Reviews
The hotel has a great location with easy access to the beach and nearby restaurants, but guests frequently complain about the lack of parking and noisy rooms. The cleanliness of the rooms and the friendliness of the staff are praised, but the breakfast and the value for money are often criticized.
- Great location with easy beach access and nearby restaurants
- Clean rooms and friendly staff
- Limited parking and expensive parking options
- Noisy rooms and poor insulation

I will go to another hotel.

Very nice property. The staff was great, the room was perfect. The only issue is the parking. There are minimal parking spots in the property parking garage so we had to park in the municipal lot. On the weekend the area was very crowded due to the great restaurants and atmosphere and we had to park two blocks from the property when we left for a couple of hours. Also, the price of parking is $100 a week.

We will never go back. Not worth the $$$
- 5/5
Highly recommended. We enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back again soon.
- 4/5
The room was okay, nothing fancy, but for the price I thought it should have been better. One staff member was not pleasant at all. She just was not nice like I am used to to South Carolinians being. I lived in Charleston for several years and this is not what it was like before. This was not my first time staying on the Isle of Palms either. I thought I reserved an ocean view, but the view as only a partial view, that was disappointing as well. The place was clean, just not as nice as I thought it should have been for the price of it.

If you are looking for a decent place to stay with friendly staff, a working fridge, soft sheets, quiet restaurants next door, and adequate parking, I’d choose a different hotel.
- 4/5
Great location, quiet and spacious room. Not much in the way of amenities (access to beach chairs and an umbrella without paying an excessive amount to a third party would have been nice) but it provides what it says it will.
- 3/5
Location is excellent Horrible smell around the entire building and stairwells Unpleasant and dismissive front desk Mediocre breakfast that didn’t even include an egg or a protein
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. Very convenient to everything in walking distance. We had a great time!
- 5/5
I’ve stayed here before. Just a beautiful location.
- 2/5
Amenities were so outdated, the garage smells like a public restroom, the only positive part was close close proximity to the beach. Additionally, you have to pay for a city parking overnight, which is not included in the overrated hotel price ...we are not coming back

Clean room. Great staff

Location was great! Parking was challenging.
- 5/5

Excellent location, on the beach and busy area with lots of restaurant and bar options. Best bed we have experienced, super plush. Easy access to Sullivans Island, historic Charleston and Mt. Pleasant among other key SC areas. Great for young families or a quick get away. Opportunities are not enough staff to maintain the luxurious status it portrays. Daily housekeeping was not provided although I’m sure we could have addressed however we only had a two day stay. It’s just a preference for us and at the price point, it’s an expectation. The ground also lacked continuous upkeep especially with traffic to and from the beach.
- 5/5
Therapist very knowledgeable and wants to ensure needs were met
- 5/5
Right on the water. Good places to eat within walking distance. Pleasant staff! Bring your own beach chairs if you can so you don't have to rent them. Do the same with alcohol so you can reduce that budget as well! Clean, great place to relax!!!
- 4/5
Beach access is perfect! Literally just steps away from the ocean. Nice beach area. *rent beach chairs, 2 chairs-2 days = $43* Excellent options for great seafood ... next door to 2 blocks

Room was clean. Nice location with beach within a few minute walking distance.

Nice stay by the beach, front desk lady were good
- 4/5
Great location on the beach. Close to restaurants and bars, but still managed to be quiet at night. Nice view of the beach from our balcony. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean. Breakfast wasn't great. Fun to use the pancake-o-matic machine but they were rubbery. The bagels and the coffee were good though. Several good breakfast options nearby though like Sea Biscuit and Acme Lowcountry Kitchen.

Great location. The room was very clean, and the front desk staff were very pleasant and very helpful with the questions I asked about the area. Breakfast was ok, can be better.

room was clean, partial beach view,A/C was fine, coffe maker did not work well mentioned to front desk i did but was never changed .breakfast was very little put out in the morning .if you didnt make it early there was nothing left towards last hour .if you asked they said all they had for the day.surrounding area was pretty loud and parking was minimal we had to go on the overload lot which was a walk away.
- 2/5
My room was so dirty the first night that my feet were black from walking from the shower to my bag three steps away. The front desk staff Sunday- Thursday were so incredibly rude. I look “alternative” sort of. I’m tattooed and have vivid color hair. However, I’m in my 40’s I don’t party. All I wanted to do was seacomb for our anniversary/birthday trip. When we asked about parking she couldn’t be bothered to look at us and explain about parking in a city we’ve never been. Listen, I’ve stayed at 5 star hotels. I’ve stayed at 1 star hotels. This hotel is a painted motel with a luxury price tag. Beach is bomb. Maintenance and housekeeping people were so kind and helpful for the record. Breakfast was basically hot water and oatmeal, bread with nothing to make anything taste good and pancake machines. No honey. No brown sugar, toppings. This stuff came from Sam’s not anything
- 3.5/5
I didn't eat the hotel breakfast. Maybe next time. But I like the variety of restaurants in the area. I saw a spider in the corner on the curtains, and the coffee maker didn't work so I unplugged it and it worked in another socket.

