Upon arrival everything looked ok and our room looked nice. We had been in the heat all day and just looking forward to getting showers and resting. Shower gel was completely empty, but front desk sent more quickly. Found several pubic hairs in the shower and hotel never acknowledged by message about that. TV was not a smart one and we were unable to screencast our phones so had to watch shows on our phones. Looking forward to sleeping in to be woken by very loud, repetitive noises beginning at 6 AM and continuing for more than 2 hours. Breakfast was not included. Very frustrating and disappointing stay. Would not recommend or return.

There isn't enough to justify complaining, but there also isn't enough to justify praise, hence the OKAY rating. Cost was too high for what was being offered, 10 years ago this would have been a $100 hotel stay, not $250, so the price went up but it's still a $100 hotel stay, take what you will from that.
- 2/5
The parking is on the lot outside and back of the hotel. No breakfast except for pay at the restaurant. Just go get you a decent brunch in the city
- 4/5
The room was clean upon entering but the room was never serviced
- 2/5
The room was very nice but impractical. No towel racks in the bathroom except one. Could not hang clothes over shower because it went to the ceiling. Not very practical at all. Breakfast staff was very nice. Very disappointing 2 night stay at this hotel considering it was a Doubletree by Hilton.
- 2/5
Hotel was not the cleanest, plus had too many dogs. Could only imagine that we were sleeping in a bed that had a dog sleeping in it previously as many owners allow dogs to sleep with them. Last, the shower water was ice cold. We told staff and nothing was done about it. Doubletree’s brand and standards have really plummeted over the years. Will never stay at a Doubletree again!

Morning breakfast was nice, biscuits were great. Unfortunately, they only had one person working to fill coffee, bring out extra food and cash people out. The poor woman working the breakfast was constantly busy and found it difficult to refill coffee or get us a check. The site did have a vehicle to take you into town and the driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but I just expected more from a DoubleTree hotel.

Book through Expedia and when I arrived I found out that someone with a similar last name was given my room. So after about an hour at the front desk trying to figure out what happened with the attendant, and playing phone tag with Expedia they finally were able to give me a room but not the same type of room that I paid for. Mind you I arrived at 2am after a 10 hour drive. Then I requested a refund and they would not honor that either. The bed was plenty comfortable but the water pressure was low and the drains were slow to drain. Also housekeeping started knocking on my door at 8:30 in the morning and knocked on my door two more times before 11:00. I think they forgot to check out is at 11:00. Definitely the worst experience I've had at a DoubleTree by hilton. I would stay in the back of my car before I would stay at this hotel again

The buffet was not good. I arrived to the restaurant around 8:45 & told there was a buffet because the hotel was @ capacity & to help myself. The eggs were almost gone & I had to scape the bottom of the pan. Some items weren't available & I had to ask for napkins & silverware. If I had known before hand I could have made other plans. It was not worth $15.

Staff was wonderful, nice amenities such as a shuttle! Very disappointed with the fact there wasn’t complimentary coffee in the morning and to charge 3.00 for it!!!! It’s not that good

Everthing was clean and well-kept, and we especially appreciated the layout of the king-bed room with the couch under the window.

Delightful, comfortable, cleverly designed room. Will be back!
- 3/5
The room was clean but the person who checked us in acted like it was an inconvenience. The room was not very well stocked so we had to go down and ask for more then they had to find the coffee. I grabbed cups from down stairs. The shower had 3 strands of water coming out, I had to forcibly adjust it to get a shower. It was not a bad stay but the Double Tree I had stayed in just a couple of days earlier in a different state was cheaper more friendly and the room was well stocked and clean. It was hard to believe both of these are supposed to be the same.

