Reviews
Many guests appreciate the central location of the hotel and some find the rooms comfortable. However, cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms, as well as the quality of customer service, are consistent issues across the reviews.

The day was good that’s all I have to say about it
- 4/5
Very nice and clean. Had to pay $24 for two people to eat breakfast even though it was advertised at $10 a person. I was also told when I booked the room there would be a $20 room deposit. However, I was charged $100. Other than the price discrepancies, it was a good place to stay and it was close to everything I needed during this stay.

Nice staff, ok rooms. Could use an update as the property is somewhat run down

No restaurant or bar was available. One elevator did not work. The room was VERY tired and worn: toilet paper holder was on the floor, shower curtain rod was badly bent and sagging down, only had 1 bath towel for 2 people. The entire property is worn out and old. It needs a serious renovation. At least they could make do with what they have with basic housekeeping and facility maintenance, but they do not.

Property is extremely outdated and needs an overhaul. Our tub faucet was half off the tub and one of our lights by the bed side was half on the wall. The all you can eat breakfast was mediocre at best, I had better at a holiday inn express. I do not believe I would try and stay here again if I was in the area.

The staff was limited, but was polite and accommodating. The only breakfast an available was a $12 per person buffet, no coffee in the lobby and no restaurant otherwise. There was a bar open Saturday night. It appeared that property hadn’t been updated or maintained in years. In our room the carpet was old, one of the 2 sinks had a nonfunctional hot water handle, that fell off in my husband’s hand. The shower curtain rod was bent and coming loose from the wall. One of the electrical outlet covers was loose dangling from the wall.
- 3/5
The bathroom door in my room would not stay closed. The room was a good size, bed and pillows were comfortable. This hotel has definitely seen better days
- 1/5
They gave us king bed room instead of 2 queen bed room even though I reserved for the 2 queen bed rooms. And I had to wait a lot to get extra rolling bed for my kid. And another long wait for extra comforter. I don’t understand why they’re so unprepared even though this full booking situation are fully expected every graduation season!

Location is good, parking is plenty We reserved a room with two queen beds, but when we checked in the room came with one king bed, and the front desk tried to say it was my mistake until I showed my reservation proof. They added a rolling bed into our room but the sheet does not look clean. The fan in the bathroom was making a big noise all day and we could not turn it off, Called the front desk but nobody ever came take care of it.

Property is dark, looks like it could use a remodel.

During graduation weekend- they had one person at the front desk who was unwilling to get towels for the customer- said she was the only person working and they “ran out” which is unacceptable. When I said it was unacceptable she said she didn’t know what she wanted me to do.
- 3/5
The area was ok, the staff did their job and the room was just ok. Bathroom had a sliding door so it did not shut completely. I didn’t care for that at all. As far as coming and going it was convenient.

Nothing Everything was too old and durty. The employees were badly trained, the room service was completely inexistent, air contioning too loud. Horrible place!!

Very poor

The elevators were slow and old. We were put in a handicapped access room (which we didnt need but i bet someone did) which had no closet and the phone didnt work. We moved to a better room but the elect in the bathroom didnt work and they didnt fix it
- 3/5
A out right for the price. Fairly well kept, just a little outdated.
- 4/5
The size and location of the hotel was good. The beds were comfortable. However, there were not enough elevators, just one for the entire property.

- 1.5/5
Beds un comfortable, cleanliness wasn't up to par, free internet wasn't good, etc.
- 2.5/5
It’s clean, centrally located to places I needed to go to. I called front desk twice to see about getting wash cloths because housekeeping ran out of the previous day when servicing my room and I didn’t have any, no one answered at front desk although someone was there. I saw them when I came in that morning.
- 3.5/5
Quiet location with easy access. The front desk clerk was not friendly.
- 3.5/5
I had a comfortable stay overall, though there were a few minor inconveniences. I had reserved a room with a king-size bed but was instead assigned a room with two queen-size beds. For the breakfast included with my reservation, I needed to stop by the front desk to request coupons, which I had expected to receive at check-in. The bathroom fan ran continuously, which made it a bit harder for me to fall asleep, and there were some nighttime noises—possibly from a nearby vending machine—that were noticeable. The breakfast selection was somewhat limited, but it was reasonable.
- 1/5
Front desk rude asf. Pool was and hot tub was dirty , bugs and hair , remind you it was inside pool not sure how it was dirty. (I booked for the pool for my daughter’s birthday) definitely do not recommend staying.
- 4.5/5
They had good amenities. Nice bathroom and room was clean. Windows had a crack. The mini fridge didn't work well.
- 1/5
Both Expedia and the hotel were awful customer service wise. My reservation was fully processed by the app, but the hotel said they couldn't find me in their system. After about an hour of asking for help by both avenues. I gave up and left for my event that we were now late for. I ended up having to find a totally different hotel at midnight.

