    The room was wonderful. We didn’t really have to deal with the staff since we were just there for one night. I do wish they had more elevators local to the rooms. We did have to walk a little bit to find an elevator.

    I loved that they were able to give me an early check-in. I was able to go to my niece's graduation with having a little rest in the hotel room beforehand. They were also able to give me a room near the elevator. The room seemed clean (except for a spider in the bathtub), and the view to the courtyard with the pool was really pretty (but they do need to clean the windows a bit more). I felt really fortunate. Just the two things mentioned above, plus one more. 1. spider in the bathtub - although I wanted to take a bath, I didn't have the heart to move or kill the spider 2. the windows to the courtyard weren't that clean. 3. the phone didn't let me call down to the front desk or concierge (Room 3100), but I called the hotel from my cell phone and asked them to put in an order to have it fixed after I left.

    I checked in and received the digital key. When we opened the room, there were open luggages on the floor. Apparently there were other guests in the room. We quickly exited the room. They changed the room for us. There was a ladder in the bathroom of the 2nd room, with an open vent. Apparently they were working on something. The 3rd room was okay. The shower set was poorly maintained. Cold and hot water sign were opposite. We were too tired to switch for one night stay. Staff was friendly and quickly addressed our issue. I would probably not return to this hotel.

    Only stayed 1 night to run the La Jolla half marathon. Everything about this property was perfect. Staff were professional and very friendly. Great location. Definitely will be back!

    This property is in need of serious updating. The hallways have a cloying, awful smell like there is carpet freshener or something being used to cover a worse smell. It is horrible. Luckily once in the rooms you do not smell it too badly. We stayed here 17 years ago and can say the rooms have not been updated since. Great location and freeway access both North and South along the coast. That’s the best thing I can say about this property.

    Great location for Del Mar, close to the beaches, shopping and restaurants. Staff was nice, rooms were clean and safe. Rear parking lot could use some work. The lighting at night was bad, with several lights not working, and trash everywhere.

    Easy check-in, friendly staff, clean room. The air didn't work in our room, but we had a nice outdoor breeze, so we didn't worry about it. I did inform the staff when checking out. The food at the cantina is a bit bland and pricey, but convenient. All in all a good stay.

    Had dinner in restaurant, only request was “sauce on the side”…came with sauce all over. Ordered room service breakfast… fried eggs instead of the “scrambled” eggs that were ordered… and they forgot the toast! This was not a busy place.     This is an ideal location for getting around. Breakfast staff were great. Check in person took so long to check us in and then gave directions we couldn’t understand. Our room was the farthest away from restaurant and lobby. We stayed two nights and no room tidying the second night. Housekeeping missed our room. When I asked about this front desk just shrugged. At $500 a night I thought they could have done more than a shrug.

    Nice place with good location. Clean, updated and the staff were great. They kind of get you for everything though, including $35 for parking, $4.50 for a coffee in the morning and a $30 breakfast buffet. Beers are $10-$12. The outdoor area is nice with gas, fire pits, a nice hot tub and a comfortable courtyard. The rooms and beds are excellent.

    Room was clean. Armchair and foot stool were comfortable. I hated that I had to sign up for Hilton Honors for wifi. I tried and couldn't access it on my laptop. Made me a bit late for an online meeting. When I tried to call the staff using the hotel phone, I couldn't get through to the staff, so I called them using my cell. Also, there was too much overpowering fragrance in the hallways; it was uncomfortable to breathe it in. Moreover, a housekeeper checked me in, and I didn't feel that I could get to know the facilities- it was all rushed.

    Honestly very disappointed with our stay. Our room smelled like urine and it got worse and worse over time. I asked to change rooms and they said that no rooms were available… Room was dirty (comparing it to other hiltons I’ve stayed at). Overall it was ok for staying at the location but I expected better from staying at a Hilton… would’ve rather stayed at an Airbnb.. or another location for my boyfriends birthday.

    I asked for a tea bag from the front desk (they only leave one in your room on night 1) and I was charged for that; which I found to be crazy considering the cost to stay there. No coffee out for guests in the AM (most hotels offer it complimentary ) The hotel itself was nice and clean. Beautiful rooms and pool. Good location!