Our fantastic enjoyed our stay at this property. The staff were fantastic and the rooms were clean plus the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and anyone else reading this review.

This is a motel. A complete dirty dump.

The location. The rooms were not very clean (even after house cleaning), staff unfriendly, $100 early check in fee, the doors do not lock properly, poor security on the facility, bed and pillows were not comfortable.

The front desk host, Tamia was really nice and allowed us to check in a few min early. The room was big and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable The parking garage under the building was super small and the cost to park there as well as across the street was the same price. The room was really expensive but I didnt mind it because I thought I was getting an ocean view which i did not. The air kept going out in the room and it got extremely hot throughout the night. And unfortunately the walls were paper thin. I heard the guy in the next room to us sneeze. Thats how thin the walls are. I dont think I would stay again for the price I paid but if cleanliness is what you're looking for, this is the place for you

The location was spectacular. The bed was comfy. The staff was helpful and friendly. Parking was fine since it was off season. However, the way the rooms are set up is terrible. All the room doors face each other to a huge concrete commen area. It was so ridiculously loud inside our room, everything echoed, especially the cleaning staff making their rounds to the rooms. Also, we had a room with a adjoining door to another room with a huge gap at the bottom of the door and could hear EVERYthing that was happening next to us. Would not stay here again just for the noise issues.

The room was clean enough, but the ac did not work properly. It wasn’t able to be adjusted from our room. The bed was awful. Way too soft to be comfortable and it sank in the middle. Our room adjoined another that had kids in it and was right across from the elevator. I will not recommend this hotel or stay here again.
- 2/5
This hotel was clean and on the oceanfront. The room was small, the refrigerator had no controls so you couldn't make it colder. The TV only had streaming channels, no local channels so no news for a few days. The hotel wasn't bad but I don't think I would stay there again.
- 3/5
The front desk clerk on day shift was super helpful and friendly. She recommended restaurants and things to do on the island. Night shift clerk wasn't nearly as friendly. There is very little parking at the hotel and it is tight, not good for big vehicles. Most parking is one street over in the overflow lots. The cleaning staff woke us up well before 8 am talking extremely loud in the hallway repeatedly, not just once. At home we get up early and prefer to be able to sleep in on vacay. It's a great location and you can walk to all the restaurants and shops easily. For the price, we probably will rent a condo next time as the hotel is really old and while clean, is a bit run down.
- 2.5/5
It was clean and in a nice location Room was not comfortable, bathroom was cramped, parking was not ideal and I could not get a response from the property regarding an item I left in the room. I tried to call and message the property through the booking app.

We stayed 3 nights. One day our room was not cleaned, so we got some clean towels from the pool towel bin. Front desk staff member on arrival was rude & abrupt. (Don’t even think of checking in before 4:00 pm! You will be told in no uncertain terms to come back at 4:00!!!)
- 4/5
The location of the beach was amazing. The fact that the hotel wasn’t too busy was awesome. We did not like the elevator, it was old. Breakfast was ok, grab and go. Staff didn’t go out of their way to help with much for example when wanting to rent beach chairs instead of helping me, they just handed me a pamphlet and couldn’t be bothered. Location of beach and restaurants and cleanliness of rooms was very good. Hotel could use some newer updates but affordable and can’t beat that beach.
- 5/5
clean room, great location, great staff.

The staff is always amazing! We love this hotel and have stayed here for years when we vacation. We also send our friends and family here. Clean and spacious rooms, perfect beach location, great amenities, excellent breakfast.

Partial view of the ocean BUT right above the neighboring bar and restaurant deck. Thank goodness it was chilly and the bar closed early.

Location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. Where to start… There are more rooms than onsite parking spaces so we had to park across the street and walk our luggage over to the hotel and up the stairs (unless we wanted to wait a lifetime for the elevator to finally arrive). Stairwell smelled like smoke. Our room was described as, “Standard King, partial ocean view.” I guess that was accurate. Very standard (nothing special) room with a partial ocean view if you leaned out from the balcony and looked to the right just so you could see a distant “partial” view of the ocean. Inside was very plain, but did include stains on the wall and an A/C unit that kept waking my wife up all night as it was the loudest unit I’ve ever heard. Smallest bathroom we’ve ever seen is a hotel. You literal could not close the door unless you moved to the left or right past the toilet bowl. Even the USB plugs next to bed didn’t work on my side.

Rooms need some TLC they are worn out. I didn't have anyone come to clean my room. First day I had put the sign do not disturb, the second day I did not. Not sure what happened there. Partial beach view was nice. Never had the breakfast but seemed like bagels and pancakes, cereal and fruit. Coffee/tea was nice to have.

Room was not ready at check in time and wasn’t until 35 minutes after check in time. Room floor was not clean. Very small BR for 4 guest. Front desk clerk was not very nice and had to ask my name at least 5 times! Parking was not convenient.

Rooms were very clean and updated. Staff very helpful. Parking is limited underneath hotel, but they offer free parking across the street. We would definitely stay here again!