The pool was under maintenance and so was the hot tub. The hot tub was warm but not hot. It also was dirty. The continental breakfast which is usually free at other hotels was 11.99 and not worth it.

Comfy beds Helpful staff Close to downtown Spacious rooms The room was a bit dinged up from the previous guests The two flexible lights above the bed weren't working
- 5/5
The breakfast is a paid buffet. Not worth the price for the food selection. On a bright note, the lady who ran the breakfast was friendly and the dining area was clean.
- 1/5
When I checked in I was sent to an empty room and then the next room had no hot water and my wife was late to our wedding because she had to leave to take a hot shower and get dress
- 5/5
Clean room , very comfortable pillows and mattress.breakfast very complete
- 5/5
The hotel is older, but well maintained and clean. Unique hotel, felt very safe and the area was nice. Did not have a freezer, but was perfect for a quick overnight stay.
- 2/5
Proximity to Duke medical was the selling point. Price was great but quickly found out why YUCK. Blood smear on the light switch in the bathroom. Walls, curtains and cloth around the bed frame stained. Carpets gross.
- 1/5
Location Staff was cold and unwelcoming, pool was in fact not heated even after calling to verify it was before had, hot tub was nasty, old, had paint chipping everywhere, fridge did not work, my car was vandalized on property and they didn’t care or do anything about it. Tried to charge me 5 times total after already being charged in full with a deposit! Smell of marijuana lingered all through the halls, staff was extremely rude. The only good thing was the location, my stay was a nightmare!
- 2.5/5
Clean facilities, good location. During my stay, a motorcycle club was also there and they were very noisy in the hallways. Around 11:30pm thru 2:30am the bikers were playing loud music and revering their engines during this time.
- 5/5
We came for a campus tour. The location was excellent, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Fantastic value. I'm hoping we have a reason to return, and I have added this hotel as the place we will be staying if that happens.
- 5/5
Excellent breakfast
- 5/5
Unfortunate by the time i came down for breakfast it had just finished 10 minutes before
- 3/5
They charged for amenities I didn't use and blamed expedia as the culprit.
- 3/5
I like that the place was pretty close to where I was working and that Uber fare really didn’t cost much for everywhere I went. I like the little exercise room. I was there for about 2 weeks for work and I didn’t like the rooms didn’t have microwaves in them instead I had to walk down hall to ice machine to warm up my food at that microwave there. Also the first week I was there the pool and hot tub were closed and when I finally was able to enjoy the hot tub I got paint or something all over my swimsuit that didn’t come out even now that I’m home and have washed it. I tried to wash out at hotel as well to no avail. If I stay at this hotel again I won’t wear a new swimsuit again.
- 5/5
It was great The fact the pool wasn’t in operation
- 2/5
I was lied too, the staff makes the property bad. Makes me not want to come back.

Sray there once a year. Each year the pool is closed and the bathroom has issues. Its good for business over night. Front desk clerk acted like she could care less about handicap in front of me in line and less about me.

Truthful info about the room and restaurants online, no microwave in room as advertised and restaurants were almost non existent. Curtains in rooms as seen from parking lot were hanging off rods.Did not check in, left property.

The room was excellent as usual. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only issue is that they required a $100 deposit on a room I had paid for already. I would be getting an amount back (everything except $20) but I am a mother of a college student and I stay when I drop her off to alleviate the 4 hour drive back at night. Sometimes I do not have the money to pay for a deposit—especially after paying for a room. Other than that policy, I really enjoy the stay and the staff.

