There was no TV's anywhere and I do not remember seeing that on the site, but I may have overlooked. The house itself was nice, historical, but we were not overwhelmed by it, nor the lack of attention to customers by the owners. Very overpriced for what you get.

This was a disappointing stay. The accommodation and services I reviewed, booked and paid for were not what I got. First, I was unable to reach the owner prior to check in. When we arrived on time for check in, I was told the room was not ready and the owner was not thrilled that we brought our dogs, despite the listing describing this place as pet friendly. This was off putting, but not the worst part. We came back a couple hours later and this is when I found out the Deluxe room with kitchenette was no longer available, and we were put in a small room downstairs. At this point, my kids and dogs have been in a car all day and Im exhausted, so I think maybe the service will make up for it. WRONG, no mention of the champagne service or hors d'oeuvres from the host that night. And when I asked about breakfast, I was ignored. AT A BED AND BREAKFAST. The room was nice enough if I had traveled alone, but I booked my original reservation specifically for the experience/service and larger space. We were in town to visit a family member at Ft. Moore and I'd caution other military affiliated guests from patronizing this business.

I'll just hit the major points, First...even though at the time of booking it was advertised as a bed and breakfast...and our booking stated breakfast included, we received nothing. Not even coffee! I texted the owner the night before about the details for breakfast. It took her 10 hours to respond, only to tell us they aren't serving breakfast and she'd be happy to recommend restaurants and coffee shops. Second...we were only staying one day. Since we weren't being served the advertised breakfast or coffee we decided to just pack up and leave. We went to take a shower and the hot water in the shower didn't work. I messaged the owner at 9:10 am. She messaged me back at 11:52 am. Mind you, check out was at 11:00 am and we had already left the property. So beside no breakfast and no coffee we also had no shower. We were staying at the cottage across the street. The owner may say texting is not her preferred method of communication, but seriously..its 2022. We're across the street, not in the same building. If she can get a phone call she can get a text. On top of all this, the hot water and the lack of providing breakfast were all known issues to the owners. Just read the other bad reviews about it. You're now for-warned...and I'm not even telling you about the lack of cleanliness (for which we have pictures) or her insulting text messages (which are still on my phone). Can't wait for their snarky response

Read the fine print. Must contact the hotel at least 24 hours in advance to make arrangements for check in. Have no idea why this property is available on Expedia for same day bookings. I made a reservation for same day check in and no one was at the property when we arrived. My phone calls went straight to VM. I received a call from the property 2 days later. Fortunately we were able to make reservations at a different nearby hotel otherwise we would have been stranded.

Was a very nice Victorian style unit. I did not get the room that I booked. Needed to ask for toilet paper as only a small amount was on the roll. I did find a cob web on the headboard. Overall was a nice stay however I thought It was a bread n breakfast and it wasn’t

Attractive Victorian house but they did not know we were coming. Two hour delay in check in. We were shown our lovely room and that was all we saw of our “host”. No internet password if we needed something there was no one to contact. No access to the public space, no morning coffee and NO BREAKFAST at a true bed and breakfast. In the morning we just left our room with no contact with anyone Not sure why I spent the extra money to stay here I feel ripped off

I'd characterize this place as delightfully quirky. The neighborhood is scenic and historic, quiet, and seems quite safe. All or part of the main house is closed for renovations, so I was in one of the cottages next door, accessible via a path behind the house. My room was to the left, and another was directly across from me. There was also a small patio table on the deck outside where I sat and read one day during the rare pleasant Alabama weather (before it gets unbearably hot). The staff was helpful and friendly, and the owner always responded to messages. If sometimes it took a little long to actually get what I'd asked for, I'm fairly certain it's because they're short-staffed like everyone else in hospitality right now. I had no trouble checking in. The owner never did text me instructions, but she was on site when I arrived so there was really no need. Since it says toiletries are provided, I didn't pack any myself and there weren't any in the room when I got there. But I texted her, and she brought me what I needed even though it was 9 or 9:30 by then. In any case, I enjoyed my stay, and I hope I can go back and see it once the renovations are finished.

I am not sure if they rated this hotel 100 years ago but in this time line, a hostel is a 5 star compare to that death trap of place. Customers service is none existence. That place need to be shut down. The owners have given up on the upkeep and disregard all complaints. Read all reviews but my recommendations it to stay away. Do not waste your money and forget about the breakfast. Their is none and the place is filthy, you wouldn't want none anyway.

