Magnolia Hotel Houston, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel

We had a great experience at the Magnolia. The only thing was that there wasn’t an ice machine on every floor .

This hotel is nice and the rooms are clean and spacious. For the money and location, it is overall a decent hotel. Main drawbacks are the lack of self-serve parking which requires you to pay the 54$ a day valet fee or brave the second drawback: the homeless people living right outside of the hotel. They were everywhere on the block of the hotel, including one next to the doors and one had even out a curtain up against the service door of the hotel to sleep. We understand that the world is full of these kind of problems but staying at a hotel surrounded by obvious dr*g use and homelessness was obviously less than ideal and put a damper on our stay. This is a hotel that has all the average amenities that the majority of hotels have nowadays: fitness center, pool, bar, breakfast (not included in the cost of the room and no option to do that) so it seemed to us to not really be worth the trouble of worrying whether we were going to get from the hotel to our car and back safely or that our car would get broken into overnight.

Breakfast the second day was excellent on the third day it was poor had to wait 40 minutes to get plates for breakfast buffet and coffee and I had to go ask someone to assist. There was no fresh fruit. Valet service was excellent.

Great view from the pool deck, room was clean and quiet, great location a short walk to Daikin park. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great value for the price. Definitely staying here again.

I love this hotel. It's lovely and well priced. My only complaint is the AC is so loud - but otherwise love it.

The staff was exceptionally helpful throughout our stay. Check-in and check-out were both quick and hassle-free, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. The valet attendants were polite, professional, and very efficient—they had our vehicle ready promptly whenever we needed it. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which offered a good variety of options and was a great way to start the day. Overall, the Magnolia Hotel provided excellent service, a comfortable stay, and a convenient downtown location. We would definitely stay here again.

The TV in my room didn't work, and the Maintenance person went above and beyond to make sure the TV worked.

The building is not well maintained. They still have the original single pane windows that open, which seems like a tremendous safety hazard not to mention they make it really hot. Our window on the 12th floor was broken and “fixed” with tape. The first room had a broken a/c so we got a new room with a broken window and stained carpet. The whole building smells musty, moldy and gross. Tons of dings and scratches all over walls and even ceilings???? How does that happen? I called the number to the restaurant and was transferred FOUR times before someone would take my order. Anyhow, food was decent and staff was nice but the facility itself needs better upkeep.

Additionally, I was not informed that a prom event would be taking place the evening of my arrival. The event significantly impacted the atmosphere and guest experience, including changes to the restaurant service. Instead of the expected dining experience, the restaurant was relocated to another space that felt more like a pickup area than a proper restaurant setting. Had these conditions been communicated in advance, I would have had the opportunity to make a more informed decision regarding my accommodations.

Do not stay here. The photos are catfish and the reviews myst be paid because it was dirty, smelly, and not to the standard they claimed. I will never stay here again. This hotel was awful!

Room was not what was expected. Pictures on website were misleading. The handicap shower was ok, but the water poured on to the tile floor making it very slippery. Staff was not knowledge on shuttle times

I was extremely impressed with the staff and the cleanliness of the Magnolia. The customer service was exceptional and it was the first time in a while where “extras” are included in the stay. They had a shuttle that was always available when I needed it, breakfast was provided and it was a lovely restaurant dining experience. They offered complimentary water and coffee in the lobby, as well as complimentary water bottles in the rooms. The cleaning service was great. The entire staff was friendly and responsive. I will definitely stay there again.

There are elevator delays as the elevators are old and slow and not sufficient for the size of the hotel. Ours were not working most of the time we were there for a wedding. the stairways were dirty and smelly and even the hallways in the hotel had a bad smell.

The food menus were lacking in variety and appeal. The pozole I ordered consisted of only broth, dried out meat and garbanzo beans- it was tasteless. I was expecting more Texas or southern dishes to be offered. There was no option for decaffeinated coffee anywhere in the hotel, except the in-room coffee. For the price, the hotel turned out to be a disappointment.

