Reviews
The hotel's beachfront location is its most praised feature, with many guests appreciating the proximity to the beach and local amenities. However, the rooms are consistently criticized for being small, outdated, and in need of maintenance. The parking situation is also a common complaint, with guests finding it limited and often having to pay extra.

view of the beach and access to the ocean were fantastic. would stay there again, and recommend it.

Lots of loud folks and next to the windjammer. Be prepared to get little sleep.
- 3/5
That said, the bedding appeared clean, and the included breakfast was much better than expected. The location and views are absolutely beautiful and are easily the property's strongest assets. At the moment, this is more of a budget-friendly place to sleep than a destination property. If you're simply looking for an affordable room in a great location, it will likely meet your needs. However, it still has a long way to go before the accommodations match the appeal of the setting.

Parking is atrocious, very limited and tight parking under the Inn, the overflow lot is across the street again with limited and tight spots. On-site pool is a 3.5' small wading pool. Rooms need refreshed, bathrooms need remodeling. Wooden walkway to the beach needs repair, breakfast was mediocre. Perks, close to great attractions and food, the VFW Post is next door and a great place to enjoy libation and tunes from Windjammer, membership is required and strict. Direct access to the beach, chairs and umbrellas are not provided, bring your own or rent, towels are provided. Price is good for what you get. Beds were comfortable.

The microwave ate our daughter’s bottle and we couldn’t get it out until maintenance came the next day. The fire alarm went off at night waking the entire hotel up and sending our toddler into a panic attack with no explanation from staff. The “free” breakfast was a joke. Housekeeping just opened our door with the do not disturb placard on the handle one hour before checkout. They came knocking again 30 minutes before checkout. Very pushy to get us out. I was shouted at by the maintenance man for taking the luggage cart to the loading zone while trying to put our luggage in my truck. Very unorganized operation. If not for the ocean that borders this property, there is no way they would still be in business. No focus on guest experience. You are treated more like cattle they are just cycling through. Spend the extra money and stay elsewhere.

The location was great. Could enjoy neighboring shows at windjammer. The floors were rotting out from where the shower doesn’t keep in water. The air conditioner in the neighboring room was so loud my girlfriend couldn’t sleep. We were hit with pet fee’s which weren’t too surprising but having to pay to park at the hotel in which I’m paying to be at? Almost a hundred dollars in parking and a hundred in pet fees on top of 1400 for the room was ridiculous. Will not return.

Right on the beach. Walking distance to food and ice cream, shops, etc. Clean and nice. Concerts nearby. Nice music. Nice beach. Quiet by 11 pm usually for us to sleep good. Getting a little too expensive.

Very nice, quiet, simple hotel with everything you need. Friendly staff. Very nice size rooms - for solo traveler or even a couple - more than enough. Complementary breakfast - very decent coffee and bagels with cream cheese. I traveled with a dog - no issues at all. Pretty tight parking under the hotel with only few spots but they have overflow parking across the street. Overall very satisfying stay.

Perfect location! Close to the beach and restaurants.

Room was clean, friendly staff and loved the easy access to the beach. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance, multiple with live music, so there was plenty to do without having to drive and leave the area. We’ll definitely be back!

Everything was great. Could not keep the sand off the floor. A better floor sweeper is needed.

The only thing that was good was the location. The hotel itself was a dump. Parking was costly and terrible. Based on the photos you would not know the place was little more than a dive!

Attitude was a real deal breaker for us. After arriving to our room we discovered the lights were out for 3/4 of the room - particularly troublesome for the bathroom. Went to front desk and waited about 20 min for someone to come and check out what we assumed to be a fuse issue. Another 20 min and problem is not resolved. Go to the desk to get an update and Miss Attitude is very sassy despite the patience and respect we afforded her. We had been on the beach all day and wanted to shower and head out for an anniversary dinner. Suggested maybe we could relocate to a new room… She was resistant to the idea and we went back to the room to wait longer. Meanwhile I had dropped ice on the floor and used a washcloth to clean it up and the floor was filthy! Imagine if I had lights to actually see… 15 min pass and a much nicer staff member came & gave us the code to a new room. The new room was newly renovated and a much better, cleaner accommodation. Wondering if bc we booked thru Expedia we were given a tired, old room bc the resort was very quiet and you would think they’d want to impress guests by assigning the newer rooms. Unfortunately the lack of professionalism by the front desk and the filthy floor in the first unit will deter us from visiting this resort in the future. Plenty of nearby choices

Clean I both loved and hated the air conditioner. the weather was warm and humid, so the AC felt great. However the AC units ae extremely noisy. My husband and I travel with noise canceling head phones so we were able to sleep pretty well. If we didn't have those the noise would have been very bad for sleeping and room would have been stuffy with AC turned off. The window could be opened and if there wre a breeze and the restaurant /bar nearby wasn't having a big weekend event it might have been okay. we wee there on a monday night.

Great location. Rooms were dated with some holes in the walls. But overall clean at least. Needs some upkeep to the rooms and outside. Also wanted $100 for early check in. Not sure why you charge of the room is open /available, especially for the rates they charge for what you get.

