Thunderbird Motel

There were a few stains on the carpet and the lamp shade was cracked (dated), but the bathroom was super clean, the towels and sheets were soft & fresh, staff was friendly, nice breakfast. It was nice to have a fridge/freezer as we had Cornish Pasties we bought and wanted to take home to family. We felt comfortable.

Breakfast was good and well stocked with breakfast sandwiches (JimmyDean), yogurt, juice, waffles, cold cereal and fruit. No complaints! Easy parking even though the motel was full. Quiet and safe night.

Overall good staff. Bed firm, uncomfortable for me but my husband slept well. Everything clean and tidy. Ice machine working. Coffee good, breakfast small but good. Very walkable area being right downtown

Negative: Vanity counter wasn’t cleaned -dried up lotion on the counter . Freezer had frost and crumbs - gave it the appearance that it wasn’t cleaned. Refrigerator racks appears too old - they’re cracked showing the metal that appears rusty. Fitted sheet had very light stain. Time to invest in a new toilet seat - clean but the white paint has been rubbed off giving it an unpleasant appearance Body lotion instead of body wash in shower -

One thing I’ll say about this motel is the advertise two queen beds, but it was definitely two full beds. I would’ve never booked it if I known that, I measured them I know that.

That said, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. But it was not “deep clean.” It just badly needs to be updated. But then it would be more expensive of course. It was ok and I’d stay again in a pinch.

Quiet and clean and just what was needed for a one night stay on our road trip. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast had everything we needed.

Stained room, single suite was just a double suite with one bed removed. Everything worked though. And had directv which was nice

We love staying at the Thunderbird when we are passing through Elko. It is affordable and clean. The staff are accommodating and the breakfast is good.

I would be nice if it started at 6 AM It was 13 degrees when I was there, so didn’t try the AC but the heater was excellent and it was quiet.

The Thunderbird is acute mid century style motel. The lobby is neat and the breakfast is pretty generous. The parking lot isn’t OK shape. The rooms are just OK but in need of fresh paint and repairs of such things as wood trim that is scratched and old. Also, the room wasn’t clean that well as I found change other things lying about the carpet. Sketch people staying at the motel and the surrounding area is questionable.

While this is an older motel on the outside, the staff and cleanliness make the Thunderbird motel a great value. Free breakfast with Hot Coffee is always a plus. Within walking distance of the Star Hotel which has great Basque Food. Looking forward to staying here again the next time passing through Elko.

Stayed two nights this last week and both times were perfect. The manager is super sweet and polite. Breakfast was great too. Would definitely stay here again.

For a one night stay, it wasn’t bad. Somewhat musty smell in the room, but it was clean. The “English breakfast” isn’t. Just some microwaveable egg/sausage muffins, cold cereal or oatmeal, yogurt and a waffle maker. Standard stuff, but not as advertised. The place could use a good facelift all around, but for one night it was fine.

Good heating & hot water. Good shower. Friendly staff. One Key card didn't work no matter how often it was reactivated or replaced. Decor a bit dated but it is a quiet town. Breakfast wasn't tempting but lots of restaurants near by.

This is an older seasoned motel right in the middle of town. Friendly staff, clean room large room, comfortable bed, racks to hold luggage. Modest accommodation - good value.

The breakfast wasn't much. Only had coffee. It was like the bare minimum for things. The heater didn't keep the room the right temperature and the mattress was too hard. Uncomfortable.

Our second room smelled like smoke so we asked to move to another and it was quickly allowed Our sink didn't have soap so we had to go into the shower and use the gel in the wall to wash our hands. A bed was missing with the headboard still attached to the wall.

Friendly staff! Pet friendly! It was safe leaving the luggage in the car! Very close to I-80! Unfortunately the bed I used had long brack hairs among the sheets and the floor was not clean! I found a chewing gum stuck on the bed cover! I think they should be better.

The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. However, the towels were thin and the wash cloths turned gray when wet. They need to be replaced badly. The freezer in the mini fridge had so much frost I couldn't fit the ice packs from my cooler into it to refreeze them

The room was nice and clean. It was quiet even though I was in a room right by the parking lot and access ally. It had a comfortable bed.

It's cheap and in a good location, felt safe. Room wasn't the cleanest. We ended up sleeping in sleeping bags on the bed instead of using the sheets, plus the room was cold.

Dog friendly, comfortable beds, coffee maker and microwave available. Floors were made up of all different carpet squares that looked dirty. There were no designated areas for the dogs to go potty. TV buffered the whole time we were there. However, the manager did try to help with the buffering with no success. Motel is a little shotty. Won't stay again.

For a motel, it's really nice. I liked it. I would stay again in the future. But the customer service wasn't the best. The man wasn't friendly; he practically snatched my credit card out of my hand without explaining why. I had to ask him why he needed my credit card.