We were unable to stay at the Inn due to there not being anyone on the premises when we arrived and no answer to our phone calls and messages (even after waiting two hours). We then spent about an hour on an online chat with Expedia trying to get a refund and are still awaiting a response the next day.

i thought i would have a room in this house, as the picture on the left shows; i was never allowed in this house, and was told to stay in some little home; it was okay, but i was looking forward to staying in where this picture is; and you also promised a breakfast, and there was NO breakfast; and i even had to ask for coffee; there was a tv, with cable, but you had blocked fox news!!! how dare you! what is going on there??? and i never really saw anyone associated with the hotel after i checked it, rather strange; overall it was okay, like the history of the place, the location, and the unique shotgun house; so....1. undo the blocking of fox news, 2. have breakfast as you promised, 3. floring in the bath should be looked into....

Pretty disappointed. We stayed in one of the cottages and not many things worked correctly. The toilet leaked so it refilled every few minutes the entire stay. The tub dripped, the front door handle didn’t work, the shower light didn’t work, and the bathroom door had been chewed extensively by a dog at some point. It just didn’t seem like there was much attention to detail. Very dated but not in a cool restored way. The mirror hung over the fireplace was so off center it was comical. Overall we were really disappointed.

The property was not as represented. The location was great however the property was in need of repair. We did not get the room we booked. The proprietor said we were upgraded to a cottage. Sounded good until we arrived. There was mold on the bed pillow. The thermostat control face was broken off and when we managed to turn the heat on, the dust was annoying. We checked and the HVAC register was Clogged with dust and there was no filter. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the shower floor was in need of a good cleaning. The only closet in the property had a broken door handle making it nearly impossible to open. The toilet ran all night until I shut off the water supply. We were told no breakfast because we were upgraded. It would have been nice if this were communicated prior to arriving. The unit had a full kitchen unfortunately there was only 1 coffee cup. The proprietor seemed very nice and welcoming on the phone but when we pointed out the shortcomings and decided to check out, she told us that the mold was just a stain, and that we were too pickey. We paid for one night of our 4 night stay and checked out. The manager did authorize a refund for the remaining nights. I suspect the proprietor doesn't have the resources to keep the facilities up to code. It is very unfortunate because the location is very good and the property has lots of potential.

*The toilet ran constantly. When we arrived, the toilet was shut completely off. I turned the water back on from the valve behind the toilet and the water ran continuously. We had to keep the bathroom door shut to lessen the noise it made. *The television didn't work. There was no remote to the cable box and no batteries in the television remote. They brought us a cable remote but to turn the tv on, you had to get up and switch it on at the tv. *There was only one bar of soap left in the bathroom. We had to ask for another bar of soap for the shower. There were no small bottles of shampoo left either. *The handle for the hot water in the shower broke off. You had to jam the handle back in to get the hot water to turn on. *There was only one roll of almost used up toilet paper left in the bathroom. We had to ask for more TP as well. *We never received check-in or check-out instructions. I walked into the B&B after arriving there and had no idea where I was supposed to go. After calling three times, I got somebody to answer the phone and direct me to which room I should go to. When I voiced my disappointment regarding our experience, they suggested that I might should find another place to stay in Columbus. The toilet and shower handle were never fixed.

We reserved the J S Springer cottage, a stand alone 2 room plus bath unit, and were required to prepay for it. When we arrived we told them we had reserved that .cottage and were told we were getting a 1 room suite with no explanation and no refund of the lower priced room. we received 1 wash cloth, 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels and never received replacements during our 3 day 2 nite stay. several lights did not work and the electrical outlets next to the sink and mirror did not work even with GFI buttons. No drinking glasses/containers and no ice available/provided. There was supposed to be an iron & ironing board in the room, but there wasn't. When we asked for one right after check in we didn't get it until after breakfast the next day when we found it outside our door upon our return. The place was very clean and the atmosphere was pleasant.