Rooms are tiny..parking is tight.. the overflow is a good ways away..breakfast was decent.. rooms were clean but extremely small.. very little counter space in bathroom. We had one of the updated rooms.. I would hate to see the ones that were not updated.

No beach view for rooms on 1st floor,in fact there are only 6-9 rooms with a ocean view, paid about $400 but our view was a wall of the office, room is dark , window to the side where all ppl walk so we kept closed.

Breakfast was good (even if options were limited) Housekeeping came by twice before our checkout time and would not stop knocking. Code to the door would not work and had to go back down to the front desk (luckily they were open). Limited parking.

After reading all the negative reviews, most of which seemed petty and unnecessary, I decided to book this property to see for myself. Im glad I did, this place is a hidden gem. Clean, amazing location, great staff, daily room cleanings, grab and go breakfast, pool, back of hotel deck with picnic tables and beach access. What more can you ask for? I will say that during the summer, Friday and Saturday has live outdoor concerts at the Windjammer next door, so expect loud music from 6 to 11pm those nights. But, watch the FREE concert on the back deck of this fantastic hotel, in the heart of this amazing island. Not much, maybe a seat or two in the room, and bring a blanket to black out the window as lights outside are bright.

Location location location Was supposed to be a deluxe king room...was a queen bed, nothing deluxe about it (was no different from the standard king room we stayed in last yr in March). The blinds were broken and the filters were ON the ac unit not in it. Other than location, we were definitely disappointed this trip
- 3/5
My room had 1 window, I didn’t expect an ocean view necessarily, but the view from my window was right into the hallway where people walked, all I could see was the hallway wall. They only had blinds, no blackout curtains so the light from the hallway shined into the room all night. Overall mediocre place to stay. I will say the location was excellent, great beach area and popular restaurants directly next door.
- 3/5
Was expecting ocean view at least because of name. Rooms were all facing hallways, no balcony or ocean view. Overall pleasant stay, but was quite a hike to even get sight of ocean or beach.
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and helpful. Its wonderful to be so close to the beach. We were in walking distance to a lot of wonderful restaurants and fun places. The rooms could use a deep cleaning, the floors left our feet dirty. The building could definitely use some renovations. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable but the pillows were nice. The parking is not that great. There are only a few places to park under the building but there is an overflow parking lot. Over all we were happy enough that we will stay there again.

The room was dirty. There is no carpet but the floors were so dirty, my feet were black if I walked barefoot out of bed. The toilet and shower were clean but the walls and floor of the bathroom were not clean. The parking is ridiculous, I saw 3 cars run into walls or poles under the building and then we got a parking ticket for parking on the street. Two out of 3 staff were nice. The first counter person in the hotel told us we could pay $100 to check in 30 minutes early upon arrival. There was a wrestling match going on next door and it was soooo loud but they could not accommodate us in another room on the other side of the hotel. All in all the pictures are deceiving. The hotel is not nice!
- 5/5
The room was outdated but clean. The shower had a few cracks but the location cannot be beat. There was a band playing at the windjammer next door and the second floor looks out at it so we had the best seat in the house. The pool is not great but we were at the beach all day so it didn’t matter. They had sufficient parking but it was across the street. Definitely recommend eating at acme! Fun little town for sure.
- 2/5
The light right outside our window was so bright all night. Only shades on the tiny window. No curtains. The air conditioning unit in the room throughout the night sounded like an airplane landing nearby.

Access to the beach was great. New Air Unit was not functioning and there was clearly issues with the electrical socket. Asked to move rooms because we were GOING to move rooms. I am not staying in a room with no air or the potential of a fire. The front desk employee said she would have maintenance look at it, though it is “brand new”, in the meantime we could now not have the size of room we asked for (though there was one available when we arrived early and would have had to pay $100 for one hour early checkin. We could also upgrade our room to an ocean view for $140 more PER NIGHT. No thanks, but since you put us in the room with the broken air—we have to lower our expectations. I’m not convinced that room was rented out in that hour. I said we would let the maintenance man look at it. It took him 3 minutes to determine we needed to “move room” when he saw the air unit was having electrical issues. He met us back down in the lobby and it was evident the front desk employee was angry. She took about 20 minutes to get us moved to another room. The new room was a hell hole. For the amount that we paid, the added parking fee, $100 fee to check in an hour early if we wanted to, the horrible shape the place is end with poor excuses for “high end” looking fixture and hardware, terrible paint job, and the way the employee doubted that the air was an issue—-stay away! We found out The Palms is nicer and there were rentals we would probably look into, too.

Not much. The first room was very small and looked at a wall. Paid $900 +. Asked for a different room. Bigger room looking into the hotel next door. The rooms were old and needed updating. Mold in the bathroom. Tile in the shower was so uneven you had to stand in an inch of water while taking a shower. The beach was nasty. People had their dogs, but didn't clean up after them. Located too far from everything. Very expensive.......Over $900 for three nights.

