Dolphin Key Resort

The place is beautiful and very convenient to where we needed to go. The live music was very good at the Tiki bar on the property, and it was nice that the music done by 10pm. The owner was very friendly and sweet. The filtered water machine in the lobby was much appreciated. The room was clean and nice. The pool was nice and we used it a lot.

Tammy at the front desk was wonderful. Our towels were exchanged daily. The bed was very comfortable. The pool was so nice. The tile floors were sticky, but I can’t say if that’s from salt air or not well rinsed after cleaning.

The location was excellent within walking distance to restaurants, CVS/Walgreens, Dollar Store, great coffee shoppes, super Saturday famers market and banks (ATM). We had a poolside room that was awesome - comfortable bed, hot shower, plenty of towels. The pool was a step away and very relaxing and warm with plenty of sitting space. Many of the guests we chatted with were returnees which says a lot about the greatness of the resort! There is a tiki bar that also serves incredible food - must have is the AM breakfast with 2 drinks included!! There is also nightly music while we were there with Karoke night being so popular! The staff at the resort is warm, attentive and very pleasant to chat with. If you use a rental car be sure to have your I-PASS app with you if applicable to Florida as it saves on toll money. There is at least one from the airport to Cape Coral. We had a great time there and definitely will book another stay at this resort.

We agreed it was great for the price point and would return. We enjoyed the pool, bar and drinks and my fiancé also had breakfast one morning which he said was good. If you are visiting Cape Coral, the area can’t be beat for other restaurants and shopping. It is also convenient to Fort Myers Beach.

Easy to load/unload from vehicle to room since parking is adjacent to rooms. Pool was great as was the live band at the on-site huge Tiki bar! Always a great experience at Dolphin Key resort!

I’m not sure how this can be called a resort in any way. It’s an old motel, updated, and the only positive amenity is a decent locals bar on the property (although there’s plenty of bars nearby). The room was fair sized but with little storage for clothing. Four pigeon holes attached to the wall and a small rack with four hangers. The bathroom is small, plumbing dated, towels are dollar store quality. Staff was civil, not really pleasant, and wasn’t around much. We just went into the closet behind the desk and got our own pool towels. The pool was basically the same as any other motel pool, nothing fancy or resort-like. Housekeeping was effectively non-existent. It consisted of dropping off around the same number of towels we used, a roll of toilet paper, emptying the tiny trash cans, and leaving a tip envelope. We made our own bed, put away the towels, and wiped the floor with wet, used towels. Expedia states there’s a gym; there is not. I was told somebody “took all the stuff out,” bet there is a room. We received a knock on the door one morning to ask us to move our rental vehicle because they were resurfacing the parking lot in front of our door. Our vehicle was already blocked in by cones and string and our room reeked of asphalt for two days. It seems like this probably wasn’t an impulse project and we could’ve been placed on the second floor and/or had some warningi looked at ot other reviews and found they’ve all been downgraded recently.

I love the cost, the tiki bar, the location to everything. Only thing missing is a microwave to reheat left overs.

The tiki bar was a great place to eat and drink while sitting pool side and night life fun. Rooms are badic but clean and fresh. Staff is Outstanding.

At first glance, the Dolphin Key resort seemed Iike an old-time motel that had been updated a bit. Two floors of rooms on the perimeter, surrounding a nice pool area, with a tiki bar on the long side of the pool. There was a slight odd, but not bad, odor in the room, and I wondered what we were getting into. But, once we unpacked and settled in, we found the shower was great, the bed was comfortable, and everything we needed was there...lots of nice touches, plenty of towels, extra toilet paper, 2 wastebasket, maps and reading material, blackout curtains, cube storage shelves, you name it. Our only complaint was the mini-fridge was kind of loud,but once we unplugged it, it was great! We enjoyed the delicious food and drinks at the tiki bar the next day. The lady checking us in was friendly and helpful. We would 100% stay there again!

