I was disappointed the pool was marked closed. It looked nice and very inviting. Perhaps they had just put chlorine in or something. However, Saturday at 4:00 was not a great time for it to be out of service. One special mention. Mike at the front desk was exceptional. Very friendly and helpful. He assigned me the right room considering I was a woman traveling alone, and made sure I knew how to get to a couple of places that I wanted to walk to. He’s a very good employee.

Overall sizeable suite. However the hotel could use some updates. Our initial room had some structural issue with bathroom molding and shower being cracked. The room also had a slight odor. The staff was very accommodating and friendly; switched us to a more suitable room without issue.

The hotel is in a convenient location, easy to get in and out. The breakfast was average for a hotel that price and we ate there the four mornings, the pool looked nice, even though we didn’t use it. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. We had a couple of requests and they fulfilled them in no time. It was a short family vacation and we would consider staying there again.

We found this hotel fast because we didn’t plan well for the trip we had for a wedding, but this was best hotel experience my husband and I have had in a long time. Staff were amazing; they remembered our names and greeted us every time they saw us. Continental breakfast was better than most - we didn’t go out even once for breakfast. Our room was spacious and we loved having the little kitchenette. The bed was down a mini hallway so you feel like the space was super private. We even preferred it over the resort the bride and groom were staying in! We’d go back in a second.

Michael at the front desk provided exceptional service, which was greatly appreciated by my family and me. We observed that two female staff members, specifically a cleaning professional with purple hair and the individual overseeing breakfast service, did not engage in verbal communication. The swimming pool facility was inaccessible for two days due to the necessity of chemical rebalancing. Our accommodations were maintained in a clean and comfortable condition. Overall, we consider this to be a commendable establishment, and we have consistently chosen to stay here one to two times annually since 2022.

I was assigned a handicapped room for unknown reasons. I had initially told the hotel that I needed a ground floor room because I was bringing two dogs but my plans changed when I found birding for the dogs and I called the hotel and told them I didn't need a ground floor room after all because I won't bringing pets. The room was not well appointed, the shower drained out onto the bathroom floor because there was wheelchair access to the shower. I did not like the way the room was decorated. The open floor space was not people friendly, it was not furnished to my expectations. I didn't complain because we'd been boating all day and had traveled over 50 miles by water. We were exhausted. Other than the room not being suitable for able-bodied residents everything else was good. The breakfast didn't have any fresh fruit except for bananas and apples. I was hoping for fresh cantaloupe and watermelon on Mother's Day Sunday.

The complimentary breakfast was solid, particularly when biscuits and gravy was on the menu. Where this property disappoints is in its general condition. The hotel is tired, old and needs to be refurbished/upgraded. Staff was pleasant and accommodating

Breakfast was okay, but pretty standard and nothing special. It did the job for a short stay, but there wasn’t anything particularly memorable about the experience. Would consider staying again if the price and location made sense.

The staff was kind, but the rooms were definitely suffering from wear and tear. The bed and doors all creaked and the room just looked like it had been cleaned but not maintained.

My two room sweet was spacious and great for my dad and I. It’s only about 13 minutes from the airport, and 10-15 minutes from downtown. Downtown is charming but expensive and crowded; we thought it was great that we chose a location away from popular tourist spots. The negatives are it is extremely outdated and badly in need of an upgrade, and the breakfast is meh. There are some good restaurants very close by.

the room was clean, staff was helpful and cherrie, kitchen was fully equipment. However breakfast was free with my stay and the buffet was fully stock and fresh.

Poor management, rude staff, 2-3 hours late checking, torn carpet in our room, front door almost impossible to close and open, very noisy drunk visitors left free to enjoy their parties even after midnight. Staff just pretend they care. Nothing done to remedy any of the problems. This looks like a cheap motel not like good brand hotel. Shame for Marriott!

Staff was super friendly. Had issues with remote control for TV. Went through 3 different remotes before getting one that actually worked. Room was clean, but it needed some TLC. Wallpaper was peeling off the bathroom walls. Breakfast is free but the options weren’t great. The jalapeño and cheese egg souflee was gross.

