One of the biggest highlights was the location. It was convenient to local attractions, restaurants, and the beautiful coastline, making it easy to enjoy everything Half Moon Bay has to offer. The only downside was that the walls seemed a bit thin. We could hear neighboring guests, including children crying early in the morning and late at night, which occasionally disrupted our sleep. Despite that minor issue, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to travelers looking for a comfortable, well-kept place in a great location.

Located right across from the harbor, the aptly named Harbor View Inn was clean and in a great location. Very convenient, with nice off-street parking behind the building.

Helpful staff Room was on the side facing parking lot at the end of the row across from the ice machine and a dark stairwell. Very unsatisfactory location. Bed was stiff and uncomfortable as were the pillows. Room was clean; I left some items there and they kindly contacted me with pictures of the items, which I decided to have them discard. So, I was happy with staff, unhappy with room location and furnishings.

The bed was very comfortable, room had everything we needed, very quite loved the window seat looking over harbor the door to the bathroom was too big for the room, no elevator

The hotel is well-situated to enjoy the natural beauty of the Halfoon Bay. The property is intimate and comfortable for long weekends or extended stays.

Property was clean, rooms where designed very cute and comfortable Ac/heater didn’t work. We were given a space heater, not terrible but wish the mini split did work. The bed was a little soft and springy but was overall good!

Smelled off, no vending machine, and bathroom lights were glitchy (+no blue shower light)

This hotel is excellent offering a great price and a convenient location. The bed was very comfortable, making for a restful stay. I also loved the high ceiling (for the King Room) , which made the room feel much more spacious and bigger. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. Overall, a 10/10 experience—I would definitely stay here again! There was some road construction outside at night with noise and the smell of asphalt, so I closed the bathroom window before sleeping. I was very tired and still managed to sleep, so it wasn’t a major issue. However, I would like to share some feedback regarding the check-in experience. The receptionist mentioned immediately upon arrival that the heater was not working and that I could cancel if I wanted. As a guest who had just arrived after a long drive, this felt quite abrupt and not very welcoming. It would have been more reassuring to first welcome the guest and then calmly explain the situation along with available alternatives or solutions offered by the hotel. Overall, the stay was still enjoyable, but I believe guest communication at check-in could be improved to create a more welcoming first impression.

Walkable to the shore and restaurants

Parking was good. When we checked in the staff said the a/c or heater did not work and there was a fireplace that we could turn on for heat. We were not offered a discount or a chance to get our money back. The walls at this place are PAPER THIN! We heard everything the people were saying and doing in the next room. We will not be staying here again.

Rooms are nice and clean. Beaches nearby. Shower water pressure was impressive. Felt like room ceiling was low.

The only problem we had was 2 groups of people staying in 2 separate room came in late and they were making a lot of nose. They were partying outside their rooms and in the parking lot laughing, talking loud and it looked like drinking. This went on for at least 45 minutes or longer. If it wasn’t late it wouldn’t have been a problem. I am sure we weren’t the only ones who could hear the noise. We had to call the office and complain. I would have thought they would have handled it before we called because the hotel is not very big and this group was loud but once we called it got quiet after about 15 minutes. I am not sure if any other guest called too.

This motel has been updated recently with nice bathroom mirrors, vanity, and comfortable mattress. The downsides are that the walls are so paper thin that you can even hear your next door neighbor’s phone text alerts and coughing. Also we could not get the air conditioner to a comfortable temp despite trying to adjust multiple settings. Finally, there is a lot of road noise from highway 1.

The door automatically unlocks when you open it, which was a bit problematic for our autistic four year old who loves to escape.

Nice property. Booked for 1 night. The only off thing was we booked a king bed room but Expedia sent it over as a queen bed room (so not the inn's fault). Everything was clean and super sweet on when we checked in 3 mins to lobby closing.

The Harbor View Inn was really clean - that stood out right away. Additionally, the location was great - just across Highway One from the water. Once we got there, we just walked to close restaurants and they were amazing (fresh fish, clams, etc.) The rooms were small, and lodging in Half Moon Bay is expensive.

