Reviews
The hotel is praised for its central location in La Jolla, close to the beach, shops, and restaurants. The staff is frequently commended for being friendly and helpful. However, many guests complain about the small room size and noise from the street or nearby establishments.

Beautiful view from hotel, clean rooms, but not very spacious, our room was next to the hotel restaurant restroom and guest would make line in front of our room door. I only inquired about an early check in weeks before my arrival through their chat service and was automatically charged 50.00 for early check in without my authorization. I had to request a refund upon my departure and they indicated it was an error.
- 5/5
We had drinks at bar which was very busy but we found a spot at bar. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable including valet car and having it ready prior to my departure. Highly recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay ! Super clean and convenient.

Great location
- 2/5
Situated in a very noisy area. Lots of traffic noise. In addition, we were in a room right below a rooftop bar that was open late. After it closed, they move furniture to clean floors and drag chairs across floors right above you. Horribly noisy and impossible to sleep. Would never go back.
- 4/5
The room was small, with an awkward angled entrance at the bathroom door. The view from our room was perfect. I did find the bed to be a little bit uncomfortable. We also found it hard to regulate the temperature. With the air conditioner off, it was quite warm in the room. But with the oscillating air air-conditioning unit on, it was immediately ice cold and freezing. We were also on the third floor with the restaurant right above us. The chairs from the restaurant scraping on the floor above creating very loud noises right after closing. We assumed it was from the restaurant staff cleaning up after closing. Overall, though, I would stay there again. The location and service were both great.

Charming room with a beach view balcony. The staff were amazing.
- 5/5
The hotel was incredible and the staff was amazing and helpful.
- 5/5
Fantastic stay! The hotel is in a perfect, central location but still feels incredibly cute and cozy. A huge highlight was the excellent rooftop restaurant—amazing food and views. Every staff member we encountered was warm, helpful, and welcoming. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
We absolutely loved our stay! The location is incredible, the staff were so helpful and very welcoming and overall we had everything we needed. The rooms are smaller but didn’t bother us at all as our view was beautiful! We also loved the rooftop restaurant which had awesome food! Love the valet that comes with the hotel as they would bring your car when you needed and park it when you didn’t. Just overall enjoyed our stay and will absolutely stay there again!
- 5/5
i had the best time!! i had just gotten married and they put a free bottle of champagne for us and everyone was so kind and helpful. the beach is only a 2 minute walk which was also super fun. definitely will be back here next time i stay in La Jolla.
- 5/5
The location is perfect. Walking distance to everything.
- 2/5
The noise — both street and interior — was a significant and persistent issue throughout my stay. It was loud enough that the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs in the room, which tells you everything you need to know. For anyone who values rest and quiet, this is not the place. Service was consistently transactional at best. The warmth that other reviewers mention was not my experience. At Birdseye rooftop I waited approximately seven minutes without being acknowledged, and general interactions with staff throughout my stay felt perfunctory rather than welcoming. The concept is charming and the location is prime La Jolla. But future guests should go in with carefully managed expectations — particularly around noise and the accuracy of what’s advertised.
- 4/5
The views are nice but there is no noise reduction requirements for cars or motorbikes in the town so it can get REALLY noisy.
- 4/5
Decent sized room. Small lobby. Valet was decent but allow 10-15 minutes which they will advise you. Fun location. Seal rock is just down the hill where you will see the seals hanging out sleeping in the sun 😀
- 5/5
Extremely convenient location, valet your car all weekend and enjoy the area. Restaurant upstairs has a beautiful view and is a cute date spot. Super comfortable beds and great shower.

Great location made up for the small rooms. Balcony with ocean view a great plus!