The only issue we had was the microwave in our room didn't work, we called the front desk and we were able to use the kitchen microwave thanks to Michael. Overall it was a good stay, clean, comfortable and everything we needed.

Out of 4 nights there, we were moved to 3 different rooms. 1st room was dirty, 2nd room had no heat, so we froze in 40 degree weather all night, 3rd room the sleeper sofa was broke.

I booked a Queen room with 2 beds and was given a King room without my knowledge. Once I entered the room and saw only one bed, I went back to the Front desk and was told no other rooms were available. The person who I was to share the room with, felt compelled to seek other accommodations.

It felt better than the climate at Comfort Inn on Bee St, but still had that low budget hotel kind of feel with the vibe I got.

Bed was hard as a rock and my head sunk right through the two pillows. The AC unit turning on and off was so loud it woke me up throughout the night. Was not a comfortable night sleep. Liked the kitchenette and the free breakfast is one of the better ones

The only I didn't like is the Internet is slow and the TV is not enough options in the application for streaming movies on Amazon on the TV because Internet issues on the laptop.

We absolutely love this hotel. The staff are friendly and always have good feedback about local things to do. The continental breakfast is good. The rooms are super clean and up to date. We have stayed here before and were thrilled to get placed in the same room as last time. It's quiet and convenient to downtown Charleston, Folly Beach, and the airport. We will always stay here when we visit the area.

I’m OBSESSED with Charleston Sc. We celebrated our son’s birthday here SEVERAL times. We loved it & came to celebrate his 19th birthday. The hotel was clean, spacious, welcoming, very well stocked, and whatever we needed they provided instantly. The beds were comfortable & clear of all bugs (bed bugs) the bathroom was clean too. I have NO COMPLAINTS! I didn’t want to leave. It felt like home. I DEFINITELY recommend this hotel. We had a 2 bdrm corner room. Room 233 My husband, myself, our son, & our daughter had more than enough space. We always over pack but that wasn’t an issue. On our last day we saw 2 housekeepers & they were very friendly. Thank you TownePlace Suites you made our stay very pleasant.💜💜

Plenty of room for the wife and kids. It was a family event and we went a day early and let us merge the reservations so we did not have to change rooms. Great place overall.

My son, who is a cadet at The Citadel and it was his last sleep before going back to school said the bed was the best bed he’s ever slept in!! I’d love to know what the make of the mattress is!! I’d like to stay the ENTIRE staff we encountered while our one night stay was AMAZING! So kind and helpful! Briauna is the one who checked us in, she was so very sweet and helpful. She gave us helpful info about restaurants around town and made sure we were comfortable for our stay. She was very enthusiastic about my son being a Citadel cadet. I think it was the maintenance manager, he was so personable. He talked to my son while we were waiting for the elevator and was very engaging and fun to talk to! The lady who checked us out was also incredibly nice, I didn’t get her name. Your entire staff is doing the right thing and you should be pleased they are representing your company! We will be back for our next stay! Thank you!!!

When we arrived and were assigned a room, after unpacking half of our items, we realized that the handles for the stovetop were broken and the cooktop would not work. We repacked our things and were assigned to a new room that did have a working cooktop. However, the only cooking item in the room was an extremely small pot and lid that I could pick up with one hand. The first morning the breakfast at the hotel was fine, it was a weekend and the breakfast included biscuits, grits, waffles, etc so that everyone in my family had something to eat. Unfortunately, that is only offered on the weekends which I did not know before booking this hotel. There were no plain biscuits, no waffles, no grits and the orange juice was out 2 days in a row. The “scrambled eggs” were undercooked each day we were there. Both my husband and I experienced rude service from most of the staff, only the young woman who checked us in was professional and seemed to understand that she was working a job. When my husband asked the front desk for more bath towels, she sighed because she was on her cell and acted put-out to have to stop her personal conversation. I had to ask the front desk for pool towels and the man acted the same way, also on his cell the whole time.

