Sakura Inn

When we showed up to check in, the staff refused to honor our 3-night reservation. When we insisted they honor the reservation, they became belligerent, said they would not rent us a room, and told us to leave the property. It was a maddening experience, to say the least. These are new owners and the property itself and management have go far down in quality and customer service. Last year should have been a clue to me when they were renting rooms without the required smoke detectors. I of course will never stay there again, and I would suggest that others stay away from this poorly-run business.

The hotel is 20 mins away from Universal Studios. Close to grocery store and restaurants. The bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Did not have coffee maker but did have electric kettle for instant coffee. Parking was convenient. My favorite part was the shower pressure, which is very important to me!

Large room, near shops and restaurants, parking. Two things of note. An intermittent high pitched noise came from somewhere in the motel. It didn’t stop me sleeping or anything but I wondered why staff didn’t do anything about it. Two, I stayed in a dozen hotels on this trip, this was the only one not to have a peephole in the door, or any form of secondary door lock, you know a flip out metal stop, a ball and cradle, a chain. Not having either of these dosent exactly make the place feel safer.

Staff was very helpful when I arrived well past my check-in time due to various delays I faced. The instructions they provided were very clear and easy to understand. Room had plenty of amenities to accommodate my short stay. The only thing I can think of was just the hand soap was low. Asides from that everything else met expectations since it was a very short stay for me. Nothing else.

The location was okay for going to Universal Studios, as it was a 18-20 minute drive. It was very dirty, the floors haven't been cleaned in what looked like weeks, they need to invest in a mop and bucket. When we got there walking on the floor we wondered why our feet and socks where so dirty, we took a piece of kleenex ran it across the floor and it came up black, let's just say anytime we walked on the floor we had our sandals on. Plus there was dirty in the shower, water stains in the sink area, just overall felt dirty. We booked there because it had great reviews, but we are now wondering if management has changed hands recently and the new owners standards are lower. Anyways it is a very dirty place and we will never be back to this motel.

Hotel was clean and friendly. Always had parking but some spots under the cover are pretty tight. They only give you one hand towel and two bath towels, and we found an extra towel or two would be nice. Bed was comfortable but firm. Nicely remodeled and would highly recommend for the price. Great location for lots of food and easy access to freeway and rest of the city.

The staff was really nice, and I liked the free parking. The room was pretty good, but I would say the shower was really gross, and the shampoo, body soap, and conditioner smelled pretty bad. The shower head had a bunch of stuff clogging the holes for the shower head so I cleaned it with a clorax wipe and it was just rust built up. Also we had our room right next to the elevator which kinda felt sketchy and there was even a camera looking right outside the door we entered the room. But overall it was a good area, free parking and nice room

A little more bare bones than the pics lead you to believe, but at least the bed was very nice and most lights were not cool-toned. Still, the furniture is quite cheap and while the shower was a cool rain-type with really good water pressure even my tepid shower made the entire room steamy in two seconds flat. AKA bad ventilation, and clearly that way for a while because the bathroom door had clearly seen dryer days (peeling paint, etc). Plus a panel in the bath was off kilter and you could see into the wall... very off putting. So it absolutely won on price and I see why!

We had a great stay at the Sakura Inn. The place was clean, comfortable, and very convenient for visiting the area. The room had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable after long days exploring Los Angeles. Check-in was easy, the area felt safe and quiet, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Great value for the price and we would gladly stay here again!

Rooms are newly refreshed and nice. Just a motel so no amenities. Parking safe. On a busy street. Well worth the very good price per night if you are looking for a cheap spot in Glendale.

The property had a gated area for vehicles which closed at 11:00 at night and then reopened at 7:00 a.m.. You can use the room key to access the gate to get in after hours. The room was clean and the air conditioner worked well. However my TV powered on, but I couldn't change the stations. Because I turned the TV on late at night while I was falling asleep, I just shut it off. I didn't report it until check out, and then I was worried that the clerk wad going to charge me for not reporting it immediately. The clerk did say I was supposed to report it immediately, but I refused to have a stranger come in my room at 10:00 at night while I was already in bed. Also there was no hair dryer in my room. Good thing I brought my own. Again I reported it when I checked out. I was worried that I was going to be charged for these issues. The neighborhood area feels a bit sketchy. There's a lot of motels and inns on Colorado Boulevard. I did not feel that the room was worth the price I was charged especially in that location. Don't get me wrong, it was a clean room, but as a solo female traveler staying on the first floor, I didn't feel comfortable.