Grate place to stay
- 5/5
The air conditioning worked great. The room was very clean. The bed was a bit squishy where you kinda sink in but still relatively comfortable. I wish we hadn’t cheated out and gotten a room on the outside perimeter of the building. Not having a window to the outside was strange.
- 5/5
the room was excellent, the dinning room has few tables and the parking lot space is reduced, in general is a good hotel
- 2/5
Our room wasn’t ready to check in until after 4:00, we got there early. They told us to come back at three and then told us the room still wasn’t ready. I upgraded and paid for a deluxe room, and it was very basic. There was nothing extra about it as indicated in the pictures. The doors were rusty and dirty.

A last-minute change of itinerary brought my daughter and me to the Isle of Palms and to this hotel. The location of the hotel was perfect- right on the beach. It was easy, though somewhat expensive, to get chairs and an umbrella (from a company independent of the hotel), and the beach was clean. The staff was courteous, the room was clean, and it was nice to have breakfast available before setting out for the beach. On the downside, the hotel was more basic than I anticipated and the walls were very thin, so I was kept up late by a conversation in the next room. The area itself is nice, but there was very little to do and a lack of nearby options for something as simple as a snack (thank goodness for the hotel’s vending machines!). Not knowing anything about the area before booking, perhaps this is commonly known, or maybe we missed an area that has “more” going on. With all that said, we did enjoy ourselves. It was also kind of nice that the whole island wasn’t built up with lots of hotels. The walk down the beach was very pretty, so the lots of cool houses to see. Lastly, if you don’t mind a quick drive or a longer walk, Jeff’s Bagel Run has amazing bagels! We also enjoyed coffee from Cafe Paname.

- 5/5
Great location, beachfront access to a beautiful sandy beach. Welcoming staff, clean room, comfy beds. Safe, easy parking nearby.
- 4/5
Nice hotel, clean rooms, attentive and nice housekeeping staff. Breakfast area is a bit gross. The cushion chairs don’t seem to be cleaned daily and people can be slobs.
- 5/5
Clean room and very comfortable.

Excellent location! Right on Isle of Palms! Rooms very clean! Super friendly staff! Showers water was only warm & not hot.
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful! Thank you all very much !
- 3/5
Also, the continental breakfast wasn't stocked very well... Disappointing.
- 4/5
The room was very clean and all staff were very helpful. Housekeeping was extremely helpful and accommodating. The location of our room could not have been better. We had a great view of the ocean from our balcony. The motel was in a perfect central location and close to so many things. The only complaint would be no handicap parking under motel and we had to leave 2 days early due to serve illness and we’re still charged for both days. I understood the first day but did not agree with charge for second day. I would stay there again though in a heartbeat.
- 3/5
If you are looking for a budget room at a hotel right on the beach, with "nightlife" just below it, this hotel may be OK. The rooms were very clean and of a good size, however, the online photos make it look more luxurious than it really is and there is no sound insulation from the open hallways and the nearby bars. The hotel can be difficult to find, as it does not have a main entrance at ground level. A small elevator, or stairs take you from the poorly marked ground level garage to the checkin area and small lounge.
- 5/5
Beach is a short walk with a nice pathway, close to nice public areas for the family. AC worked perfectly. Nice amenities in the room.
- 4.5/5
No problems
- 3/5
The place was very nice, right off the beach, and overall a clean establishment. The only issues I had was the walls felt paper thin. I heard every conversation in the rooms next to me and above me. Another flaw was the way the building was designed which gave the corridor a huge echo which exacerbated the noise problem. Also, there were a group of guys that were roomed right next to us and they kept us awake until about 1:30am and even then there were the occasional bangs, yelling, and music playing. If possible I would recommend rooming couples or people on retreats away from party groups, that was the biggest con.
- 3/5
The room was clean the location was great- right on the beach. The staff was uneven. Some were very helpful and cheerful while others were distant, and indifferent. They forgot to make up our room one day, they de-activated our room keys too early. The microwave in our room didn’t work and they didn’t replace it. The continental breakfast had a pancake machine which was so cool.
- 3/5
I did have a partial obscured ocean view from my balcony, the only problem is I was right next to a restaurant outdoor dining right next to my balcony, maybe 10 ft away. Thus, I never really had the opportunity to relax out there cuz it's always a bunch of people within 5 ft of me. It was not very ideal and it was not described when I booked the room, for I would not have booked it had known that I was right next to outdoor restaurant dining balcony
- 4/5
The room was clean, the cleaning crew did an excellent job and all the interacted with were very nice. The access to the beach was very nice, the parking was very limited on site but the overflow helped not make it a chore. The breakfast was ok, but for a continental style what would one actually expect. I have had much less food options at other places I have stayed. The traffic Friday night and Saturday trying to cross the bridge to get on and off the island was horrible. The food was basically the same no matter where you choose to eat with minor differences from one to another. If you love seafood, then no worries, lots of variables and all were good. The refuge seemed to be the one location we loved the food dishes regardless of breakfast or dinner.
- 4/5
Clean room, air conditioning worked. It had been remodeled but there were corners in the bathroom that were ignored, not a deal breaker, just indicating they lack attention to detail. Breakfast was a joke, and I don’t expect much from continental, but no coffee, barely any fruit or bagels and they weren’t refilling . Employees friendly and courteous. Minimum parking in there garage and very tight parking spaces , but the municipal lot they allow you to park in for free is a just across the street. I would stay there again. Pricey but that’s what you get for being on the water .
- 5/5
Very Respectfully staff
- 4/5
It seemed that the fan on the heater was extremely loud and would make a horrible noise through the night.
- 4/5
I didn't like my room location due to it being noisy and had no windows to outside. The only window faced the walkway where all guests go to their rooms. The window did not have view of outside at all felt closed in.
- 5/5
Beautiful location, would love to stay there again. Staff was great except for this morning.
- 4/5
Did not have an ocean few but motel is just a few yards from the sandy beach. Would stay here again if in the area.
- 4/5
Clean room. Partial view of the oven was nice- especially in the morning. LOVED the balcony!. Great location to beach. Only down size is that the side rooms overlook the bar / restaurant next door. Music starts around 10 am and goes until around 10pm. One night was a live concert. We were ok with this but you’d definitely want to know this before booking - especially if that’s not your vibe. We were on third floor - probably a bigger deal for second and first floor (it would be right outside your window/balcony).
- 3/5
The only real problem we had was the tv channels did not work. We went to the front desk twice and no one ever came to fix our tv.
- 3/5
Housekeeping came to our room at 9 AM. We were still asleep. After that, they did not come to our room at all to make the bed.
- 5/5
So close to the beach I didn’t need a view
- 5/5
The pool is on the street side, but would be a great way to watch the sunset in their multi-colored lit pool, with pool towels available. I’ll stay there again.