In town for the La Jolla marathon (10k). The location is not only perfect for the race, but all around. Easy to walk to the beach, shopping and restaurants. The valley was prompt and had the bonus of multiple uses for no added charge. Its a bit close to the street-not ideal for light sleepers. Not a luxury property. If you want a nice clean hotel, well run, and location is important, you cant go wrong. I hope to stay here next year
- 3/5
The hotel was nice, but unfortunately we were given a room on the 4th floor and man it's loud up there. They shouldn't even give rooms up there. The bar noise is out of control and constant people walking by to go to the restaurant. They offered ear plugs which was nice but my husband had to run the half marathon the next day and didn't sleep well. If you get assigned on the 4th floor, ask for a different room.
- 5/5
Super cute and quaint. Great location for walking to multiple restaurants, hikes, the cave and cove. Parking is valet, but worth it- very prompt. Small store located on first floor which is great for snacks, water, etc.
- 3/5
Although the location and staff were great, the particular room we were given (305) was very noisy late into the night due to the rooftop bar. Even the final cleanup by the staff, had people dropping items and essentially yelling good bye to each other right outside our window at close to midnight. We needed to be up early the next day, so this was very inconvenient.
- 5/5
we loved our room and ocean view.
- 3/5
The staff was nice but the hotel was not as advertised. The photos make the place look really nice but the inside was just okay. The bottom of the bathroom walls were falling apart, the wall paper was peeling off the walls, and the floors looked dirty in the bathroom. They did not have central air and only had this ductless air system that made a fairly loud buzzing sound. The bed was comfortable. The walls must be very thin because the next door neighbor called the front desk to complain about too much noise coming from our room when we were watching TV at a fairly low level. Last but not least there are a few rooms that are accessible from outside the building. I like to be inside the building at a hotel and was not aware I would be put in a room outside which I did not like for safety reasons. If you are just looking for a hotel with a good location this is a great option but the room itself left a lot to be desired.
- 4/5
The view was exactly what was shown in the advertisement. Great location and the staff was very attentive.
- 5/5
Visiting La Jolla for a wedding held 4 minute walk away at the La Jolla Cove rooftop. Valet and staff very friendly and helpful. Nightly cost was half of others. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
The room was comfortable, clean and relaxing. The hotel is perfectly located near restaurants, shopping, beach, and activities. The staff are helpful and friendly. We hope to return again very soon!
- 3/5
The ac didn’t work at all and having to pay for valet was annoying probably wouldn’t stay here again

Great room & location
- 5/5
We loved our stay!! The location can't be beat. Great quality for value. The beds are really comfortable and I'm incredibly picky. Lovely room with a view and it's awesome having the Birdseye restaurant/bar upstairs to grab a quick drink and bite which was a highlight of our time in La Jolla.
- 3/5
Very central, good location. Friendly staff. Elevator access only after 11 am. No breakfast restaurant. Lobby coffee tea very spotty availability. Wine bottles available at shop, huge markups.

Perfect location. Staff was wonderful! Had a perfect stay. Only thing missing is outdoor spot to hang out.

Very good location, walking distance of the coves. So much shopping nearby. Also near a very safe part of town. Rooms cozy so would recommend one person to a room with one bed. Staff super friendly and helpful. Would come back.
- 5/5
The beach view from my room was so beautiful, was very surprised that it was exactly as pictured. The restaurant and bar upstairs also has incredible views and is a must visit. The staff were all very friendly, I spoke with Megan at the front desk and she was very helpful and accommodating at check in and at check out. Cant wait to come back
- 3/5
We booked this room for a couples weekend. Room & bathroom were spacious & clean. However, our room was next to the bar and it was very loud. And, we found the bath towels to be very small - which isn’t a huge deal but a bummer still. We needed the front desk a couple times and had a hard time catching anyone to help us. Honestly we probably won’t go back. For a couples trip we felt it didn’t quite meet our expectations.
- 5/5
This hotel was beautiful. I enjoyed my stay very much. The rooftop bar was delightful. I enjoyed it a couple of times. The staff was absolutely fabulous so kind so caring very much gave me special attention throughout my entire stay thank you to all!
- 4/5
Location, location is great!! A few blocks from seal cove and great view of the ocean from our balcony. Basically within walking distance to everything in LaJolla. We used Valet parking which worked perfectly for us. The Birds Eye View rooftop bar was a nice spot to enjoy delicious cocktails or to grab a bite to eat. There was a glitch with the air conditioning on the 2nd floor for several nights. However, management made it right once made aware of the issue. Had no issue with noise from the rooftop bar as mentioned in previous comments. Enjoyed the espresso machine in the room and coffee on the 2nd floor hallway daily. Beds were comfortable and room cleaned daily. There is a little convenience store attached to the hotel which is open 24/7. Nice to pick-up drinks or snacks as needed. Staff were very professional, helpful and pleasant. I would recommend for those who enjoy smaller, quaint more personal hotels. Please note: there is no elevator. Staff offered their help and assistance as needed. Would stay again when we return to LaJolla.