Maybe it was just room 235. Safe is broken… I know how to use. Refrigerator we had fixed which they did. I wish the owner of the property would stay and shower in room 235. Starts out alright till the water becomes abruptly scalding. Generally needs major adjustments every minute. Now what really pissed us off was we arrived late Saturday and ate the Sunday buffet. Could have been better but was fine. The property owner decided to have1 staff present to keep up with all the food and drinks. Good luck with that. The cheap property owner now only offers menu items M-F. Great, except there is 1 waiter for 30+ puzzled people. I waited over an hour along with numerous other guest. What are they thinking? The waitress tried. Typical skeleton crew to make extra money. I’ve stayed at other Double Trees that performed much better. Oh, almost forgot, 2 bartenders for about 12 guest at night. Get rid of a bartender and hire some morning staff!! Don’t get me wrong, Nice people-decent property. Poor staffing decisions. If I was the owner I would be fixing some basic yet obvious issues.

I called the hotel months in advance and multiple times to inquire about early check in, because I was traveling for a bachelorette and we needed to surprise the bride with a decorated room. I was told to call back the morning of our reservation and then was told it was not promised. Upon arrival, we were not able to check in early and killed time until normal check in and were not even able to check in at 3:00pm for their normal check in, waiting until 5:00 after pushing several times insisting on being given a room. The staff was highly disorganized and majority unhelpful. I’ve never stayed at a Hilton like this, not providing water or cookies like a typical Hilton. Not offering any information on the hotel amenities or area. We waited so long to check in for the room to be cleaned and when I went to shower, the soap was completely empty in both of our rooms that I booked. I would never return to this hotel or recommend it.

I never tried the breakfast. Highly suggest.

During check in despite telling the clerk these were the terms of the booking, she repeatedly said we needed to pay for parking. I told the clerk this was our 4 th staff at this hotel this month and we have never paid for parking. Other than this, the hotel, location were good.

Some staff are approachable and welcoming and others not. I came in friday night to check in and i was standing at the front desk for like 10 mins and looking around for the staff.. no one was there but this lady was sitting close to the minibar section and looked at me… 10 mins passed by and that same lady stood and walked up to me.. she was THE staff but not sure why she didnt say anything that she would be helping me pretty soon… maybe she was on break or busy??? But at least acknowledge me that someone will be helping me in a few minutes and not just ignore my presence. Anyways, it was really weird.

The entrance smelled like we were in a dog kennel. It smelled like dogs in the room as well. 2 rooms down from us, a guest left their dog alone in their room. The dog was barking for over an hour. IU called down to the front desk and was told that they can't do anything since they are a " pet friendly' place. I asked her if they were also a " human friendly" place and she hung up on me. Instead of addressing the noise, we had to pack our belongings to move to a different room. We then met with Noah Bell, manager of this location the next morning. He apologized and promised us 50,000 Hilton Honor points. He only gave us 20,000 pts. I have left him 3 messages and 2 emails. None have been answered.

The room door wouldn't latch completely by itself, and you had to fight and lift it to latch for the key card lock to activate also. The room itself was ok and clean. The bathroom door wouldn't close correctly, and would slide past the stopping point and leave a big gap. The shower water would leak out onto the floor every time, but we had extra towels to handle it. The smell in the room would sometimes get really bad and seemed to be coming from the plumbing, but this seemed to be an issue around the city and not just the building though. The front desk staff was nice, but it appeared other staff were afraid to talk or answer questions. The breakfast was not free, but the staff didn't approach you to ask you for your room number, and didn't explain how you were supposed to pay for it. Even with the inconveniences, it wasnt a bad place and it was a good location for seeing things around town.

The location is great to get downtown or James Island/ Folly Beach but it is deceptive on that it says Doubletree Riverview. Yes the river is there but there is no view of it. It’s better to stay at Springhill Suites nearby as that seems to have a true river view. The lobby smelled like they used a toxic chemical solvent to clean the floors. As if to mask an odor like wet dog. It was terrible! There is one coffee dispenser, just one type of basic coffee, no decaf or hot water or tea in the lobby. The hallways are scuffed up and not very clean. The rooms are ok.

