Hyatt Place Charlottesville

Spontaneously decided to stay the night in Charlottesville*, and chose this hotel because it was close to the theater and dinner options. We really enjoyed the Korean barbecue at the Bullpan. The bed was comfortable at the hotel as were the pillows.

Good breakfast with hot and cold choices. Special shout out to the very nice staff. I forgot my medication in the fridge and was already halfway to airport. They were able to mail it back to me same day! Thank you! Renovation team working in front lobby on one day but the staff made a temporary front desk workstation to accommodate guests.

Negatives--no restaurant as advertised--just chips & candy for sale. The reason we chose this hotel was because it had an onsite restaurant. We had to crawl on the floor to get the refrigerator turned on. There was no soap in the bathroom, but a soap dish--the housekeeper didn't have any--we had to go to the front desk for a simple bar of soap???? Fire alarm in the middle of the night left us outside for over an hour & it was cold for everyone in their pajamas--would have been nice if "Corporate" would have given even a $20 discount on the bill to compensate for people being outside from 11:30 until almost 1 am. Made for a very difficult day on Saturday when we were attending an important meeting with little sleep.

One very strange thing was they had no soap for the bathroom sink. Shower had shampoo, conditioner and body wash in bottles on the shower wall, but it was not very convenient to go to the shower every time you washed in in sink. I thought it was an oversight, so I went to the desk and they gave me a bar. The next day, we asked the maid for soap, and she said they didn't have soap.

This hotel was under major renovation. There was a strong construction smell, even in the room. I was not sure if a ventilation fan was working in the bathroom. The breakfast area was a temporary space, previously a conference room. The tables and chairs were somethings you would see in a one star hotel. Not happy to pay $210 per night for a hotel under renovation. I would never come back to this hotel.

Hotel is currently undergoing renovations so check in and breakfast were clearly not in their normal locations. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was serviceable, but not exemplary.

The breakfast area was in a meeting room with a worn carpet and a limited choice breakfast as compared to our previous stay. Our experience was not up to Hyatt standards. We chose this hotel based on our excellent experience in 2023. I will be requesting an adjustment to our bill from Hyatt.

The hotel was being renovated at the time. I stayed here before and it was very nice. The room was good. The hotel was being remodeled. It would have been nice to have that information.

Location was exceptional. It is a place where we frequent to enjoy shopping and food and theater. More seating needed for breakfast.

The water temperatures in the shower fluctuated way too much.

The staff was SO friendly. I genuinely felt welcome. Everything was extremely clean. Even the crevices of grout in the bathroom. The HVAC was excellent too. I didn’t feel completely dry the way I do at many hotels. The pool is lovely and it’s great there is an outside area so you can feel some sun on your skin after swimming. Breakfast was so good and continuously restocked. No notes.

Location was great, breakfast was nice as well. Shower curtain was moldy, the faucets on both sink and tub were extremely loose. The WIFI was non existent and there was a note in the elevator that stated the WIFI would be down but we were never notified about this before check in. I wasn't able to access the internet during my stay which I needed for work. There was also a car alarm going off in the parking lot for over 10 hours. It was all through the night and kept all of us awake.

Having such a central location was helpful for our trip, generally. The room was big. This property is having renovations done, which is probably why it was priced as it was. The layout was confusing, I was a little concerned about the security given where the door was located, there seemed to be drywall mud splattered all over our room, and the hot water for the shower was terrible - cold water until you were suddenly shocked with blazing hot water. Not what I expected from a Hyatt.

We have stayed at the property approximately three times and it has always been awesome. The property is currently undergoing upgrades and the front desk staff was great about letting everyone know the hours when work would be occurring.

Friendly staff but elevator wasn't always working because of the construction. Also missed having hand lotion in the room on a cold and windy day w/ chapped hands.

Self- serve breakfast buffet was generous and delicious with healthy choices and very hot always full coffee dispensers. Great location in Stonefield shopping center with a myriad of upscale shops and dining opportunities.

The room was a decent size, good shower and comfortable bed. It was also close to a lot of attractions. Pet fee was a bit high and the staff were just okay.. not super welcoming.

The parking was good and totally safe. I just got a credit card charge that is $100 dollars, exactly, higher that the quoted rate. I did charge 2 bottles of water to the room but that was all.

A bit smaller than our usual Hyatt room but it was okay. Comfortable bed and great shower. Breakfast was good but done at precisely 9 so our granddaughter missed it be 5 minutes.

While a little further from the University (only 10-15 minutes) I appreciated the cleanliness and ease of the hotel. I loved that they had a charging port for my car! I will stay there again. Also great pillows!

When I called in advance to ask about the pool, they took the time to ask the building engineer about the pool temperature. You can walk to many shops, a grocery store, a theater, an inviting green space. My Tesla conveniently charged in the parking lot. I was never concerned for my safety. Everything seems spotless but I would recommend avoiding air fresheners in the elevator.

The staff was nice and the room was clean. My remote for the tv ran out of battery power and it was not clear in the phone how to reach the front desk. When I finally reached them they said no one was available to bring batteries. It was night I was ready for bed but had to go to the lobby myself to collect batteries.

While not amazing, this hotel exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was better than Roadside hotels, but nothing really to speak of. We would stay there again without question. One thing I would suggest to them is to update some of their in room receptacles to accommodate USB charging.

The rooms were spacious and clean! I think the best part of the hotel which was the reason I chose this place was the proximity to the restaurants and shops. All are walking distance and, if you have a Costco membership, you can get gas for a very good price.

This hotel is wonderful! By far the best hotel experience we have had in a long time. Super clean and quiet. Housekeeping does a wonderful job and they even clean your room every day. Breakfast had a good selection and stayed fully stocked. Beds are comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

I was very pleased with this Hyatt Place. Clean comfortable rooms and a great location surrounded by shops and restaurants yet still very quiet

Hyatt Places are usually very solid when traveling, and the Hyatt in Charlottesville is no different. My stay here was overall excellent! The rooms were clean and spacious, and the amenities were great as well. Beds were comfortable, and showers were warm. My only complaint about this place is that a small blood stain was found on two pillows… looked like a bloody nose or something. It wasn’t terrible, but I obviously had to switch pillows. The area around the hotel was cool and walkable… some fancier shopping and restaurants.

The area was terrific; we could walk to shopping and restaurants. Staff was slow to refill breakfast items, and in some cases just did not and so offerings were limited. The hotel itself was nicely decorated and comfortable.

On positive note, nice staff, good breakfast, and lots of EV chargers!

This is next to a shopping center with multiple restaurants. Would have liked a map/handout, the desk clerk said he doesn’t eat out. Great pool and breakfast!!

It was a confusing time as there was a computer glitch (nationwide) woth flights being cancelled, etc. None of the room keys worked, so the front desk had to escort you to your room each time you left and came back in. Just a little awkward.

Can't blame the property for key outage, but carpet was not as clean as it should have been. Great breakfast.

Very comfortable room with amazing views of sunrise and mountains. The pull out bed wasn’t too bad. The shower was amazing!! The area has many restaurants within a short drive, I could have walked to them but was tired after a long day of having fun

We requested an early check in for two rooms as we were attending an event that evening. The front desk (Naresh) was very considerate and arranged it and called us before we arrived that the rooms were ready. Thanks Naresh for making it a very pleasant stay. Excellent rooms and great breakfast! Added bonus some eating places and fancy shopping within walking distance.

Just a quick stop between travel. We stayed here because it said there was a bar however the employee didn’t know how to make a drink. Understaffed and unqualified personnel. Would not recommend!
