Not much to look at from the outside, but surprisingly nice inside. Clean and had all the amenities needed. Bed was a little hard. Bonus was the really comfortable, large rocker.

It had power and internet You could feel every spring in the mattress, it was loud anytime you rolled over. There was only one horrible pillow per person. The refrigerator was disgusting. The bathroom was gross and had hair on the shower wall and in the drain and the floor of the tub, barely any outlets and it smelled as mold. The shower just sprinkled water on you.

Good location, easy checkin. Romm was clean. Staff needs to be present. I went to check-out at 9am and the door was locked. Walls are also paper thin.

It's an older property, but the things that matter are updated and it was very clean overall. The one negative was the exterior lighting of the building stayed on all night and was extremely bright, and the curtains were incapable of keeping it out, so it leaked into the room a good bit.

Location is very good. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. Would stay again. They have signs in room and on windows promoting breakfast but there was nothing available in their lobby. NOTHING. :( Rooms were clean but could use remolding upgrades in bathroom areas. Toilet (while water refilled) and bathroom fan were rather loud/noisy.

This appeared to be owned and operated by a couple who were extremely friendly and accommodating. We arrived in the 1 am hour, and the doorbell went directly to the owner to come let us in. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location was close to Clemson University and had shops, gas and restaurants right around the corner. The building, room and linens were clean. The air conditioning worked very well and was not noisy. The water pressure and temp was just right. For our quick 2 night stay to visit people in the area, American Inn was comfy, convenient and reasonable. Our dislikes were few and easy to fix. A large stain on seat of one chair and dust bunnies between night stand and bed. Mostly breakfast was not served as advertised. Even with health concerns (signage posted) prepackaged breakfast foods with coffee and juice could/should be available to guests each morning.

If you want to save some money and just need a bed to sleep, then the accommodations are fine. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom decorations and furniture look like it is from the 1990s. Orbitz advertised a breakfast and they aren't doing breakfast because of Covid.

That said, I was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely a true budget hotel but everything was clean and well taken care of. Zero amenities other than the ice machine but as long as you balance out the cost relative to the other options in Clemson, it's actually a bargain. I've stayed in probably 7 other hotels in town in the past year as my son is a sophomore at Clemson, and the prices can get crazy depending on the weekend. I'd stay here again ... just need to be okay with the lack of amenities and it being a true motel.

This was a quick trip to drop of our daughter at Clemson. We needed a place to sleep and check out early the next morning. The location of this motel is very close to the west (stadium) side of campus. It is very basic, clean, and adequate.

I ended up deciding to stay an extra night so I went through hotels.com like I did for the first two nights but was told I still had to check out at 11 and check back in at 3. On top of this I was charged an extra $20 for checking out of the room at noon instead of 11. Then when I checked back in I was put back into the same room I had just checked out of. Never in my life at any hotel I’ve ever been to, have I ever been told this. I will NEVER stay at this location again!!

It's an older hotel. The bed was comfortable. Some minor cosmetic issues. Seemed clean. Smoke smell, so if that's an issue for you beware. Just fine for the price. Consider staying here and support and family owned biz

We just needed a room for the night before my sister's graduation. Great location/room for the price. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

The motel is older, but the staff was very friendly. Due to availability I had to book a smoking room at the last minute, but was surprised to get a non-smoking room at check-in...a huge plus. The room and furnishings were worn and motel basic, but the room was very, very clean. I was prepared for the worst and brought blankets (never trusting bedspreads in general), but was genuinely impressed with how clean the room was given the age and rate. For football weekends, I spend all my time with friends and family on campus, downtown or at the game. I just need a motel as a place to park the car and sleep. Clemson is such safe place, and all the other guests were here for the game, that I had none of the worries I would have with this type of motel somewhere else. Best advice - temper your expectation, accept it for what it is and remember you're there for a football game and not a hotel stay.

We were a bit nervous about staying here after reading several poor reviews, but they were over a year old and the management responded appropriately. Our room was very clean and the hotel staff were very helpful. We had requested a ground floor due to mobility issues and they had assigned us a second floor. This was the night before the total eclipse. They found a first floor room for us and did not charge the upgrade. They were fully booked so they were very helpful.