Staff was not the friendliest, but not completely rude. When I arrived it was not busy, I was just asked for my name and ID. I was then given my room key but had to ask what room I was in and how to get to it. Oh, i was asked for my license plate number but never directed to where i could and couldn't park. Not very personable or interested in the guest. Nice hotel but was lacking the staff to match. Felt like they use to be TSA employees. I had some minor issues with the room like the the sink was slow draining, given the short time I stayed i didnt ask about getting it fixed, but if they cleaned the sink and let the water run for 10 seconds it should have been noticed before releasing the room.

The room was very spacious and extremely comfortable. The location was close to everywhere we wanted to visit. The bar was quite nice. A single, small waste-basket for a large, spacious suite was disappointing. The check-in process could have been better, especially in the area of communication and attentiveness. We had to call each night to the front desk to replenish towels, coffee, toiletries, etc.

Pet friendly for our dog. Everything was great including the food… I would suggest some paper towels or a dish towel by the sink. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable stay!

I was not impressed. I probably won’t be staying at the PLACE again. The toilet was dirty. The room felt humid, and he has a urine smell. Breakfast was supposed to be served at six. I have to leave at 6:30 because there was nobody for breakfast. The shower VAL was very hard to you. Almost like it was broken. Oh and the door wouldn’t shot, right

The Black lady that checked us in wasn’t nasty but she wasn’t polite either. The bartender was so wonderful. Beautiful well spoken and cordial Black lady. She needs to check guests in and be the face of the hotel. Her presence was absolutely beautiful and so inviting. She was the only staff member that made us feel welcomed. The room was okay I guess. It had a musty smell, stains on the bedding, and hairs in the shower. We dealt with it as the lady that checked us in wasn’t that nice so we didn’t want confrontation with her. Common areas were well organized and clean. Although the bartender was so amazing I won’t book with them again.

Great location and proximity to everything. Tucked away from major traffic. After checking in, we get to our room to find that it’s not the master suite I’d booked for us many weeks prior. A sizable stain on the futon and hair in the bathroom and on the towels. My wife and I immediately went back to the desk to inform the attendant that we were given an incorrect and unclean room. To which we were told, “there isn’t a master suite available at this time but I can put you in another room and maybe there’ll be a master suite to open up tomorrow.” That particular attendant, I do not know her name, wasn’t very kind or personable and made us feel like an inconvenience. Which was kind of mind blowing considering the issue was the hotel’s fault for double booking our room, not ours. That being said, the next morning we came down to the desk to see if our correct room was available before heading out for the day. I do not remember the gentleman’s name who was working at that time, but he was so incredibly professional, understanding, apologetic, and helpful. He assured us that when we returned to the hotel, later in the day, our correct room would be ready for us. The following day, when we checked out, the lady we’d originally dealt with at check in was working along with a manager. Her attitude was a night and day difference… imagine that. I described our inconvenience and the situation to the manager and she gladly understood, apologized, and took a substantial amount off of our bill. I respected her for that and appreciated her effort to make it right. All that said, I’ve had worse experiences and it wasn’t a horrible stay. However, I’m not sure we’ll stay there again.

Location is not convenient but tolerable going to the college Can’t register earlier than waw told to go back for the hour qns we just been driving for 12 hours

Good location but we were unaware it had converted to a Hilton and was no longer a Cambria. We had trouble finding it. A heads up would have been helpful.

The staff was excellent! My only complaint was the room. It seemed like it was neglected for a while. The room was dusty, the AC smelled moldy and the bathroom shower had black mold on the floor and wall. We did tell the front desk and they had maintenance look at it but the mold was still there. Great staff, bad room.

So, we thought we had booked a hotel with a continental breakfast, maybe not. Full breakfast possible. Well, a bit of a disappointment. Slow service for only 2 other tables in play while we were there. Wife's toast cold and the coffee urn was empty. Got our coffee but after a wait. Hotel room, bed amazing, bathroom amazing, room amazing. Unfortunately, it had the barn slider style door on the bathroom and it did not slide well on the rollers (341). Fix please. Pool looked amazing. Never had an opportunity to enjoy. California Dreaming restaurant 3 minute drive away. An OMG experience! You'll like it here.