The bed was great, the service was great, the price was great and the coffee was good. The breakfast was terrible, the water pressure was low, and the parking lot was frustrating. Other than that, it was good and I would stay again.

Service is something that certainly can improve. Asked for bedding set for the sofa bed got blanket that was not even fully dry. Rooms can have more towels. 4th floor had weed smell at times. These thing have to be stopped. Breakfast is good though at times refill can be a bit slow.

I arrived at Towne Plaze after a terrible experience with car rental situation.I was teary eyed and Valina staff at desk was amazingly kind. The enire staff were so thkughtful amd kind.I really cannot say enough good things of them all. The suites are sooo clean and wonderful. God bless them all

Valaina was wonderful at check-in. Very polite and accommodating. Room was nice. Enjoyed breakfast, but would have liked waffles.

The Pros: good location, breakfast was good and the lobby looks nice. Cons: Room 233's furniture is run down. The carpet is cut, the furniture is worn out and stained, the shower curtain has stains, there is tape on the walls hiding what I don't know. There were holes in the sheets, the AC had an odor, no sheets for sofa sleeper and the mattress was terrible. This room was not worth the money.

Valaina was the best part of our 7 night stay. She was always so welcoming and greeted us with a smile. All of the staff including housekeeping were very friendly and eager to accommodate … if given the right tools, this hotel could be exceptional. The breakfast was not that great. Please consider offering waffles/ variety of fruit daily. The milk was spoiled. The pool was missing half the water and we had to wait 2 days to use it. I canceled my reservations at another hotel specifically for the waffles seen in your hotel pictures and the pool. (My daughter loves both). The rooms are so dated, even my kids notes how dark and dingy they were. If you are planning on cooking bring your own pans and cooking utensils as these were not available. The doors are extremely heavy and the key cards don’t work very well sometimes took 3-4 times to open the door. The laundry machines are dated but did the job. Would have been nice to have a few machines on each floor. Again.. your staff, without a doubt, were the best hotel staff I’ve encountered in a long time. Now give them the tools they need to make this a hotel everyone will want to come back to.

Rooms were nice. Breakfast was very bad. Milk was spoiled and had lumps in it. The outside doors did not work with keycards even to the pool area so we had to walk around to the front entrance every time.

The staff was friendly and efficient. Room was quiet. Kitchenette was adequately equipped for a short stay. Everything was clean. Breakfast was convenient but basic and could have had more fresh fruit and choices of herbal teas. My main reason for not giving a higher rating was lack of hot water for morning showers. 8:45 a.m. cool water temperature, 7:45 a.m. the next morning was tepid at best.

We spent 8 days. Everything was clean, friendly staff and convenient to everything. Will definitely book again.

This was by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in, it was super clean, smelled nice, breakfast was so good and service was excellent. The room had a huge stocked kitchen, full size bathroom. We will definitely be returning whenever we're are in the area again.

The breakfast was another letdown – very limited options and not what I expected from a Marriott property. My room was also missing a stovetop, and even though I reported it, nothing was done to address it during my stay. Overall, my concerns were ignored, and the service fell far below expectations. I won’t be coming back.

Staff was great, I will start with that…..All friendly, all helpful. Room size was great also, even had 2 separate bedrooms which my teenage son really appreciated. Rooms are in need of repairs and run down though. Rips in carpet, towel rack fell off the wall when I grabbed a towel from showering, toilet rocked when you sat on it but the real annoying thing about the stay was that my door never worked, I wasn’t offered a different room or a discount… just we will let you in your entire stay which is really uncomfortable for someone who doesn’t just sit in a room but still enjoys privacy which I felt none of after 3 staff members in total let me in and entered the edge of room. Again though the staff was great and the highlight of the stay but not thrilled with my stay otherwise.

Smells old. My curtain rod was coming off on one end, dangerous to walk by. The sofa bed was very springy and uncomfortable with almost no cushion. Nice friendly staff.