    Nice location. Second time I’ve stayed here. Very convenient for the little concert menu right by the hotel also. Big hotel make sure you figure out the best place to park to gain access in and out of your room otherwise you’re gonna be going for a long walks in hallways that are unnecessary. The rooms are fine nothing special but they have everything you need.

    The staff were great upon check in however both nights we could hear people walking in the room above us late into the night and we found toenail clippings on the carpet next to the bed from the previous guest. The breakfast was delicious and the waitstaff excellent. They need to put some sound proofing into the building you can hear the neighbors bathroom fan and they allow dogs and some dogs in the room down the hall barked a lot.

    Poor signs throughout hotel to find our room. Worst of all. The room smelled of mildew, the bathroom sink didn’t drain at all and the patio door was unlocked upon arrival which was really surprising and some strange loud buzzing happening outside my room for 10 minutes later in the evening. Add these things to the $35 parking fee and I’m not sure I’d stay there again. If I’m spending a decent amount of money for a hotel stay, these are things I would expect to have to deal with.

    Overall the staff was really nice! Didn’t feel like the property was that clean for almost $400 for one night. Stains all over the curtains from them cleaning the outside. Stains all over the inner sheets / comforter. Outlet cover was on the floor. Fire alarm had about 6 years of dust hanging off of it.

    We have stayed here a few times due to convenient location. The facility overall is pleasant and clean. Staff are friendly and the breakfast is good. Our room was comfortable and clean. The beds need to be upgraded, they are way too soft to give a comfortable nights sleep.

    It was close to the event The shower pipe smelled and made my hair smell for a few days. The room had a mildew smell. Pool closed early. The first person we spoke with didn’t really know how to find our reservation. The manager or someone else was able to ask the correct questions and help find the reservation.

    The amenities are nice, the front desk staff could take a note from the bar staff in the friendly department- but they're not working for tips. I was a bit floored by the additional fees after booking. Be prepared to pay an additional $50+ per night ON TOP of the portion you already pay for the stay. That was not a fun surprise. Overall, the property is beautiful, but the rooms seem 'thin,' and you can hear your noisy neighbors quite well.

    Front desk staff are great and let me check in early which I appreciated desply after traveling for close to 18 hours. Room was very nice and bed extremely comfortable (on the soft side which I love but know some people prefer firm) the only things I noticed that could have been improved were some staining on the duvet and curtains, and the shower fixtures desperately need an update. The taquitos were also over cooked and flavorless but all the rest of the food was great.

    The ordor on hallway was foul. Lumpy mattress in extremly small room, ADA shower was horrible, shower curtain too short, flooded bathroom floor. Wanted to charge for a view room of a tree. Parking fee excessive for self park $35.00, while valet was $40. Found that to be ridiculous. Would not stay again or recommend. Needs a total refresh of the rooms, no coffee maker, lno table, fee for water.

    Getting from my car to the room was terrible. Elevators not conveniently placed. I had to walk way too far, not easy for a 79 year old person. Check-in staff should be aware of that problem and assign a room closer to the elevator.

    I gave 4 stars as ran out of toilet paper on last day, super odd not an extra roll. Was surprised at $35 parking fee, that is ridiculous for people staying there. My fault for not reading the fine print booking through Expedia. No shuttle to Del Mar 2nd day we went, which was irritating to wait 25 minutes for nothing. Ended up taking uber there and walked back.

    Before I checked in, I thought I was gonna give them like 10 stars. Let me say the staff was very friendly. 100 percent to them. I paid around 500 for 1 night .. there was like severe corrosion on the mirror (see pic ) they were making beds in the hall (twice that I saw) weird . If you are in a room at the back be prepared for a hike .. no elevators just the emergency stairs..And sadly when I booked the picture showed a balcony .. we did not have one ( my favorite part of a room). all though I did book thru hotels.com so maybe Hilton’s fault ..but maybe hotels.com needs to change their pics. Sooo unfortunately not sure I world stay again.