We stayed at room 101 got 4 days but I had to leave second day because they gave us room that was incredibly noisy bring Unser the market and was not able to sleep for 2 nights and had to Check out and get another hotel so we could sleep. It was brought up twice and no one really cared. I don’t recommend the hotel at all
- 2/5
No air conditioning was misled by this. Staff were unfriendly and did not seem to care about helping us.

Ac didn’t work, the offer to comp our parking only was insufficient for the cost of the stay and to not be comfortable while there. Would like hotels.com to assist in comping part of our stay. Please reach out to me.

incredible location right in La Jolla cove! walking distance to most areas for sight seeing, restaurants, etc. the staff was very nice. the rooms were small & the noise was a bit annoying at times.

Location: amazing. Staff: very friendly. Comfort: not good. Room was not cleaned by 5pm which seemed very unprofessional considering we left the room at 7am. Pillows were not pillows, they felt like ripped up pieces of cotton put in a bag. Very uncomfortable sleep. Amenities; The rooftop restaurant drinks were superb, special mention to Sahar the bartender. Food was great when it arrived hot, which it didn’t most of the time. This place has great potential…they just need to work out the kinks.

- 5/5
The staff was welcoming and helpful on arrival and throughout. The room was lovely, and the small balcony, which included a view of the ocean, was a perfect spot for morning coffee. Perfect location from which to enjoy a La Jolla stay.
- 4/5
The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The location is perfect. Only complaint is that we were in the room under the rooftop bar and you can VERY clearly hear them moving chairs and furniture around and speaking when they close at night.
- 3/5
Nice place but housekeeping didn’t come at all and it says they would visit daily.
- 5/5

Excellent location. Clean. All of the lights are on a motion detector so they would keep turning off while we were in the room chatting or watching TV. You have to wave your arms every minute to keep the lights on.

I’m a fairly light sleeper, so this may not bother everyone. The hotel does provide earplugs, which is a thoughtful touch, but they didn’t do much to block the sound of furniture being moved. If you’re sensitive to noise, you may want to request a room away from the rooftop bar.

The room was spacious, very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The sheets, chairs, bathroom, and shower all felt well maintained. I had a Balcony King room with a beautiful ocean view. Even though it faced a main street, the noise level was minimal once the sliding door was closed. The only disappointing part of the experience was check in. There was no one at the front desk for several minutes when I arrived, which made the arrival feel confusing and not particularly welcoming. Overall, I would give it a 3 out of 5. The room and location were strong positives, but the check in experience impacted the overall stay.

The check in process was super easy and convenient but i waited an hour and 45 mins until i could go to my room because Megan had to move valet cars, move a golf cart the owner wanted moved 1 foot, inspect/ spot check several rooms, check in other guests, handle phones.. etc

The staff seemed overwhelmed. When we arrived, no one was present at the valet stand, so we had no idea what to do with all our luggage. The front desk staff didn’t seem concerned, and when I asked how the valet worked, the woman there simply said I could leave the car key. They also advised reaching out 15 minutes before departure and provided a text message number for any questions. So I requested the car through text message, but there were no replies. No one answered the in-room phone, and even after calling from my cell phone for 20 minutes, no one picked up. I ultimately had to go to the front desk myself. After trying for over 30 minutes, I finally received my car. Heaven and Megan were wonderful, but the other staff member I encountered was very unfriendly. I booked a Grand Room, Sea View (King) because it was supposed to be more spacious than the balcony sea-view option. However, the room was on the 1st floor, and the street noise was extremely disruptive—especially the garbage truck, which was out front for nearly two hours on both Saturday and Sunday starting at 6 a.m. I truly hope they improve the overall service, as the property itself is so lovely.

