The Henderson

So much character and helpful, engaging hosts and staff!

This was our first time staying at the Henderson Inn, but it won't be our last. The location gives easy access to the downtown area shops, restaurants and activities. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing. It's an older building so there are some nuances that come with that but nothing that would keep us from going back.

Old movie posters were displayed in the halls. Breakfast was excellent and the proprietors were great.

Do not recommend for people with cat allergies or aversions as cats are given free range of the outdoor area, porch and downstairs. Should we stay again we will request a room on the back side of the house and see if that's more suitable. Still, we give it four stars overall for the cleanliness and convenient location to main street activities.

The hotel is historic, cozy, well maintained. The location is great, walking distance to shops and restaurants. The owners were delightful, easy to talk with, helpful. Michael, the chef, is amazing! Creative. The breakfasts and dinners were scrumptious and beautifully presented. You'll be glad you stayed and ate here.

The couple who own it were exceptionally welcoming. One short block puts you in the center of everything. The property is over 100 years old. The creaking floor boards and stairs took us back to another time. The decor(ations) are impossible to walk by without stopping to look at. Especially the photos/posters. The price is excellent! Yes, our room was small but you can upgrade. We still had plenty of room. The owner is an accomplished chef and the restaurant on site is top quality. The cocktail hour is pleasant in the cozy living room areas. I would describe the property as more bohemian than elegant. Definitely shows it's age, but that's what gives it it's appeal! We're going back and I hope you will give it a try. We had our trepidations going in, but left planning to return on each trip.

It's over 100-years old and has a lot of original, unique features that are very cool. Air conditioning is in the bedrooms (thank heavens) and kept the rooms very nice. The halls and all can feel a bit muggy on a hot day, but overall, outstanding and wonderful.

Proprietor Jeane was fantastic. She is friendly and provided outstanding service. The inn has a good vibe - relaxed and comfortable like you’re visiting family or friends. It’s a bit noisy due to creaky floors and street noise heard thru the windows but it’s sort of expected for a century old bldg. Breakfast was delicious.

The property owners were super nice. The food was very good. The place was old and creeky, but had some charm. Our room was small to say the least, and only had a tiny rocker to sit in and it was creeky too. We were two people and needed two chairs. The rooms were not worth what we paid and probably would not stay there again for that reason.

The Henderson is a very charming and rustic place to stay. It is in a great location and is very convienent to the local shops, restaurants and pubs. The host and staff are very friendly and accommodating. They provide two choices for breakfast each morning. The meals are delicious. We plan on making the Henderson our play to stay when visiting my hometown of Hendersonville, NC.

We had a very pleasant stay at The Henderson. Jeanne checked us in and she's very nice and welcoming. Room was small and the floor was very squeaky. The TV in the room is very small. Excellent breakfast and dinner at Harvey's. Overall, we would like to come back and perhaps try a different room.

Husband is the chef, wife runs the front desk and the bar. Makes a great cocktail. Restaurant: awesome. Had a great dinner there. Very unique menu. Chef is British, cooked on cruise ships earlier and lots of local fresh ingredients. Breakfast the next morning was lovely. Decor: traditional Carolina style yet edgy. Lobby is full of vintage mobster / movie posters and trinkets. You can tell the people behind this place are well traveled and cool. Dont stay anywhere else in Hendersonville.

The hotel was in poor shape. It is an old historic hotel but it has not been matained at all. Toilet did not work. Had to unplug heater to use hair dryer.

We were looking for a place to stay in Hendersonville that wasn't A typical hotel and we found the perfect place. The owners were super cool! The staff was awesome! The Henderson has a lot of character, clean, comfortable and great drinks:) We will definitely stay there again.

We love the food, the ambiance and being in walking distance to Main Street. Probably best though is the feeling of friendship and family each time we return.

Advertised having restaurant and bar on site. Both were closed. No hot water in room. So, no shower was taken. Downstairs for breakfast the area was terribly cold. We will not return.

The owners were super friendly and made you feel very welcomed. The location is excellent, right in downtown and the breakfast both days we stayed was amazing!! the only reason we didn't have dinner at the restaurant was because we wanted to walk around town more. Highly recommend this place.

The building was built in 1919 old but very clean and comfortable. The food at their restaurant was amazing. We will definitely visit again. Very pleasant owners made us feel at home.

We had plenty of room between tables and all servers wore masks the entire time. We felt very safe and comfortable. They offered recommendations on places to go, like Dupont and Pisgah for hikes. The room was well decorated and clean. We look forward to staying again.

We love the owners...the overall feel/charm of the building itself...the fact that our dog is treated as well as a human guest...the little coffee/tea stations on each floor...the bar...and the restaurant, "Harvey's" is fantastic.

We stayed over Thanksgiving and had an excellent dinner at Harveys, which is part of the B&B. The breakfasts were delicious and there were always two choices. There was also coffee available on all 3 floors. The hosts were welcoming and the location was a short walk to Main Street.

We had a pleasant stay the room was located towards the side of the road and was a bit noisy, so we had to use some earplugs. We had booked the room for two nights thru expedia/hotels.com and that's probably why we were given the more nosy room. It was also very bright early in the morning so I would highly recommend a sleeping mask. The owners and staff of the hotel were extremely nice and pleasant.

And certainly know their movies ! --AMBIENCE -- classic movies are the team, with photos of movie stars and classic movie posters all over. In addition, we visited in October and they had thoroughly decorated for Halloween. Good fun! --FOOD -- the food is gourmet excellent ! Michael was head of culinary for Royal Caribbean Cruise lines. The Henderson is his chance to do excellent meals on one by one personal basis. -- MOVIE NIGHT -- sadly, we missed Wednesday movie night. They show a classic movie, pausing the movie occasionally to serve the next food course. We look forward to a future movie night when they show "streetcar named desire" and serve jambalaya and Stella beer :-) HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The owners of The Henderson are amazing. They really make you feel like you are friends staying in their home. The food is fantastic. Downtown Hendersonville is within walking distance. We had an event to attend in Asheville, and Michael arranged transportation for us. We truly enjoyed our stay.

We love visiting Hendersonville and have stayed in many local B&B's and hotels. While we have had good experiences at most of them, the Henderson is by far the best. We definitely plan to return here next time we are in the area.

Chef Mike and Jeanine were phenomenal hosts. The Inn is in the heart of Hendersonville,walking distance to all the shops. The room was very clean and comfortable. Jeanine made me feel like family the moment I stepped through the front door with a warm greeting and a big smile. Chef Mike made breakfast a time to look forward to every morning. I stayed Thanksgiving week and I wanted to bring my entire family back to experience the charm of this B&B. I look forward to staying there the next time I'm in Hendersonville, NC and recommend anyone in the area to stay here.

While the location is great (just a block away from Main Street) and the room was charming, we were so looking forward to the touted breakfast which was very disappointing--the egg dish was so watery plus portions small with no seconds offered.. More importantly, the fellow at the desk who may have also been the chef was not at all friendly (unusual for a B&B)--it was as if he really didn't want to be there. Not a good experience.