Location was great. Love the window view towards the ocean Sewer smell from bathroom and the flies. Windows were closed but the flies kept coming in only the bathroom. I can only guess they came from the drain, maybe a p trap is leaking causing the smell and flies to come in.. Due to being full, we couldn't change rooms.

It was a very comfortable stay. Easy check-in and out. The room was nice size, bed comfortable. It was nicely located across Pillar Point Harbor, close to dining, strolling and some shopping. It also has a cafe next door-The Press for quick coffee and easy breakfast. Ice machine was broken. Not much a problem, bit can be useful.

Our room was very clean and comfortable beds. Did not like the thin walls. There was a family with baby next to us....no one likes a fussy baby. Did not like that there was no elevator and our room was upstairs. Hard to get bags up the stairs. Did not like that there wasn't a vending machine and were instructed to go next door to the store. A two queen bed room can potentially have 4 guests. The bathroom door had 1 hook, that's not enough.

Room was well appointed and the bathroom was clean and tidy. Everything was well maintained. Noise was a little loud. The flooring was unforgiving with sound.

Room appeared clean, however when you look closer the ceiling fan in Bathroom was dirty. The water in shower never got hot. Floor did not appear to have been cleaned, felt dirty under bare feet. Mattress was very soft. Website stated it was updated or renovated, although furniture is cheap, and peeling. Very overpriced for condition and quality of room. Worst part is walls are paper thin.

I asked if I could change from one to two beds in my room and was told that they didn’t have other rooms available, but the entire place only had four cars in the parking lot that night. I also tried to exercise my AAA rate and she told me that she wouldn't honor it.Walls were paper, thin and it sounded like the people in the room next-door were right in our room. Really didn’t want to hear what was going on in there!There were also ants in our room. It’s too bad because it’s a great location, but I would not go back there again.

I would call directly to the hotel to confirm the size room. I listed 3 occupants and was given a room for 2. The hotel showed what they received from Hotels.com and it didn’t match. The Inn was clean, safe and Grace (the hotel worker) was as friendly as can be. She did all she could to make the pallet I had to make on the floor comfortable.

The rooms are clean and the front desk attendant was very nice. It's a great location with plenty of food options within walking distance. There’s a coffee shop next door, BBQ spot across the street, Indian restaurant a block away, and several seafood spots across the highway. If you feel like fishing, there's also plenty of spots across the highway at the marina. It's far enough from the city where you feel like you're away but also close enough for a nice weekend getaway.

We stayed in a double queen room on the second floor, which was very clean and spacious. The bathroom was a nice size for 2 people. The down side for us was there is no elevator so you have to carry your luggage, which is not bad if you arent carrying a lot. Loved our room. Newly remodeled and very cute. I really liked that there was plenty of lighting. Especially the bathroom lighting. The refrigerator was not working in our room. The property was less than 5 minutes from the harbor which had several good restaurants. We were very happy with it overall. Plenty of parking and it was free.

Stayed for one night to go to an event in Half Moon Bay. The location was 10 minutes from HMB, all rooms have windows facing the water. Good food options nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nicely updated. Walls are paper thin. Luckily I'm a heavy sleeper and no one was too raucous - but TV and conversations could be heard. The fireplace in the wall was a nice touch. The unit is high up and the switch is on the top, so not obvious if you're short like me. Otherwise, it was nice overall and met our needs.

I had an unfortunate incident with a toothache. I had signed up for extra coverage for an event of such an emergency through Expedia. Expedia asked me to ask the hotel to assist me. The hotel manager would not assist me in rearranging my accommodation. I suffered through the last day of my vacation was spent in bed because of the unfortunate incident. Over all the staff were nice. I really enjoyed my time there.