Well it didn’t start out to good….there was a big storm that came through prior to our arrival and knock out the power. Not your fault. I totally understood and I worked in the field of repair. With that being said, we couldn’t check in and I asked a few questions and I even offered to get them dinner from a local restaurant where power wasn’t out. The person was very dry and acted annoyed cause I was asking. When we could finally check in, the person was not very friendly and I was very disappointed in her demeanor.

Staff was friendly and professional. It was a half work, half play trip so appreciated the wi-fi and free breakfast. Only down side, the kitchenette is sparse. If you plan to cook (it is near a grocery store), bring your own cooking utensils, pots and pans. Theirs are not well maintained. The hotel is well placed for the area, plenty of restaurants around and no more than a 30 minute drive to any of the sights. Even made a day trip to Savannah. Will definitely stay again if ever in the area.

It was nice having a little kitchen area to have a few things in the hotel room. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and the bed and pillows were soft and comfy. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The property was clean and well maintained. The location is great with side walks convenient for walking and easy to get transportation. Dinning and shopping close by and Folly beach not to far from location by car. Large parking lot if you drive your own car.

I came in late after working all day and then driving from Charlotte. Front desk was on point. Very courteous and helpful. Room size and amenities were a bonus. Looking forward to a return visit and will stay a couple of days 😀

Rooms were good. Breakfast was scarce at times. Need more consistent housekeeping during stay especially towels and washcloths.

My friends and I had a good stay it had nice amenities. The breakfast was very good and the staff friendly. They didn’t charge us extra although they could have for an extra person that joined our room after I booked it. However, the room had a slightly damp smell, possibly the carpet and the carpet had a rip in one section. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom when we arrived and our TV never worked. We didn’t mind so much about the TV and should have let them know earlier to fix it, but when we let them know them know at night around 8:30pm they never came to fix it.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They went out of thier way to make our stay great! We enjoyed swimming in the pool each evening. The location was perfect. We would definitely stay again.

The location was perfect. The only problem the water took way too long to heat up. The coffee that was in the room was old. I brewed a batch and it was light brown.

The room was nice and mostly clean except when we found a rogue fork behind a table leg, which unless housekeeping moved the table, they wouldn't have seen it. We moved the table to play cards. Beds were comfy, good hot water for showers. Breakfast was hot and fresh. The gym was clean but only had 1-5lb dumbell but was still able to do my workout and I wish they had had something like a Leg Press machine for a good leg workout, but I made do. Loved having a full kitchen and fridge. We were located centrally to all the things we wanted to do throughout Charleston, Mt Pleasant, N. Charleston and saved money by staying here rather downtown. Would definitely stay there again.

Had a wonderful stay! Room was spacious with kitchen and full refrigerator. Breakfast had plenty of options. Plenty of room to sit and eat. Place was in a quiet area just off Rt. 17. Easy access to Charleston. Front desk people were so kind and accommodating. Will definitely stay here again!

I stayed at this establishment this previous weekend (Father's Day Weekend). The hotel itself is dated and need updates but I could deal with that. The woman who checked me in named Ashley was very sweet and professional. However, there was a power outage that started at 10:30am. I left the hotel and went to a friends hotel to get ready for a wedding. I came back to the hotel around 4:30pm and the power was still out. When I returned to the hotel around midnight the power was back on, thank God! I continued my stay and checked out on Sunday. I had Expedia call to see if there would be some kind of compensation for that 1 day I was not able to stay. My agent stated the person who answered the phone "Michele" lied and said there was not an outage!! He tried to call back and no one would answer the phone. He felt so bad!. Doing business with integrity and honesty will get you further and keep customers coming back. Take note!

We stayed for two nights as a family of five, and we were very comfortable with two separate bedrooms and a living room in between. Thank you very much.

Rooms not cleaned very well and lights in kitchen above the sink didnt work. Carpet was not swept very well at all.

