We just needed to spend the night before our cruise . This hotel needs to be updated.Its old but it served our purpose .No hair dryer in room ,office was closed from 6 am to 9 am which we were surprised about .So if you just need somewhere cheap to just spend nite it works we were tired it was late so this is why we chose this hotel .

This was the worse looking hotel room I’ve ever been in. The ceiling was warping and cracked, the paint was chipped and falling, and the cover and sheets didn’t look well washed and pressed. I was in a nonsmoking room, but it was right next to a smoking room so I could smell cigarettes and weed. The staff was friendly, but hopefully I won’t have to stay here again

There was not vent to cover the ac. There were spider webs in the corner behind the door. The water pressure was extremely low. The bathtub is peeling and dirty. Something was bitting us in the room and etc.

The water was hot. Refrigerator worked, staff was cool. That’s where it stopped. It was kinda clean, you can tell they tried. In need of renovation if it was renovated, it would actually be a good hotel but for now it looked like a 70s porn movie. I never stayed in a hotel where I had to go buy bedsheets and pillows, but hey, it’s a first for everything.

Staff are great, area seemed safe but a lot of questionable people staying there. A lot of homeless that do not have a residence. A lot of partiers although after 10 pm they were quiet so sleeping was good. Rooms very worn out, could also use remodel and deep cleaning.

Main lobby was closed off. Manager and family lived in office and reception space. No parking where room was placed. Attendant not thought full on accommodations. Had specific peculiar functions that should have been addressed at check in (ie shower function, heat/AC, walking distance from room, broken table, terrible security locks). I am ADA. I forgot my prescription meds in a cup on the counter beside sink. I called hotel 15 minutes after I checked out Woman answered and advised she would have them at desk when I returned. Returned and woman said she asked cleaning person if they saw my property. Was told no. This woman advised she would check room herself, but I don't think she did. Strange,!! 12 pills in a clear plastic cup Three of the capsules cost $80.00 each. Not happy. Almost impossible to understand attendants English.

And just plain terrible. The mold and paint peeling, nasty sticky carpet, 80’s bedding, gross bathroom. I was tired and figured I’d lay on the bed clothed not even taking off my shoes and at least get some sleep. Didn’t feel like taking a shower at that point was a good idea. Fell asleep to be woken up at 12am to no power. Called it then, got my stuff and tried to sleep in my truck the rest of the night. Absolutely no go, I would not bring my family to a place like this none the less let my dog be in this place. Definitely do not stay here, I don’t know how places like this don’t get shut down.

The location was nice and close to where we needed to be. The first room I went into the ac didn't work and it was filthy, the 2nd room had a bad smell, cigarette burns in the bed, the shower was dirty. We were afraid to sleep under the covers so we slept on top.

They have perfected how to not spend anything on maintenance or upgrades, but still charge the unwitting traveler.

We booked this as we were traveling because the pictures looked good. When we got there at 10 pm it felt very unsafe for our family to stay. We ended up finding a different place on down the road.

The Ice Machine was not working. Had cigarette burns in the comforters. Felt kind of run down, but didn't feel unsafe. If youre looking for amenities and comfort i wouldnt recommand this place. If youre just looking to rest your head for a few hours or use the bed for a few hours this place isnt too bad.

The wash cloths and towels smelled like grease. They were more like rags they were so thin. The shower curtain had seen better days. There was barely any water pressure in the shower and it never got hot.

Really enjoyed our stay at American Inn Chesapeake- Portsmouth Virginia. I recommend this hotel for anyone that is traveling and needs a place to stay. The hotel was quite at night so you can sleep. Stay there if you get a chance but bring your own coffee if you are a coffee drinker like my husband

The staff was very nice and friendly (the female staff and elderly man who was part of the cleanning staff), there was however a middlenage gentleman that waas not always in the greatest of moods and did not ever honor anyknind of discount price regaedless how many nights we stayed. The way the housing situation is right now you would think discounted rates would be honored a little better. Overall the numerous times we stayed i was pleased.

When we go away, we look for inexpensive, a place to sleep, preferably comfy, which the bed was nice, and be able to bathe...it had a garden/jacuzzi tub that was inoperable, so the shower was fine. It could use a tad bit of updating but it was great for what we wanted. I would have liked another bath towel and rag, but we made do. I shower twice a day, so....it was a great area, noise wasn't a problem because we always carry a fan, its what we're used to at home. It was a non smoking room and there were no odors as I've read in some reviews. Would I go back ? Yes, definitely ! It was a little out of the way for our venue, but that was my fault. Enjoyed it very much !!!

So I returned to the reception and asked for a different room. They changed the room with no issues and another one was cleaner and better maintained. But still, for a non-smoking room, a smell of weed was there. All rooms around that one were non-smoking rooms so I'd not expect the scent to come from the rooms nearby.. but who knows what people do? So this is an OK stay. Be mindful that one side of the hotel is facing a very busy highway...