Very disappointing.. the shuttle service wasnt working, the room had mold. No debit or credit care use at the bar and the ATM wasnt working. Staff was not very friendly or helpful. Our room was never cleaned, asked for more towels which never came. Overall, very disappointed and would not recommend.
- 4/5
Shower wasn’t not getting hot
- 3/5
It was not riverview or waterfront as advertised to be. Staff were not friendly and at times short upon requests. Had to wait to day three for maid service. The one time I tried to use the shuttle service, I was told he was going on break. Ice machine was broke on the floor we stayed on. Shower had very low pressure and took a while to be hot. The air conditioner was very noisy. On the positive side, beds were very comfortable and the room was clean.
- 3/5
Building was fine. Restaurant menu was limited but food wwas quite good and reasonably priced. Pool closed by the Charleston Dept of Health. No housekeeping service on second day. Says no smoking property but smokers on outdoor deck. Seemed like very low maintenance Wonder if for sale. Never stay there again. Di

Would not stay again. 2 days in a row had to call to get hot water turned on in mid afternoon while trying to get ready for events. Mornings it took 10 minutes of running to get hot water. Past reviews noted hot water issues for several years. Apparently they are aware and don’t care. Also bar was supposed to be open until 11 pm but the bartender was closing at 9:30 pm and said he didn’t know it was 11 and left anyway one night. Nice hotel but absolutely not worth the stress of the hot water issues. Same problem in a second room on a different floor we booked for family.
- 1/5
The room was clean was very disappointed. We didn't have hot water, the guy was sleeping on the couch when we tried to get snacks. We had to take the stairs because elevator was broke. Then to top it off, no breakfast in the morning because the cook didn't show up. For a $460 night stay, it sure didn't feel like I got my money's worth.
- 2/5
1st let me say the staff was helpful and the room was clean but from there downhill. The hotel air conditioning broke in the main lobby and wall unit in our room . The lobby AC was repaired but the wall unit in the room never restarted. Thank goodness the bedroom AC still worked. The water was shut off for 2 hours at the height of getting ready for dinner(5-7pm). Hotel staff forgot to post in the hotel regarding the water shutoff. Another day the hot water tank had an issue, needless to say could showers are not pleasant! All in all I would not stay at the Cambria Riverview Charleston again.
- 2/5
The hotel is very close to the French Quarter via very inexpensive Uber. Rooms are very nice and spacious. Have sofa and writing table. We attempted to shower and there was no hot water. So basic. The front staff seemed inadequate to solve the problem. We saw many guests leave. It was probably fixed after we checked out. So I would definitely stay there again.
- 3/5
The room was pretty decent. The bed was very comfortable but the shower took 30 minutes to head up some days then 2-5 nights we couldn’t get a warm shower at all. The first front desk lady we saw we waited awhile before anyone came to the front desk. When she did come to the desk she was not very friendly & she only asked for our last name then basically sent us on our way. The front desk people during the day were much friendlier.

The bed sheets were not changed; there was no soap in the shower (which customer will only notice when you are already taking a shower!); bathroom was not cleaned, hairs in the shower, grime on the floor; the equipment in their gym were dirty, has not been cleaned/wiped down at the very least.

New and very clean. Conveniently located to things we wanted to do.