Convenient location in center of island nightlife with surprisingly quiet rooms. Loved the parking & super helpful staff at this moderate hotel.
- 2.5/5
The location is perfect. You are in the middle of everything and can walk to lots of restaurants and stores. Beachfront was a plus as well. It’s a little worn down. The floor has black marks across it, the bathroom tile in the shower was really worn down. The toilet paper roll was coming out of the wall. There was blue duct tape across the fire alarm and smoke detector. The window did not have any curtains and there were bright lights outside the room so it wasn’t fully dark inside the room at night. The first night there I wasn’t able to park in either of the allotted parking lots for the hotel because they were full.

Wonderful staff and great location and great staff but rooms are in poor condition.

The room was decent but the women working the front desk was very rude and not helpful.

They shoved towels under a/c units so water wouldn’t go all over the place View was beautiful though that was about it

Loved being on the water and next to all the happenings of the area.

The location was great and being right on the beach. The pool is very very small and the rooms are musty, smelling, and old with holes in the walls. It’s definitely not worth what they are charging per night. Plus then having to pay $15 a day for parking.

Great location for a day at the beach. Looks ran down and rigged together. Stains on beddings. Pillows non existent fluff.

The property was a basic room right on the beach. The staff was great and accommodating. The only downfall was the bar next door has concerts often and it is very loud. Don’t plan on going to bed until after 10:00 if there is a concert.

Absolutely disgusted - the owner(s) of this hotel should be ashamed of themselves. We are both 56, and traveled to Charleston 4/9/26 to 4/13/26 to visit our daughter in college. Our stay was until Monday, August 13, 2026. This apparently was the busiest time of the year, as it is spring break for some colleges, April vacation for schools, and the Masters was occurring 2 hours away. Hotels were charging top dollar, as did the car rental agencies. We chose to stay at the seaside, in an We chose to stay at the seaside, in a small room with a king size bed, for a rate of $300 per night. We arrived at 10:30 pm, the one staff member that was at the property was extremely unfriendly. The only parking for the property was 1/4 mile from the hotel , across a very busy road, and also not free - we had to pay to park our car, which was a Chevy trailblazer that totaled almost $700 for 5 days. We got off the one elevator that was in the building, which, even though there was not a soul around, took over five minutes for the elevator to come to the bottom floor. We got off the elevator, and there were no signs directing which way your room was. My husband went one way around the building, and I went the other, and we found our room. We opened the door, and was met with the heaviest smell of mold and mildew, the bed was full of sand, the soap in the bathroom was old and had rings, the shower had hair mold and dirt,

This hotel is in a great location and is right next to the Windjammer and walking distance to many more restaurants/bars. We had some issues with finding parking and with the cleanliness of both of our rooms bathrooms. Management said it would be addressed.

Parking was an issue on arrival. We were sent to municipal lot, which wasn’t part of parking plan

Nice access to beach but the room was a bit dated and small for the price.

The room was very clean and comfortable. We had awesome beach views from the balcony. The parking was a little tight but very manageable. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Close to the beach Outdated and shower was updated and able to hold our shower supplies.

Make sure you have your license plate in hand or they won’t check you in plus parking is a bit small especially if you have a large suv- overflow is located about 50 feet away but thy will only tell you that when you check in with your license plate

Great beach hotel - Erik went above and beyond's expectations. Great staff. Direct beach access - close to everything in downtown IOP. Comfy beds
- 2/5
No view of anything but wall from window. Room was damp. Ac half worked. Very run down with rust in bathrooms, shower, ni plug in sick. Big hole. Had to be careful not to lose anything. Would not stay here again. Location was only good thing.

2nd shift Front Desk receptionist wasn't friendly; seemed like we were bothering her when we asked her questions.
- 3/5
Incredibly expensive for a small room with a bed and a bathroom. Very, very overpriced. No view at all and subject to blaring music from the next place. Additionally, after paying a LOT of money, I was charged for parking. And I had to use the auxiliary parking outside and across the street from the hotel. Definitely not worh what Oi was charged.
- 5/5
space was great and i loved the area it was in. so much music playing and close to the best bars and there was events happening the weekend. Had a lot of fun and the staff was super nice. parking wasn’t horrible there is a fee though fyi. still close to the hotel. best part was being right next to the beach!
- 2/5
The room and facilities did not match what was advertised. The pool was dirty and covered in sand—even though it is located away from the beach—which made it unappealing to use. The room itself felt musty and cramped for three people. The bathroom was very dated and uncomfortable, and there were no curtains to block the light from the outside walkway, making it difficult to sleep. For the price we paid, this stay was extremely disappointing. That said, the bed and towels were clean, and the woman who greeted me at the front desk was kind and welcoming. Overall, this property did not provide the value or experience it advertised, and I would not choose to stay here again.
- 3/5
Hotel is next to Windjammers - great if you want to watch the outside concerts free but expect thumping music until midnight.
- 2/5
The room was clean. But the hotel is a Super 8 with great real estate. The paint is chipping. The toiletries looked like the fell off of a truck. The “breakfast” was laughable. It was not even close to being worth the cost and I am incredibly disappointed.