Downsides (pretty minor): Echo other comments about noise and recommend getting room away from the restaurant (although there will still be street noise). Also, the hotel is small and thus short staffed. Check-in took a long time, and some days our rooms simply weren't cleaned (despite a promise of daily service). Requests for things like a new pillow simply went unfulfilled, despite several attempts. Overall good experience. Would recommend.

I don't normally give out "Excellent" ratings, but Cormorant Boutique Hotel is well deserved. Let's start with the staff- welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The room was perfect - spacious and clean, with a nice little balcony to take in the ocean view. Finally, the rooftop restaurant/bar was a welcome after a long day at the track. Good food and service.

Great location for downtown La Jolla. Bathroom and room very modern and included a desk. Coffee and refrig in the room, microwave available near lobby. Lighting was good. Could be noisy in the summer and weekends as the first floor rooms are right on the street. Even upper floors might be since all rooms face the street. The AC unit was very noisy. Parking is expensive, but they bring the car whenever you want it. No idea where they parked the car! Means you are tipping frequently

We stayed at room 101 and could hear people walking all night long on top of us. First impression of the room is that it is “stuffy”…with a spray to hide the humidity. Only positive is the prime location in La Jolla.

Parking is nonexistent in the area, but valet was reasonable. It’s a nice hotel, but it was pretty noisy at times. The staff and the property were super nice.

Wonderful hotel. Close to shopping, restaurants, and the ocean. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Most of all, the staff was outstanding. Courteous, helpful, and informative. I will stay here again when visiting La Jolla.

Our first room was poorly designed and difficult to navigate. The AC blew hot air, and the fridge didn’t work. We were moved to a second room located directly across from the reception area, which made it quite noisy. The AC initially worked but soon began blowing hot, humid air. The towels were old, rough, and very small, and the duvet had visible blood stains. The only saving grace was some of the front desk staff, who were kind and genuinely tried to help.

Our only gripe was the fact that housecleaning didn’t refill shampoo, shower gels and tissue in the bathroom. We had to ask for refill. Also, we had to ask front desk for extra towels despite requesting housecleaning to leave extra towels when they were cleaning the room.

The hotel is really nice overall with amazing views of the ocean, and the rooftop restaurant food was good, offering the same amazing views. Room needed a complete remodel and to be deodorized. The musty smell was awful.

Great location in La Jolla near the ocean and restaurants.
- 5/5
Great experience. Friendly staff. Very clean
- 3/5
Restaurant that is connected was right above our room. Extremely loud as chairs and tables get moved around well into the night. Easily correctible with outdoor carpet. We went to the connected restaurant, waited forever and never got served. Went somewhere else.

Everything was very nice. Can't beat the location. The only issue we had was the A/C made a rattling noise at times, which was quite loud.

Room was beautiful. Easy to walk to beach. Some random charge to credit card when we checked out. Disputed and it was removed, but an unnecessary hassle.
- 3/5
cons- outdated..not easy to get to,to get checked in..Expensive! AC wasn't user friendly..elevator to rooms and rooftop wasn't operable 2 of our 3 days..my room didn't have an elongated toilet bowl.. we enjoyed but will go elsewhere next visit to LA Jolla..
- 5/5
Location could not be better: within walking distance to multiple restaurants, cafe's, gelato etc. One of the best restaurants is the hotel's own Birdseye. Fantastic views, excellent food and drinks. Walk to the water, the coves, sea lions, shopping. Staff was superb. Only "negative" is there is traffic noise in the room but after the first night we paid no attention to it.
- 1/5
If you are unfortunate enough to get a room under the rooftop restaurant, you will not get any sleep whatsoever. It was so incredibly loud, even with a sound machine and earplugs. We could not fall asleep until the restaurant had closed and cleaned up for the day and woke up to the restaurant opening up.
- 1/5
We booked a queen room, we were given a room with a double bed. The room had no window except for onto a stairway to the deck. It was so loud until 11pm with drinking and lots of loud music and noise. The room looked like a utility closet with no space to even open a suitcase. No hanging space only a couple of drawers. They refused to refund our money and we still moved next door. Room 305 should never be rented.