The pervasive and extremely strong smell of their deodorizer/cleaning solution was overwhelming and unpleasant throughout the stay. Adding to the discomfort were the paper-thin walls. I could clearly hear my neighbors using their washroom, and nighttime brought even more intrusive sounds. The washroom itself presented its own set of issues. The automatic lights were highly sensitive, triggering every time I moved in the room. Even more frustrating, they turned off while I was in the shower, leaving me in the dark. To top it off, there was no soap in the dispensers. Finally, the bed was not very comfortable, making for a poor night's sleep. Overall, there were very few positives to salvage what was a pretty pricey and unsatisfying experience.

Nobody should stay here. The walls are so thin I could hear snoring, coughing, talking, etc. all night. It is in a good location, and the room is nice, but the acoustically transparent walls make the room uninhabitable.

Nice location, room was very nice. I would have preferred an upstairs room so we could open the window at night but we booked at the last minute.

On the highway. Double paned windows worked when closed. Walls were thin - we could hear the snorer in the next room all night ( though they did provide earplugs - should have been a tip-off). But I don’t think there are any 5-star hotels in half moon bay.

The room was clean and well furnished. It was obvious that updates have been made. The bed was comfortable and both soft and firm pillows were provided. I was there for 10 days and the staff was friendly and helpful as I received several packages during my stay. Towels and trash were changed every couple of days. Minor issues were the shower doors (rollers loose), and shower water flow (takes twice as long as usual to rinse off)

Great location

The walls are super thin. You can hear everything. From coughing up a lung to then snoring loudly all night, TV up really high, a 3am phone call, to general very loud talking and constant dropping of things. It's no wonder there were earplugs in the bathroom.

It was a good bed and overall nice room. Wi-Fi was weak and tv was difficult to navigate.

Totally opposite of what we were expecting for that high pay with that bad condition . Ruined our trip.

On top of all this the walls are so lacking insulation or soundproofing you can hear your neighbors talking, having sex, and snoring. The snoring the second night kept me awake. The inn provides ear plugs but they don’t work. They could fix this with acoustic wallboard. And not much water pressure in the shower. The only positive about this place is it has been updated fixtures and furnishings and it was less expensive than most in the area. But it’s in LaGranada not close to downtown Half Moon Bay or beaches. You can only walk to the harbor. No beach there. It was not worth the money we spent. Never again would I stay there.

Bathtub faucet was not attached. Room is outdated.

Loved the location, so many beautiful walking trails. The rooms were very noisy unfortunatelty. The walls are very thin. The room itself was clean and updated.

Great location and modern rooms for the older building. Only complaint was the fragrance of cleaner was pretty strong (scented) and it was too much for me.

The property was very well kept. Our only complaint is that the walls were thin and you could hear the people next door. The customer service was great!

Wonderful one night stay, we checked in late and was able to utilize the no contact check in which was nice. Room was beautiful and clean, robes were very comfortable and it left us wanting to return for a several night stay…not to mention you’re across the street from the water which was beautiful both at night and in the morning.

I stayed at this Inn 5th time. It says all.

The walls are paper thin. You could practically hear your neighbor breathing. I could hear his phone vibrate, every single word he said whether quiet or loud, blowing his nose... EVERYTHING. We could barely sleep. Otherwise, it was neat and clean and newly updated. The location is ok... you can walk across Highway 1 to the water and dining which is great but you also get a lot of highway noise.

The hotel was so beautiful! The pirce was amazing me! I can not believe the price was 130-150/night for two queen sized beds with ocean views! I’ll always choose this hotel when I go to the half moon bay beach!

Receptionist was very nice. Room next door hosted a party until 4am. No one on site to address the noise problem. Room wasn’t cleaned as requested.

The rooms are big and the bed is comfortable. I am a light sleeper, though, and the walls are thin and the windows are not insulated well. I woke up to the guy next door snoring every night and was kept awake by him talking on the phone till midnight. The location near the water is great, too, but the sound of cars woke me up in the morning. I did not, however, mind listening to the sound of sea lions at night. :) and yes, i used ear plugs as i have to carry them wherever i go.

Very clean, and clearly renovated. The paint, floors, and everything was new. Private parking. Very convenient to scenic spots and restaurants. Don’t expect breakfast but wonderful eats right next door. Yes all the rooms have a water view but there is a 4 way intersection and piers between the hotel and the water.

