The Hotel Hollywood

Receptionist at check in does not belong in a customer facing role. Guy responded to questions in a “Lurch Like” cadence. Hotel room had an overwhelming odor of some kind of air freshener that my wife tried to disable to no avail by unplugging the unit from the outlet. Spent a relatively sleepless night due the most uncomfortable mattress we’ve ever experienced. Booked the room as we were attending a Hollywood Bowl concert that evening and did not want to drive home to Ontario. Big mistake.

Small rooms but had all we needed. Walking distance to places we wanted to see was a plus. Eating places close by

The room was clean and is near the Hollywood Bowl for concert goers. I called the hotel twice and left messages both times but did not get a call back.

The hotel was very well located, close to all the main attractions. The room was spacious and comfortable, and Louis who works there, was very nice, friendly, and helpful. N/a

There is no on site parking, if you’re lucky you might get a metered street spot. Or you get to park about a block away and get to walk through the getto with homeless people everywhere. It’s LA, I didn’t expect anything different actually. All stairs no elevator inside. Cost more than it’s worth. Building is about 3 feet from the one next door so if you wanna open you room shades. Be dressed!! They have windows also. You can share coffee with the neighbors! I waved hi to the neighbor while I was sitting on the toilet with the bathroom window open. That was funny, I didn’t mind that one but you might. First time I’ve been to LA/Hollyweird in a long time. Now I remember why. It truly is a poop hole of a city!! Due to its installed leaders !!!

Great location, great value for the Hollywood area. The downside was having to pay for parking everywhere you went.

Only thing good about his property was the location Staff were unprofessional, only had one reliable staff member who checked us in. The rest had no idea. You will not receive your deposit back please note that, and be prepared to see dirty blankets on a freshly made bed. I suggest taking photos of everything upon entering your room, they’ll pin everything on you if you decide to stay here. Further issues is the mattress was ordinary and you can here people walking upstairs all night through hallway or room above you. Please also note that there is no elevator, and you have to drag your luggage upstairs. There is no communication between staff, we booked an additional night due to a late flight and early check out and confirmed this with one of the receptionist, We returned to the hotel after a morning out to find our luggage shoved together in the lobby without any notice (Lucky nothing was missing). Good luck trying to get your sheets and blankets changed as when your ask house cleaning there is a language barrier and this never gets completed. I would suggest booking something a little bit more expensive or rated especially if you’re travelling from overseas as I did. As mentioned only good thing this place has is location

To my surprise the left the wrong key, they gave us the key to a room that was already occupied and had a very unpleasant moment walking into the room and two other guests there sleeping.

The common areas had an unusual odor and the elevator was not working which is bad for accessibility. It's a room to sleep but really not much else to say. Not great by any means.

the staff was friendly, option to leave my luggage for free after check-out was nice the area of the hotel felt unsafe, the hotel room had no cleaning service, no coffee/tea machine available, and the toilet got stuck halfway through the stay. Reception was closed after 6pm so without the passkey it was impossible to access the hotel. The receptionist told me that the story about Marilyn Monroe ever stepping a foot in this hotel was never checked and it is a myth.

It’s one of the quietest properties I’ve been too in Hollywood, which is pleasant if you enjoy going out to see it all and be amidst it all, but have peace at bedtime. No elevator is an extraordinary challenge if you are arriving with standard luggage.

How close it was to universal and some food places. That’s it. Everything. There is no parking available. They claim they have a third party parking area but it’s no longer there and all parking is either meters or $30+ a night. They stated to me in the phone they could put my 2 reservations together so we stay in one room, that was a lie. So we checked in for 1 day to have to check out and re check into a different room the next day and had to pay 2 $100 deposits cause of it, even though they stated we wouldn’t have to pay it again. The second room was a downgrade from the previous. The bed was broken and tv didn’t have the same capabilities as the first room. I do not recommend this place.

Second time we have stayed. The rooms are great and staff pleasant to chat with. Close to the metro and Hollywood Blvd.

Nothing Paid parking, $30 a day and its 3 blocks away. Can only park once because if you drive out of the lot you have to pay the $30 again for the same day! No street parking as claimed because you need to move it every morning by 8am or its towed! Claims to have microwaves... nope!

This hotel is a great little escape when you’re going to the theater and you don’t want to sit in traffic after the show. It was just the right amount of close to perfect. If it had a microwave it would be perfect!

The only reason I’m giving them a 5 is because the staff was really welcoming and helpful. Specially Andres. Since the first day we got there. I would do a 4 or 3 because there’s no parking. The parking is one block down and it’s $30/24 hours and they only offer water as an amenity. The location was great, close to different things. Universal Studios was just a 10 minute drive.

Good people. Super quiet property for in the middle of Hollywood. I felt like the room I was in may had improper pressurization making it feel wet - could be my own body too, or both.

No breakfast, clean installations, nice staff, the room was very good for sleep. The location was good with several stores around. Near to the Walk of Fame and several places to dinner. Recommended place! No elevator, we don't need it but keep that in mind.

