Motel 6 Chula Vista, CA - San Diego

Hotel room phone didn't work. It was replaced several times the Wi-Fi was terrible. I didn't even have towels or comforters. The bathroom for that handicap was broke. So you couldn't sit on the board. There was a hole that was stuck with over in the tub. There was no rail to hold your towels on the door lock was broken. It was holes in the furniture cigarette holes in the sheets

Nice front desk staff and cleaning lady. They were very professional. RIGHT NEXT TO public transportation/Blue Line light rail. However, I was placed in room 241 first and quickly found the toilet FILTHY, with a broken toilet seat that swiveled and caked on dark brown urine in between the seats and bolts. NASTY. Then, the toilet wouldn't flush on top of that. It was backed up! Wanted to dry my hands, no towels! Tried calling the front desk from the room, phone didn't work! So 5 minutes after initially entering, I walked back down to the front desk & complained, was changed to room 312 which was better..BUT! The bed sheets had HUGH STAINS and what appeared to be black mold spores or something they'd tried to wash out to no avail. Also, there were STAINS on the towel rack, the bathroom wasn't very clean, and the fan in the bathroom didn't work! And, AGAIN, NO TOWELS! On my second call to the front desk in 10 minutes, this time I got an answer, a cleaning lady came up (Esmerelda) whom was very nice and changed my sheets and gave me new pillows, She didn't clean the towel rack, but I forgot to mention it to her (front desk apparently didn't tell her either). DRUG ADDICTS ABOUND here as well. For $124, I can't recommend this place.

I don't think they should be working there at ALL!!!! I even called CORPORATE office to file a complaint about these two guys.I suggest people stay in another Motel, it's Ghetto!!!! At my arrival as I open the door to enter my room, the room was clean how ever there was no towels in the shower, only two very small soaps, no shampoo and no blanket on the bed! when I called the office they said there was no one that could bring the towels that I had to go get them my self.

The exterior was well maintained. It was right off the freeway and surrounded by places to eat, get what you need etc. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Ok listen, I have basically never had a real complaint about a motel. So the fact that I have something negative to say means it was bad. I’m not a germophobe at all and I was grossed out beyond belief. The shower fixture was ready to fall off the wall and the faucet leaked noisily all night. The vent didn’t work so the room became more humid by the second. We walk in and it reeks of dogs and cigarettes. There’s NO drawers or anything to unpack into. Little to no surface to set things down. One tiny trash can. The floor was FILTHY and everything (not an exaggeration) was covered with long black hair. The toilet was dirty and grubby. There was a mouse poop on the wrapper of the extra toilet paper roll and I’m pretty sure there was more around the edges of the floor, I tried not to think too hard about it. Bathtub was also covered in hairs and dirt. Essentially it had never been cleaned. Even after cleaning it myself I felt the need to keep shoes on because the floor would turn your feet black and held all the humidity. Then comes the night time and the place was noisy all night. Paper thin walls. Feet thundering through the floor from above. Nothing blocking noise from people walking past your door. Also it’s next to the train so horn honking like every half hour or so. Also the pillows were old and clumpy and tiny and needed to have been replaced a thousand years ago.

I was scared to death. There were people hanging around the property smoking drugs. The room had a stinky stench. I had to clean the table and chairs that clearly had dirt and horrible smells. I did not want my great grand kids to touch anything. I had no idea I was going to be in an area like this! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Thank God I had gloves and Lysol.

We recently stayed there for the weekend. The beds had body impressions as they were dip deep into the mattress. The pillows had no cushion in them. There was no towels in our restroom thats we had to request for them and no shower mat to prevent slipping hazard. Def need lots of improvements.

The stay at motel 6 was a complete mess, pee stains on the mattresses, think smoke odor on the nonsmoking rooms, floor sticky, sheets have cigarette burns on them, blood on the shower curtain and no towels, no shower mat. I talked to the front desk and they acted like I was asking them for a miracle.

Nothing. It was DISGUSTING. I walked into the room and there was garbage on the ground, there was stains on the comforter and the sheet. No towels or anything. When I called about it all, they brought me towels and a blanket, the blanket had a HOLE and they don’t even take the stained items. The TV was about to fall. It was horrible and disgusting. Cops were there three times.

