Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its location, cleanliness, and breakfast options. However, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with the parking fees, comfort of the mattresses, and cleanliness of the bathrooms.
- Excellent location
- Clean and well-equipped suites
- Parking is not included and can be expensive
- Mattress comfort and bathroom cleanliness are inconsistent

The room and the bathroom were very nice, up-to-date, and clean. The location isn't completely central, but the area is very pleasant and is about a 15 min walk from the real city center. The staff were were very helpful. The breakfast was a little limited in terms of the choices even though what was available was not bad.

Good location. Valet parking was good. Room wasn’t cleaned after first night and when I asked why, was told for shorter stays they don’t always clean the room! I’ve never heard of this as a policy. I’m paying for a service. Wouldn’t book a Hyatt again if this is actually company policy. And then when it was cleaned I could see it hadn’t been hoovered. Poor cleaning.

The room was fantastic. It had a kitchen, lounge area, and bedroom area. All pretty modern and spacious. Just sitting at the top of town was great for all I wanted to do. The staff were excellent! All very helpful and friendly, and the hotel was very clean. It’s not often you can give 10/10 for everything but they really nailed it! Nothing!

Did not eat breakfast there. Hotel is in a great location with many shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. We did a longer walk and walked to the beautiful waterfront.

It is conveniently located next to the Music Hall and many restaurants.

The personnel at the front desk, and really everywhere were fantastic. Very helpful and friendly. Rooms were smaller that i expected but everywhere else was clean and updated.

The front desk, I believe her name was Annalisa, went above and beyond for my daughter's 8th birthday "staycation." When we checked in, they sang happy birthday and gave her a little goodie bag with her favorite treats. She and her friends thought it was just magical that the front desk somehow knew it was her birthday! Truly so sweet. They loved the indoor pool and swam almost the entire evening. The beds, even the pull out couch, was very comfortable. The breakfast the next morning had everything and more you could want. The girls were amazed at the variety. Wonderful stay and hope to do it again sometime! n/a

We were surprised to find a full kitchen- full size fridge, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove and microwave/ convection oven. Wonderful to go to grocery store and be able to cook in room without having to go out to eat for each meal. The staff were very, very friendly and helpful with any request we had. Extra blankets/ pillows/ shower chair/ towels. Downstairs was a great experience- convenient store with snacks- dinners- ice cream- drinks- wine and beer available. Breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve been to. Good variety to choose from. We got valet parking, which was a great perk and worth the small price. Roof top bar and restaurant was amazing with beautiful views and the selection of different beers and drinks was fantastic- food was outstanding. A few suggestions- needs ice available on every floor- potholders for kitchen/ dishes and glasses on lower shelf’s-an actual list printed out with instructions on how to turn heat/ ac on, how to call for room service/ maintenance. Only complaint is the swimming pool- it was open from 6:30 am -10 pm. We were looking forward to swimming and relaxing in the heated pool. We waited until we thought there wouldn’t be a lot of people in the pool. A big family, mostly kids under the age of 12, running, horse playing, loud screaming, got splashed too many times. We know you can’t control who uses the pool but they took over the whole area. Would’ve been nice to have a separate area for adult only hot tubs.

Very nice people including desk folks, valet attendants and all service - breakfast providers as well as floor attendants. The pool is fantastic. Bar attendants were very honest and helpful. It is not the hotel fault. But the view from the bar is rather industrial. Hopefully it will be better at some point of time.

I have no complaints!

I appreciated the friendliness of the staff and clarity of explanation of facilities and amenities. From the valet to the front desk, it was a very pleasant experience. For such a busy area, the room was nice and quiet and I got really good rest. No complaints!

