This Super 8 is the absolute best! Its super clean, the rooms are huge with really comfy beds and of course the staff are incredibly nice and respectful. I highly recommend staying here if your ever in Charlottesville!

i have stayed in many cheaper motels and hotels and this was by far the worst experience i’ve ever had. the lady who checked us in asked for my credit card, charged me when i had already paid online, without any explaining of what she was doing. once i asked why she needed my credit card she told me my initial payment had declined. i showed her that she had double charged me and i was met with attitude instead of problem solving. after a lot of back and forth, she showed me a paper and i realized she had confused me with someone else. even though i had already given her my ID. she apologized and refunded me. but honestly i'm still blown away by her lack of customer service skills and critical thinking. the bed was dirty and stained, the pillows were the size of throw pillows and were so uncomfortable we couldn’t sleep all night. the air conditioner in the room was incredibly loud. when we checked out the hallway was flooded with water from their ice machine, and the free breakfast was apples and orange juice. i booked this stay because of the good reviews and i'm honestly shocked as to how this place has any good reviews at all. do your self a favor and literally stay anywhere else at all.

The air conditioner was loud, hard to sleep with it on. The room was clean and the staff were very pleasant.

The Super 8 brand is a value priced option, and this property reflected that market positioning. As I assume most Super 8's are, this is a basic property - the room was clean, and everything worked as it should. It appears to have been updated recently. There are few amenities - no fitness room, only coffee and prepackaged baked goods/snacks for "breakfast", etc. The NCAA lacrosse championship was in Charlottesville over the Memorial Day weekend - hotel availability was limited and all hotels took advantage of the high demand with extremely elevated rates. This may have been one of the most expensive Super 8 stays ever but it was a "value" compared to the market. I appreciate that the hotel felt comfortable even though it was basic lodging. It will not be our first choice on our next visit to C'ville as I expect it will not be on such a high demand period, but in a pinch or similar situation this hotel would be an option.

AC was left off, so the room was sweltering hot, and the blinds were left open, which didn't help. There were also several stink bugs in the room. The staff were rude and said we needed a credit card when I've never had an issue giving a debit card for any temporary charges. Someone was also whistling in the hallway knocking on doors for no reason. Do not recommend will never stay here again.

So overpriced for this place

Did not feel safe enough to stay here. Some very unsavory people hanging around. Paid for the one night (originally booked two) but did not stay at all. Price also jumped from $275 a night to $398 plus $50 tax….. so $450, when I said I wasn’t staying two nights.

There was a cockroach on the wall (smashed it, didn't bother reporting, because it was after bed time and I needed to get sleep before an early departure). While surfaces were clean, there was an overall dank feel and smell (with a whiff of rotten fish?? or something like that). The beds are pretty small, but comfortable (though we were a couple, we slept in separate beds). The location is near the main drag, but nothing nice is really walkable nearby. The price was pretty high, but I assume that's just part of the "congestion pricing" (or gouging) that comes from graduation season crowding.

I booked a room due to an EARLY morning surgery at nearby UVA Hospital since we live 2 1/2 hours away. The staff was so accommodating with a first floor room to minimize patient's in house travel. The beds were so comfortable which helped with a good nights sleep in spite of all us having pre surgery nerves. I would definitely book again should the need arise for us to be in the area again.

So, here is the thing about the hotel. It's just run down. My room was clean, and the bathroom was clean as well. The staff was really friendly and helpful. It's kind of you get what you pay for, but believe me, there are far worse hotels I've stayed in. I was only there for the night, came in for a medical scan, and left the next day. Would I have stayed there longer, possible?

The bed was comfortable. There was someone else's hair in the bath tub still. It was fine until I noticed there were roaches crawling around in the bathroom. They need to make sure they have exterminator. NO one wants to come to a hotel for a stay and leave with unwanted bugs.

Maybe a bit tired, but clean, centrally located, good wifi, friendly staff. Good value for money. Would happily recommend Super 8.

Front desk was very friendly. Property is clean. I felt safe. There is a convenience store within the block. We were there for a weekend and the hotel is convenient to JPJ Arena and other sports complex’s. I recommend the Super 8. There is no breakfast on site. But room has microwave and fridge.

Room was nice. Close to where I was going. The front desk clerk threatened to not allow me to stay. My husband booked and paid for the reservation with me as the PRIMARY guest as he has done many times. The Clerk was insisting that he couldn't let me stay unless I gave my a credit card. I showed him ID, was the primary guest on a paid-for reservation. We have never had that problem before. The reservation is very clear.

Noise was an issue as we were woken up several times by doors closing loudly, and people talking in the hallway. We could also hear the TV in the room above us. The shower was a little disappointing due to low water pressure. Overall, it was a good deal for our two night stay.