When I first arrived, they left a key in a box for me to obtain because the lobby closes at 5pm. I arrived to my room and there was a terrible smell, the bathroom shower had mold on the shower device and the pillows were stained with saliva (yellow circles on them). I called management. They stated "they have a cleaner room for me" and "they must of overlooked this room" The next room was cleaner however the beds are old and you sink in the middle of them and the property room cleanliness is just adequate. On a better note the staff is kind and the food and drinks at the bar were pretty good. I would only stay here if I was desperate.

Although the property was older, room clean, bed comfortable, towels and toiletries were good. The staff were very friendly and helpful with local attractions, uber, recommendations for local eats and anything else. The Tiki Hit was a great addition for lost cost meals and live music. Towels are provided for the pool. :)

Love this place

No soda or vending machines. All beverages purchased at the Tiki Hut Lounge, other than tap water, which tasted like chlorine. No ice machines, however, the room refrigerator was cold enough to freeze water, so we made our own ice in the fridge (freezer was small). Entrance to the room, from the hall was elevated so potentially could be a tripping hazard. A bit of a learning curve on the shower apparatus, but eventually solved the puzzle.

Great Stay!

Room was old and dirty. Dirty towels left in the bathroom when we checked in. No staff at the front desk most of the time. No toilet paper when we checked in. No daily maid service. Could not even get fresh towels for the next day. Pool had old and rundown chairs. Tiki bar was always packed by the locals, couldn’t even get a drink if the band was playing.

Attached Tiki bar staff wonderful. Resort itself was clean, check in/out fast and easy. This is my 5th time staying here. Clean linens everyday unless you put the do not disturb sign out. Highly recommend

Only problem is that they tacked on an additional smoking fee of over $200 after we left. Neither me nor my husband have smoked a day in our lives. We attempted to reach out to the hotel for an explanation and they claimed the room "smelled smokey" and was "unusable" for two days after we checked out even though we again don't smoke and left the hotel in good condition. After some more back and forth between us and the hotel they claim the charge will stay. Overall I would recommend to avoid this hotel if you want to avoid being hit with additional "fees" after leaving. Maybe go for the band, but not for the night.

Our room was clean and spacious, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Our flight home was cancelled and they extended our stay to help us out. This place is perfect if you don’t want to rent a car - pool area, tiki bar and restaurant, and a walkable area for coffee or other restaurants. The live music was spot on: a mix of genres to appeal to many ages and tastes. I ran the neighborhoods in the mornings and felt safe. It’s a busy place in the evening and was such a fun time!

Never seen the gym. Hotel room had very dirty floors. My feet were black and it was reported to staff and they indicated they would steam them and not mop them. Tiki bar is awesome! Bartenders are great especially redhead I believed named Ashley. Pool is really nice and relaxing. I have stayed three times and only have one negative feedback on flooring. We will continue to stay again.

The only thing this resort has giing for it is the tiki bar! Its really dated tiny beds and boring at the very least. The staff is indifferent to any request they wouldnt care if you wvr came back! Its in the middle of nowhere. Just a neighborhood! So disappointing!

The hospitality staff made our stay very enjoyable…the restaurant staff was par for the course. Parking…HORRIBLE, the hotel should automatically have a parking space not the bar patrons.

Pool and location. Music at night was loud past a certain time would suggest booking a room facing street if u decide to go back to room by 8:30/9. Office is not staffed early and also closes early so issues/needs being taken care of are dependent on call in to after hours number.

We had a really good time staying at this hotel. There is a pool, restaurant/bar, a couple bikes to borrow, however, if you are looking for the true Resort Vibe that you may be used to, this is not the right place to find it. It is a very casual situation which is fine, but our room, in four days was never cleaned (trash/new towels, etc.) until late in the day right before we left. No bedmaking, taking dirty/wet towels, etc. except when we put them outside and were picked up the at the same time. The room is very minimal; towels are thin but looked clean. We hope to stay here again and enjoyed ourselves but not exactly what we expected.

Decent location with lots of restaurants around. The floor could have been cleaner, but things worked out for the most part. The pub on site was convenient, but noisy and took up a lot of parking.