The room was fine. In any other hotel I’d rate the room as a 8. The hotel itself was depressing. The pool and hot tub was pretty gross and not well maintained. Everything in the hotel lobby and dining area was as dated and not very welcoming. I can’t be certain but I think people are living in one of the wings and it sort of looked like a nursing home. Overall I will not be back. Not a fan

Bed sheet smelled terrible. Our room doesn't have a hair dryer. I dialed the front desk and it said "mailbox full" and nobody picked up. I went down to the receptionist to ask her "if our room doesn't have the hair dryer or is it missing one?" She casually responded: "what is your room?" Provided my room # "It is missing one then" She said: "I don't have one to give you now. If there is the security person, he'll find one in another room then knock on your door to give you one. The house keeping has it but they are not here." What a Joke!!! We'll never come back here again.

My experiences at the Millennium was not a good one. This hotel is on the list for patients and care givers of Duke Hospital. Considering we are at Duke means we are dealing with a hard live situation. I was locked out of my room due to an old door that stuck when attempting to close. I closed my door to leave and when I return the inside latch was closed on its own. It was late and there was no maintenance person available to assist. The security gentleman was a peach, as he attempted to assist the front desk agent to no avail. They both could not reach anyone on the phone to assist. Why is there not an emergency number for the employees is unthinkable. The front desk agent was graciously enough to offer a new room for the night. That was nice and all, but I did not have clothes, toiletries or my meds. I then asked the agent if I would receive an adjustment for the night. She attempted to reach her manager, who did not answer the phone. The next morning she advise me that the manager refused the refund. Why am I paying for a room that I was not able to access is beyond imaginable. I will be reporting this to the BBB, as the reason for my visit did not allow me to pivot to another hotel. I’m dealing with a family fighting for their life. This was a horrible experience. Please look forward to the BBB complaint as I think a financial reimbursement was not an unreasonable ask.

This was hands-down the worst hotel experience I have ever had, and that is saying a lot. The Millennium Hotel should be ashamed of the conditions they allow guests to stay in. My room had roaches, the entire floor reeked of stale cigarette smoke, and the space was literally falling apart. Basic cleanliness and maintenance are nonexistent here. It honestly made me question whether the room had even been cleaned between guests. As if that wasn’t enough, a package delivered to the hotel was returned opened, tampered with, and handled without any sense of responsibility or professionalism. When I tried reaching a manager about the issues — multiple times — management was completely unreachable, hiding behind “not available” or “in a meeting” excuses. I never got a single response, even after emailing the hotel manager directly And the final insult: when Expedia contacted the hotel to request a simple, reasonable adjustment for all of this, the Millennium refused to appropriately adjust my bill. Not even the bare minimum. No accountability, no apology, nothing. Then Mr Velker had NO ISSUES making himself available to charge my credit card when Expedia called. This place is dirty, mismanaged, and careless with guests’ property. Do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else. The Millennium Hotel is a disgrace to hospitality.

Check-in is @ 3pm. We arrived at 4:05pm and the front desk staff had a problem with the key cards. She called the IT dept and 20 minutes she was able to check us in. Then she tells me the room I reserved with a "king bed" was not ready, housekeeping is still cleaning it. Am I willing to take a room with two queens? No, that is not what I reserved. Once I arrived at Raleigh airport, I confirmed my check-in because I had to state what type of vehicle I was driving. This also asked if I wanted to check-in @ noon for a $30 fee. I am so glad I did not select that option. We were not given the keycard to our room that I reserved until 4:45ish. This was absolutely terrible and the front desk staff said she was going to address my dislike and the inconvenience I encountered, but I never heard back for any employee at the hotel.

If I could give this hotel a zero I would. My room had bed bugs and they gave me a free breakfast. What they should have done was not only give me a different room the second night, but also refund the room that had the bed bugs in it.

