    The room floor looked nice seemed to be finished there, but first floor with the front desk still very much in progress. We cancelled.our stay on the way back next week so we didn't have to deal with it. Hope its better once the remodel is done.

    Did not realize that it was under renovation and was slightly surprised of that upon arriving. For advertising about breakfast it was very underwhelming and minimal selection. Room was clean but do not plan on staying again.

    The room was great. Very clean, smelled nice. The only thing that was concerning was the elevator. Button lights did not work and it was extremely creaky. Continental breakfast was as expected—eggs, make-your-own waffles, yogurt, coffee, bagels, toast.

    I was not aware there was active construction at this property. I would not have chosen this property. The room I stayed in was brand new. The water was not hot in shower. My allergies kick up around Sheetrock dust. I did not have time to figure out alternate accommodation so I just dealt with it.

    The hotel is still under construction. Only 1 floor is complete but, not completely. A side panel of the bathroom counter was missing. No hangars in the room, no coffee maker, no iron or iron board. There are not even hooks on the bathroom door for the towels. The shower head is very low. To wash your hair you need to bend down or go on your knees. There are no ice machines on the floor, only 1 machine on the first floor. The hotel is not ready yet for customers and should not be open until everything is complete. Our room still smelled like fresh paint and the floor is cold because there's no carpet or rug in the room.

    This is an older hotel that is getting a much needed renovation, but the rooms that are available need work with plumbing and beds. Our bed was horrible, old and you could feel the mattress springs.

    The property is under construction and they don’t let you know before you get there, so, be aware of that. The room wasn’t properly cleaned and we didn’t have enough towels. Nice staff and good location. Good breakfast.

    The facilities were clean We booked a king size bed with a pull out sofa, when we arrived the rooms no longer had pull out sofas, the person at the front desk said there was nothing they could do and sent me to Walmart for an air mattress. They refused to compensate me in anyway for having a less bed than we booked and the fact that i had to go out and buy an air mattress, sheets, and pillows . The manager refused to talk to me directly and was not on site. Our room keys constantly didnt work which was done purposely the side exterior doors never locked despite the signs saying they did and there was homeless people outside and people on drugs. The room seemed thrown together due to being under renovations. There was no chairs to sit in or the pullout sofa despite being what we booked. We could also hear everything going on in the conjoining room

    The whole building is under renovation, to the point that I think they shouldnt be open at all. There was mold in the shower, the walls were a bit dirty by the door area, the mirror on the bathroom door had a broken frame. Not to mention most of the bottom floor had boxes and construction stuff filling it, along with the tile around the reception desk not being finished. Breakfast was lackluster which just added to the feeling of discomfort being there. If you're thinking of staying here, please reconsider until they're at least done with renovations, maybe the rest will be fixed by then.

    The employees were without exception great. Very friendly and helpful. The hotel, however, was run down and shabby. When we booked our room, no mention was made of the renovation going on. Boxes of construction materials filling the main floor hallways and rooms. Plaster dust and grout everywhere. The noise wasn't too bad and restricted to daytime. The bathtub had black areas in the caulking and grout. The popcorn ceiling was bubbled and cracked open in spots. The chair in the room was so tattered and torn up, I actually took it back to the front desk and told them it needed to go into the dumpster. I was told that part of the renovation was new furniture. The hot breakfast was scrambled eggs and waffles, with the usual muffins, bagels, etc. We stayed for 4 days because the location suited our needs and the staff really were trying their best in a difficult situation. I'm sure the place will be beautiful. But I would steer clear of it for the next year or so. Be sure to ask how the renovation is coming because I doubt that they will volunteer that information.

    The facility was going through a remodeling. So a lot of dust in entryway. I found the staff competent and friendly. For weary travelers, the room was comfortable and rested well each night.     We were there while the lobby was being renovated. I assume the rooms will follow, and that's good, because the one we were in was dated, and the bathroom desperately needs a remodel from the studs out. But the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the hotel was quiet. That's all we needed. The gentleman who checked us in was awesome.

    The eggs were good for breakfast No laundry, room had previous guests items that smelled rancid. The elevator did not work. The tv was slow and didn’t have many channels. The room was uncut and dirty. I asked for a room on one of the ends and the places me in the exact middle next to the elevator that did not work. The only way out of the parking lot was up a steep hill it snowed. I got stranded there for 2 extra nights

On the second floor, there seemed to be no heat in the hallway which smelled like weed, and the HVAC unit in room required constant adjustment. There temperature setting on the unit was basically worthless. Maybe it will be better when construction is finished, but I would not recommended staying there as it exists currently.

    The beds felt like i had moved in with the Flintstones. Felt like i was laying on bedrock. One bed supposed to be soft and one firm, but both are like sleeping on the floor. It took forever to get my deposit back. I wont be staying there anymore, advise you not too.