The location was great, the bed comfortable and the space adequate. I was able to do laundry, which I especially appreciated because I travel light. Any time I had a question or a problem, the staff was quick to help. I asked for room service only once since I was alone and spent most of my time out of the room, but while the bed was made and the towels were changed, the sink and shower weren't cleaned. A microwave would also be great to have in the room.

I couldn’t properly sleep at night due to cars driving fast outside or the upstairs guests walking around. It sounded like they were stomping on the floor but I’m sure it was due to the outdated flooring. Do not expect daily housekeeping for those who want the preference. There were a few strands of hair on them that seemed to have hung on through washing because of how worn the sheets were. Also the battery had been removed from the smoke detector. That was obvious because the cover for that was open. Other than that, the bed was very comfortable and we slept well. We overall enjoyed our stay!

Staff were nice. The front door requires password entry after hours, and the password will be shared during check-in. I like it since there could be some suspicious ppl hanging around the street. Parking was $30 and a block away in a dark alley in a wide open lot in a very sketchy area of Las Angelas. We put in Santa Monica for hotels and was surprised it was in down town LA. The staff was amazing though. Very understanding when we did not stay. Not comfortable leaving our car with all our souvenirs in a place like that overnight.

It was accessible from LAX by public transport plus a 10 minutes walk and on a busy Thursday evening I was at my hotel nearly 2 hours before my friends who had a chauffer driven limo arranged. All of the staff that I dealt with were excellent, responsive and very willing to help where necessary. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable, the bathroom and shower worked well. I have stayed in far more pretentious upmarket hotels over the years that just did come up to the customer service culture or downright friendliness of this place. The view from the room wasn't great but I came to sleep, not look out the window. My biggest recommendation would be that if I came back I would certainly look at this place first and I would probably also try to treat myself to one of the full kitchenette apartment rooms instead of the perfectly serviceable standard rooms that I had this time. Having a fridge was great, the room had aircon/heating.

There was also a gnat issue in my room. The place wasn't filthy, but it didn't feel clean. I had a window looking out into a bunch of garbage. The restroom windows didn't lock so if someone wanted to climb through they could. The day we left the shower handle snapped off. We weren't able to finish cleaning. This hotel is more of a motel with a high price tag.

Rooms were very clean and staff was friendly. CVS around the corner, and bus stops were down the block to access the rest of Hollywood. Location is close to Hollywood Bowl and a short drive to Universal Studios. No elevator was a small downside.

Great location to Hollywood blvd and other popular attractions in LA. This hotel is perfect if you’re not going to be inside , there is no amenities or microwave , it’s a good hotel for someone like me who was just in and out and being a tourist .

L We stayed here because we were going to an event at the Hollywood Bowl and wanted to stay close enough to walk. This is a no frills hotel – no elevator (no problem since we were on the second floor) and no parking (we had no trouble finding street parking). We weren’t looking for luxury, we wanted convenience and this property fit the bill.

Hotel Hollywood is a flashback to the Marilyn Monroe and rat pack very clean comfortable and if you like those sort of things it's perfect if you're looking for some fancy schmancy this is not the place for you

The hotel is not in a great area; however, it was secured and I felt safe. Not anyone could enter the building. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was no microwave in the room. My room was emaciate! Cons: No on-site parking or validation avaliable. This was my second time staying at The Hotel Hollywood, and it was just as great as the first. The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. The vibe of the hotel is really nice, and the outdoor patio is an awesome spot to just chill and relax

The staff were amazingly helpful and the property location is perfect for a few days in Hollywood and walking distance to hollywood blvd and market for supplies.

I was given a room that was just remodeled. My first impression was This is very nice and cozy. The room was a perfect size for me. I just love that the staff upon my arrival and departure was always friendly and welcoming. I will return again. The hotel is area close to everything.

This hotel offers excellent value for the price. The staff were outstanding, and the queen room was quite comfortable. The only downside was some noise throughout the day. Overall, my experience was very positive, and I plan to return soon.

Andreas worked the front desk and he was very informative and he was very, very good at his job

For one night in Hollywood, It has all the basics you need if you don’t want to take Ubers etc. around town. Easy walking distance to the walk of fame, etc. Only negative is there’s no coffee available and the walls are really thin so you can hear everyone in the hallway.

Andreas was more than hospitable. He offered his parking spot as well as a room on the street side of the hotel. I’ll continue to come back.

I found the room was comfortable the bed especially.The bathroom had a light in the shower which was a nice surprise.Also plenty of towells and toilet paper.Also the shower tap was easy to use. I will be back!

The property was nostalgic. And well kept. Check in was on point to my needs.

This hotel will keep your deposit and then accuse you of damaging sheets and towels. Based on other published reviews, this has happened for years. The owner must make a living stealing from their guests. This hotel is a disgrace along with its employees. Book else where!

Great place to stay at the heart of Hollywood for the price. Very clean with great staff.Walk to all the fun places. If they add coffee in the morning as they did before it would be a lot more desirable.