This is the dirtiest hotel I've visited. I found cockroaches in my room, the tub had hair in it, the toilet wasn't cleaned, and the hotel didn't even have my reservation information when I arrived. They also have a ridiculous policy of keeping your security deposit based on how many days you stay. Use some of that money you kept from visitors to hire a cleaning company; your hotel is disgusting. I will never stay here again, and I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

When I brought this up to the person at the front desk during checkout, his response was, “I don’t know anything about that,” which wasn’t very reassuring. Overall, the hotel felt poorly maintained, and the service didn’t meet the level I expected.

Good room for the price and location. The front desk was friendly. I had to ask for new towels and cups after they cleaned my room. The property could use a refresh. The hot tub is not working, the hotel should have listed this when advertising.

Beds as a bit too soft. There is no FREEZER! So couldn’t refreeze my cold bag for my Insulin and shots. They didn’t have a do not disturb sign. Maid came in despite we said no service. Didn’t make the bed or vacuum just took towels left is two No wash cloth. Also break fast I paid for was worse than fast food breakfast. Lady at the counter yelled at My husband when he went to a drink stand (he doesn’t drink coffee or tea). But today other were offered juice. Eggs are wet. Meat was good. Beautiful place needs tlc and better food Also hot tub is broken no one said anything. And we were supposed to have water bottles in our room we didn’t and person above us had window wide open smoking pot out of it. I am allergic and had a migraine so bad. Also. We called From Duke hospital. I was getting surgery. Used the shuttle. We’re told ar 3:27 it stopped at 3. Online and in a paper given to me it runs til 4 (same driver had a major accident Friday am making a left hand turn). I appreciate the shuttel a lot. But inconsistency in hours when it’s the way I can leave the hospital post surgery? My husband had to walk back to get the car to come Get me. But I got charged for amenities I couldn’t or didn’t have access to. As I said stunning property but very run down. Needs new beds at leave. Too soft.

The room was still occupied, the bed had been slept in and was umade. the shower had just been used. I was so shocked that after having traveled, it didn't occur to take photos. The concierge Eva was lovely, that the room was still occupied was not herfault. I want a full refund.

Wonderful. Will stay again!!!
- 4/5
The hotel location is very convenient for Duke events and very close to Durham downtown. Lobby is very nice, well decorated and maintained and our room was very spacious, with a well equipped bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion). The only negative part: the strong smell to chlorine in the lobby from the pool. I would request a room in higher floors for that reason. Ours was in second floor and it was perfectly fine. Overall, I am going to make this my to-go place for my trips to Duke! Great value!
- 2/5
The staff was nasty at check-in told me they didn’t have any rooms available then mysteriously found a room. She never made eye contact or even acknowledged me. Had I not already paid I would’ve went somewhere else.
- 2/5
I was very disappointed in my room and the customer service. I checked in Thursday evening to find no hand soap, body soap, or shampoo in my room. I called down to the front desk after checking in and was told that they had no soap at the front desk. So I asked when I would be able to get soap she said in the morning at 7. 7am roles around and I call down to the front desk no answer. I call again at 7:15 no answer. I go down at 8am and stopped at the front desk on my way out to find that they still did not have any soap or shampoo. I very politely explained what an inconvenience this was and asked if anyone would be able to help me. She said she would make a note and that there should be soap in my room when I get back. I came back after a long day at school around 5pm went right to the front desk. Asked for soap again… still no soap at the front desk. I was very frustrated at this point and considered leaving but decided to give it one last chance. She made a phone call and I finally was met at my room with soap, shampoo, and body wash. After checking in Thursday evening I did not have soap until Friday evening. So I would not recommend this place and will not be returning as I barely received and apology or any customer service around this situation. How can a hotel not have soap? Also the room smelled musty and the sheets barley covered the mattress.
- 3/5
we reserved a deluxe King. They gave it away before we got there even though we told them what time we would be checking in. The room was rundown. There was rot in the windowsill, and the bathroom was dirty. There was mold in the shower and bugs. The young lady at the front desk was very accommodating and apologetic. She did a great job. That was the best experience from the whole stay.
- 1/5
The pictures online are a misrepresentation of how filthy this hotel is. The carpets are coming up in every hallway and are stained black from mold on all sides. My room had stains (body fluid and other) everywhere. Every piece of furniture, doors, and walls were dented and stained. The place reeked of mildew and smoke. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and people were walking and playing music at all hours of night. I only stayed one night and checked out two days early. I’ve sent multiple emails to the manager with no response back.
- 4/5
Stayed on 3rd floor and room was completely quiet and able to be darkened to the point we were able to rest very well at all times of day. There was a couple of small issues but mentioned to friendly staff and they took care of immediately. It was a great and comfortable stay!