It’s a great location. Walking distance to restaurants/bars and shops. It’s beside the windjammer so be prepared for live music. Which you can enjoy from the shared balcony Oceanside of hotel. Friendly staff and good little continental breakfast. It’s definitely great for the younger crowd.
- 3/5
Feature I liked: Automatic pancake maker Worst Feature: Parking is limitted at the hotel (4 spots) and there are two other locations to park (1 and 2 blocks away). Don't go out you will lose your spot to someone who is there for the bar. Features I did not like: Stage beside the hotel, large amount of inebriated people on the street at 9-10, making vehicle travel dificult. The property is older and it shows, but you are there for the beach not the property.
- 1/5
Pool closed. But, staff were nice and efficient…they just didn’t have much to work with. And, I never do reviews.
- 1.5/5
The location was great. The team at the front desk were very nice. The room was in poor condition with a hole in the bathroom wall with putty pushed in it to try and cover up the hole. The shower drain had a bent drain with a rusty nail attempting to hold it down. The bathroom door and main door did not open and close well. The room was very small so that the main door almost touched the bed when opening it. The room smelled damp and did not smell well. I have always been pleased with the hotels I have booked with Booking.com until now. Very disappointed.
- 2/5
Bed sheets would not stay on. Beds had sand on them. Cleaning staff did not replace towels. Night check-in person was curt. Morning person was nice. Parking facilities are for small vehicles and cost $10 per day. Facilities need help. Shower needed regrouted and new tile. The lights right outside the window were as the sun during the day and all they had to keep it out were cheap blinds that we had to hang towels over. It still felt like mid morning shining through when it was 2am. They put us next to the electrical room for the elevator even though there were lots of other rooms. Every time the elevator moved, my pillow vibrated and whirred. The heater sounded like it was going to blow up every time it cycled. And of course we prepaid for the hotel, something I NEVER do because things like this happen sometimes, especially when you book third party. And breakfast consists of pancakes, boiled eggs, yoplait yogurt and stale bagels. Unfortunately they kept putting the cream cheese packets in a basket outside the refrigerator even though they clearly say keep refrigerated. Breakfast is 2 hours long and believe me, those bagels weren’t moving. The cream cheese packets were starting to spoil on the bottom. They did vacuum, unfortunately it was at 6am. The WiFi never showed up even though we were 20 ft from the office. Within walking distance of some great restaurants, and there is a great view of the ocean from the back of the hotel. The beach is very clean and is easy to walk to.

I’d do your best to find another location…yes it’s on the beach but the room smelled wicked musty and there’s no privacy whatsoever! The outdoor light shines rt into the room and you can’t block it. The beds were so uncomfortable, we DID not sleep and left the next day! And for the cherry on top …the fire alarm went off exactly at 7am inside the room ! We woke up and left immediately! Staff was nice tho

beach front I ask for a room looking the ocean, but despite they have plenty beach front rooms they gave me one of the worst & blind room (#1004)

Hotel was undergoing some minor construction but it did not hinder our visit at all. Room had no frills, but was very clean. Staff was super nice and seemed happy. Location was great! The beach bar a few doors down had heavy pour!

The location is fantastic. There were ROACHES in my room.

Not the nicest hotel, could use some tlc like fixing damaged trim and walls, but worked for our one night stay. Workers were very nice and accommodating. Location was perfect, was able to walk right onto the beach. However if you’re a light sleeper beware of the bars in the area, they usually have bands playing until 10pm and can be heard from inside the rooms.

It would be nice if rooms had chairs...just the bed. It would be more comfortable to have a least one or two comfortable chairs. Rooms are large enough to support that.

Disappointed. This was my second stay and now will be my last. This property could be a gem and could be a boutique hotel in a cookie cutter area. Right now it’s poorly maintained… steps from first floor to second are out of order, half and half both in room and at guest desk was expired, towel racks falling off wall, no chairs or any where to sit in room except on the bed, no place to put toiletries in shower, etc. It’s sad to see a place like this with so much potential suffering from shoddy workmanship and poor maintenance.

Any metal surface at the hotel is covered in rust, to include an entire stairwell that was rusted out and missing majority of stairs. Hotel room door and hinges were all rusted and did not want to close/latch without some serious manipulation. Beach view in my room was a sliver of the top corner of the window that you could see the water, if you pressed your face against the glass. Not what I was expecting to say the least. No bugs, so that’s a plus!

I will give it 3 stars because the Staff was wonderful and the views and beech convenience is hard to beat. Breakfast options were above what i expected. The rooms were just ok. Run down and need updating. Old furniture and blinds on the windows that don't block out the outdoor hallway lights. Had to cover window with towels. We had one bug issue which i didn't complain to the desk about because we were checking out anyway. I got a great price on expedia because of the time of year. I would not pay during peak season the price they ask. Looks like other neighboring properties could be a bit better.

