Reviews
Guests consistently praise the hotel's location, describing it as unbeatable, perfect, and in the heart of Charleston with easy access to shops, restaurants, and major sites. The staff's friendliness and southern hospitality are also frequently highlighted. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the beds and parking process.

Parking at the garage and walking to the inn was only a slight hassle. The inn itself was SO CHARMING!!! Beautifully decorated and maintained. Night front desk staff girl was SO nice and SO helpful!! Your room key is an ACTUAL KEY!! Room was lovely and comfortable. The AM coffee was good too. Would definitely stay here again!!

Included breakfast was fine... I loved the option to have it done room service style by electing your options the evening prior. I like the overall decor of the room. The fireplace was great. I was incredibly dismayed by our view and the overall disturbance of construction immediately outside our windows. It was a complete nuisance (noise, accesibility, etc). The parking garage proximity was fine but we were instructed to park on floor 5. The elevator did not work...NOT good for someone with a recovering torn tendon and back ailment. The happy hour/evening social was a nice perk but there was not enough seating (we sat in the freezing courtyard...heat lamps would have helped) nor was there an offerings of a non-alcoholic beverage (not everyone drinks alcohol yet happy hour is still a common enjoyment).

The room and location were great The parking situation is the most inconvenient I have ever encountered. We had to carry our luggage a half block. Then your parking choice is the 5th floor of a parking garage also a half block away.

Great location! Clean rooms. Breakfast is extremely fresh especially the fruit, but it is a continental with no meat. A hard-boiled egg is the only protein. Don't think you are going to get an omelet and bacon. Coffee in the common area was luke warm/getting cold most of the time. We ended up door dashing for Starbucks. BUT I will say that you cannot beat the location. Right in the heart of King with everything walkable. I would still pick this hotel again for the location alone.

Breakfast was nice - there was a menu to order from, and it wasn't cook to order stuff (more like yogurt, bagels, etc) but there was a good variety. The fireplace in the room was appreciated as the New Years Eve weather was quite cold. The courtyards were cute and would have been enjoyable in warmer weather.

This hotel is beautiful - from the architecture, lobby, outdoor spaces, to the rooms. Our hotel room was spacious with lovely furnishings. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I especially loved having the delicious croissants, pastries and coffee delivered to our room each morning and the wine and cheese/crackers happy hour each day. It is also very walkable - to shops, restaurants, bars, the fountain, waterfront. We wandered the streets looking at all the beautiful century homes. Parking is in a garage a short walk behind the hotel. There is an empty lot directly behind the hotel...not sure why the hotel does not use it?. But the garage was fine. We had a wonderful time in Charleston and when we return, we will definitely stay at Kings Courtyard again!

The property is a small historic hotel. They still use actual keys for the rooms. No key cards, which you don’t see a lot of these days. It was very quiet and in a safe area. Very walkable to shopping and dining. Breakfast was included and they will bring it up to your room if you want them too. They provide menu cards that you have to fill out and hang on your door before 11 PM every night. Look

I loved the quaintness of the hotel. It has that Charleston charm. If I could suggest one thing, it would be to install a ramp in the back entrance at the parking lot. It was a bit difficult to get across the curbing and the uneven sidewalk. If that area would be modified for easier access it would be wonderful and could also accommodate handicapped and elderly.

It is a quaint hotel in the middle of town, so very convenient to everything. However, the rooms next to the street are VERY noisy and the nightclub across the street is VERY LOUD with music and crowds until 2am...then the crowd outside doesn't disperse until about 4am. I just expected more for $300 /night.

This little hidden gem of an historic hotel is tucked away in THE PERFECT location. Out the front door is King Street, with all the big name shops. Out the back door, across the small lot where your car is parked, the Charleston market is only a short two minutes away. You are truly in the middle of everything, with no need to move your car unless you want to go to the beach or leave the historic district. The hotel itself is stunning. Hospitality is as Southern as it gets, with breakfast in the morning, wine and cheese reception in the evening, and a sherry night cap before bed, all complimentary. The room was unbelievably spacious and comfortable. The option to light the gas fire place was a nice touch. Every employee we spoke to was so kind and helpful. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

We took this trip to Charleston as a mother daughter senior trip. After being indecisive in choosing an inn or hotel, we finally decided on the Kings Courtyard Inn. We ended up being so happy with our decision. The whole place was so charming. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We had a couple of extra little “wishes” and they made them happen. The room (2 double beds) was perfect and larger than I felt like the photos made them seem. Very clean. We were very pleasantly surprised by the warm breakfast options that were brought to us each morning with no extra charge. We will definitely be back. 👌

If you gave the option for half stars I would give this place a 2.5 star rating. The hotel itself was ok but the rooms had paper thin walls and you can hear anyone in the next rooms or above easily as well as anyone walking by the room. The fountains outside could be heard and it was load. I mentioned this to the front desk person and she agreed that the walls were thin but said people in surrounding rooms would be gone the next night as the place had emptied out that day. The noise from the fountains and people walking by continued again the next night. I was even offered another quieter room away from the noise. In addition parking there had a barrier and I had to park for 15 or so minutes at a closed bank parking. After I walked into the hotel and got directions on how to access the parking lot o went back to the car to move it and was greeted by a ticket cop who issued me a $50 ticket. Seemed a little strange being in an empty bank parking spot for only a short time. I told the hotel front desk and asked if they would take care of it as access to their lot was blocked. Their manager only covered the equivalent of $35 of the fee. If a hotel has a parking area defined that is public they should make sure access is available to guests and not have guests jump through hoops. Below average service considering the three strikes I encountered in my experience. So 2.5 rating and I wouldn’t go there again.