My room was super clean, guests were quiet, front desk staff was very friendly too. The water dispenser in the lobby was such a nice perk as well as the in room mini fridge. I’d stay here again if I travel to Hollywood in the future.

Friendly staff and near Hollywood Walk of Fame, restaurants, coffee shops and in a safe neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again if in LA in the future.

Historic property right in the heart of Hollywood

Enjoyed our stay there. The staff was extremely friendly from the moment we got there and even after we checked out. They gladly held our bags while we went sightseeing before we left. I would recommend this hotel.

Sweet staff, clean small room. Hotel is a bit dated but conveniently located within walking distance from Hollywood Bowl. You can walk back after concert instead of waiting for uber in line for longer. Mattress was comfortable and it wasn’t noisy at night for good sleep. Plenty of dining and coffee options within 10-15 min walk.

The desk clerk named Grise is so kind and helpfull. She gave me the Legendary Marilyn Monroe room 306. Very nice room, comfortable bed, super clean and enjoyable. She also recommended a great restaurant and provided needed parking information. Thank you so much for everything. This is a wonderful classic hotel experience!

The property was quaint and the staff friendly. Close to transportation and food. The only drawback was there was no microwave or ice machine.

The hotel doesn’t have parking, you have to park on the street and go pay for parking meter every 2 hours.

Really lovely staff! So accommodating and was super easy to check in and out.

Liked that they had a smoking area. Room was clean and plenty of space. Did not have to have room cleaned everyday so you could take your time in the morning.

The hotel itself was nice, but Hollywood itself is kind of dirty. There’s no parking so you have to park around the corner and pay for overnight parking which is about $30 a night.

This wasn't the most glamorous hotel, but it was clean and nice. We chose the hotel because it was close to Universal Studios, and were pleasantly surprised to see how close we were to the stars walk and Chinese Theater

Room and location were excellent! Although they do not have parking on the property, I was able to park on the street directly across from the hotel! This is the "goto" hotel if you are attending a play at the Pantages

I had to call police because there was a drunk guy punching and yelling at the door next to mine all night long. There was nobody picking up the phone at the hotel. I couldn’t sleep at all. When I told them the next morning their answer was: oh yes, we are aware they were drunk. And that was all…

Needed a couple of rooms for a family lodging need near the Hollywood Bowl. Convenient location to the Bowl and other Hollywood sites.

Very conveniently located to Hollywood. Andres was very welcoming. While the streets in Hollywood could be cleaner, this is no fault of the hotel’s.

Had to switch rooms twice!!! because of inoperative air conditioning that is old and outdated and extreme smell of disinfectant that was making me ill!

Was good hotel for what I needed it for. 15 mins walk to main downtown Hollywood area, easy access to bus and metro. Hotel was clean.

Not the most luxurious property in the Hollywood area, but definitely a great budget hotel option.

Very quite room. Very simple. My only complaint would be the broken blinds in the restroom. I didn't feel comfortable taking a shower knowing the man sitting the patio area could see me. I walked down to Hollywood Blvd. There were a few places to eat across the street. I used the meter parking. Otherwise, there's parking around the corner.

But the cleanliness was the biggest disappointment. No room service was provided to us (7 night stay) unless we asked. This included fixing the bed, vacuuming the carpets, and providing fresh towels. We had to ask TWICE for new towels, and one time we returned to the room to find they were not delivered. Had to bring soiled towels downstairs myself. Not sure what the official cleaning schedule is, but in our 7 nights here no one entered to clean ONCE.

Fantastic location, unfortunately that's the best thing about it. Not very safe nearby, not walkable. Noisy and very thin walls. I could see light through the crack in the door and bigger than average gap under the door. The thankfully held my luggage but didn't offer water. Decent place, very average. Nothing special. Wouldn't choose this place again.

It's a small quaint hotel. Prefect for us. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and the water pressure was just right. Loved it!

Outside of the parking situation, this is a great spot. Friendly staff, small but tidy room with a safe. Walkable to the Hollywood Bowl and many other places. The suggested parking lot was full and I lucked out with a metered spot, but that's an inconvenience for sure if you're bringing a car.

I loved everything about this Hotel starting with the staff who were outstanding.

The area around the hotel is a bit sketchy (as is a lot of Hollywood Blvd to be honest) so I did subtract a star for that. It's not the Hotel's fault, but as a guest, you do need to be aware. I would recommend this as a place for younger couples/individuals, not so much for older folks. Bonus, The Scum and Villainy Cantina is a block away and a great Star Wars Cantina themed bar to knock down some of Aunt Beru's famous Blue Milk.

This is a very basic property. Few amenities and services. Yet, for our purposes it was fine. Very convenient location to walk to Hollywood bars, restaurants, and attractions. Front desk staff were helpful and pleasant. We did have a first floor accessible room which was by the front door and stairs. There is no elevator. Thus, not unexpectedly, there was a higher noise level than would be expected in other rooms. The morning after our first night there seemed to be a “domestic disturbance” in the room above ours which was loud. However, the occupants vacated the property before the need to engage staff to quell the situation. Given the earlier experience with the staff, I am confident they would have handled it well.