- 4/5
Our overall stay was fine and we would return. However, opportunities for improvement include: 1) Rooms should be cleaned daily w/o having to request it, 2) Put luggage stands in rooms, 3) TV's are too complicated and Fox News was missing, 4) Wash your windows periodically and 5) Switch from Espresso to regular coffee maker in rooms
- 3/5
We were put in a room next door to the rooftop bar. It was EXTREMELY loud at night . The staff woke us up with all the banging as we were next to the staff room and storage room. It was probably the worst location in the entire hotel. I'm sure we were put there because we went through Expedia. Although we were offered another room, it was tiny in comparison and we had already unpacked so we toughed it out. The cost did not reflect that and I think we should have had a discount for the inconvenience and price we paid! Staf was nice . The stairs are very public as is the bathroom right outside our room! Would not stay again.
- 3.5/5
Great location. Too much street noise. Overpriced.
- 5/5
Great price for downtown La Jolla.
- 5/5
Location was perfect, central to everything. The balcony overlooking the street was so nice while drinking my morning coffee or some wine in the evening. The bedding was so soft, bathrobes were a pleasant surprise. The front desk was kind and knowledgeable.
- 1/5
Our room wasn't ready at check in time so we had to walk around for 2 hours, then the room didn't have a balcony as paid for and the TV was broken. The room was next door to a bar and it was loud.
- 3/5
It was pretty difficult to reach the front desk after I checked in, I had to walk down a few times. It wasn’t the person at the front desks fault, she was very clearly spread too thin.
- 0.5/5
I did not like the property. Room felt like I was in jail. Didn’t even stay the night. Had to go to another hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and a great locations. Staff is very helpful and friendly.
- 3/5
Very disappointed with check in. Room wasn’t ready at 4. We had a wedding to get ready for so they gave us a temporary room to change and then when we came back they gave us our room but still wasn’t what we paid for as it didn’t have a balcony. Very poor window insulation as we could hear people yelling outside in the middle of the night from the 4th floor. Definitely not worth the $400 spent.
- 5/5
Great location, great rooftop bar, great hotel!
- 1/5
Stayed here for a work trip and they placed me in a room right next to the bar ( you could see in my window if you were at the bar) and the staff closet was on the other side of my room. The staff was slamming doors, throwing around cleaning supplies, and screaming / singing until 12 am when I finally called and complained. The bar closed at 10. I wasn’t going to make a deal out of this but when I got into my room, there were used towels on my counter. Overall, worst experience I have had in San Diego. Do not consider if you want decent sleep.
- 4/5
Location can’t be beat! Walking distance to many restaurants and things to do in La Jolla. The cove, sea lions, pelicans and the beautiful beaches. The room was ok. Clean, a bit outdated, nice little balcony. Upstairs restaurant with ocean view is great ( but food only ok. Fries mheh) worst part is front desk is often closed and no one is ever there. People that are there are usually pretty good but it’s a little hit and miss. Some people don’t really understand how to check you in or follow the process. Others are super nice. We waited for a very long time for valet. Service at the hotel was very mediocre. That’s the worst part about this place service is not so great. Service at the restaurant was also not so great. Big attitude. We asked for milk for the coffee and they scowled and told us to go to the market to buy some milk. Can you give me some milk for coffee and he said no! You can go to the market. What? I paid $250 for one night in a hotel and he couldn’t ask somebody to go get me a little bit of milk to put in my coffee in the morning? I think the managers are investors has spent a lot on the properties. They should really spend a little bit more on the people who are staffed at the hotel to get better service.
- 4/5
Great spot near the beach while being clean. Must of been short staffed since check in was pushed out 3 hours
- 5/5
Very clean room I like the contemporary style of it would recommend this hotel to anybody would come back again in the future. Thank you for a great service.
- 4/5
We did not receive maid service on our first day so that was disappointing
- 5/5
Nice and comfortable start to our trip, room was very spacious and staff were excellent which made checking in and out very easy
- 5/5
Every staff member encountered was warm, welcoming and accommodating. Room had a spacious balcony with table with ocean view overlooking Girard & prospect street. Super conveniently located to dining options and beach is literally across the street. Nothing but great things to say about this property. Will definitely repeat a stay!

