The Moran CITYCENTRE

Everything about this hotel was amazing. We didn't even have to drive anywhere because there was a lot of things was within walking distance. We will definitely stay there again.

The only issue I had was when I checked in the staff member was not overly friendly. He took my ID and gave me my room key. He didn’t tell me about the credit I had or any other amenities. Nice stayed here several times and have never had this type of experience.

The Boardroom was great The 2nd floor bar was very expensive and did not have our Dewars white label scotch. Must have been too lazy to walk down to the boardroom that had Dewars white label. Beds were a bit firm too

Overcharged me upon arrival and refuse to refund money. Very dificult to get assistance in billing matters.

I had to wait over 5 minutes to check in, the front desk person was nowhere to be found and everyone else just looked at me and never offered to find anyone to help. She finally came around the corner with a man and got me checked in but the keys she made didn’t work. It was a very frustrating way to start my stay.

Very relaxing place.

You cannot get the front desk on the phone during certain periods- at all. They charge your credit card hundreds in pending charges and only fix it when you call them to inquire. The rooms were clean and the beds and views were nice.

The hotel is centrally located in a shopping district and steps from many restaurants and theater. It definitely suited for a family with young children with a small playground to release some energy. Another great part of this hotel since its next to parking structure for all the amenities, there are ample parkings on the second and third floor, extra savings for the goodies. The only lesser part taken of this hotel was its age has definitely showed throughout. Overall, we had a great stay.

I found the hotel's location and amenities quite appealing, and the proximity to retail stores and restaurants, just a few minutes' walk away, was very convenient. The sole aspect that presented a challenge was the difficulty in contacting guest services via telephone. Aside from this minor inconvenience, our stay was highly satisfactory, and we anticipate returning.

The property was very accessible to everything around it and it was very beautiful on the inside. Only problem I had was hot water isnt as consistent like the bottom 7 levels. I was on 8 and it was sparatic on how long it lasted

The bathroom smells a bit off, and my room’s air conditioning isn’t quite cutting it for a comfy temperature. I’ve tried calling the front desk a few times, but it seems like I’m getting through to no one.

Better catch the hot water in the AM! 60% of the time there was only one person at the check in desk. Requests for housekeeping were not met. Stilk waiting on out $100/day incidental charge ($500) for credit.

Location I was billed for charges that I did not spend! I was told I would receive an invoice and never did. Customer service was no help. The front desk clerk did not email invoice as promised and now my credit card is being billed erroneous charges.

I enjoyed myself.

The restaurant staff and bar staff were both friendly, courteous and efficient. Moe at the valet stand offered to drive us to our destination and waited for our return to the hotel. He was fantastic. And we were courteous to him by getting in and out of the store quickly.

Rooms are always clean, staff friendly, my only complaint is the hot water didn’t get hot until it runs after 5 minutes or so. I called downstairs but I couldn’t get anyone. I let it run until I felt a slight temperature change. The water was only lukewarm. That was my only issue.

I got my bank account over drawn by 1034.00 dollars and it seems to not matter to the staff.i was on site calling from my room and they will not answer.went down to talk to them and was charged for advertised free breakfast.i was told I would get email from the hotel with confirmation my money would go back in my acct but until then I am racking up over draft fees!!there is a lack of communication between third party and the hotel.no hot water..

Amazing beautiful property but the valet is rude and not attentive. The front desk Caucasian men was not helpful. Apparently there was not any rooms available for early checking so check in was like 3p or 4p. I had a wedding to attend and the front desk stated I can just go to bathroom to change I wasn’t able to stay at the property due to the wedding ending late and having to catch my flight back home that morning 5am

Everything went really well except check-in. The front desk personnel need some polish. There were girls trying to look and act cute and who didn't emit professionalism. By contrast, Amparo who ran the breakfast area was a total pro, the bartender (woman with med. length hair -- can't recall the name) was also very helpful and pleasant. We were at the hotel for an on-time check in and were given a small room on the other side of the elevator shaft, which was noisy and not the JR Suite we booked. We requested a new room and were met by the manager who was courteous and helpful on our second trip to the check in desk and gave us some coupons for meals. Also, I was responsible for 75 nights (25 people checked in for 3 nights -- some staying longer for the bad weather) this past week by people who stayed at the hotel and it seemed that the hotel was disinterested in helping me or accommodating me when I sent an email two months prior to let them know that I had that many people coming exclusively to the Moran for a workshop I gave at a nearby office space. Thought you might want to know. The room was very nice, very clean and the housekeeping staff super sweet. The shower looked worse for wear, but overall I loved the renovation and my guests were very happy with their stays and the location. Your group representatives should seem more engaged and welcoming when approached about a group coming to stay.