The location to the Daikin Stadium was great; very clean and comfortable. One of the elevators was not working and there were a lot of guest this week. The wait for an elevator was extremely long at times and we ended up taking the stairs several times.

I was a little hesitant in booking this hotel but I'm glad that I did. We enjoyed our stay. This old gem is located near alot of things in Htown. We appreciated the free shuttle within 1mile radius which saves on Uber.. We did decide to park in the garage across for $20 but no in/out versus valet. The other great thing there is the 2nd floor restaurant/ bar, The Dispatch...The bartender,Ty, was great, attentive and very nice..along with her manager (K?, can't remember his name) but the drinks and food was good...Overall, from checking in (even the valet guys) to checking out was great!!! We will be back.

The room was cleaned, spacious, and comfortable. The front desk young lady was nice and friendly, as well as the vallet. The restaurant was opened late and the food was good too, despite the automatic 18% gratuity. I would stay here again.

From the beginning of my stay all the way to the end was perfect. The staff were phenomenal; from the man at the valet greeting me with a smile and warm embrace, to the desk receptionist being generous and bubbly, to even the waitress and cook being very nice and understanding. Overall, I would go back again because even the room was chefs kiss!!

We were not able to check in at 4 pm. The staff said it would take up to an hour to clean the room. They told us they would text us when the room was ready and they never did. We had to go back to the front desk and were then told that the room had been ready. After we checked into the room, the bathtub had hair in it and did not appear to have been clean. As for toiletries, the only think in the room was a bar of soap and hand lotion. Disappointing for a Marriot property

This is a beautiful property with proximity to much of downtown "life". Their staff, and especially, valet staff, were incredible (thank you, Nico and Jaden)! Rooms were very clean, and we will definitely be back again

Good location, spacious room with a good View.. staff was friendly especially the valet service.... There were things that wasn't available in the room, you have a full kitchenette no utensils... in the bathroom the shower curtain look like it had been pulled down and just placed back and the tub drain did not work... also my booking said that breakfast was included only for me to find out that it wasn't once we got there... one of the friendly staff members did provide us with a voucher but the booking shouldn't say breakfast included if that isn't the case...

I guess if you want to prepare or heat any food you have to request dishes and silverware, etc. The room was missing the tv remote so we requested one and some extra hangers and a robe. It never came. We requested to use the shuttle and the driver was on break so the front desk was supposed to text me when he returned. Never did. So other than bad customer service the stay was good. The bar restaurant service was very good. The food was basic and just ok. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. Prices were good on food and drinks.

I didn't love that we weren't told about the limited breakfast service. I understand that it was Thanksgiving day, but we purchased the tickets expecting a buffet but only had 2 choices for breakfast instead. I wish we had known in advance.

Our first time in Houston and wanted somewhere central to make walking around the are easier. The staff are great, the room is huge and the views from the rooftop pool are amazing. We found it was easy walking distance to a number of bars and restaurants plus the theatre district is very close. If I’m back in Houston I will definitely stay here again.

The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It was very clean and smelled nice. The valet service team was awesome! We had a queen double bed room. The room was appointed well and was spacious. The beds were comfortable, pillows were soft, the bathroom was roomy and I liked that the shower and toilet were separated from the bathroom sink space. We tried to use the hot tub but it was closed for maintenance. The gym was well equipped. The bar on the second floor was nice, and the staff made one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had.

The only area for improvement was the valet service. While the staff was courteous and professional, the vehicle retrieval process was consistently slow. On multiple occasions, we requested our car in advance but still experienced wait times of 15 minutes or more. Overall, this was a very positive experience, and I would definitely stay here again.

