Summit Inn - Houston Medical Center

While the staff were nice and the location was convenient, the motel has a serious cleanliness problem. Beds seemed slept in. The bathroom was moldy. When we asked housekeeping to change the sheets on the bed that was dirty (and never cleaned before our arrival), we found what seemed to be a crime scene. Someone had absolutely bleed to death and the hotel literally just put sheets on top of it and called it good enough. The mattress protector that was covered in a greasy blood didn't appear to have even been washed. I don't blame this entirely on housekeeping, this is the product of never investing in replacing things or or maintaining the property. I've stayed in nice places and crap places...Summit Inn is the bottom of the barrel. Suggest spending a little more and staying somewhere else.

This is my second time staying at this hotel. It’s definitely not a luxury or spa like resort. But it’s basic accommodations that are clean, easy location and plenty of free parking. Most notable, the staff is super nice and accommodating. They make you feel very welcome - like part of the family. A nice change from the corporate big chain places. If you’re looking for amenities like a spa. pool, room service…this may not be luxury vacation get away. However, If you need an economical place to lay your head where you’re greeted with a warm welcome and a quick check in, this place gets the job done just fine. I would stay here in a heartbeat again for the third time.

When we arrived the window on our room was wide open, no screen and smelled like something died in the room, looking at the bed, the linen was stained there was hair all over what I thought was clean sheets, when I pulled them back the mattress was so stained and nasty It looked like an animal had been sleeping on in it, your feet stuck to the floors as you walked, it appeared like the door had been kicked in, all and all worst room I have ever been in and I have traveled all over the United States for work, would not recommend anyone staying here, this place should be shut down. I did ask to get reimbursed they said they could for one night but still waiting for this credit.

I got to admit I wasn't expecting much for this price but after a 2 day stay we were very pleased with everything. Doesn't look fancy from outside but it was clean and staff was friendly. Convenient to hospital. Look forward to staying here next time.

Room is always clean, easy free parking, complimentary coffee and amenities, friendly staff and easy check in and checkout. Very convenient to the Medical Center and NRG. Gas stations, fast food restaurants and grocery store nearby.

My favorite budget motel to stay at when having to be near the Medical Center area. Staff is friendly, free parking, amenities and coffee provided, gas stations and fast food restaurants nearby.

I asked for an extra pillow and got it! That never happens at other hotels. Thank you so much for that. The bed was comfy and the room served all my purposes. The shampoo and conditioner smelled good; I forgot my products and was grateful to have them. The water was hard but I think that's just Houston!

The staff was very friendly and understanding. I had a room that my two little ones and I had to stay in where the air wasn’t working and refrigerator went out. We end up getting sick. Instead of them giving us another day free I end up having to pay for another room. I didn’t get a refund for the first room and I felt like the price was too high for it not to be a Marriott or even a motel six. I still have not received my refund back 200 deposit back either that I had to pay on arrival and for booking another room.

Property doesn’t look anything like the photos. A/C didn’t work, the room was dirty, the bathroom light switch was coming out of the wall and wiring was exposed. We didn’t feel comfortable staying and left.

Not one thing Pictures that was on there page was not updated. Everything was old Door has cracks in it . Curtains had holes in it moths had ate it. Birds out side or in wall was making noise all night but quiet in the morning. Did not sleep at all. Door has cracks around door needs to repair. Curtains had holes from moths eating it or just old . Birds outside on roof or in wall , made noise all night but not in the morning , it was quiet. Just it was not like the pictures that I booked the room .

Overall it was a good stay. I was worried about the price versus location. I’m not from Houston and I don’t know the areas. The staff was efficient and friendly. The room was clean but outdated. The grounds needed cleaned up. Overall the stay went well and the area was no concern. It was close to gas, food, and attractions.

The toilet flooded the bathroom when it was flushed. The outside trash cans never got emptied the whole time I was there. There was a loud disturbance from a guest that spilled outside.

The staff were nice, but the rooms could have been cleaner. There were some fruit flies in the room when I would eat food. The ac/heater smelled very dirty. The walls are very thin so you can hear the neighbors on either side. Honestly, it was very cheap, and you get what you pay for.

Mostly clean, drawers definitely could’ve been cleaned more but wasn’t a bother for me since I was only staying one night. Area itself was okay, not much to do in the immediate vicinity, and some of the other people staying there seemed a little off but that isn’t really the location’s fault!

It was better than I thought it would be but the cord from the tv couldnt reach the socket, a few of the socket covers were loose or hanging from the wall and the toilet seat was broken. Might've needed to sweep and mop also. Floors were kinda filthy. Other than that, it was fine. No bugs, the refrigerator worked and the a/c worked pretty good.

The property appears quite old but that wasn’t the issue for me. When I first stepped into the room, I was greeted by a faint smell of cigarette smoke, which was unpleasant at first but not unbearable. Upon initial inspection, I found several small brown stains on my bedsheet. I asked front desk if changing the sheets would be possible and they decided to change my room instead. Upon entering the second room, I was hit by the smell of mold along with the cigarette smell from before. Thankfully, I quickly got used to it and the smell only really bothered me every time I would step into the room after being away. The bedsheets in the new room were cleaner, but I still noticed a faint red stain. I decided to keep this room, however, as I figured they would all be slightly dirty in this way. However, multiple of the towels were visibly dirty and 2 of the 3 pillows provided had various debris and someone else’s hair stuck on them. Thankfully there was one pillow with only minor debris that I was able to use. The sheets smelled of course. The AC worked but was quite loud so it could be hard to sleep. Finally, the hair dryer plugged into the wall didn’t work (outlet’s fault I think), but admin was able to give me a different hairdryer which I could plug in somewhere else. Staff were really friendly and very helpful. Hotel is located close to a good variety of restaurants within 10 min drive in most directions. Also was within a 10 min drive of NRG stadium. Only down side is that it is located on a major road, which can have heavy traffic at times. This may make it difficult to drive around and get to various things depending on the time of day and other happenings in town. But Houston traffic is notoriously bad, so I just expected it and was pleasantly surprised when I was able to get around town relatively easily.