ridiculous. The breakfast was pitiful and a waste of money.
- 5/5
However, the hostel is dated, and while pretty much spotless, it is in disrepair. The carpets are worn, and bleached in places, counter tops are coming off the wall, television is out of date on the programming, with a line going up the middle...some kind of graphics defect, toilet paper holder pulled out of its bracket onto the floor, and one elevator was out of order, the secind one barely functioning. Most folks ended up taking the stairs. There are no designations as to what floor you are on in the stairwell. Thankfully, its only 4 floors!!! The hot tub was out of service, and the pool heat and filtration was off. I spent 2 days trying to get it unlocked. The staff on service had no clue as to why it was closed, but rumor had it that it was because of the short staff and the amount of business taken in for the weekend. Whew!
- 5/5
The room was huge and bed was very comfortable. The counter in the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest but everything else was clean.
- 2/5
didn’t see any kitchen
- 2/5
Front desk staff did not seem to care about anything, room smelled terrible and caused allergy issues the whole time, pool not heated as advertised, no hot tub as advertised as it was drained and no one knew why, lobby smelled sickening sweet aroma, not pleasant- will not recommend. Plus we have a random charge on our credit card with no explanation given.

The staff was nice but the hotel is definitely not like the pictures in the website. It's run down and not well maintained. The website lists breakfast included but they wanted to charge $12 for it and on top of that we went at 800 am (open to 10) and there was very little food on the buffet. The room was a bit smelly like old musky carpet. 2 of the bulbs burnt out so the lighting wasn't very good. We always look for hotels with hot tubs and there was no water in it and from the looks of it, it was shut down for a long time with zero intent to fix it. When we got there they were working on the elevator and we had to walk around to the backside to get to our floor. The bed was actually comfortable but the pillows were over stuffed or flat. For 3 of us they gave us 3 towels and 1 wash cloth. The second day we asked how keeping for more and they gave us 2 wash cloth instead. Seriously not kidding. Overall i would not stay again
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, lobby & room was clean
- 5/5
Our room was somewhat dated with the old school step in tub and curtain but the space provided more than made up for the noisy air conditioner.
- 1/5
Your paid reservation means nothing. They will overbook the hotel will leave you out to dry with no care and now I’m having to fight to get my refund. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
- 3/5
Humid room du to recent carpet cleaning. Carpet still wet from cleaning. Strong unpleasant smell
- 3/5
Nice hotel, bathroom had some peeling wallpaper and shower rod was curved and didn’t have nubs on it so curtain wouldn’t stay shut. Hotel area isn’t in the best area and parking lot lights were dim. Lots of iffy people hanging outside hotel.

