back!
- 4/5
Property was great and the view of Torrey Pines was fabulous! The bathroom was a little dated with an old mirror. The only thing we didn’t like was the overpriced, badly cooked breakfast buffet.
- 4/5
Great location. Rooms are a little dated and could use a update.
- 5/5
Service was amazing. Every employee was extremely helpful. It made the stay special.

Expensive for parking and resort fee but the food options are limited but buffet breakfast is bomb!

Very easy check in. All property fees were told up front. No surprises. All amenities were great. Excellent location for anyone doing all the San Diego attractions.
- 5/5
Everything was nice, beautiful grounds, friendly staff. I just wish they were more transparent up front about parking and respect fees.
- 4/5
It was a nice weekend
- 4/5
We had issues with our door keys and security had to come and deal with it. It was just an inconvenience but otherwise we were happy.
- 3/5
I felt very rushed out of my room in the morning. I only stayed for one night and the maids were knocking on my door from 8:30am until 10:30am when my check out was at 11am. Parking was also ridiculously expensive $47/night and I had already paid a lot for just one night. They also make you use two vouchers for drinks that they charge you for later. For being a nice hotel I thought accommodations such as parking would be included and I felt rushed out.
- 4/5
The ocean view is really good enough. And golf club is cool.
- 5/5
Beautiful places and comfortable rooms. There is very beautiful hike terry pine right next to the hotel that made the vacation even better.

Unsafe and unclean amenities: The jacuzzi water was murky to the point where I could not see my feet. The pool also appeared outdated and poorly maintained. Excessive parking fee: Despite the hotel and structure being nearly empty, I was charged $57 for parking—an unreasonable surprise. Non-functional toilet: Our room’s toilet was broken and constantly running. We tried multiple times to call for assistance using the hotel phone, but received no answer. Only after calling from my personal cellphone were we connected to someone at the front desk. Room safety hazards: The ceiling in our room showed signs of water damage, and one of the electrical outlets was completely dislodged—posing a serious safety risk, especially as we were traveling with a baby.

One of the best hotels I stayed in
- 4/5
Another beautiful day in paradise
- 5/5
Good experience
- 3/5
this is one tired property that continues to charge rates that are far from worth it. i've been coming to this property for over 20 years (last visit about 4 years ago) and nothing has changed...from the cracks in the concrete pavement at the portico to crummy shower valves that are simply worn out. I pick here for convenience when i come to UCSD La Jolla for medical issues.

- 5/5
Fantastic property in incredible location
- 4/5
Everything was very nice. However, there were so many extra fees that the room rate was almost doubled!! Resort fees were an extra $11.00 more than what was quoted in my reservation. Self parking was almost $50.00 per night!
- 2/5
Didn't like the extra charges for using the swimming pool
- 3/5
Property needs to be updated-carpet & furniture appeared old and worn. Daily parking fee is very high as well as the daily resort fee. Staff was very accomodating. The only reason to stay at this hotel is it is close to the Torrey Pines golf course.
- 3/5
the food was good and the people at front door were loads of fun.
- 3/5
Excellent location for golf and hiking in Torrey Pines State Park. It is about a 5 iron from the 1st tee on the Torrey Pines South golf course. Easy walk to check in and buy merchandise.
- 4/5
Wish there was more places for food and cocktails closer to hotel
- 2/5
Housekeeping entered our room twice while we were there! Rude! Front desk was rude when i brought up a necklace that we found on the floor of our room…. Not a thank you? Or an apology for clearly not cleaning room well prior to us arriving. The restaurant? Holy moly- we paid for a high class meal, to be told there was only one server- (she was very nice).. but it took over an hour to get our meal?!!! Again, should have received at least an apology or I don’t know a complementary drink (seeing as how we left 10 unused drink cards)… Just would never recommend this place to anyone after this experience.
- 4/5
Interior could use a remodel & lots of business convention traffic
- 3/5
The location was nice and the grounds nice but the particular room we stayed in seemed run down and outdated. The entire lower level of the wing we stayed in seemed old and very worn. Like this part of the hotel had been forgotten in any upgrades since the 1980s
- 5/5
Booked this trip for my boyfriend for his boys golf trip! They absolutely loved it and thought the resort was amazing! Extra loved the pool and property being right on the course!
- 3/5
i paid extra for a room with golf course view. i could barely see the course. it actually was a pool view. This is not right.
- 5/5
Loved our stay while touring UCSD. Parking was a breeze. Comfy bed and great shower. Staff was friendly and helpful. We got our breakfast from the coffee shop in the lobby everyday. So convenient and quick. Great hotel!

- 5/5
Beautiful place
- 3/5
Everything was great. The property is gorgeous and the location is excellent. My one issue is that there is a $36 resort fee (not sure if it is per night or not because we only stayed one night) and they charge you $47 for parking per night. I know this is standard these days but that is just ridiculous. I mean our room was around $150 per night and to park your car is $47. That is no bueno.
- 2/5
The only thing I liked was the tennis courts and equipment available for use.
- 2/5
Overall extremely overpriced for an outdated and rundown hotel. Had to move rooms every night- 1st room smelled of sewage, 2nd the fridge stopped working and was a downgrade from the 1st and the lampshades were missing/rundown furniture, 3rd was still crap. Loud and obnoxious guests yelling at midnight for half an hr at the pool. Tons of fees.
- 5/5
All the staff were frendly and helpful The food st thev restaurant was wonderful as all ways
- 2/5
Watch out for their hidden fees. Over $100 a day of just resort and some other miscellaneous fees per day.
- 5/5
Nice property but need some renovation.
- 5/5
Beautiful location
- 3/5
The hotel looks and feels dated. I love the location and the access to walking and hiking trails but this most recent stay has me thinking I need to look for an alternative.

We are return guests. The property is a little pricey and hotel is due for a refresh, but it was clean; service was exceptional, and location was great. We will definitely return. Can’t wait to see the remodel