The beach view was nice, but we were on the opposite end of building. There was no where to sit on 3rd floor balcony, it was blocked off. The one positive was the bed was comfortable. BUT. We were so tired, the pavement would have sufficed. The room it self wasn't bad, other than the AC unit was noisy. The room window opened, which is a plus for us. The bathroom was HORRIFYING. And a lot of basic upkeep and repairs could have made it decent. As it was, the ENTIRE bathroom floor flooded during our showers due to the shower curtain being 3" to short and being a fabric instead of vinyl. HELLO! Any one hear of Walmart or Amazon? $8 could have resolved THAT ISSUE. All the metal fixtures, including the door frame to the bathroom were rusty and corroded. Just begging for a tetanus shot. All the hardware was screwed into sheetrock with 2" screws, so as a result, all the towel bars etc were partially pulled out. For what ever reason, maintenance decided to paint the tiles of the shower floor, which was peeling. Not exactly hygenic. Foot fungus for every body! Even the bar soap provided was gross. It smelled rancid like old cooking oil? Maybe it was kept somewhere with out climate control. Now, I'm not one of the whiners that typically leave reviews. And belive me if this room had been priced appropriately ( $100 or less) I would be less critical. But OVER $200 OFF SEASON for this sh#t hole is CRAZY WORK.Oh! The best part was the damn smoke alarm that went off due to shower steam.

The room was clean but dated and a bit worn down. There were scuff marks on the floor, a towel rack coming loose from the wall, and metal doors showing rust where the paint had chipped away. The air conditioning unit was quite noisy, and the temperature in the room swung between too cold and too warm throughout the night. After 11:30 p.m., the front desk and office are locked, and calls to the front desk are redirected to another hotel nearby. I’m not sure if that setup contributed to the rowdy group of guests just outside our room, but between that noise and the AC, sleep was hard to come by. Overall, it was a decent place for the price, but definitely a “you get what you pay for” experience. We learned our lesson and will likely look for a different hotel next time under similar circumstances.

View was beautiful however hotel needs updating. Toilet roll holder fell off the wall. Shower curtain too short and stuck out so that water flooded the floor while showering. Beds were not comfortable and outside light kept the room bright all night. Location for good, drinks and shopping were great.

Walls are thin so you can hear the other tenants; however, the room was sanitary and housekeeping was consistent. Location was great for being on the beach. Parking is a ways out but not too far. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Free bottles of water is available at the front desk.

The hotel is located right by the ocean, but it could use some renovations. There are plenty of cafes and a grocery store nearby. Towels, shampoo, and shower gel are provided in the room. Breakfast is very meager; there's no place to sit and eat. There are benches with an ocean view on the ground floor, but they are wet and dirty in the morning.

Bathrooms are in desperate need of updating and repair with holes in the walls and shower water goes all over the bathroom. The staff was very nice and bedroom was clean. Location in the beach is the best part

Second, I wasn’t able to make it to Charleston for medical reasons yet was charged the full rate of missing the stay. Poor communication , inability for any type of flexibility and unfriendly customer support - rating of 1 out of 10, wish I could rate a 0.

Great stay
- 2/5
We were disappointed in the hotel considering the price we paid. The room had rust stains in some areas and could have been dusted better. The addition parking lot across the road did have a sign but there were car parking in front of the sign both days.
- 3/5
"Ocean view" was not as we expected. Literally have to lean out the door to see the ocean. Property in good shape but definitely in need of some maintenance/TLC. Room itself and bathroom was great. BIGGEST complaint is I asked for a late checkout the day prior to departure. Night clerk said we could have a 1pm checkout. The next day the office called asking why we were still there. I explained that we had requested to late check out the night before. The front desk clerk said he did not have info that we had a late checkout, then accused us of making it up. I understand sometimes things aren't communicated between shifts, but I was very offended that he accused us of telling a lie.

The bathroom was simple but functional. A small coffee station was equipped with a Keurig coffee machine, a small microwave and a mini-fridge. Replacement coffee pods, waters and other necessities were freely available from the lobby. Off-street parking was available under the building, with the cost added to the bill at check-in. Don't underestimate this - the city parking ambassadors (as they are called) are very active in the streets outside! A complementary continental style breakfast is served daily in the lobby, which we enjoyed on the tables overlooking the beach. On the con's - be aware that only six of the rooms have full sea views and semi-private balconies, and these rooms have a premium price tag. All the other rooms have no sea view, or 'partial' sea views. We found our room to be a bit sparse - there was nowhere to sit apart from the bed (but then, you're there to sit on the beach, not in your room...). A simple piece of artwork on the wall would have given the room some character. Tiled floors seemed a bit austere and cold at first, but after we had dropped sandy clothes on the floor, we realized that carpets or mats would have been a big mistake! All in all, five minutes on the beach and a dip in the sea water, and one tends to overlook the minor imperfections of the stay!