From the moment I arrived, the issues were immediately apparent. The reception area was in a shocking state—there was a strong, unpleasant smell of lingering food, which made the first impression particularly off-putting. The entrance itself looked neglected, with exposed bare metal and paint that appeared not to have been refreshed in years. Rather than welcoming, it felt run-down and poorly maintained. Unfortunately, this sense of neglect continued throughout the property. What seemed like attempts at refurbishment came across as amateur and incomplete, doing little to improve the overall condition. The interiors felt tired, old, and shabby, lacking the level of care and upkeep you would reasonably expect. Overall, the condition of the hotel fell far below expectations, and certainly does not align with the high rating it currently holds. Based on my stay, I would not recommend it.

The Hotel.com listing had a fireplace in the photo.. there was not one in the room... NOT the motel's fault. This is a VERY nice place to stay!

A nice motel—it’s clear that everything has been very thoughtfully designed, with everything exactly where it should be. The bathroom features brand-new fixtures. There is just one small detail, though: since the motel doesn't provide breakfast, it would be great if there were coffee makers and coffee available in the room.

Condition: property is old. Room is fairly old somewhat worn condition. Bathroom shower poor--the shower head was not functioning properly. I would expect better from even a small motel. Small things like: no tissues, no hand soap. Service: poor. I waited long time for front desk person to arrive at front desk, and she was not nice. I won't stay there again unless I was desperate for a simple bed AND it was a fraction of the price.

The property had an elevator which was nice! Will stay here again and again :) We booked a room with a fireplace, but when we got there, there was a sign at registration saying not all rooms had fireplaces, ours did not have one.

Google Maps lists this hotel as one of the top-rated in Glendale, and the price is quite reasonable. I was very dissatisfied with the cleanliness. There were stains on the bed sheets, and I noticed dark marks in the corners of sink and in the bathroom. On the third day, housekeeping forgot to provide a bath mat, and they only gave one bath towel for two people. On the fourth day, they did provide two bath towels, but still forgot the bath mat.

My daughter and I stayed here for our Universal Studios trip. The inside was very clean and spacious. Everything is updated and they have a fireplace inside. Very quiet area and right next to Target. We will definitely stay here again

Got locked out of Parking lot by 5 minutes, waited 30 minutes for staff at check in

Pulling back the sheets, we found in the center of the bed, mouse turds. I don’t know when the sheets were last changed. Perhaps the room hadn’t been used for a while. The parking air-conditioning and staff were good.

The staff are kind and accommodating to travellers. Parking was great and had enough spots, and a gate at night for added security. Room was quite clean and very comfortable. Microwave, mini fridge, kettle, and hair dryer in the room. There is no coffee/tea provided, just a kettle. No breakfast. But they don’t claim to provide it so it’s perfectly okay, you don’t pay for those extras so it stays affordable. No hidden fees. My stay was wonderful and made LA super enjoyable, thank you! I think the conditioner provided in my room was also shampoo so there were 2 shampoo pumps. But for a short stay it was alright!

It feels like it’s gone downhill a bit in recent years, but it’s still a decent place to stay.

Not all rooms have fireplace. Great shower! Quiet toilet (won't wake people sleeping). Excellent location for those visiting Los Feliz, Silverlake, observatory and hiking trails. A few decent restaurants nearby but not great ones. Excellent grocery store and large Goodwill within walking distance. Good deal!

I was disappointed First with Expedia!I thought cost was already paid when I made reservations. Had to pay 100 plus more dollars unexpected. Second A/C didnt work very good and it was hot. Shower didn't work. Bed was unconfortable.

We stayed two nights. The receptionist was very friendly, efficient and check in was fast. Though not new our room was large, clean and very comfortable. The shower was really good. We have stayed here previously and find the rate is reasonable and the location convenient to our needs.

The room was very clean and I liked that no pets are allowed, the no pets policy helps keep the rooms clean. The parking lot is secured at night with a large automatic gate, that gave me a little peace of mind. The wifi was free and the speeds were excellent.

Price, no frills, location, parking. One of the easiest TV’s to access in a hotel room. Usually they’re frustrating and takes forever to scroll thru. I heard the guests upstairs every morning. Fortunately I’m an early riser but I’d be upset if that got me up. Also, the lighting in the bathroom was very dim. Seems like those vanity combo mirror/lights aren’t very good. Would have been nice to have a few extra hand towels. Only one was provided My biggest beef is with booking.com. I sent a question through the site twice and never got a response. When I reserved the room, I got an email with a phone number for contact. I called that number which sounded like a random mobile phone. I left a message and never got a response. I don’t think I’ll be booking again through them. I can’t rely on them. What if an issue arose and I wouldn’t get a response?