The TV did not work properly. I couldn't change channels and the remote was not functioning properly. We only had one coffee cup and there was no one on site to retrieve another one. The shower was very confusing and there were no instructions. The beds look like they were from World War ii. I would never stay there again do not recommend.

First, I stopped in to check in because I knew their office closed early and we had plans off the property. I was told that I could not check in because the room was not ready. I explained that I was not going into the room but we had plans & I was concerned we would not be back in time. She stood firm and stated someone would be there until 10:00pm. I arrived back after 7:00-7:30. At this point there was a gentleman there who was confused because he showed me checked in???? Also, there office closes at 8:00 not 10:00. Thank goodness were back in time The Maid service basically did not exist . After the 2nd day. We did get towels but nothing was touched. The lighting in the room is a joke. Two lights on the wall next to bed are horrible. Whenever you touched them, they would fall down. There was a desk lamp on the table not a lamp for actual light. The water pressure and temperature were hit or miss. There has never been a dresser but there were nightstands with 2 drawers to put some things in. Now it is just two tables no drawer space at all. Alot of rooms were rented to people in our group. Almost everyone felt the same way. They are obviously cutting corners in every area.

The bed was very cheap and noisy. The refrigerator very loud everytime the compressor came on. Since I was only staying one evening, I decided to just make it work and enjoy outdoors. In the morning I went to use the shower and had close to no water pressure. At this point, I wanted a shower and to checkout. I basically took a sponge bath and got out of there. I informed the manager on duty of my concerns on checkout and told her a discounted price would be appreciated. She got very rude with me, saying that I already got a great price with Expedia and she could not help me since I did not book direct. I expressed my unhappiness as well. Next, she told me that she would reach out to the owner and call me that afternoon. Of course, that never happened! I would not recommend this place to anyone. I also am surprised that Expedia has this place rated high. It was a miserable night of partial sleep in a dirty, dated hotel for a very high price.

Hair dryer needed to be replaced ... handle got hot, steam coming out, and burning smell. Room smelled musty. Bed was good. TV was tiny! Pool area -- chairs all claimed with towels by 9am. Room was spotless and very comfy. I think the rooms could use dehumidifiers as the floors were slippery and towels didnt dry. The room was ok. In the description it said newly renovated rooms. Not at all. Toilet was not tight to the floor. So it banged down every time you sat on it. Television is so small you need binoculars to see it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Pool is nice and clean.

Our first room smelt terribly of cigarette smoke so we switched and that room was supposedly cleaned. There was no top sheet on the bed and when we went to turn around to go out the first time there was a dead gecko stuck on the wall by the door. There is no way the staff could not have seen that. Then another night there was a large dead rat or something in the walkway on the bottom floor coming back from the tiki Hut. Now the tiki Hut had great service. Really good food. They got a little loud when we wanted to go to bed. Our room was facing them but that can't be helped but the cleaning staff there are terrible. The front desk person was very understanding and very helpful and also the second night in the new room. The couple next to us got in a huge fight in the middle of the night. She must have locked him out and he sat there and kicked and kicked and kicked the door trying to get in and calling her every foul name and word. You can imagine this went on for 10-15 minutes and then finally quieted down. As far as I know, there's no one there. The only front desk person is from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. there was no literature in the room giving us any phone numbers or telling us what to do either. I wanted to call the cops but my husband said no

We loved this resort! Tammy, the front desk manager, was amazing. The rooms were clean and spacious.

It is also truly a locals bar so the bar tenders were attentive to their regular customers making us wait quite a long time to be served. We liked the live music but stood in the pool area to hear them to avoid the smoking stench. The experience was disappointing because we booked Dolphin Key because they had the tiki area with live music. If you don’t mind a place filled with heavy smokers this is for you.

Bar and Grill was their best feature. A bit rowdy but if that's the vibe you're looking for, it's a fun place to stay. Rooms are fine, it's a motel. However, husband found it too humid

The highlight of my stat was definitely the lady at check-in—super sweet and friendly. The room itself was a bit of a letdown; it had a weird smell, not very fresh, but it was clean enough and did the job since I was only there for one night. I wish I had known there was going to be a band playing, though. At first, I was happy that my room faced the pool area, but that just meant I had to listen to music until almost 10:30 at night. It kind of ruined the relaxing vibe I was hoping for, like reading and chilling out. Also, the pictures online made the place look nicer than it actually was, which was a bit disappointing.