    First off our room was dirty windows very bad black crap between the windows and on the window seals . Our bathroom had drips of something all down the front of the sinks, pictures in the room had marks on them where stuff was spilled down the front of them. Bath tub stopper broke they did replace that. The room was run down old. The spa was old and needed to be re plastered real bad. No air on in the hallways smelled musty and hot. The stairs leading out to the parking lot where filthy dirty. Beds where Lumpy. Our air conditioning broke they did come and fix it seems like they only keep the lobby and restaurants clean. The menu had only 6 choices on it nothing I would eat. Old coffee maker in The room not k cup like people use now a days. No microwave . We stayed two nights because we went to he horse races good location and free shuttle to the races and back. We won’t be returning not at the price we paid. I went to the front desk showed them pictures of my room that was not clean they said they will have someone deep clean the room. Maid tried to clean it but couldn’t get it clean at least she tried. The place like the guy said at the front desk it’s 40 years old. Think they need to go in and re do the rooms for the price 2 nights came to $900.00. I expected better. The valet was great nice people and quick. People at the front desk were very nice also.

    Staff is undertrained. They didnt program the keycard correctly, twice. I asked nicely if I could eat a deli sandwich i had with me given my family would buy dinner and drinks. The manager, Daniel, came out and said "thats a hard no.". Not even "sorry we are not allowed", just in a blunt and rude way. The beds and sheets ans towels are all good but the Hilton name used to mean something and it doesnt anymore. Chains like Loews kick Hiltons behind in service and training.

    My family of 3 stayed overnight for an event at the Del Mar fairgrounds. I called before we checked in and the front desk staff was friendly and answered all my questions. They were informative and helpful upon check in. The room was cozy and clean. The pool area was very nice, provided towels, had plenty of chairs, and beautiful fire lit lounge areas at night. We were able to walk to get dinner, and walk to the event, which was a huge plus. Check out was simple. We will definitely stay here again for our next event in Del Mar.

    Stayed at this Hilton for a short visit to SD. The property was clean and well managed. There was lots of parking and was a decent drive from many San Diego attractions. For the price and location, I would stay here again if you don't mind driving a little.

    We did not get our room serviced on Friday until after 4 pm and had to go to the front desk to get it done. There was some weird policy that if you had your privacy card out in the morning, you we automatically skipped. In our case, we took it off around 10:30, saw that housekeeper on our way out, and told her the room was ready to be cleaned. In spite of that, it was not done in a timely fashion. Very disappointing.

    I read the reviews prior to coming, but didn’t encounter any of the negative I read about it. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, the grounds were lovely. I’m not sure where I missed the extra charge for parking, but other than that it was a good value. I would stay here again

    Parking is $33/day which they don’t tell you until you arrive. There is a $50/night incidental HOLD that they tell you will not fully process unless necessary-but is processed upon checkout. Icing on the cake is that I paid for the stay upon booking through Expedia and the hotel still charged my card upon checkout. Still waiting for my almost $400 refund 4 days later.

    The reason I didn't give a 5-star is because of the exhaust fan in the bathroom. Whenever you turn on the light in the bathroom, the exhaust fan turns on automatically. It is so disturbing when you only need to use mirror or other things. It is so noisy especially when you go to bathroom during the mid of the night and the exhaust fan becomes so loud and scare to hear. This should be a simple fix. Just have a different switch for exhaust fan from the light switch. If you only need the light, then just use the light switch. I truly hope that the management team at Hilton Del Mar can make a change about this. I guarantee you that you will have more happier customers. I understand it is a cost to your balance sheet, but in the long run, it's worth the investment. Sincerely

    Hotel was very clean and had friendly service. Parkin was easy and the restaurant downstairs is so convenient. Perfect for walking to concert venues at Del Mar racetrack.

    On the other hand, on arrival, waste baskets had not been emptied from previous guests, and the room smelled like stale McDonalds. The shower needed serious maintenance, and the sink didn't drain. But I was more disturbed by the guest vandalism - a charter port glued into an outlet and a 1/2 eaten apple hidden behind a chair. But even with these issues, the plusses outweighed the minuses and we had an enjoyable experience - would come back.