Perfect for a weekend getaway
- 5/5
Great location!
- 5/5
We absolutely loved our stay at this property! With its incredible view, the roof top bar was a great way to begin and end each day. The boutique hotel is located superbly for those who enjoy walking, noshing, and people watching!
- 5/5
Terrific location to walk everywhere in La Jolla. The rooftop bar had amazing cocktails and food, but was a little loud when we were trying to sleep at night (they closed at 11 pm) The front desk clerk who helped us with check in and parking was very helpful and thoughtful. The view was great and the room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The location and view from the balcony were excellent.
- 4/5
The location of this hotel is phenomenal, a short walk to Scripps park and the sea lions! The hotel has a nice market to buy snacks as well offers tea and voffee in their lobby. Also, the room was very clean and hoisekeeping foes a great job. The bed was very comfy too. If, driving you almost have to valet ($35 p/d) to guarantee parking. We would stay here again for the convenience of location.
- 5/5
Great views, great location, will be back!
- 5/5
Amazing location, stay was helpful & friendly, and the restaurant had amazing drinks and appetizers!
- 2/5
Our room was incredibly loud. The rooftop bar was moving and shuffling chairs literally all hours of the day, from like 7am to 10 pm. Hard to sleep. Getting car, or items out of car was not very convenient. Staff was 50/50 on being helpful and polite or not. Overall, good location, but for the price had much higher expectations. Was pretty disappointed
- 5/5
Great place
- 4/5
Great price for ocean views and valet parking cost was reasonable
- 4/5
The hotel is a cute boutique hotel. Rooms are small, but modern and clean. Staff is nice. Pillows were like not great, very lumpy and hard. But a very cute, modern stay. Nice rooftop bar.
- 5/5
Absolutely perfect!
- 4/5
Good location in the middle of the busy area of La Jolla but also right next to the water. Staff was very nice. It's a small hotel with small rooms but they were clean and the bathroom is modern. My room was directly beneath the rooftop bar so you could loudly hear chairs dragging until it closed at 11pm or so.
- 3/5
Room 402 is right beside a kitchen and super noisy all night. No balcony only a sliding door. Fridge did not work. No parking available. Hotel was clean, staff is very nice!
- 5/5
The hotel was in an excellent location. Many things were within walkable distance. The balcony area overlooking the cove was amazing. The room was a bit small for the price but the bedding and the bed were very comfortable. Had a good air conditioner as well. At night you could hear a lot of street noise and tables and chairs moving overhead in the rooftop bar. But I was so worn out I didn't have any issues falling to sleep. I do wish they offered a few more small amenities but overall an excellent place to stay.
- 5/5
Everything was good specially your employees!!!
- 5/5
Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
- 4/5
Location very busy and crowded. Not much for parking unless you valet. Hotel bathrooms are tiny with small shower and no sink countertop space. Front desk staff were friendly, other service staff not so much. Best thing about hotel is it’s in walking distance to beach, restaurants and shops. Hotel price you pay is based on location and not amenities. Rooftop restaurant is so-so and pricey. $17 for chips and guac.
- 5/5