I made the reservation and payment via Expedia but at the time of arrival at the hotel, they didn’t have any information about my reservation. The lady at the front desk was diligent and resolved our issue. The hotel charged my card despite the fact that I had already made the payment on Expedia. The room was dirty as well.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Mechelle at check in was absolutely rude and not helpful. They didn’t have my reservation from Expedia, she was no help in resolving the issue other than to tell me I had to call them. She was busy texting on her phone and kept walking outside while I was trying to resolve the issue.
- 1/5
Booked through Expedia and there was a lot of additional charges when we checked in. Room had a smell to it that was not great.
- 2/5
Didn’t look like the picture the room wasn’t clean. They gave me a handicap unit and nothing worked in there also I didn’t request that. It smell like mildew and urine so I end up changing the unit to a smaller unit that still did not look up to par. It wasn’t worth the money
- 2/5
The first room smelled of urine and a noisy air conditioning. The hallway carpet is stained and smells like vomit with occasional bleach stains in it from improper cleaning. The table cloth at the entrance table looked as if it had just been picked up off the floor (very wrinkled). The breakfast was good but we had to pay for it. Will never stay again
- 2/5
I didn’t like that is smelled like mold and that tile in the bathroom was cracked and broken
- 5/5
Clean room, helpful staff.
- 1/5
Tired, old and cockroaches.
- 5/5
Good!
- 3/5
Pool was closed, musty smell in hallway and room, lobby and front areas very nice, staff good, room old with no decor, put us in handicap room and not needed, no closet, hall carpets old worn, air conditioning units old and noisy, convenient to Duke
- 5/5
Loved my stay here!
- 5/5
Good hotel, reasonably priced and good location.
- 2/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful, however the fees and security deposits are ridiculous fir the quality of the hotel not to match. We received no hand soap in the bathroom just body wash, there are signs everywhere stating that smoking is not allowed on the property but there is no way if enforcement so there we people stinking up the grassy area with their tobacco addiction. The lot was filled with sketchy characters who were clearly not guests. Security and upgrades to the bathrooms would go a long way in making the price worth it. These are all ownership issues though, the staff was helpful and respectful.
- 5/5
Everything was great. My only complaint was the jacuzzi was out of service.
- 2/5
Smelled like 20 year old funk in the halls. The elevator smelled worse. We paid for three nights and left after the first night. This place is way past its prime.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 4/5
It is a nice property that needs some upgrades.
- 3/5
Some dead bugs in the halls, appliances sitting around in plain view of guests, musty smell in the rooms, a bit far from campus. Clean enough though
- 3/5
I liked all the amenities I wish they had better customer service and that they would tell you before booking that the hot tub is broken and the pool is not swimmable
- 5/5
Woke up to tiny ants attacking my nightstand table and my bed.
- 3/5
This is a hard review to write because the staff was friendly and professional and you could tell they really try to keep things clean. The unfortunate fact though is that this is a tired, run-down hotel. the carpets are worn, there is a musty smell throughout, and, while the rooms are pretty clean, they are also well-used and aged. I booked this hotel because it was so close to Duke Neurology, the reviews were good, and the pictures looked great. The pictures are obviously very, very old. Our stay was fine, but I would not stay at Millenium again.
- 4/5
The place was nice, but it did need a steam cleaning on the carpet and have a few more visitors.
- 5/5
Enjoyed my last in NC here. Everything was good
- 5/5
The property needs a complete renovation. The indoor pool is in bad shape no water in the hot tub the carpet needs to be replaced on and on
- 3/5
The first room gave me an allergic reaction, but they let me move to a different room.
- 1/5
YOU, Hotels.com, never sent my PAID reservation to the Millennium Hotel in Durham. I did NOT stay at this hotel. They would have charged me for a room because you gave them no record of my payment.
- 3/5
Bathtub knob was coming off and the bathtub backed up and was dirty and my husband killed 2 baby roaches in the bathroom. Also the curtains were dirty
- 4/5
Very dated
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay. The only negative thing is that your deposit is held for over a month. The pool area was nice and clean.
- 3/5
Outside was in good condition but the pool was dirty and hot tub broken. They have tables blocking the doors to the pool that are not working. Carpets are old and torn, stained. But for the price it’s tolerable.
- 5/5
Overall location was very beneficial
- 3/5
I'm staying at the Millennium only because my husband is in the Veteran's Hospital and it's the closest. Not because it's fantastic or neat and tidy. The rate is reasonable but not that well for the looks of their carpet in the halls.
- 2/5
Over priced and not in good condition.
- 3/5
My room was not pleasing. I requested King ended up in 2 queens room. Bathroom door would not close. Little coffee pot was nasty. Not a good experience.
- 3/5
Horrible smell. No overnight staff at all for emergencies.
- 5/5
The staff were amazingly welcoming and kind. Very comfortable stay. A dozen restaurant options less than 5 minutes away on quiet roads. Upper floors have been remodeled and improved. Our room was one on a lower floor that hadn't yet been modernized but we still felt it was great. Minor maintenance issues like the room number missing and deadbolt screws starting to come loose will get addressed as they complete the remodel, I'm sure.
- 3/5
Checking was seamless the first night. Second checking was ok.
- 3/5
I was not happy with this stay. I was booked through Hotels. com and when I got there it had 2 queens. They got it corrected. My room was on the first floor and was noisy at night.
- 3/5
Run down. But near campus. Cheap.
- 5/5
It was so pretty inside! The location might seem like it’s not but once you go inside it’s pretty!
- 2/5
Bit of a catfish stay if being honest. Upon checking in hotel lobby was amazing very beautiful, clean, and attractive. But that was the end of the road. When arriving to the room the hallways reeked of u pleasant smell and then the elevator was very dirty. Room was nice but still such a let down after seeing the lobby. I can tell the staff just spot cleaned after guest because all the crevices, gaps between the appliances, and bath tub creases were all dirty. Worst off all the hotel breakfast was terrible. Prolly worst then holiday inn breakfast. Was told that a server were to bring us beverages of our choice such as OJ but took the young girl working there like 10 mins to even get a glass of juice because she was talking to another employee. Mind you we were one of two tables that were there. Also the food being served was awful definitely did not meet the standards of what the hotel was trying to portray. Most of the food was cold, bland, or didn’t taste good. Overall decent stay definitely not my worst but for sure was a huge let down after the lobby.
- 5/5
The carpet could use updating. Other than that it is a beautiful place.
- 3/5
The smell on the third floor was horrible. Smell like someone was smoking, no cigarettes, but happy tobacco. Really set off my allergies.
- 4/5
Property location was good but a bit old and bed and pillows were too small.
- 3/5
Decent
- 4/5
Its quiet and in thw middle of the ways i need to go. Tge desk is nice
- 5/5
This is not the least expensive place to stay but it is the best place for the price especially if booked through Agoda.
- 1/5
could not turn off the fan in the bathroom
- 4/5
The overall visit was good. Staff was great. Room was as expected. Lightly outdated.. Hallway carpet and walls can be discouraging. Carpets need replacing and holds a strong smell on 4th and 1st floor.
- 5/5
It was ok the first room I had problems with it cause that room had bed bugs
- 5/5
Ease stay.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel… stayed 3 nights great experience 😎
- 1/5
dirty, roaches, dead spiders everywhere. do not recommend. the pictures are deceiving. also paid for a non smoking room and the hallways were filled with a very strong smoke odor. the area does not look safe.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
All was perfect but there was a strrong cooking smell in the hallways when we checked in.
- 5/5
Very nice place. Elegant. Comfortable sitting chairs in the room. Bed was super.
- 3/5
Received no receipt even after asking for it. Was told it would be emailed. Still have not received it.
- 3/5
Was not the cleanest place I have stayed. Bathroom door was broke and would not shut. Reported it and it never closed. Lobby water and coffee area was not cleaned up most of the day
- 3/5
Nice location.

