Reviews
Guests generally love the rustic, serene atmosphere of the cabins and the surrounding nature, appreciating the proximity to hiking trails, wineries, and local towns. However, some guests find the cabins small, outdated, and lacking in certain amenities.
- Scenic, peaceful location with easy access to outdoor activities and local attractions
- Friendly, helpful staff and well-equipped kitchens
- Cabins can be small, cramped, and outdated
- Limited or unreliable wifi/cell service and lack of modern amenities like TV

Our cabin was exceptionally clean & cozy, the details (local ground coffee in the fridge, eco-friendly dishwashing liquid, extra linens in a plastic bin, a dvd player that worked perfectly) were thoughtful, & the porch was a lovely way to relax after hiking & to sit & listen to the frogs.

It stated 3 lakes. Could only get to 2 and the cabins are located on one of the lakes that stated lake views from your cottage which is all grown up. A bit deceiving if you actually think your staying with views on a lake. There are plenty of deer to see.

The location is in the foothills of the mountains of Shenandoah national park. The property is gorgeous and there are lots of things to do, both on property and in the surrounding area. Right behind the property is a farm and the rolling hills were so beautiful. Beware it's gonna smell like manure when you're right on the edge of the tree line and the farm's barbed wire but it doesn't make it all the way to the cabins. I've stayed at cabins in the Shenandoah area before, and I was worried that the cabin would be dusty or drafty. No such case with the Magnolia cabin my fiance and I stayed at. It was very well furnished, it was exceptionally clean, and the window seals were solid. It was very well furnished with an A/C, multiple heaters and a box fan. The kitchen area had plenty of cups, pots, pans, and utensils. It was basically a hotel room with a better stocked kitchenette, even had complimentary coffee and tea in the big fridge. It was very cozy, and we had a direct view to the small lake they had on property. On the website it said that the wifi may be spotty, but I'm pretty sure there are wifi routers in every cabin, and the connection was strong and stable enough that my phone stayed connected up to 20 feet outside. The bathroom was very well stocked with towels, soaps and conditioner, and the water got hot quickly. There was a first aid kit, a blow dryer and extra toilet paper which was very much appreciated. The first aid kit had bug repellant wipes, bandages, gauze and other things for small injuries. The beds and couch were decently comfy as well. There's a small 20 (ish) inch TV with a Roku, so we could still watch Youtube and other streaming services. Multiple power outlets and power strips throughout the cabin. The only things that weren't the best are probably dependent per person. The road on the property is gravel and there are some tough spots to drive on. I have a sport sedan (an Alfa Romeo Giulia) and good thing I have AWD because the circle where the cabins are had a super steep, off camber turn. If you're not careful, or you don't have good visibility around your car, it is very easy to hit the small tree stumps that are right next to the gravel road. I'm 5'11" (legs torso proportionate) and 190lbs, the shower had barely any room to move around in. I bumped my head on the water control knobs multiple times while scrubbing myself after a hike. My fiance is a petite 5'7" 150lbs and she didn't have any issues in the shower. The toilet is squeezed between the sink and the wall and there isn't a lot of wiggle room for your legs. My brother is 6'6" and he would not be able to fit in this bathroom whatsoever. The sink is lower than my waist height so I had to bend over kinda awkwardly when I brushed my teeth. Bathroom's not tall people friendly unfortunately.

The place was beautiful. The cottage was next to a lake. It had a small grill outside and benches. Inside, there was a double bed, a bunk bed, and a futon. Bathroom had standard amenities. The kitchen was furnished with a oven, coffee maker, pots, pans, plates, utencils, fridge, glasses, and mugs, cutting board, knife, mitten etc. all you need is food that you can cook there. There's a small tv where you can log in your streaming services. There is a large gas heater and small portable heaters for the room. The welcome email has directions to the cottage, which was easy to track. low water pressure on shower and the place is a bit difficult to navigate at night due to darkness and scant lighting. The bed and the futon wasn't that comfortable.