We didn’t have an ocean view but still thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My two grown children and I shared a room and had more than enough comfy space. The ladies at the lobby desk were sweet and super helpful too :)
- 5/5

- 3/5
My view was of mechanicals on the roof with a very limited view of the ocean. The floor was sticky room was not very clean.
- 5/5
The room was very clean. I had a partial ocean view and I could see the ocean from the room as described. Parking was a little tight in the garage under the hotel but there street parking available in addition.

We absolutely loved this property. It was clean and well kept. The ONLY issue we had was the bathroom was fairly small. You had to shimmy around the toilet to close the door and bathing kids was cramped. Overall we managed.

Room was very clean. Which was a good thing. They never came to clean our room. We checked in on Friday. Sunday afternoon I reported to the front desk that no one had come to clean our room. And that the do not disturb sign was NOT on the on the front of the door. They ask if it was. ( Knot Today) is the sign. They offered to send someone later and I told them no. We had already started to pack up to leave on Monday. Parking is not good also. Over all it was not bad but not great!

And that the do not disturb sign was NOT on the on the front of the door. They ask if it was. ( Knot Today) is the sign. They offered to send someone later and I told them no. We had already started to pack up to leave on Monday. Parking is not good also. Over all it was not bad but not great!

Rooms are always clean and well maintained, the breakfast is great. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating. They even remember us when we come back which makes coming to The Palms feel like home. We love this place and have been staying here since 2017! So many nice stores, restaurants and continently located close to anything else you’d need! Highly recommend if you want to have an amazing time while in IOP! ❤️

Cons: door stuck, didn’t open or close well. Furniture was lacking, no couch or comfy chairs. U basically have to sit on bed. No place to lay out clothes.

Beautiful property. Limited parking available. We were lucky when we checked in that we got a spot in the parking garage but later after going out to eat, had to park a good distance away and walk with leftover items. Worst part by far though was the noise. Walls are so thin that you can hear any noise especially when the neighbors are loud and bachelorette parities are going on. Absolutely unable to rest despite super comfortable bedding and mattresses. A beautiful property but avoid if you are looking for rest.