Cons: Parking lots were full so may need more parking, mattress wasn’t comfortable, air conditioner in room cycles w/ noise. I would stay here again considering the price.

The room and hotel were clean and staff was great. The hotel and room had an odor but not of which was terrible. The location was great, but feel the price for the product was a bit high. Of course we were there on a concert/holiday weekend.

It was staffed. The facility was not very clean. It was outdated with stains and showing signs of wear and tear. Everything was dimly lit. The hallways smelled of weed badly. The vending machines were bare. When we arrived our room smelled horrible like vomit and bad cheese. We were there to attend the concert so we sprayed air freshener and left hoping it would be better when we got back. There was a used towel on the bathroom sink. The shower had hair on the wall. When we returned it somehow got worse. It was making us dry heave. We knew we would not be able to stay in that room. I wish I would have taken photos but I didn't want to stay in that room any longer in fear of getting sick. The entire facility was booked due to the concert and were unable to do anything as we booked through a 3rd party. Our Uber driver told us it was not a great area and not to use the 7-11 across the street. We grabbed our stuff and drove the 3.5hrs home at midnight.

We were very tired from a long road trip when we arrived, the gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and kind. Our room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and we enjoyed having a small fridge in the room. We would definitely stay here again!

The staff was great. The room was clean and comfortable. Had some issues with the TV that could not be fixed. The ac/heating unit was extremely loud. Outside noise, i.e., traffic, sirens, was all night long. About 5 a.m. it sounded like a dumpster derby was going based on the clanging that went on and on. Having said all that, the staff was great, and the facility is really nice.

It’s clean, not super clean but your room isn’t as clean. Hospitable, well lit, safe parking, the area around the lot has tons of cameras. Wawa and 711 right across the street.

The staff were very friendly. My room had two melted spots on the rug near the bed, and one of my two windows was “frosted?” It looked water damaged. Aside from those things I had a great and comfortable stay.

The air in this motel needs changing: humid and stale for all 4 days. The rooms are properly clean but need more than just 4 pieces of furniture. Fire hazard: 1st floor rear fire door to stairwell propped open for 4 days; adjacent fire extinguisher in wall is missing; adjacent fire hose-glass door has no opening handle (broken off, must smash glass for fire hose).

Starting from the hallway and the "back entrance" it smelled like insect repellent. Then, the room stank of humidity, lard and body odor. It was hard to sleep there without thinking of bedbugs and germs. The sheets were white, but everthing in general had a horrible dirty odor. I tried to stay calm, as I was going to my sister's funeral and didn't have the energy, but when my brother arrived he was also disgusted by the "RAID" and lard smell. I cannot believe that this hotel is still in business. Then I went to get coffee and that little "stand" was also dirty and out of cups. I usually don't write reviews, but when confronted with this filth, I have to. All in all, disgusting. We couldn't wait to get out of there. Just got home and put all my stuff (suitcase, clothes, chargers and anything that touched that room) in a bathroom with Lysol and the clothes in hot water. I still can't believe it! That which was unique, but was not necessarily safe was that all room occupants could open a door at the end of the corridor with their room key. And the door was sometimes left open. which lead outdoors.

Breakfast was juice and a granola bar. I had the do not disturb sign up and at 8am someone came into my room and flipped the light on without knocking or apologizing. Then around 9am someone was banging on my door and check out was 11. Around 10am someone was vacuuming the hall and whistling.

We stayed for one night. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and nice. The parking lot was also very lit up at night for security and they had security cameras all over the building the actually seemed to monitor. All that though probably isn’t even necessary as the surrounding area isn’t sketchy looking. It was great for $100.

The room was humid and had a smell. Some hairs were found on towels, bedding and in the shower. Somewhat noisy due to other guests in the hallway and not very sound proof doors.

The experience was satisfactory for the price. Check-in was fine and staff were polite. The room was clean which is very important to me. I prefer the hotels with a seating area and full breakfast. This Super 8 provided orange juice, coffee, and granola bars and it is in the small check in office area.

two problems with the facility number one I left in the morning put the do not disturb sign on my door and when I returned at 10 AM, the maids had already stripped my room and we're inside. I had just booked the following night. Minutes before my mind was changed when I had to wait to get inside my room so I checked out at 12:30 PM and was charged for another full day. Very very disappointed I requested any type of discount and was refused.

Elevator went out of service right after we moved into our 3rd floor room. Wasn’t too bad for us on the stairs but some other guests were struggling with their luggage when we left.

For Charlottesville, this is a reasonably priced room cost. My room got the job done, but dont look for frills.

The hotel was fairly new it was very clean felt very safe The people working the front desk both in the evening and in the morning were extremely friendly I would definitely stay here again

Elevator made things easy coming in and packing up but no laundry on site was a little disappointing as we had things we needed to wash.