Not much positive to say about this place except for the convenient location on King Street. I booked and paid for 2 rooms on booking.com. Upon arrival, the desk attendant asked for a card to hold for incidentals. Ended up getting charged for a 3rd room that I didn’t even book or use. Called the hotel multiple times with nobody willing to help. Each time I called, the story was different. First, I was told this was a common issue where the desk attendant did not notice I booked through a third party and thus charged me again on site. The hotel employee offered to look into the issue and call me back but never did. The second time, the story was that the accounting team only had a payment for two rooms on file, which was clearly false based on my credit card statements, which showed charges for 3 rooms. The third time, the story was that booking.com and other third parties were not authorized to charge me for the rooms and that payment was to be made directly with the hotel. I was told I would have to dispute the issue through booking.com. I asked for the hotel manager multiple times and was denied. On top of it all, the rooms were not great (dark and dated). The rugs had stains and overall, the room felt dirty.

Location. Ali in housekeeping was so kind and helpful when our room was not ready Almost 500 dollars for an 18 hour stay plus 48 dollars to park . If there was a discount to park while staying at hotel we were not informed. We did not move our car until departure. No water pressure in sink rm770

The space was very nice and the rooms were very well maintained. Turn down service was kind of all over the place.. not a constant time, not sure if it's short staffing or why that is. Some days it was 1pmish and others were 6pm. Breakfast was good every morning except when they put the turkey bacon out. It was over cooked and I over heard a few people say they could eat breakfast cause it made them nauseous. But all the other food was amazing. Rooftop bar was an amazing experience, so many restaurants within walking distance and shopping stores everywhere.

We stayed four nights over New Year’s Eve with our family and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the location in the Historic District is super convenient for walking to restaurants and attractions. The kids enjoyed the pool, though the water was a bit cold. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

The location was terrific, right on King Street with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The DryBar right out front was lucky! We arrived very late (around 2 am) after driving for 12 hours. I had messaged the hotel ahead of time to let them know that we were definitely coming, but would not arrive until after 1 am. When we got there, the two people at the front desk stopped me from speaking and said "we're in the middle of an audit so you're going to have to wait- and it's so late, we have you as a no show". At any time of day, I would not have loved this- but at 2 am for a room I already paid for, it was stressful. Also, when we returned to our room at 7 pm the next day after being out all day, we found that housekeeping didn't tend to our room. When we called the front desk, they were not apologetic or kind, just said they'd take care of it. Overall, staff attitude wasn't worth the great location.
- 5/5
Excellent service, the front desk girl that checked me in was very kind, I went at night to ask for info, they provided me with all information I needed in a very nice way, the housekeeping supervisor Ellie Green was amazing, I forgot some things at the hotel and she was quick and very professional, the valet young kids are very nice as well and the rooftop bar is very good! I definitely recommend this hotel. The TV does not have many options to connect to apps

The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We had a wonderful stay. The front desk fulfilled all our requests for additional towels, pillows, and housekeeping. The only problem was the breakfast buffet. All the food tasted frozen and artificial omelettes. We were very disappointed with the food choices. But if you’re looking for a reasonably priced hotel with an excellent location, then this is perfect.

The room was as expected, very nice, newly furnished and spacious. I had to call down for a hair dryer and linens for the pull out sofa but they came quickly. Valet parking is on point! Dont hesitate to use that, its worth the extra. This visit would have been perfect except for an exceptionally rude man on the front desk. Sheez, hospitality is not for everyone.

They upgraded us to a suite which was nice but we were only there for one night. I did like the noon check out time but i did not like paying $47 to park in the parking garage or $49 for valet. The room was already over $400. The thermostat may have been broken but we told the front desk at check out. It was nice to be within walking distance!!

I thought this place was amazing! I love that King St is extremely walkable luxury shopping, many famous sights to see, great restaurants and places to have drinks! On top of all that (pun intended) the rooftop beer tasting is something to see and try! The pool area was warm but the water was freezing. The room was spacious, the shower was huge with great pressure and very hot water. We checked out the same day new renovations began. I would be excited to return and see how it changes.