This was my second stay at Sakura, which is just a mile from a family member. I had rented an EV at the airport and was worried about charging it. Much to my delight, Sakura had two charger cables and it was free. The cable i used was slow, but it got the job done. There is also a Tesla charger. Being an elderly lady, I was glad for the security gate that protects the parking lot from 11 pm to morning. There's an elevator to the upper floors. The room is large, the linens were fresh, the bed was comfortable, there's a fridge, microwave, electric kettle, TV with cable channels. Plenty of hot water for shower/bath. Convenient to freeways. I found a great café for breakfast and an outstanding food truck for lunch in nearby Eagle Rock (5 minutes drive.) Sakura is excellent value if you want security, clean, large but no frills. One bedside light was non-operative. There was a piece of painter's blue tape stuck to the smoke/CO detector. I reported both issues, but they had not been attended to before my checkout. There is no coffee maker in the room or at the desk: next time I'll bring my own supplies for doing pour-over coffee. There is traffic noise from Colorado Blvd but it's quiet at night: the room fan would mask it if you need it.

The TV in the room would not work. Called the desk, they said someone would be up in 15 mins…no one showed. It was ok…we left and went to a party. When I came back later in the evening, no one answered the phone at front desk.

This was our second time staying at the Sakura Inn. When I was checking in, I told the lady at the front desk that we have a service dog. She made a face and acted like I did something wrong. Like I said, it was the second time I’ve stayed there with my service dog. The staff made us feel uncomfortable as they stared at us as we unloaded the car and went into the room. I will NEVER stay here again.

The sleeping area was nice but the shower had a lot of black mold lining the shower and underneath the hair conditioner. I’m allergic so my allergies were flared up and I couldn’t sleep.

It’s a small place very quaint rooms were clean and they had EV parking which was a plus area has lots of things around. It worked out nicely for the trip. I’m sure I will be back again.

The air conditioning was effective. The parking felt unsafe... people randomly knocking on room doors. First morning the front desk called at 5:30 AM to ask why I called them I did not call them. Front desk staff was horrendously rude.

Very clean and comfortable. First time staying there and I will definitely stay there again.

Staff available for late check-in and allowed late check out. Room has mini fridge and microwave. Nice shower with waterfall shower head.

Great little place for a quick stay in Glendale- No coffee in room, a hot water maker is all-

Only three minor complaints: 1) There was no hair dryer in the unit, but staff took care of it quickly. 2) The edges around the bathtub needed cleaning with a mildew/mold cleaner. 3) We had a non-smoking room, but a smoking area was below our only exterior window. Overall, the staff was very friendly, the room was spacious, the shower was excellent, and the room was clean.

The lady in the front is nice and understanding. But the room was not as nice as it is stated or clean. It had a mild dewy smell. The bathroom and tub had mold everywhere. The elevator was broken and the lady in the front knew I had luggage’s but couldn’t offer a room on a lower floor. It is not clean as Expedia’s rating states. So if you do go here just know it’s not as clean or nice as it states.

Our 3rd time staying here. It’s great - clean rooms, easy access, free parking. I wish they had regular TV channels and sports channels, and the bedside lamps should have dimmer capabilities. They’re so bright like sunlight! We will stay here again!

Liked the communication . I received a text on the day of arrival and when I left. Instructions at check-in was easy to understand. Room was clean but floor needed a good mopping because it was dusty. Wished there was another set of towels since they were small and one small bath towel per person when you don’t do maid service isn't ideal.

Not sure why this place gets excellent reviews. It's just o.k.. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, but the rooms need to be refreshed quite a bit.

The coffee maker in the room did not work after we had a inconsiderate effort to get coffee packets. The coffee maker only would boil water and coffee was for a perculator style. Price was our draw, yet the amenities was well below a typical hotel, much below average

Our room was spotless and I loved the sliding barn door for extra privacy in the bathroom area. The staff was quick to fix a problem with our TV. Parking is gated at night. It is a motel type facility with outside doors to each room and is called Motel Sakura on their sign (instead of Sakura Inn).

I always try and stay at the Sakura and I’m always happy when I do! The staff is great,the property is well-kept and the rooms are always immaculate! The best place to stay in Glendale!

Small motel. Some parking spots were very narrow. But this room looked freshly remodeled and was quite comfy and quiet and clean. Not much in the area but it felt safe.

Great little inn for a quick getaway! Clean overall, but the shower we got needs to be cleaned for little mold specks in the corners and calcium buildup on the shower head. Otherwise, everything is great! Just being a tiny bit nitpicky. :)

My wife had a reservation that we had booked for awhile. Upon arrival they had overbooked and no longer had a room for us. They apologized and blamed it on the computer program. Our reservation was no longer valid.