Surprised clean, warm and functioning. Enjoy the stay in quiet and nature. Gorgeous stars in a clear night where it is completely far away from city and light pollution. Definitely will come back for a meditation retreat and longer stay. Nothing.

Lovely setting in a rustic (very small) cabin at the end of a lake. Fall colors were lovely. Very quiet. When we booked through Booking.com the price including taxes was one amount ($134) and the listing said pets were welcome at no charge. I texted that we were bringing an ESA and one pet and was told there would be a charge. I explained that the listing said otherwise. However when we arrived and checked in the property manager (Lisa) claimed a pet fee of $45 plus taxes ($51) plus additional fees bringing the total to almost $200. When I showed her the listing I was told that it was incorrect and I should take it up with Booking.

This was a beautiful excursion for me and my girlfriend. I think it could’ve been cleaner, at least for her. However, when you’re staying in a cottage out in the woods I think it’s probably tough to keep all of the outside from being inside. That being said there were minimal bugs and other things like that in my opinion. The amenities were plentiful, I had everything we needed to cook in our beautiful cottage. The availability of canoes, bikes, and more was awesome too. I will definitely bring the more outdoor inclined back here again.

The Pawpaw A-frame cabin was great for our group of three. The stairs to the loft sleeping are pretty steep, make sure you are going to be at ease with a middle of night descent. Cozy and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful and there is lots of information on local hikes in the office. Great stay!

Lovely barebones cabin (but you are in a cabin, it should be barebones). Check in was easy. The "lake" view we had was at the very end and was more of a "woods" view. There is a beautiful farm up the road so be prepared for cows mooing early in the morning and at dusk.

It was clean, there was plenty of hot water for the shower, and the bed was not terrible. But the cabin was in need of serious updates as it was shabby, musky, and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. It had two mini fridges and a mini freezer. Neither fridge was very cold even when turned all the way up. In the end, not terrible but definitely over priced considering the condition.

If you arrive after dark you may have some difficulty in locating your cottage. Also, be sure and bring your own food to prepare once your settled because there are no dining options available locally.

I love the rustic feel of the cottages and the small space is so cozy… To be able to walk out the door and go for a hike is the best part. Wineries are super close as well as some of the larger wineries maybe 30 to 40 minutes away. Crozet is also a great little town that has lots of concerts and festivals at their local breweries and cidery‘s great location, encapsulated by awesome mountain views

We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back! Such a peaceful place and everything had been thought of - the owners clearly know how to provide for guests and the atmosphere was excellent, too. A comprehensive guest guide, lovely facilities, easy to find but tucked away and close to the vineyards we wanted to visit. It was a calming, relaxed stay. Thank you!

Loved this find! I spontaneously wanted to do something special for valentine's day after what's been a very stressful year; this was such an awesome DOG FRIENDLY find! We were able to bring our fuzz ball with us (who loved the property, all the animals, and the dog cover for the futon 😉) as we toured the local wineries, explored Charlottesville and did what we love most -- stayed in a rustic cabin. The staff was super friendly and the cabin was the perfect unplugged getaway. The only thing I wished for was at least a broom to help tidy up from the insane amount of mud -- we would have loved to help!

The scenery and grounds are great...the cottages, not as nice. They're fine for a few nights but they're quite cramped with no place to really relax outside of the bedrooms, especially in winter. The walls in the cabin are also paper thin and strong winds can make it impossible to sleep.

This was a quite a vacation for family, disconnected from world and just connected with nature and private scenic beauty. Ample facilities to avail and enjoy. No rush for anything and a perfect semi camping experience for Citiy dwellers. Even our Pet enjoyed running outdoor in forest , trails without being bothered by fellow humans... night sky is absolute must watch and biking and canoe is must do activity. Loved the whole experience.

Loved the simplicity and the setting, with just the right amount of choose-or-not tech. Only thing I didn't like was no accommodation for someone short. I am five feet tall. I couldn't reach the shower head to re-aim it away from my face, the hook to hang up my towel, the upper shelves in the kitchen or the extra blanket. A little step-stool would be nice.