    Property and stay was okay. I understand they were under construction in some areas of the Hotel. But when I entered my Hotel room. I kept hearing a beep as if I was in the Hospital. After looking and looking, I found an additional smoke alarm under the mattress along with items you would use for narcotic use. I called the front desk to explain what had happened and what I had found. I then took it downstairs and no one seemed bothered about the situation. No apology, no change of room recommendation or credit. My son and I ended up sleeping on the floor as we did not feel safe to sleep on the bed.

I asked to have my room changed initially because the original room smelled like cigarettes and was in terrible condition, but the second room was exactly the same, not to mention the mold in the bathroom. It felt dirty, full of germs, and I just could not imagine myself sleeping or even showering in a room with those conditions. I left the moment I saw my room and quickly booked myself a different hotel.

    I'm truly shocked they can advertise this property as 3 Stars. The exterior of the hotel is completely unbranded and bathed in an uninviting blue/grey color. The lobby was a nice surprise, but that was the extent of anything nice here. Our room had an odor to it, overlooked the dumpster, the walls were completely ruined, and the bathroom was quite dirty with hair and mildew on the shower wall. The smoke detector was chirping when we walked in, so we called maintenance who informed us he hopes nothing breaks in the hotel because he uses YouTube to fix everything. When I took a shower, the water went ice cold four times (assuming it was somehow connected to the toilet in a neighboring room), and the shower leaked through the bedsheet of a curtain and soaked the bathroom floor, including the clothes I had laid out to wear. The maintenance manager was quite nice (despite not being qualified for the position), but the property manager offered no response to our concerns. I am not a diva and wouldn't have complained about these items if the property was advertised correctly as a 1 or 2 Star hotel. But I cannot fathom how this can legally be listed as 3 Stars.

    I'm truly shocked they can advertise this property as 3 Stars. The exterior of the hotel is completely unbranded and bathed in an uninviting blue/grey color. The lobby was a nice surprise, but that was the extent of anything nice here. Our room had an odor to it, overlooked the dumpster, the walls were completely ruined, and the bathroom was quite dirty with hair and mildew on the shower wall. The smoke detector was chirping when we walked in, so we called maintenance who informed us he hopes nothing breaks in the hotel because he uses YouTube to fix everything. The room was not clean, and the ceiling had signs of a leak that was never properly fixed. The overall appearance was old, dirty, and unappealing. It felt nasty, and I didn’t feel comfortable staying there, so I left shortly after arriving. The only positive part of my experience was that the man at the front desk was very nice and professional. I would not recommend this hotel.

I had to clean around the sink before we used it. The shower faucets needed some manipulation to turn on and off.     I left after one day stay even though I paid for two nights.     The staff here were nice, but the pictures look better than the facility itself. Once I arrived, the outside of the facility was very old and outdated, and once I got inside even more, so my room was clean, again. It just looked very old. I did not have any problems with staffing or anyone there as far as the ambience go. It just wasn’t up to my standards. I personally would not go back.

    Our stay was so so...the toilet seat was wiggly, the bathroom door had one hinge, several issued keys had to be reset, noice in hallway at 1:30 AM and a girl showed up on our last day with a sheet wrapped around her to reception. She said all of her clothes were taken!!! I gave her some of mine. Other than that the young lady who works breakfast was excellent.

    The staff was nice and breakfast was good. It was typical breakfast -waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, bread. However, the elevator buttons didn’t work. It just stopped at each floor. Also, one of the bathrooms (we had 2 rooms) had a very slow filling toilet. You only had 1 flush and had to wait an hour for the tank to fill again. The other room didn’t have the toilet issues. Rooms were cleaned and when we needed extra bedding for a pullout couch bed, it was given.

I had a friend stay the night and they ended up getting sinus congestion because rooms didn’t have cleanliness to vacuum nor sirculation of air and the smell from the air conditioner. So some things need to be fix.

    While North Carolina’s roads are beautiful, the hotel’s parking lot was had potholes, trash on the ground, and overflowing garbage bins. Several homeless scattered around the parking lot which made the area feel unsafe with my daughter. Inside, the smell of marijuana. The elevator had some issues, the sheets looked old and worn. The only other access out of the hotels was via outdoor stairs, which had several blind spots—and one had a homeless person. Really! We stayed in the room for a short time left at night, rushing to our car and booking a different hotel. Never again.

    The Custer service is amaizing. The staff is great the area is safe the house keepers work extremely hard to give people a comfortable stay. The front desk people work fast to process people there rooms . And everything is extremely clean.