The room was nice, clean, bed comfortable. It had a mini fridge but no microwave. Good hot water supply. Facility is a motel with a patio and pool, beside the Tiki Bar. Ice machine out of service, but ice was available at the Tiki Bar. The Tiki Bar had very loud music playing in the evening. They turned down the volume or shut if off at 10 pm. The Tiki Bar brings in a lot of outside patrons and my wife said, "I'm not swimming in the pool with all those folks in the tiki bar watching me."

This is our second time at Dolphin Key Resort, it is easy to get to, the staff is helpful and friendly and reasonably priced. There are tons of places to eat around the resort, they even have entertainment and food at the Tiki Bar which is right on the property. The pool is always clean and not very busy and they provide you with pool towels. It would be nice if they had a small microwave in the rooms. Our shower was pretty hot this time.

We have stayed here a few times and they never disappoint.

The staff was great and accommodating. The motel could use an upgrade some of the locks look like they had been punched and somewhat repaired on the entrance door to room.

i arrived later than the office was open - easy finding my paperwork and keys - great band on a friday night. had thought about walking the area to find music - did not have to... stayed, enjoyed and grabbed food all at the same place :-)

Nice little place. Clean and efficient. The shower was a little hard to figure out but the room as a whole was fine. Staff was friendly and helpful. King size bed was AMAZINGLY comfortable!

Bad review. On website it said tiki bar was open till midnight. They closed at 10 pm! They should not advertise the wrong time!

Megan is out standing day of check out I was suffering from heat stroke and she offered me a late check out so I could recover before having to fly. She did not have to do that but for it I am extremely grateful.

Have someone on site 24/7 our last night was Sunday the bar closed at 9 and so did the pool. But that didn’t stop the group that was there from getting out there radio and have the kids screaming and yelling until 1 am no one

Don't judge a book by its cover! This property may look aged, but we were so very impressed with how well the owners have updated the interior and pool area. It's clean, comfortable, modern, and the customer service is the best I've experienced in a while. Meghan is the epitome of a hospitality professional!

The property was adequate and it was great to have the staff reach out to accommodate later arrivals outside their reception hours. I look forward to staying again.

I had a 6pm checking via lock box. No staff on site. Although the lady was extremely polite and helpful! The rooms were not that clean. Bug on AC. And not sure but thought I seen one in bed but it disappeared quickly. Pool and tiki area was cool! And cleanish..

They provide no top sheet. I had to ask. It's a tired old place with unpleasant smells. It was clean though and the people were lovely. The price is right if you just need a place to sleep.

Resort is ok. Meghan at front desk is awesome! The hotel is old but pretty clean. Tiki bar is really loud in the afternoons when the music starts. Had or room windows and art on our walls rattling for hours. Pool is right next to public bar so only feels usuable in morning. Otherwise you're the bars entertainment besides the live music. Food was ok. Works when you dont want to go out. A little pricy. Hotel is very reasonably priced. Would recommend rooms need updating badly. Music from bar toned down just a bit.

Key west vibes. The rooms have tile flooring. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The staff were extremely friendly. Check in and out was a breeze. The pool was the perfect temperature. It wasn’t crowded. The tiki bar is located on the premises. You don’t have to leave for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We did not have a bad meal. There is a small swimming area (lake) with beach sand 4 miles from the hotel. Follow signs to the yacht club/beach. It’s the perfect size for a couple of hours of swimming without the crowds of Ft. Myers Beach. We had a relaxing weekend and will definitely come back.

If you have kids, doesn’t feel the most family friendly. We arrived in the late evening , lots of men walking around smoking that had clearly been drinking at the bar a few steps away. Plus with the band you will hear that awhile into the night. Also, no double sheets, just a comforter on top, who knows how often that gets washed.