The staff was very nice and the room was super clean. Very close to restaurants and beautiful view of the ocean.
- 2/5
The beach and stuff was nice. But for $300 a night the caulking around the sink was un professional. Beds are spring beds. Tv was trash. Good views and beach was amazing.
- 5/5
Parking was tight under the property but there was more across the street. Great for the price.
- 1/5
Beach view was almost non-existent. I am currently disputing my overcharges on my final bill. Unless this is fixed I am notifying the BBB and Consumer Protection Agency and blasting this establishment on Google and YELP!!!
- 1/5
The room first impression was okay. No tissues just an empty box. Only 2 towels in room. Flushed the toilet and it clogged no plunger. Shower head looked 7 years old. No hot water no water pressure either. Requested room change and upon opening 315 moving from 314 the room 315 smelled like pesticide and mold. Didn’t waste any time requesting room change and apologized to the clerk stating it’s just not going to work. For the 4th conversation with the guy working the counter he simply didn’t care at all. Horrible experience wouldn’t recommend one bit. Bad parking that fits 8 cars or park .2 miles away.
- 4/5
Ideal location to the beautiful beach!
- 5/5
Nice being right on the beach. Great vibe the whole visit.
- 5/5
Great location. On the beach with an attached beach access and even outdoor shower to wash away sand. Walkable location and right next to bar and restaurants, so keep in mind you will have some crowd noise. Clean, daily maid service. Minus one star for very limited parking, have an overflow gravel lot down the street ( not great with bags). Will stay again since more pros then cons.
- 4/5
It had great beach access. Also there’s nightlife right at your fingertips if that’s what you are looking for!! However if you aren’t and you are planning to turn in and relax early. Prob not the best place. I didn’t realize you have to pay for parking separately. Also I paid for the insurance from Expedia incase I needed to cancel. Turns out, if the property is non refundable EVEN IF you paid for the ins, it doesn’t matter. I don’t know why I use this app. SMH. Hotels ok tho.
- 4/5
I was a little worried because of the bad reviews but honestly it’s a great little place :)
- 4/5
The day person at front desk was excellent! Our only complaint was the lights that come on at night are so bright they illuminate the whole room and it was difficult to get sleep! I would recommend less wattage in the lights and darkening curtains for the windows
- 3/5
Floors were nasty, hair on the bed, sheets were dirty. Sink leaked, toilet was about to fall over.

Nice staff great location
- 2/5
The location in regards to the beach was excellent. The limited parking on site was frustrating as it was an extra charge and the designated overflow lot was a block away and the limited parking was not informed prior to check-in. The bed was uncomfortable and a metal springs mattress. The walls were also very thin. My husband sneezed and set the neighboring dog into a barking frenzy.
- 2/5
The rooms badly needed remodeling. Breakfast was extremely basic. Staff was hit or miss on helpfulness. Very limited places to sit around the property. Best part was proximity to the beach.
- 1/5
The property is run down and very little is being done to make it look like a property sitting on some of the most expensive beaches in SC. We changed rooms twice and still had issues with the toilet, door and deadbolt. Rooms are VERY small. TV was terrible connection and TV was tiny. I go to IOP a fair amount. My first try at this property..... And last!
- 4/5
Room smelled like bleach. Made us feel like it was clean but too strong. The window blind was broken. I had to put something in the window. Otherwise it wasn’t bad. Bathroom could use updating.

It’s fine. Just a one night getaway, but the AC is not really working right. Other than that great location on IOP

Jake at the front desk was the only positive in our experience. He was very customer service oriented. Held out bags and helped with information to enjoy our stay. That being said - When we were eventually able to check in it was another male employee - the night guy obviously and in need of a customer service class. We did not get the room we thought we rented (King/Oceanview) - then our room (206) had mold in the bathroom and an awful odor (mold/butane smell). Tried to air out and when we returned from dinner the plaster from the ceiling in the bathroom had fallen on the floor and another room by us that was unrented had the door left unsecured (210) - which we reported at the same time as the plaster issue. Tried to give us the "open" room (210) - which we declined - and gave us an "upgrade" to a partial view room (214) - no help offered to change rooms (could have offered the baggage cart) but on our own mind you 10:30pm - moved rooms - door did not open all the way so had to maneuver luggage to the right - close door to go left to get around. Deadbolt not working - The recessed light in the bathroom was a little too recessed/we could see the insulation/wires in the ceiling and the toilet was not secured to the floor - still had shims under it - that could have been a mess. The hotel looks nothing like the pictures - paint chipping - plaster chunking off everywhere - odors - nothing like what was expected. Very Disappointed!!
- 4/5
Room was very humid.
- 2/5
When we first got to the small room we sat on the bed and a roach ran across and jumped off the bed. The office/breakfast area roof had a bad leak that was leaking rain water on the bagels.
- 4/5
Great beach location.
- 2/5
We have stayed there before, we had weekend shows at the WindJammer. We were told by Expedia we had an Oceanfront room. Not what we got, toilet was running when we got in, my husband fixed that. The shower curtain did not fit. There was a flood every time we showered. Rust holes in the bathroom. I only agreed to stay there for the Oceanfront room, which they told me Expedia doesn’t have the rights to sell. Sorry not happy at all. For the price I paid I would have gone somewhere else. 100 percent.
- 4/5
The Beach i like no, not enough activity for my culture.
- 2/5
Odor of Chemicals for cleaning, probably to fight mold, were so strong they triggered a serious asthma attack in my husband. Odor of mold broke through and seemed disseminated as air conditioner came on. We had to check out early and suffer financial loss. Many areas of room and areas of facility needed repair and painting. Disappointing as location was excellent.
- 1/5
Inconvenient parking. Had to pay for parking. Everything felt damp and wet. The bed pillows and blankets were wet feeling. Paid $569 for this place for one night and it was like a cheap motel. The lady at the front desk was extremely unhelpful and was sitting on the couch watching tv. Absolutely do not recommend.
- 3/5
Would it kill them to repair the hole in the ceiling above the shower head? Also good luck with parking. The onsite parking is limited to about 10 slots under the building, very cramped. Over flow parking is 75 yards away in a very congested area.