The staff at this property stands out for their courtesy, pleasantness, and willingness to solve any problem. Our television initially was not working, but a maintenance man came, explored the issue, found the problem, and fixed it. The breakfast staff was talkative, friendly, and welcoming, and the front desk very accommodating. Kudos to management as well for hiring people who want to be of assistance.

The hotel was exactly what we needed for a weekend with two children. Great to have the kitchen to store food/drinks.

My family and I have moved back to Charleston. The entire staff was GREAT. They made us comfortable at a trying time and took care of our needs!

The hotel is dated. Its not horrible but I wont be coming back. Housekeeping could do a better job. Had issues with trash not being taken out and room not cleaned when requested. Bottles of shampoo not refilled. Carpet was dirty. The people who do the breakfast were wonderful. Only 2 luggage carts for the whole hotel. Not horrible but could be better

Rooms need some maintenance/repair. Other than that, its fine. We told the receptionist about the problems in the room, she said it would be done, but it never happend.

My family and I had a wonderful stay. The staff was very friendly and professional. They were very accommodating and answered all of our many questions since it was a first visit for some of my family to Charleston. We arrived early for check-in and decided to do some shopping until our room was ready. When we returned we got a big surprise when we found out that we had been upgraded. Kudos! The only suggestion that I have is that the couch and chair in the living room needs to be replaced. The couch was very stained. No one sat on it. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

I had booked a room with 2 queen beds. They did not have that room available. I had to get a room with 1 bed and I had 3 travelers.

It was a dirty hotel not at all what I expect from a Marriott property. No one entered our room to clean it until the fourth day after complaining for three days stained lamb shades, filth on the carpet and overall a disgusting experience. The food was not adequate as I wanted Greek yogurt and people walked out with five of them and I was unable to get one. I want compensation on my reservation before I pay it.

Unsure everyday about cleaning room. They did not clean our room. I did!!! Had to ask for towels, soap and shower cap.

This is the second time that we have stayed there. We have been very happy with our time spent there great service nice room comfortable bed.

The water pressure is very low - difficult to take a shower. Bed mattress was terrible, pull out sofa was broken. Not up to Marriott brand quality.

Staff were pleasant courteous and always eager to help with any questions or needs.

The rooms smelled of urine, rugs were torn, air conditioners were noisy.

The only thing I didn't like was the bed was too hard for me personally, but otherwise it gets high makes on everything. Staff was especially personable and helpful

This property does not look like much from the outside, but on the inside, the rooms are all suites with a small kitchenette. And the staff is second to none… Especially Calvin, who was very helpful.

I have stayed in other townessuites which were great. This hotel is worn and tired.

The first thing I noticed was the overwhelming smell of moth balls. There was also random body hair on the shower walls. I tried using the “sink” in the room but the drain did not drain… I wouldn’t stay here if they gave again me a free room.

I’m torn in my review with this hotel. The room was somewhat cleaned. And I say somewhat because I come from a housekeeping background. It needed a good vacuum and dusting. The kitchen area like dishwasher needed to be wiped down and shined. Water left in iron which (if you know, you know) causes rust in the iron and it stained my shirt for my grandmothers 85th birthday party but luckily I wore a vest so it wasn’t seen. The check in and out staff was very friendly. Everyone that worked there greeted me in the property. The guests above us made noise for hours walking back and forth stomping. But I was too tired to complain (so that’s on me). The pull out couch was awful. Mattress stained crumbs everywhere I had to wipe it down and clean it better. And it needed to be vacuumed underneath. One of the electric panels was hanging from the wall under the desk, more of an eye sore instead of a bother. They definitely need a better rooms inspector before punching rooms that were recently checked out. The linens were clean and fresh. I had one set of towels for two people and no bed in a bag so I had to go downstairs myself and get it. Because I felt bad for front desk staff because it was crazy on the property with rude little kids running everywhere. Very accessible from restaurants to tourist attracts.

We enjoyed staying here. We've been here before and it was just as pleasant as this time..