We actually left after we saw the door wouldn’t even close all the way and it was in a bad part of town. We went to stay at another hotel in a safer area that had doors that would close and lock.

Very convenient location with the freeway close by. Not far from NRG and the Medical Center. Shipleys donuts is across the street, Burger King, IHOP and H-E-B are in the area. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The inn was being repaired and the room was very dusty and the bed linens were dusty and gritty. The location was very good for the Medical Center and our cancer Dr.. Restaurants were close. Was glad to be able to find a place as their is a oil convention in Houston. Thankful

I had my concerns and originally, based on the area, thought the place was a bit sketchy. To my surprise, it was a great place to stay. Check in was a breeze. The room was clean. Parking was easy and lot was clean. At night it was quiet. No issues with people hanging out or vagrants wandering about. I would totally stay here again.

It is an older property located just off 288, you hear all the sirens. The room we were in had been recently renovated but not everything reconnected. The TV was not hooked to the satellite and the walls were not completely painted. The bed did have a comfortable mattress.

We got there at 315pm. sign in window said gone but back in 15 minutes. All locked up. No one came until 4:15 pm. so we just had to sit an hour and wait. called the number 4 times and no answer. We had gotten our food to eat in out room and it was cold before we got our key. Rooms furniture was outdated and paint chipped off. A huge metal thing in room against the wall that took up alot of space and obviously was just being stored there because there was no use for .. Nice size wood closet with shelves. When you got in out of bed there was a loud sound. But the bed was comfortable. Room was pretty clean but has spiders...The tv was large and good channels . got approached when unpacking car twice with people asking for money. . My husband did not want to stay because the room looked so bad and walked next door to Main Stay Hotel to get a room there. They were full so we had to stay at this place. Never stayed in a place that looks so horrible inside the room.It was a very bad experiance. We were pretty scared and hardly slept all night. Barbara Farrier [email protected] 361 758-2028

The woman confirmed that it was there but said they could not mail it to me. I explained that my daughter was to pick it up for me and was traveling quite the distance. I asked for the woman’s name so my daughter could ask for her directly. She refused to identify herself and hung up on me when I insisted. When my daughter arrived, they could not produce the shoe and were rude to her. She left empty handed, nothing to show for her time and effort. —-Still Upset

My stay was good, only 1 thing that sat things back a little was there was not one chair in the room. I use a chair to put my socks and shoes on. What hotel you know that don’t have a chair in the room, go figure!!

My stay was good, only 1 thing that sat things back a little was there was not one chair in the room. I use a chair to put my socks and shoes on. What hotel you know that don’t have a chair in the room, go figure!!

Clean room, cheap rates, mini-fridge and microwave The parking lot was well lit. Dim lighting in the room. Check your hot water as soon as you get there. We called the front desk the next morning to inquire about the lack of hot water and they said they would check on it and hung up. Never heard from them again. I guess the rates are cheap because you don’t get hot water! All-in-all, it was fine. Just check to make sure everything works. Don’t wait until the morning.

The property is convenient, has a semi spacious bathroom, towels are provided, workspace area included in hotel, T.V, and microwave. Minor roach visibility on property, so keep items off the ground.

For the price is a good place. 5 mins from the medical area.

Nicely kept property, busy area. Quiet though close to busy roads, close to Medical area and good dining options, would stay again if back in this area

Other than that? With this price point this close to downtown? No complaints. Wasn’t expecting a fancy luxurious room and got a reliable and comfortable space.

The lady at the front desk is rude, no common courtesy. I stayed here frequently. Spent much money at this location, yet treated me nothing more than a wallet amount. All of the other staff are awesome, from the men at the desk who always goes over and beyond, to the housekeepers. The lady however, is very discourteous, doesn't understand customer service.

Not that much unique about the property. It's located close to Central Houston which can be good for business travelers. Not close to food - but does not have to be an issue. Watch out for Houston drivers.

I liked that it was close to the hospital, the price was very reasonable, and I felt secure. I didn't like that there was mold in the shower, which could be rid of with alittle Clorox

The price I paid is worth it. It was quiet during the weeknights I stayed. Bathroom is clean. The shower jets feel so relaxing. My only complaint is a missing security latch lock and/or “do not disturb” signs so that staff cleaners cannot get in when you’re inside.

The manager was very polite and kind. My first room the A/C wasnt working and he Immediately.Change me to another. In that room the remote control need batteries.He replaced the batteries for me also. The room was real clean and very, very nice room and at all. The amenities, including good soap. Good shampoo, great water pressure. The bed was extremely comfortable. It's very quiet.

It is exactly what you would/should expect from a low cost motel. A bit old, rundown, could use some TLC here and there. HOWEVER.... the bed was comfy, the linens were clean, good TV selection, and the toilet was clean. Would I stay here with my wife, NO. but for a quick, cheap, overnight place close to the medical center for me. Perfect. I might stay here again should the need arise.