Our room was lovely but faced King Street. Noise from the street, especially music from the oyster bar across the street, was excessive. Hotel staff were very nice but offered nothing to compensate for our inability to sleep and my having to cross the street to bar, at night, and personnaly ask manager to turn the music down.

The property was charming with a lot of character. Very convenient to all shopping and dining options in the heart of the historic district. Surrounding area, streets were clean and felt safe at night walking to and from hotel. Loved the hour of wine and cheese in the evening and sherry at night! The only negative we had was lobby smelled musty and our first room offered on the first floor right outside of courtyard as well and the carpet in the first room looked dirty and may have been damp. They had a small dehumidifier/air purifier running in the room. We were able to change our room to second floor and had a room with hardwood floors which was much better. Still had somewhat of a musty smell but we bought a candle and that really helped. Overall, we would stay again.

Breakfast service was excellent. Breakfast choices were limited. Just one special item per day would make breakfast more appealing. The location couldn't be better for access to the historical sites and shopping district. Certain staff at the reception desk were indifferent to questions about the area. We realize that the hotel doesn't have concierge service, but when a staff member is sitting undistracted at the reception desk, guests should not feel as though they are intruding for asking a question related to their visit.

The property is absolutely beautiful and in the heart of all the action- but very quiet! The rooms are gorgeous, clean, and the beds are very comfy. I only stayed here one night but will plan to return again. As a side note, I was travelling alone this leg of my trip and was selective about finding a place where I would feel safe- this was Perfect!

You do need to pay for parking (17.00). The parking is on the backside of the hotel. They have complimentary win and cheese from 5:00 to 6;00. You can can go down stairs for coffe and breakfast or have it delivered.

This small cozy hotel is in a historic building. The lobby is a lovely sitting room. A courtyard within the building provides a perfect place to relax and unwind on the patio. Our room was well planned, complete with a table for complementary room service continental breakfast, a very comfortable bed, and a desk/dresser/armoire built-in. There was a complementary wine and cheese happy hour and a glass of brandy offered later in the evening. The hotel’s location is a quick walk to the Market, great restaurants, and Charleston Place. In the middle of everything yet a quiet retreat. We were very impressed.

The area is great because it's near everything in the historic district. The property doesn't really offer anything extra, like a pool or a hot tub. It's just a basic room for somewhere around 400 per night on the weekends. Not even a bath tub. Parking is not user friendly. I got a ticket with a bar code from the office so It could be scanned in order to go in and out of the parking lot, but it would not work when I was trying to leave and every time I wanted to enter or leave it would not work so I had to continually call the city to let me in or out. The hotel told me they had validated the ticket but it still wouldn't work. The morning continental breakfast is not self serve. One morning I went with my wife to get the breakfast and the table had not been wiped off from the previous guest. When the waitress came I asked to have it wiped. I didn't quite understand her spoken response so I asked her to repeat and she responded in an indignant manner saying she would do it when she brought our drink or food. I wasn't happy with the unfriendly treatment I received so my wife and I just left. We weren't missing much. The granola was stale anyway.

The only thing I think the whole city needs to do is improve their roads and parking lots. A disabled person would have a difficult time walking.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Loved the wine and cheese every day and the sherry in the evening. Great location with parking ($17 per day is very reasonable). I was impressed with how modern and clean the bathroom was. And even though we had a room with no view, we were very comfortable in our room. May I also suggest tipping the waitress that serves breakfast. I think a lot of people assume since the breakfast is included in your stay that you don’t have to tip. Our waitress was very appreciative of our tip.

We loved our stay at Kings Courtyard Inn. Next time I will ask for a room overlooking King Street. The staff were all attentive and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. You can’t beat this location on King Street. We will stay here again next time we come to Charleston.

Such a fabulous location! King Street out the front door and the Market a block out the back door! Bay Street which is loaded with restaurants in only a few blocks walk! Perfect location! Every member of staff we encountered was so unbelievably nice!

Lovely Inn with a perfect location to walk to stores and restaurants. It could use some TLC in the main entrance from King Street. It’s not very inviting. Overall a nice experience. We enjoyed the wine and cheese hour and the fireplace in our room.

Cute little hotel in the heart of King Street. Definitely older and needs some touchups to their paint. Great fireplace in room, which made it really cozy. Free breakfast, but was minimal. Mostly oatmeal, some fruit and toast. Complimentary wine happy hour and Sherry was a great touch. I would definitely stay again.

The hotel building had a lot of character and the staff was very welcoming. Our room was comfortable and we appreciated that the continental breakfast could be brought to the room by a staff member while we were getting ready to go for the day. The location is right in the heart of the historic district.