Do not bother spending more money on a sea view vs regular room as the standard rooms get the same view as you do just a little further back. Both rooms you have to step outside to see the ocean. The shower flooded the bathroom floor everytime we showered. Only thing good about this motel was that it was right on the ocean. Would also be nice if they told you that you had to pay to park in their lot at the time of booking. Front desk people were not friendly at all.

Not pleased with the stay at all. The hotel is lit up like the 4th of July which is fine until its time to sleep. The blinds did not block out the light at all so I had put towels up so we could sleep. The bathroom door would not close nor would it lock. Toilet paper holder was non existent and towel holder was falling off the wall. I had to fix the toilet at least 5 times because the chain came off and it either wouldn't flush or would constantly run because the chain got under the flapper. Taking a shower while the curtain was stuck to my body was rather annoying because curtain rod is curved into the shower and theres no place to put anything in the shower other than the floor. The water would pool in the corner behind the toilet. The only mirror is in the bathroom. Would be nice if there was a mirror outside the bathroom so more than 1 person can get ready to go out at a time. There's only 1 small trash can in the bathroom and there's not enough room to put toiletries so they're more convenient. No place to sit other than the beds. The beds had hair all on and in them. There was a small bench behind the door but had to put bags on it to get them out of the way. And one last thing, the elevator was out of order for a day because someone had decided to doo doo in there one night. They did have it up and running by the next day. Still had a lingering odor tho. It is convenient to the beach but I would not ever stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Great stay

Hotel on the beach with many restaurants and bars surrounding hotel. Great view into bar next door having bands and concerts.

Pet friendly

When we came in pillows were wet. Was still some sand on a beach where we were sleeping putting our bags. I think housekeeping just needs to be a little better. Not sure if they are lazy or rushing.

Quiet

Ok the building is in need of general maintenance(guard rails are lose, the sink in our room was moving around, lose steps etc) yes they have WiFi in the rooms but no internet connection, the windows have blinds but no curtains so the out side light comes in all the time. The staff was very good and friendly
- 2/5
Not updated, noisy, worn down, to expensive for what you get, room was moist and humid
- 3/5
This property is in a stellar location, but it has been worn hard and hung up wet. The bathroom sink would not drain, and the shower curtain kept zero water inside shower. Mostly the bathrooms need to be gutted. The beds were decent and I would add a blackout curtain.

Josh at front desk and other staff are nice.
- 2/5
The door to the room would not close well, which is a huge safety issue. The restroom door would not latch at all hindering any sense of privacy. Several things in the room were broken and not repaired such as in the shower the shelf had been broken off. And housekeeping did not come after we asked.

Outstanding location
- 4/5
Beds were very comfortable with crisp clean sheets. Room smelled freshly cleaned. The light to the bathroom was on the outside of the bathroom and a little annoying in the middle of the night because it shines the light into the bedroom. Loved that clean towels were available anytime for guests to grab.
- 3/5
On the beach with easy access to everything. Freindly staff and prompt service, very nice continental breakfast in the mornings. Though a little run down, the room was very small and shower curtain lets water onto floor requiring an extra towel. There is a larger room available that faces the ocean but of course cost more. Pics in expedia shows the large room.

Location was excellent, no attendant after 10pm. Free breakfast in the morning started at 0730, not 0630... no place to sit and eat, although breakfast was pancakes and cereal. Did like code for door instead of room key. Staff friendly.

Good customer service, easy beach access, close to many restaurants and live music. Housekeeping did a wonderful job.

Everything is wonderful

The location of seaside inn is the only good thing about it . No balcony rooms at an ocean front hotel is ridiculous. The staff was not helpful, the rooms are very very small and when it rained one night the rain came I. Under our door . One morning the cleaning guy came in without knocking and we were scared . Over all not a good experience . We will not be staying there again
- 5/5
This is the sweetest little inn on the beach, easy access to the sand and water. Surrounded by restaurants. The staff was super friendly. Wonderful for my first visit to South Carolina!

The worker at the desk was extremely helpful and she really took the time to make our stay right.
- 2/5
The room was ok, no chairs at the table on the wall. The bathroom the toilet was not secure kept trying to fall over, sink same way. Shower kept flooding because shower curtain was too short and the rod was installed backwards, the bottom trim by shower exposed a hole and was in terrible condition exposing chipped paint and half the wall was gone. The bathroom was in poor condition the room was in ok condition it served it’s purpose we slept and left but if staying in for a longer period of time would not be ideal.

2. I paid for partial ocean view! We had a small window in the back corner with shutters. You had to peek through and look over a palm tree to get a tiny glimpse of the ocean. 3. I went to the vending machine located on the second floor right outside our room and there was a big pile of loose poop! 4. I was awakened on my second morning to drilling and hammering. I called the front desk and ask what was going on and he just simply said it appears to be construction work! I said here in the hotel and he said yes. It was horrible! 5. I am handicapped and paid 100.00 to park at the hotel. There was never any spots open and had to park two streets over. 6. I paid a total of $1500.00 and the worse stay I have ever had! I never give negative reviews but you asked. 7. I thought I was being too picky but I spoke with another guest and she was checking out to go to another hotel because it was such a disappointment.