I grew up in Durham years ago and this hotel had a great reputation then. Present day, it is completely different. I stayed there with several international visitors who came to town for Duke University's graduation. I was there for several days to address another issue. I am disappointed that this hotel is their impression of the US. It is old and the staff is not very helpful. I called the manager after I returned home about an invoice issue and he demanded to know how I got his cell phone number. I had to inform him that it is on the invoice for the hotel. He has offered no resolution to two overcharges for my stay in a noisy room next to groaning water pipes and a high-pitched elevator that woke us up several nights before we finally asked to change rooms. The hotel clerk exiled us to the rear of the property where we got no maid service. Finally, they have roaches in some of the rooms. I recommend seeking other accommodations.
- 2/5
I stayed at Millennium Hotel in Durham for two nights in mid May 2025 .The ceiling of the bathroom was leaking water. I took a short video but I'm not able to attach it, the only option is to attach pictures . I called the front desk and I let them know about the problem that I was having. The maintenance people came in to take a look, but didn’t get fixed.Nobody did anything about it.they didn’t even offer a different room.
- 4/5
Carpets need cleaning or replacing
- 1/5
Property was dirty. Limited staffing. Our room door looked like it had been pried open at sometime and never fixed. Carpets in the hallways were stained. Elevator in the back of the property didn’t work.
- 1/5
No one. Leaned the room while we were there we took out. The garbage. There was a cockroach climbing on the wall near the microwave and ice machine. I would not recommend this property to anyway. Also had to pay for an early arrival and an early checkout $45 extra each one never saw a copy of the hotel bill at all. Breakfast 11.95 and horrible.I would have checked out. Right away but there for college graduation and every thing was full. Very disappointed
- 1/5
Elevator had a high pitched noise the whole time we stayed there. Bar was never open wanted to charge me 3.75 for coffee. Cleaning staff barely spoke English and were trying to use google translate. No water peessure in the shower
- 1/5
I found i was doubled charged at the counter after prepaying on Expedia. Later I emailed the hotel reservation service but did not get any response till now. Poor customer service.