    Outside smelled like pee and cigarettes, inside was unclean. Toilet not flushed. Water temp/pressure wildly inconsistent. Late night there were people running yelling clapping down the halls. TONSSSS of weed and cigarette smoke coming through to our room late night which woke us up. I don’t believe the sheets were cleaned right. Very gross hotel

    The hotel photos on the website were old. I was placed in an adjoining room as solo traveler on the 1st floor. The desk attendant announced my room number while some stranger stood behind me. I did not feel safe. The room was dirty - carpet stains, sagging bed, desk chair had stains. I sat on a bath towel to keep from getting dirty. I did not stay there, I searched for a new hotel and checked out.

    place needs considerable improvement with many things broken or in degraded condition yet with the right timely renovations it could become a success. currently they are allowing transient type folks or use of substances to reside their whether short or long term and should immediately start being choosier about whom they rent to period. bad characters will turn off decent customers and nobody wants to see the cops have to respond to losers at this hotel causing mayhem. attract business and family clients not grungy people who will cause property damage

    It was okay the bed did have some stains, the toilet would not flush so I went and complained to the front desk and they told me they would get someone to take a look at it and they did make the necessary changes. The area is not the best and I don't think I would stay here again I only stayed one night thank goodness

    It was clean, but needs upgrading. Outlets on lamp would not hold a charger, they were worn out. Furniture all scuffed up, walls had chips and rough spots. Housekeeping never came.

    The room was clean and comfortable while the building overall would benefit from cosmetic improvements. Breakfast was ok, but you had to present a ticket which you had to acquire from the front desk every day. Never experienced that anywhere else. Only real complaint is that I could frequently smell pot from my room which was right next an outdoor stairwell.

    While the staff was nice, I didn’t really feel safe as a woman traveling by herself staying at that facility. In my room particular, when I got there and went to look out the window, there was a homeless man with a bunch of trash and garbage bags right below my room. The rooms air conditioner did not get very cool, the coffee maker did not work, and most of the outlets did not work. And although I was offered to change rooms, I had just unloaded all of my stuff, so did not go with that. The sheets Are of the cheapest quality, the kind that make you sweat. I think a lot of people who do not have homes stay here, a lot of construction workers, so while a man might feel fine staying here, I am a traveling registered nurse and I did not feel fine.

    Not at ALL what was depicted on the hotels.com website. When we arrived, there was a banner hung on the side of the building instead of a regular sign. There was nefarious characters milling about the property as we entered the lobby. When we arrived at our room we smelled pot as we walked down the hall way. Then right next to our door was a stairway exit door that had see though glass. There was a man outside on the open area at stop of stairs smoking. The door was propped open yet it was a way to get into the hotel. We went to dinner and came back to the same scene of nefarious character milling about. Then we arrived at our door to find the same man sitting on the top of the stairwell now smoking with a bottle of liquor at his feet. You could hear intermittent shouts and cries. We called and reported this to the front desk and asked for the manager. The clerk said manager will not be on property until the morning...it was 8 pm. He said he would come up and talk to the man on the stairway landing. Then, I checked my bank account to discover that not only did the hotel charge my debit card/bank account for a $100 incidental charge but also charged $205 for the rest of our stay. I called to the front desk seeking to talk to the manager, but not in a nice way so the clerk hung up on me and said i could not talk to a manager. We left without spending the night at that property. Also, the free breakfast would require us to present a ticket to enter.

    The staff was really great but the rooms were unkempt, leaky faucets and toilets . I found a used bandaid in my freshly “cleaned “ bed when we had to switch rooms because of poor plumbing , the bathrooms had hair on the floors and the smoke from cigarettes travelled to our non smoking rooms. The best thing about this place was the staff - all super friendly and accommodating but the rooms were very unclean.

    Cons: The entire hotel smelled like marijuana. Literally the entire hotel: the parking lot, the elevator, hallways, and everything in the rooms (bed linens, carpet, towels etc). On arrival, the hallway on the floor with our rooms was actually smokey. I told the staff at the front deck about the smoke and they said they would “look into it”. The smoke and smell was so bad that it stuck to our clothes and hair. We embarrassing arrived at a wedding with our family smelling like weed. We stayed two nights and smoke situation was TERRIBLE the entire stay. We also saw people (unsure if they were guests, staff, or non hotel people)) smoking weed and drinking out of brown paper bags in the parking lot. Morning to night, this place was smokey and stinky. The hotel is older, but clean and comfortable. Had it not been for all weed smoke/stink, we would consider staying again.

    When we checked in we had to wait while the employee was fixing issues- which is fine in itself- but then we found stains on our sheets and our mini fridge did not work. When asked to just swap these items we were told it would be done and wasn't which caused our food to go bad. They ended up swapping us to a new room which the bed in was pretty awful. Paint was falling off the walls and the wifi was barely useble. The guy at the desk on the afternoons was great and breakfast (and the breakfast attendant) was good as well.

    The hotel is not what it looks like online. they need to update their photos. its basically a trap/ghetto hotel. the ceiling in our room was all over the floor like it needs to be remodeled or cleaned or maybe just throw the whole building away and start over again. only perks is that its very close to great dining options and shopping.