Loved the room, the friendliness of the staff, the daily free infused water and coffee, bar staff was great, lots of surrounding options and vibrant atmosphere. Parking is also a plus. Front desk also gave us a complimentary bottle of wine! Breakfast was just decent. If they’re going to charge for it they should put a bit more effort into the flavor and hotness. Fruit and yogurt and other cold options were great. Room should come with shower cap but you probably have to request one from housekeeping or front desk which I didnt.

It was very beautiful and the staff were amazing You are located by many different restaurants and there is no microwave and when I asked for one it took 20 minutes to get one i didn’t quite understand that but then the walk to get to the room was a bit crazy considering the skywalk was closed.

I’m sooo upset tonight beyond angry, when we set up our reservation for New Year Eve/ New Year was with the intention to come a see fireworks and a celebration activity. I called to confirm that they would have something going on bc I was bring my special needs family paid extra to have the view almost 1k for NOTHING ACTIVITIES NOTHING FIREWORKS NOTHING NOTHING NADA…. If you want to do a celebration you have to pay an extra for end of the year celebration at the hotel we are a family of 6 there’s no way I can afford that. I already paid way more than what I should off. This year was a hard yr for us and I just wanted to go out and give my family some happiness for a harder year to come and this hotel has done us wrong I have failed to give my family anything. I’m so mad bc I called and confirmed, when I called the lady who answered the phone said there would be a celebration in the courtyard that is why we paid extra for the view. And when we arrived the gentleman said no there will be nothing going on , but you pay extra to go to hotel celebration. Please don’t come here where they twist the words to convince and is not worth money to be in your room frustrated with nothing to but watch tv bc there’s nothing open nor anything going on outside everyone is just playing soccer or walking around.

We live in Houston but we come and stay here because it is our place to just get away for a day or two. Looking forward to our next stay.

I loved the location and the aesthetic of the property! I didn’t like how the property did not have a microwave in the common areas but the staff was kind enough to locate one and bring it to the lobby for all to use!

The hotel was beautiful - the room was excellent, my view was beautiful, the bed super comfy! only issue, the outlet in the bathroom did not work. I had to blowdry my hair by the bar. The valet was amazing. He had my car heater on me warming my car up when I came down. Loved this property! t

We stayed on the 7th floor. The room, especially the bathroom, reeked of mildew. I don't expect it to smell like fresh flowers like you get at the Houstonian or St. Regis, but this was beyond. The bar soap was no better smelling. We checked in close to 11p, so we were too exhausted to do anything about it. We got up and checked out early without showering bc though it looked clean the smell was so very unappealing. I stayed here when it was the Sonesta and the rooms were lovely and on par for the price. Obviously new management has been running on the cheap. This was our anniversary night out and we were incredibly bummed by the accommodations. They only supplied one bottle of water, though I paid for a room for two. It's the little things that make a hotel stand out, so this experience was very disappointing. I would have saved my money and just gone home after our night out. Another issue was that only 2 of their 4 elevators were working, so there was a long wait to get up to our room. The staff was pleasant, so no issues with them.

I like using a key card to access the hotel floors. The $20.00 beverage/food allowance is appreciated. Room 1029...the hot water took forever, wasting tons of water in the shower and sink. Perhaps it needs to be checked out?

Our stay was fine. I wish the lady who checked us in would have offered us our wine instead I had to go and ask for it. Another issue was, my husband had a mysterious charge on his card. We were told we had a $20 credit to use at the bar or restaurant. So, I am not sure where the mystery charge came from.

I had to get up and locate our own silverware and ask for all of the condiments for our table. Other than that we had a great stay.

The property is well situated in The City Centre. The shops around offer a great variety for dining and entertainment.