Nothing. Almost canceled Arrived to a locked lobby unable to check in for almost an hour. The room was not prepared with fresh linens we had to ask for towels. The pillows are literally plastic. There was dust everywhere and the toilet seat looked to have been broken and repaired poorly several times. The toilet paper roll had what appeared to be dried bloody finger prints on it.

The room appeared fine until I went into the bathroom where there is no light unless you figure out the switch is near the kitchenette. Toilet tank cover is too small for the tank. No caulking around shower/tub area caused a huge puddle on the floor. These were nit a big deal but the extremely old spring mattress was horrible. The next morning when I lifted the sheets and looked at the mattress it was disgustingly brown and the springs hurt pretty bad. For a deluxe room at that price it should have been a lot nicer and cleaner. Was worried about bed bugs but I think it was not bed bug bad.

absolutely nothing. I hated every single minute being there. There were cockroaches in our room, I paid for a queen bed and they gave us a twin size room. The room didn't have towels, I waited three hours for one towel. The receptionist didn't understand english and therefore couldn't communicate with us properly leading everyone to stress about our stay. We had a 4 day reservation and spoke to their manager about our arrival being one in the morning, he confirmed and notified us that, we had until 4am to get there. When we arrived at 1am, he had given our room to someone else and made it seem like we never booked a room. We even reminded him of the conversation we had prior to us arriving and he said he didn't remember. He blamed it on customer support, but when we called back he answered the phone in front of us. The first room had roaches coming from underneath the were mini fridge. The second room was not cleaned properly and looked like there were blood stains underneath the lights and inside the bathroom toilet.

The main thing this faciltiy had going for it was its cleanliness. Clearly, the owner cares very little about the facility or assumes certain things about the clientele. I went few hours ahead of check-in yesterday to see if I could leave perishable item there rather than in my car since was a very hot day. No. I asked if I could use the toilet. No. (A customer directed me to McDonald's next door.) When I checked in later in the early evening, I saw there were no towels in the room so I had to return to front desk for them. A first in my over 50 years of traveling all over the world! This morning I saw there was no garbage bin so I took the trash with me and there were tears in the furniture. Like I said, the only good thing was cleanliness and only need I had was one overnight sleeping accommodation. Phew!

The surrounding area felt unsafe, with frequent noise from a nearby MetroLink train. During our stay, we observed concerning activity on the premises, including individuals requesting very short-term room use and others loitering in the parking lot in a manner that raised safety concerns, including suspected prostitution. The condition of the room was unacceptable. Upon arrival, the bed linens were visibly dirty and worn. Despite notifying the front desk twice, the issue was not properly resolved, and staff appeared unaware of our prior requests. Additionally, the shower showed signs of mold, and the overall condition of the room was clearly run-down. Amenities were extremely limited. Guests are provided with only one bath towel, one hand towel, and one washcloth for the duration of the stay, regardless of occupancy, with additional towels available only for an extra charge. Basic toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner were not provided. Furthermore, the television and in-room phone were nonfunctional. Overall, the property is poorly maintained and lacks adequate attention to cleanliness, guest comfort, and customer service. I would not recommend staying here.

I first noticed how dirty the floors were when i stepped into the shower and i had dirty footprints...i walked from the bed to the bathroom. The queen bed was actually a full with one pillow. Went to Walmart and bought a pillow and a few towels being they had none available. Motel 6 used to be a cheap clean place to stay, this is the last time for me. It was 100 bucks, but not worth the savings. I've had prison beds sleep better.

The phone was non operational. There were homeless looking people all over the property. There were people drinking outside their rooms. Someone there a large drink from the top floor. I don't think the room had been swept in quite a while even less mopped. The toilet seat was broken and loose. The remote control didn't have batteries. It was one of the 2 worst hotels I've stayed in.

Superbad neighbor hood, loud, lots of screaming. You can hear everything. could not sleep, was up all night I was better off at a truck stop that here. Worst $70+ I’ve spent. The absolute worst experience in a motel 6! Don not stay here.