- 5/5
This place is top rated in the area for a reason! You can literally have the valet park your vehicle and never need it until you leave. The staff were personable, attentive, and took very good care of us. We were so impressed, we booked our return for our Anniversary in September before we left!
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful, the room was clean
- 3/5
I really wanted to like this property, it is an amazing location and the front desk staff are so nice, but it ends there. My “Ocean view“ room had a view of the street and I couldn’t have my blinds open because it was on the first floor and so everyone in the restaurant across the street could see into my room. The room also smelled like a combination of mildew and cigarette smoke and the bad was pretty uncomfortable. If you stay here, definitely stay on a higher floor. Do not stay on the first floor. Those rooms are right on the street and the doors open up to basically the sidewalk so it is really loud at night and the security isn’t great and of course there’s Zero privacy.
- 3/5
The good: The location is terrific; right next to the the grand pink hotel, La Valencia. We had a balcony, which was lovely, as we like outdoor space when we travel and were able to see and hear the ocean. There are wild parrots in the morning flying everywhere. The not so good: No elevator The rooms are small, the bathroom tight, 20” vanity with a big vessel sink may not be the best choice, no place to set anything. Bring earplugs; they provide them, which is good. Just may be your fit, it’s a bit noisy on the street. The carpets are damp, they need to go. The worst is actually the easiest fix get rid of the lumpy pillows, offer down and foam that’s it. They had new pillows and get rid of the carpet. I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
This property was clean, convenient, relaxing and the staff so welcoming!
- 5/5
Amazing stay. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. Perfect location.
- 5/5
Fantastic location near the ocean. Great price considering the area and location. The room was VERY SMALL but nicely appointed. Just right for a short stay and play.
- 5/5
Either way, great hotel and we’ll definitely stay there again next time we’re in La Jolla.
- 2/5
The staff was excellent and allowed me to cancel my second night without penalty

Loved it

So, I booked the trip on Expedia. Was set to pay at the hotel. Had a receipt of the charges that would be due. I get to the hotel and there was some “system change/error” where they couldn’t find my booking. But, no worries, they had a room. Showed them my original reservation. When I pay, I see that they charged me $200 more than my original booking. When I asked them, they said that is is because Expedia doesn’t include the taxes…well on the original receipt I had it showed all the taxes and included fees. The only thing that was different was the nightly rate changed and went up $30/night…They would not honor the original price. It just seemed shady. On top of this, the hotel was just not great. My room was literally right next to the check in counter, and my “ocean view” room was mostly a “street view” room, so I was surrounded by noise. Additionally there were small things that were off about the cleanliness. There were weird dirt stains all over my pillows when I got there, the walls were dirty (like random spots, or like water sweat marks), no bath mat available. It is a great location, so I guess that is what you’re paying for. Wouldn’t stay here again, especially with so many other options in the area.
- 5/5
It was a great spot to stay. Love it!
- 5/5
Location was unbeatable, front desk staff was so nice, housekeeping came every day and bed was comfy. Can’t ask for more than that :)
- 5/5
Wonderful little gem and the staff was exceptional!
- 4/5
There wasn’t an elevator. I would not stay there if you have physical disabilities. They did offer to take my bag to the 3 floor. Elevators are just needed to make guests fell fully independent.
- 5/5
Staff was great and room was nice and clean. Restaurant has really good food.
- 5/5
Amazing staff!
- 4.5/5
Very conveniently located. Accessible to all kinds of amenities in the local area. Love the balcony with seaside views. Walkable town.
- 4/5
Great location. My room was a bit warn-down, mold in the shower, broken wood, water stain on the ceiling, ext. Its also really hard to sleep even with ear plugs. The street and bars are very loud. Room was not cleaned daily as stated.
- 4/5
The air conditioning in our room did not work the entire stay. Because of the holiday weekend the hotel was short-staffed. Otherwise it’s a great place, including the rooftop restaurant.
- 3/5
The staff was quite friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, the overall experience was not what I expected from a boutique hotel. There is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up several flights of stairs. My room had a window facing a staircase that leads to the bar, offering little privacy as people could easily see inside. To reach the room, you have to pass through the kitchen and laundry facilities, which felt unusual and took away from the boutique feel. The room itself was quite noisy, making it hard to get a good night's sleep.
- 5/5
Always a reliable spot to go to :) very clean and luxurious and at a reasonable price especially for the location!
- 5/5
Very close to downtown and the cove, beautiful view of the ocean!
- 5/5
Very nice and good hotel. One block from the beach and very accessible to restaurants and shopping. The staff was amazing
- 3/5
The location was perfect. The hotel lacks in trained staff mainly the front desk.
- 5/5
Great hotel for a weekend in La Jolla. Clean, convenient, within walking distance of everything you’d want or need.
- 4/5
Staff was attentive and kind. Check in and check out were pleasant and welcoming. 24 hour convenience shop on site. Rooftop restaurant and bar on site. Amenities in room were nice, toiletries and earplugs were provided. Bed was comfortable. Only note of improvement was that the lobby water tumbler was broken so it was not possible to refill waters at the hotel.
- 5/5
Great location in downtown La Jolla. Small, simple, clean, comfortable and very friendly service. Would choose this hotel again.
- 4/5
Great location. Kind of a motel / hotel because some rooms are right on the street. Rooms are small but nice.
- 5/5
Great staff! Great location and view
- 3/5
They need more staff to run the front desk/store/valet Was charged extra and had to call after check out to have it fixed
- 4/5
The employees of this hotel could not have been any nicer. They were extremely polite- going above and beyond with any request. I was frustrated though that the hotel only had one staff member on duty at a time. This required them to work the front desk, valet, the convenience store attached, and take care of anything else that needed to be done. They handled it with a smile but they were clearly torn between duties. I hate when business try to squeeze every dime out of paying customers at the expense of the hotel guests and their employees. I realize this was a boutique hotel but that’s not an excuse for under staffing. On another note- our room had water leak around the window. The dripping noise was loud and the carpet wet but the accommodating staff quickly set us up in another room.
- 5/5