Came to Charleston for my son to do a College Tour and stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel room was nice and clean. Breakfast was Okay, ( could have had more variety for what you pay). The Turkey sausage was like rubber and the turkey bacon was over cooked that it just crumbled into pieces. They do have a waffle station to make your own ( so if you like waffles, you’re good). The Hotel itself doesn’t have Parking, but has either Valet parking $49/day or the Public Parking Garage which is next door and charges you each time you come and go. Overall, the location is great for being on King Street with Restaurants and shopping within walking distance.

My family and I had such a poor experience at the Hyatt hotel in Charleston. It started when we tried to check in. They had poor customer service on the phone. Initially, the lady had hung up on us. The second time we called back, they gave us attitude and told us to call back around 1300. The third time we called back, she was extremely short, stating that the reason we couldn’t see that we were already checked in was because we used Expedia. I asked about obtaining an itemized receipt, she advised me to simply take a screenshot of the charges that were sent to my phone. I was questioning why I was being overcharged, and there was confusion because there was a pre-charge early in May. A lot of the charge issues could’ve been handled had I gotten an itemized receipt copy, but she would not provide me with one. When I left, I realized I did not get room cards. She said that she did give them to me, but I must’ve lost them. I never found them throughout the trip, because she did not give them to me. At the end of the trip was another terrible experience with Geoffrey. We were trying to check out around 4 a.m. in order to make our travel home. And we did not get a check-out email. Upon approaching him, he was immediately disgruntled. We said that we were here to check out, and he told us that he was busy doing audits. I then had to ask him how long the audits would take. He responded, I don’t know, maybe about 20 minutes. This is unacceptable, especially with flights.

I thought it was very average. Breakfast was awful. The tv in room is ancient. There was a little mold on bedroom wall. Housekeeping was good. Hotel was convenient to shops and restaurants.

The Hyatt was a nice hotel, convenient to King Street. The breakfast is great, with many options to choose from. The parking isn’t ideal there, but it was an overall good experience.

Very comfortable, clean stay. Nice to have a full kitchen. Staff was friendly and several always interacted with us often, very helpful too. Bus stop for the free trolley was across the street. One thing we did not enjoy was the turkey bacon/sausage offered at breakfast. The brand was not good. That is the only complaint we have.

It was a hotel. Nothing super nice. The room was clean but felt dark. Good enough for being in downtown Charleston. The breakfast was the norm. It had eggs, meat, fruit, yogurt, breads, coffee, juice….We would stay there again. The check in staff were really friendly. The process was easy.

Room 1 was on a higher floor and supposedly nicer, quite the contrary. The room was quite small, the fridge had the last tenants food still in the fridge, air condition didn’t turn when temperatures, not clean, the floor looked like it was recently buffed but upon wiping something spilled there was black grease (?), every piece of furniture had scuffs and scratches and the walls had scuff marks that weren’t cleaned or painted. Room 2, 2nd floor was 2x larger, clean, floor wasn’t greasy, air conditioning didn’t work for hours then around 2am after sweating for a few hours it seems to have turned on. Property itself needs updating, overall cleaning, paint on a lot of scuff marks. Staff was great and accommodating, the place is in a good location but needs attention throughout.

We used a car service transportation service from and to Charleston Airport. Uber to & from Plantation. Walked around most of the Historic District from the Hotel, a 30 minute walk to almost any where in historic district. Many casual & nice dining restaurants nearby. Only concern is we were charged a Daily Valet Service for 2 days for never having a car. Disheartening for a great trip & location until we were at airport reviewing our invoice. Called front desk and issue was supposedly resolved, only to realize 2 weeks later they recharged me for the valet parking.

This hotel was backed up with housekeeping and we couldn’t get checked into our room for a full hour after promised so my family had to stay in lobby and wait. Also, there was loud guests intoxicated fighting in the hallway in the middle of the night. We did not sleep well.

Why was my credit card charged $150 on the day of checkin? Why won’t anyone answer me?

great location

Floor in the kitchen is plastic and not fastened to the concrete. Valet parking mentioned but not garage next door. There is dining for the 20-30 yearolds, but nothing for mature adults.