Check in was quick and efficient. Our room was clean and very well stocked. My wife likes to have a couple of towels so she can dry her hair also and there were plenty of towels and other linens. Everyone from the front desk ladies to the room caretakers were pleasant and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Comfy beds but walls are super thin and you can hear everything from your neighbors. Right on the beach in a perfect location! Hotel staff should always double check what rooms guests are in so you are not woken up in the middle of the night by another guest with access to your room. Room was clean though and great restaurants near by.
- 3/5
Room was clean but had some damages and mold around the shower. Mattresses were very old and hard. The side I slept on seemed like it had been the only side slept on and it felt like I was rolling down a hill. Room keys stopped working the second night and it took me almost ten minutes to find the person who was working the reception area to fix the issue. Convenience to the beach was nice. Parking situation was bad.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Yes, all was well
- 2/5
The room was never swept as there was sand under our feet.. The only sink in the room was clogged. We brought this to the attention of the front desk and it was never resolved.. they offered huge $100 credit which I I had to argue with Expedia to receive!! Never staying here or using Expedia again !!
- 3/5
This place had no heated pool, no beach access, doors that got stuck, parking spaces taken up by construction material, run-down elevator and public areas, a leaky toilet, and chemical smell in the lobby. It would have been just fine for a cheap motel, but not for the kind of price we were paying. However, the room was comfortable, and the location and the view were great.
- 4/5
I would be very mad if I had visited during peak season and found the exterior in the condition it was during this visit. Boardwalk to the beach closed for repairs. But the one you had to use made you question your life chooses. I am not that heavy, and the boards felt like they were going to give way. Other than that, it was a nice stay. Food places are expensive but what is not these days. Parking could be improved as you don't keep building supplies in the few places you have. But the lot a crossed the street worked for me but not for my wife who has mobility issue. Look clean up the exterior and get the building supplies out of the parking spots and it would have been great. The only other thing is the night guy Buring incents it made my nose run really bad I did not want to go in there. At check out the blond woman was very nice and very professional and the place didn't smell of incents. I would of like to try your breakfast, but the smell was not good. I will probably get a condo next time. the location is great and the town very nice so I will be back.
- 4/5
Staff needs an education on the shouting in the halls and noise when cleaning the rooms.
- 5/5
Great experience couldn’t have asked for better. Super relaxing and very clean rooms
- 4/5
Room was nice and clean, staff at front desk were cold and didn’t seem happy to be there though. They seemed more annoyed that we were checking in than they were happy to greet a guest. Room was clean and well maintained. Distance to restaurants and parking was good and the street its on is festive and cute.
- 4/5
Updated older accommodations that were clean! Staff was great! Easy walk to the beach!
- 3/5
No view. Beach access closed
- 4/5
The sea side proximity was very good to relax after a busy business day. Will deffinetly come back .
- 2/5
Inadequate parking spaces at the hotel. Walls are very thin, making it VERY noisy. The boardwalk to the beach was closed as well. Would not stay here again.
- 2/5
Partial beach view was no view, property needed updated, photos were deceiving. Toilet ran all the time, had to change rooms. music next door was extremely loud into the night. Bare minimum continental breakfast. Minimal parking, had to park 1 block away. Price did not reflect the quality. Would not return.
- 1/5
When we arrived to our room there was what looked to be 2 large urine stains on the bed. This was after a long 5 hour drive and winding down in the room. After speaking with the attendant we were moved to a room with 2 queens that also had mold in the shower. My wife is now sick due to her allergy of mold. I must say the view was somewhat nice.
- 5/5
Perfect beach getaway! Excellent staff, right on the beach!!
- 4/5
Great stay.
- 2/5
Room was clean and comfortable although there is random noise at night. Hard to figure out the source, if it's mechanical or guests. Our room was near the elevator so we heard it everytime it stopped, then walking and talking from guests. Breakfast was adequate but a couple more tables would be nice as there is room in the area. Some guests put plates on counter tops and stood to eat. Hotel does call it 'grab and go'. Excellent beach access when using walkways beside hotel. Limited on site parking and hotel does have access to municipal parking. Hotel charges a parking fee either way. Isle of Palms is a great beach and must deal with crowds so this hotel is convenient to restaurants and stores and having paid parking is necessary, I suppose. So it's a mix between noise and limited space vs clean room and beach access.
- 5/5
Very nice!
- 4/5
We had a good beach view and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Comfortable and clean rooms. Parking is a challenge due to municipal policies when you first arrive. City police told us where to park to sign in and get parking pass upon arrival.
- 3/5
We were in an interior room. The room reminded me of a holiday inn. Tub and shower needed work. Staff friendly, and I noticed they vacuum all of the sand in all of the exterior hallways … a nice touch.
- 5/5
Beach view was partial but great overall
- 5/5
Breakfast was ok
- 2/5
- 4/5
Staff and beach!!!! Staff doing all they can to make you comfortable and they cared that you were tended too!
- 3/5
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was average but decent. You have to ask for food to be restocked in the morning and thats even if they have anymore. Boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, bagels, and a machine that makes pancakes. The hotel is convenient to the beach, however the boardwalk was down for repairs, as was the pool, which we werent aware of until we arrived. Thats one of the reasons I chose this hotel was because of the pool. The elevator was concerning, we were roomed on the 3rd floor and had to use the staircase the whole time because the elevator takes forever to open. Overall it served its purpose which was convenience to the beach but we will find a different hotel next time.
- 5/5
The beach was quiet and safe and the sunset was beautiful.
- 2/5
NO OCEAN VIEW. The fitted sheet on the bed doesn’t fit the bed so it kept coming off. And the sink in the bathroom was not draining properly.
- 4/5
nice ocean view from balcony
- 1/5
The next morning, I walked down to office (girl was friendly, I asked for manager) He was rude. Acted like I was making this stuff up. Said he got the elevator fixed, well someone else I knew was staying there the next day, said the elevator broke down again. He also said he would charge me half for the hotel bill, but I did not receive half. I wanted the whole thing reimbursed for all these issues. We used to live down there and needed a nice trip. Needless to say, the moment we arrived, could not find any handicap parking, only to be told, "oh there is a parking lot about 2 blocks over". Seriously...for a handicap Veteran. The so called break that we both needed, was not happening and we were disgusted by the whole hotel.