Me and my gf have been staying at different hotels but when we stayed here the first room we got stank so bad like wet dog so they gave us another room and it was still awful I couldn’t breath right kept feeling sick and everything was just bad at that place. Towels look like rags. Property needs remodeling and make it more modern. Everything just seems so outdated.

I plugged in my phone charger and didn't realize that the outlet wasn't working until I woke up. None of the outlets in the room were working - which I traced to a faulty GFCI circuit that couldn't be reset. If you just need a place to take a shower and sleep (if you can ignore all the noise) then Motel 6's like this will work but other than that, they're best avoided.

No towels. No sheets. Had allergies to room (possible the 2x3 foot section of missing drywall next to bed had something to do with that). Sketchy stuff going on on back side of motel. Tenants next-door (124 i think) slammed the door every 20min between 2am and 530am, even after confronted. Wasn’t even a discounted rate. Not even a discounted rate. I should’ve known better!

No towels. No sheets. Had allergies to room (possible the 2x3 foot section of missing drywall next to bed had something to do with that). Sketchy stuff going on on back side of motel. Tenants next-door (124 i think) slammed the door every 20min between 2am and 530am, even after confronted. Wasn’t even a discounted rate. Not even a discounted rate. I should’ve known better!

Definitely 1 1/2 to 2 stars. Television and A/C had issues. No hot water in sink. Hotel had construction equipment though out the property. Positive side was it’s locations to restaurants.

Checked into the first room and first thing I see is a huge puddle of water leaking from the refrigerator, hair and mold all over the walls in the shower/bathroom, towels dirty and stained, only one pillow on each bed and the entire room is unsanitary. Afterwards got switched to a different room and wasn’t satisfied at all, first thing I see is a roach crawling on the floor and another early morning in my bathtub and another one but dead in the refrigerator. I’ve been coming here for the past month now and never complained about problems ive had every visit until today and front desk didn’t even care.

I don’t know about laundry. Staff was ok. Room was dirty. Parking was sufficient but not safe. A lot of homeless people lurking around.

I liked the pet friendly environment, but only seemed to be one to two workers the whole time. The day we arrived the showers in the whole place was down but thankfully it was fixed. The pool was out of order for the whole duration of my stay.

Roaches the moment we walked into the room. Bathroom - horror movie. There were literal watery poop drop stains on the OUTSIDE of the toilet paper packaging. the bathtub was unwashed. The walls of bathroom stained with what looked also like poop. Property refused to comp or do anything for that matter. I feel cheated.

There was a strong police presence on some of the days we were there. Lots and lots and lots of homeless nearby. The pool water looked gross. My father was really excited about wanting to take a swim but after seeing the pool water he immediately changed his mind. Good luck trying to use the TV in the room wirh a game console or other things, the TV inputs are all blocked and there is no direct access. The TV is set to hospitality mode with a secondary remote. There are inputs you can use and perhaps they will work...it's one HDMI in the front of the TV and one USB in a front little box thing in front of the TV. The TV is dated so maybe it has auto port switching but probably not. The Chula Vista Motel 6 feels like it is in a terrible neighborhood. My dad and I would walk around to eat at night. They have a Dennys and McDonald's and Taco Bell, Aunt Emma's (Diner) etc etc. On multiple occasions while walking to get breakfast or lunch near the hotel my father and I would walk past very intense and sketchy individuals. One guy was intense and yelling about s@t@n and h*ll. There was a few other intense individuals that we walked past and they were probably dealing with mental health struggles. The room was clean-ish. The very thin blanket looked questionable, a stain here and there, and some small holes in the blanket. The A/C works. YMMV

I went to the office and they changed our room and the new room didn't have towels and when they did bring us some they were very thin and small and when we asked for more they gave us some more of the same ones. always loud and noisy, the cleaning people walked around yelling by room windows majority of the time.

A drug addict was pounding on my door in the middle of the night, waking me up. There’s no security, and they allow homeless people to sleep in the parking lot. This place is a health and safety risk. I want my money back and will be reporting them to the city. They need to lock the grounds and stop letting this happen.