I got to park only feet from my door. The parking lot is a bit tight but not to bad. The room was clean and ac worked well and better lighting. I've stayed in a few places recently and I'll probably come back her over the others. I'll see what breakfast is like in the morning. They make it sound like it's going to be pretty good.

The sweet was okay the toilet was dirty and they were still wet washcloths in the shower. We stayed at some econ friendly hotels that were basically life or death. The Thunderbird is tucked amongst historic hotels of tourist driven Elko Nevada. Great checking experience, friendly staff, clean, inviting swimming pool, a clean and comfortable hotel room. Out of the many places we stayed on our multi-state vacation a Thunderbird is the only one I would recommend.

The rooms are nice to sleep in they have everything in the room. Plus the breakfast was good, just not like most up scale hotels But I would stay there again, Motorcycle riders stay there so you know it is good. And there is great to eat walking distance which was great.

Tighy7in the heart of old downtown Elko amongst a lot of retired old hotels is this little gem. Close to the best and dining experiences in the city with easy accessibility. Those running the place were very nice and friendly and they had a fairly good complimentary breakfast. Would recommend

I asked about a good meal. He suggested the Starr. It didnt disappoint, food was excellent. We had 2 room and everything was good. Even though they were full, he still helped me with the inputs on my tv. Guy seemed like he has never been stressed. Good dude. We also left a tablet. I called and he shipped it to our home. Very very good people. Hotel is older but clean. They have a few comfortable chairs and mini tables in them which made it easy to feed our kids. Thanks for everything !!!!

An older property that has been well kept. It was a good place for quick overnight stay. The room however did have an off smell in it. The property was nearly full and parking was scarce.

Place needs maintenance. Fix the shower. Replace stained and dirty carpet tiles. Get a fridge that doesn't make a loud noise. Extra pillows should be standard. Couple next door caused us to leave ASAP, but that is not the fault of the motel. Some people are just miserable.

The location is very convenient, close to the interstate and right into town. The motel is a very old building but in good shape. The bedding and furnishings were clean, but the remote control and door handles were pretty filthy. It was evident they don't clean the walls or handles on anything in the room on a regular basis, or after each vacancy. Overall it was a decent place to stay the night.

This is a location that is a way point between Yosemite and Yellowstone, not much to see or do if you are not into gambling. A typical town that has seen better days. Thunderbird is clean, safe, updated. Adequate breakfast for traveling on the road. A value overall

This is an older property, but well maintained. The unit was clean with all the little amenities added (shampoo, soap, etc). The manager was helpful when I couldn't get my key to work properly (operator failure). As we were turning in the key, the manager wished us safe travels and a good day. It was a very clean and friendly place to stop at.

The hotel is little dated but good service and cleanliness, I would definitely stay here again.

Only complaint it- I left at 7am and still no breakfast was out. Huge bummer. I travel for work and I count on that breakfast before I hit the road.

Convenient, good location, friendly check-in, clean, spacious room. Short walk to several restaurants, easy parking.

It was cheap and average. You get what you pay for. We were on a cross country road trip and this was a half way point. Little mining town with average casinos. Front desk staff very nice. Had frozen bfast sandwiches and burritos which were nice. Room was old and run down but pretty clean. Worked for us for the night.

I got what I paid for. Pool and free breakfast saved the day. If your on a tight budget then go for it

Very nice and super clean

The bed and the room is clean and comfortable, breakfast was basic but good. The pool was a nice treat. This motel is right in the heart of old town and has the only working sign on the strip, managementis putting in an good effort. I would stay again if in this place, value for money.

Pleasant & had a good free breakfast

It’s an older hotel, sparkling clean, and in great condition. Location is downtown and perfect for dining. The breakfast bar was excellent, with a wide selection including making fresh waffles and good coffee and orange juice.

Absolutely a hidden gem. It’s older, so the furnishings and pool are dated, but we felt safe, we slept well, and the staff were super kind. Value was amazing!! Will stay again.

I was appreciative of having a room ready for me late at night when I arrived after a long day of driving. But what on earth happened to the second bed in my room (it’s missing) and what’s with the bleach stain on the carpet? Never mind, I don’t want to know. I did sleep well in the remaining bed, and for that, I’m glad.

The property is old but some updates have been made, not many but some. The second time of choosing this property, the room was in real need of new carpet.

As traveling entertainers we stay in a lot of hotels. I found they had rooms pet friendly and not pet friendly. So if you choose a room that is pet friendly there is still a fee for a pet…Not so friendly. I read reviews for this place much better than we experienced

Clean and friendly

Great experience. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We appreciated the spaciousness of the room and the Paul Mitchell shampoo. The breakfast selection was a nice change for us as we have been in several hotels lately. The AC didn’t work well by morning, but made the room cool enough to sleep in. The staff were friendly as well. We would be happy to stay here again. Thank you for an affordable option for our family.