- 3/5
Elevator wasn’t working properly.
- 5/5
The place was beautiful. The staff was wonderful. The mattress was not comfortable. That is my only complaint. Otherwise phenomenal and beautiful.
- 5/5
The atmosphere was amazing here! Very short walk to the beach! Clean rooms good breakfast will definitely stay here again 😋!!
- 5/5
Staff was great and view was wonderful
- 5/5
Great service, staff and view.
- 3/5
We had a partial ocean view however there was a restaurant with outdoor seating right beneath our balcony which was opened from 10 in the morning to 11 at night. The lock on our balcony door was broken. Our refrigerator did not work so they brought a new one to our room.
- 3/5
Place was in shambles. My room had holes in the walls. There was air coming in through the front door so the weatherstripping was bad. Check in with the problem they didn’t have my room ready till about 4:20. Check out was unpleasant. Great location, good restaurants, right next-door to the hotel, beachfront access was nice. Parking sucked! If you didn’t get a parking spot underneath the hotel, you had to park in another lot, which was a bit of a walk.
- 3/5
Toilet sounded like a train engine when flushed shower rod was coming out of the wall Very limited view of the ocean from the balcony Room was clean and beds were comfortable
- 5/5
Inadequate parking within the facility. Nearby parking was ok, well lit but away from the property
- 5/5
We chose a room with a balcony facing the main road. We sat outside and enjoyed the view of people watching. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean everything was, considering it was a beachfront hotel. The walk to the beach was a short distance.
- 4/5
Staff was helpful.
- 4/5
Beach view, clean. Refrigerator and microwave in rooms.
- 3/5
Pool shut down
- 4/5
The room was big however it needed a couch or chair(s). No place to lounge except dining table and two wooden chairs.
- 4/5
Pool was under construction and that was not told to us when we booked the room. Parking is limited and they offer offsite parking but the office didn’t provide us a pass when we checked in. She told us where to park but forgot to give us the pass.
- 3/5
Noisy
- 5/5
Staff were great, room cleaned everyday, very convenient
- 3/5
Not friendly staff
- 5/5
My husband and I have been married for 13 years and have never taken a trip together without our children. This year we decided to sneak down to isle of palms and reset with just us. Everything was perfect, the hotel is a smaller “boutique style” place and we loved it. Not overcrowded, everything you need is within walking distance. Only 20 minutes or so from downtown Charleston. We ended up extending our stay 1 more night because we enjoyed it so much. Stephanie, the front desk employee was fantastic🙂 she was kind, helpful and went out of her way to accommodate us. (give that girl a raise)! we will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Property was great, location was great, and the staff were great!
- 1/5
Horrible rooms- bathroom were not clean. Brown chunks come from the shower/tub. It’s hard to get the rooms clean- even going to the front desk and asking won’t guarantee a clean room. Will not be staying here again.
- 4/5
Hotel location was right in the middle of everything!! It was great! Very walkable even for people like us with foot and leg issues. Room location wasn't so good. Paid extra for the beach view, but that was kind of blocked by a building and we were put over a restaurant/bar. Also, loads of towels were available! It is an older hotel, but it was clean and neat. Loved the wide inner hallway. Parking under the hotel is an issue so beware. Had to pay $76 more for two vehicles in the public parking area. Overall, I would come back. You really can't beat the hotel location.
- 1/5
The pool was under construction and we didn’t mind that, but we didn’t realize that meant that our room would be right next to the pool, and jack hammering started at 9am every morning. My boyfriend also fell in the elevator because a railing came off. The level of construction happening here should have had the place close down for a week. Our trip was great despite how awful the hotel was.
- 1/5
Room small and outdated, no water pressure in the bathroom, no parking
- 5/5
Great hotel, I have stayed here a couple of times and while it isn’t as fancy as some, I’ve always received great service. It is also always clean, comfortable and affordable.
- 1/5
And an elevator didn't hardly work. No one told us the pool was not usable and that they was doing demo on it. And I also had to park my truck. Add a different parkin lot and pay an extra forty dollars to stay for two nights
- 4/5
Nice place , very busy area
- 5/5
Easy check in, very clean and modern, great balcony view and easy access to beach.!!!
- 4/5
The beds - you didn’t penny-pincher with those and they made our stay! Location to beach is another plus.
- 3/5
The property charged us for parking and you said they wouldn't, that the money we paid you was all it will cost. Also they closed their pool. Dissatisfied
- 3/5
The room was very clean and the housekeeping staff were awesome. Check in was less than welcoming and the state of upkeep and repair of the room were subpar. Been staying here for years and the decline was gradual but now it’s just sad.
- 5/5
The location and amenities were great. Had a wonderful time at the Palms Oceanfront Hotel and will plan on staying there again soon!
- 4/5
- 5/5
Beautiful place to stay would recommend it and I will be going back soon. Love this place.
- 1/5
Doors to room and balcony extremely hard to open. Broken handles on hallway door. Safe didn’t work. Exposed outlet covers.. broken vent covers exposed. Reported to office multiple times … said maintanence would look at issues never did. Checked out day early due to noise levels from room and outside of rooms. Would not go back. Very disappointed
- 4/5
The property was just as pictured. The only thing was the minifridge smelled like bad milk.
- 5/5
Everything was so close to the hotel .
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
Great for a nice easy stay on beachfront property wasn’t the ritz or anything but rooms were clean and updated and you can walk pretty much anywhere you would want to go would go back
- 1/5
Our room was right across from the elevator- it was nonstop noise until 4:30am, sounded like everyone was right in our room, even with a constant fan on.
- 3/5
Nice
- 5/5
Great location and convenience
- 4/5
Our bathroom tub had a little mold at the seam and the baseboards were all dirty and dusty.
- 4/5
I did not like the fact that the boardwalk had steps up & down. We had a wagon but luckily, we were able to use the board walk at the side of the Palms which was flat and easier to pull our wagon out to the beach.
- 3/5
The property itself is ok, and the overall stay was comfortable. They don't offer room service as there aren't any restaurants on property. The wait staff was ok. There is definitely room for improvement.
- 3/5
Breakfast was minimal. Cleaning staff was friendly. Not the cleanest place but at to no fault of staff. Just not kept up. Beds were comfortable. Towels readily available. Pool area was small. Heavy on the chlorine.
- 5/5
Great location! Right on the beach. Shops and restaurants were right outside the door.
- 3/5