We arrived late the evening we checked in. We were all tired from work and driving to our destination. We checked in and the lady checking us in didn’t have the best personality. I asked her was the front the best way to get to our room for we had to unload all of our luggage, etc. She replied that we could come in the front door or backdoor. Well, I didn’t know where the back door was but we drove around to the back. One would have thought to tell a customer that if they had luggage, etc that maybe the front was the best choice since it had a rolling cart and the back didn’t. Anyway, we finally figured out how to get in the back with no help to the girl and we headed to our room. We got in and my husband had to use the restroom so he went to the bathroom and lifted the seat. He come out of bathroom and asked me how much I spent on the room and I told him. He said, it was not worth it if they aren’t going to do their jobs and called me to come to the bathroom to look. I looked and under the toilet, it was disgusting. We called down to the front desk and she said she could move us. We took our keys back downstairs and showed her the picture we took and she just looked at it and shrugged her shoulders like she could care less - no apology or nothing. There was also no continental breakfast of any sort either. Just a few things they need to work on for the price that they charge here. Hopefully they can get them resolved. Other than that, our stay was overall good.
- 4/5
Nice, spacious room for three adults-private bedroom and sofa bed. Not pristine but acceptable as far as cleanliness-bring shower shoes. front desk staff was polite and welcoming. Most importantly, it was quiet. We didn’t hear other guests coming and going while trying to sleep.
- 1/5
Not good.
- 3/5
The hotel could use a little maintenance. The door wouldn’t close correctly. The mirror in the bathroom is your source of light for the vanity. It did not work at all. No shampoo or body wash. I did have three bottles of conditioner though.
- 5/5
Love how close the hotel was to king street and all the major Charleston locations! Everything was so clean and we enjoyed it a lot! Definitely coming back!
- 4/5
Pool was small but adequate for quick dips. There was a fitness room but I didn’t use it. Check in and out was a breeze. Shout out to Sam at the guest desk as well, real nice to deal with. Decent stay but would overall rate 3.5 to 4
- 5/5
Great rooms, great staff, clean and great location to get to downtown.
- 3/5
Room was really nice! However there was no hot water in the shower. I told the front desk and there was barely a response… just said “oh,really?” And then nothing. I had noticed previous reviews re no hot water but thought they may have fixed it before our stay, but no.Too bad because it’s a nice hotel, location, etc. The breakfast was great and the young ladies who were working in the breakfast area were so nice.
- 2/5
Bathroom situation was also a mess. Traveled as a couple and only got 2 bath towels, 1 wash cloth and 2 hand towels. They dont turn rooms over with out asking but every 3 days. Outdoor pool seemed nice but it 2 was lacking in general maintenance. Needs a hard cleaning sand in bottom and algae growing around water line and water was cloudy. All in all i dont think i could stay at this property again. 2.5 out of 5 stars. Just needs a ton of work
- 4/5
Need to update their room cleaning policy, almost every place I stay is back to daily or every other day room cleaning. I was here three nights and not one refresh, had to take my own garbage out.

The location of the hotel can't be beat. Just a few minutes to historic downtown or the beach. Staff was great. What was not great was the fact they mischarged my credit card despite giving me an itemized receipt upon departure. I am presently disputing more than $500 in charges.
- 4/5
My boyfriend and i enjoyed our stay at the cambria! We loved our room, the pool, the gym and the distance to downtown. Our only complaint was that the room did not get cleaned daily( we didnt ask) and the room did not get that cold with AC/ the shower took forever to heat up; but we enjoyed our stay that we def would stay here again
- 1/5
Unfortunately this property has gone downhill. We have stayed here several times in the past and no issues. But this trip they ran out of hot water, had a broken ice machine, broken key fob into the gym. I would not recommend this hotel anymore.