It's a beautiful place don't get me wrong but it does need a deep cleaning I got bit by two brown recluse spiders I believe I had to go to the doctor when I walked into the room it was very hot and muggy and it smells very old there was four inch of dust everywhere the bed even felt moist the lady had no concern for me being downstairs he came downstairs and literally turned down off all day AC slam the door at 3:30 in the morning then walked upstairs to her room that was obviously right above mine and stomped and complained until 5:30 a.m. I wouldn't recommend staying here

Lovely place in a fine neighborhood. We had a nice room in a bungalow behind the main house. Lovely happy hour and full breakfast on the front porch, under shade trees and accompanied by the resident house cat. Owner was engaging and helpful. The house is lovely, very nicely maintained and furnished. Much attention to detail. Fully recommended. We also had a lovely dinner at Epic restaurant- also recommended.

On the plus side, the owner was welcoming and fun to converse with! She made an excellent dining recommendation and made the reservation for us. This B and B is the only one I found in Columbus and would consider returning if more attention is given to the property.

This is an amazing historic house built in the 1800s but fully renovated with modern comforts. Fresh donuts, coffee/tea, yogurt and juices all complimentary. We left the fireplace in our room on all night. They had fresh flowers in our bedroom and our bathroom. We sat on the balcony and enjoyed our drinks under the full moon. I felt like I was on the set of Downton Abby

My only disappointment was I reserved the Springer Suite because of the king size bed, separate sitting area and because it was a standalone cottage. Unfortunately, I was moved to another suite that was inside another house and had a choice of either a double or queen sized bed. Both rooms were lovely and inviting however, it was disappointing to not receive what I had reserved and paid for on the reservation. Everyone at the property was welcoming and accommodating...I would return to the property in the future.

I think because I needed two separate beds, my room wasn't as nice as the others. Room air instead of central, pillows were very dense...I wanted to love the house because too few of these homes are kept in such wonderful condition. Although the web site I used said breakfast, it is not a full breakfast. The site also said I had a fireplace, and private balcony. Not the case, although some rooms do.The owner was very friendly, along with the custodian who gave me a tour. As I said, I think most of the rooms deserve a better rating than mine from what I saw. Also don't expect housekeeping!

It cannot beat it's location. It was quiet and within easy walking distance of the historic area & main attractions. And, if you are into places with character, here it is. If you are looking for modern conveniences such as internet, we only got internet while in main house, not in the cottages. And there had been no real place to hang wet towels. Staff are friendly and ready to give you information when they can.

The night before my wedding, I thought it would be great to have one last sleepover with my best friend, matron of honor. I decided the Pound House would be a great place to have a unique experience rather than staying at a regular hotel. Everything was ok, until we decided to settle in for the night and go to bed. We heard scratching sounds that sounded like they were coming from within the walls or inside the ceiling. We weren’t sure if it was a cat or some sort of animal outside of the house, or some sort of animal with in the house. Unfortunately, we decided to leave around 11:30pm and go stay somewhere else. There was no way we were going to be able to rest.

Property was in the historic section of town and very close to downtown. Just a few blocks away was the less desirable part of town. Very limited breakfast , no toaster, no hot foods, ice machine made very little ice.. there was a hole in the wall where they were working on the tub, the smoke alarm in the bedroom was hanging loose by the wires in the bedroom, there were heavy cobwebs and a large spider above the shower, a hole in the ceiling about the size of a dime above the bed, If you wanted the change the volume on TV you had to do it at the TV, the remote didnt work or was the wrong one for the There is heavy small gravel around the main house for a walkway and you had to drag your luggage through it to get to your room. I give it a 3 star out of 5 rating,,, wont recommend it to people and wont go back.. Staff was nice, but place needs some work..

My wife and I had reservations at another hotel but we happen to see this Bed and Breakfast. It was totally awesome. The only negative and it was not really a negative was we had to ask for bottles of water. However, I asked if they had any water and it magically appeared. Milk, juice and yogart was always available. We will definitely go back to this Bed and Breakfast. Oh and I must say that "Marty" was certainly so helpful and very much knowledgeable about the Rothschild-Pound House. Thank you Marty and I hope to see you again soon.

The location is quiet and walking distance to one of the best downtowns for a town this size. We plan to come back. Next time we hope to meet the caretaker/owner. We never met anyone "in charge" to introduce ourselves or get the Wi-Fi password.