Parking is atrocious here. Car got super dirty because we had to park in a gravel municipal lot. There was broken door handles on the third floor stair doors. The first floor door was missing in the back stairs on the beach side allowing anyone to enter the building. Our room door had a sticking point so the only way to close it was to slam it and it was very hard to open. Room 321. The pool was very clean and well maintained, but has limited lounge area. Breakfast at this hotel is not much, and surrounding breakfast options are limited within walking distance. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Great property, but we discovered a stain on both sheets the first night and the front desk wasn’t able to locate a new fitted sheet. Housekeeping fixed it first thing in the morning.
- 5/5
We LOVED our stay! It was a short walk down the boardwalk right to the beach and we could rinse off outside before going back to our rooms. The beds were very comfortable and showers were very nice. The cleanliness of the rooms was great and housekeeping each day was so timely and well done. My whole family said we would come back here in a heartbeat! Awesome vacation!
- 5/5
Hotel was nice and quiet. right on the beach. included breakfast was great. can walk everywhere. good restaurants and shopping close by
- 2/5
For a spur of the moment trip, it wasn’t bad but for the price I expected better. Tiny bathroom. Poor parking, which you have to pay for extra, even if there’s no parking under the hotel, they send you to two other lots that will work, but then you have to walk back-and-forth. Not convenient!! The pool was dirty and small!! Overall, I would give it one to one and a half stars for effort. It is a very rundown hotel and I won’t stay there again. Seeing as how you have to pay for parking anyway I think it’s better for me to just stay a couple miles away at a nicer hotel, especially for the price!!
- 3/5
- 3/5
Location is great, it cannot be beat. The reception staff weren't friendly, the room was dirty, the halls are old, scuffed, dirty and loud, the stairs (had to take them as elevator broke) stink of urine. It wasn't worth the cost. Given the experience, we didn't choose to dine anywhere near the hotel in fear the food was in similar shape to the hotel. Maybe if you got an oceanview room, it's better. I wouldn't stay again.
- 5/5
The location was perfect—just a short walk to restaurants, shops, and local attractions, but still quiet enough for a peaceful night’s sleep. The complimentary breakfast exceeded our expectations with fresh fruit, hot options, and great coffee.
- 2/5
Place was dirty and old. I would not stay here again. Rooms should be $99.
- 4/5
Right on the beach. Comfortable room. Good breakfast options.
- 5/5
The room was clean and the view was beautiful. Everything you needed for the beach was easily accessible.
- 4/5
The room was nice. Area was loud. People were arguing loudly right outside our room at 3am. We had to pay $40/day for 2beach chairs/umbrella. But we didn’t do it the day before online because we had no idea about this, so we did not have chairs the first day. The next day we couldn’t find the set that should have had our name on it, amid the well more than 50 sets out in front of the hotel. They were all on top of each other and covered in sand. When we did find ours after losing 45 minutes walking in the burning sand and sun, people were sitting in them and had camped their stuff all around so it felt awkward kicking them out. But after all that, I wanted to sit in the seats we paid for in the shade of the umbrella. Then the water was mud brown… literally cannot see your hand Nevermind your feet. People squished together, drinking, smoking weed, not watching their kids who are throwing sand all over the place. One girl was drinking hard liquor right out of the bottle, waving it around, stumbling about, in and out of the water, falling on people and laughing, and taking drags off of random peoples’ cigarettes and blunts. This was not was I expecting and it’s not inexpensive so we were disappointed that it wasn’t better managed and more accommodating to guests. The hotel should put chairs out and reserve them for their guests daily without guests having to discover what the process is and who to contact. It’s not even part of the hotel, it’s some private beach chair company.
- 4/5
Friendly and helpful staff, nice free, moderate size breakfast, very convenient to numerous restaurants and shops, all within walking distance
- 5/5
Nice place for a weekend trip, there are a good bit of bars/restaurants in walking distance.
- 5/5
Had to give all check in info twice after room wasn’t available early-room not being ready is understandable but gave all info earlier and got parking pass and still had to go over all info credit card email everything again asked for a call when room was ready but didn’t get one and no answer in office whenever we tried to call. Still can’t beat locTion
- 4/5
Beach access, restaurants right next door or within walking distance. Small parking lot below the hotel, but spill-over parking just across the street. The rooms were fairly clean and spacious. Would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Very nice & clean, just a little noise on city side when on balcony, but nice to people watch.
- 3/5
Hotel needs a lot of work and updating
- 5/5
I liked the redone room with a built in humidifier and working with the ac unit to keep the room comfortable, also being on the beach helps with this being a good place to stay
- 5/5
Great place for families
- 5/5
The only negative is the parking. Otherwise, this place is great! Very convenient to everything we enjoy.
- 5/5
Fantastic helpful staff.
- 3/5
Decent. Bring a cooler, as the fridge is just “cool” and there’s no way to control the temp. Also, the AC wall unit will need to be jacked down to the lowest setting to be comfortable bc for some reason hot outside air is just leaching through the returns in the ceiling. The pleasant surprise was that we had a balcony facing the restaurant next door but the sliding door to the balcony is like 100% soundproof so there’s that. The parking is limited and tight, but they will let you park there and hit the beach prior to checkin, and you have a parking pass you put in your windshield that only has a checkout date on it so you can leave your car there literally all day on your checkout day and stay at the beach. Super easy access to the beach also. The best part I have to say is, seeing the warren of rabbits as we walked from the garage on the boardwalk down to the beach. Every day, it was a beautiful thing.
- 4/5
We had a great experience, mainly because of the location, free continental breakfast, and pool. I do feel it’s a bit overpriced and bathroom was small. Other than that, I am satisfied and it was worth it. There were several restaurants, ice cream, bars, shopping and beach all within a few minutes walking distance. Front desk staff was very sweet also the manager.
- 5/5
The hotel is in an excellent location. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Overall a really good stay.
- 3/5
The hotel location is excellent. There is only 1 elevator for the whole hotel. On our first day someone had dumped a whole cooler of ice in the elevator, and unfortunately just left all the ice inside like elevator floor. The room doors are very heavy and stick, would be very difficult to open if elderly or disabled. Our bathroom sink would not drain. There is no cleaning service. Though if you go to front desk they will give you clean towels and a broom to clean your own room. Breakfast offered is the same exact thing every day.