Room was not maintained at all!! Bulbs burnt out, window shades in really poor condition. Given one small bar of soap for 3 day stay! Bathroom door could not be closed and door to room was hard to lock. Very bad experience; would never recommend or go back.
- 5/5
Close to College of Charleston and MANY restaurants and shopping choices.
- 2/5
Forced charge of $50/night for possible "incidentals" to be subtracted from fee; charge was immediate and without a receipt; refund is delayed 7-10 days after departure from venue and from travel area; and without knowing if "incidentals" were levied. Room's entrance door did not easily latch/lock upon closure; door needed to be forcefully pulled closed for lock to engage. Condition of room, especially bathroom, was poor: broken bathroom walls and long-time accumulation of dirt on bathroom baseboards. Electric outlets on bedside lamps wouldn't hold plugs for recharging devices. The very few TV channels provided offered nothing decent to watch - no movies and not even a news station.

Great location but toilet was dirty and staff were less than friendly.

Bed and pillows are extremely uncomfortable

Hostess at the front desk was exceptionally nice informing me of some perks which I truly appreciate saving me about $100 in fees, guest services were polite and maintained the cleanliness of our room exceptional, thank you to the staff and we will be returning to this hotel upon our next time around.

2nd time staying at this property. Great location.
- 3/5
Check in was late for us as while as lots of others. The Libby was full of people waiting to check in well after 4:00.
- 3/5
Room was average. Bed was comfortable but the room itself needs a desperate refresh. Valet is owned by a different company and took 1/2 hour to find someone to take our car upon arrival. Known to have the “best rooftop bar” but it was closed for some reason.

Room was somewhat dirty floor was sticky and bathroom door was not working properly, also shower needs a make over.

Property needs some updating. Construction close by was noisy and started about 7am. Was on the edge of the historic district and somewhat walkable. Beware of public parking garage and their rates.

Staff was great! Rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. It is also in a great location.

On day 5 we went to use silverware and there was still food on the knife from someone else. Parking was extremely expensive, $48 a day. The front desk told us if we had a handicap number we could park free. Having this saved us over $500 in parking. Thank you for letting us know this.

The suite had plenty of room

Convenience to King Street, spacious room, friendly staff

Southern Hospitality was at full display. Room was clean and had everything we needed (utensils, dish soap etc). Only issue with this location (and not the fault of the hotel) is that there is no free parking. The parking garage is owned by the city and the rate is ($1 for 20 minutes), and $24 for overnight. Hotel does offer Valet, which was ~$50 (with in-and-out priviliges).
- 5/5
Very close to everything

Best location for going out and around King St! I have stayed multiple times and it is always great! The staff are friendly and helpful! Everything is clean.

Great location! Dtaff helpful

Great location, large hotel room with kitchenette, great outdoor space with fire pit.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at the property. It is very clean and comfortable atmosphere. The only downside is the expensive parking, and it was very hard to find parking at night in the parking deck because it’s shared with the public by the other businesses surrounding it. In my opinion parking should either be free for hotel guests or a set price for your stay to pay up front.
- 5/5
It was cool

The staff even put the wrong room number on our card and we had to return to the reception with all our luggage.,no apologies,no help and no compassion...There were 3 female staff in attendance and they all had the same attitude. It's a real pity because besides that it's a nice enough hotel with a beautiful indoor pool in a great location.

We had fun.

The room was immaculate—spacious, beautifully designed, and equipped with all the modern amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was exceptionally cozy, ensuring a restful night’s sleep, and the views of Charleston were simply stunning. Housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping everything pristine throughout our stay. The hotel’s location is another major plus. It’s perfectly situated near historic sites, fantastic restaurants, and charming shops, making it easy to explore everything Charleston has to offer. One of the highlights of my stay was the on-site dining. Overall, our experience at the Hyatt Hotel Charleston exceeded expectations in every way. The combination of luxury, comfort, and top-tier service made my visit truly special. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Charleston—We can’t wait to return!