I was looking for a budget friendly hotel and i found this nice , well cleaned, comfortable bed and room. Staff are friendly. If i ever come back to Charlottesville, definitely, i would book this Hotel again. Thank you.

2. The desk attendant was more worried about his TV then checking me in. Also I could barely understand him, broken English. 3. Room was 85 degrees when I first entered the room, AC unit was off and the blinds were open. Took the AC unit 1 hour and half to get room down into the 70s. 4. Pest trap found on the entertainment stand. 5. Only one ice machine and vendor machine in the hotel. Vendor machine broken or empty. If it wouldn't have been so late we would have found a different place to stay the night

I was most impressed with the light cancellation blinds that made our stay so much better. The beds were soft and the room was clean. I did not like that. The desk chair was broken and the breakfast was awful. I was expecting at least bagels and donuts along with a variety of fruit maybe even a waffle maker, but it was prepackaged breakfast snacks along with just apples. We took some of what was available, but still had to buy breakfast elsewhere. Overall, it was a very nice stay.

Of all the mid-range hotel options in the area for one overnight stay, Super 8 was by far the best choice. I checked reviews of other chains and none of them compared regarding cleanliness which is my top priority. Super 8 has been updated recently and our room was very comfortable and clean. The central location was also a plus and the price was less than major chains in the area by far.

We only needed a place to crash one night for a concert. This was perfect. Nice area, clean, front desk was very nice. Don’t be fooled by the outside, it is an holder building but rooms are updated. Room was small so more than 2 people would be tight. We will stay here again for concerts and games.

It was a very good value for what we paid. It is very close to the downtown core, as well as the university campus, which is where we saw a concert and was the reason behind staying at this hotel. The hotel itself was good for our one night stay. It didn’t have anything spectacular but was priced well and located on a great spot. The bed wasn’t super comfortable but was fine for one night. The wall unit AC was very loud but also did a fantastic job at cooling the room. The pillows were very small and thin, which may just be a preference thing for us. It served its purpose well.

Call cause I couldn’t make it refuse to even change my dates the foreign lady was rude and disrespectful so i was out of 300 dollars never again!

Clean rooms, nice bathrooms with marble walls. I only wish the bathtub held water for a hot bath, and there was no antiskid on the bathtub floor, so being handicapped with several foot surgeries was challenging and slippery as ice for me, especially getting in and out of the tub. Other than that, it was beautiful, clean and very reasonably priced!

Went to Charlottesville with some friends. The rooms were clean and nicer than expected. We had a great time and would definitely recommend.

Basic hotel VERY overpriced for graduation weekend in Charlottesville

Rooms were nice enough and very clean; staff is nice; there is no lobby and the reception area would embarrass a homeless shelter; the parking lot is poorly maintained with hidden bolts and concrete that will absolutely damager your car’s bumpers or undercarriage.

I never smoked in the room at all and was charged $250 for claimed smell of smoke all over the room. I have stayed at many hotels that were cleaner and never been charged a cleaning fee.

It was easy to find.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Always able to get a late checkout with no issues, and although they keep a card on file for incidentals...they don't charge a refundable deposit. Huge plus and the only hotel in the area, that I know of, that does this. #Super8FTW

Used by a lot of transient workers. Lobby shut off for protection of staff which was a red flag. Overall the room was clean, quiet inside but a lot of noise in the hallway and outside. Earplugs and added personal protection is recommended in my humble opinion.

Very clean, easy to get around the city, all necessary amenities and lovely big comfy bed. Recently refurbished with 24 hour check in too. Excellent value.

As far as Super 8's go...this one is pretty good. Comfy beds, good size TV, hospitable staff...really have no complaints. Super gr8.

Very hard to find someone in office. They seem to allow people to park in their lot- unknown if they are paying customers- but they yelled and fought for hours. Will NOT stay here again, despite cleanliness.

Front desk clerk was racist and very rude upon myself returning the lobby as she was reluctant to to honor my reservation as I was only was asking her simple questions that she felt that she wasn’t entitled to answer. As I’m a military veteran that has been well traveled and have never experienced such as this.

Who ever was cleaning kept slamming doors at 7:30am until we checked out at 11am. It was 3am when I went to check in and I had to wait over 5 minutes with no one coming to check us in. I had to call the desk to get someone so I could get checked in.

Verry racist at the hotel against other races

The lady at the front desk was rude i booked a room for a 3rd bight o line and she tikd us we still had to leave then told us to come back at 2 then she caled saying the room was dirty only thing left in room was water bottles we were told not to come back. Because of cleanliness of the room which was a lie i wish i had more resources to report her she treated us so unfairly
