We came across a few dirty spots in our room. We were put in a room with a view of a wall, even though the hotel was near-empty

Fellow travelers…this is the place to be! Conveniently located (major shopping center across the street), spacious room (we had a full kitchen, living area + the usual bed and bath), excellent amenities (outdoor pool, exercise room, business center, and the BEST breakfast I’ve seen in ages). I wish I was able to stay longer!

I always stay here when visiting family in the area; perfect location, clean rooms and hallways, and the staff is always GREAT (especially Kathy at the front desk, she's a gem!!).

This was a great hotel and the closest hotel to the John Paul Jones Arena.

Amazing. Close to John Paul Arena, walking distance. Also plenty of food available, which makes the kitchen very useful, for leftovers.Lots of toys for pool use

It was nice to have a kitchen in the unit and convenient location to visit UVA but the breakfast was just OK and there was often no one at the front desk.

We had a small dog, Duke. He is very sensitive to sound, so we requested to assign our room away from elevators. Thanks to the front desk staff's attention, we had three best nights with Duke! Breakfast and location were excellent, and the staff was very friendly and polite. We already decided to stay again next year at UVA graduation. Best hotels for us in C'ville! Thank you so much!

The desk staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was standard fare, but my niece was thrilled with the pancake maker, but disappointed the last day because they ran out of pancake batter early. She did manage to get one silver dollar sized one. Several items seemed to run short on Sunday and weren't replenished.

The breakfast was not good and out of everything including coffee when we came down 45 minutes before they close.

Sehr saubere Zimmer. Ich fand den sehr grossen Kühl/ Gefrierschrank für meine Bedürfnisse praktisch. Es gibt eine Kochnische mit Spülmaschine. Gutes Bett. Gutes Frühstück. Checkin war leider nur OK. Checkout (Kathy) sehr freundlich. Leider war die A/C sehr laut.

The breakfast was very good! The lady at the front desk was friendly, funny and helpful! The gentleman in the breakfast room was very friendly. We had a few good conversations with him. Always a smile and a friendly greeting. I would definitely stay there again.

Great place to stay. Two master bedrooms with shared living and dining room was a great set up for rest and relaxation while enjoying the wineries and history.

Every member of the staff was welcoming and helpful. Breakfast offered an excellent variety. The location is wonderful - with walking access to Barracks Road Shopping Center and restaurants, The Park and Rivanna Trail.

My room! It was a double room suite that was very clean and the beds were so comfortable. The kitchen had everything that I needed and the fireplace was a nice touch!

This hotel is in dire need of a facelift. The furniture in my room featured chairs with peeling leatherette and the lighting was low power. The worse was the staff. The gentleman who checked me in was nice and polite, and when I asked for a late check out, he said no problem and said I had to check out by 2pm. This was perfect. However at 8:30AM, the phone rings and this shrill woman says we must vacate by 1pm. First off, thanks for waking up the whole family at 8:30am. Second, it’s not our fault the first staff member gave us a late check out. If she had simply called at a DECENT TIME and politely explained everything, this would have been fine. She was rude and unprofessional. I am unsure why she is in the hospitality business.

Good location. I called to be sure my adult daughter could check in when she arrived. I was assured a note was added to my reservation. When she got there, the clerk saw no note. I had to call again. Then when we got there, I informed to clerk what had happened. No apology. Furniture was very worn. Drapes were torn. I never found a kitchen trash can.

The property is great! Convenient to most everything in Charlottesville. I only had two problems with my stay but I will stay there again. First, the heat would not shut off. I couldn’t get it to change to air, auto or off. We ended up opening the windows and that saved the trip. Also, a trash can in or near the bathroom would be helpful. Also a liner in the trash can in the sitting area would be appreciated by guests and housekeeping. It was gross to walk from the bathroom to the sitting area with feminine hygiene products to put in an unlined garbage can - we added a bag btw. Next time I will just move the garbage can nearer to the bathroom and anyone with kitchen trash can make the trip to that can.

Decent place. Not the cleanest as there was leftover food on the floor when I arrived but don’t mind that too much. Biggest issue is if you are a light sleeper the walls may be too thin for you. But overall it’s a perfectly fine place to stay.

You can easily walk across street to shopping center which includes two grocery stores. The location next to UVA law school and Darden is great. Free breakfast was fine. Typical hotel free by gate and nice lounge area.

Close to downtown mall . Staff provided excellent customer service. Check in was quick and when notified that we needed a refill of hand wash, the staff responded right away. My only negative take away are the bath towels were in need of good fabric softener.

We had a late check in (around 1am), the receptionist was friendly, helpful and welcoming. She was incredibly in making us feel at ease considering our long drive. Breakfast was delicious and the staff member who maintained the breakfast was very personable and very interactive with the guests. So friendly! Check out was easy and again the receptionist was friendly and treated us like family. The rooms very big, clean and well kept. Overall is was a great stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. I highly recommend this hotel! I do not have any complaints.

Fantastic suite. Everything we would want for a long stay. Exceptional value for the price. It’s our new place to stay when we come to Charlottesville. No big deal, but long walk from elevator/lounge to our room.

We really enjoyed our first stay at Sonesta. The room was perfect, so nice to have a sitting area in the room. I really loved that the bedding and linens were so white and clean. The only reasons I didn’t give it an excellent rating is there was mold or dirt in the corner of the outside of the tub. Some deep cleaning is needed.