What I liked about it most it felt like a get away. And the bed was comfortable. I didn't like that they didn't have coffee makers in the rooms.

What I liked about it most it felt like a get away. And the bed was comfortable. I didn't like that they didn't have coffee makers in the rooms.

Very unsanitary. Poufs left in the shower. Sex toy left on a table under the counter. Right next to a gun range. The fridge was dirty and not working. Never again. And the bed was on a metal squeaky frame.

Cracks in walls. Stains in bathtub and towels. Small holes in sheets.

I prepaid for my hotel reservation. At check in the hotel says my card was declined and that I needed to pay with another card at a higher rate than I originally reserved. I showed my prepaid receipt but they wouldnt give me my room. Would not recommend.

the shower did not work, one towel for 3 night stay, no kleenex used toilet paper for sinus condition not enough paper.

Location was very nice and quiet.

Not so clean but not so bad. Not a $100 a night place at all.

Bathtub was stained, walls were chipping and had been very poorly repaired on multiple occasions. Carpet had stains and was damp in a large spot near the bathroom. Sink frame had a mangled metal strip that was twisted away from the side. The wall behind the clothes hanger rack looked like someone had pulled the rack off of the wall and asked a five year old to repair the damage. The shelf for the ice trays in the fridge was mangled and broken; looked like someone stood on it! The a/c unit looked like someone took a baseball bat to the inside grill, but at least it worked (although all the a/c units at the motel leaked condensation outside the rooms and had been doing so long enough for mold stains to form and the leaking water from the 2nd floor units drained over the edge of the walkway to the ground below). Trash all around the outside trashcans. Parking was limited and the only open spaces were on a gravel covered area on one side that had trucks and machinery sitting and a sign saying parking for trucks only - all others towed. I didn't feel like taking a chance. Whoever took the photo advertising this site is an amazing photographer because it made the motel look decent! In truth it was a nightmare and I would rather stay in a cardboard box behind a Walmart than stay at this place again! NOT recommended!!!

Quiet

Stayed in room 110 on Thursday 7/14/2022. The floor carpet felt sticky like something that hasn't been cleaned in months. Saw hair on the bed. Had to remove bedsheet and use my personal blanket. The terms when i booked on expedia said "No refund", otherwise i would have cancelled and gone to another hotel/facility

The room had a TV and Microwave....Neither worked

The lobby looked more like a storage area but Anthony the clerk was nice. The room on 1st floor had no chain on door and windows were filthy. The entire room was dismal I took lysol because I expected to have to clean. When got in room water was running and I couldn't turn it off my son turned off under sink, but when he turned on other spiget black gunk started to come out so No teeth brushing no handwashing or shower. Next day of my 2 day stay I packed up and left. Reported to office and lady sounded like she didn't believe me. No one cleaned that room bedposts and everything just dirty. There was one lonely hanger to hang my clothes. At night people were beating on snack machines because they kept taking their money. Just not a good experience go where you can get some rest. I got another sheet from office to put on top of spread because as dirty as room was I wasn't about to pull back that spread. My son brought e a nice soft blanket. Next time, Marriott no matter the cost.

Peaceful stay.

the rooms were dirty with stains on the walls and bugs on the floors. My wife and I were there for 4 days and got cleans towels only once's after repeatly asking the cleaning service person for clean ones. The cleaning person did not speak english, which made getting any service impossible. We will never go there again. and I want a refund.

It was good no complaints

Outside was nice and parking was plentiful. Interior of hotel was very dated. Bed was comfortable. Walls were in desparate need of repair. Bathroom was very displeasing. Didnt expect much, got even less.

I have to admit, this hotel is way out dated. I stumbled across this place while driving lost lol. This is the Best place I could ever imagine to stay for Peace and quiet!! The rooms are old but the service and their ability to make sure it's clean are wonderful! I have never had such relaxation in any hotel like this and the fact that it's secluded makes it even better! Will be returning for more private stays soon!

Property is difficult to get to, out of the way, and in an industrial park. The place gives you the willies when you first drive up. Food was left in the refrigerator, facilities old, stairs, carpet etc. It's a working man's hostel. Wouldn't take children or wife.

Gave us separated rooms on second floor, contrary to reservation, despite empty rooms between us and on the first floor. Cobwebs in my face in the bathroom. Two of the three a/c -heat units did not work properly, same for the (filthy) microwaves. Bug parts in two of the beds. Cigarette burns in the sheets and carpets. Unsightly damage everywhere. Electrocution hazard from plugged-in lamp that had exposed wires that aren't visible in the dark, lucky to have avoided them while I was turning it on. No "Do Not Disturb" signs (probably unnecessary since it's unlikely anyone stays more than one night).

Site needs updating and mattress was VERY firm. A basic room for a fair price. Not a family kind of place but ok for a no-frills stop. No food close by.

It was cool place to stay

Had a third world experience here. Very poorly maintained premises, seedy surroundings, decided to sleep in my car elsewhere instead of risk possible bugs or robbery.