I booked a room for 3 nights and was assigned a room on the 3rd floor. The first impression my wife and I had was the smell of mold or wetness in the room. The second issue is that you must have the AC unit on at all times or the room becomes suffocating. The unit sounds like an extremely loud diesel engine and makes it impossible to sleep. The bathroom was quite dirty and the shower head was caked with residue. On the morning of the second day, we found a half alive 2inch cockroach on the floor of the bathroom. I spoke to the staff to request a refund for the last night and check out early. The front desk said they needed to “check the room” even after I showed her the picture of the cockroach. They agreed to refund me the last night but suggested the reason the cockroach got in was because I kept opening the door. This was a ridiculous statement as there was a large crack between the door and frame.

Parking was tight, but secure. The room was decent and pretty clean. They just didn’t have the ac on, so when I arrived at around midnight or 1am, it took hours for the room to even remotely cool down for me to sleep. I didn’t get much sleep

We had booked two rooms for a one-night stay after stargazing night at mount wilson observatory. Check-in and parking were easy, and the rooms clean and comfortable. I am especially grateful that Bianca called me right away to let me know that house cleaning had found my laptop which I’d accidentally left in the nightstand. Highly recommend this well-managed hotel.

Very nice Motel in Glendale. Location was super clean inside and out. The customer service was very nice. Parking was easy and free (rare find) area was safe and quiet. Great location to restaurants and entertainment. Price was very reasonable. Would stay again when in Glendale area.

Nice hotel, rooms are clean, and safe parking. The closer you are to being next to or above the mangers office or apartment the more curry smell you will have. If you are ok with that no problem otherwise request rooms further away. Still a very convenient property for LA and Studio City

initially, I was upset because I was charged then told that my reservation was not in the system. Upon further review, the manager quickly alerted me that I had booked for Sunday and not Saturday as I had originally thought. she was patient and very professional and accommodating me although it was my error. I owe her tremendous gratitude and great customer service followed. The room I had was clean recently remodeled and she took a negative and turned to a positive. Thank you both.

This is almost a 4 star hotel with the price of a 2. So nice and so clean , comfortable and had everything we needed. We went to a concert at the Greek Theatre and this was so convenient and so very affordable. Nice owner checked us in and plenty of free parking and safe with gate. Will definitely come back and highly recommend!

Updated rooms good location with safe parking. Walkable dining is good and freeway acess good. Don't expect a lot of staff interaction.

I have stayed at the Sakura Inn multiple times, however the last time I stayed was almost 10 years ago. It was really nice to be back and to see the great renovations to the rooms. They look great!

For an inexpensive option in the Glendale/Eaglerock are, Sakura is a great choice. We have stayed here several times and will be staying here again, until we can afford the Langham in San Marino.

Always my go-to when visiting the Los Angeles area. Safe, quiet, secure, and the rooms are comfortable.

The room clean

There is a special way to change the water spout to the shower. You have to squat down to do so. It is unsafe. I recommend that you change it BEFORE taking a shower. Two of us did NOT change it before, and squatted to change it at the bottom, and hit the head hard consequently.

Loved the smoked glass mirror in the bathroom that takes 20 years off! :D Parking could be a bit challenging after 10pm, but usually was fine. There was always a space, even if a bit difficult to navigate. My ONLY quibble was that the tile floor in my room could use a good scrubbing. My feet got dusty/dirty between the shower and bed, a problem I solved with a damp bath mat. Minor problem, but the review would be five stars if this were fixed.

That was annoying, but I was able to go back to the front desk to reset it, and just made a mental note to keep it in a completely separate pocket. Unfortunately, the second time it demagnetized was when I got back for a night or with friends. The desk closed at 7pm, so nobody was available to help, even though the front desk door was unlocked and I rang the help bell multiple times. I ended up sleeping in my car until the hotel opened in the morning.

Would definitely return.

This is a great little place! Parking was easy, and I liked that it had a gate that was closed at night. The rooms were spacious, but the bathroom is a little small. Overall it was a great stay and would stay here again.

We stayed here for a concert at the Greek Theatre. They stay was very comfortable and clean. Check-in was very fast and we got to check in a little early. Room was very clean and look recently updated. Parking is gated at night and felt very safe. I will be returning anytime I attend another concert at the Greek Theatre.

They appear to be trying to upgrade certain aspects, but are falling short in certain areas. For example the bathroom had new looking fixtures, but the shower rod was in desperate need of replacement.

Just an overnight before flight but pleasantly surprised at the facilities of this motel type property. Fridge, microwave, a proper kettle and great TV inc. youtube,and other streaming services. A fabulous shower combo of large and smaller headed sprays. Very nice reception staff. Near eating facilities. Perhaps a little way out for some for LAX (allow at least one hour for drive to airport) but safe area.