This inn was a remarkable gem in just the right spot. It said partial view of the harbor which meant we had to stand on a chair in bathroom right? Wrong, It had a great view in our opinion.

The room was very nice, but the hotel is right in the road, so the noise from the road is bad. It would not have been a big deal if we had the windows closed, but our room was 79 degrees when we walked in and the AC was broken. We had to open the windows to cool the room. The location is nice because it is close to the ocean and food

Very no-frills hotel and room. Good location for beach access, but not very charming.

After being out all day on second day we came back to find room had not been cleaned. I asked reception who told me if I didn't put out the door hanger requesting service then the cleaners would not enter. Given no one had told us at check in, we were a little surprised. We were able to get clean towels. Good general location for hiking and restaurants. About 5 miles N of Half Moon Bay in Granada. Prefer to stay in HMB. Lessons learned.

Very nice ladies at front desk. The room was cute, it was nice to open the windows to have the breeze off the water. Centrally located to walk to restaurants and waterfront.

Room layout is great with bay window and window seat. The owners have made an effort to update bathroom, flooring, and furniture. The walls are so thin they provide earplugs in the room, which is a nice accommodation (and we didn’t need them). Overall, this is a pretty basic hotel with no amenities, but the location is favorable and we had a fine stay.

Pillows are not soft enough would really ne mu only minor complaint. The room was nicely appointed though and very clean. The front desk receptionist was really nice. Great coffee in reception area! Some loud road noise when windows are open since location is facing highway 1. Ear plugs were provided in room. But no noise noticed if windows were closed. Reasonable price compared to other places in the area.

Staff was nice when checking in. Rooms are nice and cozy, yet smallish. Despite name of hotel, no harbor view. Across highway from harbor. Had noisy screaming neighbor for over 2-hrs after 10pm. Hotel did little/nothing to stop.

Great to have a microwave & mini fridge. Loved the little seating area near the window. Staff were very nice. Coffee machine in lobby was a real treat too.

We liked our room setup and the large window seat where we could sit and gaze at the harbor. Staff was friendly and conversational, as I used their lobby coffee, tea and juice offerings during our stay. Room walls were thin and I could hear our neighbor snoring, as well as others getting up to use the restroom at night. Walking across the street to the harbor was convenient for dining and shopping which we enjoyed.

Great little Inn, very clean and the staff were exceptionally friendly. I left behind an item and they called me right away, and they held the item for me. The only downside was that we could hear the people above us.

Walls are paper thin and although they offer ear plugs, someone's phone alarm going off 20x that morning (didn't want to get up?) sounds like it is on your nightstand. You can also hear conversations and people walking above you.

Harborview inn is a great location. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to take care of the guests. Room was spotless and decorated very well. I did supply foam ear plugs in the downstairs room because you do hear the people walking around upstairs. Didn't really bother me but if it would bother you you might want to request I'm upstairs room. It was a great value and I will be back.

We got a king bedroom for our weekend getaway. The room was clean and bright with high celling. It has simple decorations with a chandelier and an electric fireplace make the place feels cozy. We left the windows open and we got ocean breeze all day long. It was very relaxing.

Stayed one night - great little spot for a short stay. Only complaint was that the walls/ceiling is thin and the people above us were a bit loud.

The guy at the front desk was really nice, and carried my heavy luggage up the stairs (no elevator). There were no night lights, (side lighting), only overhead lights. Although you could reach them from the bed, they were pretty bright and not conducive to falling asleep. Also, outdoor lights shone in through the bathroom window, and made the room too light. Of course you can close the door and that makes the room dark, which is good. The place is convenient to the restaurants across the highway, which you can walk to.

The room was very nice. Very clean and everything updated and new. We had a large room with window seat, gas fireplace and fresh and soft white robes. Outside of hotel doesn’t reflect what’s inside, but the inside (your room) is the most important.

Very welcoming staff. The location and view are incredible! We will come back every spring.