Newer property with clean, comfortable room and bed. No river view, but practical location. Quiet and plentiful parking.
- 5/5
Great place to stay, its close but not too close to Downtown Charleston. Great atmosphere. Bar & dining area had good food & drinks
- 3/5
Nice room arrangement. However, the advertised riverview was rather limited. Also, no one told us that we had to request room service if we wanted it more often than every third day. For those reasons we would probably not come back.
- 5/5
This was a good stay. Bathroom was clean and room was clean. We stayed at 3 Marriott’s and chose Cambria for our last stay. All hotels had low water pressure. That was the biggest downside to this hotel. Other than that it was nice and only 5 min from downtown.
- 1/5
The worst experience yet. The lock fell off the door and the customer service lady said and! That happens. No dresser for clothes. Had to use ironing board. Holes tears everywhere n mold in bathroom
- 5/5
Not much around property however a good location to downtown, Folly Beach and airport.
- 4/5
Great trip, we only stayed 1 day however the place was extremely clean, looked to be a cozy place to visit again.
- 5/5
It's as advertised. Room was the same as photo. Its clean and unique layout makes it stand out.
- 5/5
It was very swanky! Loved it
- 3/5
Rented the suite for 5 days. First night - went to use the shower and the shower knob fell to the ground. Did not want room cleaned but did go downstairs to get a few towels and toilet paper and they could not give me any because maid service was done for the day. One day the elevator stopped working and we were on 4th floor. My mother in law got her own room and they checked her out and gave her room to other person - even though she was booked for 5 days. Eventually Got squared away. Few other issues like the gas fire pits didn’t work and they did nothing to fix it.
- 5/5
Great value for the room size. Quiet location and close to everything.
- 4/5
The hot water seemed to have an issue. It took about 30 min to get warm enough to get in. Also, it’s pretty close to the highway. If you are a light sleeper it’s an issue. Bring your noise machine.
- 4/5
I liked that the property was a quick 10-13 minute drive from all the downtown Charleston areas. The lobby was nice and it was convenient that it had a snack bar. The room was comfortable and spacious enough but the sheets/pillows were very comfortable to me. Bathroom door was a barn door that didn’t lock which was inconvenient with our toddler because he kept wanting to open the door or play with it while someone was trying to use the bathroom. Guests were noisy even though I noticed a sign in the hallway that said quiet hours were starting at 10pm. We heard loud talking/laughing in the hallways at 11pm one night and then at 4:30 am a different night. Front desk was very helpful and kind. My 5 year old son was very excited about using the pool however it was freezing cold and felt like ice water (completely shaded by the building) so none of us could actually get in the water to enjoy it.

The hotel was just over the causeway so a very quick taxi ride to Charleston. The room was large and clean. Anti-fog Mirror in bathroom has blue tooth so you can play music while you get ready and the beds were super comfortable. Staff was lovely.
- 5/5
It was perfect!!
- 5/5
comfortable room although the pillows were not comfortable. I am used to foam pillows so the hotel pillows were hard. Staff was friendly and helpful with any questions we had.
- 3/5
My stay wasn’t bad at all but could have been better. The mirror light in the my bathroom would not turn on making it hard to get ready with hair and makeup before heading to our event. The room itself was clean and the space was nice
- 4/5
Nice place, but need to drive to eating places
- 5/5
The check in with pleasant staff Kiki was seamless. Room and bathroom clean and pleasant. Will stay again and would recommend to friends and family.

We had a wonderful stay at Cambria! The room was spacious and well-appointed, and the bed was incredibly comfortable—perfect after a long day of exploring. The location is also ideal, with easy access to the city’s main attractions. Overall, a great experience and we'd happily stay again.
- 5/5
Great place to stay, affordable prices compared to downtown Charleston.

It wasn't as clean as I would have liked, but the staff were nice and tried their best to accommodate. The building is just a little older and starting to show.

Cons: Bar food was ok. Toppings on chicken sandwich were not fresh. Foul smell one night due to hotel on river bed.
- 5/5
Easy location to get to different parts of area to explore. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
We struggled getting hot water for our showers. We also had lights that didn’t work making our room fairly dark.
- 4/5
Overall I was very satisfied with the hotel. The property is very nice (fairly new & well appointed), and located in convenient location, but slightly off the beaten path. Rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel smelled good and had a nice Lobby Bar and restaurant. My only complaint is that I called 3 days in advance to request a quiet room away from streets, elevators and ice machines. I reiterated my request upon checking in but somehow I was still placed in a room facing the street and I could hear traffic although not terrible. When a guest goes through this much trouble to request a quiet room, I think at the very least they should be told that their request can't be accommodated, instead of the front desk person basically ignoring them and placing them wherever they have room. The hotel didn't seem that busy, but I would have understand if someone told me that it was full and they couldn't accommodate my request. We stayed on a Sunday and Monday night in the hotel didn't seem that busy. The only other complaint was that housekeeping left us to coffee k-pods. One decaf and one regular and no stir sticks. We were there for two nights. Seems like two regular and two decaf might have been more appropriate. Things like this just make me wonder how much quality control there is or how much training staff receive. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.