There were a lot of unique and neat things about the is bed and breakfast. Unfortunately the upkeep was lacking. Lots of areas that took away from the experience like missing outlet sockets, bathroom areas that needed recaulking due to discolored old caulk, some wood rot (not totally uncommon for historical bed and breakfast inns), wet paint including some that got on my clothing. Lack of signage to help with check in, lack of staff to check in in the first place. A bed and breakfast is not our traditional check in but there was no signage anywhere and repairs and/or remodeling everywhere. In the end it was like a Hall and Oates song "so close but so far away." Hopefully they will complete the repairs and remodeling because it has so much potential.

It was charming and tastefully decorated. We had a late check in and was given good instructions on how to find our suite. It was centrally located and easy to find.

The location was great. The owners were very nice to let us check in early (2 vs 3), which we very much appreciated. It was a little surprising to enter and find the first floor public rooms were being painted/renovated and unavailable for use. I realize this is a historic house, but things were a little on the shabby side. The curtains in our bedroom were very faded and torn. I appreciate that there was a refrigerator in the bedroom but felt a little nervous about using it. It was perched precariously on a cabinet/shelf and every time I opened the refrigerator door it shifted forward since it wasn't completely supported by the shelf. We have stayed at many historic homes turned into B&Bs and this was less than expected. Breakfast was packaged fruit cups, packaged honey buns, packaged cereal, Keurig coffee. They did have fresh oranges, juice and milk which was nice. The people were very nice and very friendly, but our expectations weren't met. If we had been staying for more than one night, we would have made other arrangments.

One of those unique situations where you get a lot more than you expect. Rooms very comfortable what's nice amenities. Mine had steam shower jacuzzi jet tub, kitchen area and separate Master with king bed. Place is overflowing with character. Walking distance excellent nightlife and Retail. Will definitely stay again.

Staying in a building built in 1800’s was really cool. The woodwork, drapes etc were awesome! The Morning hostess was a world class lady who blessed us with southern hospitality!

Maybe my worst experience ever. I would like to know if there is any way to get a refund. The listing is fraudulent, and in no way is this a 4 star hotel. First and foremost, there was no heat. The room was freezing. The temperatures reached 34 degrees. We could not shower in the morning due to the lack of heat. A freezing cold toilet is also difficult to handle. The staff added two space heaters, which are not safe on carpet btw. There is a coffee maker, but no coffee. The room reeked of mildew. I have asthma, and could not tolerate this. My inhaler had to be used frequently. Cobwebs were all around. The keys I was given did not fit the lock for the door, so we could only lock the room from the inside. The wifi barely works. This is extremely inconvenient if you have any kind of business to attend to. Other issues include parking. The listing says that there is free parking, but it is street parking, and it is very difficult to find due to the busy restaurant across the street. The listing says TV with digital channels, which is true, but please note that it is a 30 year old Zenith. The listing mentions that front desk staff can assist, but as soon as I was shown the room, the staff were gone for the night and the office was locked up tight. The listing also mentions a bar and a lounge - these does not exist. This listing should removed from Orbitz immediately, and I demand that I be refunded.

We got to the Rothschild Pound House Inn at 4:30pm. There wasn't anyone to check us into our room. I called the number at the desk and on the building 4 times and it went straight to voice mail. Finally, another guest, suggest we put our things in an empty room so we could go to dinner. Two hours later, at 6:30pm the owner of the house called me and asked "did you have a reservation?" I said yes, and you should have a deposit into your account for $270 for the overnight stay. She put me on hold and found my reservation. She then said she would up grade me to the king suite. The king suite was nice, however for $270 a night, I would expect toilet paper, kleenex and coffee for the in room coffee maker. It was my Christmas gift for my mother and her first stay in a bed and breakfast. I was pretty disappointed.

This was a great property and has a lot of potential. The staff was very friendly and accommodating especially since we arrived very late at night. Unfortunately, the room we reserved didn’t have heat and the fireplace and space heater wasn’t enough to make the room warm enough to even sleep in. We took a quick shower after our long trip looking forward to a hot soak in the jacuzzi tub but there wasn’t enough hot water. The shower curtain was covered in mold as well. Mold was also on the walls, ceilings, and hallway. You can see where they tried to paint over it but it was coming through. Major health hazard. Needs mold remediation and renovation.