Stayed in room 336 and it had roaches. Asked for another room but there was only one room and it had no AC. Took it anyway just to find more roaches. Said I would get a refund but never got one. I will never go back there again, I'd rather sleep in my car.

1) Each night the hotel keys were reset for no apparent reason after having a 5 day stay. Finally someone at the desk one night knew how to program the key properly 2) Room was very dirty/dated. The floor is clearly not clean as the bottom of my feet were black. They did not provide many towels. Only small ones and when I did ask for more they gave me crappy ones with stains on them. 3) I asked for a garbage can twice which they agreed would be delivered to room. I never received it. 4) Sink would not drain. The water went down the drain very very slowly. Basically you end with a sink full of dirty water. 5) It smelt like chemicals in the room. 6) I spent a lot of money on this hotel and to have simple things not working or dirty and not up to par is outrageous.

Stayed for 3 nights. There is no regular daily service, came back to beds the way we left them. On the second day, i called the front desk asked for fresh towels and the trash to be cleaned. Returned late at night, no fresh towels all trash still in room. Called for towels at 11pm when i had returned, 2 hours laters a knock and i'm given 1 towel told "this is all we found." Beds were terrible, stiff old, the furniture holding the TV seemed like it was about to break.

You only get two towels that are small, rough, and thin. When I asked for more they really didn’t want to give me any even though I had a 4 night stay. The pillows are also thin, less than half the width of a regular pillow. The shower curtain was worn with holes in it. The water pressure was horrible and the shower was not as pictured on the site.

Having to have our room keys reprogrammed every day was annoying. Most of the people at the front desk were great. One of them, though kept saying that the reason that our keys needed to be re-coded. None of the others blamed us. The last day that we were there that employee actually told us that this situation was so common that they were going to change the whole system at their location

Dirty, shabby room, damaged furniture, stained pillow cover, sheets and towels, no shower curtain, some of the staff were helpful and friendly and fulfilled my requests about half of the time. Room key repeatedly stopped working at inconvenient times. I made requests for towels and house keeping, and did not receive either until a day later, after another request. When I finally got housekeeping, I returned to my room at the end of a long day away to find that the housekeeper had not fully closed the door- I left my valuables in the room- that thankfully did not get stolen, but very well could’ve which would have devastated me and seriously impacted my life. All of this drastically took away from my brief vacation. This was the worst motel/hotel stay I’ve ever had. Last time I stayed at a motel 6, my windshield got smashed in the parking lot overnight. I will never stay at a motel 6 again.

Cleanliness isn’t a thing here. Bring Clorox disinfectant wipes and clean whatever you’re going to touch. Toilet seat was broken, tub was stained and the floors haven’t been mopped for a long time from what I gathered. The outside of the building looked better than the inside. The towels had holes in them, thankfully I brought my own. The room was run down and had a lot of damage especially around the television. Bed was not comfortable and the pillows felt like they’ve been in the since grand opening. The only pros to staying here: The trolly station was around the corner There is a McDonald’s right next door Honestly, if you’re in a bind and trying to save money, stay here. It’s cheap and convenient.

This was the worst place I've ever stayed. Wifi was a joke. No bars, could not connect. Even the tv kept losing signal randomly. The air conditioning made such a loud whining noise I thought at first the trolley was going by. There was only one trash can. The room phone was literally fake. The buttons were missing and there was no dial tone. There were only 2 'regular' sized towels and one hand face towel. When we asked for additional towels they told us we had to exchange the ones we already had for new ones! The toilet ran constantly and we had to jiggle the handle to make the tank fill with water so that we could flush. The blackout curtains had holes in them. And literally every day the key card demagnetized no matter how far away we kept it from any other cards/wallets. Service was not great either. Showed up a little early (2:20) for check in (supposed to be 3) and was told to come back in 2 hours because the rooms weren't ready. When I finally got my room, they would only give me one key because they require every guest to have a valid id they can scan and my friend had not arrived yet. Had no idea there were even ice or vending machines because the front desk literally gave no information after giving me my key. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The only good thing I would say is walking distance from trolley and some food nearby.