Close to RSW, room was nice, no microwave, tiki hut has live music on Fri/Sat nights til about 10:30, all in all a nice stay.

My friends and i love the dolphin key. Meghan at the front desk is very pleasant and helpful. Right now, you cannot get two beds on the first floor. The tiki bar restaurant has incredible food, good deals.

The stay was nice. It's a much older hotel, and the breezeway on the far end needs to be painted. Also, going upstairs you have to look at the hot mess of old air conditioners on top of the no-longer-used building. The room was very clean and nice. The live music was LOUD but was tolerable because we knew it would end at 10 pm.

Had a very good time. The staff was very friendly. Lots of fun places you can easily walk to to eat, drink, and dance.

I debated posting this review because I never leave negative reviews, but this experience was beyond words. We arrived at the hotel and the staff was very friendly. That was about as far as the good comments go. We entered the room to find that the previous guests food was not removed from the mini fridge. Gross but the rest of the room seemed pretty clean. It wasn't until I took a shower I found out how dirty the place really was. I placed towels on the floor for stepping out and when cleaning later I noticed the bottom of the towel (the part facing the floor) was absolutely filthy. We had just arrived and placed our shoes by the door so I know that we didn't dirty it. There was also very little lighting in the room. One of the few lamps had a broken cable. The true nightmare was trying to get a good night's sleep. I understand it's a party community but the music from the bar was absolutely blaring. I took a video of the sound from the bed. The music ran later then advertised as well. So we tried to push past it and watch some TV. Well that didn't work out either because the TV has a glitch where many colors showed as a staticey purple. We eventually went to bed, however an hour later... The smoke alarm battery died. The room had a peak and the alarm was unable to be accessed without a ladder. The true problem was that the lobby closed at 5pm. So there was no one to fix it to our knowledge. When put in earbuds and pushed through.

Really enjoyed staying there. The manager that was working the desk, can't remember her name, was super nice and helpful. My only complaint is that the mattress was to firm. Great location with plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The Tiki Hut that butted up to the property made it fun. Will go back when in the area.

Loved this place! Like they say they are not a big chain hotel...smaller & personal. The entire property is minimalistic...basic needs are absolutely met with very clean rooms..which imo, is all you need when away from home. Pool was great! Had a glitch with the a/c & it was fixed within 2 hours. An added plus is the awesome Tiki Bar right on property...great drinks & awesome live music! Would absolutely recommend the Dolphin & will definitely be back for a stay!

Location was good. Would not consider it a resort. It is a average motel with a great tiki bar. Staff was great. A self serve coffee bar would have been good a long with microwave in the rooms.

Our tub was clogged and the room smelt heavily like mildew or mold.

Although an older property, the rooms and motel grounds are clean. The pool area is fantastic with lots of seating areas throughout. The restaurant is next to the pool and you can swim right up to the bar! Front desk is super accommodating and welcoming. Close to all kinds of dining options and not far from the water.

The room was clean. Front desk nice. The band was super loud it went unti ten p.m. it comes through the room. Its advertised as peaceful with the band its not until theybquit.

Everything was perfect, loved the pool and the Tiki hut bar. Meghan was so helpful behind reception. Only downside I have is the pool had no umbrellas for the sun beds but apart from that great value for money 👍

My Husband and I really enjoyed our time here! Staff were so sweet and accommodating! We had so much fun and will certainly be making a trip here yearly. Meghan, the front desk staff was an absolute delight! She was so sweet, friendly, and understanding/accommodating to our needs the entire time we were there. She would check in on us every couple of days. She is wonderful!

In our room there was hair on the floor in the bathroom. The shower mechanism was rusted. The drains were clogged up.The staff was very friendly.

Megan was amazing. We had to have a suoer late check in. She texted instructions for opening a lock box, had our keys, a map where our room was and wifi code. The room had a fabulous mattress sooooo comfy, 5 pillows a nice white comforter and the room was chilled to perfection. A nice mini fridge, hair dryer, separate toiler room and shower and sinks outside the bathroom door to make them accessible for two people getting ready. The sling chairs were comfy. My only complaint would be no reading lamp by the comfy chairs. Great value and location.