Great Southern Hospitality from the moment of check in at the front desk to the time I checked out. Beautiful place with clean rooms and hallways. It may seem like a small thing, but when you’re paying the prices this hotel charges. Especially when they nickel and dime you for everything, a working TV remote shouldn’t be too much to ask. We also ordered room service, and while the man who delivered it was very kind, the food itself was extremely mediocre and wildly overpriced. The biggest disappointment, though, was the service downstairs. Aside from the younger woman who helped us check out this afternoon (she was great), most of the staff were rude, dismissive, and acted incredibly pretentious. Definitely not the standard of hospitality you’d expect, especially coming home as a Houston native. They could really benefit from better customer service training. This is definitely an example of a catfish hotel. The lobby and communal areas are modern and recently remodeled but the rooms give more of an old hotel/motel vibe. Very dingy, poor lighting, just the feeling of being old and lived in. Stains on the walls, discolored toilet seats.

We sleep cold, and forgot our fan at home, they did not have one to offer. The AC decided at 10pm to get a little warm and stayed that way for quite a few hours. If that would not have been an issue I would have definitely given 5 stars. The hotel is unique, Clean, charming, and worth staying at.

Will and the front desk staff are amazing. Peaches in the restaurant is also great, unfortunately a housekeeper took a few things from my room. Overall great hotel and some bad apples on the staff.

This was so relaxing for a solo trip. Loved the live band on Saturday, everyone was so nice and accommodating. Definitely good vibes!

The only complaint we had was our AC was not functioning the best, however, it was July in Houston...lol

The hotel itself was great. Unfortunately there was construction going on and the flashing police car lights kept me up all night along with occasional sirens and loud equipment

Incredible value! Clean and tidy hotel with a great vibe, and the price can't be beat. Room was somewhat small, but the bathroom was spacious. Location was perfect - close to what we were doing on Texas St. in Downtown Houston. It was all we needed for a quick overnight in Houston!

Property staff was beyond rude for a Monday morning. Not cooperating with the only plan I had to see the sunrise at the rooftop pool. It was suppose to be open at 7 by someone. Front desk didn’t bother to reach out to the person and said it was because the building is old. The one thing I wanted to do

The hotel is excellent if you’re staying downtown because there’s easy access for walking to multiple places, including restaurants, the courthouse and other activities in downtown Houston. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the dining and bar are really good. It is also a great place to have an event or wedding.There is valet on property at about $54 per night or $20 for the day but there’s street parking across the street as well. I parked at the street parking every day except for Sunday because the church across the street. Has it blocked off in the morning for church. 10/10 high recommend

I had an amazing view of the art work painted on several building from the 14th floor. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was really impressed that the young lady who checked me in and out remembered to call me by my husband's last name as I am widowed and he had no children.

This was am excellent location! I walked to the Hobby Center and to the Discovery Garden for the SSF25 without any problems. The view from the room was even better. All of which waa made possible by Maddy and Brooke at the front desk. I had breakfast with great service from Tawande and his staff, and ask for Victor (concierge). He was full of information and a delight to talk to. At this time, there were a couple of wedding parties and other group celebrations, but it was so well managed. The king bed is super comfortable and the TV was sports fan appropriate size. Highly recommend this hotel. Will definitely make this a frequent / regular stay.

Loved the location and vibe ( College Football fans, Wedding guests ect ) and being engulfed in downtown area between buildings. Definitely will be back with family to likely take in an Astros game. Complementary coffee was very good and staff worked hard to keep lobby and floors clean .Would highly recommended to anyone visiting Houston !

From start to finish everyone was exceptional. The room was great, the only issue I had was the a/c vent was placed in an area you couldn’t feel any airflow when in bed. Thankfully I travel with a portable fan. Please look into better vent airflow.

Due to a “booking error,” my room was given away to someone else. The hotel bought me a room at a hotel next door. Very disappointing. It looked like a nice property.

The staff was very attentive to our needs for a wheelchair accessible, walk-in shower room. They really accommodated us throughout out time there. We will definitely book a stay upon our return to Houston!

Our experience at The Magnolia Houston was Fantastic! Dawan was a life saver by helping us get two connecting rooms and a rollaway. I booked the wrong space by accident but he was able to make adjustments to accommodate us.Moreover, there is a shuttle directly to events in the immediate 1 mile area. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the server (Robert, Specifically, was excellent!

Everything was great. Only inconvenience we had was their elevators. One time we had to wait over 5+ mins to get on.