Management staff was very warm welcoming and tried to help you in every which way they could to make your stay pleasant because I wanted to book in two nights the same time and then I canceled and they work with me to cancel and make sure I get my refund back Everything was very warm from the staff. It was very hospitable and very nice and friendly.

Front desk people were awesome! We need to take our son for urgent care and they were so helpful telling us where the closest one was what drugstore to use and even asked Adam how he was doing when we got back. The person who helps out with the Cook breakfast? He was great. Make sure we had everything. He was the most polite everyone was made our stay just perfect.

The manager on Sunday was amazing, but the woman at the desk when we checked in was rude and had an attitude. The grounds were well kept and breakfast was good. The room was not clean, the bed skirt had stains and was ripped. There was trash still in the trash can in the room and crumbs on the floor. Luckily the bed itself was clean. When we discussed with the manager the next day she apologized for the associates behavior the evening before and room, then offered to make it right. Later in the week a random $5.27 charge shows on our credit card. Calling to inquire once again it was the rude associate that said it’s a parking fee that was never disclosed to us. I said thanks for mentioning that when we checked in because you were never so helpful and she indicated it was on a check in sheet that i don’t remember seeing at all, but of course didn’t keep a copy of. Also, our reservation didn’t indicate paid parking.

I cannot say enough GREAT things about the Sonesta ES Suites! We stayed for 2 nights since our Mom had outpatient surgery at the UVA Medical Center. The entire staff was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a lot of downtime so we hung out by the pool area, enjoyed the morning breakfast (good coffee and lots of great food choices) and really liked the close proximity to restaurants, stores and the athletic field with a jogging/walking track behind the hotel. We stayed in the Superior 2 Bedroom Suite and it was perfect. The kitchen and living room area had everything you needed including an oven, microwave, full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a Keurig machine with utensils and dishes and even a gas fireplace. Really thoughtful amenities. There is one elevator centrally located and stairs are right there and well lit with easy access. We didn't have time but there were cornhole boards, basketballs, and other items you could borrow to use in the court by the pool as well as plenty of tables and chairs around the pool, some with umbrellas. Again, the staff was the BEST - the front desk, the breakfast attendant, employees we passed in the hall, etc. They really made our stay! This is definitely our GO TO place in Charlottesville. Thank you again for a great stay!

Very convenient location if you’re visiting UVA

Disappointed that the gym was not available. Also, some staff was friendly, but others weren't as pleasant as I would expect of those in the hospitality industry. For example, the employee at check in was involved in a conversation with a co worker about personal matters while checking me in. Not the most welcoming check in I've experienced.

Great place to stay in Charlottesville. Shared a lovely suite with a friend, so we each our own bedroom / bath. Very spacious and accommodating.

Some of the furniture requires maintenance, ( drawers in a bedroom chest did work).There was a persistent low volume beeping noise in the main room. Outside of these small items, the staff was cordial, and hotel conditions were excellent.

Very nice place to stay if attending any events on UVA campus. Walking distance to John Paul Jones Arena and places to eat. We ate at Sedona Taphouse...very good food and friendly staff. Hotel staff were very friendly.

The staff are phenomenal, the breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had.

It was a wonderful stay for 2 nights. My room was extremely clean. There was little to no noise. Bed was clean and nice so was the bathroom. Service and front desk workers were extremely kind.

Had an amazing time staying at the property. The room was incredibly spacious and had everything you could possibly need. The location is amazing since it is right behind the barracks shopping center and the walk was very easy. Would absolutely stay here again!

A convenient place to stay for our son’s Army JAG graduation. This is an older hotel that seems to be undergoing some renovations. The staff were all very polite and friendly. Overall it was a good stay.

Staff was really friendly and helpful. The property was clean and very nice. Room was perfect and both beds were extremely comfortable. Everything smelt clean and was very well furnished. The furniture was a bit dated but all was functional and nice. Only complaint is the couch wasn’t very comfortable for sitting.

Convenient to shopping center. Plus, simple meals could be prepared on site with stovetop and fridge in suite.

Overall a good stay, perfect location for seeing a show at UVA. Elevator was out of order, would have been nice to know before check-in. TV in our room wouldn’t connect to channels or turn off. Would press power, it would go dark, then cut back on in 2 minutes.

The service is consistently excellent at this location. The rooms are comfortable and we really appreciate the kitchen amenities. There was one small issue with the toilet, running intermittently. I did not report it until check out.

Close to the grocery store, food options, a shopping center across the street, close to UVA, and there was a bus line near by if needed.

Front desk lady wouldn't open the door to check in for some time. Started questioning us to through the door. it was late and cold out. Did the absolute MOST unnecessary things during the long drawn out process. Not a very warm welcome. The room was fine. Enjoyed the breakfast. Wish there was multiple elevators. Overall Clean and Safe.

we chose sonesta because it advertises as an extended stay but there was no dishes no silverware no utensils no glasses other than 2 wine glasses. coffee machine did not work. kitchen area was dated and unclean. All that said the staff was excellent and the breakfast staff was beyond excellent could not get any better polite and helpful in all ways. was a pleasure to see them in the morning

If I am staying at a motel (not an urban hotel), I should not have to pay daily for parking in an open, unguarded lot while paying nearly $200 for a room.

Our 1st time in Charlottesville, VA. The room was very nice, clean, roomy with a kitchen & living room area. We would stay there again. It was great!

The staff was really the difference. Kathy was so incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was nice and spacious.