The only positive feedback I can give was that the room was clean. The sliding glass door would not lock. We immediately brought it to the attention of the front desk staff. We were told they’d bring up a bar to put in the door, if they could find one. Never received it or heard back from management! The bathroom is VERY small. The pics on line are deceiving. The air conditioning didn’t work properly. Even at the discounted rate through Expedia, the room was grossly overpriced. The chairs on the beach, are old and some are falling apart. The elevator was another issue, other guests were also complaining about it in the hallway.

Hotel was ok. Front desk staff was not very friendly at check in or when we went down for questions. Nice area. Right in the thicke of it all.

Not enough staff- hard to find them. Housekeeping did a partial job one day and we lacked a shower curtain.

The property was conveniently located.

Beds were uncomfortable. Parking garage was extremely small and hard to maneuver in. Ended up parking across the street which hotel charged an additional fee to do so. Elevator was small. Easy access to beach however the boardwalk had numerous nails sticking up. Seemed dirty around the access and a group of possible workers hung out in the parking garage near beach access. Did not feel comfortable at all.

We had a great weekend in South Carolina - loved being so close to the beach.

Nice quiet place.

Wi Fi did not work the whole time we were there. My husband cut his arm pretty bad on the pool gate and no first aid kit was offered. The manager only gave him 1 band aid. Luckly, I had a first aid kit in my car. It felt like the staff did not care at all that a quest got hurt on their property.

The staff was VERY rude. Didn't recognize we were even in the lobby to check in. Didn't have the skill set to communicate - AT ALL. No smiles, no "hello", no "have a great stay." The floors in our room were filthy and sticky - the bottom of our feet was disgusting. We didn't want to put ANYTHING on the floor. The towels had holes in them - worn out. VERY LOUD! WE WILL NOT RETURN.

Great location! Right on the beach. Restaurants right next door to walk to. Room was nice we used the continental breakfast. My mom had just left the hospital from kidney surgery and we arrived at 2:50pm. The property made me pay an additional $100 because we needed her in the room to rest of course before the check in time. Just be advised they do not accommodate an early check in.