Hotel is nice, ice machine not working & had to go 3 floors down to find one. Bathtub doesn’t hold water, slowly drains, AC didn’t work very well…other than those issues (which could have been just an off weekend or bad room) hotel is nice. Staff is friendly, Valet guys are on point and very respectful and diligent. Bar is kinda small, went to check it out and it was packed.

When we got to our room, it would not cool past 75 degrees and it felt so hot. We called and an engineer came to our room almost immediately. He checked the AC and he wasnt able to fix it right away so they gave us a new room, dropped off a luggage cart, and the key to our room so we didnt have to go down. The new room was beautiful, cool, and had a great view. Breakfast was good as well!

Great spot for my business visit to Houston.

My stay at the Magnolia was great! The staff were welcoming and helpful. The Magnolia was very clean and elegant. The room was as pictured. The pool and other amenities were also great. The location of the Magnolia is a perfect spot to walk to all the tourist locations Downtown Houston has to offer. And if you’re unable to walk the Magnolia offers a free shuttle to the destinations within a 1 mile radius. We had an amazing time with the Magnolia and would stay there again.

Ideal for downtown midtown and uptown mingling...

The rooms were clean and staff was great. The room I was in appeared to have the door locked in (or someone tried to kick it in), as it was bent, causing light to come into the room at night. Aside from that, it was a good setup. Would definitely stay here again.

Poor location, lots of homeless people high on drugs within vicinity of hotel, not pleasant for children to see, I’m aware the hotel has no control of this. I had bad stomach after eating fruit at breakfast buffet, ended up in bed for 3 days, Hotel claimed did full kitchen inspection after reporting but did not accept liability.

We did not have a microwave nor a refrigerator in our room. I have never been without these two ever .This was the first time that I have experienced this. We were very disappointed. I checked around and saw that some rooms had one or the other. Some had both. I will now make it a point to ask before we finalize any future trips.

The Magnolia is a convenient option for a downtown stay. We've stayed here many times and always consistent. A good option if you're going to an Astros game since it's within walking distance to Daikin Park.

The frustration Sunday of only one working elevator and waiting 10+ minutes before walking down the stairs 6 floors with suitcases was a topper to our visit. Get your elevators working and train your staff. 3 out of 10 stars

Our room 1501 was a little warm for us. The ac couldnt keep up i believe. It wasnt anything that we couldnt deal with and didnt want to make it an issue.

Hotel was nice. Staff was friendly. Bathroom was large and the shower worked well. I was studying for an exam and there is plenty of space on the property to do that.

A beautiful boutique style hotel located in downtown. Great dining options both in the hotel and around the area. Parking garage adjacent was also helpful. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. In the bar area there is also a pool table off to the side and it’s free to use. Overall would stay again without question.

Brooke was phenomenal! Her customer service is top notch! I was appreciative and humbled by how kind and professional she was. It’s a rarity these days. She made my stay at Magnolia a very pleasant experience. The district restaurant was good too. They were quite personable and the breakfast was delicious! Good customer service at the District. And lastly, the milk and cookies! 🍪 Yummy!!! Need I say more!

The hotel was beautiful

The rooftop pool was not in excellent condition but was still nice. The faucet on our bathroom tub was in disrepair but the shower was good. There was a broke. Soap dispenser in the dining room bathroom. But overall the hotel was very nice. There just needs to be some attention to detail to be considered such high caliber.

We have stayed at several downtown hotels and Magnolia hotel is now our favorite! It was an easy walk to Daikin Park, the staff (especially the breakfast staff) were incredibly friendly, and our room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back!

I recently stayed at this hotel only for one night, after going on my credit card statement I was charged an extra 100$ for no reason nor was I aware of this charge. Tried calling the hotel & got told I would get a call back but of course no call.

The property was in the middle of everything I was attending which was great. Parking was great. When you get off the elevator down the hall it smelled like urine!! My room was very spacious but wasn’t cleaned properly and had a very strange red stain by the entry way!!