The location of the hotel itself was very convenient. The room wasn’t cleaned properly. There was blood splattered on the wall in the bathroom.

My family has stayed at this location several times over the last 10+ years, including 3 times since it rebranded as the Moran. After moving to another nearby hotel for our frequent trips to Houston, we were optimistic that the renovation and new ownership would have a lasting impact. There were several service related hiccups during our most recent stay which I worry points to a larger trend. The front desk, who is the face of the hotel, was very un-accommodating and even said "that's not my department" when we asked when our room would be ready 2 HOURS after their posted check-in time (we had been waiting for over 4 hours at this point). We also had a gentleman knock on our door several times, with a do not disturb sign clearly visible on the handle, to "check the mini-bar" 2 hours after we arrived. The hotel also promotes a virtual text agent but never responds to it. Lastly, the pool was inaccessible on the morning of our check-out due to a baptism being performed in the pool by one of their large groups. Overall, the renovation is nice but the service is lacking. We gave the refreshed property a fair shot but will be moving back to the Hotel Zaza which I recommended to anyone wanting a hotel experience 4* level service in the area.

For those who enjoy eating breakfast at a hotel, the Moran Hotel has several healthy options to choose from. There's steel-cut oatmeal, Greek yogurt parfaits, and fresh fruit, to name a few.

Location is convenient within a shopping center making access to restaurants convenient. Parking is secure and provides easy walking distance to lobby through the garage. Rooms were clean and nice size. Feels modern.

Great option for my daughter and I because of the convenience to shopping and parking. I had to ask for my benefits this time, but they didn’t give me the $20 credit this time. And last time I was told I had a credit, but I was charged anyway. I requested a refund but never received it until i requested again on my next stay there.

We love staying at the Moran! It’s clean, they’re friendly, and it’s in the heart of shopping and dinning! I wouldn’t recommend eating dinner at the Moran. It wasn’t very fresh. Too many other options to settle.

Great location! Plenty of dining options within walking distance. Only complaint I have is that the breakfast offered at the hotel was pretty nasty. Other than that amazing bar in the center of the lobby, friendly staff, and each room came with a bottle of wine!

One of the more beautiful hotels I’ve stayed in! Don’t go hotel was not crowded. Easy access to park in garage restaurants theaters bars within walking distance of the hotel. Customer service was number one will definitely stay again. Would love to have a list of any other Moran hotels in the United States

It had been a few years since I stayed there but it was great just like it was when I first stayed there. Very nice hotel room with great access to everything.

Beautiful property!

The location was excellent, with plenty of dining and shopping options just steps away. A major plus was the free self -parking, which added convenience and saved on extra costs. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay and would gladly visit again.

I’ve stayed at the Moran several times over the past few years and love it. Great and central location on the west side of town.

Property was A+++ the bed was very comfortable! The view from our room was pretty awesome. The staff was very professional. Self parking was super easy. The valet guy when we got there was a bit rude so we self parked after the first day and it really was super easy and easily accessible. 1 persons attitude didn’t ruin our trip. Will definitely stay again

We were expecting The Moran to be more high-end. It is not, and we were disappointed. For the price, and based on the photos, I expected more. It is definitely no-frills. I guess you are paying for the hotel location in City Centre, which was nice to be able to walk to the restaurants and shops. The hotel pool has no bar/food service, and seemed pretty lame. We had drinks and dinner at the bar. The chicken fried steak was so chewy that we couldn't eat it, but the fried green tomatoes were good. Overall, I do not recommend this hotel. For the price, you're better staying elsewhere to have a more luxury experience.

10/10 highly recommended this hotel to everyone. Great staff and beautiful views from our room and the especially the pool! Free parking in the garage with plenty of spaces available. In house restaurant and full bar, we did not need to leave the hotel. Many restaurants and retail shops below the hotel, so convenient we did not need to drive anywhere our entire stay.

Worth every penny. Must comfortable bed, great staff, great locstion.

Between the aesthetics and the service, my family and I LOVE this hotel. Whether it is a leisure trip with family or a business trip, the service is consistent. The hotel is centrally located near eateries, shopping, and nightlife. This particular stay, we had a nail appointment, dinner, and then grabbed some dessert all within walking distance of the Moran. I highly recommend this hotel and its staff.