Best value in Durham and great proximity to Duke.

AC didn’t work in our room. Maintenance man came and tried to fix it. After we came back from dinner the room was even hotter. Went to the front desk to request another room, which we got, but STILL no luggage carts available so we had to move all of our stuff to the new room (no hotel employee offered to help). TV in the new room didn’t work. Maintenance man came the next day to fix it. Bathroom: clean but the door to the toilet/shower also is the door to the bathroom sink (which isn’t actually in the bathroom!), so if someone is using the toilet no one else can use the sink (or the rooms only closet). Weird. Elevator: the digital display in the elevator isn’t always accurate (display said ‘4’ when on the first floor). OTOH: great location. Quiet. Plenty of parking.

Would have like to have known about extra fees prior to check in

Few issues I had: -Microwave was located in alcove down the hall with the ice machine, not actually in the room as advertised, a nuisance but ultimately not terrible. -Parking lot was big but some areas seemed to be under renovation so I had to maneuver around tiles in parking spots along the back to not risk tire damage. -Main and secondary elevators could use a spritz of air freshener throughout the day, especially after room service has been through... the one towards the back of the building reeked of used towels/bedding. -Mini-fridge door opened in opposite direction of the cabinet it was inside, making item retrieval a bit complicated. -Light over the bathroom sink flickered, likely just needs replacement. -Bed sheets definitely did NOT fit the king-sized bed and any movement what-so-ever had the "fitted" sheet popping off entirely to expose a mattress cover with a tear along the side. I think, perhaps, my main complaint would be the lack of airflow from the AC system given the size of the room. Airflow from the fan-on setting was minimal in helping push cool air around the room. Had to crank the temperature down to 62 (which is usually freezing) just to feel any cool air at the bed

First time visit to Durham, the neighborhood was perfect for our visit to campus. There were a number of restaurants within a five minute walk. Parking was free and easy. The hotel seemed busy and popular but I couldn’t tell why. There was a stocked bar that never opened; our room was pretty dang dirty with cobwebs, suspicious burn marks on the electrical outlet / light switch, and the window looked like a Petri dish with organisms growing (hopefully) between the panes of glass. Yuck. We had to air the room out when we got there because of strong smoke smell. The staff just seemed bored and disinterested. Just a bummer on an otherwise positive trip

Average stay. Nice exterior, lobby, etc. Rooms were not as nicely upkept- crumbled dry wall around the bases of the wall, dead roach and stains in the hallway/ room entrance, etc.

It was a nice ,quiet comfortable getaway. Location was only 5 minutes away from the football camp my son was attending. Everything worked out great.

Upon arrival , after a 12 hr drive. We entered our room to find a broken toilet a long w the previous guests "gifts"inside the toilet. Staff did change our room and we were given complimentary breakfast vouchers. Breakfast was cold and could not find staff to get us juice. Glad we didn't pay for it. The photos online do not correlate w what the actual rooms look like. Carpet was terrible old and falling apart, shower was old and nasty. Pillows were old and clumpy. Had to go down to get soap because our "new" room had no soap. Very disappointed in our stay, next time we will choose a different hotel. Definitely a one⭐hotel. I am nervous to see what the actual charge will be as the girl at check in made mention several times to Expedia price is not there price and we have to pay the difference. What does that even mean? How can you advertise a price and then not abide by it? You may be hearing from me , when I see my credit card bill.