Bed was comfortable, the remainder of the rooms and property need major upkeep.
- 1/5
It was not what I expected, room was small, and the toilet wasn’t steady, saw roaches, just not a great hotel.
- 4/5
We were there to see a band at the venue next door, so location was great. Restaurants within walking distance. Beach was easily accessible. Parking was a bit cramped, but we did get a spot. Hotel in need of some updates, but great location for our needs!
- 4/5
Stairs were not usable in the canter so the way its laid out you had to go all the way back to the front then up or down. Other than that, it was good
- 3/5
Bring service not going to door before checking out Don't like you I know too big

Now to the review: I personally do not like 2 things when i pay $300 for a single night at a hotel: 1: blood on my sheets 2: rude employees 1. We walked into a “clean room” and there was sand all over the floor and then we saw blood on the sheets. It looked old but was still pretty disgusting. 2. The employee who checked us in, they borderline forced us to buy the $20 per night parking and when we declined she said “good luck finding parking yourself, you’ll have to deal with that and pay the city”. We drive down a single block and found FREE parking… I hope people see this and don’t pay the hotel for parking if you are able walk about 3 minutes down the road. Now for the good: Location is prime. 1 min walk to the beach. The hotel has its own boardwalk. Has a free breakfast with a few options. The king with “partial view” is great for a couple.

Excellent location, with dining options nearby and a quick walk to the grocery store. Very typical Oceanside hotel.
- 4/5
Our room was close to the office and you could hear a lot of talking and foot traffic. There is only a blind in the room and not a curtain, so the exterior light made the room bright all night. The shower had low water pressure. This could be because of the shower wand. The tv was positioned in an odd place. It would have to be moved on the mount so you wouldn’t hit your head on it when coming out of the bathroom. You could not see the tv unless you were on your side in the bed. However, the proximity to the beach was great and the room was clean!!

Nice area.
- 3/5
Hotel was right at the beach so location was great. It was good that the rooms had tile flooring due to the sand proximity but I feel they could add some touches to help keep the floors clean during our stay, like adding a broom and dust pan. I would have liked to sweep the floor after we inadvertently tracked sand in, even after using the beach shower. Without it we were forced to lay towels on the floor to wipe our feet on before getting into bed.
- 3/5
Room clean, bathroom needs repairs, parking not so good.
- 3/5
Was not as advertised. Very dated, but the room was clean. Staff was friendly but we received no maid service. You have to pay extra for parking. Will not go back!
- 4/5
Our first room tv didnt work. Staff moved us immediately. AC was srugglimg and leaking. Not a bad time just a little on the costly side for what you get. Very small pool...would let that be a surprise to people and not list that as an amenity.
- 3/5
They charge for everything. Our room was ready we got there at 2 check in isn’t until 4 they said our room was ready but 100 to check in early. The room needed TLC paint chipping clogged toilet hair on the ceiling. You’re paying for the location but they need to step it up.
- 2/5
Lots of maintenance needs done. Dated and much more wear and tear to the rooms than the pictures show. House keeping was great however and kept everything clean. Location was very convenient. Walkable to all the amenities.
- 5/5
We loved being right in the beach, it doesn’t get much more convenient for an ocean lover. The rooms were nice over all. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were amazing! There isn’t much on sight parking so keep that in mind. There are only about 10 spots at the Inn. They have spill over parking not far from them but it’s a pain when you have to pack a lot of luggage. Over all our stay was amazing and we will definitely stay again!
- 3/5
The spot near the beach was great. There was just no parking!! Had to pay to park after spending alot for the hotel!! Finally was able to park at the hotel after a day of riding around waiting for someone to move!
- 5/5
Parking was an issue & I paid for a room with an oceanview but couldn't see the ocean. When we walked out onto the balcony area we were told by another guest it was only for the room that was closer to the balcony.
- 2/5
It is a good hotel for a couple of nights. It is right on the beach. Staff is nice. Building is old. It gets loud at night if there is a band playing next store.
- 5/5
Was a good stay. It does have a small breakfast. Pancakes and cereal. Place was clean. No hairdryer and no chair to sit on.

Picture showed us balcony facing beach with chairs nothing at all was what we booked. It was our anniversary night too .

Everything was great

Clean perfect location

Fully realizing that being on the beach comes at a premium, at $400 a night you would think that some great service and amenities would help us be forgiving of the towel bar falling out of the wall, no amenities except water and a couple bins of cereal, parking still charged. At that rate you would think they could at least update the facility. Don’t recommend.

Staff were nice and helpful.

Unfortunately, the property seems to need a good bit of maintenance.
- 5/5
I liked that there was unlimited free water bottles and extra towels were very easy to access. The pancakes at breakfast were delicious. Don’t bother with ‘partial ocean view’. Try for something on the 1st floor for best access to the ocean.

After a shower, there was water because of the curtain