Basic amenities were lacking: we were only given two towels, one hand towel, no face tissues, no shampoo or conditioner, and just one small trash can for the entire room. These details made our stay feel uncomfortable and not well thought out. Unfortunately, this experience didn’t meet even basic expectations for comfort or hospitality. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves conditions for future guests.

I enjoyed my stay at this Motel 6 in Chula Vista when I attended San Diego Comic Con. It was great to be right by a train station when I took the train to Comic Con. And it was also great to be right by a McDonald's and other restaurants that are within walking distance from Motel 6. If you're looking for a good hotel to stay at during San Diego Comic Con, I highly recommend this one.

The 2nd room was not that great either but at least the floors were swept. I feel like these rooms need a deep clean.

When I arrived to check in, there were two men smoking pot and playing music in front of their room facing the parking lot. Walking up the stairs to my room I walked through 2 different swarms of flies/gnats. When I arrived in my room I saw gnats gathered on the window and the smell in the room of industrial cleaner was as overwhelming as the feeling of being unsafe. When I returned later with my son there were 2 unmarked police cars and 2 marked police cars and a police offer in tactical gear walking around the property. We packed up and checked out, even though we had only been checked in for a few hours. When I told the front desk it was extremely dirty and we felt unsafe there wasn't even an offer to refund or discount. He just sort of nodded his head as if to say, yeah this place is dirty and unsafe nothing to be done. Would NOT recommend

Terrible an dirty environment. I stayed 1 night and felt not safe at that property. The service was very bad. Didn’t want to stay the full lenght of my booking. Either the hotel and expedia were not willing to refund my cancelled stay. It was a horrible experience and will never go there again.

They try to cancel prepaid reservations at midnight. There are puddles on the floor, dirty doors, holes in sheets, etc.

The checkin process was fine the hotel its self need some step up. The picture on expedia looks shiny and nice came in the room old needs painting sheets blanklet looks like its from the 90's.. tv looks like it got ripped out of the wall. room doesnt smell clean, more like wanting money but not well maintain a maintenance.

To much smell of tabaco very dirty restrooms a lot of mold there was dog poop behind the toilet pool was very green infestation of roaches ashes on the bed very dirty balcony

Lots of things in walking distance trolley is super close for other transportation needs quiet for most part

This was a horrible stay.

The house keeping was very sweet.

The linens were old and worn out. Old pillows. 2 towels that looked like a smaller sheet of paper they were so thin. No bath mat Air conditioner wasn't working it make a terrible noise so loud we had to turn it off. It was easy to get to and had restaurants ect close but I won't stay there again.

Our rooms toilet when flushing made a horrible ringing sound all night long . Didn’t stop .

I like the bright colored paint, the bed was decently comfortable, toilet flushed great and shower pressure was fine. Some things were pretty run down (broken window screen & non-working lights, scrapes in table and chairs). Main complaint is Terribly loud. Like there was no seal around the window I could hear people talking quietly on the balcony. Staff was friendly and helpful though and gave me a new room instead of the broken light one.

Aweful. No towels or trash can in the room. Terrible service. Front desk worker harassment for no reason. Never staying here again.

No towels it took them 3 brs for them to give me some the bathroom was discustong full of pubic hairs and the t.v did not work

I had to wait over an hour at check in because room wasn’t clean or ready. No towels were provided. I had to ask multiple times for towels and I didn’t get enough for me and my family to use. I asked house keeping to change bedding because it smelled like cat pee. When house keeping came she was extremely rude. She stood outside and asked me to pull the sheets off and make my own bed up. Tub had a green liquid all over. Room smelled like cigarette smoke.

Previous tenant rimped out the phone from the wall.So there was no courtesy phone.There was no refrigerator there was no microwave.There was no iron or hair dryer.All these things that was listed on the listening

Property was little sketchy. Gentlemen at front desk very helpful and friendly. Unfortunate that the room was very dirty and not clean. We did not stay even after they offer to clean it. Dirty sheets and just not sanitary or made us uneasy to even stay .

Future rip or torn no phone in the room the tub is Clean but stain