Meghan stayed in contact with me. She reached out to inquire of our room preference which was greatly appreciated.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hopefully another time. We were visiting family members.

I have stayed at this property multiple times, I have not been disappointed. I would state, this is not a five start hotel, but the accommodations are adequate and the staff is terrific and very accommodating.

Overall, it was a good place to stay. The lobby does not stay open past 4 (first issue...what place has a lobby that closes at 4pm). The keys were in a lock box and when opening the door, there was a naked man in bed. It took a while to find someone who could help but finally got in the correct room...even though it was connected to the room with the naked man in it. The next morning moved rooms and had another issue the next night (did not check everything when got to the room) when there was no remote for the tv. Went to the Tiki Bar (which is affiliated with the hotel...same owner) and asked the bartender who could help. She asked the manager and the manager said "not my f'ing problem". Apparently, the person that is supposed to help out at night (found out next morning he lives on premises) sits in bar and smokes/drinks all day and was nowhere to be found that night. A remote is not a huge issue, and got one the next morning, but again, the manager was useless and rude. The front-end manager was very helpful (when there...not her issue), the rooms were cleaned daily and they did a great job, the bartenders especially Julie (dark hair) and Joe Joe were great. If not for the manager...his lack of care, rudeness and poor management it was not a bad place at all. He needs to go...TODAY (wait, long ago)!!!

However, STAFF and WAIT times were Terrible! Constantly had to wait nearly 15-30 minutes to ORDER any food or beverages, even when barely 10 guests in Tiki bar! Wait times nearly double for food & drinks to arrive! Staff very rude when ordering, or asking for update on order. Dolphin Key does NOT allow outside food or drinks at pool, so they NEED to drastically improve their Tiki Bar service! We had 12 people in our group, we all experienced same POOR service during our 4 day stay! 2 hour wait for Breakfast order on slow day! Tiki Bar smells like an Ashtray because they allow smoking & vaping in enclosed space! My credit card was charged TWICE for same order on same day, NO accountability from staff to correct it! Had contacted them THREE times to correct charges! My Credit Card company agreed to reverse duplicate charges!

We chose to stay here based on the most recent reviews and the good ones were all accurate! The outside looks dated when you first pull up but the inside is a different story. The room was perfect for what we needed it for, to sleep and shower. But it was very spacious and clean. The pool area was nice and it was directly next to the Tiki Hut bar and restaurant so you could hear the music from there and even enjoy a few drinks by the pool. The staff was wonderful and check in and check out was easy, even if you had to check in outside of their office hours. The only downside is there is no elevator to the second floor so if you can’t do stairs, let them know so that you can get a room on the first floor. We would absolutely stay here again!!!

We were disappointed that the ice machine downstairs wasn't working. It looks like its from the 80"s. The toilet was wobbly when using it. Property is very clean and well kept. Meghan is awesome, very friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a great time visiting and will return ASAP.

Dolphin resort was surprisingly nice, the room spacious and clean, the staff friendly, helpful, location good, not crowded, I liked the place. There is a pool area that is safe and easy to reach within the resort space and a tiki bar with music and great service. All together we were pleased with the place and would consider it again.

Rooms were very clean and comfortable.

No doubt, this property is as clean as it gets. However, its like a relict from the past. Doors do not seal the room, there are wide gaps all around, letting moisture, heat, and dirt through. Furniture is from Ikea, a $5 nightstand, one open shelf unit “Billy” with 4 small openings, thats probably meant to be for the content of your suitcase. Maybe ok for 2 nights. The sofa is stained. But the bed is ok. Everything in the bathroom looks brand new. The aircon unit is mounted underneath the window and its noise wakes you up when it turns on, and when it does, it blows right onto the bed. With Florida temps you have to let it run 24/7. No safe in the room for your values. After all, this is Motel standard of the ‘70ties. What troubles me the most is, USPS delivered a $120 replacement value package for me. I have the proof. The hotel lost it. No excuse, just “we don”t have it. I would not recommend this place.