Location is great!
- 4.5/5
The location was excellent. Availability of local shops and especially restaurants especially the restaurant at the hotel. Excellent customer service by hotel staff, The room was a little tight but the balcony made up for it.
- 5/5
We walked just a couple of doors down to Duke’s and had dinner on their oceanview deck. Then we came back and headed to the rooftop bar that extends over the hotel—it was the perfect end to the evening. Parking might be a pain, but you can Valet by pulling right up to the front door. There is a parking garage down the street to the right - if you want to self park. We’ll definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
not all the plugs in the room worked
- 3/5
Won't be staying here again.
- 5/5
Very comfortable, great location and amazing view. Nothing
- 3/5
Our stay was not terrible but there are definitely things that could be improved upon. First, be prepared to have a loud stay. The street noise is very loud as is the noise from other guests. If you’re staying on the third floor you will hear the chairs from the restaurant immediately above you between 8:30am and about 9:30/10pm. You’ll also start to hear trash trucks or city buses at about 6:30am. Ear plugs will help greatly but if you struggle with sleep or don’t like much noise, I would reconsider your stay. It would be a nice touch if the hotel provided complimentary ear plugs as this is a comment many people have made. There were a few amenities in our room that we had to fix - no hand soap, broken off body lotion, and the AC wall thermostat fell off the wall a few times and we had to replug it in ourselves so that the AC worked. The room itself was clean so no complaints there. The bed and pillows were comfy and bathroom decent. They do send housekeeping everyday which is very nice as most hotels do this only upon request now. However, there were no privacy signs because they “still needed to be ordered” so you had to tell front desk whether you wanted them to skip your room this morning. However, that didn’t work for us because housekeeping showed up anyway. We probably wouldn’t stay here again due to the price, but it was not a terrible option in comparison to the prices in other areas.

Amazing. N/A
- 5/5
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice boutique hotel with a nice & different vibe than a larger corporate hotel. Love the welcome cocktail, soft comfy robes, and the balcony with a view of the Pacific. And it's in a great location - easy walks to restaurants, shops, and the beach. Took just under twenty minutes to the airport in the early morning.
- 3/5
Location , room view , food . Rooms looked old . Water pipes could be heard at night. Ac flaps made creaky sounds .
- 5/5
Conveniently located property within walking distance of La Jolla cove, excellent restaurants, and a variety of upscale and earthy shopping. Staff was wonderful and The Birdseye restaurant on the 4th floor was wonderful. Had drinks and appetizers there several nights. The view is amazing.
- 5/5
great little hotel with a European feel
- 3/5
Our room was noisy and very small (we stayed in room 307); the bathroom was tiny with not a lot of space to put toiletries, but shower was very comfortable. I believe the room was noisy because the kitchen was close to it. The linens in the bed appear too big resulting in lots of creases which caused our sleep a little bit uncomfortable. Also, there is no elevator but made it OK because the distance to our room was short and didn't have lots of luggage. With this being said, the room was clean and the staff was very helpful. The staff that stands up is Carlos at the reception, Carlos and Roberto at the bar.
